…because I think we all assumed (Dennis included) that if they ever did get together Mac would not be capable of keeping his shit together. He was always gonna be needy and desperate and non-consensually kissing Dennis.

Buuuuuut if it IS revealed later on that they’ve been banging this whole time (or at least since Frank v Russia), I’m fine if we never actually see a kiss or embrace, because watching seasons 16-18 all over again with that knowledge will feel the same as re-watching seasons 1-11 knowing that Mac’s canonically gay. Or 1-15 knowing Dennis is canonically bi. It just ✨ hits different ✨

I just got caught up on It's Always Sunny in Philedalphia and Dennis is pretty much how Ted describes Barney without the redeeming qualities so I'm convinced Ted has seen the show and based Barney in his stories off of Dennis. I do not believe was the sociopath Ted described him as, if he was than the gang wouldn't be such good friends with him. Ted just wanted to make Barney look bad because of Robin.

This is the best pitch I ever heard to watch It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

I am 100% on that train. Maybe Ted helped build up to the Barney and Robin divorce somehow and that's why it was a small fight and a divorce happened off screen. Maybe Ted was just pushing all his bad traits onto Barney. Then he pretended that Barney was horrible to his kids so they didn't hate him.
