SHICKSJXJE yeah like it was valid back in S3 and you could maaaaaaybe even go as far as early S4 (though not likely after throwing a tantrum and willingly working with Hawkmoth)...but she's had everyone and the kitchen sink offer help and at some point, you just gotta let go and accept that you can't force someone to change and it shouldn't be up to you to change someone else. At this point they just gotta accept that she doesn't want help and that's what pushes her past redemption

And that's the thing, Adrien always does apologise when he's in the wrong as much as people love to salt on him for breathing in a way they disapprove of. Although I've had the salt tag blocked so I've been blissfully salt free...but I just know people are gonna spout the same old talking points 😔

I was so shocked at how hard they went on Marinette this episode...like wow I've only dealt with half of what she has and I could barely take that. Marinette is so strong and brave and resilient and she's one of my favourite protagonists of all time 💗

Basically, the problem with Chloe fans in a nutshell is their insistence that they, and their favorite character, get to "operate under different rules than other people".

They're allowed to scream hatred at Adrien, or Marinette, or even the creator Thomas Astruc, but you can't say anything remotely negative about Chloe or they'll scream.

Everyone else must face consequences for their actions, but if Chloe faces consequences, then she's being "forcibly given ultimatums".

Even if Miraculous Ladybug or Chloe had never been created, these people would simply have latched onto a different fictional asshole instead, because the problem isn't which character they like, it's their insistence that "if I personally like a character, then both the character and myself get to operate under different rules than other people".

Severus Snape fans used to operate exactly the same way 20 years ago (and in their case they even founded a literal cult around his character); they, too, believed that because they liked Snape, that meant that both he and they should get to be judged under different rules than everyone else.

There's nothing wrong with liking a character! I've liked characters who are preeeeetty messed up before...but I was aware they were messed up, I didn't try and excuse the messed-up stuff they did, and I didn't go creating a whole narrative where everyone else was the bad guy just to justify liking that character. At least, I didn't do that once I grew out of that phase and learned that I could like characters without excusing them.

I've said this before when addressing Alya and Adrien salt but someone said this to me when I was a baby fanfic writer in That Magic Fandom: if you have to bash and warp one character to make another look better, that's more of a reflection on the second character than the first. If Chloé stans have to jump to attack Adrien and Marinette and Alya and everyone else just to make Chloé look better (i.e. she's just a misunderstood jerk with a heart of gold I swear she's not really eeeeevil look how hard done by she is from everyone else it's actually their fault bc they're vicious hateful monsters) then that reflects on Chloé far more than the other characters. And that's something they just don't realise in their haste to excuse everything Chloé does and warp everyone around her to make her out to be something she's not.

I enjoy Chloé. I wouldn't say I like her but I enjoy her. I enjoy reading and writing about what she could have been and how she could have ended up becoming a better person if she'd made different choices or gone down different paths. But I don't pretend that Chloé's someone she's not, and I don't have to pretend that to enjoy her. I don't have to tear down the other characters and deliberately twist her canon actions to make her look better than she is. That's the beauty of fanfic: you don't have to accept canon, you can write your own story and interpretation...and so can others. And that's where Chloé stans generally tend to fall, then can't understand why other people don't want to engage with them.

i just finished reading free to be you and me- IT WAS SO SO SWEET thank you so much for this fic. it warmed my heart to see the polyam moments amongst the central couple. it reminded me so much of my own relationship and my own experience being polyam (and don’t think i didn’t notice you writing “mum” instead of “mom” LMAO it’s so nice reading fics from ppl i think are aussie).

a lot of the ladrien scenes also felt very queer- it really took me back to when i was 14 in my first queer relationship just. being young and trying to love in secret- yet another thing that made me feel so warm. yes, it’s a “cishet” couple but the way you wrote them, again, felt so distinctly queer. idk how u did it but it was magical.

this was such a refreshing read and this is the first time i’ve felt compelled to actually contact an author to tell them how much it meant to me. keep doing what you’re doing- you’re awesome <3

Omg don't get me started

I used to watch Medical Emergency when I was a wee autie who thought I'd become a doctor before the health issues kicked in weeeee. Absolute classic for us Aussie kids. Watched a few episodes of Ambulance Australia way back and now I'm starting to fixate on Paramedics. And it's not really medical but I also used to be completely fucking obsessed with Crash Scene Investigation.

Also currently obsessing over Diagnosis Unknown (about disease epidemics) ever since I stumbled across it on YT last week bc I was the weird as fuck 13 year old who couldn't find my class one period and panicked at the thought of getting in trouble for wagging so I snuck into the school toilets to read my book on diseases. Full of regrets that my health wouldn't let me support myself financially at the main campus that offered these sciencey degrees so I settled for an arts degree at our local (limited) branch and now I'm drowning in regrets of what my life could have been with my human biology special interest that refuses to fucking die 🙃
