Idia Shroud headcanons (he's just like me fr)
- he is autistic.
- deep pressure on his body helps him get grounded after stress/a meltdown
- Ortho tried to help once after a particularly stressful day at NRC but having metal laying on you doesn't help at all so Idia ended up getting some weighted blankets (extras for backup, you never know !)
- has a sheep plush he holds for comfort, it works well for when he's feeling antsy or anxious
- deathly afraid of getting the plush dirty or damaged so he usually just lets it stay on his bed, though he'd like to bring it along to places
- absolutely despises skin-tight clothing IT IS A SENSORY NIGHTMARE !!!!
- mostly unaware of the facial expressions he makes and his hands' whereabouts when he's not gaming
- completely understands emotions in theory, not so much in practice
- habitually lies about small things that don't matter, really
(like this ⤵️)
Ortho: hey where did you put the red pen you used yesterday ?
Idia: top left drawer under the desk
Ortho: it's not here
Idia: i lied it's in the bottom left one
(Ortho doesn't mind)
- doesn't like white chocolate because "it feels and tastes weird"
- when he goes to sleep he covers himself as much as he can with the covers
- gets sleepy during warmer (than average) weather very quickly
- auditory hallucinations of notification pings are common
- he does NOT understand the signs of his body needing to drink unless he's done something like.. actively participate in p.e, so he's often stuck with headaches due to the lack of hydration
- used to the headaches by now, though
- likes dating sim games a LOT despite the fact that he cannot differentiate platonic and romantic attraction
- (they are the same thing to him, basically)
- has very little to no issue with understanding accents, but won't be able to tell where someone is from based on their accent
- loves vocaloid (Ortho does as well)
- has made some covers to songs with voicebanks he bought
- has tried to get Azul into vocaloid, it didn't go the exact way Idia wanted it to go but at least Azul thought some songs were nice
- draws sometimes !! it's mostly doodles or concept designs though
- has tried making his own games before but ended up losing motivation for them before they were even remotely close to resembling a game
- Ortho doesn't drain his social battery at all
- spite is one of the few things that never fail to motivate him
ok that's all i have for now
ty for reading :3

“I LAUGHED AT THE WRONG TIME - SAT WITH THE WRONG GUY - SEARCHIN' "HOW TO START A CONVERSATION?" ON A WEBSITE”
Introducing...
Full Name: Roxana Mage Diaz Professionally/Universally Known: Roxie Gender & Preferred Pronouns: Cis Woman & She/Her Age: 21 Birthdate: February 14, 2003 Zodiac: Aquarius ☉, Pisces ☽, Leo ↑ Sexuality: Bisexual Faceclaim: Olivia Rodrigo Occupation: Singer/Songwriter/Actress Hometown: Philadelphia, PA. Playlist: HERE. Funfact(s): Can say the alphabet backwards. Can do a killer Blue's Clues impression.
UP NEXT: “BALLAD OF A HOMESCHOOLED GIRL” BY OLIVIA RODRIGO ROXIE DIAZ
Biography:
TW: dysfunctional family
Roxana was born and raised in a middle class home on the outskirts of Philadelphia. With a mother who worked as an online assistant and a father who was a marriage and family therapist, there was never a lack of attention for any of the Diaz kids. If anything, their family dynamics were uberly healthy. So healthy, that it posed as an annoyance to Roxie who felt that dilemmas were pushed aside rather than addressed head-on and fixed. This feeling and viewpoint hadn't come around until her teen years, though whenever she attempted to bring it up - it was swept under the rug. Though there were these vastly differentiating views within the household, it didn't lead to any outward rebellion from Roxana. She loved her parents, even if their marriage that once was viewed so perfect was slowly coming undone in front of Roxie's eyes. Seeing that she was homeschooled, Roxana didn't really spend much time with other kids other than her siblings. This didn't necessarily upset her, seeing that it helped her mother out in the long run with all these kids running amuck in the house. Though chaos was the norm due to the amount of people in such a small space, Roxana always found herself clinging to her laptop and watching musicals as a way to disconnect from the hectic day-to-day of the Diaz household. Her favorite accessory her earbuds that she sported in order to drown out everything around her and escape. Roxana messing with Garage Band on her apps was one thing, but when she posted her silly little teenage angst songs on Tumblr, she wasn't expecting a following. Though she only has two albums out at this point (Olivia Rodrigo's discography), Roxie has around 3.2 million listeners on Spotify and has a cult following. She hadn't even attempted to move to LA, hunkering down near the outskirts as a way of defiance and to drive a wedge between her and the limelight that seems to be slowly creeping up on her. Barely even having a taste of it, Roxie is torn; the pressure is already enough to make her shut down completely, but she can't shake this feeling that she was born to pour her heart out into a mic.
Proceed With Caution:
Roxana is her father's daughter, if she likes it or not. Always overstepping when it comes to helping others and their problems a complete parallel to how her father reacts to her mom. Roxie is a romantic and tends to fall in love at the drop of a hat. Very water sign of her, but she romanticizes people and when they show their faults, she scrambles to fix them and that's when shit hits the fan. To this day, she knows she hasn't truly been in love, but she yearns for that fairytale type of romance; even if that expectation is only setting her up for failure. Roxana loves Y2K fashion as well as vintage pieces that she can throw together with a pair of chunky boots. Her fashion is her saving grace in her mind, seeing that she feels she doesn't get along with most people. Maybe it's the fact she is more of an introvert, maybe it's because she was homeschooled and that made her awkward - who knows (it's both). Roxana is beyond creative and once the inspiration hits, it's hard to turn it off. She's very talented through the ways of guitar and piano, and she's self-taught along with some fundamentals from her dad on the guitar front. Roxie tends to strive to make connections with people, but struggles in how to formulate strong bonds. The worry that people could be using her is also now another factor into her deficient social skills. Though, her awkwardness tends to give her an air of comedic timing to her being. She loves a good book, thrifting and attending hole-in-the-wall concerts. Roxie tends to try to blend into the background at events due to her lack of social skills, but attention seems to find her no matter what. She also doesn't help herself, seeing that she feels emotions so intensely and tends to be dramatic. She can't keep a secret to save herself. She's vulnerable, raw, real on the flip side of it. If you were to manage to maintain a good friendship with Roxie, she's always one to answer her phone at any hour. She'd also drop everything to be there for you in a heartbeat. Just a spicy Pisces Moon who can't flirt.

✩‧₊˚ Cassie Marigolds [YUUSONA INTRO]
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
✩ Name: Cassie Marigolds (キャッシー・マリーゴールド) ✩ Age: 17 ✩ Pronouns: They/She ✩ Birthday: September 1st (Virgo) ✩ Homeland: "Earth" ✩ Grade/Class: 1-A ✩ Height: 167 cm (5'6) ✩ Dominant Hand: Right ✩ Unique Magic: N/A ✩ Club: Science Club ✩ Best Subject(s): Animal Languages and Potions ✩ Hobbies: Sewing, collecting knick-knacks, and doodling ✩ Pet Peeve: Strict or Arrogant people ✩ Favorite Food: Orange marmalade ✩ Least Favorite Food: Dark chocolate ✩ Twisted From: Cinderella and Alice!
✩ Description: The Prefect of the Ramshackle Dorm. Cassie was once a chemistry student who after putting in a wrong ingredient for a risky experiment, find themselves failing in it and in a completely new world; Twisted Wonderland. To adjust to the standards, they turn to alchemy and potion-making as a way to compensate for their lack of magic and almost immediately excel in the field. Ever since then, she uses her new capabilities to solve problems that come through with her now chaotic life in a world of magic. There is still a huge part of them to this day think that they are simply stuck in a daydream that they can't get out of since this world is reminiscent of the fantasy world that they often drift to.
[Click below to read more! ↓]
✩ Personality: Cassie can be described as an independent, hard-working individual that's able to handle multiple responsibilities at once, even under pressure. They would prefer to handle jobs immediately and finish them as soon as possible in order to make their workload less heavy for them. Despite how they would often handle and complete tasks in a swift manner, they wouldn't mind adding more to the pile whenever given the chance. In fact, Cassie loves helping people out with any problems whenever they could, even when it's magic-related! She's almost always available whenever someone needs her. She would always try her best to adapt to her surroundings or situations the best she can, which she can take easily. When talking to her, she behaves politely with the person she's conversing with, giving them a likely impression that she's very sweet and patient, especially when she speaks softly towards anyone. But sometimes, people wouldn't be able to hear her words due to how quiet it is. Cassie was never a loud person anyways and never liked any attention from them, even though they already have that from the start (they do like it at the same time, now that people would see and approach them as someone who's reliable). They may seem like a quiet person who doesn't talk much but once they started to talk with someone, the person will be flooded with tons of innocent yet blunt questions from them. Being a curious individual, they have always wanted to learn more about their new environment and the people around them. Sometimes, she could come across as an airhead, their mind wandering off to their own fantasy world that they frequently indulge in whenever they really don't have anything to do at the moment, even when interacting with someone. They could also find themselves feeling lost during it and couldn't differentiate between their own daydreams and reality at times. This results in them sometimes getting taken advantage of by other students with their kindness, mostly asking them for help with their situations and whatnot. They would usually go along with whatever they want but fortunately, they do have some friends, mainly Ace and Deuce, who would fight their bullies back and defend them. Speaking of that, Cassie never liked voicing out any of their own problems and such, heavily disliking the idea to do so cause they don't want to be a burden for anyone else and that a lot of people already have high expectations of them as the 'Ramshackle Prefect'. They would have a hard time opening up to people about their thoughts and problems, even with their closest friends. They never seem to ask anyone for help either, preferring to shoulder their and everyone's responsibilities on their shoulders as they are used to handling everything by themselves at a young age. They may not say it out loud but they do need encouragement from their peers most of the time. Because she went through most of her life doing tasks all by her herself, Cassie finds strict and/or arrogant people to be irritating. The mere thought of someone heavily restricting her when she's almost perfectly capable of doing things by herself infuriates her. She could almost never understand why some people could also be so full of themselves and never stop and think about others instead for once. After all, she works as a peacemaker to diffuse fights and problems all the time. Another thing that could easily turn their mood sour is when they find themselves forgetting something that they have knowledge of, wanting to fulfill that role of NRC's 'lifeline'.
Tumblr media
✩ Fun Facts: - The reason why Cassie is interested in chemistry before getting mistakenly transported to Twisted Wonderland is that they enjoyed learning new reactions every time they did an experiment. It does wonders for them and satisfies their curiosity most of the time. - If you have noticed in their reference, they have a dimple whenever they smile :D - Cassie adores animals and loves to make friends with them. She has also always wanted to own one as a pet but unfortunately, wasn't able to due to how big their family already is and that would just add more responsibilities for them. So, they are pleasantly grateful to have Grim as their companion! They are happy to spoil take care of him the best they can as his henchhuman. - Since their dad owns a business where they sell boats and ships, they know how to control and ride one. - Their room is messy and has a lot of junk that they either don't actually use at all or that it's completely useless. Cassie only collected and store them there simply because it interests her and she thought she could do something with it for her experiments, only for her to completely forget about it after a few days. The knick-knacks would be sitting around literally anywhere and there would be even items like books or their bag just sitting around on top of their bed. Yes, they would always go to sleep with them, most of the time being too tired or distracted to remove and place them somewhere more appropriate. - Cassie is a picky eater and her favorite food would be anything sweet. She likes to have orange marmalade on toast every morning as her breakfast! She despises anything bitter though. - Since they heavily excel in alchemy and potion making as subjects, they have been considering opening up a small business where students could commission them to create potions that are a bit too tricky for anyone to make just so that they could make quick bucks and save them up for necessities, including tuna cans for Grim. - Thanks to her abilities to be able to sew and fix clothes from scratch, she enjoys doodling outfits in her sketchbook that she could come up with in mind, including dresses, whenever she has nothing to do for a moment. As much as she loves to, Cassie doesn't have the confidence to try and make those outfits, letting the sketches just sit there on the pages.

Booktok is ruining books?
I am currently rereading the Inheritance Cycle so I can pick up the 5th book, and it's kinda crazy to remember this was written by a 15-year-old? The revelation is extra startling because I read fourth wing a few months ago-they have pretty similar premises: dragon riders, telepathic connection, special powers, evil empire, etc. Obviously, they are aiming for completely different crowds but if someone would have advertised Fourth Wing as for fans of the inheritance cycle and acotar I wouldn't bat an eye. The common premise got me thinking a lot about what I didn't like about Fourth Wing, and I'm very struck by how much better constructed the story is in Eragon. The world-building makes more sense, the character's voice is more distinct and overall the plot has an actual arc and the pacing is much better!
(Granted I'm not acting like Eragon is peak literature, it's derivative and trope-ridden and has a classic hero's journey that we've seen a thousand times. However, as a middle-grade novel it works well as an introduction to fantasy and throughout the series finds ways to differentiate itself. Moreover, it is just a better-polished work)
There is also this other conversation about the declining quality of books since this Bloomsberg article came out: TikTok Is Turning the Publishing World Into Fast Fashion & to say its sparked a lot of conversation would be an understatement, but much of the article focuses on the release of Iron Flame (Fourth Wings much-anticipated sequel) in particular, and I can't say I agree 100% with it.
1. The title is obviously meant to catch your attention but now that I keep seeing people repeat it I just want to clarify that the biggest critique of fast fashion is that it is unsustainable, promotes overconsumption, and relies on cheap and unethical labor practices, so like no I don't think comparing publishing to that is 100% warranted instead the issue is mostly surrounding lack of quality, misprints, and the fact that many books read like unedited first drafts.
2. The article spends so much time focusing on Yarro's appropriation of Scottish Gaelic, and the obvious lack of research that went into it, and while yeah I agree its poorly researched. I also don't think this is some new phenomenon like authors leach off other cultures all the time for aesthetic purposes, especially from the middle east and people don't really seem to care then soooo....
What I do think can be gleamed from Yarro's success and the strategy used by her publisher Red Tower is that TikTok is definitely having an effect on publishing, relying a lot more on hype through influencer marketing and special editions than the actual craft and quality of the writing, so it makes sense they would blow more of their budget on marketing, sprayed edges, and extra arcs than spend the time or money on editors or sensitivity readers. Furthermore, it is difficult to do either of those things when you are fighting an algorithm that only spotlights a book for a good 2 weeks or so before it moves on to something else. It's no surprise then that publishers like Red Tower would crack this formula through their special editions, influencer marketing, and forced scarcity, and its also no surprise that once the FOMO wore off and the hype bubble popped people realized the writing was actually kind of shit.
In terms of overconsumption, TikTok is always going to promote it. You need to post on the site almost every day for the algorithm to work for you and bc it relies heavily on videos rather than photos you need to own a lot more to make decent content. In general its bad, but unlike clothing that goes out of style and is tossed in the bin, people do tend to hold on to their books, and large personal libraries do predate Tiktok. I highly recommend you support your local libraries whenever you can!
Honestly, I think there is so much more to be said about the pressure Booktok puts on people to read more and how this leads people to skim or avoid more challenging books, and the rise in anti-intellectualism but I think I have rambled enough.

I am the person from a few days ago who was struggling to differentiate between allistic and autistic versions of autistic traits. The problem for me with the autism criteria in trying to figure out between allistic and autistic is that while I meet the criteria for part B and relationships in part A, I feel my differences in social-emotional reciprocity and nonverbal skills are more a lack of interest. This is multiple long paragraphs, so feel free to skip to the Too long; did not read at the end or to just ignore this ask. It has always been my belief that expectations of a service should be proportional to cost, and as you are free you have no obligation to reply. Also, I know other diagnoses are a possibility, and I am officially diagnosed with ADHD, but it does not seem to fit well and based on the complete lack of effect from medication I doubt it is the cause of my issues.
I cannot tell what my listener is feeling. But I think it is not because I cannot identify emotions, but more because I do not care. I do not think I had to spend too long to figure out emotions but I do not care what people are feeling, and I have always thought it was better to listen to people’s words anyway because that is the real, chosen communication. I do find small talk boring and pointless, but I bet many people do, they only go along with it because it is expected of them, like thanking people for bad gifts, and funerals and dress codes. Who cares if someone wears stretch pants and a t-shirt and is also a lawyer. It does not indicate one's skill to wear a suit. It actually just indicates how wealthy one is. Plus it seems wrong to talk about how important women, trans people, and poor people are before talking about how dress codes are professional when they seem to be used against women, trans people, and poor people. Plus I believe things like the argument of professionalism are used against people of colour, like encouraging Black people to alter their natural hair and while I admit I have not researched this, would restrictions on hair length not impact Sikhs, who I believe are not permitted to cut their hair. Plus differing standards of hair based on gender reinforce gender binaries and can harm trans people. And haircuts are expensive, and even more expensive for women, I believe. Plus the focus on women covering their bodies is sexist and part of victim blaming, and also seems hypocritical when people try to ban Islamic women's body coverings like burkinis and hijabs, or force women's teams to wear more revealing uniforms. There is nothing sexist about a woman choosing to wear revealing clothing or a hijab. It is only sexist when people try and take women's choice away and so in restricting choice, the dress code is clearly sexist. And even if exceptions are made, there is a wrongness in that. Because not everyone can prove they are what they say they are. It can put pressure on trans people to need to be sure about gender instead of being free to explore, and maybe someone needs dress code exceptions due to disability, but not everyone has the means to prove disability, and really why are such arbitrary rules like dress code used when clothing says nothing about actual capability. I also focus more on correct use of words in conversation, but that is actually very important. When things are ill-defined how can we have a reasonable argument. I have also been told I go a bit far in making arguments in debate, and some people have found it rude when I attempted to get them to define something more accurately. But they should have told me if it was too much. How am I supposed to know they want me to stop if they do not tell me? I do struggle to initiate conversations, but I think it might be due to a sense of discomfort around strangers. I can initiate conversation more easily with people I know. I think it helps that small talk can be skipped over and we can head straight to the ethics questions or monologues about what I learned. But again, I think it might be a mix of social discomfort and getting bored with people, not that I cannot do it, but I do not want to.
I can make eye contact. I dislike it with strangers, but it is harmless with people I am more familiar with but I still only make it on occasion. Not because it is difficult, but I really do not see the point in looking at who you are talking too. This might also be why I do not feel what they feel during conversations, because I guess I make no effort to look. It just seems like a weird thing to enforce, but I can do it. I can do facial expressions. I have actively sought to add new ones to my repertoire by observing television. There is an occasional mismatch between tone and facial expression with me, but I can do correct tone with little effort. I find mostly that my face is neutral, and my tone is flat, but if I am interested in the topic I can sound excited and I think my face may be more expressive. I am also good at using a sarcastic tone, though I have found that by saying odd statements in my neutral voice they can be occasionally mistaken for sarcastic jokes even though I meant them seriously. But I again think that my nonverbal differences are more due to lack of interest than an actual inability. I think my nonverbal communication used to be worse, but when I decided to improve it in my late teens, I did not find it difficult to incorporate new body language, so it really does seem to come from a lack of interest instead of an incapability like in autism.
I never really fit in with other people, but it also never troubled me. Many people are very illogical, and overly attached to traditions and ideas they refuse to question. Sometimes it feels like I am better than them, and that if they could be like me they would be happier. And they do things wrong. I have watched so many times as people choose inefficient methods to perform tasks, and they never let me be in charge even though I am better. I found it extremely frustrating in high school and when I worked to be in groups with others because they would not do things my way, and I have the superior methods. If I could be left alone and completely in control I would be at my best. But also, when they give me a task they are too open-ended I struggle. They never clearly explain what they want, and they say stuff like "Go above and beyond," but if they want something specific done they should say so. If I asked for something to be done and someone added on to it without first discussing it with me I would be angry. And it is mentally exhausting to have to listen to people’s complaints about no one liking them, or weddings being expensive even though they chose to make it important and expensive, and how they are sad they have acne (I understand for the more painful kind, but I still have acne as an adult and it only adds extra details to the face to better distinguish me from the masses). And they never like talking about interesting things like death or ethics or questioning how our morality is developed and what the nature of good is. People deeply annoy me for this reason because they are so different in such a wrong way and they are not like me but they keep treating me like one of them. They called me callous, but I think I have more sympathy than them. I actively think about morality and apply logic to it and think about things all the time and actually make an effort to learn. And it seems to be more painful to me to do so, because I liked the more rigid way I used to see the world and I want to treat people like me instead of the way they seem to actually want to be treated. They taught me that you cannot assume what people want or how they feel based on what you as an individual want and feel because I was different, but because they have always been the majority they never even stop to think that I might be different and not want the pathetic things they want.
I hoped autism would be an explanation I could use. I do actually struggle. I work so hard to be less rigid and to be more sympathetic even though my way is better, but I get nothing for it and it is so easy to fall back into the way I used to be an I have to relearn and get used to caring and being flexible again and all the while people keep adding on to that and being wrong and it is so frustrating to always have to change for other people, especially when my way is better and their way is wrong and illogical. I hate being around people and I need time alone. I feel uncomfortable around those I am not familiar with and it is exhausting to have to put up with them at work or school. And I do have issues with sound and taste, and I would like those properly acknowledged. I have to be careful to get enough nutrients through supplements because I tend to eat restricted selection of good texture and taste foods and it is easy to fall into the trap of safer foods being too much effort to make so I skip meals, and then I am even more tired and making food is too much effort again. And people make so much noise and it is unpleasant and distracting and while I do use subtle earplugs they do not shut everything out completely and people feel I am being disrespectful even when I can hear conversation perfectly fine with my earplugs in. And they do not like it when I tell them to talk more quietly, even though they think it is perfectly acceptable to tell me to talk louder. Having to be around people and dealing with the sensory stuff is very draining. I start to feel unmotivated and disconnected after long periods of being around them. I felt miserable in high school, and when the pandemic came we were more isolated I was happier, but when they had us come back to university campus everything got bad again. People try to tell me I am depressed, but my low moods are very tied to what is going on around me. If people left me alone and if I could get accommodations, I might do better.
Too long; did not read: I do struggle with social stuff and have always felt very different, and it is hard for me to be around people and very exhausting, but I feel I do not truly meet the autism criteria, because my emotional and nonverbal skills are more absent due to lack of interest and understanding of purpose instead of true inability. I do feel I would benefit from some formal acknowledgement of difference and my traits are difficult for me, but they also do not seem to be autism enough and I am uncertain of what to do. I do feel an official diagnosis I can use of anything would help, because no one will listen to me without proof. Thank you for your time. Your efforts are appreciated, and I understand if you have nothing to contribute and would rather ignore this ask.
mate… this is pretty much textbook autism. lack of interest in other people and desire to do things in a strictly logical fashion are also traits associated with a couple personality disorders, so if you’re looking for something else to check as an alternative diagnosis, try:
obsessive compulsive personality disorder
schizotypal personality disorder
narcissistic personality disorder
that being said, nothing you’ve said would exclude you from an autism diagnosis. there is no reason that everything you describe could be solely due to autism. I’ll include some quotes from the DSM that might help you!
first — “deficits in developing, maintaining, and understanding relationships, including… lack of interest in peers”
many autistic people are completely uninterested in other people. many autistic people hate most people. many autistic people are completely unbothered about the idea of friendships and other relationships. personally, I love my friends… but I’ve never gone out of my way to form a friendship. this is not uncommon.
it’s also quite common for autistic people to take communication “at face value”. that is — listening to the words people are saying as is. this can mean not reading tones or emotions when communicating to others. in turn, we often expect that others will take us at face value, and can get frustrated when people try to read too deeply into statements we make.
second — “difficulties adjusting behaviour to suit various social contexts”
to a non-autistic person, it may seem as though we’re being rude or disrespectful on purpose, but this is often due to misreading social rules and social hierarchies.
autistic people often struggle to learn and process social rules, so many of them just seem nonsensical. you’re right… why should certain clothes be associated with a different status? why should we treat some people with more respect than others?
these social and cultural rules are naturally brought into question when you have to learn almost every social rule by rote. this means we often end up picking and choosing which rules to follow based on which ones actually make sense to us… hence being treated as though we’re being disrespectful for not following a rule that makes zero sense.
third — this is not in the DSM, but you must remember that many autistic people are able to mask
autistic people tend to be good at finding and copying patterns. for some autistic people, this extends to human behaviour.
as a child, I talked like someone from a Victorian novel, so I learnt how to talk more casually by watching TV. I learnt slang terms and body language from Dawson’s Creek and Saved By The Bell. unfortunately, I solely watched 90s and early 2000s shows, so my masking wasn’t super effective.
learning social skills in such a deliberate and practiced fashion is not regular allistic behaviour. most non-autistic people are able to learn these skills as children, simply by watching and copying those around them. it comes a lot more naturally to them, so they rarely have to go out of their way to deliberately learn these skills.
other autistic traits you seem to have are:
strict moral code
happier when isolated
hating group work
getting exhausted from socialising
needing clear instructions
TLDR; nothing you’ve said would be any reason to bring an autism diagnosis to doubt. many autistic people lack interest in social things, and many autistic people get confused about why others get offended by their more logical approach. I think you should investigate the possibility of an autism diagnosis

i wrote a comment on this one blogs review of the heartstopper Netflix show, and it didn't let me post, and i spent an hour writing it so i decided it needs to be somewhere
the article:
https://takepride.shop/blogs/blog/heartstopper-review-the-problems-of-its-adaptation?comment=126795088033#comments
my response:
tbh, i think every problem with the show could have been fixed with three things:
-more episodes, or at least the standard 10 episode season instead of 8
-make it a teen cartoon
-bring back the fantasy
The general pacing problems of every single character's relationship is a victim of the fact Netflix only gave them like 6 hours to work with, and not only that, but for some reason they decided to incorporate all of volume one into season one instead of make chapter one season one. i think this was probably due to Alice trying to adapt as much as they could into the show, and also add new plot points to expand on it, because if Netflix didn't renew it for a second season, that would leave the whole nick showing up at Charlie's house thing quote unquote, "unresolved" (i say this because it leaves the show itself on a cliffhanger, not the story.) if netflix gave seesaw and alice the standard 10 episode season, i think there would have been less pressure to cram in 250+ pages into 6 hours of screen time, and we would have gotten a more realistic approach to not only the passage of time, but also all of the relationship growth, and the kiss at harry's party would have been more appropriate set at the end of the season.
I'm a big advocate for animation, and i think adapting heartstopper into a teen drama cartoon would have not only benefited the show, as it would allow for more metaphorical nuance with charlie's mental health, but there really haven't been any teen cartoons in mainstream pop culture sense daria in the 90’s, and i think it would have been not only amazing to see a cartoon directed at teenagers that discussed mental health issues in a real life way, but also to show queer characters with actual personality's, goals, storylines, character archs, and in general things outside of “generic white twink with the fashion sense of a middle school social studies teacher that uses AAVE” or “generic white twink with button down has a secret relationship with a homophobic jock” or “generic white twink wears crop top and eyeshadow”
(i also think the show would have done better as a animated franchise, because the build up with the cast ahead of the shows premier gave me massive issues, because i wasn't watching nick and charlie's relationship, i was seeing kit connor and joe locke act, and having the show animated would have fixed this issue that i know a lot of people besides me had with differentiation)
I also wish the show played more into the aesthetic of “small town romance” that Nick and Charlie embody. Even though arguably most of the music featured in the show could be found on any heartstopper fan made playlist, i almost feel it doesn't do the vibe of heartstopper right, as the whole small-town-teenage-high-school-sweetheart-honeymoon-phase soulmates-romance of them hanging out all day everyday from the comic/novellas/novel is lost in something completely different. (I should note this is the feeling I get every time i see straight people use audios from the nick and Charlie novella on tik tok.) One of the best examples I have of this effect being literally lost in translation is the song “out of my league” by fitz and the tantrums. I saw two fan made edits, one made of the comic panels to the song, and one composed of clips from the show to the song. Both used the same section of the song, both made by the same creator. and I can't fully explain it, but the etherealness of heartstopper was fully missing from the show edit. It was lacking that distinct teenage romance montage fantasy that the book was giving.
It's honestly sad, because I think the show is good, and has legs to stand on separately, however poor execution of all the story, pacing issues, and the energy of the show just being sucked out of it will forever mean the source material is better.
A part of me does think however, this is in large part on seesaw rather than alice, as i'm sure if alice worked directly with netflix on everything, not only would everything just be better, but we wouldn't have plot holes like all of ben's character, all of harry's character, all of nick's friends excluding miss homewrecker (affectionately, i do usually root for the homewrecker), aleds replacement, tao’s hair, and definitely we wouldn't have the horrendous pacing of every single line.

Sociocultural Theory, Growth Mindset, and Stereotype Threat
Sociocultural Theory
- developed in the early 1900′s by Lev Vygotsky, a Russian psychologist
- emphasized the influence of social interaction and culture on child development
- overlapping ideas with Piaget
- Most important contributions:
scaffolding
zone of proximal development
constructivism
Reciprocal Teaching Process:
Summarize (Identify the main ideas of the reading)
Question (Ask questions to make sure the reading was understood)
Clarify (Address any areas of confusion)
Predict (Anticipate what you’ll read next or draw connections with prior knowledge)
Overview of Sociocultural Theory:
Learning happens first through interactions with others/environment/artifacts, then it is internalized.
Learning is most effective when situated within a person’s zone of proximal development.
All learning is mediated through our cultural understanding and experiences.
Tumblr media
Subject = Learner
Object = Topic to be learned
Mediating Artifact = Expert other, book, environment, etc.
Tumblr media
Zone of Proximal Development
Scaffolding in Sociocultural Theory
Breaking up learning into progressively more difficult challenges
Providing structure and supports throughout the entire process
Frequent opportunities to respond
Differentiation: this adapts to student accommodations as needed
Shaping: this is step-by-step for discrete tasks with rewards/reinforcers
Modeling: this is showing a student how to do something
Examples of Scaffolding:
Reminding students of prior knowledge to build upon
Discussing a reading passage as a whole group before assigning individual reading time
Outlining the steps to completion for an assignment
Think, pair, share, or turn and talk
Modeling or role playing how to do something
Tumblr media
Growth Mindset vs. Fixed Mindset, or Proving vs. Improving
entity theory of intelligence = fixed mindset - students feel smart when their work has no errors or mistakes, or work was easy - fixed and uncontrollable things tend to be measured & judged -if a person makes a mistake, they are always like that
learned helplessness --> fixed mindset
performance goals: pupils are mostly concerned with measurable results such as exam scores
incremental theory of intelligence = growth mindset - students feel smart when they master difficult challenges - malleable/controllable things tend to be acted upon or developed - if a person makes a mistake, that's a necessary step towards eventual success
mastery goals: pupils are more interested in improving their general competence and mastering the topic.
self-concept: core beliefs about oneself, a "collection of fixed traits that can be measured and evaluated"
self-esteem: how happy you are with yourself, a "system of malleable qualities that is evolving over time through the individual's efforts"
The extent to which an individual believes change is possible largely determines their ability to affect change.
This difference is not accounted for in terms of raw ability, because some of the brightest and most skilled individuals show helpless patterns of behavior.
Both views approach “easy” work in similar ways. The differences show up when work is challenging. If students are performance goal-oriented, then effort is negatively related to ability.
If students are learning goal-oriented, then effort is positively related to ability.
What Can You Do?
Ask yourself “Is my ability enough right now? If not, how can I improve my ability?”
Emphasize learning something rather than proving you know.
Match learning experiences with students’ ability.
Simulate high pressure situations.
Work through coping models for anxiety producing situations.
Stereotype Threat
defined as a social-psychological threat that arises when one is in a situation or doing something for which a negative stereotype about one’s group applies
causes disidentification, underachievement, and lack of motivation
experience of stereotype threat varies widely within groups and across groups
You don’t even have to believe the stereotype or consciously worry about it applying to you; it can still have an impact.
What Neutralizes Stereotype Threat?
optimistic student-teacher relationships
giving challenging work rather than remedial work
stressing growth mindsets
affirming domain belongingness
valuing multiple perspectives
identifying positive role models
non-judgmental academic interactions
building self-efficacy of students

Automotive Sector Struggles to Meet Customer Expectations, Reveals CSBA Report
The Automotive sector in Australia is evolving. Supply chain issues continue to affect the availability of new vehicles and parts; electric vehicles are disrupting the market; and an influx of new brands in the past few years is putting pressure on more established players to up their game.
So, is the industry stepping up to address these new challenges for their customers?
Recently released results from CSBA’s SenseCX Quality Benchmarking program suggest improvement is needed. In fact, the Sector Benchmark score has been on the decline for six successive quarters, contrary to trends in other sectors, where results are more stable or have seen improvement.
SenseCX is a Quality Assurance framework that measures the quality of customer interactions with an organisation’s Contact Centre, based on three factors — Success, Ease and Sentiment. CSBA publishes the SenseCX Quality Assurance benchmark results each quarter.
One hundred and ninety-two major Australian companies from eight sectors were included in the latest SenseCX results, where independent assessments by CSBA specialists were completed via anonymous telephone conversations, between July 2022 to June 2023.
In the Automotive sector, CSBA assessed a sample of customer interactions from nine automotive companies, contacting their centralised customer service lines. The vast majority of these brands sit firmly in the bottom half of the overall rankings. As a sector, the (median) Benchmark result was 50.5% and the average score for the Top 5 Performers was just 53.6%. Compare this to the Education sector, where the Benchmark sits at 58.2%, and the Top 5 Performers’ average sits at 78.4%, leaving considerable opportunities for improvement.
“Customers want their interactions with providers to be easy, effective, and engaging. In the interactions that CSBA assessed, behaviours that drive Ease scores were sorely lacking”, says CSBA Managing Director, Paul van Veenendaal. Agents did not instil a sense of ownership and buy-in around the customer’s enquiry, and they did not bring additional valuable information into the conversation to differentiate themselves from competitors. While traditionally the lowest scoring SenseCX Index overall, the sector averaged just 31.3%, compared to 44.3% in Education, 36.2% in the Utilities sector, 34.4% in Financial Services, and an overall average of 36.5%.
A similar story is evident for behaviours that drive Success scores — which averaged 58.2% across the sector, compared to 60.8% overall and 83.4% for the Top 5 Performers. While in almost all interactions the agent under assessment offered basic answers to the customer’s questions, only one in five asked effective questions to fully understand the customer’s needs, and less than two thirds provided a thorough and detailed response. Says van Veenendaal, “Critically, in less than half of the interactions assessed, was there evidence that agents attempted to manage their customer’s expectations around timelines and outcomes, a key behaviour in light of the industry’s supply chain issues”.
Of course, the importance of so-called ‘soft skills’ during customer interactions cannot be understated. Assessed under the Sentiment banner by CSBA, the automotive sector is loosely on par with the overall average (62.5% compared to 64.4%), but considerably behind the Top 5 Performers (who average 86.8%). Seemingly straightforward behaviours that aim to make the customer feel valued as an individual scored poorly. “Only one in five agents that we spoke to used the customer’s name, and only one in ten created a personalised moment with the customer, to try to develop the sort of personal connection that leads to brand loyalty,” says van Veenendaal.
The changing nature of customer expectations means that the quality of customer interactions in the automotive sector must match or exceed the experiences customers have when interacting with other organisations. When customers converse with someone working under a brand — whether they be in a central contact centre or through the dealership network — that customer should know that they can expect consistent, high-quality interactions that are successful, easy, and that leave them feeling positive about the brand. CSBA’s study shows that the industry could benefit from investing in its frontline staff in order to meet the ever-evolving expectations of its customers.

Why Students are Using Modafinil or Provigil?
You can see that there are many students that want to study during night. Because of hectic classes schedules they hardly get time to study in daytime. So that, modafinil use by students as a study aid is on the rise. The stress of trying to succeed in today's cutthroat academic environment is a contributing factor. In today's competitive academic and job markets, many students feel pressured to differentiate themselves from their peers.
There are so many students that drawn to buy modafinil because of the widespread belief that it is a "smart medication" that can increase focus and productivity in the classroom.
Students who are juggling a full load of classes and rigorous study sessions may find that Modafinil helps them stay awake and focused. Some students find that modafinil is excellent for keeping them alert and on task during late-night study sessions; this is of particular use when preparing for exams.
Because of this, a few students may decide to buy provigil or Modafinil as a study aid in the hopes of boosting their grades and opening doors to future professional success.
Mental health problems are a significant barrier to success in the classroom for many students. Many students with psychological disorders may find that taking Modafinil helps them get back on track if they have a period of decreased productivity due to their condition.
As another example, many freshmen have trouble adjusting to life in a four-year college or university. Hence, some students may feel pressured to buy modafinil without a prescription in order to keep up with their workload.
Medical treatment for youngsters with sleep difficulties is on the rise, which might be disastrous if the trend isn't stopped soon. An internationally recognised expert in the field of paediatric sleep medicine, recently raised awareness of the severe lack of paediatric subspecialists. Yet, the converse is true when it comes to doctors who focus on adult medicine; nowadays, everyone and their brother wants to become an adult specialist.
Specialists who treat adult insomnia earn a high salary. They are highly experienced in their line of work. However, those who assist children in overcoming sleep disorders earn far less. In addition, medical school graduates who are interested in paediatrics must complete additional residency training. What this means is that they will have to take on more debt and put off paying it off for longer. Because of this, the field of paediatric medicine is financially undesirable. Although financial constraints play a role, they are far from the most serious consequence of the severe shortage of sleep problem specialists. Access to medical treatment is the main problem.
Unfortunately, this might signify one of two things given the scarcity of sleep problem specialists who work with children. Either the child's family will have to spend a lot of money travelling long distances to visit a specialist, or the child may have to wait weeks or months to see a doctor. Another possibility is a hybrid of the two.

Benefits of Board up in Mt. Prospect and Evanston, Illinois
Boarding up is securing a structure from further damage by installing plywood, aluminum panels, and/or heavy-duty plastic sheets over open windows and doors. Properly boarding up a home or business can be an important step in protecting against water, theft, or further structural damage after a disaster such as a fire. Opting for board-up in Mt. Prospect and Evanston, Illinois, is necessary to protect homes and businesses from the aftermath of a fire. Regardless of why windows are damaged, one should only replace them once the board-up process has been completed. If a natural disaster has caused the windows to become damaged, it is essential to have the entire area boarded up and secured before any repair work begins. Local installers can provide homeowners with the necessary materials and expertise to board up their homes or businesses quickly and safely. Having the windows boarded up will help protect the home or business from further damage, looting, and theft. Reasons to Seek Board-Up Services: Different situations can necessitate board-up services, such as a fire, vandalism, or broken windows. Storm damage: Windstorms, tornadoes, and hurricanes pack a powerful punch and can cause extensive damage to a home or business, including broken windows and doors. The pressure differential caused by these events can cause windows and doors to burst open, leaving the building exposed to the elements and vulnerable to intruders. Fire: The heat from a structural fire can cause windows and doors to break, leaving the property open to further damage from the elements and theft. Additionally, fire can weaken window and door frames, making them prone to breaking even without direct contact with the fire itself. Property Vacancy: Foreclosed and abandoned properties may experience significant changes in pressure due to the lack of climate control. As a result, window and door frames may be forced open or distorted, allowing easy access for burglary or vandalism. Board-up services may be necessary to seal off the openings, restore security, and protect the property from further damage. Preventive Measures: One of the most effective measures for maintaining property security is regularly checking for broken windows and doors. Having the windows and doors inspected and maintained can help prevent a breach in security. When a big storm is in the forecast, board-up service should be considered to help protect the property from potential damage caused by high winds or other extreme weather conditions. Once the storm passes, the boards can be removed to restore visibility and accessibility to the premises. Money-Saving Benefits of Board Up Services: Board-up services are cost-effective when compared to the potential expenses associated with property repairs and replacements. Here are some of the money-saving benefits of investing in board-up services: Reduced risk of theft and vandalism: With board-up services in place, there is less chance that burglars and vandals can access one’s property and cause further damage. Improved home security: Board-up services can help reinforce the existing home security measures, making it more difficult for potential criminals to access the premises. Reduced property damage expenses: One of the most important benefits of investing in board-up services is that it reduces the cost of repairing any damage done to the property. One can expect to save money on costly repairs, as boarding up a property can help minimize the impact of the elements and prevent any further damage from occurring. Improved efficiency in the restoration process: With board-up services, one can speed up the restoration process and ensure that it is done efficiently. It is crucial to take the necessary steps to protect a property from further destruction, and board-up services are a great way to do this. Decreased insurance premiums: Last but not least, board-up services can help decrease insurance premiums by reducing the risk associated with a property. In a nutshell, board-up services are an effective and affordable solution for property owners who need to protect their property from further damage or destruction. Not only does it provide a quick and easy solution, but it also provides several other benefits, including increased security, an improved appearance, and decreased insurance premiums. In the event of fire damage, board-up services can also help minimize the spread of smoke, soot, and other hazardous materials. If the fire causes damage to the property and contents, fire damage cleanup in Harwood Heights and Chicago, Illinois, is necessary to ensure that the property is returned to its original condition.

Diabetes is generally tested with a simple blood test, which will give an understanding of your blood sugar levels. With the help of accurate results, doctors can provide guidance for diet and exercise, and also medications or treatments that help stimulate or manage insulin.

Apart from pointing out health complications, a sample of your urine can assist in pregnancy testing and drug screening.
Skin cancer screening : Statistics state that one of the ever-increasing and most common types of cancer across the world is skin cancer. It is adequate to keep your dermatologist on speed dial. Regular screenings can help detect parts of the skin that are precancerous or might create cancer someday. Early diagnosis is the key that can save you from this wide-spreading disease. It may be the most typical kind of cancer, but it becomes a lot easier to treat when diagnosed at an early stage.
Conclusion
If you’re in your 20s or 30s, make it a point to get your body medically examined on a regular basis, irrespective of whether you’re a man or a woman. It is essential to treasure your good health and do everything in your power to maintain that state.

Recognizing Clock Movements Functions
Tumblr media
A clock movement is that makes the wrist watch job, or function. The clock motor (also known as a movement in trade lingo) keeps track of how many pulses are being emitted by a quartz crystal, thus determining where the hands need to be positioned. The fundamental procedure of this gadget is hence conceptually basic, but the attribute established built on it can be potentially extensive and even exotic.
In olden days a clock motor was purely mechanical. A securely curled spring or a dangling weight furnished adequate rotational torque to transform a flywheel, as well as various sort of regulatory authorities managed its speed. Pendulums, escapements, and gear networks ensured accuracy of hand placement versus an adjusted dial.
In today's globe, the mechanical way of running clocks has actually passed the wayside, replaced by electronic methods. Placing a voltage differential throughout a quartz crystal causes it to give off pulses at a high and also invariable frequency, and also gathering the pulse count results in a record of elapsed time. Digital registers shop the counts, and also software application converts the rapid record right into hours, minutes, and secs.
This, then, is just how the modern-day temporal movement jobs, at the very least on a fundamental degree, preventing the requirement for (reasonably) cumbersome flywheels, pendulums, and networks of gears. However lack of mass additionally enables much innovation, in regards to functionality and also broadened feature sets, in that software program execution is somewhat quick. Timekeeping can be extended in several ways, and also uniqueness features are simple to add.
Extensive timekeeping comes in the kind of longer-than-normal cycles prior to everything resets. For instance, we are made use of to seeing clocks that reset every twelve hrs (no distinction between AM as well as PM), however there are motors that reset every 24 hours, or each week, or every month. Such expansions typically call for a correspondingly adjusted dial, and often an extra hand is needed to show the day of the week or the day of the month.
One more timekeeping distinction is the presence or lack of a pre-owned; some choose the constant ticking, while others choose no diversion. Then again, it is feasible to have a clock electric motor that supports a second hand that is silent and continuously sweeping throughout the dial. So, the options are momentarily hand that (a) ticks and jerks every second, (b) continually and quietly brushes up, or (c) is absent completely.
A special sort of time extension involves revealing tidal information; the tides are intermittent, yet acquired mainly from the lunar cycle equating to 24-hour and also 50 minutes. Hence, it is straightforward to set a wrist watch electric motor to reset itself according to the lunar timetable, with high tides and low tides presented properly. Certainly, the electric motor should be initialized appropriately, taking neighborhood conditions right into factor to consider.
Non-cyclical climate sensations can also be presented utilizing a clock movement, though periodicity of procedure is replaced with real-time conversion of input from sensors. Here, the dial is actually linear, not circular, as well as a single hand ranges in between both extremes according to the value registered on the sensor. It is common to find motors that display temperature, humidity, and/or barometric pressure in this way.
Uniqueness attributes are likewise conveniently configured right into clock movements. Playing chimes in among the usual tunes (e.g., Westminster) is easily available, with or without a hr count adhering to. Pendulums, no longer essential mechanical parts for timepiece procedure, however provide rate of interest as cosmetic oscillations.
In short, the old-style clocks (mantle, cuckoo, grandfather, and so on) are easily replicated today online, tweaking basic movement operations and also applying much more complicated functionality in software. There is essentially nothing that can not be achieved with appropriate understanding of clock parts movement functions.
