Lucid Dreams and Ceasless Nightmares….

Coming up with some forms/designs for Dream and Nightmare because fun >:3

Still pretty early on and workshopping these bit by bit, but I’m enjoying the ride. Sharing these now since I’m gonna have to rest my arm this week, my RSI flared up again pretty badly. Blegh! Anyway I’m gonna ramble about my ideas under the cut, maybe share a few concepts.

Dream and Nightmare belong to Jokublog

But these designs are mine, hee hoo

So yeah, going with “Lucid Dream” for our dude on the left. Lol. It started out as a pun, but the definition actually ended up working so nicely with my ideas; suffused with light, luminous, transluscent… plus the pun. Yep. Had to use it lol. I’ve been having fun painting some crystalline stuff related to these boys’ SOULs, may be considering making Lucid Dream’s outfit liquid-like, as if it was a high shine satin silk, or super-organza. Ok, if you’re wondering wtf any of that means, look up the Armani Privé Coture line from Fall 2021. The fabrics there are INSANEEEEE.

Anyway, hopefully it’s easy to tell from the visuals that this is more akin to a swap!Dream (tho i really dont know much about them aaa) than a corrupted/shattered variant. I’m a big fan of angel wings and all, I’ll slap em on most any chance I get, but honestly if Nightmare is a semi-eldritch horror, then why not Dream as well? Lol

Lucid is main-universe Dream, in that post-Underverse idea i have stewing in my noggin. He ends up in posession of a few extra golden apples through accidental timeline bullshittery. His hand is forced by Nightmare, and to protect his friends and re-balance the multiverse, he consumes them and assumes this form. His body takes it pretty hard, skull splitting completely on the left side from an old wound, and beginning to crack on the right. Everything weeps a liquid gold ooze. His cape-ribbons tear/transform into two smaller tendrils, while a larger set of four burst from his soul out the back and destroy the sun patch. Ouch.

In the midst of this brutal fight with Nightmare, he’s fighting to control the overwhelming nature of his new power, as it fights to take him over. While he generally remains—ha—lucid, he has moments where his control slips away, and a primal, ancient desire to fill the universe with light overtakes him. Somethin’ like that. Still kinda vague on the details. Less happy-crazy or full on stoic-coldness, and more like incomprehensible god energy lol. A little chaotic. Mainly tho, he remains Dream, just desperately trying to save his home and his friends and maybe his brother, if he can hang on long enough.

Noot’s design isn’t a power-up, moreso a redesign for funsies. I wanted to give him something intimidating and regal, play around with how everything is made of goop, and off of Dream’s design elements too. It’s pretty messy atm, still trying to balance things. Here’s a few sketches of that :>

i am in writing jail for my rsi but if i wasn't i would be writing a fic based off lito/hernando & daniela from sense8 where eddie's a big actor in mexico who married shannon young and had chris before realising he was gay but keeps it quiet and stays married to shannon bc they're still best friends and it's just better for chris both family and money wise but enter: evan buckley who gets stranded with no money before he can make it up to los angeles so grabs a job as an extra on one of eddie's movies, eddie sees him from time to time but he's a little rizzless freak contrary to popular belief so he avoids the big beefy man with the beautiful blue eyes except then shannon gets an audition for something on a filming day so eddie has to bring chris to set and chris wanders off during a scene, cue eddie sprinting around set all panicked only to find chris having the time of his little life learning about sharks from the big beefy man, they become best friends, they get a little too drunk one day and kiss, they fall in love, eddie doesn't come out because he's scared of what will happen to his career but also how his family will react, but buck comes up with a plan to act as his bodyguard so he can come to the like award shows and shit with eddie and shannon to share in eddie's successes in public, but in private they're sickeningly in love and shannon is their live-in best friend and they're a weird little family but they all love each other so much and it works

Only got to the moon blowing up part of trigun (I did not expect the angel arm so soon) but while it hasn't inflicted me with any emotional damage yet it has inflicted me with artistic damage. The characters are SO expressive!! The linework!!! The usage of values!!! And I can't draw all of the ideas it has given me because I have been dealing with a major rsi flareup for the past week!! A!

I’m ashamed it took me three years but I finally learned the Guardian Angel super jump properly XD My only defence is that in OW 1 you can survive as a floor Mercy by simply beaming around corners. However in OW 2 it is a terrifying new world for support players and while the air is no less safer than the ground I want to know how to at least leap to high ground off teammates’ corpses lmao. And out of all the characters I think super jump Mercy might finally give me overwatch rsi @.@

yeah, sorry. 1) the example angels in the original post aren't really characters, just one-off designs I drew to show off the angel concept, and 2) angels were just a random concept I posted for fun and I'm not terribly invested in them. I've got very limited art energy due to my RSI and I'm focusing it on my dumbass JRPG setting atm.

I still find angels interesting and I'll probably draw more at some point, but if it's the only thing you're following me for, you're going to be disappointed.

For anyone that’s new to this, this is how I keep track of all of the things I enjoy and/or create throughout the year. I have literally been doing this since I had a livejournal. I think the first one was 2011? Maybe? In which case, woohoo, ten years of scrapbooking!

In Italia… dice una nota canzone, il Paese delle mezze verità… In Italia c’è un primo sottomarino U212/A (progetto tedesco)che si chiama S.TODARO, è da il nome alla classe, il secondo si chiama invece SCIRÈ, classe Todaro.   Come nella maggior parte dei casi che fanno riferimento alla storia recente è tutto sbagliato.

S. Todaro fu una figura di secondo piano nella storia dei sommergibili italiani, J.V.Borghese fu invece il più grande comandante di sommergibili del mondo, a detta di tutti. Osannato da tutte le marine militari del mondo, mentre la X Flottiglia MAS e i suoi metodi di combattimento hanno dettato le regole di tutti i corpi speciali del mondo.

In un famoso e recentissimo film sui Navy Seal americani si vede un sottomarino classe 688 Los Angeles che porta sul ponte un contenitore per “Maiale” e la cosa viene fatta vedere con enfasi, noi lo facevamo già nel 1941, grazie allo Sciré, comandato da JV Borghese; tutti sono stati decorati con medaglia d’oro, ancora in vita, sia il comandante, sia l’equipaggio, sia il sottomarino.                          Quindi il primo sottomarino all’idrogeno italiano dovrebbe chiamarsi “J.V.BORGHESE” ed il secondo “S.TODARO” classe “Borghese”.

Todaro;   pochi sanno che in Francia, a Betasom, la base sommergibili atlantici italiana nel 1942/44, durante una visita del grand admiral Karl Doenitz,  fu definito dallo stesso «un buon comandante per navi ospedale», data la sua tendenza a salvare i naufraghi delle navi che affondava; mettendo però a repentaglio la vita del suo equipaggio.

Un accadimento che mi viene dalla testimonianza diretta di chi era lì a guardare e a sentire, quindi è cosa certa.

Non basta, magari fosse tutto lì… invece il 26 agosto 1974 moriva a Cadice il comandante J.V.Borghese due volte medaglia d’oro al valor militare, Cavaliere dell’ordine dei Savoia, croce di ferro al merito, eccetera.

Come molti sanno, suo figlio, il principe Andrea Scirè Borghese, è un mio intimo e caro amico e pertanto sappiamo con certezza che quando i figli giunsero a Cadice al capezzale del padre, la salma era già stata imbalsamata con l’asportazione di tutti gli organi interni.                     Per le tecnologie dell’epoca era a quel punto impossibile stabilire con esattezza le cause della morte, che furono accertate dal primo ed unico referto medico come: pancreatite acuta.                 Curiosamente l’effetto di alcuni noti veleni, produce proprio quella che sembrerebbe una pancreatite acuta, ma che tale non è.Junio Valerio Borghese sapeva molte cose sia sul finto golpe, mai avvenuto,  sia su quello che stava capitando in Italia in quel triste periodo.

Le ultime parole dette alla stampa, dopo la sua assoluzione in contumacia per non aver commesso il fatto (il famoso golpe del principe nero) furono: «tornerò in Italia e dirò tutto».

Quella frase gli è certamente costata la vita, all’epoca non era ancora di moda il caffè alla Sindona, ma in Italia c’è tornato:  morto ed imbalsamato, una cassa di frutta e verdura, in un furgone bianco senza insegne che doveva raggiungere Roma alla velocità minima di settanta chilometri all’ora, questi i dettami della Farnesina.

Ed ecco che cosa è giunto alla nostra redazione, speditoci da uno degli ultimi superstiti della RSI, una sigla che in Italia, in questo magnifico Paese, dove l’ultima cosa che si vende, ma proprio l’ultima è la giustizia, seguita a pari passo dalla verità, pronunciare RSI sembra un’eresia, all’epoca invece se eri in età di leva avevi due scelte:   1) andare in montagna e rubare i polli ai contadini, per mangiare,  2)   presentarti al comando territoriale della RSI per evitare l’arresto e diciamolo francamente anche perché si mangiava meglio e senza dover rubare i polli.       Chi ha scelto la montagna è diventato un eroe, chi l’arruolamento regolare per la molto imprecisa e disattenta storia ufficiale, un boia assassino che ne avrebbe fatte di tutti i colori. Per poi scoprire in epoche recenti che anche i meravigliosi partigiani ne hanno fatte di tutti i colori, vedi la Strage di Codevigo, nel film “Il sgreto di Italia” interprete Romina Power, che è stato ostacolato e messo alla gogna con ogni mezzo.

Tralasciando tutto quanto ci sarebbe da dire su una Italia vergognosa,  ecco il testo della lettera e relativa denuncia arrivata a noi il 21 dicembre del 2008:

Oggetto: denuncia penale a carico degli ignoti autori dell’omicidio del Comandante Junio Valerio Borghese.

Ci si domanderà: perchè dopo tanto tempo? Perchè attendere 34 anni dalla sua morte?

È documentato nella nuova edizione del libro”Affondate Borghese!”

Nessuno aveva interesse che questa sconcertante verità venisse pubblicamente rivelata: da una parte i Carabinieri del SID con il sequestro del materiale investigativo e dall’altra ignoti killer che hanno tentato più volte di farmi tacere per sempre, ma… GOTT MIT HUNS, “Dio è con me”, era inciso sulla fibbia della cinghia dei camerati germanici…

E dato che oggi si ragiona in termini di “casta”, anch’io voglio poter dire che appartengo alla CASTA più nobile, mai conosciuta e mai esistita prima: quella dei combattenti dell’Onore, i Cavalieri della R.S.I. e come tale non potevo non presentarmi al più nobile dei Cavalieri di questa CASTA, il Comandante Junio Valerio Borghese, senza dirgli: Comandante, ho lottato fino all’ultimo, non vi ho abbandonato né come soldato né come amico.

Questo è l’unico scopo di questa mia iniziativa…

Sarei grandemente ingenuo se pensassi che la mia denuncia possa raggiungere uno scopo pratico…

Che altro si può dire?

Beh, innanzi tutto che l’omicidio non va in prescrizione, quindi che le autorità giudiziarie preposte dovrebbero chiedere, anzi ordinare l’esumazione della salma per stabilire con le moderne tecnologie se JV Borghese è morto per una pancreatite acuta o per avvelenamento. Se fosse vera la seconda ipotesi dovrebbero cercare e se ancora vivente/ti arrestare l’assassino o gli assassini.

Attenzione però, solo un idiota potrebbe pensare che lo abbiano ucciso i “compagni” italiani.

JV Borghese sapeva troppe cose, troppo compromettenti per i governi (uomini di potere dell’epoca), su un golpe mai avvenuto e entrato in cronaca ben tre mesi dopo la sua presunta esecuzione.

Se omicidio c’è stato è stato comandato da uomini di potere che volevano pararsi il culo, uomini che durante la “Guerra Fredda” non potevano essere messi in discussione. Si perché all’epoca l’idea del golpe circolava, eccome se circolava, all’epoca il sottoscritto lavorava con documenti Top Secret e di movimenti strani ne ho visti parecchi.

Borghese era presumibilmente in contatto con i servizi segreti americani e inglesi tant’è che uomini della Xa del Sud, passavano allegramente la Gotica avanti e indietro per portare notizie e altro e cambiandosi d’uniforme. Processato alla fine della guerra dagli americani, fu assolto da qualsiasi imputazione inerente a crimini di guerra. Ricordiamo anche che il Porto di Genova fu salvato dalla distruzione da uomini della Xa, che salvarono anche molte aziende del Nord per favorire la ricostruzione post bellica. Questa è la vera storia.

If the second hypothesis were true they should try and if still alive / you arrest the killer or killers.

But be careful, only an idiot could think that the Italian "comrades" killed him.

JV Borghese knew too many things, too compromising for the governments (men of power of the time), about a coup that never took place and entered the news three months after its alleged execution.

If there was a murder, it was commanded by men of power who wanted to cover their asses, men who could not be questioned during the "Cold War". Right. Well, I’m  being quite unIrish doing this (although never fear, I can always hear the Irish mammy in my head saying, look at yer wan, shur she’s no better than she should be), but I am pretty proud of my first year of writing. Here are my own favourite bits from 2019.

1. I Was Brave

You all probably feel the same - writing stuff and putting it out for public consumption can be hard. I’m very private about my inner life, and publishing fic feels a bit like stripping those layers of reserve back and just parading around naked and flayed and asking people to like me anyway (just me??). So sharing my writing at all was a big deal. But I did it, and I took part in fests, and I even VERY bravely wrote a piece to go along with one of my favourite pieces by @fictional (the smoking Drarry art which is utterly perfect and which can be found here!). 

Because that’s intimidating - taking something which is glorious, and piping up and saying, oh hey - here’s my take on it. I mean luckily Lynn is an angel and was very kind about it! And in fact that’s probably my favourite piece of my own writing, so I’m glad I took the leap with it.

2. I Practiced

Sloppy perfectionist - usually if I’m not brilliant at something instantly, I stop and never do it again (hobbies include reading and watching Netflix). With writing, I’ve been slogging away at it almost every day, since last February, writing furiously on my phone until I gave myself RSI (yes I did that), stealing odd moments here and there to just get more words down. And I tried different formats, and themes, and POVs, just to stretch myself a bit. I have never committed to anything like I have with this hobby, and it’s been a revelation (not hyperbole! Really!).

The Drabble Challenge on the Drarry Discord is great for practice, I think - there’s a real skill in refining a story right down into a handful of words, and it’s a good exercise in brevity too! Here’s a link to all my drabbles on AO3 if you fancy it!

3. I Pushed Myself

I wrote 55k for Erised this year, people, for A Lick and a Promise. That would have been inconceivable to past me. And where all my other fics came to me quite easily, this one was hard to write. I lost all perspective on it and had no idea if it was any good at all by the time I submitted it. In fact, I had to take some time over Christmas to just sit down and read it. And because I write the fics I want to read myself, I had put in lots of stuff that I love, like sentient Hogwarts, and Auror shenanigans, and Professor Drarry (including Draco in fancy robes that get Harry all hot and bothered), and magical theory, and a sexy vampire, and bathtime fun. And it turns out that I am really happy with that fic, and I do love it - and it’s probably the work I’m most proud of, actually. Do please read it if you like, as comments and kudos are meat and drink to me and I hoard them like a greedy praise dragon. It’s here!

4. I Learned My Process

I used to think I needed to be more organised, be more proactive about planning, be more rigorous with my time and energy, be stricter about my schedule. Over the year I learned - with the help of my very wise and supportive friends - that I am a true pantser, and that pantser is as pantser does. I trust my own intuition about what works for me. I ignore all writing advice. I give myself a fucking break when I need it. I now know how I work best, and what is the most efficient and suitable way for me to actually get the bloody words out, and that’s invaluable.

Here’s And One To Play, which I wrote by the seat of my pants and had no idea what was going to happen scene by scene, and people seemed to like this one (Auror partners! Magical theory! Wild magic!)

5. I Was Robust

Self-belief! Self-worth! Self-confidence! All of those things can be hard to maintain, especially in such a draining creative pursuit. We’re not writing in a vacuum after all, and I think most of us who post publicly do so because we want people to read and like our work. This year I realised that I have a strong sense of the worth of my work - that I believe it’s good, even if people don’t read it, or like it. Very reassuring to know that I have at least one fan!
