this is still super rough but I know I want those colors, a big clunky spider-eyed visor, and mechanical legs. the rest of it is up in the air.

So when I am harvesting black raspberries from my thicket, I have to be careful of these little guys, who are camped out on most of the clusters. They are fantastic berry guardians, keeping my patch free of insects that would be consuming or damaging all my berries. They move when I put a hand close, sometimes just stepping back to let me pluck, sometimes running off, sometimes falling down. Sometimes they climb aboard my hand, which can be startling, but they're very harmless. Anyway I love them, and I'm glad I spotted this one face first into a cluster so I could grab a photo without being seen!

the spider is of the Myrmarachne genus, it's an ant-mimicking jumping spider! most of these were seen around my school, it is thriving with lots of cool plants and bugs :)

anyway if this is what I think it is, Phanias albeolus (bugguide has some photos with the same face colors and little head marks), it must have come alllll the way cross-country to NY on the cut boxwood we use in holiday decorations. I do remember there being spiders in some of it (there usually are), but was too busy to see what kind. hm!

this one was on asparagus fern growing in the back of one of the greenhouses.
