Thinking in the rain
Marius sat in the workshop fidgeting with his pen, while trying to focus on the blueprint in front of him. He tried to work on this project since the finale of the tournament where Eliza and Jaimini had their big fight. Even a rock could see that everyone was more on edge these days, than ever before.
This fight tore apart the whole team Rainbow. Everyone was now subconsciously sorted into seperate teams, each of them supporting either Eliza or Jaimini. It was natural that discussions would be happening and some of them would grow into more heated ones. Gustave and Harry had more work than ever.
For the most part Marius was able to get around the conflicts, but it made him lonely in the process. A precaution he wasn't willing to take, but necessary.
His frustration grew by the minute and there was no way of stopping it.
And that was how time has been for the past month. He never imagined that he could work uninterrupted all by himself in the workshop. At first it was refreshing to work focused on everything, but after a week he grew sick of it.
He missed Dominic dropping by to discuss one of his creations or to just have a chat. And now the prankster wasn't really hanging out as much as he used to.
Monika was also more or less doing her stuff alone. Most of the evenings he would drop by her room and they would discuss her own gadget improvements or her new stories. This reminded him about the last time she read a snippet to him. It ended with a cliffhanger. How will the story proceed further? But now she wasn’t feeling up to writing more.
Now he realised how stressed Elias was lately. Always trying his best to keep the Germans together. Their breaks were always spent together to eat in the mess hall, but now everyone just dropped by, when they felt like it. It was tiring to see how much Elias worked against his team falling apart slowly. He would just like to know the words to console everybody and to get everyone to work with each other as they did before. But how could he do that, when he didn't know how to help himself?
Marius was frustrated, these thoughts were circling in his head all the time when he started to work on his Magpies or on any other side project. They kept him from being productive. And many of the usual suspects in the workshop realized that this man had his head more in the clouds.
When he figured that it was impossible to concentrate on his project anymore, he got up from his chair in the workshop and decided to go for a walk. See what the others have been up to. So he walked around the workshop to look at the projects of the ones who were there at the moment. Only Shuhrat and Mark were, both of them focused on their work and not caring about Marius taking a look at their stuff.
Since he didn't want to disturb their concentration, he silently got out of the workshop.
As he got outside, it was as if he was finally coming out of the water. The air in the workshop was so heavy of all the metallic stenches from furious welding and soldering and any other chemicals that were used during their creative processes. Now the engineer was greeted by the smells of nature.
Body stiff from all sitting in the wrong position while tinkering, made it crack at any movement. In order to get his body into a better shape, he decided to take a small walk outside. Also he befriended the idea of skipping his workshop projects in the evening, because he didn't want to exhaust himself because of the upcoming squad training the next morning. He knew himself so well that he could anticipate that if it weren't for the training, he'd stay there to tinker into the night.
It was a relief for him to finally be out of the tight space in the workshop, allowing himself some time to breath and settle his mind. So, he briefly went inside again to get himself a chair and a cold drink for sitting outside. Surely he seemed to be at peace for an outsider, but it was quite the contrary for him. The thought of their practice tomorrow made him a bit anxious. Who knows what they would be fighting over again? People are stressed and there was no way he could see to stop those tensions. His best option was to lay low, was it?
____________
The next morning came faster than anticipated. Being outside for so long, mulling over everything and nothing left him quite exhausted the following day.
Tiredly he moved his body to get his morning coffee and decided to not eat, since stressing himself with sports and having a full stomach didn’t sit well with him. Also the engineer felt a bit nauseous when he woke up.
The German quarters were already deserted, so he figured they had gone to eat breakfast in the mess hall. But they obviously chose to not wake him. Or maybe they tried, but he was still in a deep slumber. Yeah, that sounded more likely.
Still, or already exhausted, he walked to the mess hall by himself. As he finally reached the mess hall, it was already quite empty. What time was it anyways?
The clock said 9 am sharp. He better hurry and eat his breakfast. After he wolfed it down, he left with the last ones to go to the training exercise. They had a rough day ahead that included many exercises and mock missions.
______________
Fuck them honestly. FUCK. THEM. Marius threw his helmet to the ground in anger, right beneath the feet of his team. He was so sick of everyone. Apparently it was his fault. Sure. His ADSs were the only gadgets that were protecting him, Dominic and Alexandr, who were the only three being "alive" to begin with. And if it wouldn't have been for Shuhrat who was the only one left on his team. Then they made the mistake of staying in the same room. And then they lost. Death by Matryoshka.
Rookie mistake. Apparently one of Marius' Magpies had been destroyed already, so there was no way in hell that they could have protected them all at that moment. But sure. It was all his fault…
Dominic and Alexandr were now arguing loudly about how and why they had failed against one single opponent. Meanwhile Marius calmed a bit down from his outburst and collected his helmet. It didn't mean that he wasn't angry anymore, but not in the mood to jump at everyone's throats at least.
Angry because of the accusations against him, he went out of the training area by himself. On his way back to the facilities, he made a stop and went outside for a bit. He hadn't realized that it was already this dark out. Sadly the stars were covered by thick clouds, preventing even the moonlight from shining through. Time flies when you are not having fun and work endlessly without any long pauses to even get a glimpse of boredom.
The exhausted engineer put his helmet lazily under his arm and just looked at the sky.
It was raining. Nothing unusual for England. The droplets were running down his face, cooling down his temper even more. Easing all the tension that was built up inside him.
He allowed his thoughts to drift away.
Why was he here? What led up to it?
Easy to answer? No, not really.
But there was something else that dawned on him that his subconscious tried to tell him, it was only the right question that needed to be asked.
Why was it here? What led up to it?
Easy to answer? Yes, with certainty.
First it started with a Big Bang and lots of dust began to expand through the universe. Masses formed that led to other masses forming around them. Like our own star system. The sun has the biggest mass and the planets have the smaller masses. The planets circle around the sun in an endless dance.
As the planets formed, so did their surfaces. Earth's surface was rugged, dangerous and ever changing. Volcanoes spurt out their lava and caused the air to become toxic due to all the emitted smoke clouds from these eruptions. Over millions of years Earth stayed this angry and uninhabitable place.
For millions of years it rained and smoothed Earth's features. Only by cooling the surface, it was possible for the oceans to form. Calming Earth down was the inevitable step to create life and let it prosper. First it was the bacteria that could survive on its own, feeding from the Black Smoker. Later, the first bacteria came to life and made Earth like it is today. The air is breathable, not only for small bacteria, but also for bigger organisms that need air to breath.
Countless species have formed and wander the Earth.
One of them is Marius.
The one who was standing outside of Hereford's training area, soaking wet from all the rain and thought about the miracle of life.
A hand was placed onto his right shoulder. As adrenalin started to rush at lightning speed, he turned around quickly, almost losing his helmet already.
"I called out to you a few times. What were you thinking about for so long?" Asked Shuhrat. His voice sounded even more concerned than his worried eyes, the only part not being obscured by the balaclava he wore under his helmet.
"Uhm… the miracle of life. How life came to be on this rock that was flying through space."
There was silence. Both were standing next to each other, each of them back into their own minds, staring at the sky. Rain falling onto their clothes was the only sound they could hear.
The wind picked up and it became quite uncomfortable in the now soaked clothing.
"Why are you thinking about all that anyways?" Shuhrat asked after a while.
"I try to understand why it happened. I am not one to lose my cool that easily. Did you realize that everyone is more on edge than usual? You know, everything feels so connected."
"How so? Why think about the creation of the world, when your problems in that sense lie way more in the present?"
That made Marius think for a bit. Not because he didn't know the reason, but how to describe it to be understandable. In his mind it made all sense, but would it for his friend?
"You know. Earth in her beginnings was full of volcanoes. Like our problem. Imagine Team Rainbow as our many volcanoes. Each of them erupts at the slightest stress. And it is not even me, who snaps, but many others. And I don't know why and how to make it all like it used to be..."
"Do you think there is something that could help?"
"The rain. Rain caused life to prosper, so when we get out of this kind of crisis, maybe we are able to be even greater and better than before?"
That got a thoughtful hum as an answer. Shuhrat being as engulfed in that thought as his friend. Both were standing there silently again, but now it felt like it could all be better again. The hope that they get over this was a pleasant and warming thought. It wasn't that cold now, since they stepped inside, so they remained there and enjoyed the light rain.

Ahhh, I can’t believe I actually finished something?? I'm really not a writer at all but I hope whoever is reading this enjoys it. Thank you for reading!
Sickie: Jungkook
Caretaker: all of the members
Word count: 5939
TW: emeto, hospital
Seokjin sat on the couch, the low simmering of the pots in the kitchen the only noise disturbing the silence. He continued the book he recently started reading as he waited for everyone else to get home. He didn’t have much time to read or do anything really due to endless recording sessions and other schedules.
Everyone was exhausted so they were grateful for the free evening their agency granted them and the members decided to spend it together, eating self-made dinner. They lived and worked together but they barely ever ate together, their recording sessions were at such different times that it was impossible to enjoy dinner with each other. More often than not, they ordered takeout and ate at the studio separately.
Seokjin perked up when he heard the front door opening. Namjoon rounded the corner to enter the main room shortly after.
"Hi, hyung." The younger greeted him, glancing around the room, "Where is everyone? I thought we're having dinner together tonight?"
Seokjin put his book down and smiled in greeting. "Hobi and Jimin are still in the studio but they should be back shortly and the others are in their rooms. I think Yoongi and Jeonggukie are napping and Taehyung-ah is taking a shower."
When he noticed Namjoon's face falling, he quickly added, "Don't worry, dinner's basically ready and we can eat as soon as everyone's here."
The rapper smiled and declared that he'd take a shower as well, leaving Seokjin alone once again.
Not even five minutes later the front door opened again, Hoseok and Jimin's voices echoing softly through the hallway. They greeted the oldest before excusing themselves to take quick showers.
Jin continued his book for a few more minutes until he reached a point he deemed alright to stop at and put it down on the coffee table. He stretched his tired limbs, sighing at the satisfying cracking and popping of his bones. The singer checked the pots once more before heading down the hallway to gather the other members.
He knocked on Namjoon's door, quickly letting him know that he could come to the dining table as soon as he's finished before entering Yoongi's room. It was dark and the boy was definitely asleep so the oldest approached the bed carefully, whispering the rappers name until he stirred.
"Dinner is ready, come eat." Jin clarified and the younger grumbled a tired agreement, slowly sitting up. That was enough for Seokjin to know that Yoongi won’t fall back asleep again so he left.
He quickly knocked on Taehyung’s door as he passed it, loudly telling him to join them. The door immediately opened and the younger smiled happily at him before skipping off to wait at the table.
Seokjin rapped his knuckles against Jeongguk's door a few times but didn’t get an answer.
"JK! Don't ignore hyung!" He announced loudly when he opened the maknae's bedroom door.
Jin found the youngest curled up in his bed when he turned on the lights.
"How dare you ignore me, brat? Dinner is ready!" Seokjin teased but only got a weak groan in response from the bundle of blankets.
"Not hungry, hyung." Jeongguk mumbled, voice sounding strained and muffled.
Jin pulled the blankets back a bit to see the maknae's pale and sweaty face. Immediately worry took over, replacing the initial confusion because Jeongguk was never not hungry. Ever.
"Are you alright Jeongguk-ah?" Seokjin crouched down in front of the bed, a frown on his face.
Jeongguk pursed his lips as saliva gathered in his mouth, causing him to swallow convulsively. He tried to breathe steadily through his nose to control the ever rising nausea but all attempts were futile when a hiccup escaped him.
Luckily, Seokjin noticed it soon enough and hurried to get a bucket for him in time. Seokjin pulled him towards the edge of the bed so Jeongguk's face was above the bucket, no time left to sit him up as he burped, his cheeks puffing out and a stream of puke following immediately after.
The vomiting continued relentlessly for a little while, Jeongguk struggling to even get a breath in. Tears streamed down his face as he gagged loudly and Jin gently patted his back, hoping it would help in some way.
When the retching stopped being productive, Seokjin guided him through the painful dry heaves until it was finally over. Jeongguk was exhausted, breathing heavily but his arms were tight around his midsection. Getting sick made his stomach hurt even more.
Seokjin put away the vomit filled bucket and got a damp washcloth from the adjacent bathroom. He kneeled down in front of Jeongguk again, gently stroking the sweaty hair out of his face. He noticed the heat from the fever as his hand brushed the youngers skin.
"Hey, I'll clean your face a bit, Jeongguk-ah."
Jeongguk didn’t answer but he looked uncomfortable and sweaty so Jin gently wiped down his face, making sure to get all of the saliva and puke from his chin. Afterwards, he carefully guided Jeongguk into a more comfortable position, head resting on the pillow instead of on the edge of the bed.
"Here, take a few sips of water, Jeonggukie." Seokjin prompted gently and the boy complied.
Seokjin helped him, brow still creased in worry. He hadn’t really seen the boy all day so he had no idea he was feeling sick. But he knew Jeongguk spent most of the day in the studio anyway, recording parts for their new album.
"Did you catch a stomach bug? Since when are you feeling sick, Gguk-ah?" He asked as he put the glass away and tucked the blanket tightly around the maknae's shoulders.
"I don’t know. I don't feel good." Jeongguk whined miserably, carefully pulling his legs up a bit more as his middle hurt with a dull pain.
Seokjin hummed in sympathy, carding his fingers through Jeongguk's hair.
"Do you want to try and eat a little something? I can make you rice porridge."
Jeongguk shook his head, declining the offer. He really didn’t want to get sick again.
"You should try, Ggukie."
Again, Jeongguk shook his head and looked up at the elder with such sad eyes and a pout on his lips.
"Please, hyung, don't make me eat. Please, don't." He practically begged and that was so incredibly unusual for the youngest that Seokjin was taken aback for a moment. Jeongguk didn’t refuse food, even when he was sick; so for him to plead with him like that was a clear indication of just how bad he must be feeling.
"Alright, I won’t make you eat. Try to rest some more, I'll come back later." Seokjin agreed with a reassuring smile, "Do you need anything before I leave?"
Jeongguk gently shook his head, "No."
Jin was glad to see that the younger's eyes were closing already, his breathing evening out as he slipped into a soft slumber.
Before leaving, Seokjin left the cleaned out bucket in front of the bed, just in case, and refilled the glass with water.
"Ah, there you are finally! We thought we'd have to eat without you." Hoseok exclaimed teasingly when he saw Seokjin entering the room.
When they noticed that the oldest was alone, though, Namjoon wondered, "Oh, where's Jeonggukie?"
Jin sat down on his usual chair, a small concerned frown still apparent on his face as he informed them about the situation.
"Jeongguk-ah doesn’t feel well. He just threw up and doesn’t want to eat."
They all spoke up at once, their voices dripped in varying degrees of worry and sympathy for the youngest.
"He did seem tired during recording today but I didn’t think he's sick." Jimin thought out loud and the others hummed in acknowledgement.
"He was also the first one to leave today." Taehyung added.
Seokjin then remembered how he found the youngest dozing on the couch when he came home. He had thought he was the first one to arrive at the dorm so he was surprised when he found Jeongguk there already. However, he hadn’t found it strange and just thought he finished his recording session early and sent him off to his room to take a nap.
Jeongguk not attending their joined dinner dampened the mood but the members still enjoyed it, glad that they could spend the evening at home with each other. Yoongi made sure to put a small bowl to the side so he could offer it to Jeongguk later in case he changed his mind about not wanting to eat.
The boys talked about all kinds of random things, just exchanging whatever came to their minds with each other and they all felt a lot less stressed than they did these past few days. It was nice.
Yoongi knocked softly on the closed bedroom door to announce his presence before he entered the room.
The blankets shifted when he neared the bed and he noticed that Jeongguk was awake. Yoongi gently smiled at him as he squatted down in front of the bed.
"Hey Jeongguk-ah, what's wrong?"
Jeongguk pouted, "My stomach hurts and I feel nauseous, hyung."
Yoongi took in how pale and... sick the youngest looked. He reached out to see if Jeongguk's feverish as well and let out a little displeased sound at the heat he felt once his hand connected with Jeongguk’s sweaty forehead.
The older pulled himself up and handed Jungkook the water glass from his nightstand, "Take a few sips, I'll be right back."
Yoongi left the room to fetch a thermometer and some medicine for the poorly boy. He passed by Jimin, Taehyung and Hoseok in the living room, all of them glancing down the hallway he just emerged from before turning towards him.
"How's Ggukie doing?" Hobi inquired, eyebrows raised in curiosity.
"He's not feeling well. I assume he caught a stomach bug." Yoongi explained.
Hoseok warned, "Ah, be careful not to catch it, too, hyung!"
Yoongi merely told him he'd be fine before continuing with his task of getting something to help his maknae feel better. When he crossed the living room again on his way back, Jimin jumped up and followed him to Jeongguk’s room.
When the two entered, they were met with the miserable sight of the youngest dry heaving over the bucket in his lap. Their eyes widened comically before Yoongi composed himself and rushed to get to the sick boy.
Yoongi didn’t say anything, just placed a hand on Jungkook's back, rubbing it up and down, adding a little more pressure whenever he gagged. Yoongi was a comforting presence and, even though Jeongguk felt sick and disgusting, he was very grateful to have his hyung with him.
Jimin joined the two, sitting down on the edge of the bed by Jeongguk’s legs and wrapped his small hand around the youngers ankle, mumbling words of comfort as he forcefully brought up the few sips of water he had earlier.
The two helped Jeongguk through the unpleasant vomiting and once he was done Jimin took the bucket from him to clean it while Yoongi made sure he’s comfortable, curled up on his side, legs pulled towards his chest in attempt to ease the pain that only seemed to grow worse.
"Jeongguk-ah, let’s see what your temperature is." Yoongi murmured and gently tapped Jeongguk on the chin to prompt him to open his mouth for the thermometer.
When it beeped a little later the rapper looked at the display with a deep frown on his face.
"You don’t do things by halves, do you? 39° is pretty high."
Jeongguk tried for a small apologetic smile and Yoongi looked at him with that incredibly fond expression of his while gently ruffling his hair.
Jimin came back with the cleaned bucket in that moment. "It’s okay, we'll take care of you." he announced.
Yoongi gave him the fever reducers and pain relievers with the promise of them making him feel better. Or at least making him drowsy so he'd be able to sleep some more. It seemed to work well enough because once Jimin settled into the bed behind Jeongguk, hugging him gently, he dozed off.
Jeongguk was startled awake only a short while later when Seokjin entered the room. Jin hasn’t heard from the three members since after dinner so he wanted to see if everything was alright.
"I'm sorry, I didn’t mean to wake you up. I just wanted to see how you're doing."
The eldest sat down next to Yoongi, the two soothing Jeongguk into a relaxed state before he could work himself up and possibly get sick again. Jimin rubbed his back until he went lax in his arms.
"My belly really hurts, hyung."
Jimin snaked his arm around Jeongguk’s curled up form until he could rest his warm hand on his middle, just keeping it there for comfort. Jeongguk didn’t seem to mind.
"Poor Jeonggukie. You're feeling so sick, huh?" Jimin mumbled.
The door opened again and Namjoon poked his head in before he entered the room when he saw that Jeongguk was awake.
"Hey pukey." The leader greeted jokingly.
Jeongguk really wasn’t in the mood for teasing though, and a pout formed on his lips as he let out a sad whine, " Hyung~".
Luckily, Namjoon's great at reading people and understanding situations very quickly. He immediately got that the youngest really wasn’t feeling well and simply couldn’t deal with banter and teasing at the moment.
"I'm sorry baby, I love you." He told him fondly, stroking Jeongguk’s arm as he kneeled down in front of the bed.
"How about we all watch a movie together in the living room? Are you okay with that, Jeongguk-ah?" Namjoon suggested.
Namjoon, Hoseok and Taehyung were thinking about ways to cheer up their sick member and eventually decided that a movie night might be a good idea, provided that Jeongguk felt up to it. Namjoon had texted their manager and he allowed them all to take the next day off if needed but they'd keep in touch about the situation.
Jeongguk seemed to contemplate the offer for a bit. "I don’t know hyung... I still feel nauseous..." He told them, sounding unsure whether to agree to Namjoon's idea or turn it down and try to get some more sleep. He seriously doubted that would happen though, with the way his belly was hurting more and more.
Namjoon was quick to reassure him, making sure to let him know that it didn’t matter and they'd take care of him. They all just wanted him to feel better.
Jeongguk agreed, so Namjoon helped him into the living room where Taehyung and Hoseok already prepared the couch to make it as comfortable as possible. They also got a bucket ready just in case Jeongguk needed it, as well as some drinks and light snacks that didn’t smell so they wouldn’t set Jeongguk’s stomach off.
Jimin brought Jeongguk’s pillow and blanket with him, even though there already were a bunch in the living room. He just wanted the maknae to be comfortable.
Namjoon carefully guided the youngest to the couch. Walking seemed to be hard for Jeongguk, he was hunched over the whole way as if standing straight hurt him too much and he was breathing hard. It worried the other members. Jeongguk was fit, he worked out a lot, even in his free time, so he shouldn’t be so out of breath.
Hobi helped Namjoon to lay down Jeongguk, tucking him in while Jimin fluffed the pillows.
"There we go. Are you comfortable, Ggukie-yah?" Hoseok wanted to make sure everything was perfect for their sick maknae and he was ready to go to great lengths to assure his comfort and wellbeing.
Jeongguk, however, laid as still as possible, taking deep measured breaths through his nose. He had his lips tightly pressed together and seemed to become even paler than he already was. His hands were pressing down on his belly.
Jimin left to get a wet washcloth that he used to wipe down Jeongguk’s sweaty face and neck. The cold from it seemed to calm him down enough to relax and he opened his mouth to release a shaky breath.
"Are you okay now? Are you nauseous, Jeonggukie?" Jimin asked.
Jeongguk gave a small shake of his head before he clarified, "M'okay now."
Taehyung carefully lifted Jeongguk’s head up to then place it on the pillow in his lap. One hand found its way into the unkempt brown locks, messing them up more, while the other disappeared underneath the blanket so he could hold Jeongguk in somewhat of a hug.
Hoseok made himself comfortable by Jeongguk’s feet, rubbing them gently underneath the blanket and Jimin sat on the floor in front of them, ready to turn around and comfort the maknae should the need arise.
Namjoon sat down next to Jimin, while Yoongi and Seokjin settled on the couch. Once everyone was comfortable the leader turned off the lights with the remote and then started the movie. Taehyung chose Kimi no Na Wa and everybody was okay with it.
For about the first half of the movie, everything went well. The boys were all calm and relaxed and Hoseok glanced at Jeongguk every now and then to see if he finally fell alseep. He never did, though. The maknae looked a little dazed and very tired but his aching body didn’t allow him to drift off completely.
After a short while Jeongguk started to get restless. He kept shifting, first it were subtle movements that soon ended with him turning around and stretching his legs just to pull them back up again. It was very obvious that he was uncomfortable and hurting.
Taehyung leaned down, soft breath fanning over Jeongguk’s ear as he asked, "What's wrong, Ggukie?"
The maknae didn’t answer him verbally, instead, he wiggled forwards to lean over the bucket right in front of the couch.
His restlessness had caught everybody’s attention already, so they were prepared when he started heaving. Taehyung rubbed Jeongguk's back while Jimin ran his fingers through his hair.
Hoseok wasn’t the best when it came to dealing with sickness so he looked away but kept rubbing at Jeongguk's legs anyway. He wanted to provide at least a little bit of comfort in such an uncomfortable situation.
They were all so focused on Jeongguk that they only noticed that Yoongi left once he came back again with a bottle of water and a straw. He knelt down in front of Jeongguk who already stopped puking, his stomach empty and only able to bring up a few sips of water and stomach acid.
"Ggukie-yah, take a few sips." Yoongi offered the drink.
Jeongguk used the first few sips to wash out his mouth, spitting it into the bucket, before he dared to drink a little bit. It wasn’t nearly enough to rehydrate him but the boys didn’t want to push him and were glad that he didn’t protest the drink Yoongi offered him in the first place.
They continued watching the movie and then another one after that. They kept going like that for most of the night, no one even paying attention to whatever was playing on the TV.
Jeongguk didn’t throw up anymore after that so they managed to get a bit more water into him, which calmed down the older members a little bit.
All seven boys spent the night in the living room. Most of them managed to get a little bit of sleep at one point. Taehyung relocated to sit next to Jimin, the two of them cuddled up in each others arms in front of the couch and Hobi moved to lay behind Jeongguk, spooning him and gently cupping his hurting middle. He didn’t dare rubbing it because when he tried that earlier the youngest whined and curled up even tighter.
As the hours passed, Jeongguk only felt worse. The pain morphed into an agonising, sharp pain in his lower abdomen and he dreaded what it might be. He didn’t want it to be true so he didn’t tell any of his hyungs about the change, hoping he was wrong and everything would be better once he got some sleep.
It wasn’t until the early morning hours that Jeongguk managed to finally fall asleep, though. But only then did all of the members allow themselves to close their eyes and get some rest as well.
When Jeongguk woke up again it was to a very intense pain that left him dazed and confused and gasping for air at how painful it was. It felt like someone was stabbing him, twisting the knife to hurt him even more. That might have been the worst pain he ever felt in his life.
Nausea rose in the back of his throat and he started gagging. Suddenly there were hands on him, he could feel them but Jeongguk was unable to open his eyes. Jeongguk forcefully brought the water he had earlier that night back up but that only seemed to make the pain in his lower belly worse.
He thought he heard soft voices trying to shush him but he couldn’t be sure. Everything felt fuzzy and noises sounded far far away, almost as if he was submerged into water.
The feeling slowly faded and Jeongguk realised someone was hugging him to their chest. Peaches. It smelled like peaches. Jimin smelled like peaches.
Then, he registered the soft voice of his hyung, "Shh, it’s alright. Calm down, ahgi. I've got you."
For a second, Jeongguk tried to relax into his hyung's arms but the pain and the entire situation in general was so overwhelming to him, he couldn’t stop the tears when they started.
He was sobbing into Jimin's shoulder for a while, the older never once complaining or trying to move away. Quite the opposite actually as he hugged the youngest as tightly as he dared, whispering soft reassurances until Jeongguk finally calmed down.
Jeongguk doesn’t cry. Not easily, anyway so to see the maknae break down like that made all of them realise that they definitely weren’t dealing with a bad stomach flu here. They've doubted it anyway but Jeongguk's whole behaviour just confirmed it to them.
Luckily, Namjoon had been in contact with their manager Sejin for most of the night so he knew what was happening and was ready to take them to the hospital as soon as required.
They all slowly started to wash up and get dressed. Taehyung went to get a Tata plushie that he offered to Jeongguk, which the youngest accepted gratefully and pressed it into his stomach.
Jeongguk quietly lied on the couch, looking calm and so exhausted but the poor boy didn’t feel good at all. He just didn’t have the energy to do more than wince or groan every now and then when the pain got particularly bad.
Namjoon and Seokjin stood by the kitchen island, discussing who would break the news to the maknae that they'd need to take him to the hospital when Jeongguk himself spoke up in a small voice, barely audible from where they stood.
"Can we go to the hospital?"
Jeongguk sounded so miserable and he must have felt like it, too. It took them a few moments to register the words but once they did all of the boys got up and moving.
Yoongi immediately got a bag packed with the important things they might need, Namjoon shot Sejin a text and instantly got the response that he's on his way. Jimin sat with Jeongguk, talking to him, reassuring him and Hoseok sat with them, gently holding the maknae's hand in his. Taehyung went to get a fresh shirt, hoodie and sweats for him and Seokjin helped Jeongguk into them.
By the time Jeongguk was ready to leave, with a cap covering his messy hair and a mask hiding his face, Sejin arrived at the dorm.
"Aish, Jeongguk-ah, what are you doing, huh?" The man sighed as he kneeled down in front of the sick boy, "You're ready, yeah? Then let's go so you can get help quickly."
Jimin and Hoseok helped their maknae up, each movement hurting him. They all notices how his hand was cupping his right side protectively and felt a sense of foreboding.
"Hyung, can I come with you, please?" Jimin asked the manager, however, he was quick to shoot him down. It would complicate things, more people were easier to spot and they would attract more attention.
However, Yoongi really didn’t like the idea of the youngest being all alone so he argued, "One of us should come along, though. You're very close to all of us but I still think it would be more comforting to Jeongguk to have one of us with him. Also, we can tell the doctor what happened."
Without much further ado, Sejin told Yoongi to come along then and the two of them escorted Jeongguk towards the car. The others were following them, telling them to come back soon and not to worry, that everything would be fine now.
"Hyung's heart hurts seeing you so sick Ggukie-yah. Next time I see you, you have to be better, ahgi." Jimin told him, cupping Jeongguk's face.
"I'm sorry, hyung..." Jeongguk apologized and Jimin hugged him tightly, making sure to let the poor boy know that he loved him, that they all did, before stepping out of the car so Sejin and Yoongi could finally take the unwell maknae to a hospital.
At the hospital, it didn’t take very long to get a diagnosis. Acute Appendicitis, Yoongi texted the other members in their group chat, confirming their suspicions.
Now Jeongguk, Yoongi and Sejin were in the pre-op holding area, waiting for a nurse to get the former for his surgery.
The elder two tried to distract Jeongguk from the inevitable. He was visibly nervous and that was so unlike him. But Jeongguk was unwell, feeling so sick and in so much pain and now he was in a hospital, surrounded by plain white walls and the stinging smell of disinfectant. Sejin and Yoongi's words were comforting but it didn’t really change anything. Jeongguk appreciated it anyway.
It honestly felt like hours, it might have been hours, when the door opened and a nurse stepped in. She politely introduced herself before checking the IV in Jeongguk’s arm another nurse had set up earlier.
"Alright, then I'll be moving you into the operating room now." She announced after verifying all kinds of information.
Jeongguk squeezed Yoongi's hand a little when the elder held his out, telling him calming reassurances. Sejin encouragingly patted his shoulder before the nurse wheeled him out of the room.
When Jeongguk first came around everything was blurry and unrecognizable. He thought someone was calling his name but it sounded so far away he wasn’t sure.
It was a little overwhelming and his eyelids felt too heavy to open, so instead he closed them and allowed his body to rest some more.
The next time he drifted into a somewhat conscious state there definitely was someone talking to him. When he concentrated enough he could actually make out the words.
"Jeonggukie, are you back with us? Don’t worry, the surgery's over."
Ah, surgery. The surgery was over. Jeongguk was fine. He's recovered. Now, he could go home with Yoongi hyung and continue living his life. Continue working and doing whatever he was doing before.
Jeongguk tried to get up, ready to go home but he couldn’t. Everything around him was still so blurry, so hard to make out, his body felt heavy and his mind hazy. Why couldn’t he get up? He was fine so why couldn’t he get up?
"Jeongguk-ah, you need to rest to recover." Yoongi told him sternly.
"No- I'm... 'm recovered. Fine- I'm fine." Jeongguk protested weakly, his words slurred but he wholeheartedly believed it.
Yoongi carefully maneuvered the younger to lay down again, keeping a hand on his shoulder in case Jeongguk tried to stand up again.
"That's just the meds making you feel good right now, you need to rest some more Gguk-ah."
Yoongi wasn’t sure if his words got through to Jeongguk but he hummed quietly and didn’t try to get up again.
Jeongguk kept falling asleep, only waking up for short moments. At some point he was moved from the recovery room into a private room.
Sejin had left already, per Yoongi's request, and Yoongi was alone with the maknae. He kept the others updated via text messages. They desperately wanted to come and visit the youngest but Yoongi advised against it. It was getting late and Jeongguk was just sleeping anyway. He needed the rest and Yoongi thought it might be overwhelming to have all of the members there. He let them know that they would most likely come home the next day anyway.
Yoongi hoped they would. That no complications arose that would extend the hospital stay but he believed that everything looked well so far.
It was already dark outside when Jeongguk woke up again, fully conscious this time.
He wished he wasn’t, though. He was in pain and felt incredibly nauseous. Jeongguk didn’t want to throw up again, he tried taking measured breaths through his nose but it wasn’t doing much for him.
Yoongi sat by his bedside, watching him carefully. When Jeongguk slowly sat up and tried to get out of bed again Yoongi was quick to hold him down. "What do you think you're doing?"
Jeongguk looked at him wide-eyed. "I- I need the bathroom, hyung."
"Ah, just- one second, I'll call the nurse. I don’t think you should just get up." Yoongi explained, pushing the nurse call button and soon enough, one came in.
Together, they carefully helped Jeongguk to the adjacent bathroom, waiting for him outside. It was obvious that he was in pain and very weak at the moment. Yoongi understood that very well, having gone through the same thing a few years prior.
Yoongi and the nurse assisted Jeongguk in getting back into bed. He curled up once he was under the thin covers. "It hurts and I feel so sick."
The nurse did a quick check-up before she handed him a cup of water and painkillers. "Take these. It might take a little bit but then you'll feel better."
She stayed until Jeongguk swallowed the pills and then left, telling them not to hesitate to call her again if they needed to.
"Hyung~" Jeongguk whined miserably.
"I know, Jeonggukie." Yoongi comforted him, running his hand through the maknae's messy hair and down his back and then up again.
For the next 20 minutes, Jeongguk still expected to throw up, the nausea not getting any better but at least the pain slowly subsided. Yoongi sat with him, comforting him and his calming presence made the youngest relax enough for him to fall asleep.
Jeongguk woke up several times throughout the night but Yoongi was always by his side within seconds. Luckily, he never vomited and they didn’t need the nurse again, either.
The next morning, Jeongguk had a few checks and after the doctor explained to them how to take care of everything at home he got discharged.
Yoongi informed manager Sejin and soon he arrived, together with Jimin to pick them up.
"Aigoo! My poor Jeonggukie!" Jimin very carefully cupped Jeongguk's cheeks and leaned their foreheads together. "Are you in a lot of pain, ahgi?"
Jeongguk shrugged, he wasn’t in too much pain, it was okay but he felt very weak and tired still.
"Let's go home, Ggukie-yah."
Jimin helped him get dressed into the fresh clothes he brought with him. The loose sweats and oversized shirt were comfortable, not constricting Jeongguk's bloated tummy and putting unnecessary pressure on it.
All four of them put on hats and face masks in an attempt to stay unnoticed. They hoped no one would recognize them as they slowly walked to the car. Jimin stayed glued to Jeongguk’s side, Yoongi was thankful that he could let his guard down a little. He had barely slept for the past two nights so he was exhausted but he was sure all of them were.
Sejin dropped them off at the dorm. He wanted to come in and help them but Jimin insisted that they were fine and he should go home, they'd let him know if they needed anything at all.
Jeongguk was exhausted. He nearly fell asleep on the ride home but he got increasingly more uncomfortable, which made sleeping impossible. He just wanted to go to bed and sleep until he felt fine again.
When they finally entered the dorm the other members eagerly awaited them already. They were careful when they greeted their maknae, knowing that he’s still hurting and very exhausted.
"Welcome home, Gguk-ah." Namjoon enveloped him in the most gentle hug ever. "You must be very tired still so how about you go and take a nap, baby?"
Hoseok intervened, taking Jeongguk from Namjoon and guiding him to his own bedroom. "Let’s cuddle, Jeongguk-ah."
He carefully laid the youngest down, pulling the blanket over him before Hoseok himself settled behind Jeongguk, spooning him.
Before either of them could fall asleep Yoongi entered the room with a glass of water and Jeongguk's medicine. "You should take these before the pain gets too bad Jeongguk-ah."
The youngest complied willingly. He didn’t want to feel worse than he did already so he would rather follow his hyung's orders.
"Yoongi hyung, you should go to sleep, too. I'm sure you didn’t sleep much last night, either." Hoseok shooed him out and Yoongi left to take a long nap as well.
"Rest now, Jeonggukie." Hobi whispered. He hesitated to put his arm around Jeongguk. He didn’t want to hurt him but eventually Hoseok placed his hand very tenderly on top of Jeongguk's bloated belly. "Sleep well, ahgi-yah."
All six members took care of Jeongguk. Sejin made sure that none of them had to go to work for as long as Jeongguk recovered. Initially they had felt bad about it, seeing as they were in the middle of album preparations but they accepted it and made sure to rest as well while looking after their youngest member.
For the first week or so Jeongguk mainly just slept anyway, the poor boy was so exhausted but he slowly started to feel better.
After about two weeks the doctor cleared him for light activities which was good because the maknae was starting to get bored and frustrated with the situation. His hyungs told him to be patient, to take it slow and use the time to rest properly but it was hard when he could barely do anything. They all tried to keep him entertained in different ways but even that was starting to get boring.
It was only three weeks later that Jeongguk fully felt like himself again. He was finally allowed to go back to his normal schedule and the boys could continue working on their album; recording songs, learning new choreographies and taking many shots for the different album versions.
"Ah, Jeonggukie managed to turn one free evening into a three week vacation." Hoseok joked when they all were in the studio together for once, recording a new song.
"I'd rather not have any vacations at all if it's like that..." Jeongguk moaned. He was so glad he had finally recovered.
Namjoon patted his shoulder. "Don't worry, it's not possible for you to go through that again, Jeongguk-ah."
If you want to give feedback, I'd appreciate it but please be gentle, I'm sensitive.

One Shot Everything’s Going to be Alright
Summary: Ryan wasn’t born what he wanted to be. But he has a wonderful boyfriend with the Fake AH Crew to support him. Then, he’s not careful and he and his boyfriend have to deal with the consequence for the rest their lives. Maybe, the consequence won’t turn out to be bad at all.
Word Count: 9,064
Pairing: Gavin/Ryan
AO3
The Vagabond was the most terrifying man in Los Santos. He had a lot of pent up anger and distaste for the world, and he thought being a killer for hire, a mercenary, would be a productive way to get it out of his system. He was very angry with the world mostly because he was not born into the right body. The Vagabond, James Ryan Haywood, had actually been born Jane Ryley Haywood.
When he had tried to come out to his parents as a boy, they brushed him off, claiming that it was just a tomboy phase. He ran away from his home in Georgia and off to Los Santos after that. He had partnered up with another girl he met in Los Santos, who went by Dollface, and worked with her for quite a few years. A time went on, Ryan’s name as the Vagabond grew. Eventually, the girl joined an all-girl gang, called the Los Santos Sirens, and Ryan and his partner separated. The two still kept in touch, anyway.
Even with the Vagabond working solo, the notoriety and fear that came with the reputation he’d built continued to grow. Eventually, jobs offered by the infamous Fake AH Crew landed on his desk. He was honored to be getting bigger jobs like this. After about three jobs with the crew, he was asked to join them full time. He gladly accepted, he thought maybe this crew could be the family he always should have had. Though, he never planned to come out as trans to them, hoping they would only ever know him as Ryan.
Th crew offered him a room in their penthouse, which he gladly accepted. He sold off his apartment so he could start HRT. He had begun to grow more facial hair and have more muscle definition. His more defined masculine looks caught the attention of the Golden Boy, Gavin Free. Gavin had no idea what Ryan spent his heist money on, so he began to treat Ryan. That led to the two of them having feeling for each other
The two of them eventually started dating and there was a sense of harmony throughout the penthouse, considering everyone saw it coming. The only thing that was slightly confusing about the relationship to Gavin was that Ryan refused to get physically intimate with him nor would he ever let him see him naked. Gavin assumed that was because Ryan was asexual or something. Gavin learned the real reason when he walked in on Ryan changing.
He saw Ryan with a binder on. Ryan saw Gavin and quickly put his shirt back on and tried to run. Gavin locked the door, not allowing him run. He quickly assured him that his physical parts don’t change the fact that he still sees him as Ryan. Ryan blinked in surprise, smiled, and the encounter finally turned intimate, after that. Thus, the two of them began to have a very active sex life.
Gavin was with Ryan for every step of his transition after that, as well. He would go pick up his HRT and feminine supplies, until Ryan stopped needing them. He took care of him when he was recovering from Top surgery. He had even started looking into who the best surgeon for Bottom surgery in the country was, for Ryan. Everything was going well, until the crew got super busy and Ryan missed his monthly HRT shot…
 8 WEEKS
After Ryan had missed his HRT, he decided to wait until after he got his period again before he started it back up. When it didn’t come, at first, he assumed it was because of leftover hormones in his system. Then, he started to constantly feel nauseous. This caused irrational paranoia to set in. One May afternoon, Ryan decided to test if his irrational paranoia was actually correct.
He sat patiently on the toilet, waiting for the results of his third pregnancy test. The first two had come back positive, be he wasn’t going to believe them until he had three tests to tell him that he actually was pregnant.
The third one finally gave him a positive result. He gasped, he didn’t think that something like this would ever happen to him. He dropped his head in his hands and sighed, he wasn’t quite sure what to do. He had always wanted kids one day, but had had given up on that when he decided to become a mercenary and started HRT.
Suddenly, he heard a knocking on the bathroom door. “RYAN,” Lindsay’s voice called out. “YOU ALMOST DONE IN THERE? CAUSE I HAVE TO PEE.”
Ryan quickly grabbed the pregnancy tests and shoved them in his pocket. He got up and unlocked the bathroom door. “Sorry,” he apologized.
“It’s okay, but can you not block the bathroom so I can use it?”
Ryan nodded and began to shuffle out of the way. “Do you know where Gavin is?”
“Lads are playing Hitman in the living room,” Lindsay quickly replied as she slammed the bathroom door shut.
Ryan took a deep breath and sighed, he knew what he had to do next. He walked over to the living room to see the lads trying to outdo each other with creative assassinations in the game. He tapped Gavin in the shoulder. “Gavin, we need to talk,” he started.
“Not right now,” Gavin quickly replied, not looking up from the TV screen.
“Or you could do it right now,” Michael popped in.
“Distracting Gavin would make things easier for us,” Jeremy added.
“I think I found out why I’ve been nauseous lately,” Ryan continued, ignoring everyone.
“Yeah, Gavin’s ugly face,” Michael joked.
“Oh, come off it,” Gavin retorted. “What actually is it, love?”
“It’s something I need to tell you in private,” Ryan finished, emphasizing the need to do this privately.
“Can it wait until after this?”
Ryan’s eyebrows furrowed. “No,” he answered as he picked Gavin up off of the couch, slung him over his shoulder, and marched out and to their room. Once he got there, he set Gavin down and closed the door.
“RYAN, WHAT THE HELL?!” Gavin angrily demanded.
Ryan sighed, this was the moment of truth. “You know I missed my HRT back in February, right?” he asked.
“Yah, and you were gonna wait until you got your period again. I know this, already!”
“But, it never came.”
“Probably cause leftover hormones.
“I think I know what my nausea is,” Ryan said, to get back to the point.
“Right, but I don’t see what that has to do with,”
“It’s morning sickness!” he finally spat out.
Gavin raised eyebrows. “Ryan, you’re being irrationally paranoi-,” Ryan grabbed the positive pregnancy tests out of his jacket and threw them at Gavin. One of them hit him in the face and fell into his lap. He saw that it was a pregnancy test and gagged, “Oh my god, you hit me with sticks you peed on!”
“Look closer at them,”’ Ryan demanded.
Gavin forced himself to stop gagging so he could take a closer look. He looked closer at the one that fell on his lap and saw that it was positive. “Ryan,” then he looked back up at him, “oh Ryan, what are you going to do?” he asked.
“What am I going to do? What are we going to do?! Cause I sure as fuck ain’t going through this, alone.”
Gavin looked down and sighed. “Right.”
“So, what do you think, Gavin?”
Gavin looked back up and sighed. “Well, ever since Michael and Lindsay had their little Sophie, I had been wanting a little sprog of my own. But since you started your,”
“Then we keep it,” Ryan interrupted.
“Ryan,”
“Look, I always wanted a biological kid, myself. I gave up on that idea for the same reasons as you. Now, this could be our only shot at this, so I’m not giving it up. I can go back to my transition afterwards.”
Gavin’s face lit up with excitement. “Ryan, we’re going to be parents!” he exclaimed as he got up and rushed over to Ryan to give him a kiss. He stopped as he pulled Ryan into an embrace, “wait, but this means you’re gonna have to come out to the crew,” he pointed out.
“We’ll,” Ryan stopped and sighed, “we’ll cross that bridge when we get to it.”
Gavin nodded. “Oh, Ryan,” he cooed as he pulled Ryan into a deep kiss. This was going to be an interesting rest of the year, but they knew it was going to be alright.
 14 WEEKS
Things had begun to change for Ryan in ways. Raging hormones had made Ryan much more irritable. Gavin was afraid at first, but mood swings immediately flipped the emotion switch and Ryan would apologize for his poor behavior. Ryan had also become constantly tired. Constant exhaustion and irritability made the interrogations Ryan conducted much more sinister and hostile.
A more noticeable change was Ryan’s cravings. He had desired odd combinations such as pickles and ice cream. Ryan had hated pickles before the pregnancy, but couldn’t get enough of them, now. Though even with all the other changes, he still had his thing for diet coke. Gavin had to step in after reading that caffeine was bad during pregnancy. Ryan reluctantly agreed to switch to caffeine-free diet coke for the time being.
The most noticeable change was that Ryan started to gain some pudge around his stomach. When Gavin pointed this out and went to pat Ryan’s belly, his hand got smacked away. He was self-conscious about anyone recognizing his pregnancy. He already wore looser shirts so he could hide it, he still wasn’t ready for the crew to know about it.
The only other crew member who knew about Ryan’s pregnancy was Lindsay. Ryan had already come out to Lindsay as FTM trans a while ago, and the only reason he told her that he was pregnant, was because she had found empty pregnancy test boxes in the bathroom that weren’t hers. She promised Ryan that she wouldn’t tell anyone.
An afternoon in early June, was when Ryan suggested that he and Gavin go out to meet his old friend, his first partner in crime in Los Santos. They planned on asking her to be their child’s godparent since Ryan wasn’t comfortable sharing his pregnancy with Geoff. He and Gavin were walking to the door when Ryan stopped and took a whiff of the air and smelled something divine.
“Love?” Gavin asked to try and get Ryan’s attention.
“What is that?” Ryan asked as he turned towards the smell. He saw Michael and Jeremy eating something at the kitchen table.
“Fried pickles, dude,” Michael answered as he shoved one in his mouth.
Ryan quickly walked over to the table, “May I have one?” he asked, gingerly, as he got to the table.
“Sure,” Jeremy answered.
He picked one of and took a bite. His eyes blew up, wide at the taste. He moaned in pleasure at the taste. “Oh, deese ah orgammic,” he gushed with his mouth full of pickle.
“Ryan, we’re going to be late for lunch. And I’m sure the place we’re going has fried pickles,” Gavin called out in an attempt to get Ryan’s attention again.
Ryan quickly turned back to Gavin, “Right,” he acknowledged as ha ran back over to Gavin. The two of them exited the penthouse.
20 minutes later they arrived at a diner, Last Train in Los Santos. Gavin scanned the front patio for any possible hostiles, when he spotted a familiar purple haired woman in glasses looking over the menu. Gavin began to shake as Ryan spotted her, as well. “MEG!” Ryan called out to get her attention and started to wave.
The woman looked up from her menu and smiled, wide, as she saw Ryan. “RYAN!” she cheered as she got up to give him a huge hug.
Gavin began to shake more violently. “You’re… you’re…”
Ryan started to rub Gavin’s back. “Gavin, this is Meg, my best friend outside of the crew.”
“And you’re Gavin. I’ve heard all about you from what Ryan’s told me. And seeing you in person is only proving that Ryan has good taste in men,” Meg compliment.
“You’re Dollface?” Gavin asked this time.
“Yep,” she confirmed.
Gavin grabbed Ryan’s hand and shook harder. “Ryan, she’s Dollface!”
“Breath sweetheart, I know that,” he instructed. “We’ve known each other since long before the names, Dollface or Vagabond, meant anything.”
“Yeah, and it’s been Ryan’s persuasive reasoning that stops the Los Santos Sirens from starting anything with the Fakes,” Meg added in an attempt to calm Gavin down. Gavin’s eye’s widened in surprise that Ryan had been preventing crew conflict.  He took a deep breath and sighed. “Right then, do we want to go back and sit down? I already have a table for us,” she finished as she began to walk back to her table.
“Sitting down sounds like a dream right now. Come on, Gavin,” he commented as he took Gavin’s hand and followed Meg.
Gavin looked at how honest, caring, and cheerful Dollface was right now. He could see why Ryan had remained friends with Dollface, no, Meg, for so long. “Right, so what’s good on the menu?” he asked as he and Ryan sat down.
“Quick question though, does this place have fried pickles,” Ryan quickly asked.
“They do, but I thought you hated pickles,” Meg commented.
“Normally, I do hate them, but I’m actually rather fond of them at the moment.”
“Ha! You wouldn’t like pickles unless you were pregnant,” she joked.
“Well…” Ryan trailed off as he began to rub his arm, nervously. Gavin grabbed his hand and be began to rub circles in it to comfort him.
Meg looked up and saw the affection. Her eyes widened. “Oh my god, you are. Oh my god, Ryan!” she cheered as she quickly got up and gave Ryan a hug. “Congratulations!”
“Thank you,” he replied, graciously.
“You have to tell me all the details,” Meg demanded as she sat back down.
“Well, the little one is due in December,” Gavin started.
“And before you ask, no, we haven’t told the crew.” Ryan clarified.
“Oh,” Meg replied, sadly.
“But, Ryan, here, wanted us to ask you something,” Gavin filled back in.
“What is it?” Meg asked Ryan.
“Well, I wanted to do more than just tell you, I’m pregnant,” Ryan started.
“Well, what else is there?”
“I wanted Gavin, here, to meet you because I wanted him to know the person we were gonna be asking to be the godparent.”
Meg’s mouth dropped in shock, “Me?”
“Yes, you. If… you’d be okay with that.”
“Holy shit, I would love to be Mini Meg’s godmother!”
Gavin twisted his head in confusion and Ryan snorted. “Mini Meg, really?” Ryan asked with a smirk.
“That has to be its name now.”
Ryan sighed and smiled. He looked over at Gavin, and Gavin smiled in return. They both knew everything was going to be alright.
 18 WEEKS
As expected with pregnancy, Ryan’s body continued to change. He continued to grow sleepier, and he couldn’t tell if it was psychosomatic of not, but he swore we was starting to feel movement in his lower abdomen. Gavin began to grow uneasy about Ryan going out to do missions for the crew, even offering to teach Ryan some hacking techniques. Ryan refused at first, claiming that he was still fit to do his work as crew muscle. Gavin finally demanded that Ryan take a break from missions after he got grazed by a bullet in the shoulder.
Ryan said he still needed to exercise, though. He asked Gavin to go weightlifting with him at the gym, saying that maybe they could try to switch roles in the crew. Ryan would be the lead hacker while Gavin could get to be the crew muscle. Gavin happily agreed to those terms.
Ryan’s stomach continued to expand, beginning to look more like a baby belly, rather than a pot belly. Gavin had a greater desire to pet Ryan’s stomach, and would ask permission before he tried anything. Ryan was very reluctant to agree, seeing as he was very self-conscious about his pregnancy and still hiding it from the rest of the crew.
In mid/late July, Gavin had stepped out to work out a negotiation. Ryan waited on the couch, patiently, for him back at the penthouse. As the hours passed, Ryan dozed off. He had been fast asleep, so he didn’t hear footsteps approaching the couch. “Ryan?” a voice asked. Ryan continued to snore. “RYAN!” the voice yelled to wake him up.
“GGGAAAAHHHH!” Ryan yelped as he jumped. He looked to see who had woken him up, to see it was Geoff. “Yes?” he asked, with a yawn.
“So, Gavin asked me not to put you on any missions,” Geoff started.
“I know,” he replied, groggily.
“And, I was wondering if everything is okay with the two of you. I mean, is he trying to be too controlling or something? Cause I’ve seen him try to control your actions, even seen him trying to control your diet.”
Ryan blinked and sat up. “Everything’s fine between us. He just wants me to be healthy.”
“Well, I’m not sure it’s working ‘cause it looks to me like you’ve been eating a bit on the side with that beer belly you started rockin’ there,” Geoff commented as he went to go poke Ryan’s stomach.
Ryan quickly swatted Geoff’s hand away. “DON’T TOUCH THAT!!!! I CAN’T DRINK ALCOHOL ANYWAY! CAN’T AND WON’T!!!” then he got up. “I’m going back to my room, don’t follow me,” he demanded as he shuffled away. Geoff just sighed.
20 minutes later Gavin came back. “RYAN, I’M BACK!” then he looked around and saw Geoff sitting on the couch, alone. “Where’s Ryan, I thought he’d be waiting there for me,” he asked as he walked over to Geoff.
“I asked him what you were doing to make him stress eat so much, on the side, and he wouldn’t tell me,” Geoff started.
“Oh no…”
“And when I went to poke his beer belly, he swatted my hand away and ran off. So, tell me, Gavin, what are you doing to him that’s making him do this to himself?”
“I…” then Gavin sighed, “I can’t tell you.”
“Seriously!?”
“I want to bloody tell you!” he cried, “but, I promised Ryan I wouldn’t tell a soul. This whole ordeal is a lot bigger that it may seem on the surface!”
“Well if it that big of a deal, you better tell me before Ryan gets any bigger!”
Gavin sighed again, “I know,” he said to himself. “Listen, I’ll go talk to Ryan, but you have to get the whole crew together. We’re gonna need to fill the whole crew in.”
“Got it,” Geoff confirmed with a thumb up.
Gavin found Ryan in his room sitting in his bed with his face in a pillow. “Rye?” he asked as he walked in.
Ryan lifted his head to reveal a damp face and red eyes. “Gav?” he choked.
“Oh, Rye-bread,” he replied softly as he walked over to the bed and got on to hold Ryan. Ryan smiled softly at the nickname. “What happened, love?”
Ryan frowned again. “Geoff called me fat, then tried to poke our little one.”
“Oh love, it will be okay,” Gavin comforted. Ryan snorted mucus back into his nose, in response. “But, the little one is starting to grow big.”
Ryan sighed glumly, “I know.”
“I think it might be time we tell everyone about the little guy.”
“But, but, that would mean,” Ryan began to shake in fear.
“I know what it means love. But, we prepared for this.”
“Hey,” a voice, Michael’s, came from the other side of the door, “are you guys coming? We heard you had an announcement.”
“Well, it looks like this is it. You ready?” Ryan nodded, sadly. “BE THERE IN A MINUTE!” Gavin called back as he rolled off of the bed. “Need help getting up?” Ryan shook his head and slid off the bed. “Do you want me to grab your senior yearbook?”
“I got it,” Ryan answered as he walked over to his desk, sighed, and grabbed his yearbook.
Then Gavin held out his hand. “You ready, love?” he asked again.
Ryan sighed one more time, “as ready as I’ll ever be,” he finished as he took Gavin’s hand. The two of them walked out of the room.
They entered the crew meeting room to find the main crew sitting around the table. “So, you have a big announcement, I hear,” Jack stated.
Ryan looked nervously at Gavin and he gave him reassuring look to let him know that it would be okay. Ryan gulped. “I uh, wanted to show you my senior yearbook photo,” he announced as he began flipping through the yearbook to find his photo.
“Ugh, lame!” Jeremy groaned.
Ryan rolled his eyes at that and put the book, opened to the page with his senior portrait, down on the table and pointed to his photo. The crew gathered around to look.
“Jane Ryley Haywood?” Michael read, “I didn’t know you had a sister.”
“It’s interesting to see your sister’s portrait, but where’s yours?” Jack asked.
Ryan took a deep breath and sighed, this was finally it. “I, I don’t have a sister.”
“Then who’s,” Michael began to ask.
“It’s my portrait. Jane Ryley is me, who I used to be,” Ryan took another deep breath. “My whole life, I thought I was born in the wrong body. I wanted to fix that when I moved to Los Santos,”
“So, you’re trans?” Jeremy asked. Ryan nodded gingerly to answer. “You know, that’s actually pretty cool.”
Geoff’s eyebrows furrowed, “and know you’re leaving the crew,” he guessed.
Ryan’s head shot up and his eyes looked like they were beginning to water. “What?” he asked as he begun to shake with fear.
Gavin tried to hold Ryan, “Geoff, please don’t kick him out of the crew,” he pleaded.
“I’m not,” Geoff started. “Kdin left the crew the day after she came out to the crew as a woman, I can only assume Ryan’s doing the same thing.”
Ryan sighed in relieve at the fact that he wasn’t being kicked out. “Geoff, no. I was already in my true, male, identity when I joined the crew. And Kdin left because the Los Santos Sirens offered her a job to do exactly what she wanted to be doing. It was nothing against you,” he informed Geoff.
“So, you’re not planning on leaving the crew?”
“I’ll stay as long as you’ll have me.”
“Alright then.”
“Congrats on coming out,” Jeremy cheered in support. The rest of the crew clapped along as well.
Ryan smiled and Gavin rubbed his back, “You did it love,” he congratulated.
“Ha, now that you have the stress of hiding in the closet gone, you can work on losing that stress weight,” Geoff commented.
Ryan’s eye’s widened again and he looked back to Gavin for reassurance. “It’s alright, love. You did the hard part, so this part should be easy in comparison.”
Ryan nodded and took a deep breath. “I… can’t lose this weight right now…”
“Why not?”
“I uh… can’t lose it till December.”
“Wait, let me guess,” Jeremy started, “you have a stomach tumor and you’re getting it removed in December.”
Ryan did a double face palm and Gavin sighed. “Don’t call ‘em a tumor,” he whined
“I just came out as FTM transsexual, and you think I came out because I have stomach cancer?!” Ryan demanded.
“Then, what is it?”
“Take a wild guess!”
Jeremy looked at Ryan confused. Then, Michael looked Ryan up and down, “Ryan, are you… pregnant?” he asked.
Ryan nodded. “Yeah.”
“Ryan and I are having a baby! We’re gonna be parents!” Gavin cheerfully announced.
The rest of the crew began clapping wildly. “Congratulations!”  Jack congratulated.
“I guess that means I’m a granddad, now,” Geoff laughed.
“Sophie’s gonna have a buddy on the crew!” Michael cheered as he ran over to Gavin and gave him a noogie, “I can’t believe Golden Boy knocked the Vagabond up,” he teased as he gave him the noogie.
“Micool!” Gavin complained.
Ryan looked over and chuckled. Gavin’s eyes met his and they both smiled, they knew everything was going to be alright.
 20 WEEKS
Coming out to the crew was a huge weight off of Ryan’s shoulders. He was a lot more eager to learn Gavin’s hacking techniques, and Gavin was happy to teach. Ryan was also happy to help Gavin train to become more adept at intimidating people during interrogations, even teaching him how to throw knives. He even helped Gavin train at the gym until his stomach rounded, had grown a bit too large, and he no longer has the energy to teach or do intense work outs. He asked Michael to step in as a trainer and he happily obliged.
As Ryan’s stomach continued to grow, Ryan had to find even larger shirts and switch to sweatpants. He wasn’t as self-conscious about it after he came out, but he still wasn’t a fan of anyone touching his stomach. This was why Ryan had postponed his ultrasound. He knew he was pregnant, but the thought of another living being growing inside of him was a bit to freaky for him. He didn’t want a photo reminder of the fact that he was pregnant.
Since the only doctor Ryan saw outside of Andy, the crew doctor, was his OB/GYN. Ryan was pretty reluctant to visit his gynecologist, but he knew that he still had to go see her to check up on the baby and so he and Gavin could figure out the sex of their child. So, Gavin scheduled Ryan’s appointment for an ultrasound, the first week of August.
Gavin opened the door to the doctor’s office, and held it open for Ryan. When Ryan wasn’t moving towards the door, he got worried. “You alright, love? Can you not walk?” he asked, concerned.
Ryan groaned, “I can walk, I just don’t want to be here.”
Gavin old his eyes, “oh, come off it.” He then went to go grab Ryan’s wrist and drag him into the office. “We should have done this at 18 weeks, but we were too busy coming out to the crew, yah.”   Ryan groaned, once more. The two of them walked to the receptionist’s desk. “Excuse us, we’re here for Mr. Haywood’s 1:30 appointment for an ultrasound,” he informed her.
The receptionist looked at her computer to check Ryan in. “I have you down,” she started. Then she looked him up and down, “though, I don’t understand why a man would go to a gynecologist’s office for an ultrasound.”
Ryan gave a small smile at her obliviousness. “It’s a, uh, small exception.”
She raised her eyebrow, “alright. Just have a seat and the doctor will come get you when she’s ready for you.”
“Come on, love,” Gavin directed Ryan to one of the seats in the waiting room. Ryan grumbled as he walked over to the seats. Gavin rubbed Ryan’s back as he joined him. “Aren’t you excited to find out what we’re having, though?”
“We’re having a baby, we already know that.”
“No, I mean whether we’re having a boy or a girl.”
Ryan scowled. “We won’t know whether they’re a boy or a girl until they know whether they’re a boy or a girl or something else.”
Gavin shook his head, “no, no, I didn’t mean gender,” he clarified. Ryan jut sighed in response.
15 minutes later, a woman doctor with long, blonde hair stepped out. “Mr. Haywood?” she called out.
“Over here,” Gavin called out.
She nodded, “Come on back, the room’s all set up,” she informed them as she motioned for them to follow her. Gavin stood up and grabbed Ryan’s hand. Ryan sighed and stood up, as well. the two of them followed the doctor. “How are you feeling?” she asked Ryan.
“I hate what pregnancy is doing to me,” he admitted.
“And why’s that?”
“I’m not allowed to do my job, and even if I was, I’d be too tired to do anything. I’m an emotional train-wreck. I’m fatter than I’ve ever been. I wouldn’t hate the cravings if thy weren’t making me even fatter. I pass gas a lot more than I used to, and that’s just embarrassing.”
“It’s not really that bad, Rye,” Gavin reassured him.
“You won’t let me be the little spoon because you don’t want me to fart on you! And it’s starting to get difficult for me to be the big spoon,” Ryan complained.
“Well…” Gavin’ face went red with embarrassment.
The group arrived at the room for the ultrasound. “Alright, here we are,” she informed the group, “Ryan, you lay down on the exam table,” she instructed. Ryan sighed and followed directions. Gavin went in to follow him, but the doctor stopped him. “Can I assume that you’re the baby’s father?” she asked him.
“Yeah, I’m Gavin, the baby’s, uh, other father,” he corrected her.
“Right, I should have known that. My apologizes. I’m Dr. Atkinson,” she introduced herself, at the end.
“Pleasure,” Gavin greeted back, offering a hand to shake. The two of them walked into the room.
Dr. Atkinson walked over to Ryan and grabbed the ultrasound gel. “Can you lift up your shirt, for me?” she asked him.
He whined and looked at Gavin. “I promise not to look at your tummy,” Gavin promised. Ryan sighed and lifted his shirt.
The doctor squirted lubricating jelly onto Ryan’s stomach. “Jesus! Why is that so cold?!” he demanded.
“Just relax,” she assured him as she began to rub the ultrasound transducer on the lubricated area. Images of the fetus began to appear on the television screen beside her. Ryan’s eyes were transfixed on his stomach.
Gavin’s eyes skipped over Ryan and looked at the screen. His eyes lit up as soon as he saw the fetus. His smile grew wide as he began to wave at the screen. “Hi, little guy. Can’t wait to meet you,” he told the image.
“Gavin, I thought you said you wouldn’t look at my stomach!” Ryan growled.
“I’m not looking at you, you dunce! I’m looking at our baby, through the ultrasound,” Gavin quickly fired back. “Why aren’t you looking, too? It’s quite extraordinary, getting to see our baby.”
“I…,” then Ryan took a deep breath and finally looked at the screen, as well. His serious expression melted the second, he saw his baby. “I… wow!” he breathed out with a smiled. “You’re going to be my world,” he told the screen.
Gavin looked at Ryan and smirked. “That’s a big title you put on the baby,” he commented.
Ryan rolled his eyes, then looked back at Gavin. “Our world,” he corrected himself.
Gavin sighed and shook his head, “right.”
Dr. Atkinson, who had been looking at the television screen, look at Ryan and Gavin. “Well, everything seems to be looking normal with the baby. Everything’s right on track for their December due date. Would you like to know the sex of the baby?” she asked.
“I don’t think that will be necessary,” Ryan told her.
“Well, I’d like to know,” Gavin commented.
Ryan shook his head and sighed, “then, let’s hear it,” he relented.
Sex and gender were touchy subjects for Ryan. He didn’t see the importance of know which set of genitals his child had, seeing as his gender identity may not end up matching them. Or the child could end up normal, nobody really knew for sure. He was just glad he got to see his baby as best he could. It only took one look at the child for him to know that everything was going to be alright.
 25 WEEKS
As the little baby grew within Ryan larger, the child became very active. The kid would constantly be moving around, wiggling and kicking Ryan’s organs around. Ryan had to pee a lot more because his bladder was constant target for kicking practice. The child’s constant movement was starting to keep Ryan awake more, but he still didn’t mind any of it. The beginning of September came, and Ryan was spending most of his time either in the tech room, the bathroom peeing, or snoozing in his room.
Fakehaus members, Bruce and James were visiting the crew one day in mid-September. They were hoping to work out some territory disputes. They decided not to make this a formal meeting, opting to have it in the living room to make it more casual.
Geoff and Bruce sat in chairs facing each other, while Gavin and James sat on the couch in the middle.
“Look, your crew has control over South Los Santos, what more do you want?” Geoff asked.
“South Los Santos is predominantly African American, and we’re kinda a crew of white guys,” James pointed out as he played with his knife.
“How about East Los Santos, then?” Gavin proposed.
“We were actually thinking a bit of upper class stuff. Like maybe parts of Rockford Hills?” Bruce requested.
“I’m not sure that,” Geoff was cut off.
“Ryan, what are you doing!?” Gavin quietly demanded at the larger man quietly walking out and toward the kitchen.
“Sprog’s being rowdy. Figured diet coke might calm him down,” Ryan yawned.
“Wait, Is that you, Vagabond?” Bruce asked, surprise.
Ryan’s eyes widened as soon as he realized he was being called out. “I…”
“Holy shit Vagabond, you’re huge! what made you blow up like a balloon?” James commented, next.
Ryan took a deep breath. “Don’t worry about it,” he breathed out.
“No seriously, what happened to you?” Bruce pressed.
Ryan scowled. “It’s none of your goddamn business what happened,” he stated firmly.
“If it wasn’t impossible, I’d say you looked preg,”
Before Bruce could finish his statement, Gavin snatched James’s knife away from him and threw it at the wall, getting everyone’s attention. Everyone’s eye grew wide as it embedded itself in the wall. “ENOUGH!” Gavin screeched. Everyone turned to face Gavin. “Vagabond, run back to your room. I will get your diet coke,” he instructed as he stood up. Ryan nodded and did as he was told. “And I believe everyone ELSE was negotiating territory. So, get back to it, yah.” Everyone nodded, nervously, “good.”
He grabbed the diet coke from the kitchen and walked back to Ryan’s room. Ryan was rubbing his stomach, “Ow,” he yelped quietly as the baby continued to kick his insides around.
“Love,” he cooed as he walked over to Ryan. “I brought your diet coke,” he said as he handed Ryan the can. Ryan tried to sit up enough that he could drink. He brought the can to his lips and took a few big gulps. The baby continued to move around and Ryan winced. “Still rambunctious?” he asked. Ryan nodded. Gavin quickly thought of an idea. “I have an idea of something else that might help. May I rub your tummy?” he asked.
“Baby, after a knife throw like that, you can do whatever the fuck you want to me,” Ryan answered in a raspy, attempted sexy, voice. Gavin began to rub Ryan’s stomach and the baby calmed down. “Ooh, yeah.”
Gavin raised an eyebrow as he rubbed Ryan’s stomach, “Ryan are you turned on?”
“Mm, yeah. To tired and fat to act on it. I missed the days when we fucked like savage animals.”
Gavin sighed, “I miss them too.”
“Can’t wait till I have a massive cock for you to bounce on,” Ryan lazily smirked.
“Ryan, you tease,” then, Gavin realized what Ryan had just said and he tilted his head in curiosity. “Wait, you’re still planning on that sex change?”
“Absolutely. This pregnancy is a onetime thing. If we actually want more kids after this one, I gonna have ta freeze my eggs,” he mumbled.
Gavin’s eyes grew wide. “Wait, you can do that!?”
“Yah, did… research…,” Ryan told him as he fell asleep.
Gavin continued to pet Ryan’s baby belly. The door to the room suddenly reopened. “Yo Gav, you coming back or,” Geoff started.
“SSSSSSSSSSSSSSHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!” Gavin shushed Geoff and motioned to a sleeping Ryan.
“So, I take that as a no, then?” Geoff asked more quietly this time.
Gavin scowled and grabbed the knife that was sitting on the nightstand next to the bed. He chucked it at the door and Geoff quickly dodged out of the way and slammed the door close. Ryan, who wasn’t completely asleep anymore, smirked. With a partner who was willing to protect him like that, he knew everything was going to be alright.
 34 WEEKS
Ryan was reaching the point where he tired of what pregnancy was doing to him. First of all, he was tired of being tired all the time. The odd cravings normally wouldn’t have bothered him, but he wasn’t looking forward to all of the excess weight he was going to need to lose.  He was huge because he was pregnant; his stomach protruded a good seven/seven-and-a half inches and could barely walk straight anymore. His bust had grown back to an A-cup and he absolutely hated it. He hated the constant reminder that he was biologically female and he thought he couldn’t wait for this kid to be out of him.
But, there were still a few things he was thankful for about his situation. He was thankful he had a wonderful crew to back him up. Michael was able to offer legitimate fatherly advice, helping his boi on his transition into fatherhood. Geoff wept tears of joy when they showed him ultrasound pic of the little one, saying how proud he was to be a grandfather, no matter how unofficial it was. He was thankful for Gavin, a loving boyfriend and amazing father to be. He waited on Ryan, hand and foot, and comforted Ryan in his hormonal, emotional needs. Not a day passed where Ryan wasn’t given a reason not to be madly in love with him. And as annoying as they were, Ryan was thankful for the child they were going to have. The constant activity was only proof the Ryan that the kid was clearly his and Gavin’s.
At the beginning of November, the crew planned to throw Ryan a baby shower. Gavin thought Ryan would hate the idea at first, but Ryan thought it would be a good excuse to introduce the crew to their child’s godmother. Geoff was slightly bitter about not being named the kid’s godfather, but he was willing to accept it.
The baby shower was being held at a safehouse in Morningwood. Ryan and Gavin were frosting the baby shower cake in the kitchen with Ryan sneaking little tastes of the frosting in between, Michael and Jeremy were tying balloons around the living room, Jack was setting up snacks on a table to the side, and Geoff was turning the cushioned chair in the living room into a thrown fit for a king who happened to be pregnant, complete with a ripped paper crown.
“Ooh,” Ryan whined in pain.
“Oh my gosh, what’s wrong?” Gavin quickly asked.
“Nothing, nothing,” Ryan quickly reassured, “Just a rather painful kick to the bladder. I’m gonna go to the bathroom,” he clarified.
“Need help?”
“I think I can still make it. I still have some use in me,” Ryan replied with a smile. He started to waddle away towards the bathroom.  Gavin smiled fondly as he finished icing the cake on his own.
Five minutes later, the doorbell rang. “Is that an intruder?” Geoff asked, panicked.
“No, no. it’s probably Meg,” Gavin announced as he rushed over to the front door. He checked the front window, then opened the front door with glee. “Meg!” he greeted, happily, as he went in for a hug.
“How are you, Gavy?” she asked as she hugged back.
“Top.”
“Is Ryan inside?”
“Yah. The sprog’s playing kickball with his bladder, again.”
“Daw.”
“Well, would you like to come in or,” Gavin was interrupted be the sounds of guns, cocking. He turned around to see everyone has their guns pointed at the front door. “Guys,” he whined in disappointment.
“Get out of the way, Gavin!” Geoff demanded in anger.
“What are you on about? Why do you have your guns out? Why do you even have them with you!? Ryan told you not to bring them!”
“Don’t you dare let that siren in here,” he instructed, ignoring Gavin.
“She’s not gonna do any harm, she’s just here for the baby shower.”
“Do you really expect us to believe that,” Jack questioned with a scowl on his face.
Meg shrugged, “well, they have me beat because I didn’t bring a gun,” she announced, sheepishly.
“Oh yeah, then what’s in the bag!?” Michael asked, furiously.
“A present… for Mini Meg…”
“Guys, what’s going on? I thought I heard guns cocking and,” Ryan started to ask as he left the bathroom. Then he noticed that everyone had their guns pointed at Gavin and Meg. “OH, COME THE FUCK ON!!! I TOLD YOU PEOPLE NO GUNS!!!!!!!” Ryan shouted angrily.
“But, she’s Dollface and your boyfriend has an apparent hard on for her,” Geoff argued back.
“No, I don’t!” Gavin squawked.
“I have a girlfriend,” Meg added.
“MEG TURNEY IS THE GODMOTHER OF MY CHILD!” Ryan screamed.
“YOU CHOSE A SIREN TO BE YOUR KID’S GODPARENT OVER ME!?” Geoff yelled back.
“THAT’S BECAUSE I’VE KNOWN HER LONGER THAN I’VE KNOWN ANY OF YOU!!!!!”
Gavin ran over to Ryan and started petting his head and rubbing his back. “Calm down, love. High heart rate’s not good for the baby.”
Ryan took a few deep breaths, “sorry, sorry, that was all unnecessary. Meg, please come in.”
“Whatever,” Geoff grumbled.
Meg happily skipped in the room and over to hug Ryan as best she could. “How are you, Rye?”
“Tired, fat, but pretty overall happy,” he answered with a smile.
Then, she placed he hands on both sides of Ryan’s belly, “and how’s Mini Meg?”
“Actually, the name Gavin and I decided on is,” Ryan lowered his voice to make sure only Meg could hear him, “Henry.”
“Henry!” Meg exclaimed. Everyone around the room looked at her in confusion.
Gavin frowned, “Ryan, we were gonna wait to reveal the name until after the ‘sex reveal cake’.”
Ryan shrugged, “sorry,” he apologized, sheepishly.
“You’re having a boy?” Jeremy asked.
“Yah. We were gonna wait until the cake to reveal all that. But after this whole ordeal, we could all use some sweets right about now,” Gavin joked.
The room lit up with laughter. In an instant, all unnecessary conflicts seemed to be forgotten. They could all get back to the fun baby show day they had planned. In that moment, it seemed like everything was going to be alright.
 39 WEEKS
They were in the home stretch. As excited for having a kid as he was, Ryan could not wait for the kid to be out of him. The pregnancy was becoming very annoying, at this point. His body had been tricking him with Braxton-Hicks contractions since he was seven months along. Of course, he had dealt with the pain of being shot on multiple occasions, so the false contractions were nothing more than an annoying inconvenience.
As time moved closer to his due date on December 18th, the baby shifted lower on his hips in preparation for birth.  His belly was already the size of a basketball, and this made walking steady even harder for Ryan. Gavin helped Ryan get from point A to point B when he’d let him. Ryan had nearly bit his head off though, when he suggested that Ryan be confined to bed-rest.
On December 11th, the crew had planned on going out for a heist. This heist would be Gavin’s first big heist as crew muscle. Of course, Ryan would be staying back at the penthouse helping with tech. That morning, Gavin helped Ryan to the kitchen. Jack and Jeremy were already sitting at the kitchen eating breakfast.
“Are you sure you want to help with this, today? Because you could go back to bed to rest and nobody would blame you or anythin’,” Gavin attempted to persuade Ryan as he led him to his chair.
“Gav, we got a week left before I’m truly out of commission,” Ryan argued.
“I could stay in,” he started.
“Sweetheart, this may or may not be your only chance at being real crew muscle. I want you to take it, show me how big and strong my boyfriend can be,” Ryan argued, further. Gavin just sighed in response.
Jeremy looked up from his food to see Gavin and Ryan. “Morning, Gav and Rye,” he greeted the two of them. “And you’re looking festively plump today, Ryan,” he joked.
“Jeremy!” Jack scolded as he swatted Jeremy’s arm.
“Ha, jokes on you,” Ryan retorted as he slowly sat down, “I won’t be like this anymore by the time Christmas rolls around.”
Gavin rolled his eyes at the exchange, he was still very excited about the fact that he would be a father soon. “Right, what do you want for breakfast then?” Gavin asked Ryan.
“I’m feeling like… cheesy scrambled eggs.”
Gavin quickly went to the fridge to grab the supplies he needed to make the dish. “Gavin, you can’t cook, you’re going to burn the kitchen down,” Jack pointed out.
“Learned,” Gavin quickly informed him as he cracked two eggs into a pan.
As the rest of the day went by, Ryan felt a contraction every few hours. He was too busy doing tech work on the crew’s heist at Pacific Standard Deposit Bank to notice that the time between each contraction growing shorter. He was directing the crew when another one, a strong one, hit. “You got the money,” he asked.
“Yeah,” Geoff confirmed.
“There’s an exit on the Alta street side that would be a good,” he stopped when the contraction hit and he whined, quietly.
Lindsay looked up when she heard Ryan’s whine, “you alright?” she asked.
“Yeah, strong Braxton-Hicks. Tell Axial to take tech lead for a bit, I’m gonna go splash some water on my face to get my head back in the game,” he replied as he used the table to push himself out of the chair. He waddled to the bathroom and turned on the sink. He splashed water on his face, “get it together, Haywood. You can do this,” he told himself He turned off the sink and started to back to the room went get noticed his pants were all wet from his crotch. He hadn’t thought he’d somehow spilled any water on his crotch, and it quickly dawned on him that he actually hadn’t spilled any sink water. “LINDSAY!!!” he screeched in hopes of getting her attention.
“What?” she asked as she ran in the bathroom. She looked Ryan up and down, and frowned, “did you really just call me in here to show me that you peed yourself when you were three feet away from the toilet?”
“Didn’t… pee myself,” he gritted out.
Lindsay’s eyes met Ryan’s, “Wait, did your water break?” Ryan gave a slight nod to answer her question. “Oh my god, your water broke. Holy shit, you’re going into labor!” Lindsay then ran back to the tech room. Ryan attempted to follow behind her, hoping to make use of the time between contractions. She got into the coms and tapped in so she would only be talking to Gavin. “Goldie, I need you to get out of there,” she informed him.
“Why? Everything’s going fine here,” Gavin asked over the com.
Ryan quickly yanked the com mic away from Lindsay. “YOU WERE RIGHT! YOU WERE ABSOLUTELY FUCKING RIGHT, YOU SHOULD HAVE STAYED HERE WITH ME! CAUSE I NEED YOU HERE WITH ME RIGHT NOW!!!!!!!!!!!” Ryan screeched.
“Rye,”
“HENRY’S COMING!!!!!!” he finished yelling as another contraction hit.
Gavin dropped everything that he was doing and ran out of the bank. “Where the hell do you think you’re going!?” Geoff yelled after him.
Michael had a feeling he knew why Gavin was running away. “Don’t get caught, Ryan needs you right now!”
Gavin drove back to the penthouse and ran in the front door. “Ryan, I’m here!” he called as he ran in.
Ryan waddled out, clutching his stomach, with Lindsay following behind. “How did you get here?” Ryan asked.
“Drove.”
Ryan groaned and squeezed his eyes shut. “Idiot,” he gritted out.
Gavin smiled, “but, I’m your idiot, love.” And Ryan smiled back sweetly, then, he groaned in pain as another contraction hit.
“Alright, I’ll drive you two to the hospital. Gavin, get changed out of your heist clothes while I get Ryan down to the car,” Lindsay instructed. Gavin quickly nodded and ran to his room.
Lindsay and Ryan got down to the car. Two minutes later, Gavin met them at the car in civilian clothes and they all drove to the hospital. Ryan and Gavin were admitted into a hospital room while Lindsay had to wait in the waiting room. Ryan wailed in pain all night long, yelling that that baby better take his uterus out with him. By the morning of December 12th, Henry Daniel Haywood-Free was born.
Ryan sat up, cradling his baby in his arms, while Gavin leaned up against the bed. Gavin gave his finger to the baby to grab onto and the baby latched onto it. “He’s gorgeous, a right handsome baby,” Gavin cooed.
“Yeah, he sure it,” Ryan agreed, lazily. “He got your nose,” he giggled.
Gavin shook his head and smiled, “sorry, Hen,” he apologized.
“Don’t be sorry. Your big ole’ nose is pretty cute, just like the rest of ya,” Ryan complimented as he began to shut his eyes.
“Daw,” Gavin smiled. “‘e prolly got your gorgeous eyes.”
“He’s… perfect,” Ryan said as he drifted to sleep. Gavin quickly picked up Henry and began to cradle him so Ryan could sleep.
His son yawned in his arms, he was going to be the perfect baby for him and Ryan. Sure, this kid was born into a life of crime, but none of that mattered. Their little family was now complete, and he knew for a fact that everything was going to be alright.
 15 Months Later
Henry’s first year of life was kinda interesting. Ryan had chosen to go by the name Papa for Henry, while Gavin chose to be called, Dada. He was just as rambunctious as he was when he was in the womb, and that caused a lot of trouble for his parents, but that were still happy that they had him. He had criminals coming from all over the city to care for him, but he was too young to know what being a criminal meant. His godmother would make the finest clothes for him, despite his Dada buying him all the posh baby clothes a baby could ever want. Little Sophie Jones was eager to play with him, even though she was a year and a half older than him. Michael and Gavin joked that it was the next generation of ‘Team Nice Dynamite.’ The world was a big, bright place for Henry.
Ten months after Henry was born, Ryan took Gavin out on a date to La Spada, a nice Italian seafood restaurant. In between dinner and dessert, Ryan got down on one knee and proposed to Gavin. Gavin ecstatically said yes and passionately kissed Ryan. After a hot and heavy, intimate night of more “dessert,” Ryan asked when they should have their wedding, and Gavin said he didn’t want the wedding until Ryan was done recovering from his sex change. Ryan said he hadn’t scheduled one yet, and Gavin handed him a pamphlet for a cosmetic clinic in Liberty City and a note for an appointment reminder. Gavin had found the best clinic for Ryan’s sex change and scheduled the surgery for him. Ryan couldn’t be more in love with Gavin after he did that for him.
Five months after that, Ryan, Gavin, and Henry few up to Liberty City. Ryan was taken into surgery, with Gavin and Henry waiting in the waiting room. After ten hours, Ryan was released from surgery. They went to go check on him and he was fast asleep. They retired to their hotel by the clinic for the night and went back to visit Ryan the next day. The nurses warned Gavin that Ryan may be high from the pain killers. Gavin took Henry up to Ryan room and they saw Ryan blinking, groggily.
“Hey, ya pretty cute,” Ryan complimented Gavin.
“Thank you, Rye,” Gavin smiled back. Henry cooed as if to compliment his Papa.
“Now that I have a dick, I’d fuck ya with it,” he slurred.
Gavin covered Henry’s ears. “Ryan, don’t use that type of language around the baby.”
“Sorry sweetheart, but right now, I’m hiiiiiiiiiigh as balls,” he giggled and reached his arm to point up.
Gavin quickly rushed over to push his arm back down. “No, no. You don’t wat to rip your IV out.”
Ryan’s eye’s drooped as he smiled, fondly. “An ya care ‘bout me too? Think I migh be in love wich ya.”
Gavin snorted. “I should hope so,” he replied with a smile.
“Buh cha can’t tell mah fiancé dat.”
“Ryan, I am your fiancé.
Ryan’s eyes widened in surprise, “Really?”
“Yah, and Henry, here, is your son.”
“He’s beautiful,” Ryan cooed, “An you’re drop dead gorgeous.”
Henry babbled happily, as if to thank his papa for the compliment. “Daw, thank you, Rye-bread,” Gavin thanked as well.
“Love it when ya… call me that…” Ryan mentioned as he fell back asleep.
Gavin and Ryan’s lives were in no way considered normal. They were a gay couple living in a big city. Ryan was an FTM transsexual who had inexplicably gotten knocked up. And on top of all that, they were members of one of the most dangerous criminal crews in Los Santos. Some might assume that life might be hard for the two of them, but for Gavin and Ryan, their life was more than alright. It was perfect.

You had left Seunghyun slack jawed and confused, excusing yourself from the table and powering down flight after flight of steps. By the time you reached the sixth floor you were lightheaded and emotional, attempting to guide yourself through a veil of tears. As you continued down, your mind and your heart screamed, completely in a battle with themselves. You wished you had never even signed up for this stupid show. You felt like you were being consumed by fire from the inside out. What a pretty disaster this had all become.
You could just barely see the exit, one more set of stairs between you and your escape. You rushed down the steps, not taking heed of your movements. You knew as soon as your foot had missed the stair that you were in for a rude awakening. Your stomach dropped and there was nothing you could do as you began to tumble downward, blacking out as soon as your body hit the floor.
You opened your eyes slowly and groaned from the pulsing white lights. Loud beeps and mechanical noises erupted around you. You blinked repeatedly, trying to process the situation. Your eyes shifted across the room, coming to terms with the fact that you were laying in a hospital bed, covered in wires and blankets. Your gaze staggered across the room, taking in things of importance, but halting once they met a hunched figure wearing a grim expression.
“It’s still my date you know."
You closed your eyes, exhaling a hiss through your teeth. "I can’t do this anymore, Seunghyun."
You looked up wearily to Sweaty and Armpit who has appeared as if they moved by magic. The little green light blinked on their recording devices, neither looking conflicted with their actions. You should’ve read that contract more closely.
Your face moved to analyze Seunghyun. He looked tired…and disappointed. You took a deep breath, trying to recall exactly what had happened, but only remembered a fuzzy picture. You remembered running from your commitments, running from him. You were lost and didn’t know how to find a way out. You were hardly concerned about your physical status, but more concerned about your mental state.
"You have to,” Seunghyun sighed after a moment of silence. “If not for yourself…than for us."
You tilted your head and furrowed your brows, causing an instant pain to radiate through your skull. You made a mental note to remain as still as possible as you looked at Top.
"You should get some rest,” he sighed. “The nurse said you’re fortunate to not have cracked your skull. You have a sprained wrist, some internal bruising that will heal with time. Your saving grace was that you passed out before you completely hit the floor. Apparently when your body is limp, you’re less likely to break bones because you aren’t trying to catch yourself."
Seunghyun stood, hovering near the door as he looked back at you. He gave a brief nod before clutching the handle.
"Seunghyun,” you whispered, trying to process the new information. You weren’t ready for him to leave just yet. “What do you mean…?"
”…none of your bones-“ he began slowly.
"No, no, I got that part,” you croaked. “But what do you mean by…doing it for “us”?”
Seunghyun chuckled bitterly, leaning against the door jam. “For such an intelligent girl, you can be such a fool."
"Ex-excuse me,” you whispered.
“You’ve seen the show, the guys-"
"We can’t discuss the other episodes,” you interrupted.
“I don’t give a damn about what a piece of paper tells me that I can and can’t discuss,” Seunghyun grumbled. “You’ve watched these episodes Y/N, you know these men are infatuated with you…myself included."
His words hit you like a swift smack to the face. In the weeks you had spent on My Idol, you had attempted to convince yourself that most of the men’s actions were for production, simply a way they acted before cameras. You had never really considered that they were developing feelings as deep for you as you had subconsciously been doing for them. You had gone back and forth on their individual merits, cataloging every memory they had given you in your mind.
You had thought about what would happen after the show, shrugging it off as a simple experience with a new array of celebrity friends. But this show…my idol…could really end with two people falling in love…and a public relationship with a musician. The simple thought of it made your blood run cold. You felt nauseous as you looked at Top’s handsome face.
"Seunghyun…” you trailed, trying to shake the tears from your eyes for a second time today.
“I’m anticipating the next episodes,” he nodded. He took a few quick steps, crossing the room and appearing at your bed side. He placed a gentle hand through your hair, allowing you to nuzzle his palm as his fingers grazed your cheek. “If you need anything, don’t hesitate to contact me."
"But I can’t-” you began.
“Do I have to repeat the whole disregarding a piece of paper speech again?” He chuckled. He patted your cheek gently and smiled.“Don’t give up on us just yet."
”Is she crazy? she’s dating idols?!”“Maybe that fall will knock some sense into her!”“Ungrateful brat”“She’s not even that cute”“#votemr.kimintothefinaldate”
You grumbled to yourself, slamming your laptop shut before sliding it to the opposite side of the couch.
"If it sounds so great maybe you’ll get selected for next season.” you spat to no one in particular. “Jerks."
You checked the clock on the wall, pulling yourself to your feet. You were already tired and the day hadn’t even begun yet. Admittedly you were emotionally exhausted on top of the visible bruising that had now appeared on various parts of your body. You adjusted the brace the doctors had wrapped around your wrist a week or so ago and sighed. Only two more dates, and then the midseason voting. You tried to keep your thoughts carefree, just as the newly appointed My Idol counselor had suggested, but it was admittedly tough. The incident on last week’s episode had made it’s way across the cover of every tabloid and you were nervous that it would effect the next idol you would meet.
You tried to put on your bravest persona to conquer the day. Going from a nameless face in the bustling crowds of Seoul to a character on a reality television series was not for the faint of heart. You were constantly left questioning yourself and the whole process. You were scared. Not just of the notoriety and fame…but of falling in love.
And not having that love reciprocated.
This was a new fear that you hadn’t prepared yourself for initially. It had never really even begun to cross your mind until you had had the conversation with Seunghyun as he stood in the door of your hospital room. The whole situation felt surreal now as you looked back, but the feeling was eerily permanent.
You gathered your things, checking the time again as you made your way to the door. You were to meet your date at the cinema at three o clock.
Or at least that’s what you had thought.
You pulled on the handle of your front door and dodged, just as a strong hand nearly punched you in the face.
“Holy shit!” he gasped, springing backwards and covering his hands with his mouth. “Sorry! For the language…but more importantly almost hitting you. I was mid knock, and couldn’t stop the muscle memory, and I had to connect with the door, but I almost connected with your face instead. Did I mention I’m Sehun? Because I’m Sehun. Oh Sehun from EXO. I assume you’re familiar with EXO?”
You chuckled, nodded, and tilted your head as you looked up at the handsome man before you. Initially meeting your date was one of your favorite parts of My Idol. It was refreshing to see their different personalities and the relationships you would form. You remained cautious with Sehun though, especially after your mild emotional breakdown.
“Uh…” he trailed, scratching the back of his neck. His nervous energy radiated from his body and you couldn’t help but smile sadly to yourself. “Should I like…shake your hand…or?”
“We can bow,” you chuckled, giving him a small nod. “I’m Y/N.”
“I know,” he nodded with a smirk. “Oh!” HIs eyebrows shot up as he began digging through his pockets, smiling as he finally found what he was looking for. “I know like…every guy so far has gotten you flowers, so I thought you had more than enough of those, so I thought I’d give you this!”
You took the small paper gingerly from his hands and bit your lip. “Uh…Sehun, this is your photo card…”
“It’s collectable,” he nodded proudly, sticking his hands deep in his pockets as he began to rock back and forth on his heels.
“Right,” you nodded, trying to stifle a laugh. “Thank you?”
“Oh, it was no problem,” he smiled. “Just a little something to remember me by.”
“How could I forget,” you whispered, sticking the card into your bag. “Shall we?”
Sehun placed his hand awkwardly on your lower back as he ushered you through the door and into the cinema lobby. You looked up, making brief eye contact before he looked away, his cheeks a bright crimson. For someone so confident on stage, you were surprised by how shy he was.
“I picked a scary movie,” he nodded, biting his lip as he searched your face for any sort of reaction. “I’m not necessarily good with jump scares, but my arms are open if you need protection.”
“Is that right?” you croaked, thrown off by his greasy comment. It made you grin that he was beginning to loosen up and actually start flirting with you.
“Nope, I’m just saying that to lure you into a false sense of security,” he laughed. “So when the monsters attack, you have no one to run to.”
Your eyes grew wide, nearly falling over at Sehun’s abrupt use of sarcasm. You had heard that he was sassy, but hadn’t expected for the mood to shift so quickly. On the way to the movie theatre, he was a nervous mess, stumbling over his words as he tried to provide a comeback for nearly every tease you threw at him. He seemed to have reached his own element now, completely at ease with you after only a train ride.
“Well now I’m disappointed,” you nodded, regaining your wits quickly. Sehun was sharp, so you had to focus to be able to keep up. “What a pretty face to run to.”
“Glad you’ve noticed,” he grinned. “But my face looks like a Picasso painting when compared to yours.”
You looked down, smiling at the floor. Sehun’s compliment had caught you nearly as off guard as his sarcasm had. Maybe this date was what you needed to reassure yourself that you belonged on this show.
“I’m going to grab a popcorn and soda…two straws?” Sehun asked, tilting his head. He wiggled his eyebrows. “Or shall we share one?”
“How scandalous,” you chuckled. “Two straws is fine.”
Sehun nodded before turning on his heel and walking toward the concessions stand. You spun as well, hugging your arms, and smiling to yourself. You bit your lip as you looked around, silently pleased with how the date was shaping up.
The emotion was short lived though as you furrowed your brows, noticing what seemed to be a familiar frame by a standee near the door of the lobby. He was half hidden behind a large cardboard cutout, advertising a new children’s movie to be in theaters this fall. You squinted, taking in the figure who wore a baseball cap and a black mask tight around his mouth. The face behind the mask looked at you with wide eyes, before shoving sunglasses onto his face, and spinning around. You stomped the few feet over to the man, dressed completely in black, and tapped on his shoulder.
“Jay,” you hissed. “What in the hell do you think you’re doing?”

Food Poisoning is NOT Romantic on Valentine’s Day
Love was in the air here at our house on Valentine’s Day, and we had celebrated literally all day. I felt like such a Pinterest Mom. You know the ones that cut the sandwiches into shapes, make homemade cake, arts and crafts with the kids, movies, etc. I had no idea that upon putting our boys to bed that I would encounter something that I at first had no idea what was happening, but soon learned exactly what was going on. Here is the story of my Valentine’s Day food poisoning fiasco.
We completed dinner with some cookies and chocolate covered strawberries. I thought this was the absolute perfect ending to our day of love. I even got flowers from my boys both big and little!
The kids bedtime is usually a strict 7:30, but on Valentine’s Day we stretched it to 8. The oldest had a fever and a slight cold, so he was taking some Ibuprofen and doing steamy showers as usual when he is congested. I sat up and chatted with my husband, we talked about our day as usual and I opened up my computer to get some work done. Shortly after I find myself taking care of our oldest because he just couldn’t breathe and wanted extra cuddles.
11 PM is when “IT” happened. By “it” I mean a wave of dizziness struck me as if I was almost car sick without being in a car. This immediately followed with waves of nausea worse than any I had since needing to have my gallbladder removed.
Several ideas came into my mind; the first being the flu. Our area has been wrecked with flu and other gastro illnesses including the dreaded norovirus. I didn’t think much beyond these ideas at first because we had been in public places and obviously germs are everywhere this time of year.
By 1 AM, I was not wanting to leave the bathroom for very long. Around 2, the oldest finally drifted off to sleep, but there was no sleep in my future. I saw every hour of the night on the clock and at one point I was so nauseous and sweaty that I actually went outside and sat on our porch for a bit. Anyone who knows Virginia in February you know how chilly it is. I was just that hot.
By sunrise I had experienced every possible symptom of a stomach virus that I could possibly name and without going into a lot of details I felt like I was going to have to somehow contact an underground toilet paper dealer and barter for more.
When time came for my husband to go into work he tried to get the day off but alas duty called, and he had to go into work. I contacted LiveHealthOnline.com who was a blessing in disguise. While I do not recommend this for anything serious, I needed relief from the severe nausea that I was still dealing with and the fact that I was so dizzy that I felt I could barely stand up straight. 24 hour medical care is something that a lot of people are not used to unless you are heading to an emergency room, so this was a plus for me as I could see someone when I needed several hours before our doctor’s office opened.
I was happy to speak with a nice doctor who started to ask questions about things I had eaten and then a lightbulb moment clicked for me. I realized that I had in fact eaten those chocolate covered strawberries and maybe something was seriously wrong. That was the only different thing that had been eaten by me and no one else in the house. Honestly, I panicked but was relieved that this was not something that I could pass on to my boys like the flu or norovirus.
A call in for some Zofran, not much sleep until that evening and some very bland foods for several days I found myself still feeling very tired, but I survived. Other people who purchased local strawberries found that they were “rotten” and more soggy than normal.
I didn’t find my berries to be out of the ordinary but obviously something was up, and I can’t say that I want to have anymore berries anytime soon.
Food Poisoning Facts:
According to Mayo Clinic Contamination of food can happen at any point of production: growing, harvesting, processing, storing, shipping or preparing. Cross-contamination — the transfer of harmful organisms from one surface to another — is often the cause. This is especially troublesome for raw, ready-to-eat foods, such as salads or other produce. Because these foods aren’t cooked, harmful organisms aren’t destroyed before eating and can cause food poisoning.
Many bacterial, viral or parasitic agents cause food poisoning. The following table shows some of the possible contaminants, when you might start to feel symptoms and common ways the organism is spread.
Food poisoning symptoms vary with the source of contamination. Most types of food poisoning cause one or more of the following signs and symptoms:
Nausea
Vomiting
Watery or bloody diarrhea
Abdominal pain and cramps
Fever
Signs and symptoms may start within hours after eating the contaminated food, or they may begin days or even weeks later. Sickness caused by food poisoning generally lasts from a few hours to several days.
When to see a doctor
If you experience any of the following signs or symptoms, seek medical attention.
Frequent episodes of vomiting and inability to keep liquids down
Bloody vomit or stools
Diarrhea for more than three days
Extreme pain or severe abdominal cramping
An oral temperature higher than 100.4 F (38 C)
Signs or symptoms of dehydration — excessive thirst, dry mouth, little or no urination, severe weakness, dizziness, or lightheadedness
Neurological symptoms such as blurry vision, muscle weakness and tingling in the arms
Risk Factors
Whether you become ill after eating contaminated food depends on the organism, the amount of exposure, your age and your health. High-risk groups include:
Older adults. As you get older, your immune system may not respond as quickly and as effectively to infectious organisms as when you were younger.
Pregnant women. During pregnancy, changes in metabolism and circulation may increase the risk of food poisoning. Your reaction may be more severe during pregnancy. Rarely, your baby may get sick, too.
Infants and young children. Their immune systems haven’t fully developed.
People with chronic disease. Having a chronic condition — such as diabetes, liver disease or AIDS — or receiving chemotherapy or radiation therapy for cancer reduces your immune response.
As for me, I am doing much better now, just a few pounds lighter.

A Light in the Dark // self-para
Silence, nothing but a deafening silence and the putrid stench of human misery. Most who were brought to the dungeons, betrayers of the crown and the worst of the worst, lived lifetimes in the poorest of conditions and died here without anyone giving a care in the world. No windows to allow even the slimmest of light in, cold drafts to chill one to the bone, cruel guards...this was no place for a Queen.
Amelia spent the time ever since she was locked away huddled in one of the cell’s corners with nothing to occupy herself but her thoughts, sleeping the first few nights in her ruined wedding gown, which only served as a reminder of what she did, before being given a shapeless chemise dress that was closer to a sack than proper clothing. His blood, coating her hands, his blood, coating the dagger’s blade. She replayed the night that was meant to be their first as a married couple but had been warped into an assassination. Why? That is the question she couldn’t stop asking herself. Why did she do it? Why did she draw a weapon against her husband and commit the most heinous of acts? Mia remembered, in that moment, feeling as if she no longer had control over her own body. That she was watching someone else holding that knife. And Sebastian, her Sebastian. The weight of the world crushed her chest with a loss not felt since she lost her parents when she woke up with his name leaving her lips. Amelia’s heart was ripped out every time she thought of him, not knowing whether he survived or otherwise, but never giving herself the glimmer of hope when she knew he had to be dead. There was no use when she saw how many stabs were administered. That was it...he was gone.
Amelia had been nauseous for a time, but the illness continued even after being placed within the prison so it wasn’t chalked up to simply wedding nerves. Depending on who was asked, that was either due to Sebastian’s demise or guilt for the crime. It mattered little what others thought anyway considered they suspected her of treason. Still, the court physician’s presence was requested to ensure she did not perish from what it is that ailed the werewolf before a trial was certain to be set. This doctor, an older gentleman with peppering gray hair and a caring disposition, found Mia sitting on the poor excuse for a dingy mattress when he gingerly opened the cell’s door with a loud creak. The sound immediately sent the blonde’s head snapping in that direction, making her flinch. “Who are you?”
The man mustered a small smile, quickly closing the gated barrier and stepping further into the room with caution. “You have nothing to fear from me, Your Highness. My name is Nathaniel.” Mia weakly scoffed at the statements, “I hardly believe titles are warranted any longer. I may be a princess still, but I am far from your queen. Amelia.” Nathaniel nodded once respectively. “I am a doctor, Amelia, I do not see titles. I only see patients in need of care when required and I have heard it is so in your case.” Walking over to the only piece of furniture prisoners were permitted, a small table, he placed the bag carrying the medical necessities on the flat surface. “The guards tell me you have not been able to keep your breakfast down, yes? And no other symptoms?”
Mia shifted uncomfortably where she sat, casting a small glance in the direction of the chamber pot used for such matters and shivered. This wasn’t the type of conversation a royal typically has, but the man was the first contact she had in what seemed like weeks. “That’s correct.” Nathan paused to give it a thought as he pulled various items from the bag. “How often is it happening? At every meal, once in a while, or in the evening?” He questioned, giving Mia enough time to respond, “That is what I find so peculiar, to be honest. It isn’t occurring at any time of day or meal other than during breakfast and that is if I manage to have an appetite. It’s only the morning when I awake.”
Nathan perked up and slightly turned around to face the woman, “Just the morning?” Something told him the King and Amelia could not wait until their wedding night to consummate the marriage, not that it was his business to pry on that notion. That is, if what he believed ailed Mia was not an infection at all but something...greater. “As a physician, I would like to perform a simple experiment.” Mia shot him a quick look of doubt while Nate busied himself making the appropriate concoction used to indicate what he suspected. “It won’t be painful, I promise. It’ll actually take only about thirty seconds.” Placing the finished product in a glass vial, he stepped forward and held it out. “Here, drink just a smidge and I want you to tell me what you taste.”
Taking the vial hesitantly, Mia carefully inspected the yellow-tinted liquid and after being given a nod of encouragement from the man, she took a small sip. The flavor on her tongue was oddly familiar. She took yet another sip and another before a memory stirred. “It tastes like...honey. Very sweet honey.” It reminded her of her mother. “What does this have to do with me growing sick?” As Nathaniel watched her taste test with anticipation, he slowly leaned back in realization for its meaning. “That potion does not have a flavor. To place in the best of terms, it is only detected by a certain type of someone.” The man fully explained as the girl only gave him a perplexed stare. “You do not have an illness, my dear. It isn’t a disease or a bug you have caught from here or anywhere else for that matter.” He sighed softly, “You are pregnant, Amelia.”
There was nothing Mia heard but the pounding in her head growing louder by the minute, deafening anything the doctor may have been saying. Pregnant. Pregnant. What was meant to cause celebration only filled her with dread and more agony. “No.” The single word came out in a barely audible whisper as the blonde used the wall to support herself while she rose to her feet on unsteady legs. “No, that cannot be possible. Listen, I appreciate the kindness you have shown me thus far, but that test you did...it’s wrong.” The man shook his head, “With all due respect, the potion is never wrong. The morning nausea fits, the timeline fits, it is the one explanation plausible. I know it regards the circumstances, but I do not understand why a child is a bad thing.”
“Why? Why!?” Amelia took a few steps forward, anger flaring for the first time and overtaking any sorrow she once felt previously. “Let me tell you the story of a girl who was forced into an arranged marriage by a father later murdered by the darkest of Faes only to discover she felt a love far greater than anything she has experienced for her betrothed. She cherished this man, coveted him as the one person keeping her afloat after the loss of her parents. A girl who, despite how much she adored her husband, chose to stab him again and again and again without knowing the reason behind what she did. I have harmed the only man I knew who could’ve handled my faults through thick and thin. I have been thrown in the darkest of prisons, my dear sweet baby sister who has already gone into the fire, might I add, thrown in a cell for simply being in this castle. There is a kingdom who now sides against me and you have the audacity to ask me why having this child is considered bad.” And then suddenly, the rage desisted while an unbearable exhaustion took its place. Oh, how tired Mia became. “You come in here treating me with respect when I have deserved none, knowing full well why these four walls are my new home, and you cannot tell me you don’t believe I did it when everyone else does.”
Nathaniel stood listening to the werewolf’s rant, hyper aware from experience that she needed to release this or it would fester. “I am able to see within a person’s heart and know what true malice looks like. Do you know what I see when I look into yours, Mia? I see a devastated young woman crumbled by actions she does not understand. I see a woman trying to be strong for the sakes of a twin brother willing to fight for his family’s freedom and a younger sister equally as confused by recent events. You feel as though you have nothing, Amelia. Nothing to hold onto, nothing to live for, when that is the complete opposite.” At least he possessed the comfort in knowing Mia knew her husband was still fighting for his life when the truth was no one told the Princess. “My word does not count for very far and I certainly cannot convince plugged ears, but I do not believe you did it.”
Mia’s hand instinctively dropped to her stomach as she processed the doctor’s advice. She did not have enough strength to keep herself from curling into a ball and crying, yet, even in the darkest of times, she was not alone. Andrew would fight, Emlyn would fight, she sure as hell would fight, and wouldn’t stop giving it her all for Winnie as well. She was Princess Amelia of the Werewolves, Daughter of Theodore and Annabeth, Queen of the Mer-Folk, and she will survive this. “I don’t know how to thank you. There are simply no words I can-”
A guard suddenly none so gently smacked against the bars, causing the blonde to jump and the doctor to release an agitated sigh as the younger man grumbled, “Time’s running out, old man. I have to escort you out.” Nathaniel held up a hand and turned to face the werewolf. “You can repay me simply by remembering everything I have said. You are not alone, my dear. Take it to heart, let it guide you.” He took the time to gather his instruments, “This is not the end.” With one last word, he disappeared through the cell door.
Amelia stared in the empty space that once contained the doctor and now left her feeling the desolate atmosphere close around her again, although it was not as tightly before Nathaniel’s visit. In a place of desolation and heartbreak, his light sparked a flame within her she once thought long extinguished. That man, perhaps, gave her the greatest and most powerful gift anyone could receive in Mia’s shoes: Hope.

may: week one
01: it was an interesting morning. i worked out in the yoga studio today because hillary and daniel were sleeping in the living area. i finished my hip hop cardio and when i started my hiit workout, a lady came in to spin and she just watched me suffer LOL. i made it though! then i showered and started my work day. i just needed to mentally prepare myself and write some notes to prepare myself for my customer call. phil was not going to be on it so i was pretty much solo. i think i did alright though. hillary and daniel packed and left before my call and then later, hillary told me that they missed their flight because spirit moved up the flight time and they had to catch tomorrow’s -__-” wtf spirit? i started doing laundry so it’s a good thing i didn’t wash their towels yet! i did start washing the bedsheets and pillowcases though. meh. haha. i think they can sleep with the sofa pillows and without the sheet for one night, right? x__x;
my day was very chill and when they came back, daniel and hillary took my car to fat cat and i got on my standup. they left me some cajun fries, which were sooo delicious. i snacked and talked to hillary while daniel fell asleep on the couch. hillary eventually fell asleep and then i went back to work. kevin came back and then we talked a bit before daniel and hillary woke up. daniel took like a 3 hour nap. damn. bae and i went to the yoga studio and she did cardio kickboxing with me. right after the workout, she downed a ton of water O_O” haha. kevin was cooking oyakodon at this time while daniel was watching dota streams in the apartment. we came back, ate, chatted, and then hillary and daniel did dishes while me and kevin went back on our computers. he gamed and i did a bit of work before showering, making the bed together, and me sleeping at around 11 pm. zzzzz. it was a nice chill day with the bae and phanpy :)))
02: i took it “easy” and did very little jumping during my morning exercise. then i washed up, ate breakfast, and said good bye to hillary and daniel! :) they were awake but still a little sleepy haha. i sat at john’s desk for the morning and was anxious to see when he would come in and felt a tad bit bad that he had to sit at my desk for a bit. i happened to be in a call when he came in and needed to talk to steve. x__X; we went to tenoch and i got a pollo torta. it was better than last time so i think tenoch is a bit better than i had initially thought. steve and haowei really liked it. i was very productive today and cole helped me set up actions in photoshop to fix something very tedious that i had to do. it was luls seeing him use photoshop though. i finished all of my work at around 4:40 pm and then took it easy until 5 pm. i walked to cvs with cole on the way to south station and i introduced him to all-dressed ruffles! apparently, they are a flavor in the east coast that’s here to stay ahha. he really liked them. boo yah!
i took the train home and then ate fruit and decided to gorge myself on snyder’s honey mustard pretzel pieces T_T it was a terrible choice because i ended up with a stomach ache and it was a bit harder to do my ab workout. i showered and then i made dinner. kevin came back, i played some bravely default and finished the episode of reign i watched while daniel and hillary were here, he cooked some veggies, and then we ate dinner without watching tv. it’s been an eventful weekend and start of the week so we needed to reset a bit. it was a fun weekend though with bae and phanpy <3 kevin gamed and i went to sleep at around 11:30 pm. i wasn’t sure if i was going to work from home -- my heart rate has increased these past few days so i might be a bit sick or getting sick? or maybe i’m stressed? i think the true cause is that i’ve been working out a bit too much with not enough rest. so it’s a toss up of whether or not i’m gonna feel up to it in the morning.
03: it was such a nice morning T_T the weather seemed great outside but my body was super sore and my stomach was not feeling too hot. i decided to work from home. i also skipped on my morning workout because everything was sore basically. i’m taking it sort of easy today in terms of working out. i started my morning by watching the latest episode of jane the virgin and then woke up kevin. then he left for work and i did some work~ i spent the day moving around and splitting my 30 minute workout that i was supposed to have in the morning, into 15 minute sessions. it was a pretty chill day again because i’m kind of in between projects but a lot of new things are gonna happen for me in design mainly so i’m excited about that. i did a 25 minute dance routine to keep my exercise pretty light today and then showered and made rice and defrosted shrimp. when kevin came back from work, we went outside to chill in the courtyard. i played bravely default and he read a book on his kindle. it got chilly so we went back inside after finishing the grapes we brought out with us.
then we chilled some more and kevin started cooking. i grinded so hard today. i’m now level 84 and i bought the golden egg and golden whatever it was so i get more job points and exp. we ate dinner while watching some gordon ramsey videos and then we basically wrestled for a bit because he said i made too little rice and was complaining about it and i said he eats too much and then he said i was trying to starve him LOLOL. i got real worked up and then calmed down, gamed, got ready for bed, and went to sleep at around 11 pm. zzzz.
04: i woke up pretty tired today but i did my workout and i wasn’t exhausted from it like i usually am? woot for progress! the video that i followed was one of the ones i had to pause at 3 sets and then continue with the last one, but now i can do it all in one go! after that, i showered, ate cereal and toast and then went on my way to work. i felt pretty dead though so i don’t know if it’s still because i’m not resting? or if it’s something else??? i haven’t been sleeping well again... even though i’m sleeping earlier, waking up earlier, exercising earlier, etc. @_@; it might be kevin’s gaming that’s disturbing my sleep now or maybe i should stop going on my phone right before bed...ahhh, i don’t know -- i’ll test it out. sigh. i thought this was going to be better; i mean, it is in a way but i want this to help balance my life out.
the day was pretty busy and i got a headache because of the new project i’m working on. i forgot how tedious it is to sort through a bunch of unorganized data... well, kind of organized but not organized on a super clean level. i had a bunch of mini chats with mathew about both of our projects -- we helped each other out. i took a walk after eating lunch and then went back to work. cole had to vent a bit so when he was done with his last meeting of the day, we headed to starbucks and he vented and got a venti chai, which he demolished even before we got back to the office o_o he also kindly got me the honey chocolate that’s in starbucks right now. i’m so glad i have a friend like cole :D we finished up the bit of work we had and then headed to south station and took our trains home. i snacked a bit and then did my workout. i also prepped ingredients for dinner and then kevin messaged me saying that he didn’t know his belay class would be so long. so he got back late and i just ate bread for “dinner.” i ended up eating the stir fried noodles anyway but not as late because i wanted to see if that was bothering my sleep. i slept at around 12 am because i was going to wfh tomorrow and i just gamed before sleeping.
05: i was very all over the place today. i managed to do my hiit workout in the morning and then work on my new project the entire day. i took a lot of breaks though to move around, game, and also read! i got my botm in the mail and just started reading it like crazy. now i have a game and a book to read :) my stomach was also just all over the place because i kept feeling nauseous and then gassy and then hungry and the cycle kept repeating. merp i don’t know what’s wrong?! i need to get more fruit for the upcoming week though haha. kevin got back home and we just cuddled and rested after a long week of work. then i did a new 30 minute work out and found out during the workout that one move just hurts my hip like crazy. i don’t know if i like this new video. then i showered while kevin cooked and we had a pretty late dinner while watching supernatural. the characters in supernatural are pissing me off now. @_@; we did a good amount of reading and then gamed for the rest of the night.
06: we got out of bed around 11 am and then i went straight to kickboxing. i was sore from yesterday so i didn’t do my best at it but still got it done ;) then we ate breakfast and chilled for a bit until it was time to get our massages! i got a great deep tissue massage focusing on my legs and then a bit on my back. then we went into the steam room for the first time to try it out! it was basically a shower room with a steam system built in and it was super foggy when we got in. o__o; the temperature rose from 80 to 105 before we rq’d. after getting out of there, we felt so relaxed and refreshed though. we also showered because we thought it would be a bit gross to steam and then leave rather than utilize the shower there too haha. we got boba from oh my tea after; i got the jujube tea and kevin got the mango smoothie! the mango smoothie was the best mango smoothie we’ve ever had... so good. we came back home and chilled. i gamed for a bit; i’m finally getting the vampire asterisk! then i finished reading my book of the month, ‘since we fell’ (it was aiight), and then we took the ‘t’ to back bay to meet up with jenny and her friends.
i met jenny’s friends: effie and monica, and kevin and jenny’s mutual friend from northwestern, derrick. we had to wait 45 minutes get seats at a restaurant called, ‘the salty pig’ so we just talked inside a mall. the service at the restaurant was below average and the wait for the food was too long and not worth it. the food portions were TINY as well. i was excited for their gnocchi but it was super mushy and too sweet. we won’t be coming back here. after dinner, we walked over to ‘the beehive’, a jazz bar/restaurant. there were no available seats and everyone was pretty tired. we did stay there until 12 am though and near the end, we managed to get seats. kevin got poutine and ate at the bar counter while standing lulz. we just talked and then we walked effie and jenny back to effie’s apartment and then derrick went the opposite way to get his bike, and kevin and i took the ‘t’ back home. i drank a pimm’s cup at dinner and by the time we got home, my stomach hurt (it could have also been some of the cheese i ate) and i had a pinching headache. kevin started meal planning with me and i just had to ko on the bed after using the bathroom x_x; i woke up at 2 am, brushed my teeth, and went back to sleep. kevin was finishing up a game and went to sleep at around that time as well.
07: i woke up feeling a lot better! my back was sore from the massage but that means she worked her magic on it. we got out of bed at 10 am. i went to shower, kevin ate breakfast, i ate cereal, started reading ‘ready player one’ while kevin used the washroom, and then we headed to kam man, lucky fortune, and bj’s. apparently, all the produce was fresher this time (maybe because we went there early). then we went to get asian buns from the bakery at lucky fortune as well as some red plums. we stopped by bj’s to get english muffins and then unpacked everything, filled water bottles, and headed out. we stopped by a mcdonald’s because we were craving it. i got 4-pc chicken mcnuggets and an order of small fries and kevin got a mcdouble and mcchicken. both were mcpick 2′s so everything was just $5. <3333 we ate as kevin drove to the hammond pond reservation to meet up with matt and megan (sp?). the boys were outdoor climbing today and we came along to watch, enjoy nature, and take pictures of them ;P
megan used her cool lens attachments for her iphone to take pictures and they were so high quality! it got super chilly but i took a short walk around the place. the reservation is right next to a large movie theater and strip mall so the views weren’t all that great / no hiking trails were defined. i had to pee when we got there but kevin and i got there late so we felt bad for making them wait T_T nearing the end of the climb, i could not hold it in any longer. walking to the car made me want to pee my pants and i felt like i had super bad cramps. kevin rushed to say goodbye to them and then hurriedly drove me over to the strip mall and went outside to ask if there were restrooms i could use. we stopped at a cupcake shop and when i went in, the cashier said someone was in there -__-” then kevin went to the place next door and luckily, no one was in there and i got to finally pee. tmi, but i literally had so much pee, i had to like push it all out @_@ LOL anyway, kevin used the restroom as well and then we drove back home. kevin went to shower and i just chilled, snacked on some snyder’s, and continued reading ‘ready player one.’ then i did laundry and continued reading the book and playing games. the book is really interesting to me so far. it’s very sao-eqsue and log horizon-esque... oh and dot hack-esque ahah.
kevin cooked and i was about to clean the bathroom, but i was talking to winston about staying over at his place when we head to new york for my birthday. winston initiated a video chat with us so we got to catch up :) kevin was still cooking but it was nice to hear from winston <3 we talked while we ate dinner and then winston went back to reading and doing his thang. kevin washed dishes and i folded clothes and then we booked our amtrak tickets (omg thank you, effie for all the tips and tricks for going to ny for cheap!!!) and then i started looking for a hotel (we decided with winston’s encouragement to get a hotel instead) and then i got tired and i went to bed at around 12 am.
