The network that runs Yellowstone and it's spinoffs thought it was appropriate to cheer on Robert De Niro's character in Killers of the Flower Moon as he killed off Native characters who are based on actual murdered Native people.

Lily Gladstone, who plays the lead actress in the film, was NOT amused by this.

She described in the interviews her interest in genealogy which led her to a claim that she was a descendant of William Bradford, an English Puritan Separatist who governed the Plymouth colony during various times from 1621 through 1657.   Key showed an enormous sense of entitlement at being “white” when she expressed dismay that she is not granted special privileges for being a “Mayflower American” and from descending from someone who “…literally built America. I’ve been here forever…My family has done so much for this country and it doesn’t matter anymore. No one cares.” [Historical aside, William Bradford appointed Myles Standish to be military commander. Standish subsequently used his position to massacre a group a Native Americans in cold blood after inviting them to a meal in what was later described in many history books as a “pre-emptive strike.”]

this isnt rly a question but i just listened to ep 6 & i cant stop thinking about the wild implications that jacob, an indigenous teen raised on the res, would genuinely 1 believe the oral traditions of his tribe are fake scary stories made up by his paranoid old man And also 2 that he as the native boy would be the one to break the treaty first when in reality, eddy boy would probs have done so without even batting an eye bc which white man ever cared about treaties anyway rant over the podcast is lovely thank you for your time

Nex Benedict — a nonbinary, Native American, 16-year-old sophomore — was reportedly beaten to denath on February 7 by three older female students in the bathroom of Owasso High School in Oklahoma. The school refused to call an ambulance for the injured teen and didn’t inform police of the attack until Benedict was later admitted into the hospital — they died from their injuries the next day.

Heather Stefanson, the leader of Manitoba’s PCs, has launched a new ad campaign promoting her opposition to searching a landfill for the remains of two Indigenous women believed to have been murdered by an alleged serial killer. On Saturday, the Manitoba PCs took out a full page ad in the Winnipeg Free Press as well as site-wide banner ads on the province’s biggest newspaper’s website featuring a sensational and highly unusual campaign message from the incumbent premier, who is currently trailing by a wide margin in the latest opinion polls. “Stand firm,” reads both the print and digital versions of Stefanson’s ad. “For health and safety reasons, the answer on the landfill dig just has to be no.”

Suprised that pple are suprised over Mark Hamill supporting Israel when a few years back, he actually gaslit a couple of Native Americans who called him out over Twitter for dismissing anti Native racism (one of them being @alinahdee). If that was how he, a "liberal" wealthy White American actor, treated Native Americans who called him out, is it really that suprising that he supports Israel (a settler colony that displaced and oppressed the native Palestineans, similar to America)?

He's not some fuddy duddy space grandpa, he never was.
