I think one of the objectively funniest (in a tragedy-irony-way) things about Crowley is that to us the audience we are so very aware that he is so in love it makes him the stupidest idiot on the planet but like if you see his behavior from Aziraphale’s perspective????
Crowley, doing his damnedest to protect Aziraphale without letting Aziraphale know + following behind him all the time (looking at you, Prepping for The Bookshop Ball arc!!!!) literally just means that Aziraphale is off in his own little world doing his own little tasks like playing matchmaker and detective and newspaperman, with literally 0 idea that Crowley is gagging for it every day of the week
(hence: “you’re being silly!” Instead of him being like “oh dang crowley’s actually bothered” like when Crowley “plays it cool” and us as the audience is like “oh he’s faking!” Aziraphale is not the audience and it kinda works on him!!! He‘s busy with his detective work he doesn’t have time to notice that Crowley is being weird when Crowley’s always vague and kinda weird by default to him!!!)
like that’s comedy babes I’m sorry it’s so funny to me
RIP Crowley unfortunately you must learn to tolerate the mortifying ordeal of being known even if that means aziraphale stops thinking you’re cool and mysterious

Alright, let's talk about this scene in S1 Ep3:
Tumblr media
Let's take this line by line, shall we? I added in some stage directions so we can see the acting choices alongside the dialogue (because this scene!!! this scene!! there is so much unsaid and communicated via body language).
*Crowley gets into his car and Aziraphale miracles inside*
C: *surprised*
C: What are you doing here?
A: I needed a word with you.
C: What?
A: I work in Soho. I hear things. I hear that you're setting up a...
A: *looks at Crowley*
A: caper. To rob a church.
C: *looks away from Aziraphale*
A: *concerned* Crowley, it's too dangerous. Holy Water won't just kill your body, it will destroy you completely.
C: *annoyed* You told me what you think. 105 years ago.
A: And I haven't changed my mind. But I can't have you risking your life. Not even for something dangerous. So... *pulls out thermos* you can call off the robbery.
C: *looking at Aziraphale, clearly surprised*
A: Don't go unscrewing the cap.
A: *not looking at Crowley anymore*
C: *looking between the thermos and Aziraphale* It's the real thing?
A: The holiest.
C: *attention fully on Aziraphale now* After everything you said?
A: *nods, still not looking at Crowley*
C: Should I say thank you?
C: *still looking at Aziraphale*
A: *pointedly NOT looking at Crowley*
A: Better not.
C: Well, can I drop you anywhere?
A: No. Thank you.
A: *briefly glancing at Crowley*
A: Don't look so disappointed.
A: *looking away again*
A: Perhaps one day we could, I don't know. Go for a picnic.
A: *looking at Crowley now*
A: Dine at the Ritz.
C: I'll give you a lift. Anywhere you want to go.
*silence, and the longest amount of time Aziraphale looks at Crowley this whole scene*
A: You go too fast for me, Crowley.
*both looking at each other for a beat before Aziraphale exits*
OKAY SO HOLY HECK
I feel like this scene gets boiled down to THAT line we all remember (and we'll get there), but I feel like the whole scene and the context is so so important if we want to understand THAT line.
So the background info:
1862 AD - London, St James Park: Crowley asks for holy water.
1941 AD - London: Aziraphale meets with Nazi agents inside a church. Crowley swoops in to save the day (and the books). We have the magic show and the lovely candelit dinner afterwards.
This scene takes place in 1967 in Soho, London presumably.
So, since 1862 when Crowley first asks, Aziraphale has been thinking about this request of his. Aziraphale presumes in 1862 that Crowley wants the Holy Water as a "suicide pill," and Crowley never corrects this assumption.
So, Aziraphale is under the impression that in 1967 he is giving Crowley a tool to use for his own destruction, if it comes to that.
He goes against Heaven and, from our understanding, steals Holy Water so he can give it to Crowley.
The implications of this are DEEP and COMPLEX. Because this is the FIRST time we see Aziraphale directly go against Heaven without any kind of moral out. He isn't saving Job's children. He's literally defying Heaven to protect Crowley from doing something stupid.
It's a purely selfish action that directly goes against Heaven.
This is HUGE for his character. And as I've talked about a bit in this post, I think by this point, Aziraphale was fully aware he was in love with Crowley.
This, THIS, is proof of his devotion to Crowley. Going against Heaven overtly to supply him with something he believes Crowley will use to end himself.
You can see Aziraphale's guilt and concern in this scene simply through how he choses when to look at Crowley and when to not (michael sheen, I'm in ur walls).
He looks at Crowley concerned when he talks about the church heist. He says as such. That he thinks it's too dangerous. He pointedly DOESN'T look at Crowley once he hands over the Holy Water. Like he can't bring himself to come to terms with what he's done. (Looking out for the person he loves by giving them a means of their own destruction.)
And this little interaction:
C: Should I say thank you? C: *looking at Aziraphale* A: *pointedly NOT looking at Crowley* A: Better not.
He doesn't want Crowley to thank him for what he perceives to be a sin. For giving him the ability to end himself. It hurts Aziraphale to think about. I think, even being in the car near Crowley hurts Aziraphale then.
Then we get the exchange at the end.
Crowley offering to drop Aziraphale off, which the angel denies.
Aziraphale clearly reading Crowley's disappointment and offering a fantasy of the future he doesn't believe they have in an attempt to cheer the demon up.
A: Perhaps one day we could, I don't know. Go for a picnic. A: *looking at Crowley now* A: Dine at the Ritz.
He looks at Crowley for the briefest of moments when he says "dine at the Ritz."
These things that Aziraphale is offering are normal, human pastimes. Nothing grand or overtly romantic. Just, a picnic. Dinner. It goes to show us how deeply Aziraphale loves humanity and recognizes that same love in Crowley (even if their love presents itself in different ways).
He's saying: one day, when I'm not me, and you're not you, we can do the things humans do. We can be simple.
And then, of course:
C: I'll give you a lift. Anywhere you want to go.
Crowley says this line almost desperately. He wants to stay in this moment. He wants to draw it out. This moment where this angel he's befriended cares for him so deeply that he'd risk everything.
I haven't talked much about Crowley in this scene because at this point in their relationship, and I know this is controversial, I don't think Crowley is in love with Aziraphale here.
I talked about it in the aforementioned post, but it's my interpretation of Crowley's character to be naturally distrusting of others. Which makes sense given his history.
I don't think he's in love with Aziraphale in 1967.
But I think he recognizes Aziraphale's love for him, even if only for the briefest moment. He sees Aziraphale's willingness to save Crowley from himself and knows that there is something there.
But he is SCARED. Big scared. And he doesn't know how to deal with the influx of information being presented to him.
And I think he reads between the lines of Aziraphale's words. He hears Aziraphale say: one day, when I'm not me, and you're not you...
I'll give you a lift. Anywhere you want to go. Is Crowley saying: You're saying we have to be different people, but we don't. I can take you right now to a picnic, to the Ritz. Nothing has to change. We can be us.
And Aziraphale says:
A: You go too fast for me, Crowley.
You go too fast for me, you treat life like a speedrun to get to the good parts. Hell, Crowley slept through the 19th century because he wanted time to move forward. Aziraphale recognizes this. He's in love with this demon who won't slow down and appreciate the mundane, human things that Aziraphale treasures. He goes too fast. He never settles down.
And I think this is a gross misunderstanding of Crowley's character on Aziraphale's part. He thinks Crowley is too fast and never settles down. Changes his hair, his clothes, his accent. But the clothes and the hair are all set dressings to Crowley. They are distractions from how set in his ways he truly is.
Crowley is s l o w to everything.
So slow that it scares the shit out of him and he overcompensates by re-inventing his image every chance he gets. He wants to blend in with his surroundings so he can be just like everybody else.
It's a deep self-hatred most likely instilled in him since before his Fall. He was not good enough for Heaven. He isn't bad enough for Hell. He can't even pass as a human because of his eyes. He doesn't fit anywhere.
So he could never fit with Aziraphale.
He doesn't even see it as an option.
Not yet, anyway.
Aziraphale misunderstands this as Crowley being unable to take time and care and put work into things that truly matter. Aziraphale thinks that they can't be together because they are too different. No matter how much he loves Crowley, Crowley is, and will always be, just a few steps ahead of him. He will always be just out of reach.
This scene is Aziraphale's confession and subsequent realization that they can never work.
This scene is Crowley understanding Aziraphale's feelings and his inability to process his own.
This scene is devastating. Because it's another miscommunication. It's a clear example of how these two understand each other, and, even after 6000 years, don't understand each other.

Crowley’s peaceful precious existence doesn’t exist.
He wants to protect his status quo because it’s more desirable than what he’s been dealing with in the past. But it’s not ideal. It’s not what he really wants ( he probably thinks he doesn’t deserve what he really wants).
A fundamental part of aziraphale and crowley’s disagreement is Crowley thinks what they have is good enough because it’s better than it was and aziraphale sees it can be better. Aziraphale is an idealist, which can get him to be too blind to a lot of things, but it also gives him the fortitude to stubborn his way through things when he thinks he knows the right way, even if he hurts himself in the process. (Insert Pokémon joke more clever person than I comes up with)
Tumblr media
You CANNOT tell me crowley enjoys living in his car. Hauling his plants around ( he’s not gonna dump them like SHE dumped him, even when he’s disappointed in them). Sleeping all cramped up. Having Shax and who knows what other demons just pop in when they want.
And speaking of shax- it seems like heaven has left aziraphale alone until Jim-gabe trundles up (with his box with his brains in a fly and the book of life he stole no I’m not letting go of that theory) but shax is up crowley’s ass. She’s in the Bentley, she’s calling him, they’re meeting up in places. Wow, so peaceful and relaxing, Crowley, amirite?
And he damn well isn’t going to take a rank-up in hell to give Beelzebub info about Gabriel no matter how weird they get about it.
He’s depressed, perhaps the immortal version of a midlife crisis (what’s the point, blah blah blah ) and yet you see all that life, all the bits of him he’s stuffed down because he thinks he doesn’t get to be that anymore escaping bit by bit. He’s gentle with Muriel, he’s conflicted with Gabriel to extremes almost, he’s giving space to humans, he’s indulgent to aziraphale’s whims until he realizes aziraphale has gone completely off into lala land (aziraphale’s version of dealing with his own trauma a whole other post).
And now this is my own conjecture, but he’s also having to deal with stuff from his past he’s been trying to box up, like rank and class and ability and purpose. I mean, it’s a bit embarrassing to think about stuff you’ve done years ago you might not do now. Angel!crowley is a bit single minded and vain. Angel!crowley was clearly high ranked and trusted with a lot of responsibility and power. Angel!crowley bids some lower angel over to be a freaking easel and blows-off that angels introduction in order to soak in the glory of his creation. Who knows what else he was like? All the other angels right now are very much aware of rank; Maybe he was too.
And maybe demon!crowley is wiser and more aware and is a bit embarrassed of what a pompous ass he was. But instead of forgiving himself, he’s just going to punish himself.
Traumatized people can sometimes step in and punish themselves when the outside source is absent. Crowley tells aziraphale he’s a demon, he lies, he’s a demon he’s not nice he’s a demon he’s evil - so aziraphale is repeating this to him even though it’s not what aziraphale believes. (And people get mad at aziraphale for it, but he’s doing what Crowley seems to want him to do because his own trauma dictates he try and please everyone) .
It can’t get any better for Crowley right now, in his mind. All of us vs all of them is looming but it’s not right now. (But it is) aziraphale and he can hang out in his shop and get food and just be right now(he just needs to make sure all these threads of threats against them are ignored) and yeah, crowley’s inconvenienced and uncomfortable but like he deserves that, it’s aziraphale’s comfort that’s important right now (never mind that if he actually said that sentence aloud he’d get the equivalent of a wtf-Crowley glare from aziraphale). Aziraphale has all these places and people and things and hobbies and so it’s nice he deigns to spend time with a demon (doesn’t even occur to him aziraphale thinks he’s the lucky one the amazing so-much-better-than-me Crowley picked).
Crowley has his hands covering his ears and is going lalalalalalalalalaICANTHEARYOU because even with all the bullshit going on, he’s mostly content. And he doesn’t dare think he could have or even deserve more happiness. He needs to accept all the love aziraphale wants to give him. Accept that he still is a bit of ‘that angel’ inside instead of shoving it down into a box with a weak lock, accept others out there actually do care about him. Accept it’s okay for him to care for things.
And ultimately, he has to accept he cannot keep running from the rotten core of heaven and hell and face it and root it out in order to really have his peaceful existence. And he’s going to have to make peace wnd find acceptances with his present and past selves to do so. I cannot wait for his journey.

Hi! Do you have any fic that focus on crowley' ability to stop time?
Hello. Here are some fics about Crowley stopping time...
Thanks and Praise by AetherBunny (G)
“Crowley, I’ve been thinking about when you stopped time. I think I have an answer. I don’t know if it’s a good answer or a bad answer but I think we can figure that out together.”
My take on how Crowley was able to stop time at the airfield. This was going to be meta on my tumblr, but I decided to make it a fic instead.
The tags make it sound sadder and more serious than it is? Notes at the end with more info!
Two Minutes by mikkimouse (T)
"How long can you stop it?"
"Two minutes?" Crowley said after a moment of consideration. "Maybe three. Could do longer, but I'm a bit worn out. And too much longer might be noticed."
Aziraphale nodded. So they'd have two minutes to make their switch, two minutes where Heaven and Hell wouldn't be able to see that they were doing.
---
After Armagedidn't, Crowley freezes time so they can make the swap, but Aziraphale has a confession to make before they do.
Love Just Won’t Stand Still by SeedsOfWinter (T)
1793 - Crowley takes a moment for himself and never gives it back.
It doesn’t surprise him to see his old friend: when Crowley is up to no good, Aziraphale soon comes tumbling after.
Stop for Just a Moment by satiricalScythe (G)
Soon, he would wake up. He would wake up, and then this would be over.
Crowley didn't want it to be over.
He gritted his teeth and flicked his wrist. The ticking of the clock stopped. The sound of the world outside stopped.
The soft beat of a warm heart and the gentle breaths of his angel stopped.
It felt so lonely.
-
Or, Crowley doesn't want his time with Aziraphale to end, so he decides to stop it for a while. Inspired by art linked in the chapter's notes and a conversation in a group chat with fuchsiaring.
Eleventh-Hour Arrangements by SparkKeyper (T)
Set in 1984. Heaven’s negligence leaves Aziraphale with a near-impossible deadline for submitting his annual report. Crowley steps in to help and together they hurry to meet the deadline and protect the Arrangement.
I’m Not Over You, Can I Get Back Under? by MovesLikeBucky (E)
The trouble started right there in Berkeley Square.  Right after they decided to go to lunch. Aziraphale had taken his hand as they walked to the Ritz and time had just stopped.  And not in the overwrought, waxing poetic kind of way either. No, time had literally stopped.
Everything but Crowley had stopped.  Birds hovered in the air, the wind stayed in place, the whole nine.  Even Aziraphale had been frozen in place, smile beaming on his face mid-turn towards Crowley.
It had taken a fair bit of effort to start it back up again; then they continued on like nothing happened.  Aziraphale was smiling and talking animatedly with no idea of what had transpired, and their fingers stayed intertwined all the way to the restaurant.  It was nice, this affection thing.  He thought he might be able to get used to it.

Maybe Stay Home This Time
Commission for the ever-lovely @likearumchocolatesouffle !!! Good Omens this time. I hope you like it, luv! <3 Commission info is here [X]
~
“Angel, I just want to sleep,” Crowley groaned.
Aziraphale huffed and readjusted the “web camera” Anathema had forced on him last year. It kept trying to fall over. “I know you do, but we have to discuss what to do,” Aziraphale insisted. “How are we going to fix this?”
“There is no way we can fix this ourselves,” Crowley grumped. “Pestilence is out for a spin. Individual demons and angels can’t stop him. We can’t even protect the Isles.”
“Hmph.” Aziraphale gave up fussing and just let the camera fall on its side. “People are dying, though.”
“Yes, that usually happens when Pestilence hits hard.” Crowley rubbed his face with one hand; his other was holding the mobile through which he was communicating. He was apparently sleeping on the ceiling, which meant he was upside down on Aziraphale’s computer screen. “We can probably help with London, but it’s just going to keep coming back in.”
Aziraphale sighed. He’d known it would be a long shot, trying to save the world again, but he really did want to try. He would’ve asked Adam, but the boy was barely twelve; it wasn’t right to ask him if he had any demonic heritage left in him, let alone enough to banish Pestilence. “Fine. So we can’t do much ourselves. What can we do?”
“Follow the rules, I guess,” Crowley replied reluctantly. “Even if we can’t save the world, we can help not spread anything.”
“Oh, very well.” Aziraphale tugged his waistcoat straight irritably. He’s already been cooped up for months; it was beginning to feel like he was losing his strict control. What he wouldn’t give for a walk in the park and a fine dinner after… “I will contact you again tomorrow.”
Crowley groaned.
“Don’t take that tone with me!” Aziraphale snapped. “You can sleep in between. I’m... lonely, he wanted to say, but he still couldn’t bring himself to. He missed Crowley’s presence. But this was enough, just hearing his voice, seeing him on screen. Aziraphale just needed a bit of grounding.
“Fine,” the demon replied, but not as angrily. He had his knowing-look on, the look that meant he could see through Aziraphale’s bluster. It was very annoying. “When will you call?”
“I don’t know. After noon.”
“Good. I can get plenty of sleep in before then.”
~
Aziraphale called Crowley at noon on the dot, and rambled to him about his newest books, desperate to speak to someone. Crowley told him all about the rules that had been laid down, which explained several things about Aziraphale’s favorite restaurants being closed, and agreed to another call the next day. He seemed lonely, too. Well, as long as they could speak to each other, they would survive.
It was two days later, when Aziraphale was having a nap of his own, that he had a nightmare.
He couldn’t really tell what was happening, except that Gabriel was laughing and there was the sound of enormous flies buzzing and the smell of brimstone and Crowley screaming—and then Aziraphale woke up, and threw himself upright, shaking and gasping. Without thinking, he grabbed the telephone by his bed and barely managed to dial Crowley. But because he needed and expected to speak to his demon, that’s who was dialed.
The moment Crowley said, “It’s fucking midnight, angel, what—” Aziraphale began to babble over top of him, telling him about his nightmare, about how he was sorry, about how he would never let that happen, about how he would destroy anyone who hurt Crowley. It took a long time for him to get his torrent of words under control, and he wished desperately that he could cry. But angels don’t have tears. So he hiccuped and hugged himself and trailed off, high-strung and still so very upset.
“That won’t happen,” Crowley said firmly. “You don’t have to worry about that happening. You won’t have to do any destroying or smiting or whatever. We’re safe, alright? Haven’t heard a peep from either side. We’re safe.”
Aziraphale squeezed his eyes shut, but his chest was easing and he could breathe again. “Yes. Yes. Alright. We’re safe.”
“That’s right. Go make yourself some tea. We’ll talk more later.”
So Aziraphale did.
~
Three days later, Crowley called Aziraphale in a panic, and asked him sharp questions—“Anyone suspicious in your area? Have you smelled sulfur anywhere? Your books are safe? Shop not burned down? Are you safe?”—until admitting that, well, he’d had a nightmare too. Aziraphale soothed him as best he could, and promised everything was alright, and Crowley calmed, mostly.
He still called periodically for the next week, just to check. Aziraphale didn’t mind. If it helped Crowley cope, that was all he needed to know.
Some restrictions were, cautiously, lifted. Aziraphale didn’t feel right swanning through the streets though, not even with a mask, so he didn’t go out. Crowley went to the park and fed the ducks, and called Aziraphale to let him know that the park was still flourishing, even without Crowley’s threats. The ducks had almost mobbed him, trying to get at the mixed seeds he had brought; of course, no one feeding them for quite a while, they were hungry. Aziraphale still snickered as Crowley complained.
There was always something to talk about, since there was now nothing to do but read and learn about the world. Aziraphale was outraged at the people who were labeling the plague as “no big deal”; Crowley just reminded him wearily that sometimes, humans didn’t need demons to be evil. Look at Caligula. They would learn.
Except they didn’t learn, so the two beings turned resolutely away from the plague. There were other, just as important things to talk about.
Anathema called Aziraphale to tell him that Newt was sick. Not covid, thank God, just a summer cold, but she was worried. Aziraphale considered, then asked her carefully, “Can you ask him if he would be willing to be on the receiving end of a miracle?”
“You’d do that for him?” Anathema asked eagerly, and Aziraphale smiled, knowing that that was exactly what she’d wanted. “Yes, I’ll go ask him right now!”
A quick miracle, putting together a basket of baked goods and jams and sending that by miracle to them as well, and Anathema called again to say happily that Newt was better already and they were grateful, and also he’d sent them enough jam over the past year, they didn’t need more.
“But jam is useful!” Aziraphale protested.
Anathema chuckled. “Yeah, but we’re just two humans, and we can’t give any of it away to the kids. Relax with the jam. Newt likes digestive biscuits, for some reason.”
“What do you like?” Aziraphale asked, curious.
A startled pause. Then she cleared her throat and said, “I really have no preference. I don’t really like sweet baked goods, anyway.”
“Are you sure?” he pressed, sensing there was more to this moment than just reluctance to accept a gift.
“Yes, I’m sure,” she snapped, then sighed. “Sorry. Just… I don’t know.”
Aziraphale hummed in understanding, and said gently, “Let me know if you find something. In the meantime, it’s almost time for my call with Crowley.”
Anathema laughed for real. “Yes, go call your boyfriend. It’s fine.”
“He is not my boyfriend!”
“Whatever you say, Mr. Fell.”
~
It was almost August, and Aziraphale was going to explode if he didn’t leave home, so he arranged with Crowley to meet at the park.
It was a lovely day, and many people weren’t wearing masks. Aziraphale thought this rather short-sighted, and kept his on firmly, even though it made his nose itch. He tried to keep his distance, but the pavement was already too small for that.
The park was nearly empty, though, and he settled at the far end of the bench, as far as possible. After only ten minutes, Crowley sauntered down the path and sat at the other end, again slumping as if his spine was a limp noodle. It wasn’t six feet, but surely it was good enough.
“Well?” Crowley asked.
“Well, what?” Aziraphale retorted.
“Is this nice? Do you feel better?”
Sighing, the angel nodded. “I missed fresh air,” he said softly.
“Me, too,” Crowley replied.
They sat in silence, watching the ducks. It was more calming than Aziraphale had expected. Maybe he really did just need to open his windows more.
So that’s what he did. He opened his windows every day for three hours exactly, and “video-called” Crowley every other day on a set schedule, and learned how to close his eyes, listen to music, and just be. It wasn’t saving the world, and it wasn’t eradicating evil; but it was taking care of himself, so he didn’t fret himself into a breakdown, and making sure he did his part. That was important too, right?

“The demon previously known as Aziraphale tends to display discernment of strangers and can become fiercely protective of their friends loved ones fellow traitors. The heavenly standards, however, consider that demon’s too aggressive and yet too timid behaviour to be unacceptable. For that reason, some angels have attributed a cat-like personality to Aziraphale the traitor.
The demon previously known as Aziraphale is not excessively active, meaning that they could’ve been assigned a stationary task. However, the traitor required daily exercise to prevent gluttony. Upon realizing that exercise is a daily occurrence, the traitor would’ve been more assertive with their higher ups in anticipation of such activities.
The demon previously known as Aziraphale had many strong loyal bonds with fellow angels, but they were overly protective of one angel. It is the traitor’s nature to be quiet and well-behaved, but they are also resistant to training. The traitor became very stubborn and attached to a certain individual as they aged. More efficient training would’ve been crucial and allowed the traitor to gain respect for those who cared for them.”
HELLO IT IS TIME FOR THAT REVERSED AU CONTENT
A long time ago i made some designs for reversed au and fairly recently i remade them with @mehrto‘s help. Some more info as taken from my very messy reverse au doc: Ezra (chosen name)/Zirah (demon name)/Aziraphale (angel name) - giant Chow Chow/Original Good Boy/My demon pup! (as happily exclaimed by Crowley)
Crowley (chosen name)/Crawly (a name other angels use to taunt him)/Crawiel (angel name) - flying snake (Chrysopelea)/Original Serpent/Starmaker (by Aziraphale, affectionately)
Crowley fucking around in the garden, made the apple fall, Aziraphale saw it, grabbed it, brought it to Eve. (“It was just a cockup, really” in Crowley’s words)
Aziraphale is not really a Chow Chow since he was around since before they were named but he probably had a hand in creating/naming them or smth
Aziraphale retains his clothing when changing form - leads to shenanigans
Aziraphale has eyes that are all-black/deep brown (dog eyes) and a blue tongue
Aziraphale can turn his eyes to human eyes? But he doesn’t like doing it much
Aziraphale runs cold while in his human form (hence the layers of clothes)
Aziraphale DESERVES ALL THE PETS AND TREATS HE IS THE BESTEST BOY (Crowley ghostwrote this sentence)
Crowley is warm while in human form (God’s love all that) hence the light clothes
Other angels find Crowley’s snake form offputting
Crowley slithered around the sky while he created stars
Crowley was in the garden to inspect on the creation, help with the plants etc; not to guard the wall (he’s a creator, not a fighter. While the war was happening, he was off in the sky and wasn’t involved)
Crowley has a flower shop/plant nursery/smth of the sort. He gives the plants away for free (to the “good” people anyway). Aziraphale jokingly calls the shop Garden of Eden
Crowley’s fancy clothes somehow never get dirty even when he’s working in the dirt (it’s MAGIC) - but also he has some loose work clothes that he wears when no one will see him  (like overalls and tshirts and such. He also ties his hair up loosely and it all falls out of his bun anyway and he walks around the shop barefoot - basically he’s a cute mess whenever he thinks he’s alone. He also hums to himself)

Okay okay I need to talk about the whole Crowley taking credit for the Spanish Inquisition in the show thing. I've seen people acting like it's a major change but it's not really? Crowley as a character has always been about reading between the lines. He's basically always underselling how he feels, trying to fake apathy to protect himself.
For example, in the book he references the 14th century about four times and the first time he call it the most boring century but then immediately after he calls Hastur and Ligur real 14th century minds and by the end of the book when he's driving his on fire Bentley to Tadfield and the shear effort of it is making him feel like absolute shit, he says "he hadn't felt this bad since the 14th century." And what happened in the 14th century? Oh just so much horrible suffering and death like a great famine that killed millions, the black death killing a third of the population of Europe and thousands of Jews getting massacred in Anti Jewish pogroms in Spain and Portugal. So yeah, taking what Crowley says at face value is generally not a good idea. (An aside but show!Crowley also references the 14th century in the scene with Hastur in the Bentley, mentioning that he hated it and Hastur would have loved it so show! Crowley clearly agrees with book!Crowley on this note.)
Anyway, let's say Crowley took credit for the Spanish Inquisition (Aziraphale is the one who mentions it but Crowley agrees so it is probable that he did), that doesn't mean he wasn't horrified by it? In fact, they have an entire sequence in episode 3 of him being upset by the cruelty of God and humans such as at the Noah's Arc, the crusafiction and the French Revolution. Do you really think the character we saw in the beginning of episode 3 wouldn't have been absolutely horrified by the Spanish Inquisition? And even without the info from the book, do you think that the show isn't expecting viewers to take the knowledge they learned about Crowley in that sequence and apply it to things he's already said and will say? He overall doesn't talk particularly openly about how he feels so there is no reason to think he was cool with it just because he didn't say he wasn't. And what are the chances he told Aziraphale (the one who brought it up) how upset he was, how drunk he got back then? Pretty unlikely. Honestly it makes perfect sense for him to take credit for such a horrible atrocity no matter how much it upset him because it gets him out of doing work and having to hurt humans any more then they are hurting each other. (additional note: Book!Crowley mentions writing reports about the Spanish Inquisition so he clearly followed up on the thing he got credit for all the same, even if he didn't initially take the credit.)
Like when I first watched the show, I was truely really worried for like the first two episodes that they were making him more evil, less soft due to cutting some of his early softer moments. But then when I hit episode 3, I knew why they'd cut them: you don't need to do that subtle stuff when you have a half an hour dedicated to how much he despises cruelty and loves Aziraphale (Also it's probably a pacing thing, kinda hiding the true depths of Crowley's goodness until the beginning of episode three?). I'm even pretty sure they used the French Revolution scene to have him discuss some of his Spanish Inquisition thoughts (as openly as he'd say them out loud at least) but in a way that let them keep building his relationship with Aziraphale.
The show is a visual medium, the natures of the characters have to come across through dialogue and body language and almost no internal narration (which the book leans on heavily) so some stuff had to be a bit different in some ways but I feel like more stuff is similar or in the same spirit as the book then some people are giving the show credit for really. Crowley is still a very soft demon who is troubled by the horrible things of the world in the show, don't worry so much.

A new Headcanon and meaning of names in Good Omens
New Morning, new Headcanon. And also some research of the name Ashtoreth later and what that has to do with Madame Tracy.
So for some days I’m trying to write a fanfiction about the time Crowley and Aziraphale raise Warlock. I came to the point of asking myself, what first name would Crowley choose for his nanny persona.
I came up with Lilith.
Let me explain:
From what I have read up so far, Lilith was the first woman created from the same clay as Adam. Because of this she thought she was equal to him and refused then to lay under Adam while he also refused to be in a bottom position. She disobeyed him and muttered the ineffable name of god and was therefore able to fly out of the Garden of Eden.
Three angels were sent out to retrieve her, but she refused to come back again and again. In the end Lilith accepted that every day 100 of her children would die, while she swore to not kill children (= all offspring of Adam and Eve and later generations) that would be protected by an amulet with the names of the angels engraved. She is associated with the death of babies by sickness or strangling them during night, since she holds power over boys until they are 8 days old and over girls until they are 12 days old.
That is what most of what I have read agrees on. But I also found websites that say, that Lilith had demonic offspring with Adam, or an Archangel or even with numerous other demons at the red sea where the angels found here. Therefore she can also be seen as the mother of demons. Some texts seem to portray her also as a demon that comes in the night to tempt single men into sin and stealing their life energy (like a succubus), sometimes also as drinking their blood (like vampires).
And here comes another interesting part: Sometimes she is portrayed as the serpent that tempted Eve to eat the apple. And on a side note: Many depictions I have found of her, portray her with red hair.
As for my headcanon, I think in Good Omens that Lilith didn’t exist, but both Crowley and Aziraphale are aware of the texts and legends around her. So he likes the link to him as serpent and the implication of Lilith being the mother of demons as well, since he is going to raise the Antichrist.
What About the name Ashtoreth?
I was curious, if the name Crowley chose himself for his persona had any meaning and surprise, it has: But here it get’s complicated and there is a lot of:
Ashtoreth was also called  Astoret / Asherah / Astarte (and many, many more) by different cultures, ect. but others say those could be different entities similar to Ashtoreth. So sorry, if I mess some things up here.
But it appears that Ashtoreth was a goddess of war but also of love, or at least sexual love. I quote: “ Asherah was also identified as the moon goddess who belonged to the family of gods associated with Baal the sun god (Judges 3:7; 6:28) Worship to her included sexual immorality, prostitution, divination, and fortune telling”. Another website adds sensual and ritual prostitution as part of worshiping her. I also found that sometimes she was called the Queen of Heaven and became a demon of lust.
So alone that Crowley chose Ashtoreth as his Nanny name tells us something about his preference to call himself...
An interesting link to Madame Tracy
At the end I stumbled upon something that made me raise an eyebrow: “Queen Jezebel also worshiped Asherah and supported 400 Asherah prophets (1 Kings 18:19)” We know, that Madame Tracy’s is called Jezebel by Mr Shadwell in the second episode and last episode where she corrects him that she is now “retired Jezebel”. So maybe that was kind of her ‘artist’ or ‘medium’ name. Or maybe the name she would go by for he appointments on Thursdays for “intimate personal relaxation and stress relief for the discerning gentlemen.”
It appears that Queen Jezebel who also worshiped Baal, is described in the bible as a murderer and enemy of god, since she ordered the killing of god’s prophets. But also as a prostitute and some interpret the circumstances of her death, when she knew someone was coming to kill her, that she made her hair and put make-up on that she might have tried to seduce her killer. Some say she was the worst woman of all the bad ones in the bible.
So yeah. I really didn’t thought it would take me more than 2 hours to write this post. I originally started only with my headcanon, but then I also researched some more and surprised myself with what I found. But if you want to know more details I encourage you, to do your own researches. Those are complex texts/legends and can vary very much depending where you read. And I tried to break them down to the ‘interesting’ aspects that could be linked to Good Omens.
If you have more info, please feel free to share. I want to read it!

In a way, yes. However, it's more similar to a prompt than a set description. The writer will take the information that is given and use their own creativity to expand on it.
To further break down the process, each artist will be asked to fill out certain aspects about their card. Some artists will be detailed, while others will provide less - and that is okay! So here is how I personally would start:
Information given by artist-
Characters on card: Aziraphale, Adam (Eden), War
Rough card concept: Split into half, top and bottom. Top has Aziraphale giving his sword to Adam; bottom has War brandishing the sword at Aziraphale.
Keywords: Good intentions, unexpected results, the road to hell is paved with good intentions, be careful, make the best of it, spontaneity may backfire
Related to: How Aziraphale gave humanity the sword as a means to protect itself and it became a weapon of War.
No other info.
So. We know the characters we can reference are Aziraphale, the original Adam, and War. We can also use God, Eve, Crowley, and, potentially, Pepper, in the description since they’re important figures that come into contact with the flaming sword. We know what the artist envisions the card to look like, though this may change. Since I tend to try to incorporate whatever the image of the card depicts into my descriptions, I’ll reference this and likely keep in close contact with the artist to ensure I know of any changes. *Note that not everyone writes this way and is not required to reference the image itself as long as the description fits and is clear.*
The keywords give me a jumping off point as to what the lessons are behind this card. It’s my choice whether I choose to use them verbatim or vary, as long as the base meaning is the same. Personally, I tend to see where the writing takes me and go from there.
The related to and other info sections are just to give the writer more background. This one is related to Aziraphale’s choice and its effect on humanity. The artist chose to give no other additional information. (An example that might be found in that section is: what card it relates to in a traditional tarot deck.)
Please do not take the following and use it in your application. If your own description hits the same themes, that’s fine, but basing it off mine does not give a good impression of your own abilities.
Now, I’m not going to write out a full description for this, but I’m going to start, simply to give an idea. This card is split into top and bottom, one part in the past and one in the present. To me, it makes sense to have the description parallel this to start out with:
As the Angel of the Eastern Gate, it was Aziraphale’s duty to stand guard over the Garden of Eden. The forces of Heaven and Hell were both aware of the Principality with the flaming sword who wandered the battlement, always watchful of any unwelcome visitors. Imagine Crawly’s surprise when he approached this being - one who could very well strike him down without a second thought - and found out that he gave his sword away to Adam to protect himself and Eve when they were cast out?
This isn’t likely how the final would read, but it’s a good rough draft to begin with. I’d segway into Aziraphale’s shock when coming face-to-face with the weapon he hasn’t seen in 6000 years in the hands of War, a creation of humanity. It’s nothing short of a slap in the face to find out that your good intentions of old ended up creating something potentially worse than what would have happened had you never been involved.
Then it’s a matter of explaining how it could pertain to the reader.
The adage ‘the road to hell is paved with good intentions’ is famous for a reason. It’s impossible to know how our actions will be received, whether or not they’re positive at the time. For this reason, it’s important to be careful and think through all avenues prior to making a move; spontaneity, especially if uninformed, can lead to consequences far worse than had you never chosen to intervene. You’re capable of great kindness and helping others in a positive, uplifting way. Be careful that you don’t inadvertently hand someone the weapon they can turn into War.
So yes, the meaning of the card is created by the artist. But the card writers have plenty of freedom to expand and create based on that, and sometimes it’s going to be a challenging role. This flexes a different set of muscles than writing a fic and requires a mindset that’s less story-telling, more informational.
Please let me know if there is still any uncertainty. I am the one who came up with this position, and will happily explain as much as needed.
