18. “I shouldn’t be in love with you.” 💕💕
hhhh i love this prompt thank you so much <33 prompts from this post.
Y'know that thing people always say? About how absence makes the heart grow fonder? Yeah. Eddie gets it now.
It's been five months since Robin whisked Steve away to Chicago so she'd have someone close while she's in college, and if Eddie thought he had it bad for Steve while he was right there at his side all summer long, it's got nothin' on how bad he's got it now. Steve calls him every other Saturday, and Eddie watches the phone all fuckin' day waiting for the damn thing to ring.
It's not like they don't see each other. Steve came home with Robin over Christmas, and he spent most of his time here at the trailer with Eddie. They're not a thing, not really. They're touchy and affectionate with each other, but they always have been. That's no different than it was the summer they spent in each other's orbit, never too far out of arm's reach from one another.
But they're not a thing, because Eddie's too much of a coward to risk their friendship by confessing his feelings when there's a very real chance he's being fucking delusional.
The thing is, though, Steve doesn't call anyone else on the kind of schedule that he calls Eddie. And when he calls, they stay on the phone for hours. There shouldn't even be that much to catch up on, but Eddie finds himself making note of every little thing that happens in Hawkins that he wishes Steve could be there for.
On Eddie's birthday at the end of January, decidedly not one of their designated call days, Steve calls him. It's two minutes after midnight and Eddie's got his guitar in his lap and a pencil wedged behind his ear, and the phone rings.
"Happy birthday," Steve says quietly when Eddie picks up the phone.
Eddie twists the phone cord around his fingers. "Thanks, Stevie."
"Was I first?"
Eddie huffs out a laugh. "Yeah. Didn't even give anybody else a chance. It's barely midnight. Shouldn't you be in bed? You have work tomorrow, don't you?"
"Mmm," Steve says, a little sound of confirmation. "Wanted to call anyway. So what do you want for your birthday this year?"
You.
Eddie's overcome with that feeling again, the tingle all the way down to his toes when he thinks about how gone he is on Steve, when he imagines his smile and his laugh and the warmth of him at his side. Eddie misses him a little more every single day.
"I mean... I dunno if you could deliver, Stevie."
"Try me."
Eddie aches. It's like Steve is begging him to say it. He wants to say it. So badly.
"I shouldn't."
"You shouldn't what?"
"I shouldn't be in love with you," Eddie whispers, and then he holds his breath.
It's quiet. Steve is too quiet for too long and oh, god, he's done it now. Stupid. That was so stupid. Such an idiotic thing to say, fuck.
"I'm coming home this weekend," Steve says at last. "I'm coming home to see you and take you out."
"Because...?" Eddie's voice shakes with hope.
"Because I... I haven't felt this way about anyone in a real long time. You really couldn't tell? We almost kissed on New Years, Eds."
"Well, y'know..." Eddie stammers. "Thought I imagined that."
He remembers how close they'd been that night, how Steve's breath had smelled of beer, how Steve looked at Eddie's mouth before Eddie'd turned away from him. Here he'd been thinking he'd stopped himself from making a stupid, terrible mistake.
"I can't play it cool anymore. Being away from you has been..."
"Hard," Eddie finishes for him.
"Yeah. I wanna try this with you. I wanna try... us. That okay?"
"Seems too good to be true."
"Maybe it is. We'll never know unless we try, right?"
Eddie twists the phone cord around his fingers again and tries to hide his smile behind the receiver, even though Steve's not here to see how stupid and love drunk he looks right now.
"Sooo... I did manage to charm you with my irresistible good looks and excellent taste in music?"
"Something like that," Steve says, and there's a smile in his voice. "I'll see you this weekend."
"Can't wait."
"Happy birthday, Eds. I... I'm sorry it took me so long."
"Better late than never, big boy."
still taking requests!

“baby? what if... i make a bad impression and they wont let me see you ever again?” eddie said, as he walked back and fourth across the trailer.
you sighed, "no eddie, they love you! i told them everything about you, like how much you like metal music, and d&d and—” eddie stopped his tracks. “you.. told them i liked metal music?! you do know typical strict parents hate metal music- oh god—”
you just sat there watching eddie go back, and fourth all over again. just rambling, and over thinking about what your parents would react to their perfect cheerleader, straight A student is dating a outcast and a nerd for a fantasy game.
“EDDIE! stop overthinking! if they wont approve of you well then ill break up with you.” you joked, but that made eddie even more worried.
“SEE THATS THE POINT!!”
"do you think your parents will hate me?” eddie quietly asked, “what? no ofcourse not! they will love you! now- stop it eddie, go get ready before we are late.” you giggle.
eddie looked at you dead in the eye, “shit your right! hold on let me find something!”
you saw eddie in his room running around like a chicken, looking for a decent shirt that didn't have any association with devils or anything that seems inappropriate.
it toom him 5 minutes running out of his room, with a pair of denim pants and a plain black t-shirt with a leather jacket, and obviously his shoes.
“do i look good?”
“eddie, baby you look amazing now cmon!” you dragged him outside and you both started to leave the trailer park.
not long after, you both arrived at your parents home. you saw eddie bouncing his leg he was nervous.
“baby, are you sure they'd like me?” he asked once more. you placed your hands on his cheeks “eds, they will love you so so so much! if they dont well i might have to disown my self just for you” you reassure him again.
he sighed and looked alittle more relieved. “oh, well okay then..”
when you finally convinced him to go out, he was shaking mentally but in the outside it seemed like he was tough
“hi! you must be eddie? our daughters boyfriend?” d/n greeted as he shook eddie's hand, d/n shot him a warm smile. “y-yes, i-i am..” he smiled nervously.
“oh! hii dear! your eddie right? come in, i just finished cooking dinner!” m/n happily greeted your brunette boyfriend.
“hi mr. and ms. y/l/n.” eddie got out a small peep, as you four walked through thr halls into the dinner table he saw all the pictures when you were younger, from winning a spelling bee contest, or you with your grandmother. he smiled in the inside, that you lived a happy life and you deserve.
"ah, now come sit sit!” m/n signalled.
so far, they weren't so scary afterall. he felt already comfortable like family. he spent only what? 2 hours with them, and he already felt contected to them. he learnt that d/n likes metal stuff, m/n was a total fantasy nerd.
another hour has passed, both you and eddie decided to leave. you bid your goodbyes to your parents, and went inside the car feeling relieved.
“see, i told you they wouldn't hate you.”

For once in his life, Eddie had finished an assignment early. He handed in his work at the end of class, receiving a surprised look on both his teacher's and other students' faces.
"Ain't no way." the teacher said as she quickly skimmed over Eddie's work.
"Yes ma'am, the freak has actually handed in a piece of work on time!"
"Well I'll be damned. Now get to lunch Munson."
Eddie felt a sense of peace as he walked out the door, eyes scanning the hallway for his partner, Y/N. Usually they'd wait for him outside of class as their teacher had a habit of letting them out 5 minutes early, but today they were nowhere to be seen.
"Hey, have you seen Y/N?" Eddie called out to Dustin who had left his classroom as well.
"I saw them before 2nd period, but I don't know where they are now. Sorry dude." Dustin replied before walking off in the direction of the cafeteria.
"You coming to lunch?" Dustin asked as he waited for his friend.
"In a bit, just wanna find Y/N first." Dustin nodded and ran off while Eddie stood against the door, thinking of all the places his love could be. Immediately he checked off the bathroom and any classroom. You claimed the best time was to go 15 minutes before class, as the bathroom would quickly fill with students during lunch, and he knew you had no reason to stay behind. He considered the gym, but it wasn't any sports season, nor was there band practice, not that you participated in either activities. The space next to your locker was empty too, so he didn't know where else you could be. Had you skipped school? And more importantly, without him? He decided to just walk around in hopes that he'd find you sooner than later.
After having gone up and down the stairs what felt like a hundred times, he stopped in front of one of the music practice rooms. An energetic yet slightly chaotic piano piece was coming out of the room. Eddie didn't recognize it, but he was mesmerized at the sound of someone playing so skillfully. Upon further inspection, he realised his love, his Y/N was the one playing so well, effectively freezing Eddie in his spot. He pulled the door open slightly and just watched as they continued to play. As the piece finished, he started to clap, scaring you and making you jump in your seat.
"Jesus Eddie you scared me!" you whispered as you turned around to see your boy standing in the door way.
"And you surprised me! I had no idea you could play the piano, let alone this well! Why didn't you tell me?" he asked as he sat down next to you, intertwining his fingers with yours.
"I didn't think you'd care... You can't exactly play metal music on the piano, and plus, I'm classically trained and don't know much about other genres."
"Are you kidding me? Sweetheart that was beautiful! Felt like I was getting a private concert at some hall over in New York City! Doesn't matter if it's not metal, it was still beautiful, even more since you played it." Eddie cooed as he kissed your hands. You giggled at the sight of him being so soft despite his exterior appearance. Eventually the two of you went to lunch and forgot about his interruption of your practice.
Later on in the day, after school, you picked up your overnight bag and got into Eddie's van. Your parents were out of town and agreed to let you sleep at his place since you didn't want to be home alone.
"I got a surprise for you baby!"
"Really? What is it?"
"You'll just have to see when we get to the trailer!"
"Oh come on Eds just tell me what it is now!"
"Nope, you gotta be patient."
"Ugh fine!"
The second you entered the trailer Eddie wrapped his hands around your eyes, preventing you from walking any further.
"Now, walk slowly, okay?"
"Eds just show me what it is!"
"No! That'll ruin the fun, now march!"
You laughed as you stumbled over various things thrown on the floor as you tried to walk as carefully as possible. Eventually you hit something with your shins, making you drop down to feel what you had hit.
"It's a chair...?" you asked.
"Good job baby, now sit in it!"
You continued to feel around the chair until you found where to sit.
"You ready?"
"Mhm!"
Eddie took away his hands to reveal to you a keyboard placed in front of the bench you were sitting on.
"Eddie?! When did you get a keyboard?" you yelled, excited over having an instrument to play in his trailer.
"I got it for you sweetheart!"
"Yeah but, when?"
"I may have forced Gareth and Jeff to skip and take one from school and bring it here during last period..."
"Oh my god, Eddie! You didn't have to!"
"I know, but, I saw how happy it made you, and how mesmerising it was to watch you play, so I totally had to. Now, play maestro!"
You clapped your hands together, thinking of what you could play, as Eddie jumped into bed and lied on his stomach, watching your fingers dance over the keys.
Time had passed, you weren't sure how much, but at some point Eddie's comments and questions had stopped, and had been replaced with slight snores. As you came down from your high after being thrilled to play a few songs, you turned to your left to see your love asleep, in a similar position to what he was in when he was watching you. Smiling fondly, you changed into your pyjamas and used the bathroom before joining him in the bed.
Eddie smiled as he felt the bed dip, opening his arms as he waited for you to embrace him, eyes opening when he didn't feel anything.
"Baby, you comin to bed?"
"Yeah, when you admit you're a poser!"
"A poser?"
"Yeah! What happened to, I'm Eddie Munson, I only fall asleep to rock music or no sound at all!"
"When did I say that?"
"About twice a week, every week! Where's that hard shell of yours?"
"Hey, it's still here, I just let it down with you! I'm not a poser!"
"You totally are, Mr. I'm a hardass."
"Okay maybe, but I'm you're poser right?" he asked as he plopped himself back into bed after having taken his shirt off and changed into plaid pants.
"You're my everything, Eddie, not just my poser." you stated as you climbed into his arms, pulling yourself close to his body.

are you worried about the Wicked movie? I am.
I am also really confused why Dorothy was in the trailer!
I'm going to answer the second part of this ask first with a quote:
"I didn't realise this was to do with The Wizard of Oz! It clicked like 40 minutes in, and after that, I really started to enjoy it."
-some guy behind me during intermission of Wicked in September of 2023.
And I've seen a few comments along these lines in the YouTube comments on the trailer in the past week.
There are absolutely people out there who have no idea what Wicked is; or who just would not connect the mental dots of "green witch- Wicked Witch of the West- Wizard of Oz". Maybe people out there who haven't even seen or really heard of The Wizard of Oz. Especially younger people- I teach high school. The number of times I mention a book/film that my students have no idea what it is... nothing makes me feel older than when I have to explain to a 15 year-old what The Lion King is (true story. But the kid knew Seinfeld??)
I don't remember if this was something I read or heard someone say once, but someone once said/wrote "movie studios assume audiences are stupid".
That, and the fact it is a teaser trailer and did not appear to be Act/movie 1 specific, is my guess as to why Dorothy and co are glimpsed in the trailer. To make it very obvious to people that yes, this is connected to The Wizard of Oz.
As to am I worried about the movie?
Not... not really? At least, not in the way some people may be. I'm not worried about if they're going to make it in a way that I love, because the odds of that are very low. Jon Chu and I, to the best of my knowlege, do not share a brain. And I'm pretty easily able to just set the movie aside if I dislike it that much and ignore it- like a certain season of Scrubs or any Pirates of the Caribbean movie past #3, or all of the MCU after Endgame (actually, often including Endgame and Infinity War).
I'm also really hoping/excited for the idea that the movies will bring new life into the fandom.
What I am worried about, I suppose (not sure if worried is the right word), is people seeing the film who haven't seen the show; and then reading my fanfiction and being like "you're doing it wrong because the movie did it like this".
I'm assuming Ao3 and FFnet will add a separate category once the films are out, so that we can easily sort bookverse vs musicalverse vs movieverse, and any combination thereof that people want to read/write.
And while I'm not sure about the FF world, I did see this happen with Percy Jackson when the TV show came out- people complaining about the TV show getting things "wrong" because they were different from the movie- because they hadn't read the books.
(storytime: I once showed a class The Lion King- the 1994 version- as an end of term treat, and after the lesson a girl came up and asked me where the 'Morning Report' song was. And I realised- in horror- that her copy of the movie she'd grown up with was the special edition DVD they'd released in the early 2000s with that song inserted back in. As far as she was concerned, that was how the movie went and what I'd shown them was WRONG.)
Rationally, I know that most people won't be an issue- they'll just filter accordingly and read what they want to read. But I'm fully expecting there to be at least drops of that, because I've already had bits of it over the years; of people commenting on my fics that something is "wrong" because it wasn't like the book- even if everything is clearly labelled as being based on the musical and not the book.
So I'm not really worried, I'm just... pre-emptively tired.

I'm having a thought about Eddie Munson
(do timelines match? don't know don't care just listen to me please I beg)
((word count: 798 words. content warnings: use of period typical homophobic language, minor child neglect mention))
Eddie played the song bad reputation once in front of his father. he called him a sissy fag and locked him outside. It's not the first time it had happened, it wasn't the last time. but he did what he always did when that happened. Walked to the back fence, and used the slats to jump it, before walking to ricks to stay until his dad called. That's where he always went, and that's how it always happened.
Until, of course, Brian Munson had to go get himself arrested. And he got handballed off to his uncle Wayne. He was fifteen when it happened.
______________________________________________________________
He'd been staying with Wayne for just under a week when he found the tape in the tiny music store in the shitty strip mall of Hawkins, Indiana. Whenever Wayne left to go to work, he'd grab the tape and let it play through the trailer. And as soon as he heard Wayne's falling apart truck get near, the tape was off and under his mattress before he could even blink.
It took a month before he managed to play it (incredibly quietly) in the trailer while Wayne was home. He didn't expect Wayne to go into his room that day, thought they'd just keep following the routine of Wayne knocking on his door, telling him he was leaving for work and lock up behind him. That was the routine and that's what happened every day.
But at 8pm, when Wayne tells Eddie he is going to work and lock up behind him, he hears a quiet sound coming from behind one of three working doors in this shithouse. He knows this song, he's heard it on the radio. It's not his favourite, not by a long shot, but it's a good song. He hears quiet feet hopping around in the bedroom, someone so desperate to follow what they've been taught, no matter the person who taught them it isn't there anymore.
Wayne cracks the door open, just enough to see what's going on, and watches as Eddie becomes so unashamedly him, jumping around and whisper-screaming lyrics.
Wayne's quiet when he knocks on the inside of the doorframe. and he's even quieter when he says "turn it up." He watches Eddie freeze. Wayne doesn't know what to do. He doesn't pretend to either. He didn't even know who Eddie was until a month ago, when he got a call from the Indiana State Police Department, telling him that his nephew, Eddie Munson, was coming to stay with him for an indeterminate amount of time. He knows it will be hard, he knows how much he looks like his brother. Not twins, but by god close enough. And he's not stupid either, he was in 'nam for fucks sake, he knows what shellshock looks like. He doesn't know Eddie, doesn't even know if it'll help, but it's worth a shot. He slowly, quietly walks to the shitty third-hand stereo system he put in the bedroom, and slowly turns up the music.
And Eddie? Eddie isn't having a great time right now. He knows he's probably scaring Wayne. But he isn't there, Everything that happened with his wet sack of dicks for a father is still fresh, no matter how much he wants to pretend it's not. It still stings when you press it, it's still itchy like when you're just starting to get a scab. He sits there and relives what his father did, his father said, what he called him. Fag. Sissy. Fuckin' queer. It still hurts to hear it no matter whose mouth they're falling out of. Everything he's ever been reprimanded for, everything he's ever done wrong rattles around behind his forehead like someone shaking a hornet's nest.
Wayne watches as Eddie comes back to his centre and starts listening to the world's present, not the world's past. As Eddie starts to come back slowly, he begins to dance. It's not dancing, dancing. It's more just kicking his legs through the air and thrashing his head. And as Eddie gets closer to the real world, he starts yelling the lyrics he remembers. it's off-key and patchy and Wayne cannot hold a tune to save his life but he's trying.
He's trying so hard, so incredibly hard, to make Eddie feel even slightly safer around him. And Eddie watches as this grown man who just got dumped with a shithead delinquent 15-year-old jumps and yells and makes an absolute ass of himself and thinks, maybe it'll be alright. and his shoulders begin to loosen as he slowly laughs and begins jumping around too like an absolute maniac, so he can watch his uncle smile, at least once.
(and during eddies last moments he realises, that's the first time he ever felt alive)

✦ MILLY ALCOCK, DEMIGIRL, SHE/THEY✦ ALEXIS HAYES the TWENTY-FOUR year old has been in Hidehill for ENTIRE LIFE and was a FAMILY FRIEND to Miyeon Kang, the murder victim. Whispers on the streets are that the LIVE PERFORMER AT THE CADILLAC LOUNGE who lives in HAGFIELD are said to be PASSIONATE and FORGETFUL but I guess we’ll find out for ourselves.
TRIGGER WARNING ; death, grief
##  —  THE  STORY
Growing up on the Hayes farmland, there was never an ounce of love missing in their life. Last born into the family with two older siblings, to say she was the baby and treated a such is mildly putting it. It was of no bother, loved the attention and quality time the family all got to share.
Taking care of the animals or the land had never been their favorite thing, often being recalled to order to put their hands in there instead of lounging around with headphones on, music on full blast cutting a first, second, third call of their name. ( if their love for rock bloomed from somewhere, they have their big sister to thank. )
She was too young when the first tragedy happened, barely eleven years old attending the service of their mother. And it wasn't enough to lose a mother, it felt like they'd lost a brother for a while. Grief is a devastating thing, and where Alexis wanted to seek refuge in their older brother, a door was met. She can't thank Diana enough for that moment in the Hayes' history. Each deal with it the way they see fit, there's never any resentment for family.
No, it's an accepting one, that's really what Alex had been blessed with. It allowed them to explore a lot of questions they've been having, feeling comfortable and safe within the reach of their siblings to express themselves genuinely and without fear of them walking away.
Where Diana is the brains, Jordan is the brawns, Alexis is the arts. Not exactly academically gifted to aim for a career like the eldest, lacking in the physique department to be of any true help on the farm, they find the thriving point in art. More especially music.
Any extracurriculars they could take involving music, they would jump on it. Would've loved to take off somewhere to study more of it, but academics would never be something achievable, lacking the discipline to sit through long classes and forgetting to turn in a lot of work, only wanting the fun part of the experience.
A lack of mentors didn't mean a lack of will. Self taught themselves guitar and keyboards, the drums came later with the help of a highschool friend that would let them come over to play for hours. She would start doing some gigs here and there around the town's bar. Not old enough to drink, they just let them play a few songs and be happy to see a local talent bring some energy to the place.
When Diana moved away, it felt like a third loss to grieve in eight years. Alex knew it wasn't a real one, kind of. They've all been so tight knit on the farm, it was hard to think one more presence would leave the walls.
But it's not long until she follows suit, sorta. Being the baby in a house left with their dad and brother, it wasn't exactly the atmosphere they wanted for their creative outlet. Coming back home was often more work, work they would forget and the fiery spirit of the Hayes sparkling sometimes, they needed their own space. Not much, but by age 21, Alexis is out of Hagfield and into a trailer of their own in Hadley Park.
They keep getting gigs around town, scoring a more permanent house in Cadillac Lounge. Theirs is an oversaturated field, she knows, but there's nothing their passion isn't going to push through. Hidehill is a small town, and they'd love to reach outside of it, eyes been set on Nashville. It's still close enough if help is needed back home. They're set to go, drumsticks in the back pocket of their jeans, when the Hayes patriarch's state can't be handled anymore. Leaving becomes unattainable, not in good conscience, anyway. This fourth loss is the hardest one. How do you mourn someone that's still there, but fading away inevitably, without an ounce of power to stop or slow it ? Alexis doesn't like to visit, but they make an attempt to spend more time with their dad when they still can. Coming back on the farm to help pack a few of his things, it left a knot in their stomach they still didn't get rid of.
Then the disappearances start, turning into bloody murder, and Alexis is glad to have pillars set deep in to keep them steady. Bringing back home older sister dearest, maybe something good could come out of the atrocities they find themselves into. They'll need the Hayes squad more than ever before.

Is there any way you can quickly recap Eroda? I’m lost...haven’t had time to keep up. Also, if the consensus is that it’s Harry PR driven, what’s the point? Ty for your time.
I'm not the best person to recap it cos I'm not really interested in it beyond it being A Thing Harry's Doing. Like, I'm interested in how it culminates - I can't wait! - and I'm interested in the fact that he's doing a clever online campaign and pissing off gamers. But the individual quirky clues etc don't interest me. I just want to see the short film/video/whatever it is. So this is a basic overview-
So a dude on Twitter (possibly/probably a plant) saw online tourism ads for the island of Eroda. And when he looked into it he found the island didn't exist. He wrote a Twitter thread about it that went viral. Gamers were convinced it was promo for some alternative reality game so they got really into it.
The ad itself is cheap and the voiceover is badly written and vague, and it was pretty obvious that this was a fictional location. The website for Eroda says copyright 2004 but was only registered last month. It is also cheap and badly written (purposefully, quirkily badly written. Like it's clear the copy was there to drop clues). The location photos are a composite of places in Denmark and Norway ...but mostly from a village in Scotland where Harry was seen filming.
Harry fans scoured the website for clues such as mentions of streets called "Golden" and "Cherry". There was a line about the local youths having really quirky hairstyles which we'd seen on Harry's shoot. And lots of mentions of fish and fishing.
Then Visit Eroda social media sites popped up and it was clear that plants had been tweeting about it over the previous few days - weird and odd references to being stuck on the island and not being able to leave. Locals from the real village Harry filmed in were involved. There were references to Dec 12 & 13.
Of course Harries started tweeting too, so then there were hundreds of tweets and it was hard to know which had been planted. Were the Visit Eroda people playing with Harries who thought it was Harry by planting clues, or was it all a Harry campaign to begin with? This question made a lot of precious gamers very upset which is quite amusing.
Quickly people started seeing Visit Eroda ads online on their social media. This campaign clearly had money behind it. Brochures were spotted in NY. Merch went online. But then someone checked Facebook's ad tracking info (On FB you can click "why am i seeing this ad? and it tells you why you were targeted). It said it was because they'd visited Harry's website. The advertiser would have needed access to the code of hstyles.co.uk to link the ads, so the game was up. It was Harry.
And then yesterday evening (while i was in the pub) a new fake Twitter "leaked" a a DM that a "friend" sent them of a bad video from a cinema in a remote Scottish village (...which I'm pretty sure doesn't have a cinema, and anyway it looked like a screening room...) The video was supposedly of a cinema ad/trailer played before a movie. It's a clip of Harry on the island that appears to be from a short film.
So, here we are. Harry has made some sort of short film or extended music video about a boy on this weird island of Eroda, and no doubt it'll be released soon. The viral campaign is to build intrigue and I guess just do something creative, arty and unexpected to promote the album. It's pretty fuckin' cool.

Duke Reviews: Captain America: The First Avenger
Hello, I'm Andrew Leduc And Welcome To Duke Reviews Where We Are Continuing Our Look At The Marvel Cinematic Universe...
youtube
Where Today We Are Looking At The First Movie With The First Avenger, Captain America...
When I Saw The Trailer For This Movie, I Had No Idea Who Captain America Was, I Had Seen The Original Movie With Matt Sallenger When I Was Younger But I Had Absolutely No Memory About It Whatsoever And After Watching The Nostalgia Critic's Review Of It, I'm Glad I Don't...
So I Went To The Comics And Bought An Omnibus Of Captain America Comics With The First Few Issues, And I Liked It To The Point I Couldn't Wait To See The Film In Theatres, However, When I Saw The Captain America Costume I Started To Not Hold Out Much Hope For The Movie As It Didn't Look Like Captain America From The Comics
And The Idea Of The Human Torch Playing Cap Instead Of Someone Who Hasn't Been A Superhero Just Added To That But Luckily, When I Saw The Film I Absolutely Loved It But Is It As Good As I Remember It?...
Let's Find Out As We Watch Captain America: The First Avenger...
The Film Starts In The Arctic, As 2 Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. Are Taken To A Ship That Has Been Uncovered By A Russian Oil Team, Lasering Their Way Into The Vessel, The 2 Agents Find The Vessel Iced Over. Discovering What Looks To Be A Red, White And Blue Shield Covered In Ice, One Of The Agents Tries To Contact Nick Fury, Saying That He Has To Know About What They Found...
But Before We Can Find Out, We Go To A Flashback In Norway In The Year 1942, As A Hydra Tank Barges Into A Church, So The Leader Of Hydra, Johann Schmidt (Played By Hugo Weaving) May Enter With Soliders To Find The Tesseract...
(Imitating Agent Smith From The Matrix) Mr. Anderson...
Searching A Tomb, Schmidt Finds Something That Looks Like The Tesseract But As Schmidt Points Out, The Tesseract Was The Jewel Of Odin's Treasure Room And It's Not Something Someone Buries...
Asking The Caretaker Where The Tesseract Is To The Point Of Threatening To Destroy The Entire City, The Man Points To A Big Wooden Wall Carving Of Yggdrasil, The Tree Of The World, Which Is Where Schmidt Finds It...
With The Caretaker Telling Schmidt That He Contol The Power Of The Tesseract And He Will Burn For It, Schmidt Kills The Caretaker Before Walking Out...
Meanwhile In New York, We Go To An Army Enlistment Center Where Steve Rogers (Played By What's Left Of Chris Evans After Playing This Character For Many Movies) Attempts To Join The Army Only To Not Get In Due To His Bad Health..
Going To A Movie Afterwards, Steve Gets Mad At A Guy Who Doesn't Care About The Newsreels And Wants The Cartoons To Roll Which Leads To A Fight Outside Between The 2 Of Them...
Saved By His Best Friend, Bucky Barnes (Played By Sebastian Stan) Who Got Himself Enlisted And Is Shipping Out Tomorrow So, That Night Him And Steve Take 2 Girls (One Being Possibly An Ancestor Of Clara Oswald) To The World Of Tomorrow Expo Where They See A Science Demonstration Done By Howard Stark (Played Here By Dominic Cooper)...
Going To An Army Recruitment Center At The Expo, Bucky Tries To Stop Steve From Enlisting Again (As He's Been Lying On His Enlistment Forms And That's Technically Illegal) But Not Willing To Sit On The Sidelines Anymore, Steve Tells Bucky That He's At Least Got To Try No Matter What The Cost...
Telling His Friend To Be Careful And To Not Do Anything Stupid, Bucky Leaves, Overhearing His Conversation With Bucky, Steve Is Confronted By Dr. Abraham Erskine, A Scientist Who Works For The SSR Who Offers Steve A Chance To Get What He Wants...
Meanwhile At Hydra HQ, Johann Schmidt Has Arnim Zola (Played By Toby Jones) Work On A Machine That Will Transfer The Power Of The Tesseract Into Weaponry For Hydra....
Activating The Machine, Arnim Zola Is Cautious When Raising The Energy For The Transference But Schmidt Is A Patient Man And Places The Machine At Full Power Which Causes A Interesting Effect But It Works...
With The Energy They Have, Zola Tells Schmidt That It Could Not Power All Of His Designs But Change The War As Well As The World...
A Few Days Later At The SSR Base Camp, Steve And A Bunch Of Other Guys Are Briefed By Agent Peggy Carter (Played By Hayley Atwell) And Colonel Phillips (Played By Agent K Himself, Tommy Lee Jones) Who Tell Them About The SSR And How They Will Be Choosing A Man To Be The First In A New Breed Of Super Solider...
Cue The Training Montage!
Well, I'll Admit Steve Isn't Mulan But He Got The Flag!
With Erskine Deciding That Steve Is The Right Man For The Job, Phillips Fights Erskine On It As He Believes That Steve Is A Loser And That A Man Named Hodge Is Better Decision As He Passed All Their Tests, But Looking For Qualities Beyond Physical For This, Phillips Decides To Throw In A Dummy Grenade Which Steve Gladly Takes For His Fellow Soldiers, Saying That He's Still Skinny, Phillips Walks Away...
With The Experiment Happening The Next Day, Erskine Pays Steve A Visit In His Bunk Where He Asks Erskine Why Him? This Leads Erskine To Tell Steve How He Was Recruited By Adolf Hitler Himself To Join The Nazis But Telling Hitler That He's Not Interested, Hitler Instead Sent Schmidt Who Shares A Passion With Hitler For The Occult And Myths...
However Unlike Hitler Who Believes It To Be Fantasy, Schmidt Believes It To Be Real And That There Is Some Great Power Left By The Gods Waiting To Be Seized By Man. Hearing About Erskine's Formula, Schmidt Could Not Resist Taking That Power For Himself, But When Schmidt Took It There Were Unfortunate Side Effects...
Saying That The Formula Amplifies Everything That Is Inside Of The Person, With Good Becoming Great And Evil Becoming Worse, He Says That That Is Why Steve Was Chosen Because A Strong Man Who Has Known Power All Of His Life Will Lose Respect For That Power Where A Weak Man Knows The Value Of Strength And Compassion...
Before Tomorrow, Erskine Has Steve Promise Him One Thing, That He Will Stay Who He Is, Not A Perfect Solider But A Good Man...
Back At Hydra HQ, Schmidt Tells Zola That His Men Have Located Erskine And Tells Zola To Give The Order To Kill Him...
Taking Steve To The SSR's Hideout, Peggy Takes Steve Into A Lab Where The Experiment Will Happen...
youtube
youtube
Meanwhile At Hydra HQ, Schmidt Is Visited By Some Of Hitler's Generals Which Leads To Him Showing Them The Results Of His Work By Saying That Hydra Is Developing An Arsenal To Destroy Schmidt's Enemies In One Stroke Including Germany, Which Leads To Him Wiping The Generals Out With One His New Weapons...
Tumblr media
I Guess We Can Change The Name Of The Musical To Springtime For Red Skull...
With The President Retasking The SSR To Go After Hydra, Steve Wants In But With Erskine's Death, Phillips Considers The Project A Failure As Erskine Promised Them An Army Of Super Soliders And That Just Having Steve Is Not Enough To Win The War.
However, A Senator Believes Different After Both Him And The Country See Steve In Action And Offers Steve Another Opportunity To Serve His Country...By Selling War Bonds....
youtube
(Start At 0:22)
And What Can I Say About This? I Absolutely Love It! There's Only One Other Thing That Could Top It And That's If They Played This...
Doing A Performance At An Army Camp That Goes Horribly, Steve Runs Into Peggy Who Reminds Steve That Erskine Wanted Better For Him Than To Just Be A Performing Monkey, Seeing Wounded Soliders Come In From The 107th, Steve Remembers That That Is Bucky's Troop Which Leads Him To Talk With Phillips About If Bucky Survived And Phillips Makes It Look Like He Didn't...
Tumblr media
Asking If Phillips Is Planning A Rescue Mission For The Ca, Phillips Tells Steve No As They're 30 Miles Behind Enemy Lines That Are Heavily Fortified And They'd Lose More Men Then They'd Save, But Unable To Accept That Steve Plans A Rescue Mission With The Help Of Peggy And Howard Stark, Who Takes Steve Into Enemy Lines On Board Stark's Airplane...
Parachuting Into Enemy Lines, Steve Boards A Truck That Takes Him Into Hydra Base, Once Inside, Steve Rescues The Missing Soliders Including The Howling Commandos (With Two Of Them Played By Damien Dahrk And Spider-Man's Principal?)...
youtube
(Start At 0:31)
With The Soldiers Fighting Hydra And The Base Exploding Around Them, Steve And Bucky Go Up Flights Of Stairs Only To Be Confronted By Schmidt...

Back At The SSR Camp, It's Believed That Rogers Is Dead But...Yeah, Steve Survived As Well As The Soliders From The 107th Including Bucky...
Meanwhile In Washington, Steve Is About To Get A Medal For Valor By The Senator But Of Course He's Not There...
Stan Lee Cameo!
Tumblr media
Returning To The SSR's Headquarters In London, Steve Shows Peggy The Locations Of The Hydra Bases That He Saw On Schmidt's Map While Bucky Tells Them About The Weapons Factories However, Hydra Has Shipped The Parts To His Main HQ Which Is Not On The Map...
Phillips Tells Carter To Coordinate With MI6 (Which Makes Me Wonder If Captain America And James Bond Have Ever Teamed Up) To Look For Schmidt's Main Base, While They Send Rogers To Deal With The Other Bases...
With Phillips Putting Together A Team To Help Steve, Steve Already Has People In Mind Which Leads Him To Recruit The Howling Commandos And Bucky To Help Him...
The Next Day, Steve Goes To Meet With Howard Stark, But While He Waits, He Talks With Margaery Tyrell Which Leads To Her Kissing Steve (And Who Wouldn't Want To Kiss Her) Only For Them To Be Spotted By Peggy Despite Steve Thinking That Her And Stark Had Something Going On...
When Stark Talks With Steve, He Tells Him That There's Nothing Going On Between Him And Peggy Before He Shows Steve Some New Shields Until Steve Finds A Prototype Made Out Of Vibranium...
(Imitating Black Panther) Wakanda Forever!
Which Will Work...
youtube
(End At 2:02)
Not Happy With What Is Going On With His Bases, Red Skull Tells Zola To Finish His Mission Before Captain America Does Or Else...
Attempting To Get Zola Back To His Headquarters As Quick As Possible, Zola Ends Up Boarding A Speed Train That Unfortunately Passes By Where Cap And His Crew Happen To Be...
Using A Zip Line, Cap, Bucky And The Other Howling Commandos Board The Train Only To Be Confronted By Hydra Soliders With Major Weaponry...
Major Weaponry That's Powerful Enough To Burst Open A Wall...
After Dealing With The Soldiers, Another One Enters And Blasts Bucky Out Of The Train Only To Leave Him Hanging By A Handle, Attempting To Save His Best Friend Steve Tries To Reach For Him But Unfortunately The Rail Breaks And Bucky Just Falls To His Death...
Tumblr media
But In Good News, They Capture Arnim Zola...
Phillips Interrogates Zola Who Doesn't Say A Damn Word Until Phillips Gives Him A Letter That Shows Him That The Red Skull Has Turned On Him And Believes Zola To Be A Liability Which Leads Zola To Spill His Guts On Red Skull's Plan...
Finding Steve In A Cafe That Him And His Friends Went To Before It Was Destroyed, Peggy Finds Steve Having A Few Drinks To Try To Dull The Pain Of Losing Bucky But Like The Flash, Due To His Powers He Can't Get Drunk...
But Peggy Tells Steve That It's Not His Fault And If He Believed And Respected Bucky Then He Should Honor His Decision. Understanding That, Steve Swears To Go To Go After Schmidt And Destroy Hydra...
youtube
Steve, Peggy And The Howling Commandos Fight Hydra's Soliders Off, But Eventually Steve Catches Up With Red Skull Only To See Him Take Off In His Massive Plane, But When Phillips And Peggy Commandeer Red Skull's Car, They Attempt To Catch Up With It...
(Captain America) You Remember The Little Red Button?
(Phillips) You Don't Have To Tell Me Twice!
(Pushes Little Red Button)
Catching Up With Red Skull's Ship, Steve Kisses Peggy Goodbye, Before Hopping On Board...
As Steve Sees Missiles Targeted For Every City On The Planet, More Soliders Appear To Fight Steve, With Him Defeating Every Single One Of Them, Before Facing Off Against Red Skull...
Tumblr media
youtube
(Start At 0:28)
With Peggy Contacting Steve On-Board The Plane, She Tries To Direct Him To A Site To Land But There's Not Enough Time And He Has No Choice But To Force The Ship Down...
Peggy Talks With Steve For As Long As Possible Till His Ship Crashes....
Tumblr media
We Get A Montage Of What Happened After The War Including A Scene Where Howard Stark Finds The Tesseract In The Ocean And Peggy Keeping A Picture Of Steve Before Cutting To The Future! As Steve Wakes Up Years Later In A Hospital (That Looks Like It's In The Past) By A Woman (Who Is Supposedly Sharon Carter Except Instead Of Emily Van Camp It's Amanda Righetti From The O.C.) Who Is There To Tell Steve What's Going On...
However, The Game Playing On The Radio, Is A Game Steve Went To Years Ago...
Tumblr media
youtube
(Start At 1:17)
After The Credits We Get A Sneak Peak Of The Avengers Before The Movie Ends...
And That's Captain America: The First Avenger And I Absolutely Love This Movie...
The 1940s Setting Is Fantastic, I Love The Story, I Love The Characters, I Love The Villain Despite Everyone Saying That He's Lame And Honestly I Have No Idea Why Hugo Weaving Did Not Want To Come Back For A Sequel As Red Skull Is Such A Good Character And A Great Villain In This Movie, I Love The Effects In The Movie With The Hydra Weaponry, The Costumes Are Great And It Is One Of My Favorite MCU Films And I Say See It...
Till Next Time, This Is Duke Saying That Next Week We're Tackling The Avengers!
