Incense is a tool used for cleansing the energy in a space in the realm of spirituality. It plays a significant role in ceremonies and traditions within many cultures. For example, burning incense in tombs to worship the gods was fundamental in ancient Egypt. Greeks and Romans used it to repel demons and evil spirits and in Eastern religions often use it as a way of honoring ancestors. So, burning of incense has always had a spiritual and symbolic meaning and has been also used as a way to dissipate negative energy.
Research has shown that aromatherapy can alter brain waves and behavior. Aromatherapy has been used for centuries. The inhaling of the scented molecules in the essential oil travel from the olfactory nerves directly to the brain and impact the amygdala, the emotional center of the brain.
Which can bring benefits for stress, sleeplessness, happiness, relaxation, calmness, as well as help all around one’s mood for the better.

Life advice with Moma:
Mosquitoes hate lavender, so if you don't have or don't like using chemical-based mosquito repellents, try putting a few drops of lavender oil in the water in an aromatherapy diffuser or an essential oil burner. Works wonders!
If you have something that you dread to do, don't wait around to feel better about it, just do it now. The more you put it off, the harder it will be to start it. Be salty and angry about it, curse its existence, doesn't matter, as long as you do it.
The first draft always sucks. But its purpose isn't to be good, it's to exist.
Don't text exes. This applies to both platonic and romantic relationships. Don't do it.
If you wear an eye mask to sleep, take it off slowly when you wake up in the morning to avoid sudden eye strain. Preferably, take it off with your eyes closed, wait a minute or two, then slowly blink your eyes open.

plotted & closed starter for @heraid
the final wick of numerous staged candles met carefully with a match. their original labels have since then been scrawled and corroded by neglect of the handler - he'd simply forgotten about them in a box at the furthest corner of his lair. these candles in particular were made specifically with natural oils to alleviate stress and anxiety; a very potent scent for the mind and body of anyone in close proximity. he'd also set up a few patchouli incense sticks on auto burners for good measure. so .. why was Kokichi transforming his personal space into an aromatherapy chamber? well you see: he's expecting a very important guest this evening. precisely one week ago, a hand-written invitation adorned within a purple satin, wax sealed envelope was delivered to a doorstep drop box addressed to the ultimate nurse herself. presentation was important, and the goal here was to arouse attention - a plain white envelope was, well.. just plain boring! jabbing the bell multiple times then making a run for it to hide, he made sure to stick around and watch her open it. once the humble receiver retreats back inside her quarters, the supreme leader's plan was now set in motion: it's time to make preparations.
a lack of overhead lighting was made up for with each lit cylinder of wax. he polished and dolled up a floor level table surrounded by cushions, even a fancy-looking tea set upon the sizeable furniture. the largest pot contains an herbal brew of chamomile and lavender; yet another remedy to soothe whoever may consume it. as soon as the ceramic vessel for raw honey was set, the buzzer to his lair was triggered: someone was requesting entry. he'd stay put at the very center as the mechanical door slides open, closing abruptly behind his guest. with arms open wide in a welcoming allure, Kokichi is exaggeratingly delighted with the appearance before himself.

❝ I'm sooo happy you'd take time out of your busy busy day to join me, Tsumiki-chan! come now, make yourself at home ~ once you're settled in, I'd love to discuss some things with you, 'kay? ❞ the gentle vibe he'd worked so hard to set was perfect to the very last detail, but there was malice laid dormant somewhere in those shadows.

Frankincense is an integral part of Oman’s culture and heritage. This aromatic resin is mostly used in incense and perfume and obtained from the tree bark of genus Boswellia. Frankincense is also known for its healing and restorative properties.Locally known as luban, Oman is known to produce the world’s finest frankincense. The best quality of frankincense is found in the Dhofar region and is abundantly available................, It can be used to improve respiratory function, reduce stress levels, induce relaxation and improve skin health. Frankincense oil is also known for its anti inflammatory and antibacterial properties, making it a valuable addition to any natural health regimen. To improve circulation and lower symptoms of joint pain or muscle pain related to conditions like arthritis, digestive disorders and asthma, try massaging frankincense oil to the painful area or diffusing it in your home. Frankincense is totally safe to burn. However in the first usage always open the windows to allow the energy to be cleared out. How do I use it? The best way to burn Frankincense is to light a piece of charcoal with a lighter and place it onto the burner. Enid yesterday was amazing; we'd planned to go to a few shops but only wound up going to a couple because the two we did visit were just full of so much stuff, we really didn't expect to spend all day in the two shops we did.
The first was the Metaphysical store we'd gone for in the first place. It was great; it was the first shop I've stepped into where you didn't immediately feel judged, and the energy was just wonderful. So crisp and vibrant. It was unfortunately full of your standard Native American and chakric appropriative stuff, and the herbal selection was very wanting. But I loved the book selection and how she actually carried so many of the older books and authors that we grew up on- along with some of the middle-era names and a few newer ones I actually like so far (like Crosson and Keynes). We also like that, while we were in there, some people came in and were actively asking her questions about, if they were interested in x, y, or z, what she'd recommend, and she was actively pulling book recommendations and stuff for them- though we tried not to eavesdrop.
Overall it was actually a nice shop and I did come out with some things:
Mugwort and Jasmine (as part of the herbs I need for my ritual on Halloween; unfortunately I had to order the rest online)
A tiny Incense Burner and some Charcoal Disks (for the same Halloween ritual, since I chose a loose incense and forgot I didn't have anything to burn it on anymore)
Incense: Crafting & Use Of Magickal Scents by Carl Neal (which I've been waiting to buy for ages, and she had it for a decent price)
Magical Aromatherapy by Scott Cunningham (which I'd intended to purchase secondhand later, but Abe Books' lowest price was about $12 most times I've looked and she had it for $8 so I snatched it)
Backyard Garden Witchery: Creating Magickal Space Outside Your Door by Laurel Woodward (which seems a good mix of practical and magical, and I've never heard of this author, but I snuck a peak after seeing it on the table, so I assume she recommend it to someone else in the shop. And it seemed interesting. So I decided to take a chance on it)
Vintage Raider-Waite Tarot by Lo Scarabeo (which was a gift for my Husband, who unfortunately fell prey to one of those scam tarot Etsy shops earlier in the year when he tried to buy a vintage patinaed Tarot for himself to start learning)
She did have Crosson's Pagan Family, but I was disappointed she didn't have Wild Magical Soul. Otherwise I'd've purchased that one too because I'd just been looking online at getting a physical copy of it for my shelf because I'd liked that one a lot. Womp.
We did have a lovely chat with her at checkout about why she opened her shop, though. And how she'd had her first experience with a Metaphysical shop in the 80's, and how the energy there was just so wonderful and she knew she wanted to have a place like that some day. It was really sweet, actually.
We went over to a big antique mall afterwards and oh man ... I think I discovered where all of my city's Tea Cups have vanished off to in the last decade. Because it was filled with Tea Cups everywhere- and all at, like, a quarter of the price we'd usually find them here, and especially online.
My old Covenmate wound up snagging two for herself, and I snagged another two for me- plus a few other items I couldn't resist:
One USSR piece for $24 that I about cried over when I found (USSR China is so rare, let alone finding it in person)
An Old Folly for $5 (another company I'm unfamiliar with).
A Czech Crystal bell with the most beautiful sound (to replace the crappy Christmas Ornament bell I've been using for rituals since last year)
Good and Easy Cook Book by Betty Crocker, published 1955
Secrets of Better Cooking by Reader's Digest, published 1973 (which is an absolute gold mine of simple herb garden food recipes that all sound so wonderful)
It took us like 3+ hours to walk around the whole place, it was huge; we're used to our Antique Mall, here- which is big. But this place is like double its size. I'm going to have to bring my Husband back at some point because he'd absolutely love it.
At the checkout, though, the woman working beside the guy doing the register asked about my pentacle necklace in a way that made me think she hadn't caught it. Then said she "liked my hair" and asked "is it a headwrap or a veil" and I was halfway through my answer before it clicked that the way she asked it meant she had, in fact, caught on, and was trying to suss out if I was actually a practitioner or not without outright asking 🤣 I'm such an idiot, ha.
Needless to say there was a brief but excited chat that followed, about us being up from a smaller town to check out their metaphysical shop. And then we stopped at Davinci's for Coffee afterwards (tradition for me, any time I'm in Enid)- where I found out the original location closed down during the Pandemic. But the coffee was still good, regardless, even if it wasn't the original (I'm going to miss it; so many childhood memories there, because I'd been going since I was like ... 14?).
After that we headed back because it was getting late and we were both exhausted and our feet were killing us. But it was just ... A lovely outing. We're definitely planning more- like a tour of Tulsa and the multitude of shops it has out there at some point (including the one I used to frequent in Sand Springs when I lived in Tulsa, and another in Owasso I didn't know about). Plus some Tea Parties or something for ourselves; I think we're both definitely starving for friend-attention, ha.
