#and he uses mystic ruins time to base the rest of the world off

sonic can alway tell about what time it is in the mystic ruins. he doesn't really do the whole time thing, he doesn't have a consistent sleeping schedule because his circadian rhythm is permanently fucked due to him constantly travelling all around globe. time zones mean nothing to him now. but he can always estimate when abouts in the day mystic ruins is in. he will get a text from tails, and depsite it being midday for sonic, he'll immediately go "hey. isnt it like. 3am there. what are you doing up." and tails will grumble about it's not THAT late, it's only 2am. sonic's internal mystic ruins clock does not take daylight savings into account

I think I reached the 10th chapter a few chapters ago, but I'm too lazy to do anything.
It was a cloudy day. The forest was in full bloom, as everyday, and there were a few birds singing from the highest branches of the trees. The sun was high in the sky, slowly moving near to the zenith, and its rays, slightly dimmed by the clouds, gave a more mystical touch to that peaceful world. The moment Muffet appeared in that place, not a single animal bothered to run away. They knew she wasn't an evil soul. Fresh, instead, made a few squirrels and a robin feel uneasy, knowing how unpredictable he was. "Who are we searching for?" the spider asked, not fully aware of how many ears were carefully listening to her voice. The skeleton laid his back on a tree and stuffed his hands in the pockets of his jacket, then explained: "no need to worry 'bout that, kiddo. She probably will notice our presence very soon. Just think about choosing your words carefully when you'll speak to her". Muffet wasn't sure of what he meant, but his look told her that he wasn't intending to explain much else.
She sat on the base of another tree, moving her gaze to the surroundings. That majestic forest gave off such a pleasant feeling of peace, something she felt only when she was still a very young monster. It was when all the monsters of her timeline lived in the ruins, almost a century ago. She never thought much about that period of her life. It lasted just eight years for her, but they felt the best years of her life. Then, the Dreemurr family decided it was time to move, discovering the rest of the Underground. She remembered living in a small house in the middle of Home. There was a garden nearby, or maybe it was a park. In both cases, she remembered sitting next to a tree like the ones that surrounded her now, and playing simple games with her siblings and other children. Sometimes there was a bunny with a cute blue basque, sometimes a Temmie, sometimes a small group of ghosts. After some time her mother called her inside, usually to eat dinner or lunch if it was afternoon. Back then, there was no hurry. No clients to run behind, or clans to discuss with, or humans to hunt down. The world was small and simple, and she liked that.
After moving to Hotland her world got bigger, and while her sibling found it exciting… She found it scary. It was all new, and inside of the new city they went living in she knew no one but her family. Her old home was small and beautiful, why did they change it? The eight year old Muffet didn't find a good reason for that. Back then, she didn't know that thing called "need of freedom". She always remained next to her mother, the only thing that remained the same, behind the counter of the newly opened bakery. She lost contact with her friends and her siblings went their own ways. She ended up slowly slipping into the adults' world, and in a pretty short time she learned a lot about economy and politics while baking muffins and croissants. She became first her mother's assistant and then, when she became older, the head of her clan. She was always doing something, and her "free time" was time she spent with her head filled with thoughts. "I later have to do this", "tomorrow there is a meeting with them", "I need to go and discuss that". After a few years she got used to that rhythm of life and stopped feeling uneasy with everything. She even had been able to get a pet.
And then, her mother died.
It happened suddenly, almost thirty years after they moved. That day an unexpected earthquake hit the whole Underground. A royal guard brought her a letter that said that her mother's dust had been found under some debris in the bridge between Hotland and Waterfall. Muffet remembered that day as the worst day of her life. If it hadn't been for her siblings, she would have probably fell down. She remembered closing herself in her room and not getting out for days. Her mother had been her only safe spot, her reality, since she was born. Losing her made her feel completely lost. It took her almost three months for her to recover, and after that she completely changed her way to approach life. Having this feeling of instability, of constant mutations around her even when the world wasn't moving, made her develop a more distant personality, with lots of boundaries and cold stares. She felt as if the moment she would get attached to something or someone, she would have lost it. With the time that distance got sweetened, mostly thanks to the frequent reunions between clans and the customers that didn't like to buy stuff from a walking statue. The routine that she learned to live with in the past felt more stressing than before, and she coped with that stress through poisonous irony that became part of her personality. She focused completely on her work to avoid having moments to think about her past. And finally, somehow, her life again found some sort of stability. A stability that lasted more than fifty years. But of course, nothing lasts forever. So one day, while working in the bakery, she literally blinked her eyes and found herself in a white, immense void.
Muffet leaned her head on her knees while looking at a curious mouse walking nearby. That day she remembered being so tense, she couldn't afford annoying people. Like Maddy back then. Man, the random threat she told her was so stupid and violent... and she never apologized! Sure, Maddy was about to call her bad stuff, but now that she knew the cat, she could tell she were trying to cope with her slight sort of anxiety. Yeah, after all that mess she would have apologized.
A new noise, or better say a new silence, snapped her back to the present. That place made her think so much... She noticed how every creature around them was now silent, as if to show respect to someone. Fresh (Muffet almost forgot he was there) smiled widely and got up. "There she is. Remember: don't say dumb things. She knows when you're lying" he said to the spider. She got up as well and finally, the mysterious person appeared. She was a tall goat lady, slightly taller than the original Toriel and with bigger horns. She wore the traditional long violet dress that the character usually wears, but the upper triangle of the Delta Rune was substituted by a Determination soul and the circle by a monster soul. On her hands there were a Kindness and a Perseverance soul, on her shoulders the Bravery and the Integrity ones. On her two long ears there were the Patience and the Justice souls. The black marks on her cheeks and the vertical line on her forehead were a classic sign of a monster (mainly a Dreemurr) who absorbed all the seven human souls. Knowing the character's attitude, she probably got forced or did it in a life-or-death situation. Toriel would have never absorbed the human souls. The goat gave off a feeling of something ancient, with a great wisdom. She walked close to the other two monsters, making her way through the trees, greeted them with a patient smile, turned to Muffet and asked: "Good afternoon young soul. How was your traveling? I hope that Fresh here didn't drag you around the worlds". The skeleton raised a brow as his glasses switched to "C'MON!". "Aw, seriously? Ya know I would never do that!" he said when the lady gave him a look of ironical disapproval. She then turned again to Muffet and said: "I am Raehel, caretaker of this forest. Please, dear, follow me. We'll talk at my house". The lady then guided her and Fresh through the deep forest. She seemed to already know why the two of them were there, and treated the spider like a welcomed guest. Fresh, by the other hand, seemed almost quiet. Was it respect, fear or simple lack of topics to talk about?
In a short while, the three monsters reached a small, cozy house. Raehel's house was exactly identical to the house Toriel has in Undertale, with the only difference being the stairs that usually brought the human to the rest of the Underground that were missing, and the frame on top of the fireplace in the living room which had a photo of seven human children smiling with a grumpy flower, apparently pretending to be pissed off. That same flower, now inside of a big pot near the bookshelf of the living room, huffed annoyedly the moment he saw the two guests coming in. "Oh for God's sake, you really brought HIM here? Out of every iCE CREAM CONE in this cursed world, that fUNKING weirdo?" he exclaimed. The goat lady gave him a stern look and declared: "Asriel Dreemurr, I never taught you to speak in such a rude way. Moderate your language if you don't want to end up grounded". The flower rolled his eyes and took a book from the bookshelf, then started reading it while mumbling something about not being a baby anymore. Raehel turned again to the two other monsters and apologized for Asriel's rudeness, then suggested they sit down. Fresh immediately took a seat and started: “sooo… my buddy here needed a hand finding a guy, and I'm having hard times finding them myself. Can ya help her?”. The goat lady sat next to Muffet, her quiet smile slightly fading. “As I thought. You never bring people here without a reason. Who’s the person you’re searching for, young one?”. For some unknown reason, the spider felt a bit intimidated by her. Maybe it was her calmness combined with her strong power. The few powerful but calm creatures she met were also uncontrollable beasts once they lost their cool… “uh, they’re a human. A gray adult human called Sam. they’re kind of a chilled guy, with short hair and small eyes, sometimes they have some sort of floating keyboard, and… Sorry, I seriously don’t have much else to say. They don't have many recognizable traits…” she explained.
Despite what Muffet thought, Raehel seemed to have a clear idea of who this person was, as her expression got more and more serious. She looked at the skeleton for a moment, then turned to the spider once again. “My dear… and why do you want to meet them?” the goat lady asked, her tone of voice being more dry. Muffet finally understood what Fresh meant when he said to be careful with words. The lady clearly knew Sam, and didn’t have a good opinion on them. This didn’t discourage her though. She knew what she wanted. “I know they might not be a wonderful person, but I need to speak with them. I have to clear out a few things, and I want to make sure they won’t bother my friends anymore” Muffet explained. It wasn't the full truth, but it wasn't a lie either. Raehel observed her with that careful look of hers, the one of someone who saw millions of faces and can read all of them like mere books. The spider felt her gaze on her in the same way she would feel a dagger in her chest. After what seemed an eternity, the old lady closed her eyes and huffed, while some sort of dreadful feeling climbed on the spider's shoulders. "You spoke with their father figure, didn't you?" she started. She opened her eyes again as a small wrinkle of worry appeared on her forehead. Her gaze now fell on Asriel, who clearly wasn't reading the book he was holding in front of his eyes. "Yes, it is obvious. You got used by that horrible being as a tool for destruction, and the old man is again trying to do something. But the Void twisted his mind, and shattered it. Part of him wants to save the human from their own destiny, and part wants to see them dead. You met only his good side, and that one is sadly the one that sees the least". Raehel then looked at Muffet again with a mix of severity and concern. "You got sent to a suicidal mission by a person who's blinded by his own feelings and by himself. You left your friends alone to pursue a cause that isn't even yours, and that you embraced only because of your kind heart and tired mind. It is not my duty to stop you, but… please, young soul, reflect. Reflect on your actions and on what makes you do this".
Muffet was… confused. Aside from the fact that this lady apparently understood everything that led the spider there by simply looking at her in the eyes. A few minutes before she was sure of what she was doing. Now she noticed how much impulsively she acted. She was searching for a solution, the Smiling Man put an idea in front of her, and she held onto it as hard as she could. Why the hell did she act like that? It wasn't like her. She would have thought more and made a wiser decision. This didn't mean she was about to turn around and go home. She still wanted to speak with Sam, at least to make sure they wouldn't bother anyone anymore, but there wasn't anymore that feeling that made her go ahead, that will to finish what she started no matter what. And if it was there, it was nothing confronted to what was before.
A voice from behind her spoke. It was the flower. "Sounds like you lost your confidence, huh? Do you need a new good reason to go ahead?" he said. Muffet looked at him and understood he wanted something. You could read on his face the superiority he felt, as if he had something no one else had and that everyone was craving for. "Speak up then, Asriel. What are you suggesting?" the spider questioned him. He glared at her and huffed. "first thing: I'm Flowey. only mom can call me that. and my siblings. no one else. second: you bring me with you to that mothe- I mean, that annoying human" he corrected himself when he met Raehel's severe stare. Muffet remained a bit perplexed by his words, so she asked: "why would you want to come?". Flowey broke eye contact and furrowed his nonexistent brows. "I got my reasons, duh! I wanna kick them in the face. make this be enough for you!" he exclaimed. She turned to the goat lady once again, trying to understand something from her look. The woman was still concerned, but now it was also for the flower. Something must have happened between this family and Sam, and it surely wasn't something positive... Raehel and Flowey looked at each other for a few seconds, their looks talking more than words. Then, the old lady closed her eyes and sighed. "Alright, you can go. But only if our guest is ok with it" she finally declared. She then laid her gaze on Muffet, waiting for an opinion. The spider looked at the flower, then at Fresh (who was still there listening to everything), then again at Raehel. "I don't think it's a problem as long as it's just him" she confirmed. Flowey smiled widely with some sort of firm light in his eyes, almost challenging the spider to say otherwise, and in this Muffet saw a bit of Maddy in him. The old lady stood up and stated: "it is then decided: you will keep going with your task, and you'll bring Asriel with you". She clearly wasn't enthusiastic about all this, as she said those last words with a surrendered, slightly fake smile. Finally, Fresh spoke again. "Yanno, maybe it's better if you rest a bit before going on your trip. I can see some huge bags under your eyes" he said. Truth to be told, Muffet didn't feel tired nor did she have such terrible dark circles on her eyes, but decided to accept his suggestion. The spider then understood he did it only to calm down Raehel, as she clearly heard the goat lady sighing in relief. She guided Muffet to a guest room (the one where usually Frisk slept in the original universe) and told them that she was always in time to change her mind. Muffet thanked her and Raehel closed the door, leaving her to her own thoughts.
She sat on the bed, which was bigger than how it looked, and stretched her multiple pairs of arms. only now she noticed how rigid she was... She thought again at the conversation she just had, and at what she would have done once she found that goddamn human. The idea of 'converting them' wasn't anymore a realistic idea, but she could still try to limitate them. She remembered how Grillby told her practically the same thing Raehel did, but for some reason she didn't listen to him. why was she noticing only now how much dumb she acted in the past?! In her head, the fight she had with the flame man came back. She insulted him, and shouted at him, and got mad at him, and the only thing he was guilty of was being too worried about everything to actually do something. She really acted like a jerk. and then, in that last second where she was at Sam's house, when she saw Maddy almost jumping in the room... The spider had her terrified eyes of them impressed in her brain. She always saw Maddy as the tough one in the group, the one who fixed problems by throwing a few punches here and there. the one who made sure Grillby didn't lose himself in thought in the middle of a mission, trying to elaborate the best plan. the one who first acted and then asked. Already seeing her terrified of herself after the Underswap mission killed Muffet inside, but that concerned expression she had in that moment, that despair... It really destroyed her. How stupid of her! Why did she act like that? Why did she mistreat her friends like that? The spider laid her back against the soft mattress of the bed, annoyed by herself. That timeline was making her think so much... Without even noticing it, Muffet slid into a deep slumber. For once, she dreamt nothing.
... that damn skeleton. he did it on purpose, didn't he?

Your head was light and brain struggling to make any connections to the rest of your body. Your back rested against the dining room chair as you let whatever Jo fed to you get mushy in your mouth. Caroline had fed you some of her blood but your headache remained. Everything about today had went south and now everyone was just waiting on the edges of their chairs for something to happen and just wrap up the gift of shittiness to this very bad day. Unfortunately for you, you just so happened to be the fucking bow.
"I thought I told you to stay away from her!" Bonnie snapped in the living room at the brown haired siphon. You couldn't hear the arguments happening in the other room solely because you were too busy being coddled by Jo and Caroline to make sure you wouldn't be able to hear the scolding Kai was receiving in the other room.
Bonnie never saw what you did whenever she looked at him. In her mind, you were just another one of his victims. He couldn't have had any good intentions with you. Kai Parker never had good intentions of any kind. He's selfish, and evil, and cruel, and there's no way in hell she was going to let him keep ruining your life after what happened today. Everyone knew who he was and what he did, everyone saw how dangerous he could be... except you just refused to acknowledge it. Truthfully, she didn't know whether to direct all her anger at him for hurting you or put all her disappointment on you for letting it get this far.
"Bonnie I swear, it's not like that! I never meant to hurt her, it just happened and I couldn't control it-"
"I swear to god I will kill you right now, and I wouldn't even need magic to do it." She growled.
He couldn't understand what made her so angry. Obviously he never meant to siphon so much out of you, really he didn't mean to siphon you at all. He was just planning on telling from Bonnie and the bracelet you gave him with a bit of your magic in it for emergencies and hoped the whole spell would work out fine.
"It was an accident!"
"Like hell it was!" Everyone stood around... watching... waiting... hoping. Hoping he would step out of line just once so they could rip his head off. "Nothing with you is an accident, Kai!"
"I would never intentionally hurt her, Bonnie! Believe or not I'm still capable of human emotions!" He scoffed, nothing the vampires surrounding him ready to pounce at any given moment, and with his anger levels rising they were about to have a field day.
"Of course you would, Kai! You hurt everyone who's close with you! Whether it's literally or metaphorically you always find a reason that benefits you, that justifies you hurting someone else! That's just who you are! You want nothing good with her, Kai! She's a good person, just leave her alone!" Bonnie growled, but Kai wasn't going to give in so easily.
"I've changed, Bonnie!"
"Changed into what? An even better liar? Because for an actual second there, Kai, I really believe you stayed in mystic falls just to live the life you never got to!" She fired.
"That's-"
"You know, if you wanted to make us even considering liking you, you should've moved. Far, far away from here, somewhere where you can't fucked up our lives enough for us to continue to have another fucking reason to hate you!" His shoulders dropped, hurting filling him to the brim. Usually he wouldn't let things like words get to him. She was upset with him, people say things they don't mean when they're upset... only she would've said this even in her happiest moments of life. She did hate him, and she had every reason to.
"She makes me a better person- When I'm I'm with her I want to be a better Person, Bon!" He defended himself. He knew the real reason he was with her, to him it was quite obvious. She made him feel as though the world wasn't out to get him. She could stop a nightmare before it even began with just a breathing the way she does. She made the best cupcakes, even though her cooking skills were mediocre, magic could fix everything. She made him smile without even doing anything just from the warm giddy feeling in his body when he's around her. Y/N Bennett... she was the only person to exist to make Malachi Parker feel like he deserved to live.
"Bullshit! You're just using her-"
"It isn't like that!" He snapped, causing the argument to halt for a few seconds.
"Really? Then tell me, Kai. What is it? Is it because she's my cousin? Is that why you're interested in her? To get back at me in your own disgusting twisted way? Or is it because of the blood? I bet her Bennett blood would come in real handy just in case-"
"No! I wouldn't do that to her-"
"Or is it because you're just so desperate for someone who actually feels like a friend that you decided to keep her around? Hmm? Maybe it's because after 18 years holed up in that prison word, you finally came to the realization that there is no possible way you could ever be loved. That you deserve to be alone for the rest of eternity. But all of a sudden, here she is, Precious y/n Bennet, the only person who is willingly to search for even a shred of good in you!" She spat. Everyone around watching guards fell as the watched Kai slowly become less tense. His shoulders falling slowly, the will the defend himself leaving his body along with his will to live, embarrassment and anger rushing through his veins, but a small part of him kept him in the room and not on his way back to his apartment. "Let me tell you something, Kai. Maybe this you can finally get it through your head." Bonnie feeling confident enough to take a step towards the stunned looking Siphon. "Not even a Bennett witch is strong enough to fix the broken, unlovable, vile person you really are. And if you truly, by some fucking miracle have a beating heart in your chest, if you've actually let her change you for the better, then you know she's better off without you. We both know that you don't deserve her in any way, shape, or form... so just let her go. Find someone else to ruin and leave her alone."
It felt as if all the oxygen in his body had left. His heart stopped pumping blood through his veins, and slowly and painfully he felt as if he was desiccating on the insides. He hadn't even noticed the tear that had escaped while he was being scolded.
Both you and Jos head turn as you hear a muffled scream that sounded like it came from Bonnie. You tried to stand by Jo eased you back down, shaking her head as if everything was all right. You couldn't hear much of the conversation going on in the other room, but you knew if it was enough to make Bonnie angry then it was never good. And Bonnie in their with Kai... was enough to make her wanna take out the entire town of Mystic Falls.
"I feel fine Jo, I'm good." You reassure her, standing on your own again against her advice.
She knew what was going on in there... they've been going at it since before you even regained consciousness. She wasn't worried about you not being able to stand on your own, she was worried about you overbearing the heavy conversation happening in the other room.
"Maybe we should head to a clinic or something, you did hit your head pretty hard!" She tries quickly but you shaking your head.
"Caroline gave me her blood, I'll be fine." You responded, looking to the blood who seemed to be in total shock and not at all paying attention to either of you. "I think I'm just going go home and sleep, promise I won't do anything to crazy." You sent Jo a soft smile, tilting your head at Caroline in confusion but ultimately ignored it. Maybe it was some weird vampire sensory thing.
"You should take the back door!" Jo tried again, just to keep you from walking back into the living room.
"I would..." you narrowed your eyes at the dark haired doctor. "But my keys are by the front door." You spoke, walking towards the living room before Jo could make any more excuses. You caught on fast, but really you did just want to go home.
"Wait No-" Jo stood quickly, Caroline finally snapping back into consciousness. By the time she could truly think, you were already walking through the doors leading into the living room. There was still a bit of your blood on the carpet, you knew Damon was going to bitch about that later so you figured you get out why you still could.
Well... that's what you were planning to do before you stopped just to notice all of the eyes planted on you. You first assumed that it was just them just surprised at your speedy recovery... but the tear running down your boyfriends cheek made you rethink a bit. Kai never cried. No matter what or ho he was feeling, there was not a thing in this world that he would ever let get to him. Maybe he was just so worn out from the spell too that he didn't even feel himself tearing up. The whole room felt tense, and even Jo and Caroline looked like this in the Kitchen.
"What's going on?" You felt your own body tense a bit as Kai's eyes fell down to the floor.
"nothin'" Kai mumbled, voice shaky. Your eyes narrowed with obvious disbelief. His voice was kind of small, and he couldn't even look at you. He had so many thoughts racing through his head he had no idea what to do.
"Why don't i believe that..." you spoke, mostly to yourself. "I was just about to head home." You mentioned wearily. "Are you coming or are you just gonna stand there awkwardly?" You asked, half joking and half wanting to know what had him so actually upset.
"Uhm," he spoke looking back up, eyes immediately attracted to Bonnie before looking back to you. He felt her glare burning into the side of his head, her whole rant repeating itself in his mind over and over again. "Yeah, yeah, I'll drive." He nodded, turning around just so he wouldn't have to look at you again. Before he could walk, Bonnie had grabbed his arm. Rather tightly, and oddly to be honest. She usually avoided any sort of interaction with him, so even an arm touch was a weird sight to you.
All she sent was a simple look that seem to have him shaken down to his boots before she let him go. Her eyes falling back to you. She sent a smile, before just walking away. Not a word. Just silence. It was weird, no one else had much to say either, just weird looks on their faces and more silence to give. You ignored them though, just wanting to get home.
"Uhm, okay." You responded to the silence, shaking out the bad feeling from your mind before walking through the living room. You grabbed you jacket off the couch before walking over to Kai. You reached your hand up to touch his arm but he shrugged you off, walking towards the front door without even look at you. Was he mad? What could he possibly have been mad at you for?
You pretended to not noticed the coldness and just follow after him out the door. He got into the car, barely even waiting until your door was fully closed before taking off out of the driveway. He needed to get you home. To stop himself from doing the right thing and letting you go because he didn't want that. He wanted you, for as long as he could manage to keep you in his grasp. It was selfish of him, but everyone already knew what he was like so he didn't really care. He's happy with you. Happy with his life with you. Happy with his life around you. Happy with himself with you.... why in hell would he ever give you up?
Bonnie was right though, letting you go wasn't about his happiness. It was about yours. And as selfish as he was, your happiness would always come above his own. He made sure of that everyday. He didn't eat until you did, he took shorter showers so you could have more hot water, or he'd just wait until you were done and take whatever was left. You wanted- deserved a life without him and all the despair and pain that follows him around. You didn't deserve to be woken up in the middle of the night because he was restless. You didn't deserve to be distanced from all your friends just because you liked him. If living the best life you could meant leaving him behind, he was fine with that. He was fine with that for you. He was fine with you being happy even if it meant he would've been miserable for the remainder of his life.
"Kai, you need to slow down!" You spoke up, hand moving to his thigh as you noticed his hand clutching the wheel so tightly. "Your going 70 in a 35" it was late and no one was out on the streets, he didn't care how fast he was going.
"It's fine, y/n." He muttered, eyes not leaving the road. There were no deer out in this time of the year, there was no danger of hitting much of anything.
"No, Kai, it's dangerous." You responded, "slow down, please."
"No." He needed to get you home. If he slowed down, that gave you more time to talk. More time for him to think, more reasons to flood his brain on why you were better off without him.
"No? Kai, come on, seriously you need to slow down." You scoffed, not amused by his resistance. "I'd rather not die in a car crash before I'm old enough to run for president."
"Could you stop talking? Like just for a moment!" He huffed.
"Wha- I- no! What the hell is wrong with you? Slow the car down, Kai!" His eyes rolled, momentarily forgetting just how persistent you could be. "Kai!" Your hand moving from his thigh as you contemplated jumping out of the car just to see what he would do. Maybe after you break probably every bone in your body he'll slow the fucking car down. "Stop the damn car." You spoke but he ignored you, hoping you would just stop talking to him.
Instead of you stopping with the chat, he felt himself stomping on the break as your seatbelt came undone. Your body moving forward fast, colliding with the dashboard, and knocking the absolute wind out of you. He unbuckles his seat belt quickly, looking over to you. You were fine, your boobs not so much, but it wasn't unbearable. You let out a deep throaty couch, opening your car door. You only unbuckled your seat belt to get him to slow down, put the fear in him that you were going to jump out.
Well... it sort of worked.
"Y/N, what the hell?!" He growled, following you out the car. You were leaned onto the car trying to get some air into your king as the adrenaline started releasing through your body. "What the hell were you going to do? Jump out of the fucking car because I was got a few miles over? You could've gotten hurt! Hurt worse the just hitting the dashboard! What if another car was coming? You could've gotten ran over, and killed! Then you'd wake up with a craving for an AB positive juice box!" He scolded you as if you were a child.
"I wasn't actually going to jump out, asshole! I just wanted you to slow the damn car down! And if you would've done it, instead of being a dick then we wouldn't be having this conversation!"
He mumbled something under his breath that you couldn't quite make out and you finally managed to stand straight again. "Are you okay?" He sighed.
"Are you?" You shrugged. "You haven't looked at me since we left the house, you won't talk to me, practically told me to shut the fuck up, and then you yell at me like I'm kid."
"I didn't mean to yell at you. I just didn't want you to get hurt." He frowned a bit.
"I'm fine. But I'm not getting back in that car." You spoke.
"What? Why?"
"Tell me what Bonnie said to you that has you so upset." You demanded, his heart pausing for only a moment as you stated into his soul.
"What?"
"I might be a little be slower at picking up on the clues but I'm not stupid. What did she say that has you so deathly terrified to even look at me?" You asked. "Did she put a spell on you or something-"
"No, it's nothing, y/n, just drop it and let's get back." He shook his head.
"If it was nothing then you wouldn't mind telling me."
"It's none of your business."
"Seeing as your my boyfriend and she's my family, in some weird way, whatever beef you two have is my business."
"Leave it alone."
"No" You shook your head, crossing your arms over your chest even though it hurt a bit.
He wanted to yell, but he knees you still wouldn't give up. He didn't understand how you could be so annoyingly persistent still after he's shot you down so many times. It was like you knew you were getting under his skin yet you kept digging. Purposely trying to draw out some reaction just for your own amusement.
"Why don't you give up?" He groaned. "Why do you even care? Why can you stand there and look at me like that with no guilt at all?!" His foot colliding with the car tire. He hated how much every fiber of his being was pushing him to do the right thing for once. "How can you stand there knowing everything I've done and still sleep in a bed with me? Do you not care?" He wanted to stop but nothing was letting him.
"What're talking about?"
"I killed people! My own family, y/n! I hurt Bonnie! I hurt Damon! I hurt Elena, and then just because I thought you were pretty I hurt you too! And still, you refuse to see any of my faults in actions that I take pride in!" He yelled finally. It didn't phase you. You encourage him to let any emotions he was feeling out all the time. He was angry right now, and you were fine just seeing how angry he really was.
"You're not that person anymore, that's why. I trust you."
"Well you shouldn't." He shook his head. "I will always be that person!"
"You may feel like that person but your not!" You defend him against himself. "You've made a lot of progress, you know that. And I could sit here and dwell on the shit you've done in the past but if I did that to everyone, I'd have no one." You sighed, not understanding why he was bringing any of this up. What did Bonnie say to him?
"I left Bonnie in a prison world to die!"
"And you helped me get her back!"
"I tortured your best friend!"
"You wouldn't be the first-"
"Stop doing that!"
"What?"
"Making excuses for me! There are none! I'm a bad person, y/n! You aren't, this whole 'fix me' doll relationship isn't going to last because of that! Because you deserve better than me! And if I let this go any further, then that means I haven't changed. I'm not better than I was, I've just had you to keep me from making any stupid decisions-"
"Kai stop-"
"-and one day you're going to realize that this was all a mistake. That maybe there isn't something that can be redeemed in my cold unloveable heart. And when that day comes, I'd rather not wake up and see the pure and utter hatred you've developed for me just like the rest of the people in my life."
You felt your lungs stop filling with air. It was hard to get any in, you were just breathless. How were you suppose to breathe after that? Now you had a decent idea of what that conversation he had with Bonnie was.
"No. You don't get to do that, you can't push me away. I'm not here because your a chore Kai, I care about you, and I want to be with you-"
"Do you seriously have no respect for yourself?!"
"Do you?!"
"No! Because all my respect goes to you! Everything I have goes to you! And because I respect you, and because you are literally the only thing on earth that I actually truly care about I have to do this-"
"No you don't-"
"I'm br-"
"No your not!" You groaned, covering you ears as if that would effect the outcome of this situation.
"Stop being so stubborn."
"Kiss me."
"No,"
"Just do it, Kai! Kiss me, and we can make up and forget this whole conversation!"
"How can you seriously fucking stand there and act like I'm not going to ruin your life. I murdered my own siblings in cold blood. And I'd do it again, y/n. I don't feel bad, I never felt bad. I've done so many bad things and your standing here looking at me like I'm a fucking Saint who deserves the happiness you give!"
You remained silent.
"Is that what you want? To see how bad I can be? To wait for the day where you can see Malachi Parker in action? Be there when he finally breaks?! Again!" He scoffed and you shook your head, but no word escaped. "You know what" his eyes set on you, desperate to make you see what everyone else sees when they look at him. "Maybe i can get to your head, if I let you in mine." He spoke walking to you, hands on your temples before you could even move.
You tried to break from him hold be you weren't nearly as strong as he was. He was mumbling something under his breath and soon your whole body became numb. Your mouth feel open as you let out groans of pain as bloody images fill your head, and guilt and remorse and hurt filled your heart. Screams and cries ringing in your mind, but none you've ever heard before. People you've never seen crying, and struggling to run from you. Only it wasn't you they were running from. It was Kai.
His memories flooded your brain all at the same time. You had no idea had to process everything you were seeing. All the pain in your chest amplifying somehow with a deeper emotional pain. But most of that wasn't yours either. It was his too. Loneliness and Exhaustion. Hate and Longing. It was overwhelming along with the pictures and sounds running amok in your head. Soon pictures of Bonnie had flashed through your mind, and Jo, and Damon. Blood, and more blood, nothing wasn't covered in blood, and with every passing second the pain in your chest worsened. Cries of his name, and blood curdling screams filling your head, some of which belonged to you. That was when you felt the worse pain. Hearing your own screams caused a panic, and seeing your own body covered in blood, watching your body fall just earlier as your head collided with the end table. Sheer panic and anguish for some reason. But the last image to intrude your thoughts seemed like a not so distant memory of his. One of you. Even if your head wasn't being taken over you wouldn't have remembered because in this moment he wasn't with you. He was sitting across the grill watching you dunked your fries into a strawberry milkshake with a huge smile on your face in front of your friends. You seemed happy, and it was like you were witnessing someone come back to life. First grief hit you hard, then relief and joy, and then reality set in and it was like you realized that it was all just dream and that person was still dead and never coming back and you were never going to be happy again.
He tore his hands away from you, allow you to steal in some oxygen and you went dizzy, using the car for support so you wouldn't collapse on the ground. Your chest heaving as you tried to reel in your mind what you just saw, what you felt, what you heard. All of his memories. All of the bad things he's ever done, or things he would consider to be bad. But in his mind, it was only reason that you would probably be more inclined to leave him for.
Through every memories you were overwhelmed with emotions. Whatever you could feel you felt. You didn't know which emotions were yours or his. You couldn't separate the feelings. But in some weird way you could tell that the pain and anguish churning in your gut was his. You didn't know his family well enough to have regrets, or remorse... that was all him. All the fronts he put up... all those emotions exposed everything.
"Get in the car." He spoke softly, helping you off the car so he could open the door. "You don't need to say anything, I'm taking you home and then I'll be gone." He spoke as if he knew that you wanted to be nowhere near him.
Instead, you just wanted to give him a hug. That gut wrenching pain he felt still lingering within your body. Tears streaming down your cheeks but not because of what you saw, but how he felt. Every one of your friends have done things of equal evil status. Judging him for things he obviously did regret and feel everyday wouldn't be fair to him. And whether you felt like that because you wanted to be fair or because you were in love with him was a mystery to even you.
You didn't speak, you just sat in the car staring ahead of you. Trying to determine how you really truly felt. Why was him seeing you so bad that he felt he needed to include that memory in his mind torture. You barely felt time move as he flew down the road at the same speed as before. When he parked in front of the apartment the two of you shared, he decided he would just stay out and drive all night. He didn't know where to go. He knew you probably wouldn't want him around. You stared blankly at the red bricked building with the dim lights hanging from the walls.
"Y/N." He spoke softly, not wanting to look at the tears running down your cheeks.
"Kai." You returned, voice soft and brittle unaware of how vulnerable you sounded to him. "Why do you consider meeting me a bad thing?" You asked, not a single other word coming to mind.
"I don't regret meeting you. I regret putting you in this position in the first place. And if I didn't insert myself into your life then-"
"Then you wouldn't be breaking up with me on the side of the road. Leaving me alone to spend the rest of my life wondering what I did wrong to push you away. To wonder why my love wasn't good enough reassurance-" you rambled not sure why everything was coming out of your lips.
"then you wouldn't be crying right now. Then you could've avoided all of this." He sighed in response. He hated when you cried, if it was anyone else it would've been annoying. Your tears always were the one thing that could truly break him into pieces. "When I met you... when I met you, I was so sure that you were just going to ignore me or hate my guts. I fucking left your friend in a prison world to die, y/n. I tortured you, yet you still see me as someone who's able to be redeemed. You SAW what I did, and your still defending me!" His own tears starting to pool. "I d-don't want you to hate me... and I don't want to do this... but I do want to be happy and I don't think you could ever really do that until I'm out of your life." You silently shook your head as you tried not to let your own tears keep falling. Your heart clenching in your chest, breathing getting harder to achieve.
You didn't speak.
You couldn't.
Pain hitting you harder as each second passed. You didn't know how to respond to be truthful so you just unbuckle your seat belt. You sniffled, waking the tears from you cheeks only to has fresh one replace the one you wiped away. Kai still refused to look at you, maybe you finally did she was shitty person her was. And how stupid you were for being with him. You opened the door, getting out quickly hoping he follow you but he didn't. You were still a bit dizzy from him flooding his memories through your head. You're steps were slow and wobbly and you were bound to fall in seconds but you just kept moving. To any who didn't know what you've just been through, you were just so drunk sorority girl trying to make it to the door.
Kai watched you struggled for a second, knowing you could hold your own, but he didn't want you to. He got out of the car, not even caring about locking it behind himself. His feet carried the rest him over to you. Almost as if his body was acting on instinct to help you. His arm wrapped around you, your sweet scent immediately wafting into his nose causing a tear to slip down his cheek. He ignored it, helping you, and you just let him. You didn't feel like fighting. You just wanted his touch on your skin, so you allowed him to help you.
Many thoughts flooded your head. He was as bad as everyone said he was. But you he'd never hurt you, in any way. He wouldn't hurt anyone else because that would hurt you. He was good because he wanted to be, but only for you. No one else has ever really given him good enough reason to be good. You knew he wasn't the same person that he was, and tonight just cleared it all up. It didn't stop you from loving him. It just gave you all the more reason to. You've seen your best friends do worst than him, who were you to cash him out for something he's going to feel his entire life?
You didn't speak the entire way to your front door. He unlocked the door for you, hoping you would just be able to walk and get some rest on the couch or something.
You had other plans.
You stood straight on your own, looking back to the brown haired siphon who realized he was just fooled into a trap. Your hands reached for his, taking his hand in yours quickly before he could walk away.
"Y/n, please, it's easier this way just let me go-"
"You showed me your worst moment so I want to show you my best." You spoke. Eyes dead set on his, hands gripping each other's, neither one of you wanting to let each other go. "Please." You let out a small breath.
"This is going to make it a lot harder-"
"That's the point, Malachi." You sniffle, holding in a tiny laugh.
"Okay." He whispered, preparing himself for the rush of emotions and memories flooding through his head like he did to you. You pulled your hands from his, placing them on each of his temple before beginning the spell.
It wasn't long before he felt your presence in his mind, his on thoughts being taken over with your own thoughts. At first it was a horrible feeling watching every time you were happy, knowing he was never going to be able to see that from you again. Not if he kept his promise. He wouldn't to push you away, his chest light and full with joy and a love so over it was almost crushing. He watched as memories of times you spent with him. From your first date, to that one joke he cracked the made you laugh when he first kidnapped you just to torture you for practice. He watched as he teased you, to the first time the two of you had sex, to the first I love yous, and he felt how warm inside it made you at the fact that he never over used the words. You knew he loved you even when he didn't physically say those words. You felt his love every time you were around him, and that was enough for you.
He felt a soft smile forming on his lips but he could tell if it was from your happiness or knowing how much he really meant to you. Memories of late night cries, and arguments ending in angry sex, and sneaking out of classes, and talking trash about your friends even though you would never said something too horrible about them.
You liked who you were with him. You loved who you were. And he felt all of that, he felt how much love you held for him, how much pain you were in to think about him leaving. And eventually that strong happy, lovely, calm feeling was stripped away from him, leaving him empty for a moment before he felt you hands against his cheeks.
You were holding his face, staring straight into his eyes, both of you almost to the point of sobs. You were praying to god that you're plan worked. The hell were you going to do if it didn't?
  "Don't leave me, Kai."
"Y/N-"
"I'll follow you to the ends of the earth, Kai. Let me love you, please." You pleaded, bodies moving closer together without each other even realizing. It was natural for you to be close with him, you never questioned it.
He didn't want to say no. But he owed it to you to say no.
"You saw what I did-"
"And you saw how much I love you-"
"You watched in first person how I killed four of my siblings-"
"And you watched from my point of view how badly I fell in love with you."
You just wanted to kiss and make up. You would fall apart if he left you alone. Especially if he was doing it for your own 'happiness' because that meant he thought you weren't happy with him. It was upsetting and slightly insulting, because you were the happiest you've ever been with him.
"I just want to do the right thing, baby." He whimpered quietly, you're heart nearly breaking in a million pieces. His tearing streaming quickly, mentally slapping himself for being so weak for you.
"Then stay... stay and make me the happiest person in the entire world. We could graduate together and get a small house in the suburbs, or- or we could leave. Right now. Travel all across the world, experiencing so many different things together." You offered meaning every word.
At some point in the silence that seemed to last for forever, one of you couldn't take it anymore. You didn't care to pay attention which one of you, but your lips connected, smooshing your faces together to be as close as possible. Tears mixing on each other's cheeks, his hands down on your waist pulling you closer into him as you both made you're way inside your shared home.
He used his foot to kick the door closed, being careful to touch you oh so gently. You were a fragile peace of glass to him, the most beautiful sculpture who had no business being with him. He did nothing to deserve you, yet you felt he deserved you more than anyone in the world. You wasted so many years on him tonight, and for some reason you didn't care anymore. He was here, he was on you, his hands, his lips, your minds in sync for each and every single one of your next moves.
Clothes slowly being tossed the the floor as you both backed each other to your bedroom through the dark apartment. By the time you reached the bed the only thing you had left were you bra and underwear, along with his shirt and boxers. Neither of you had even bothered to pull apart for a single breath. You allowed him to gently lower you on the poorly made bed.
"Mmh, w-wait-" he mumbled against your lips. Youre legs parting for him to slip between which he did without thinking. "This is wrong-"
"No, it's not?" You spoke in confusion. "I love you, Kai. I don't care what Bonnie said, because she doesn't know what this feels like." You shake your head.
"Find someone else to ruin and let her go" Kai quoted, your grip on him tightening. "I don't want to-"
"Maybe I want you to ruin me. To fuck up my life. To fuck up my morals just because I love you. I want that, Kai. I want every bit of it. I want this love that consumes me from the inside out, and I want to be able to go against everything I believe for you. I. Love. You." His hands traveling down your waist, as you let out a sigh.
"I love you." He mumbled. "I love you so fucking much." His lips came down on your collarbone, fingers slipping under you panties waistbands before snapping his fingers to get rid of them. You felt the cold air against your slick heat, the warmth from his own body radiating into yours. His hips grinding down into your, his hardon pressing into you causing a light whimpering as you felt the butterflies raging into the pair of your stomach.
"I just wanna be with you, baby." You let out a soft moan, urging him on as he nips and sucked red marks onto your skin.
You used your own magic to undo the threads of his plain blue shirt as you dragged your hand down his back. The fabric slipping down his arms which he didn't mind. He was too focus on your warm skin under his tongue. His teeth grazing across your skin, coming closed with a tiny pinch every time. Your chest heaving into his from the closeness, and heat of it all.
"Tell me to stop” he mumbled against your skin, hips grinding into your heat as you let out needy moans.
“I need you, Kai, please.” Your lip caught in between your teeth, as the cloth of his underwear separating the two of you disappeared. “I want you so bad.” You whined, fingers digging into the soft warm skin on his back.
You felt his hard on slipping between your slick folds as he rocked his hips back and forth. He wanted to feel you, he wanted you to feel him. He never wanted to leave your side, or go a moment without feeling your warmth. He loved you with every fiber of his being, and there was no possible way he could truly explain that to you.
“Please-” you pleaded before he slowly pushed himself into you. Your mouth hung open as his length filled you to the brim, the tip of his cock hitting that hot spongy spot in your cunt so well you could help but moan. He always did fill you up perfectly, almost as if he was made for you or vice versa. “Oh my god.” You whined, hips grinding into his as his hips set a steady pace.
Your legs resting around his waist, as you let out small breathy moans. He was fucking into you hard, but it still felt amazing. He wanted to take his time with you and you felt it. Your body tingling, mind focused solely on him and everywhere your skin touched his. You felt his lips connected with you neck, continuing to suck soft bruised on the skin, placing a soft kiss after each one whispering a single ‘I love you’ each time. His hands left your waist, traveling up your beautiful naked body, taking all the warmth he could, until he traced your hands to his back. He pulled the off, even though he enjoying the sting of your nails digging into his skin, pinning your hands down above you head. His hands flat onto of yours, fingers intertwining as his lips found yours again, your kisses sloppy and slow. The sound of skin on skin filling the room as his pace quickened earning louder breathier moans from your pretty little mouth.
You felt a bubbling heat in the pit of your stomach signaling you were close to your high. Eyes struggling to sty open, as your boyfriend fucked into you so lovingly. It became harder to do anything other than focus on the feeling of him hitting so deep into you he’s almost hit your cervix. The kisses became harder to return and nothing but the sound of you filled the room. He watched in complete awe as you as you slowly began to fall apart. You were the most beautiful creatures he’s ever laid his eyes on, and he had you here underneath him on your way to this euphoric high that he him caused. His name coming out of your mouth in quiet moans and pleads and warning of you about to explode all over his dick. You were all he’s ever wanted out of life, and now he had you and there was no one and nothing that would take you away from him except for death itself.
You were his and that was final.
“Open your eyes baby, look at me.” He groaned as he felt your cunt convulsing around him so tightly.
You struggled with the actions, your eyes focusing on his eyes as you cried out in pleasure. “I’m so close, Kai, fuck, I’m going to cum.” You whined and he nodded watching as your breathing got heavier.
“Cum for me, baby, cum all over me.” He urged you on, feeling his own high approaching.
You felt something inside you explode, a loud moan his name escaping your lips, all your juices spilling onto his hard cock a he continued fucking you through your high. You body jolting and shaking around him, as he went faster, eyes rolling to the back of your head as you realizing you weren’t done yet.
“So close.” He mumbled, hands squeezing your so tightly you felt as if they were going to break. You ignored the pain of having your hard crush and just let out absorber moan from another orgasm building quickly.
“M’gonna c-cum again!” You warned, strained voice loud and needy.
“Me too baby” Kai moaned back, watching your eyes squeeze shut again taking in the way your body shook around him. “Let go y/n, I know you want to.” He spoke out of breath.
You felt his thrust getting sloppily, but he tried keeping up the pace. His own body stiffening as his cock twitch in you as you clenched around him again. Both of your falling apart with loud moans, and whimpering of each other names, lips coming together again as he spilt every last bit of his hot cum into your beautifully worn out cunt.
Neither of you spoke any words. Just your reveled in each other’s tongues, allowed you naked bodies to somehow merge into one. You felt a sudden tiredness take over you as it did the same to him.
“I don’t want to let you go.” He whispered into your lips.
“Then don’t. Let’s stay this way forever.” You hummed, squeezing his hands in yours.
“Deal.”

Settings in She-Ra
Today I will talk about setting and how She-Ra uses its settings to do some very cool things with its writing. I didn’t even notice all of these things until a recent rewatch because it’s so subtle and yet so brilliant at unconsciously making you notice things. TL;DR: The two major characters, Adora and Catra, are reflected in the show by a few major settings. And in this essay I will -
To understand settings in She-Ra, you need to understand that writing is rarely a cause-and-effect endeavor. Writing decisions and choices don’t just happen because something is the most likely to happen in the world of the story; things happen because the author writes them. So when something takes place in the Whispering Woods, it’s important to remember that was a deliberate decision for some event to happen there, not just because it’s a logical outcome. Following this, I will make a guess that She-Ra’s major settings are like an extended metaphor for the thoughts and feelings of its two major characters, Adora and Catra.
What tipped me off to this was a recent rewatch, when Adora and Catra confront each other at the end of Season 3. And it occurred to me just how often they confronted each other in the Whispering Woods. Seems odd, right? Another thing is that Adora goes on her own Hero’s Journey. The Hero goes into the Unknown, a supernatural place, and encounters challenges, only to grow past them and emerge a changed person, and returns to their life. Adora definitely changes; she literally transforms into She-Ra for the rest of the series, and She-Ra even changes again when Adora gets a new transformation. The Whispering Woods can certainly be defined as the Unknown, in a literal sense; even the princesses and native Etherians treat it with caution and confusion, because it’s so ancient and mystical. The Woods also exist as a boundary between the Horde and Brightmoon, a middle ground. If Adora’s journey begins in the Horde and ends in Brightmoon, she has to go through the Woods, the Unknown, in order to complete it. Adora’s journey is centered around her inner thoughts and feelings as much, or even more, as it is about winning a war. And these challenges to her thoughts and feelings usually take place in the Whispering Woods, which is a metaphor for her sense of self. Or else, they take place in First One’s ruins, which are in the Woods, and represent Adora going deeper into her thoughts.
No post of mine is complete without numerous examples, so let’s take it from the top. Adora and Catra leave the Horde, their home, to enter the Woods, and Adora encounters something strange and new there. Adora goes back, and Catra stays behind, metaphorically because Catra isn’t ready to start her own journey yet. Glimmer and Bow enter the ruins with Adora, and she slowly learns to let them into her life and they become her close friends. Adora gets to Brightmoon but enters the Woods again when she is unsure of what to do, and gets advice from Razz. (Which is really advice from herself: “You’re a smart girl. What do you think?”) When Adora next encounters a problem she can’t handle, healing Glimmer, she retreats to the Woods again in search of answers. She goes deeper and finds Catra in the ruins in Promise. After making the major decision to essentially cut Catra out of her life, to “let go,” the Woods end up destroyed in the process of the Battle of Brightmoon, much like how Adora’s own thoughts are conflicted.
The next major conflict in the Woods happens in the Season 3 finale, in the false world created by the portal. Adora confronts Catra yet again, not just once but twice, and firmly makes a decision: I can’t be friends with you anymore if you keep acting like this. We also get a nice look at Adora’s theme of destiny and how that relates to Glimmer and Bow leaving her alone, and Angella sacrificing herself when Adora initially believes that’s her destiny.
Our next major glimpse of the Woods comes from Mara, actually! Mara herself goes on a little brief journey, and learns new things from Razz in Hero, in where else? The Woods. Mara, being the She-Ra before Adora, as a predecessor figure, emphasizes that the Woods have some mystical connection to the mystical She-Ra - and the exposition for the audience doesn’t hurt here either. Season 4 ends with another major conflict between Adora and one of her parental figures, Light Hope. We go as deep as we’ve been yet into the First Ones’ ruins, and it ends with Adora rejecting the concept of her destiny.
Finally, in Season 5, when Adora gets back to Etheria, she retreats from Prime to, where else, but the deepest part of the Whispering Woods. However, much like how Prime’s chips can take over a person’s thoughts, so too do the chipped people take over that camp, corrupting a safe haven for Adora. Shadow Weaver worms her way into the new camp in the Whispering Woods, and in the next episodes, Adora starts letting Shadow Weaver’s incorrect arguments about repressing her thoughts and feelings worm their way into her head. But then Adora goes as deep into the ruins as she’s ever been, the literal center of the planet. Glimmer and Bow turn back and trust Catra to go deeper, with Shadow Weaver. It’s in the tunnels where Adora rejects Shadow Weaver one last time, and Shadow Weaver dies, and Adora can start to get closure on that chapter in her life. And then Adora accepts her love for Catra. How cool is it that this place is called the Heart? Not just a heart, as in the center of Adora’s self, but a heart as in the symbol for feelings and wants. And how it’s both of those, suggesting that feelings and wants are the strongest and most central part of her mind and self. (If you’re familiar with my other ramblings, insert the “magic, especially She-Ra’s magic, is love” metaphor here.)
As an aside, the two parts of her mind, the First Ones and the natural Whispering Woods, can be read as an extension of this metaphor; she’s torn between two groups. While Adora is technically adopted, based on the themes of the show, this isn’t so much about literal feelings about adoption as it is “found family vs birth family.” So the First Ones don’t represent adoption in a negative light, as much as they represent some of our birth or immediate families. And how the family Adora found and chose, is so much better for her than the families that were chosen for her (either Light Hope as a representation of the First Ones, or Shadow Weaver as someone who takes her in).
Whew, ok. How about Catra? Catra’s self is reflected much like Adora’s. Catra’s major setting is the Fright Zone. She wins most of her major victories there. She defeats Shadow Weaver, and she defeats Hordak. But she also loses her friends. She stuns Entrapta. The two pivotal moments of Scorpia leaving her happen in the Horde: when she confirms she would destroy Emily, and Scorpia calls her a bad friend; and when she discovers the note Scorpia left behind. Double Trouble confronts her in the Fright Zone after she fights Hordak. Unlike Adora, the Fright Zone is portrayed as an unhealthy place.
Catra only starts her own journey when she enters her version of the Unknown. If Adora’s version is the Woods, then Catra’s supernatural place where she doesn’t feel at home is Horde Prime’s ship. She tries her games again, to make her way up the ranks, but it’s clear Prime isn’t falling for them. She confronts her inner thoughts and feelings: “Adora means something to you.” She sees what she’s always known deep down, in an irrefutable way: the Horde, and Prime, is super unhealthy. She makes her pivotal decision to change when she rescues Glimmer. And let’s talk about that, because there’s something super neat about Adora’s reflection of her deepest thoughts, the ruins, and Catra’s reflection of her deepest thoughts, the Velvet Glove. These are the only two places where there are diegetic flashbacks, and only for Catra and Adora. (Diegetic means “in the world of the story.” Characters can see or hear a diegetic thing. So background soundtracks are for the audience only, that is non-diegetic music; Sea Hawk’s shanties can be heard by the characters and the audience, that is diegetic music.) There is an explanation in the world for Adora’s: it’s tech, either by Light Hope, or a leftover. But there is absolutely no reason that Catra can see the exact same style of flashback aboard the Velvet Glove, in Corridors. Why only these two places, that just so happen to be the two places that reflect each of their deepest feelings? Speaking of Corridors, it’s an exceptional episode for all its imagery and it’s here that the setting reflects Catra the most. It’s here when Catra reaffirms her deepest fears. “All I do is hurt people. There’s no one left in the entire universe who cares about me.”
But she’s wrong! Because although Adora and Catra are each reflected in their settings, they are also deeply intertwined with each other. We see this in Save the Cat, when Adora goes into the Velvet Glove without even being able to turn into She-Ra, ready to make the worst tactical decision ever, of all time, to try and save Catra. We see this in Promise, when the two deeply confront each other about their innermost feelings, and the settings become intertwined: we’re in the ruins for Adora, and at the same time in a simulation of the Horde for Catra. We see this in the Woods in Season 3’s finale, when they confront each other yet again. We see this in the tunnels in Heart, Part 1 and Part 2, when Adora sees Catra in simulations and Catra makes her way into the deepest part of the Heart to save her. Think about the number of times they have been alone with just each other in any of these settings. Think about who gets to be in these settings with them, and how that usually or always reflects who has the most influence on these two as characters. (Remember Prime isn’t so much about who he is, as what kinds of thinking he represents.)
The settings in She-Ra not only reflect the two main characters visually, but also metaphorically. Adora is the Woods and the ruins. Catra is the Fright Zone and the Velvet Glove. The characters enter each other’s settings many times, and they argue and fight. But, throughout all that time, they’ve still held the other near to their heart. As Catra says to Adora: “I love you. I always have.”

Caught in Between 26. Fallen Friend
Tumblr media
Summary: Athena Dumont has finally found a place to call home after many years of foster homes and traveling. She had finally tamed her supernatural side and just wanted to live a normal teenage life. She quickly discovers that there is nothing normal about her hometown, Mystic Falls and gets sucked right back into the supernatural world.
Post Date: 12.15.20
Word count: 2k
Based off: 04x06 “We All Go a Little Mad Sometimes”
I wake up the next morning to find multiple calls from Elena. I call her back and she answers and starts speaking so quickly I couldn’t understand.
“Ok. Ok. Just calm down,” I say.
“Can you just get here as soon as possible?” She asks frantically.
“Yeh, I’ll be there as soon as I can,” I say and hang up.
I get ready as fast as I could and headed to Elena’s. As I made my way into her house, I find her walking back and forth freaking out. As I make it further into her house I find Jeremy laying on the couch, although it does not look like he’s asleep, more like unconscious. Damon comes in almost as soon as I make my way to Elena.
“What happened?” I ask ignoring that Damon had arrived.
“I uh couldn’t sleep so I came down to get some milk. And um I saw the hunter and next thing I know I stab Jeremy in the neck with a knife,” Elena explains.
“Ok well, at least he still has the Gilbert ring,” I respond.
“I can’t believe this happened. What--what am I going to say to him?” Elena says freaking out.
“Thanks for not ditching the family ring after it drove Ric crazy?” Damon suggests.
“Damon…” I say and look at him annoyed.
“You should have called Stefan,” Damon says, clearly unsure of why he was there.
“I don’t want to talk to him. He’s been lying to me and hiding things from me. He compelled Jeremy to forget god knows what,” Elena explains.
“In all fairness, I mean, I think you killing him kind of trumps that. I mean, you should have called Stefan,” Damon suggests once more.
“I don’t trust him right now, Damon,” Elena says.
And just like on cue, “Hey,” Stefan says walking into Elena’s house.
“P.S. I called Stefan,” Damon says as I roll my eyes.
“What happened? Why didn’t you call me?” Stefan asks.
“I just--I need to go upstairs and shower. Clean all the blood off my hands,” Elena says and walks off.
“Could any of you listen to Elena, once?” I ask before Jeremy wakes up.
“Welcome back. How you feeling?” Stefan asks.
“What happened?” Jeremy asks.
“Long story. Buy the E-book,” Damon says and walks to the kitchen. I head into the kitchen after Damon and help him clean up the blood staining the floor.
“You know you could be a little more sensitive right?” I tell him.
“Ehhh…” Damon says.
“Damon… it’s her brother,” I give him an annoyed look.
“Where’d Jeremy go?” Damon asks as Stefan walks in.
“School. Bonnie has him volunteering for some occult exhibit,” Stefan explains.
“Or maybe he didn’t want to linger in a house where his sister just jammed a knife in his neck,” Damon says.
“It’s Klaus,” Stefan says looking down at his ringing phone.
“Ooh, time to face the music, pay the piper, dance with the devil,” Damon says.
“You know, I’m glad you find this amusing. If he finds out I told you about the cure, he’ll kill both of us,” Stefan says confusing me.
“Quit avoiding him. You’re being shady. Shady people get outed,” Damon says as Stefan answers his phone.
“I don’t want to talk about it,” Stefan says.
“Well, I can’t imagine why what with you ruining all my plans for a hybrid-filled future,” Klaus says.
“Well, it wouldn’t have happened if you hadn’t sworn me to secrecy,” Stefan says.
“Life’s full of ifs, Stefan. Let’s extenuate the positives, shall we? The hunter was one of the five. We’ll find another. It may take centuries, but we’ve got nothing but time, right?” Klaus says.
“You’re using your calm voice today. Who’s getting killed?” Stefan asks.
“Not you, if that’s what you’re worried about. But I am concerned about your beloved. Have the hallucinations started yet?” Klaus says as the three of us exchange looks.
“What do you know about that?” Stefan asks.
“I’ll tell you. Where are you?” Klaus asks back.
“I’m at her house,” Stefan says.
“How convenient. So am I,” Klaus says before we hear a knock on the door. Stefan quickly moves and heads outside.
A few minutes later Elena comes down looking like she saw a ghost. “No!” She says before running outside.
Damon and I follow her but we find that she had been whisked away by Klaus and Stefan was standing alone on the sidewalk. Stefan explained to Damon and me about the hunter’s curse, and about the cure to me. I call Bonnie knowing that she was our only luck in finding Elena. Once she arrived we explain what happened.
“You lost her?!” Bonnie asks.
“Well, ‘lost’ is a very strong word. We technically don’t know where she is,” Damon says.
“We do know that Klaus took her,” I say.
“I’m more worried about what Klaus said about the hunter’s curse,” Stefan says.
“How does Klaus even know about this?” Bonnie asks.
“How does Klaus know anything? The guy’s like a billion years old,” Damon says.
“He said it was a witch’s curse,” Stefan says.
“You know if I could do anything to help I would, But I--,” Bonnie says.
“But nothing. Wave your magic wand, hocus pocus, be gone, hunter, ghostess,  whatever,” Damon says.
“The spirits won’t let me do the magic I need to break the curse. But I can ask Shane for help. He knows everything about everything,” Bonnie explains.
“Great. You two do your thing,” Stefan says.
“Where you going?” I ask Stefan while he walks away.
“I’m gonna get her back,” Stefan says.
“I’ll come with you. Maybe he’ll listen to me for once,” I say and follow Stefan outside.
“I don’t need help getting Elena back,” Stefan says sitting on his motorcycle.
“Maybe not. But I am good back up. At least if he listens to me. We might have a better chance, than if you go by yourself,” I explain.
Stefan takes some time to think, “Alright hop on,” Stefan says and starts his motorcycle. He stops just past the town clock tower and makes a call to Caroline. We then make our way to Tyler so they can explain what’s going on.
“Haley is the one that helped me break the sire bond. She showed me what to do. How to help. When she showed up here, I thought it was just a coincidence but it turns out she’s been helping one of them. Her friend Chris. And she came to help us get the rest of them out from under Klaus,” Tyler explains.
“Including me,” I say waving my hand.
“So...Are you telling me that Chris and you aren’t sired anymore?” Stefan asks looking at me.
“That’s exactly what he’s telling you,” Caroline confirms. We all then come up with a plan and of course, I’m the one who goes to talk to Klaus, but what did I expect. Stefan, Tyler, and Caroline head out as I head to the Mystic Grill where Klaus was.
“Place looks pretty good considering your hybrid got blown up in it,” I say walking up behind Klaus whose drinking at the bar.
“Athena. To what do I owe the pleasure? You never seek me out on your own, I tend to have to come to you, even if you’re staying with me,” Klaus says.
“I want you to give Elena back,” I say standing by the bar.
“Ahh. They sent you to sweet talk me. Well, good form, But I’m afraid I can’t do it,” Klaus responds.
“Why not?” I ask.
“She needs my help,” Klaus says as I scoff at his statement. “Look, I’m not going to burden you with the gory details. I know you’d rather be doing other things, painting or hanging out with your friends,” Klaus says.
“Can’t do that, if Elena isn’t around,” I respond.
“Can I at least offer you a drink?” Klaus asks.
“Yeah, thanks,” I say knowing it’ll keep him out of his house longer.
“How uh… was your trip to Italy? I assume it was for business, Klaus Michaelson doesn’t do vacations,” I say.
“It was very productive. I’d be glad to tell you what I’ve been up to, soon though,” He says as I feel a buzz from my phone. I look down to find a text from Tyler sayings that Elena had escaped. And another text from Damon saying that Jeremy is the key to stopping the hallucinations.
“So here’s the thing. I didn’t just come here to try to get you to release Elena,” I say.
“You don’t say,” Klaus says with a smile plastered on his face.
“I came here to distract you so that Stefan could go to your house and break her out,” I start as his smile falls. “Which he did and don’t get mad, but then he lost her,” I finish and Klaus doesn’t hesitate one moment to move from his seat. “Klaus!” I say.
“Athena. You’re beautiful and the love of my life. But if you don’t stop talking, I will kill you,” Klaus says surprising me.
“They figured out how to stop the hallucinations,” I say stopping Klaus in his tracks.
“Ok. You have 10 seconds to tell me,” Klaus says with haste in his voice.
“You have to find a potential hunter and have them kill another vampire. The catch is...it’s little Gilbert,” I explain.
“Well, this leaves us no choice. Let’s find us a little Gilbert and a  hybrid,” Klaus says.
“Damon already contacted him. We’ll meet them at Tyler’s,” I say.
“Well, let’s not waste any time,” Klaus says taking my hand in his and pulling me with him. We make it to Tyler’s house and go over the plan.
I watch as Klaus walks into Tylers and the next thing I hear is Klaus yelling. As the hybrid was starting to make his way out of Tylers, Stefan rushes in, staking him. And soon after Jeremy follows in and finishes the hybrid off. I follow in after and see Jeremy standing over the body, Klaus with a big smile on his face, and Tyler and Haley standing in shock.
“Alright, let’s go home,” Klaus says grabbing my arm.
“No, I’m staying here,” I tug my arm away. Klaus doesn’t try to stop me, but instead just leaves.
The next morning I wake up to find Haley asleep on the couch and Tyler sitting there with a bottle in hand.
“Tyler?” I ask walking into the room.
“It’s just us. Paying our respects to Chris,” He says and takes a sip of the alcohol.
“We didn’t have a choice,” I explain, sitting in the chair next to him.
“I told him we had his back. I told him if he helped us, he’d be free,” Tyler explains.
“We needed to help our friend,” I say.
“Yeah, we helped our friend by handing over another friend,” Tyler says. I sat in silence not knowing how to respond. “Chris was a friend. He’s like us. Part of my pack. All he wanted to do was be unsired by that disgusting, piece of...How did you even get Klaus to agree to give up one of his hybrids?” Tyler asks.
“Well, I didn’t have much to offer nor do I want anything to really do with him but…” I say.
“I agreed to go on a date with him,” Caroline says walking into the room. Tyler stands up facing Caroline. “I just thought that it might help keep up the ruse between you and Haley,” Caroline explains. Tyler doesn’t respond but instead, he throws the alcohol bottle against the wall, scaring both Caroline and me.
“What the hell is going on?” Haley asks waking up.
“Nothing. Nothing at all. Just celebrating the life of a fallen hybrid friend,” Tyler says shifting his eyes between Caroline and me.
I decided to leave Hayley and Tyler alone for the rest of the day and go check up on Elena.
“Hey, how are you feeling?” I ask her as we walk into the kitchen.
“Better now that the hunter is gone. Thank you for your help,” Elena says.
“No problem. I’d hate to lose you too,” I say.
A/N: This is just a filler, I hope you all enjoyed! Thanks for reading.

Tides of the Dark Crystal liveblog pt 19
Tides of the Dark Crystal because I want to know if they’ll be able to save a tree! I’m arboreally invested!
Last times on book: Amri and co are on a quest to unite all the Gelfling clans against the Skeksis. They’ve managed with the Sifa and they’re trying with the Dousan at the Wellspring gathering place now. Periss, their guide to the Wellspring, did a hostage situation to get the team educated about the plight of dying giant trees in the area. Amri, Naia, and Tavra dove down down down to the bottom of the lake where the tree once was and found a spark of life. But it needs the Dousan to heal and it’s going to be hard to get them to the bottom of the lake. They’ve only got one Naia to go around.
Chapter 19
Team Naia and the Dousan heal the tree, more plot arrives in a silver bound scroll
Okay. So the solution to how to get all the Dousan underwater is to not do that. Its just not feasible. Amri suggests getting the Dousan to the cave since the water from the Wellspring is going to the cave too and Naia says it’ll have to be good enough.
Their lips met, and she filled his lungs with air, more warmly than before, then thrust him away. He held the feeling in his heart, letting it buoy him toward the surface so far above.
Is giving someone oxygen underwater a ship tease? Because it seems to be leaning that way.
Amri bobs to the surface and is pulled out of the water by good ol’ Periss. The Dousan are all still meditating as their camp is torn to pieces by the wind. Can’t say they’re not determined.
The Grottan guy tells Periss (and Erimon who is still hanging around) that the tree is still alive, just, and that it needs the Dousan’s song for Naia to heal it.
Periss turned on Erimon, eyes wide with hope.
“Our people meditate, send thoughts and dreams into the universe, trusting Thra to send providence. But they won’t take action -- won’t even lift a finger to save the gifts Thra has already provided! If they won’t, then I will.”
Periss runs off to put the nearest Dousan. To put them in a headlock and drag them to the cave, presumably.
“You say you saw it? The tree truly lives?”
“And can save us yet, if you’ll believe in it!”
Like the living spot of the tree in all the dead, a spark of light flickered in Erimon’s countenance. Like a wall breaking, like he was waking from a dream that he had been dreaming too long.
Maybe if the tree had sent dreams to the rest of the Dousan, this would have gotten resolved faster. I do wonder why it only sent dream nightmares to Periss.
Anyway, Erimon pulls a horn from his belt and just holds it up to the wind, which makes me laugh a little at the effort saving a desert storm can provide. The blaaaaat, presumably, of the horn rouses the Dousan and Erimon tells them to get themselves to the cave.
When Erimon, Periss, and Amri get to the cave, Erimon jams the horn into a crevice so it’ll keep blowing and guide the Dousan there.
Inside, Kylan has climbed into a little nook that I guess has great acoustics and is still playing his firca. Amri tells Erimon and Periss to get to singing without waiting for the rest of the Dousan.
A neat touch is that Dousan singing is a sort of humming that reminds Amri a lot of the Mystics but also Aughra’s chant and the song of Thra. Given who the Dousan based their culture on, it makes a lot of sense. And is probably the best possible singing for this situation.
Amri asks Onica how they’ll know this is all working and she says “If it works, the tree will rise and break the storm wall,” Onica said. “And if doesn’t, we may be the only ones that survive this trial.”
No pressure. Except all the pressure. Geez, the weather is pissed off.
Some more Dousan start finding their way into the cave, caked in sand, and confused how things have gotten so bad and whether buried in sand forever is the answer Thra is giving them.
Even entering the cave and seeing Periss and Erimon singing to Kylan’s playing the Dousan just kind of. Silently watch. They need a bit of a nudge.
“Thra has already given you an answer. To the darkening, to the Skeksis, to all the corruption that seeps into our world. Believe in the way Thra has shown us all along, even if it seems hopeless. In the tree. In the Gelfling. In each other!”
Amri held out his hands as the storm threw itself against the mountain, a monster knocking on the door. To his surprise, a Dousan stepped forward and took his hand.
“I will believe,” she said.
Another followed her. Amri didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.
I would also like to see this portrayed in puppets. It wouldn’t be as technically impressive as the dive into the forever deep spring but it would make me feel feelings.
The Dousan join hands and hum sing so loudly it drones out the storm.
Amri sees a dreamfast, presumably with all the present Dousan or with the tree?, of the tree in its prime and the Dousan coming and going from the oasis.
He thinks he hears Naia’s voice so looks outside the cave where the darkness has lifted.
Amri stepped outside of the cave and gasped.
Still growing, at an impossible and rapid speed, a tree was unfurling from within the lake. Its spiraled shoot jetted into the sky, thick boughs with huge succulent fronds blooming like a storm of another kind.
The storm wall broke as the tree pierced it, scattering the lightning and wind. The clouds parted in a ripple, dissipating. Behind the black of the storm, the sky was light with morning.
HEYYYY wow. They kept saying that the tree could stop the storm but I thought it was like. Magic. Not that the tree would grow so big that it would explode the storm.
These Great Trees are. Pretty great.
In the center of the still-chanting Dousan, the same rainbow light appears and dream-etches the story of the Sifa and now the Dousan joining the resistance.
Very helpful to have a ‘quest completed’ indicator. And very cool.
Amri also sees a vision in the fire of Maudra Ethri at Cera-Na receiving a scroll tied with silver twine.
Huh. Plot hook?
And similar to the dream Naia had of her mother receiving a scroll in the swamp.
Huuuuh. Huuuuuuuuuuuuuuh.
Speaking of Naia...
The tree’s bark was made of woody, layered diamonds like the scales of a lizard, pointing upward to capture what meager rain fell in the desert. Cradled in one of the shelves made of the bark, resting in a nest of lake weeds, was the Drenchen girl. Amri splashed through the water and climbed up the tree to where she lay.
“Oof,” she groaned when he reached her.
“You did it. Naia, you did it.”
She gave an exhausted chuckle. “It wasn’t me. When I was down there, I could hear you. Through the water and the river. I heard Kylan’s firca. I heard the Dousan singing the song of life.” She looked at the palms of her hands. “I became one with the tree, in that moment. I felt as if my heart had grown wings. And then this miracle...”
Together, they looked up through the morning suns as they came through the tree’s fronds, sparkling with the water that still dripped in pristine rain from so high above. Naia smiled and put her hand against the tree’s bark.
“Oszah-Staba,” she said. “The Wellspring Tree. Its tears have always filled the lake. But now they can be tears of joy instead of loneliness.”
WOO!
I hope they all feel very accomplished! That’s two whole clans convinced and a tree saved.
Uh, so why is there still 80 some pages left. Are there more tides?
Despite stopping the storm, it managed to destroy pretty much the entire Dousan camp first. The Crystal Skimmers at least dig themselves out of the sand.
Erimon tries to apologize to Periss but Periss just tells him that his sand skiff (the one that Periss stole?) will be a good apology.
Everyone is basically feeling good and accomplished right now, despite 80 some pages left.
Even Tavra spoke kindly into his ear.
“You did very well, Shadowling,” she said.
“And how are you, spiderling?” he replied.
“Tired.”
In the past, her short answers had always seemed aloof, as if she didn’t want to speak to him any more than she had to. But this time he heard something else. Not sadness, not reluctance; just exactly what she’d said. Tiredness.
With a start, he realized maybe this was just the way she was: not cold, but reserved.
Frens.
Also, I have to imagine that being the middlest child had a lot to do with it. Brea and Seladon are a lot more than Tavra is. Just a lot more. And they seem to constantly put her in the middle of it. Where she has to be very diplomatic.
Amri asks if there’s anything he can do for Tavra but she says nothing more than he already has.
Aw.
Maudra Seethi’s Crystal Skimmer arrives in rough shape, deck in ruins and Skimmer covered in wounds from the storm. But there’s no Maudra Seethi aboard.
Wait, that’s it! That’s what’s missing! Surely I get to meet Maudra Seethi in this book where half the plot has been the Dousan! I’ve met all the other Maudra!
Sandmaster Rek’yr is aboard. Hi show character, Rek’yr!
He tells the protagonists that Seethi’s Skimmer was caught by the storm wall on the way to the Wellspring and had to back off hoping for it to break. But while they waited a message came from Ha’rar and Maudra Seethi had to leave immediately.
Rek’yr coughed again and groaned, producing a scroll tied with a piece of silver twine. He passed it to Erimon as proof. Amri waited while he read it, though with a horrible dread, he felt he knew what words would come from the sandmaster’s mouth next.
“The maudra have been summoned to Ha’rar by Princess Seladon,” he said. “All-Maudra Mayrin is dead.”
Oh nerts.
Huh. Three books only takes us up to the equivalent of episode 5 or 6?
Dang, Naia’s team is good at squeezing in a lot of plot in a short amount of time.

Lost in the Blizzard (Chapter One)
This is another story that I’m working in the Tangled Fandom. I, of course, don’t own Tangled and make no profit from this. Enjoy.
There are forgotten legends when it comes to magic but one is still very well known. One about a which from the Land of Ice and Snow who rules over the land. All the people lost in the blizzards are hers but she especially loves children. Now she has set her eyes on a new treasure.
Once upon a time, there lived a woman, we don’t know what her name is or what it was when she was nothing more than a regular woman. For you see her true name has been lost to time through heartbreak and long years of loneliness her story only a small part of a larger story. One of love, adventure, and mysticism. For it was she who created the events that led up to the journey.
Depending on where you go around the world the origins of the woman differ some say she was girl cursed with the powers of ice and snow, her powers slowly consuming her until she was nothing but an empty shell. Others call her a demoness from another dimension who takes from our world with the power of her blizzards, striking so suddenly that the lost can never be saved. Others say that she was once a mother who had lost her children during the winter to the elements and driven mad with grief, she lost her life searching for her children in the blizzard. When she finally lost her battle with nature her spirit continued to search for her dead children.
While we can never truly know what happened to make the woman of this story there are somethings that we do know. She is a woman whose heart is as cold as ice, with hair as black as night, skin as white as freshly fallen snow, and powers as fierce as the blizzard storms she can conjure. Her powers where so fierce in fact she was unable to ever leave her realm of ice and snow for if she did then she would surely lose her power, no she was most powerful in the winter.
Then one day a wizard had appeared in her land, he was a frail and pathetic thing who had always wondered the true fate of those swept away by the blizzards now he knew. When he went to her ice palace looking for shelter the woman said: ‘Tell me stranger do you what happens to those who trespass in my land?’
To the wizard the strangest think about the woman was not the power that she exuded but the child who followed her around like a shadow. The child wore rich blue clothes to that of royalty with a crown made of ice like of the Queen's design, although strangely enough, they did not wear shoes. They would talk to the Queen calling her mother and vying for her attention which she gladly gave. However, despite the seemingly warm response from the Queen, the wizard could not help the foreboding feeling in his heart. The wizard replied: ‘No, your majesty I do not for this is a strange and far off land indeed. A land where there seems to be no spring, summer, or autumn only an endless winter. Pray tell what does happen to those who trespass?”
‘Men like you who wander into my home have but only two options,’ the Queen pointed out the window where the Wizard spotted what he could only assume were statues. ‘you can either become apart of my garden or,’ she points further away to a beast not quite a horse, ‘you could be a beast who shall pull my carriage.’
Neither option sounded appealing to the Wizard to either become an ice statue or a mindless beast forced to trek the endless tundra. That is when he was struck with an idea, knelling down to gain her favor he said: ‘Your majesty my talents would be wasted if I were to become such things but if you allow me I can create for you a window to see beyond your realm of ice and snow to new and more exotic realms.’
This caught the Queen's interest no one had ever given her a proposition such as this and while she would never trade her home, she was often curious about the worlds her children often came from. Seeing no reason why she could not humor the Wizard she spared his life with the promise that if he were to create this “portal” she would also give him a way back to his home realm. Once the deal was made the Wizard set off to work.
To create his promised object he needed metal, which the Queen pointed him towards a village at the base of the mountain. When he arrived after a day’s journey, he was shocked to find that the residents weren’t human at all. While they spoke and worked like humans such as himself, they were Polar bears. When he told them of his plight and of the deal, he made the chief said: ‘I must warn you stranger take the other options for any gift you give to her will surely be ruined by her own hand.’
Put off by the warning the Wizard asked the chief what he meant by that: ‘If you want to truly understand only look at her children.’ The chief would not say anymore but at the man's insistence gave the Wizard the precious metal he asked for to create his gift. As he worked, he kept the chiefs warning in the back of his mind every time a curious child came to watch him work. As their unnaturally blue eyes watched him pound into the metal, they watched as he carved the runes into the metal to create the spell.
There was something wrong with the children, but he didn’t care much for them other than himself. If they were lost there was nothing, he could do about their current situation it was even possible that they were living better lives than their previous ones. Even if he wanted to do anything for them the was nothing he could do against the Snow Queen. It was simply not his problem.
When the month ended the Wizards, the gift was complete when he presented it to the Queen, she received what looked like a simple silver mirror. He said: ‘To activate this mirror you must only think of what you want to see, and the mirror shall show you what you want to see.’
Listening to the man’s instructions, she walked to the new mirror hanging in her throne room she touched its reflective surface and pictured one of the locations her children previously described to her before they decided to stay with her. The reflection rippled and became distorted showing her a forest clearing with different animals that the Queen herself had never seen before. This pleased her greatly it seemed that the man had done exactly what he promised. Now it was her turn to fulfill her end of the deal.
Walking towards the man she held out her hand and said: ‘Give me the sharpest item in your possession.’
Put off and wanting to return home the Wizard gave her his sharpest knife one he used to skin wild game during his travels. Yanking the knife from his hand the Queen gently rubbed her hands against the worn steel covering it with ice using her powers. Once it was completely enveloped the ice broke but in its place was not the same dagger the Wizard had given her. In its place was silver dagger encrusted with blue gems, handing the knife back the Queen said: ‘Only think of where, who, or what you want to go too and slash the air then you shall be able to go home.’
The Wizard took the knife gratefully and did what the Queen instructed that was when he found himself home in the little cottage in the woods. There he lived the rest of his day peacefully putting the realm of ice and snow away from his thoughts. Not once did he think of the children he left behind and not once did he think of their fates. The Wizard just simply continued to live his happily ever after.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Daddy?” Varian asked as he leaned against his father for warmth. He was very put off by the story, it didn’t seem very right with how things ended. The young boy had expected a fight for the Wizard to free the realm from the Snow Queen or even a trick to get the children away, but there was nothing of the sort only one man getting a happy ending.
Quirin, his father smiled warmly at his son, “What is it, son?” He had just told his son about the story as it was the only thing they could do while the snowstorm was happening outside.
“Why did the Wizard do nothing for the children or the people?”
“Because he didn’t know how too,” Quirin said. “Personally, I think this story is like the myths about the sun and moon gods’ ways to explain the natural world around us. In this case, it explains why there are surprised snowstorms like this and why some people get lost in these storms.”
Varian yawned, it was getting very late and the fire in the fireplace was slowly dying down leaving nothing but embers. Yet, Varian tried to put on a brave front for his father he was four years old and he was a big boy. He didn’t need his daddy to carry him to bed.
Quirin, on the other hand, knew better, he slowly stood up making Varian face plant onto the cushions of the couch. He put his hands under his son’s armpits and gently lifted him from his seat, sometime between then Varian fell fast asleep his soft breaths ticking against his fathers’ neck. Not wanting to wake his son up Quirin slowly and quietly took Varian to his room where he placed the boy on the bed and tucked him in. After making sure that Varian was fast asleep Quirin brushed a hand over his sons’ forehead and planted a soft kiss on his forehead, “I love you son, sweet dreams.”
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It had been ten years since that night, now Varian had grown older but not necessarily wiser. A teenager who spent all his time inventing and working for the good of his village. That isn’t to say that whatever he invented always worked with them oftentimes exploding instead of actually working. These failures did little to curb Varian’s inventive spirit instead pushing him forward to work harder although always after he finished cleaning the mess he made. Currently, this wasn’t one of those times.
“So, Ruddiger what do you think about the mirror?” Varian asked as he examined the results of his latest experiment. It was not technically anything new, but the process of making the mirror was fascinating although the cost of the materials actually made the entire endeavored worth it. The only difference to his experiment, when compared to other manufacturers' mirrors, is that he forgoes the mercury amalgam normally used to create the mirror effect. Varian hoped that by using his new method that poorer citizens might be able to afford mirrors rather than only the rich fellows.
Ruddiger chittered at his friend’s newest creation being captivated by the raccoon trapped within. No matter where he went the strange raccoon followed and when he went to greet the stranger, he still couldn’t reach them. To say that Ruddiger was impressed would be a lie despite Varian’s denial the mirror really was something of magic. It was a nice break from the black rocks that normally took the boy's time.
Ever since Varian came from the science expo (and Ruddiger was properly introduced to Rapunzel and Cassandra) he had been spending his time searching for a solution for the rocks plaguing his village. Answers were not coming easily to the boy as they seemed impervious to tampering but that did not stop Varian from at least obtaining information. Right now, he had the chemical makeup of the rocks which he was confident that no one else in all of Corona had. While he would normally be over the moon and inform his father of the results, he promised the princess to keep any information about them to himself.
Although in recent weeks the promise itself seemed very pointless when factoring in the amount of trouble they were causing, destroying homes, ruining crop yields, even disrupting trade between villages. While this was normal in Old Corona (except the disrupted trade) with Varian as a resident for such damage to not be caused by the leader’s child was just unusual. These rocks couldn’t be cleaned up, destroyed, or removed which was a massive change for the residents.
When thinking of all this it was only natural that Varian tries to curb his more ambitious projects if only to save people the stress if they go wrong. It was sort of strange to him that he wasn’t the cause of so much destruction considering that it seems to be naturally forming. That was his first hypothesis anyway until he saw the rocks react to the princess more specifically her hair.
Ruddiger chittered bringing Varian back from his thoughts about the rocks. The mirror was supposed to be a break for him nothing serious or messy but enough to take his mind off the current problem. He thought that by giving himself a break he could think up fresh and new ideas in dealing with the problem. The only reason why he thought to make a mirror was because of how one could see their reflection off the rocks. It was silly he knew but it was better than nothing.
Looking at the clock Varian realized how late it really was he should have been in bed hours ago. Placing a blanket over the mirror he gently hulled it to his room with Ruddiger close behind him, the mirror wasn’t very heavy but the size of it made it awkward to carry around but at least anyone looking at it would be able to see their entire body. Varian placed it next to all the other experiments and inventions around his bed being mindful of the delicate piece. Once he was satisfied with its placement, he turned to get ready for bed.
 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Varian did not know how he found himself in the middle of a snowy wood. One minute he had nodded off in the warm confines of his bed with Ruddiger and suddenly he was in the middle of nowhere seemingly lost. He shivered as the cool breeze bit into his bones running through his thin pajamas causing him to wildly look around for any possible shelter. There was none. It also did not help that he was forced to walk barefoot in the snow causing him all sorts of pain and discomfort, he hoped that he was able to avoid frostbite. Hands wrapped around him, he turned to figure out the best direction he could go.
His surroundings gave Varian an eerie feeling, no forest should ever be so quiet and still. Yet this is where he found himself, there was no sound of animals foraging for food. There were no winter birds filling the silence with their wild songs. It was as if time itself was standing still throughout the area. That’s when he heard it, the song.
It was a beautiful song the likes of which Varian had never heard before. It filled the eerie silence with a charm that Varian could not ever hope to describe filling his very being with a want to find the origin of the music. feel a wave of emotions all at once. Happiness, sadness, he wanted to try and laugh at the same time these emotions were so strong that Varian forgets the bitter cold. He wanted to know who was playing such wonderful music.
Trudging through deep snow Varian followed the music as the snow crunched under his bare feet. As he followed the music Varian looked at his surroundings other than the music there was no life in sight although that was to be expected of the weather. The trees were nothing of likes he had ever seen before looking as if they themselves were made of ice. While others looked of simple pine with the green of their needles clashing with the white of the snow. That is when Varian saw a break in the woods.
Eyes widening in excitement Varian dashed towards the clearing, but not before stopping himself and shyly hiding behind a pine tree. He could not understand what was happening to him normally he could confidently walk up and greet anyone he set his mind to. He did it to Cassandra. He did it to princess Rapunzel. Yet why did this woman make him feel so strange and childish?
The woman delicately strummed her crystal harp making the strings strum softly, it was the most magical thing Varian had ever heard. She was seated in what he could only describe as a bench made of ice under a gazebo also made of ice. The woman herself looked like she would be royalty with her skin as white as snow, and hair as dark as night her clothes looked extravagant and very expensive with a white glittering dress under an icy blue cloak. Varian gulped nervously he wanted to greet her so much so that he gathered himself and took a step towards her.
 CRUNCH!
Varian winced somehow stepping through the snow was too loud overpowering the soft music produced by the woman with the harp. He ducked his head in shame as the music came to an abrupt halt at his intrusion, he hadn’t wanted to upset this stranger by ruining her song. However, to his surprise there was no annoyance or reprimand at his intrusion only worry at his current state, “My poor child,” she said walking towards him, “look how cold you are! Come sit with me here so that I may keep you warm and so that you may continue listening to my music.”
Varian’s heart lifted at her words and while he did not quite understand what she meant about the cold he timidly walked towards the bench. As he walked the woman resumed her playing never giving him much mind even when he leaned against her shoulder in fact, she encouraged his behavior stating that being close to her would only make him feel warmer. He was feeling very warm and comfortable now.
While he listened, the woman introduced herself to him, “My child I am the queen of this domain but to all my subject I am known as the Snow Queen and who might you be?” At first, Varian tried to remember what his father taught him about giving his name to strangers before he rationalized that as she already gave him her name it was only polite to give her his. He did this and more answering her questions with complete honesty. She got him to tell her about his life in Old Corona and all the inventions he made even the ones that exploded. She seemed especially interested in him which he didn’t mind as he hardly had such attention from any adult let alone his own father. Suddenly he let out a yawn, his eyes felt very heavy all of a sudden.
As he tried to keep himself awake the Queen abandoned her harp, wrapping her arms around him in a hug. “Shhh, you must be very tired now.” She softly petted Varian hair combing her fingers gently through individual strands. “Varian did you like your visit with me?”
“Yes, I did very much I loved it,” Varian said snuggling into her mantle.
It seemed to be the answer the Queen was looking for because she hugged him harder, “Good because I would love for you come again, visit my lovely home, maybe get something warm for you to eat and drink.”
Varian nodded against her shoulder to visit her again would be a great opportunity for him. He gave her his word that he would do just that the next night before finally losing his battle to sleep. As he slept the Queen continued to pet his hair.
 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ruddiger couldn’t believe his eyes when it happened one minute his boy was sleeping peacefully under the covers of his bed before an eerie song was heard. At first, the raccoon thought that he was only imagining the song as there was no way such a thing could ever happen in his boys’ own room. That’s when Varian moved, but even then Ruddiger did not believe that Varian was in much control over his actions at the time. As the music filled the Varian began to stir in what Ruddiger could only assume was an annoyance at the music.
When Varian got off his bed Ruddiger simply watched as the boy walked towards his new mirror. Now that Ruddiger knew what he knew now it should have been obvious that something was amiss, even when the boilers were underground causing havoc Varian was still able to sleep through the night. There should have been no possible way that soft music would have awoken Varian from his sleep. His first clue of something amiss was Varian’s movement, walking as if he was being led by someone or something towards the mirror.
He assumed that is was the dark as humans did not have the same things raccoons as he had which was night vision. It was when he saw Varian’s reflection in the mirror that the raccoon panicked, his eyes were glowing but with none of the warmth, they looked to be in a haze, blanker than paper. When the boy started to walk into the mirror that’s when Ruddiger dashed towards his friend, while he had little idea of what Varian did, he did know that a mirror shouldn’t do that. However, he was too late to follow Varian through as Ruddiger got a pain in his head for all his trouble.
That is when he was presented with a choice, he could go to the boy’s father and try to tell him what happened to his only son. While Ruddiger was confident in his ability to communicate with humans he doubted that even he could describe what happened to a man with such a seemingly low opinion of him. The other was to wait until Varian came back because that was all he could hope for, hope that his boy was okay and that he wasn’t hurt or in pain wherever he was spirited away too. After what felt like hours the mirror started to change creating ripples and distortions on the reflection.
The first thing that came out was a familiar arm, then a familiar leg this continued until Varian was back in his room. Ruddiger chittered in relief and excitement his boy was safe and that what mattered to him, yet there was something different about him the raccoon didn’t know what, but he felt that Varian wasn’t the same. The raccoon tried to get Varian’s attention, but the boy ignored him instead of heading straight to his bed and burying himself under the covers. Ruddiger followed jumping onto the bed and snuggling into his boy, fast asleep as he should be and most importantly safe.
 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Meanwhile, the Snow Queen had enjoyed the time she spent with her brand-new treasure the boy was everything she loved in children. His eyes were just her favorite color matching the blue ice often found in glaciers, yet they held such warmth and wonder for the world. She loved the splash of freckles on his face, and his dark soft hair which fell over his forehead. What she especially loved about the boy, however, was the amount of love he put into everything.
She had watched him for a very long time although she would admit that she became interested in him after the first few failures of his inventions. What made her continue observing was the love she saw Varian put into his work just by seeing him continue working with alchemy. Even while watching the boy she noticed that he was always alone working in his lab. When he would talk to his little pet he would talk about his inventions and how they work as if it could answer back to him.
Varian practically projected all of his emotions, the utter want for approval from his father and the other villagers. The admiration for the former thief that saved a princess and a woman who wouldn’t pay attention to him until he impressed her. The boy has wasted with all those people none of them gave him what he wanted or needed, in fact, they never seem to do anything with him unless he initiated the interaction.
The Snow Queen wanted that; she wanted those eyes on her she wanted to feel the boy’s admiration on her as she could do everything for him. She wanted him to pay attention to her. Ever since she got her mirror the Queen could afford to be pickier with the children she took under her care before she had the mirror it was always a chore to wait for a blizzard the weaken the lines between their realm and her realm. She wouldn’t always make it in time and often times the children froze before they went into her realm it was a shame, but it was a reality that she accepted. They wouldn’t have survived long anyway.
There was no doubt in Varian’s ability though, she could just tell that he would be her most valuable treasure.

144. Sonic the Hedgehog #79
Tumblr media
The Discovery
Writer: Karl Bollers Pencils: FRY Colors: Frank Gagliardo
Welcome to the beginning of the Sonic Adventure adaption! Now, as you know, the world of the comics is very different from that of the games, which means right away we're faced with the task of finding a way to fit the story of the game into the world of the comic. We have three stories ahead, two of which do just that, and the third of which is the conclusion to the long-standing Tales of the Great War arc. Time to dive in!
Sonic awakens from his sleep early in the night to find Nate tapping away at his computer, explaining that he's trying to hack into Robotnik's computer network to spy on his current doings. At that moment he's successful, and finds a worrying message about invading the Mystic Ruins, prompting Sonic to immediately take Nate to warn the king about this situation. Apparently Nate is even more familiar with what's going on than he let on, telling the king that Robotnik appears to be invading the Hidden City of the Ancients.
Tumblr media
Despite Sonic's worry, the king insists he's fine and merely tired, walking off to get some rest, which Sonic does as well. The next morning he awakens to find his house full of his friends, all working together to cook a huge breakfast, as they've all been chosen by the king to go to this city and act as official liaisons from the Kingdom of Knothole. Amy, being part of the group helping to cook breakfast, has a fairly reasonable request given the situation.
Tumblr media
Now, can we just recall that Tails joined the Freedom Fighters at its inception when he was like, four? I get that the others tried to shelter him from dangerous missions and whatnot even back then, up until the events of his miniseries, but now Amy is asking, based on a precedent set by someone her age, if she can be allowed to prove herself as well, and immediately finds herself getting shot down. Honestly, I'm with her that they're being totally unreasonable here.
While everyone packs up for their trip, the king and Elias watch from a high up walkway among the trees, noting how happy and carefree Sally seems at this moment. The king is happy for her, wanting her to have a little bit more time to feel happy before he tells her about her mother's worsening illness, and is surprised when Elias already knows due to overhearing him and Dr. Quack talking about it previously. Elias then suddenly gets an epiphany, realizing there may be something he can do to help cure the illness, and rushes off as a suspiciously Overlander-looking group of girls fawn over him from the sidelines. (I know they're not Overlanders, but damn, they could have at least added extra fur or something to make it more obvious.)

Knuckles has found himself plagued with dreams lately - nightmares, more like - of a strange, watery being absorbing the Master Emerald, the Floating Island falling into the sea, and everyone he cares about on the island perishing because he failed in his duties to protect them. He wakes up with a jolt, still perturbed by what he saw in his sleep.
Tumblr media
Well, that's probably not good. Man, Knuckles must be the heaviest sleeper of all time if he somehow slept through his entire island the size of Delaware plunging violently into the ocean from eight miles up. Back in his HQ, Robotnik is ecstatic at how well his plan has gone so far, conveniently recalling it all in detail for the benefit of us readers. Apparently, he found all his information on an obscure data file that his previous self overlooked, about a mystical being with immense power made of living water, locked within… yeah, you thought I was gonna say the Master Emerald, right? Nah, man, this is the comics! No one's in the Master Emerald except ol' Mammoth Mogul. The being is locked instead within a black emerald hidden in the Mysterious Cat Country, which if you'll recall all the way back to the map in Sonic Super Special #2 is located at the equivalent of South America's east coast. Robotnik had his roboticized slaves excavate the emerald for him and smashed it to let the being out…
Tumblr media
Well, he let something out all right. He decided that looking for seven Power Emeralds was totally lame, and instead decided to fly to the Floating Island, where he found himself briefly surprised to see Echidnaopolis filled with, well, echidnas, since his data files indicated Knuckles was the only echidna on that island. Yeah, your files are a liiiiiittle outta date, buddy. He broke through the force field erected to keep intruders out of the Chaos Chamber with ease, and shattered the Master Emerald before anyone could retaliate, flying off with the pieces as the island fell from the sky. But remember who we just said was in the Master Emerald in this universe?

Once again, with feeling: oh, boy…
Tales of the Great War (The Conclusion): Life Under-Ground
Writer: Ken Penders Pencils: Chris Allan Colors: Frank Gagliardo
It's time to finally finish up this story, still being told by Jules and Bernie around the campfire to their eager listeners. When Uncle Chuck left to start up his chili dog stand, Bernie still tried to reason with him that he should try to find a cure for her husband's robotic state, but he was firm in his feelings of failure and refused to try anything for fear of making it even worse. Frustrated, Bernie tried to take matters into her own hands by heading to the lab, only to see Julian using her husband as a lab rat. She yelled at him for being so disrespectful, but Julian, true to form, had other plans.
Tumblr media
That's honestly horrific. Chuck went looking for Bernie when she went missing, and found her as a robot within the lab, where Julian "helpfully" informed him that she tried to mess with the roboticizer but foolishly set it off while inside. Of course, this only ensured he was even more guilt-ridden than before, and now he faced the daunting task of trying to raise Jules and Bernie's infant son, trying to figure out how to explain to him when he was older what had happened to his parents. In the end, we already know that his explanation of them being "lost in the war" stuck with Sonic throughout his life, and that his uncle was roboticized as well before he got any real answers. When Chuck regained his free will, however, the first thing he did was take a power ring to a handful of other roboticized individuals within Robotnik's factories, including Jules, to help them regain their free will as well. He built a small secure base within the sewers of the city for his new spies, and soon freed Bernie's mind as well, leading to a tearful-in-spirit (because they're robots, remember) reunion between the two. They both told Chuck not to tell Sonic of their state, wanting him to remember them as they had been when he was young until the war was over, which as we know kind of ended up being a bad idea given how betrayed Sonic felt as a result. But hey, everything is all right now - well, I suppose not everything, since Chuck is a slave once more…
Tumblr media
Two problems - first of all, y'all had months to dig into this zip disk when Chuck was still a free man, during the period of peace in between the two Robotniks. Why the hell didn't he help you decode it then? Second of all, this disk is never mentioned again in the comic. They just completely forgot about it and never brought it back. I suppose it was full of nothing but him talking about random goings-on within Robotropolis while he was a spy or something, since it ended up not being important at all. Ah well!

Anyway, here’s Galateotta, Thanatophobic Elven Necromancer searching for a way to stop death, first world wide, next only for a chosen few after “learning her lesson” and understanding that some people, actually, deserve to die and go to their dumb afterlives, least we fucked up the world in the process, 25 and looking like death warmed over already, charming woman this one.
She dies her hair red from their natural grey color. The eye markings are allegedly body paint actually she’s putting it on to hide the heavy bags under her eyes.
She was the loving and carefree daughter of a two Altmer tailors in the Imperial City. One day her dads sent her off with a courier to a friend of theirs in Anvil for a couple days, seemingly because they need to make a business trip and need someone to keep her for a while, but once Galateotta arrives in Anvil the Thalmor Emissary arrives to the Imperial City with the heads of the Blades in the Summerset Isles, starting the great war.
Her dads die during the Culling, the mass extermination of the population of the imperial city at the hands of Lord Narafiin, the Thalmor General leading the Imperial Front of the war, in order to break reality and fracture the veil within dimension, so to seemingly have the Thalmor achieve godlike power and allowing the daedra to once again invade Mundus.
The Culling fails, stopped officially by Titus Mede II wielding Goldbrand, actually a “forgotten” shezzarine pretending to be him, killing Narafiin, the fulcrum of the ritual, before reality can shatter, but the imperial city is still sacked and its population completely exterminated, Galateotta’s dads among them.
(What a MAJESTIC PR Move on Boethia’s part BTW. She supports the Thalmor all but directly for the entirety of the war, gives Narafiin dremoras, atronachs, cultist, support of the most various kind, direct and indirect help, helps him find the Orb of Vaermina and convinces Vaermina to let him have it... Then, right at the end, when she finds out a Shezzarine is near and Narafiin is about to fall, he lets them kill Reive, doesn’t recall the sword nor the Dremora Lord to her realm, so Reive dies like a chump and the Sword is conquered by the Forgotten Hero, and Boethia can go: “See, even in the darkest of times I sided with the good side, the one who didn’t want the world to explode, aren’t I the best?” Truly, the mistress of plots and ruler of subterfuge that one).
Anyway, stuck in Anvil, thankfully away from the front lines, Galateotta is deeply traumatized. The “family friend” bails on her, and she’s now alone in the street, a young urchin and orphan of a war that made far too many urchin and orphans. The local chapel of Dibella takes them in, or tries to take as many as they can, a orphanage being built as fast as they can, but she’s a Altmer, and so most other kids hate her, hate the race who made them orphans, so she’s not happy there, and spends some uneasy, awful 2 years.
That’s when the Thanatophobia starts. A priest of Arkay comes to them, shortly after the orphanage is built, and tries to comfort them, tell them about the great cycle of life and death and rebirth, of how now their parents souls are within Aetherius, washed anew into another life, and she loses it.
For her, Dying means leaving behind the ones you love, devastating them in the process, only for then be stripped of their identity, their memories of their loved ones erased only to become another person? That’s terrifying for her, of one day forgetting her dads like they probably forgot about her, so she makes a childish decision. If a cycle of death and rebirth is what brought her there, and if that’s what’s awaiting her, then she’ll simply not die till she has found a suitable alternative, one where she’s possibly still alive.
She’s 7 and an ostracized orphan however, so she doesn’t have much to go for that. Even her magical aptitude is low, since where most kids and failures rejected from the academy had managed to learn even the most simple of flame and healing spells, all of which being already taught to the poor orphans, “for self defense in these awful times” says Sister Andronica from Bravil, the one with a wicked glint in her eyes and yet a gentle smile when she needed to teach the kids how to fend for themselves.
(She left in a hurry one year later, to return to Barvil after hearing news from her family there, and right before they found Mother Superior dead. She had been growing ill over the year, almost as if something was seeping the life out of her, and it seemed losing Sister Andronica, with whom she had laways had the most... pious of relationship, must have been the last straw for the poor woman).
Yet teaching magic to a kid only leads to the ones being bullied to either become victims or butchers, and while she could not seemingly learn such easy spells yet, she had at least managed to learn Fury, a illusion spell, which only made her tormentors more mad, which was... worst, somehow.
Anyway, at 8 years of age Galateotta gets finally adopted, by Legate Cassia, now General. War Hero during the Great War, she was one of the four people who lead the four columns that took back the Imperial City from the Thalmor, and had been promoted and filled with honors. She had decided to take a much needed rest, especially after the trauma of losing so many good friends during the war, the pressure of all the things she had to do, as a commissariat officer, having to sedate insurgencies within the army with a iron fist, she and her men forced to eat their own boots, skaven’s tails, anything to survive during the time of the great war. So, while strolling in the streets, deciding to retire to Anvil at 40+ years of age, buy a cozy house there and live a calm, quiet life away from the madness of the imperial army, she has a young Altmer girl crash against her knees, running away from her bullies, and fall down on the ground in front of her.
She helps her up, her bullies hide, we have some conversations based on their circumstances, all very Oblivion like, or Interesting NPCs like, Galateotta giving her her life story and getting Cassia’s back in return, and Cassia decides to adopt this scared yet potentially feral yellow gremlin altmer child, because she likes her goddammit and maybe the gods are sending her a message at this point.
This will be a pivotal moment in Galateotta’s life for it will ingrain in her the Bruce Wayne School of Adopting Kids: “If you meet a kid, and they have no parents, adopt them no questions asked.”
Under Cassia Galateotta learns a bit the use of one handed weapons, needing something to defend herself with despite and because of her Altmer’s naturally fragile physique (Forcing her to wear mostly cloth or some light weapons) and apparent learning disability disorder stopping her from learning some spells right away. From her, she receives an Ancient Heirloom Cutlass, which becomes her primary weapon despite the years of wear and general bad quality, more for display than actual use, yet still better than iron swords.
At 16 till the age of 24, The Arcane University rejects her in all her applications, and the Mages Guild doesn’t even make her a member, both due to her lack of talent and her actual desires to join them, and while it’s frustrating at first it’s not so bad after the 6th year of rejection, so she doesn’t feel too bummed out about it. Again, she only wanted to join to unravel the mysteries of life and death, to achieve immortality for herself and everyone else, since she also blames the death of the other orphans parents on their awful behaviors, and therefore blames the Thalmor, so if they hadn’t been orphaned and had there been no war maybe they wouldn’t have hurt her, but mostly herself (and Legate Cassia).
Since the Mages Guild has banned necromancy a couple centuries ago, she can’t even research it in private either, least she was hunted down and strung up like a common bandit, so she can’t even go that route.
What she needs now, are 3 things:
1) A way to survive alone or, without that, one or more people or summons to watch her back:
The world is a dangerous place, and Given the lack of proper magical teachers, unfortunately, she STILL only knows Fury. It’s a pretty good fury, and she’s sure she’d be able to make one guy in 10 go mad and attack the others, but she’s not sure that must have that much uses in actual combat, especially if she’s doing a suicidal 10 vs 1.
She’d need other people to side with her, but she’s trash at making friends, most people finding her wanting to infodump about immortality and, well, religion in general, something she has almost become a expert at given as she tries to find something where she can still be free and mantain her individuality least her “immortality for everyone” plan failed. So she needs to work on her people skills more.
2) A change of scenery. Maybe, somewhere new and fresh, where people don’t know her all that well and there is less prejudice about her studies, where equally skilled minds can discuss openly about their research, where she can find the mystic power she needs to overcome her blocks and become the wizard to stop undeath...
3) Competent teachers, or, in lack of that, ways to research the wisdom of either dead or missing mentors, possibly in the fields of necromancy or theology.
And she knows just the place to achieve that.
Legate Cassia, now 50 going on 60, forbids her from going to the smoking crater that was Morrowind searching in the ruins of old Telvanni Mushroom towers for just that, least she was devoured whole by some nameless ash horror they left there to guard their secrets, but recognizes that its important for her and wants her to fulfill her dreams (which she assumes are impossible and merely theoretical, but she also wants her daughter to spread her wings, leave the nest, maybe become the mage she needed to be rather than the one she wanted to be), so instead proposes her to go to Skyrim instead.
One of Cassia’s old army buddies is there, as the Legate of the military governor, and she has heard the College of Winterhold was definitely more tolerant over Necromancy than the Mages Guild. So, she manages to convicne Galateotta to move there, leave the nest with a tearful yet awkward goodbye.
Cassia also writes a short letter to her ex girlfriend Rikke, telling her her daughter might come along at some point, and to try to treat her as she would treat Cassia, except the courier that was supposed to get it to Rikke manages to arrive 1 week late, and she doesn’t even know Galateotta is now captured during a Ambush on a man and a rebellion she knows nothing about.
So, here she is. Her heirloom sword has been confiscated and put in the keep’s barracks, the cart’s horse got spooked over something and crashed it against the walls of the keep, like can be seen in the above picture, she’s not been sleeping well in the last 2 days due to horrible nightmares, and now she’s about to get executed, which is triggering her fucking Thanatophobia right now because all her life work, she never managed to get anything does’n yes but it was still her life work, are about to get fucking wasted so she’s panicking because she doesn’t want to lose her life her individuality for some feel good bullshit story about death and rebirth she wants to remain there with hew mom she can’t leave her like her dads left her she just can’t-
And then, in the middle of a panic attack, Alduin arrives and saves her from her death, dazed and disoriented running away from the keep alongside the kind yet mild mannered legionnaire that was trying to not have her killed, away from the crazy Nords that were perhaps a bit too enamored with the concept of “dying with dignity and go to a place filled with mead (Yuck) and food,” and away from the Dragon who saved her life yet ended many others, now in the keep where they took her Heirloom Sword, getting it back as she puts on some mismatched light armor and a dead man’s wizard robe and hood, the first she ever got in her life, much to her new... friend? (She finally got a friend?) mild concern.
And this is where her story begins.

All The Vampire Diaries and The Originals Easter Eggs in Legacies Season 1
Legacies may have accrued a whole new generation of viewers who've invested in Hope (Danielle Rose Russell), Landon (Aria Shahghasemi), and the Saltzman twins' stories this year, but there are still a bunch of us who got grandfathered in thanks to our obsession with The Vampire Diaries and The Originals.
Luckily for us, while Legacies can definitely stand on its own two feet, several episodes in Season 1 took the time to pay homage to the two series that came before, as well as the beloved characters that are no longer on our screens every week. TV Guide has kept an eagle eye on the lookout for Easter eggs from The Vampire Diaries and The Originals all year,so without further ado, please enjoy this rundown of every reference, big or small, in Legacies Season 1.
1. The Stefan Salvatore (Paul Wesley) Memorial Library (Episode 1). The Salvatore library may have once been a place for Stefan and Damon (Ian Somerhalder) to drink bourbon and make bad choices, but now that the boarding house has been transformed into a school, the library is a popular hangout for students. It's also been renamed The Stefan Salvatore Memorial Library in honor of him sacrificing his life in The Vampire Diaries series finale to save the town of Mystic Falls from Katherine Pierce (Nina Dobrev) and her evil hellfire. The school even built a special case that holds Stefan's journals, his daylight ring, and even the necklace he gave Elena (Nina Dobrev).
2. Teachers summoning hellfire (Episode 1). Speaking of Hellfire, Josie (Kaylee Bryant) mentions in her tour of the school that their chemistry of magic professor accidentally incinerated himself with the stuff. Hellfire played a huge role in The Vampire Diaries series finale, as it was summoned by Katherine Pierce (who'd been cooling her heels in Hell since Stefan murdered her) to destroy Mystic Falls once and for all.
3. "It's not a competition." (Episode 1). In the pilot, M.G. (Quincy Fouse) and Josie have a little talk about Lizzie (Jenny Boyd) staking her claim on Rafael even though he's already clicked with Josie. Josie refuses to feel hurt about her twin beating her to the punch though, telling M.G., "It's not a competition," which is actually a callback to a line from Bonnie Bennett (Kat Graham) in The Vampire Diaries pilot in reference to Elena beating Caroline (Candice King) to the Stefan Salvatore punch.
4. Vervain in the water supply (Episode 1). Also in the premiere was the ever-popular "sheriff slipping vervain into the town water supply" move, which was a habit the former Mystic Falls secret council formed as a means of warding off vampires. This time around, the sheriff happens to be Matt Donovan, who appears to frequently slip vervain into the gas station coffee. Let's just hope he does it to ward off strange vamps instead of the kids at the Salvatore School.
5. The werewolf curse (Episode 1). While explaining the supernatural world to Landon, Alaric (Matthew Davis) makes reference to the werewolf bloodline curse passed down from parent to child, which is triggered when someone with the gene murders a human. While the curse was never fully explored on The Vampire Diaries, The Originals explained its origins as a curse cast by The Hollow in her dying moments on her tribe in retribution for killing her.
6. "Not now, Dana!" (Episode 2). Lizzie's rival at Mystic Falls High, Dana Lilien, is actually a nod to a minor character on The Vampire Diaries, as is Lizzie's line, "Not now, Dana!" at their flag football game. A chipper girl named Dana periodically appeared as a student and fellow-cheerleader on The Vampire Diaries, but she became a bit of an inside joke with the fans after one of her exchanges with Matt ("Not now, Dana!"). She inevitably met her end at Stefan's hand (well, fangs) on Senior Prank Night in Season 3, but, "Not now, Dana!" will live on forever.
7. Bonnie's magical assistance (Episode 5). As always, when our heroes are in a pickle, they call up Bonnie to provide a magical fix it. In this case, Dorian called Bonnie to help him track down and summon a vampire named Oliver who used to be the one true love of a Dryad who'd been thrown into Malivore. This Easter egg was mostly just a name drop, but it confirmed that Bonnie is still alive and still practicing magic.
8. Klaus' time in New Orleans (Episode 7). The Necromancer mentioned in his walk through Hope's subconscious that he spent a great deal of time in New Orleans before the 1920s since Klaus was always good for his business, killing people all the time. That was a subtle nod to the Klaus' murder spree on The Originals which subsequently forced him and Rebekah (Claire Holt) to flee to Chicago in the 1920s when Mikael showed up to hunt them down.
9. Ripper vampires (Episode 7). After discovering some students feeding on townies, Dorian explains what a Ripper is to Kaleb (Chris Lee), defining it as a vampire who is driven by obsession and the gratification of their own desires, even if that means feeding to the last drop and ripping the bodies apart. He says this in reference to Stefan going on Ripper bender with Klaus in 2010 (set between Season 2 and 3 of The Vampire Diaries) and even implies that M.G. is susceptible to becoming one.
10. Damon and Elena's babies (Episode 10). When Lizzie wished for an alternate reality where Hope never came to the Salvatore School, we saw Josie mention Damon and Elena's kids while explaining why the school is so hard up for money. Apparently, the Salvatores had been very generous to the school, but they had their own kids to take care of, confirming that at least in this alternate timeline, Delena had babies! In yet another alternate reality, Josie made mention of Stephanie Salvatore, who is almost definitely Damon and Elena's daughter.
11. Klaus and Caroline as "Enemies of the State" (Episode 10). In Lizzie's wish world where Hope was never born, Klaus turned off his humanity and started a war, outing supernaturals to the world. We saw his face on wanted posters, and a newspaper clipping had drawings of him and Caroline, declaring them enemies of the state. Some super industrious fans even zoomed in on the newspaper and discovered that Caroline was reference as "his wife, Caroline Mikaelson," revealing that in this world, they were married, giving a pretty major nod to the Klaroline romance that never quite got its time in the sun on The Vampire Diaries or The Originals.
12. Kai Parker footnote (Episode 10). When Alaric was researching The Merge, we saw his notes in the margins of the book, The History of the Gemini Coven. Kai Parker's name was scribbled in the margins next to the paragraph explaining The Merge and how the ritual pits twins against one another in a bid to rule the coven. Kai, the last leader of the Gemini coven and the twins' uncle, was the big bad of The Vampire Diaries Season 6, and he was locked away in a prison world (twice) to keep him from wreaking havoc on the world.
13. The painting Hope made with Klaus (Episode 12). While trying to determine who really set the fire that ruined Spring Break three years ago, Hope told Lizzie that the fire destroyed the only painting she ever created with her dad. Considering this fire predated The Originals final season, we can only assume she meant the watercolor painting she made with Klaus the day she first met him in The Originals Season 4.
14. The Crescent Pack (Episode 13). When M.G. went missing on spring break, Hope opted to use a "family recipe" from her mother's wolf pack, the Crescent Pack, that would allow Rafael to access his wolf mind while still in human form. In addition to their ability to turn at will, the Crescent Pack were once under a curse placed on them by Marcel which meant they were only human during the full moon and had to be in wolf form the rest of the month, which would have made this kind of recipe invaluable to them.
15. Caroline's ballgown (Episode 14). To help Hope's bid for the Miss Mystic Falls title, Lizzie lent her a gown that used to belong to her mother Caroline, but both girls only later found out that the dress was actually a gift from Klaus Mikaelson. On The Vampire Diaries, when Klaus was first trying to woo Caroline, he sent her this ballgown along with an invitation to his family's ball with a request to save him a dance.
16. Freya explains The Merge (Episode 15). When Lizzie clued Hope in on The Merge mystery, Hope called her Aunt Freya (Riley Voelkel) to ask if she knew what the ritual was and how it pertained to the Gemini Coven. Freya explained the truth — that Gemini twins have to overtake each other in a ritual when they turn 22 that kills one of them in the process. It's no wonder Freya had the answer given the Mikaelson's familiarity with siphoner witches.
17. The reverse Kyanite ring (Episode 15). After the Crescent Pack elixir muddled Raf's mind, Hope gave him a ring that let him shift into a wolf permanently instead of just on the full moon. She told him it's like a "reverse kyanite ring," which is used to stop wolves from shifting on the full moon. Said rings were developed in Season 1 of The Originals when Klaus was trying to win over the Crescent Pack.
18. "There's always a loophole." (Episode 16). The episode title of the Legacies Season 1 finale was one major homage to the mythology of both The Vampire Diaries and The Originals, which was based on the theory that nature always finds a balance. No supernatural being could ever be truly immortal because nature would create a loophole that provided a way to kill it in order to maintain balance; for the Original vampires that loophole was the white oak wood that could kill them, and for Malivore, it was Hope's existence as a tribrid of the three species that created it.
19. Wickery Bridge (Episode 16). In the season finale, Alaric got stuck behind a roadblock because the Triad blew up Wickery Bridge. Wickery Bridge was a staple of The Vampire Diaries as it was the site of the car crash that claimed the lives of Elena's parents and the crash where she later died and became a vampire. It also happened to be entirely made of white oak, the only wood that can kill an Original vampire, which is why Rebekah burned it to ash in Season 3.
20. The Travelers (Episode 16). The Triad used a creepy blood fountain to nullify the school's magic in the finale, which Alaric revealed to be a creation of a coven of witches called the Travelers. These witches were the big bad of The Vampire Diaries Season 5. A curse had been placed on their line centuries ago that prevented them from ever settling in one place, making them nomads. They specialized in body-jumping, doppelganger magic, and the previously-mentioned magic nullification.
21. The Ascendant (Episode 16). Alaric wasn't just keeping his daughters' Gemini heritage a secret from them, he was also hiding a mystical trinket called the Ascendant in his bookshelf. On The Vampire Diaries, the Ascendant was a magical device that allowed witches to harness a celestial event to create a portal to another world — in this case, the Ascendant Josie found was one she and her sister created as children to it could be used by Bonnie Bennett to imprison Kai Parker in a prison world in the final season of The Vampire Diaries.

Phases of the Moon
Tumblr media
A Jonsa Buffy The Vampire Slayer AU/inspiration
Summary: For some reason unbeknown to Sansa, the old gods had chosen her to be the next girl to have the power to stop the Wights and the Long Night.
But they shouldn’t have. Not this Stark girl at least.
No, Sansa just wanted to be on the cheer squad and get into a good college far from the North. This hadn’t come into the equation.
But neither had Robb’s best friend Jon, whose absentee father had shown up out of blue just shy of his eighteenth birthday and taken off with him. Now he was back and changed. He had come back wrong.
Chapter One: Changes
It shouldn't be Sansa. He had said that she was the chosen one, the man who was to be her watcher. She was the who would stand alone against the forces of darkness, to keep the long night at bay.
Yer right. They had clearly gotten it wrong somewhere. For she was not who anybody would have picked for this. She was the pampered princess, lips glossed, short skirt smoothed down and not a single curled hair out of place.
She certainly shouldn't be the only one in this generation that was for sure.  Mankind was doomed.
She was not a fighter. If it had to have been a Stark girl, then it should have been Arya. She feels guilty about how many times she had prayed before going to bed, which was somewhere around three in the morning now, for wanting it to be Arya.
Let it be her. Not this Stark. Let her be the chosen one and not me. You have it all wrong.
Sansa was only just seventeen, graveyard patrols, musty books on white walkers, grass stained jeans and hidden scratch marks should not be her life right now.
But then again, Arya was only fourteen years old and Sansa felt the shame burn in her every time she sent a whispered prayer to the old gods in her mind. Let it be her.
Arya was a fighter though, she told herself to provide some comfort. Just looking at her Sansa could tell she was a down in the mud, claws out, snarl on her face, fight to her last breath kind of girl.
Not like her, whose first instinct when she was told she had the power now to kill this creature had wanted to run. She took one look at its vacant ice eyes, to its chomping teeth that kept trying to sink into the flesh of her arm, to its grasping hands that wanted to rip her skin open and had thought about throwing this watcher into its jaws so she could run.
Even now, after doing this for a whole moons turn she had still not taken to it. She felt the power in her, but it felt disjointed, she was not connected to it. Maybe it knew she wasn't worthy.
Davos Seathworth, her watcher, was a firm but gentle man. He reminded her of her father, he was a just man but he also a realist. He said he understood how she must be feeling, she scoff in reply, how in the seven hells could he.
Every time he spoke of her new found powers and that she should be grateful of this gift she wanted to hit him. That would be wrong though, he was quiet old, ten years younger and she might have been tempted. But she likes to picture it though, like now as he babbles on about the origins of the long night and the many mystical mumbo jumbo forces connecting the Wights together to act as one entity, she wanted to sock him in the face.
The way she saw it was that her being the chosen one wasn't a gift, it was an early death.
She who was so full of life before and now she was just a shadow barely keeping it together. Nearly dying on weekly bases, flunking in school and seeing her friends was not something to celebrate and send thanks to the old gods for choosing her.
It was Friday, the last day of school before Christmas break and Davos was getting her prepared for a Wight hunt. For some reason once the dead were laid to rest in the dirt, they rose again to roam as mindless animals.
It was five-thirty and she was still at school in the library, she didn't even know this place existed until she had to report here to meet Davos. What a trainwreck her life was now.
Sansa had already managed to cram in a school day, a quick cheer practice on the field, all before she had head to the library and started her assignments set for the holidays.
The sun was just starting to set early now in fall just before six, when they were finishing their training session, she was about to duck out before she mentioned it.
"I need another weapon", she mumbled quietly hoping he wouldn't hear, but he did. He always did. His head shot around to her from where he was packing away exercise equipment and she cursed at him in her mind, for an old guy his hearing was exceptionally good.
And now five minutes later she was watching a currently red in the face Davos as he armed her with another dragon glass knife and kept repeating the importance of stowing away weapons safely and effectively. Its not her fault she had accidently misplaced her previous one somewhere, she was sure she would find it again.
"Uh-huh, thanks D. Definitely gonna take on board all those things about taking care of things. Bye." She made a break for it as soon as the black dagger was in her palm.
Just as the door was swinging shut she heard him mumble under his breath. "Gods, the world is in trouble."
Her senses had kicked into overdrive when it all happened. Her enhanced slayer hearing had helped her eavesdrop on many gossiping groups.
Sometimes she wished she couldn't hear everything. Davos could say what he liked she snivelled to herself. He wasn't the one who risked his life.
At the end of the night she bet he climbed into his cosy bed and slept like a baby. He was safe, all he did was tell her which cemetery had any recent burials in the city and sent her on her way. He didn't have to try at not falling behind in school, or keeping up with studying and homework, staying committed to cheer practice and make time for friends and family. He just had to watch.
And then there was him. Somebody who had grown up beside her her whole life, but who she had kept at a distant. Robbs best friend. Aryas hero. Bran and Rickons idol.
He never used to mean anything to her, the lack of any kind of relationship compared to her other Stark siblings had been a constant in her, she guessed even that had changed to.
Just like her position in the cheerleading team that Arya still scoffed at whenever she said she was going. They were going to drop her soon she was sure of it, she should have been taking over as captain in her senior year.
I mean sure her body had gotten stronger, she could now move it in ways she couldn't before, but she was distracted, turning up late and forgetting routines.
But back to one of the other thorns in her side. Jon bloody snow.
All she knew was,  in the summer at the end of his senior year of high school, around about the same time this whole destiny crap had happened to her,  his absentee father had shown up out the blue.
Jon had disappeared with him the day before his eighteenth birthday and Robb had been devastated that all their summer plans were ruined. It was as he called it there last hurrah before they went off to college.
Robb was just being dramatic of course, because they were both going to Castle College together up North, that was not even a two hour drive from Winterfell.
Jon had started the semester late and he returned back to Winterfell with Robb a few days ago ready for Christmas, and he had come back changed.
He had gotten taller, had a dark and troubled glint in his eyes now, but the main thing that had caught her attention was the muscles that now wrapped around his body. The other night when she had seen him she had stared a little too hard at his arms and how his t-shirt stretched around them too tightly. And he was, in shock to Sansa as she didn't think it could be possible, even more brooding.
She often daydreamed about that physique and those that penetrating  stare being aimed at her in the middle of calculus class. It wasn't like she was needed to know any of this stuff anymore.
Whenever he was in the house hanging around with Robb during  the past couple of days, the hairs on the back of her neck would rise and she knew he had walked into the room.
She should have know that it wasn't because she had finally noticed he was now hot and on her radar.
She had arrived home just in time for tea. Which as Stark tradition demands had to be eaten at the family dining table with no phones.
She felt like even in her home she was trying to play catch up, listening to all her siblings stories over their starter on how their days were and trying to give noises as her reply and ask appropriate questions at the end.
She feigned how excited she was at breaking up from school. She tried to pretend to be her old self, who had loved having lazy mornings and meeting friends for coffee and shopping as her only schedule. They would spend hours in the mall wandering aimlessly with not a care in the world.
Now she would have to play catch up on school work she was too tired to pay attention to in class, practice her cheer routines so she wouldn't be to far behind, train more with Davos who demanded more of her time now there was no school and still meet with friends for trips to the mall.
The air shifted when the door opened. Robb and Jon joining them for the main course after just getting back from a movie. At least Robb had thankfully dominated all the conversation to discuss the film, college, football and girls.
Her mind was either on her patrol tonight or how the stubble Jon had grown out suited that sharp jaw of his. She didn't know which thought worried her more.
They were getting to the end of their meal when she knew she had to make her excuses.
"Can I go over to Beth's tonight for a sleepover, so we can practice our new cheer routine?" She tried to make sure her voice was sugary sweet.
Arya laughs cruelly before butting in. Doesn't she know Sansa doesn't care for her opinion. "Its not the routine you all need help with, its the spelling. How hard is it to shout out names?"
That utter horse face, she seethed.
Robb and Jon both chuckle. She feels herself get embarrassed, her face heating up. She never used to be bothered with what Jon thought of her.
Her father, ever the mediator steps in. "You've been spending a lot of nights studying late or having sleepovers at friends lately, is everything okay".
That's funny, Sansa didn't think he even noticed. He of course had gone to several of her cheer performances, but she knew deep down he thought it was silly.
"I've always gone to sleepovers." And it was true. She was a social butterfly like her mother, people were drawn to her and she sometimes craved a crowd of people who hung on her every word. Or at least she used to.
"Not this many". Great her mum and dad were doing that back up thing again, were they ganged up on you.
Great, she was probably going to have to try to quietly sneak out. It was much easier to head straight out after dinner when the sun had set. Otherwise she would have to get her pyjamas on, get under the covers and snuggled down before her mother and father popped their head round the door to say goodnight.
She often nearly dozed off she was that comfy and tired. She often nearly started crying when she had to get of her silk pj's and back into clothes.
Her mother must take pity on her desperate expression and gives a curt agreement that she can go, but she is to be back in the morning early for family breakfast at 10.
She happily nods in reply before dashing off upstairs to fill a bag with what she calls a slayer survival kit. Extra thick jumper and socks, drinks, snacks, magazines and her dagger.
Jon's gaze follows her from the room and she has to try really hard to keep her head focused on getting up the stairs.
She might have taken a little longer to climb the stairs so Jon could get a good look at her long longs, even if she was in a rush to hit two separate cemeteries tonight for the two different burial sites.
She sighs heavily for the sixth time this hour alone. She checks her phone again, 1 o'clock. 1 o'clock in the bloody morning and this stupid corpse hasn't risen up yet. The other body at the grave site nearer the centre of town had risen at 10 sharp.
Obviously some Wights were more concerned with time management than others.
"Hurry up." She says tartly down at the freshly planted grave as though she can command it to rise. Doesn't it know she has better things to do like sleep and dream of a certain boy.
She rises from her squatted position, shoving the magazine she had read from front to back thoroughly two time already back in her bag.
She begins her warm up again, stretching her muscles repeatedly every fifteen minutes to keep herself ready, to help her remain awake and to warm her frozen limbs back up.
Tonight sucked. She left home at seven, instead of heading out she could have suggested a film night and slyly made sure her seat on the sofa was next to Jon's.
Well it was no use pouting over now.
She felt a nervous thrum in her chest. That same sort of hair raising, stomach sinking feeling that was usually an alarm bell sounding from within. Danger. She reached in her bag for the dragon glass because this Wight was sure to rise now.
The light smattering of snow on the ground made everything in here eerily silent.
As if it absorbed all the noise into it. It wasn't thick enough were it would crunch beneath her boots. Which is why she didn't hear the impact of foot falls behind her.
It confused her at first, why was the ground coming up to meet her face, it clicked a second later when she felt its ice blocks for arms weighing her down. Its foul and cold breath gave a weird sensation in her ear, as though when it snarled, outpoured snowflakes right into the shell of it and into her head making it heavy.
She hit the floor hard, harder with its body on top of her and an exasperated sound falls from her lips as her weapon tumbles a few feet in front of her. Her arms were trapped. All she could do was try to buck its body off of her as it tried to attack at her neck.
She dislodged it enough that she could use the strength in her thighs to launch it away with her feet. She threw it hard enough to hear a crack as it landed up against a tombstone.
She turned around crawling towards her weapon, but the thing had righted itself and grabbed a hold of her ankle pulling her away.
She cries out as if the world is truly against her as a hand breaks through the soil of the grave and out into the world.
Two of them in one cemetery, she had only ever gone one on one before. She felt a slight betrayal, Davos had only said two would rise tonight but at different sites. She had already taken care of the first one across town.
The other rose in the same amount of time it took for her to nearly grab at the dagger. They were freakishly fast for dead folk.
Kicking out her feet at the first so it couldn't grab hold of her leg again and pinning it up against the gravestone, leaves her a small chance to deal with the second as it launches itself at her.  She quickly finds purchase gripping a hold of its neck, her muscles begin to feel as though they are on fire at holding back the sheer strength the Wights posses.
But her other arm is free to grab her dagger. Which might be trickier than she first thought as it was still a little out of reach and she couldn't drag herself closer as the snow around them melts in the scuffle and makes the ground slippy.
She feels a tingle in her gut, a tell tale sign of alert for her and see's a shadow approaching them in her peripheral.
Oh gods, its another one. Three of them, I'll surely die.
All three would surround and pin her down, taking turns to bite chunks of her flesh.
Would she turn into one of these things after. Would her family have to go to the morgue to see her mangled, chewed up body. Gods, her family. Her mum, her dad.
Her heart pounded quickly but this thing approached slowly, crouching down just in front of her. What the hell.
Her heart is in her throat as she peels her eyes away from the monsters to stare into blue eyes. Not the ice blue of Wights but a deep, chocolate brown. Jon bloody Snows brown eyes, as they smirk down at her.
"Do you need some help sweet girl?"
Her eyebrows furrowed, was this a trick. Was Jon a bad guy all this time and she didn't know it. Her mind flashed to all the times he had come into a room and she had that feeling in her gut. She was sure it was a nervous flutter because of her huge crush.
She was so stupid. Her senses had been warning her this whole time and she was too distracted by him to realise.
It was surprising how good he obviously was at hiding this dark part of himself, he was someone who Sansa thought could be read like a book.
But he made no move to kill her though. And she really didn't know how long she could keep these two at bay. Was he really waiting for her to give an answer.
"Erm. Yes... please?".
He smiled down at her, she was courteous even as she was trying to keep deaths jaws pried open to stop it from swallowing her.
He rises up, finally stepping out of the shadows and into the light of moon. He looked less scary bathed in the moons glow.
Maybe he just happened to be in the neighbourhood? Even though he was sleeping at her house and it was 1 o'clock in the morning.
She tried to read his face but it remained blank, she truly didn't know what he was going to do. She had spent years around this man and in this moment she felt like she didn't know him.
He used his foot to nudge the dagger closer to her free arm, she sent a quick prayer to the gods.
Before she could even look to grab it, Wight number two had slipped from her grasp.
She grabs the weapon and tackles it to the floor, as she goes to slam the dagger in its chest a body flies through the air beside her.
The Wight she has a hold of shrieks as it breaks down, as if it was entirely made of ice, she then turns to face the one beside her.
The one that's probably killed Jon. It was all her fault, she was sure if Arya was the slayer she could take on five whole Wights at once. She wanted to lay down at cry. He was dead.
Only, it was brown eyes not blue eyes she looked upon beside her.
"Oh- you're not dead". Well done Sansa, great deduction there. He probably already thinks you're some dumb cheerleader.
His lips quip up in a half smile, but before she can say anything to him again they both turn to the Wight that's screeching a  few graves away. It almost sounded as if it was in pain, and she reprimands herself for being sloppy in forgetting about the thing for even a second.
How did it even get a few gravestones over? She recalls it, a body being flung in the air. She thought it was Jon's though, what with the Wights inhuman strength.
"How did you throw it off that far?" She's swallows nervously, back to being worried about him.
He merely shrugs. She was sure he used to talk more than this, even if it was rarely to her.
She cautiously approaches the Wight, looking as though it was writhing on the ground. She brings her dagger up ready to embed it in its chest, it was grasping at a bite mark on its own neck, screeching out before it turned to ice flakes blowing in the wind.
Why did it have a bite mark on its neck? How did it die without being killed by dragonglass? What was Jon doing here?
She held the pointy end of the dagger towards him. He knew something. Nobody who had just witnessed all this would be okay right now. He clearly knew Wights existed. He wasn't afraid. Sansa even thinks he just killed that one somehow.
She knew that there were other bad things in the world. Other monsters. And maybe he was one. How else could he have thrown that Wight so far.
Was she going to have to kill Robbs best friend?
"What. Are. You". There was no time for niceties, she had too many questions swirling around in her mind.
"I could ask you the same thing. What's Robbs little sister doing in a cemetery fighting monsters in the middle of the night". He takes a step closer to her then, she feels the heat coming off him in waves. Did he always run this hot? Was he sick?
He takes another step towards her approaching her as though she were a skittish doe. She wants to take one back because they're nearly touching, she feels the ghost of his touch brush her arms.
He's too close, he'll muddle her head up because all she know see's is him, all she hears is his heart beating fast, too fast. His scent floods all around her and she can only focus on him.
He puts a finger to her chin and tilts her head up to the sky.
He leans down and whispers in her ear, "Its almost a full moon".
Was that a fact or a warning. She didn't know, he was hard to understand. Boys were hard to understand at the best of times.
She stares at the moon, she never notices its phases, why would she ever need to bother. Looking at it now she could see it was almost there. On the cusp of being round and full.
She looks to him as he takes a step back, his pupils are wide as they gaze up at the sky.
He cuts down to her quick and sharp. The he grins. A wide one showing off pointed teeth that gleam in reflection of the light.
And she just knows again, that her whole world has shifted for a second time in her life, everything she knew would change once more.

Fixing Krystal
Despite her popularity, Krystal is easily the most divisive, most controversial character in StarFox. She is worthy of criticism, as the adaption of her character is a far cry from perfect, but I think she gets more scrutiny than she’s earned. The issues with her character I think are easy fixes, and I also want to talk about how the better parts of her character can be adapted to work better. I will be going into depth so this will be quite…long… Her contribution to the World/Setting: What we have: Adventures brought in weird magic, and shows Krystal dressed in rather primitive garb. However, doesn’t necessarily mean she herself is primitive. We know nothing about Cerenia, (Put lots of pins in that). Krystal having powers? That isn’t that out of nowhere in StarFox, in fact: weird Fantasy or Paranormal elements have been in StarFox long before Krystal showed up. Examples: In SNES, (Route 3, Meteo 2) there is a weird bird-like creature that appears in the asteroids and sends you into a warp that abruptly ends the game. In Adventures, it’s similar to when the warpstone sends Fox through a warp. Warping in StarFox has always seemed to involve a strange surreal otherworldly dimension. There are also strange static-shaded objects that attack the player in SF64 during warps (Sectors X, Z, and Meteo) . James Mccloud appears as a ghost in SF64, and guides Fox out to escape Andross’s subterranean base as it explodes. In terms of powers; across his appearances, Andross has insanely powerful telekinetic powers, can shoot lasers out of his eyes, can shoot lightning from his fingers etc. Krystal having to use a staff to shoot fire, ice, and project shields isn’t that much of a stretch. How it can be better: Whether this is done through a sequel or a reboot, adapting Cerenia, and some Dinosaur Planet lore to fit the StarFox universe isn’t hard. There are ruins all over on Titania and Venom in SF64 (and later Assault), maybe they relate to Krazoa Palace, and the Cerenians, there are dozens of ways to write some interesting ancient space-civilization stuff in there. I think the most obvious way to fit Krystal in the universe, in a way that benefits her character, and Andross as a villain, is establishing that Cerenia was destroyed by Andross. It was vaguely implied in a cutscene in Adventures where Krystal seems to recognize Andross’s spirit shortly before he trapped her in that crystal prism. (Put a pin in that). Role on the team: What we have: I think the Telepath role in Assault works, it was something that Krystal could do since the original Dinosaur Planet after all. The ability is something that she can do that no one else can, it’s just that it was severely underdeveloped and underutilized. Occasionally Krystal points out obvious weak points to bosses, dialogue: “I can feel it, the weak point is at the top!” against the first Aparoid boss on Fortuna, “The weak point is at the top!” on Katina’s boss, or against the Aparoid Queen: “Fox, blast that red section!”. Other times where her telepathy is used; She senses an enemy squadron waiting for them on the other side of a door on Fortuna, senses targets within the base interior on Katina, and “Senses faint brain patterns” when the team sees abandoned Wolfens adrift on Mission 5 Meteo. The big time her telepathy is used, is during the cutscene right after Mission 5. She interrupts everyone while they were talking to General Pepper, to tell them that she was sensing a distress signal from planet Sauria. It had her totally shifting the entire scene from celebration of success, to a sudden rise of more danger. It would have been great if there was a lot more of that with Krystal. How it can be better: Krystal’s use of telepathy in-gameplay has minimal effect, it is essentially the same thing as what Peppy does, only Peppy uses intuition to examine a situation rather than having powers to examine something. Many people didn’t like that Krystal essentially hijacked Peppy’s role, having her in an Arwing while Peppy was on the Great Fox didn’t help. I think there are ways to have them both knee deep in the action, the word “replaced” should be avoided. Nobody’s replacing Peppy, she’s just a new asset for the team. Say in a game similar to StarFox 2 (The kind I’m hoping for), it would be cool if the player is allowed to pick 4 pilots from an expanded team of roughly 8: Fox, Falco, Slippy, Peppy, Miyu, Fay, Fara and Krystal. (going into detail on the others is a post for another day), Krystal’s special; is that she can tell the player when and where enemies will show up ahead of time, perhaps a blue glow appears as the outline of the enemy type at the location on the map where they are likely to appear. Essentially, Krystal can telepathically sense thoughts from across space, this might be a bit of a stretch. We can probably also keep Krystal giving Fox obvious warnings on bosses or enemies ahead, probably swap around with Peppy doing similar. Remember when I mentioned Cerenia? We know nothing about what it looks like, we can easily assume it was a technologically advanced civilization similar to Corneria, but their technology is almost more mystical. We already know Krystal’s staff is powered by crystals that the player has to gather, so it uses a fuel source. Perhaps this is the basis of most of their technology. On top of that, perhaps Cerenians’ use of telepathy goes hand in hand with their technology, ESP basically. Krystal being the last of her kind would be a huge boon to the team if that were the case, especially if Venomians were after it. (Something I’ll bring up later). Her plot, her mannerisms, dynamic with the team and character interactions: What we have: Cerenia was literally only mentioned in the manual, most of Krystal’s backstory being raised by Randorn, and her quest to save Dinosaur Planet (now called Sauria) was utterly cut. It was mentioned she was looking for her PARENTS, only for all of that to be utterly abandoned the moment Krystal is trapped, and it is never brought up again, ever. As I mentioned earlier, Krystal adds tiny tiny bits to the plot using her telepathy, other than the one shift to danger leading into mission 6 in Assault, other than that, she sorta takes a backseat sadly. In terms of her interactions, in Adventures, we see her as friendly and kind, speaking to a fallen Earthwalker, and being more than willing to help. She defiantly tells-off Scales the moment she met him, and also declares “We will never kneel to you!” When Andross is re-awakened, although it wasn’t revealed to be him quite yet, at least not to Fox, AKA, the Player. Later in Assault, she retains being fairly sugary sweet, and becomes almost of a mommy figure. She softly scolds Slippy or Falco. “This happens because you’re reckless, be more careful!”. She is at least able to disagree with Fox, when he was going down to the surface on Katina to investigate the mystery on Katina-base, she says “By yourself? It’s too dangerous, I’m going too..” sadly, he tells her that he wants them in Arwings as cover, and she doesn’t have anything left to say. She became very passive compared to Adventures, where she promptly snatches her staff away from Fox to fire wildly at Andross. Although, she did seem proud of her combat abilities on foot, like dialogue: “I’m becoming an expert marksman, aren’t I?”, “I won’t be beaten by the likes of these things.” Krystal can be sweet and friendly, but she needs to have some feistiness to her too. She does retain some of this whenever Panther hits on her, she either ignores him, or sarcastically blows him out of the water. Even saying “As long as I’m covering Fox..” in an angry tone. A nice case of her defiance, and her loyalty to Fox, but that leads us to another problem, I’ll get to that in a sec… We never learn anything about what really motivates her, only that she seems to care about the team, care about others, and Sauria. Some more dialogue: “We WILL save Sauria, just you watch and see!!” “Poor beautiful Sauria, they won’t get away with this.” “All we can do is hope for their safety!”. Of course, most of her screen time is taken up by her practically throwing herself at Fox. She is obsessively romantic over him and it overshadows the entire rest of her character by a pretty wide margin. Although, the best part of that downfall to her character, is that she does reject Panther a bit, she even convinced him to tell them where Pigma was… the idea was good, but we could have gotten much more dialogue banter that leads her to tricking Panther’s one-track-mind into helping them. How it can be better: Adapting her backstory with Randorn (as brief off-screen events) could do her wonders, her homeworld was utterly destroyed by Andross; the big villain of the universe. Andross wanted to research their unique psionic powers, and upon finding a way to gain this power, he had them wiped out to keep them from aiding Corneria in the coming Lylat War. Krystal, once aware of this, knows that she is all alone and has nowhere to go or be. Fox is the first person she meets (Adventures timeline), and is perhaps the only person she trusts at first. He introduces her to the StarFox team, and she suddenly now has friends and family. Krystal shouldn’t mommy the team members, but she should be sensitive to when they are in danger, and desire for their safety. I’m not against her romance with Fox, but her romantic implications with Fox should either be drastically reduced or ousted altogether. The fans can take care of that… She can still be defiant and headstrong in the face of villainy. Krystal could become very important whenever Cerenian technology or cosmological phenomenon come into play. Cerenian technology could have refined warping or shielding technology. For example, if a shield protecting Corneria fails, the team, and their other friends could find a way to make a shield from Cerenian tech. Krystal alone has access to it. Remember that Crystal that turned her into an infamous damsel in distress in Adventures? Imagine if those were some kind of interface for Cerenian technology; one that puts users in suspended animation and can be dangerous and painful for untrained users. Perhaps Krystal uses that very thing to create a shield and project it over the planet, similar to what her staff can do. The overview here, is that elements of Dinosaur Planet can be adapted to fit the StarFox Universe, and keep Krystal from appearing out-of-place. Using some of those elements, and what was done well in Assault to better justify her presence, give Krystal something to do, and a doorway through which she can affect the plot, or gameplay much more than she did. Treating her backstory, and the fact she is last-of-her-kind should be integral to her motivation, and interactions with other characters.

Authors note : I am so Sorry that this took so long!! I also hope you enjoy it! I’m a huge Klaus and Caroline shipper! And I absolutely LOVE the Mikaelson brothers! Elijah, Klaus and Caroline deserve better! Hopefully you like this imagine!
⚠️ warning: Not really.
Number count: 1889
**********imagine **************** You know Klaus since he showed up in mystic falls. He has always found Caroline to be a beautiful vibrant women. You found Caroline too be a stuck up, perfectionist. But you Knew it was because she doubted herself. So you tried not to let her annoy you. It helped that you weren’t friends with Caroline so you didn’t spend much time with her. Everyone who knows Klaus knows he fancy Caroline since meeting her. When klaus met you. He was attracted too your kindness. Unlike Elena, Caroline, basically everyone connected to the doppelgänger Elena. You didn’t have a twisted agenda. Caroline trying too save her boyfriend from Klaus. (You understood why everyone hated Klaus but you saw thru him. Seeing the real Klaus) You were the only person Klaus could talk to. Without having a hidden agenda. You didn’t want blood, or money or anything all you wanted too do was talk about your passions Art, music , History. And Klaus was intoxicated by your curious mind. And your Kind heart. Everyone tried too convince you too stay away from him. Elena, Caroline, Tyler, Jeremy, Damon, Bonnie, the only one who almost convinced you was Stefan. But he got distracted By Elena and Damon so you were able too leave the conversation.
You Simply saw Klaus as Klaus. A Monster. But redeemable. He’s siblings soon realized you were a good inferences on their baby brother so they fully accepted you into their little family. His siblings Elijah , and Rebecca enjoyed your company. Kol was fascinated by your loyal and gentle heart. Rebecca Enjoyed your innocence and Taste in fashion. Elijah for your Mind and how you were Showing Klaus the world for the first time. when graduation happened. Klaus declared to Caroline that she might of loved Tyler but he intended to be her last love. You overheard and was swooned hearing it. And was stunned seeing how Caroline didn’t take up Klaus offer. Klaus decided for a graduation present he would give Caroline a bunch of money. And Give you a Plane ticket to New Orleans. Klaus offered the world too both Caroline and yourself. She didn’t accept. But you did. You a human girl proved over and over again that Klaus was redeemable. Elijah and Rebecca accepted you as a member of the family. Rebecca shopped with you. Making you gain more confidence. Elijah helped you study for tests at the local collage you attended. You were all a complicated family the happiness was destroyed by accident. Davina and Kol did a spell, trying too get ride of Klaus The spell was suppose to Kill him instantly . But it hit you. Klaus barely shoved blood down your throat before you died. And when you woke up. He didn’t give you a option too other die a human or too be turned. You woke up. And Klaus instantly shoved human blood down your throat. Simply saying “I can’t live without you Y/n. Forgive me.” Three months passed. Your “day time ring” was a beautiful simple Ruby necklace. Klaus said it use to be worn by a beautiful princess who was always surrounded by handsome suitors. Today klaus was back. Since becoming a vampire you changed. Not just physically but mentally. You were still caring and the gentlest soul Klaus ever met. But now your confidence skyrocketed. But your fighting skills? Not so much! Klaus insisted on Training you too fight. You tried convincing Klaus to let Elijah to teach you. Mainly since you figured Elijah would be a kinder more gentle teacher vs Klaus. You almost had him convinced till he got into a heated debate with Caroline who dating Stefan or was trying too? Honestly Caroline love life was almost as complicated as Elena’s love life. But either way Klaus refused to listen too either you or Elijah when you both suggested to let him teach you. So here you are! standing in a closed room. Everyone was out enjoying the bright beautiful day. While Klaus was huffing and puffing annoyed at Caroline, he just returned from Mystic falls where he got into a huge debut with Caroline about Elena. And Stefan. You tried staying out of all topics surrounding Elena. Mainly because you couldn’t find the attraction both Salvator brothers had for her. Or what Matt saw in her. You aren’t close with Caroline or Elena. Bonnie on the other hand? You were great friends with Bonnie!. Either way you aren’t going too have a great practice with Klaus. He was frustrated and you knew this wasn’t going too end up with you being sore. And begging for Elijah too take over.!
Klaus spoke up, snapping you out of your thoughts. Too hear His British charming accent. It always made you lean a bit closer to hear him speak. you loved hearing him talk. When you first became friends with Klaus you got sick. And Klaus read the Hobbit too you. While you rested in bed. So you listened too him whenever possible. Especially now when you here. About too Fight Him. “you are my responsibility, Y/N. There will be hundreds of people who would love too rip you too pieces just because of Me.” Klaus walked around you. Trying to frighten you. It didn’t work. Even when you were human and his vines turned all black around his eyes. You were’t scared of him. Klaus grabbed your shoulder turning you around too face him. “Fighting is rhythm. There is a music , there is a pattern. You have too fight. Or you will die!” You rolled your eyes, pushing his hands off your shoulders, “Why? You can just fight them? Besides who would dare fight me? Everyone is terrified of you!” “exactly. What would happen if the wolves. Capture you too get too me? Or the witches?” Sighing heavily you understood. Klaus can’t protect you from everything. Even those you knew no one would be stupid enough too risk the Rath of Klaus. You simply Nodded your head fast., taking a step back to take a stance saying you were ready. Klaus grinned as you swinger a pouch at him. He easily blocked it. “You have too do it better! Y/N!” Swinging your fist towards your best friend, to only have it caught it with ease. Klaus pinned you against a brick wall. Pressing you against It. Moving your hair from your shoulders. He waited a moment just looking at you till he spoke in a low voice. “Come Now love. You can do better then that.”
Breaking free from his grip. You turned yourself around, too shoved him hard, Klaus took three steps backwards as you charged him. He broke free from your attack. Screaming “ Do better y/n!” You charged again getting him this time. You Pinned Klaus against the same wall he pinned you at. Klaus grinned brightly feeling your hand at his heart. “Good.” Looking up at his eyes. His beautiful enchanting eyes. He grabbed your elbow. “Good. , you did good.. Don’t be afraid to go for the kill.” “I’m not going too rip your heart out!” Klaus grinned reaching up touching your face with his free hand. He’s eyes soften. He smiled softly looking at his favorite being on the entire planet. The sweet girl who has touched every member of his family. Who taught him how too change diapers for Hope. Who has personality helped him stay good. And showed him to change his ways. He vowed too protect you for the rest of your life. A human mortal life. Which was ruined. But now he had too break the sweetness of you.. To help you survive where everyone outside of the house. He and his family had thousands of enemies now he had too teach you too survive. Looking down at your hand right in front of his hand hand. Breathing deeply you couldn’t harm Klaus not in the way he wanted you too. He noticed your hesitation. He sighed moving his hand too your wrist. Looking at you. “You have too.. to Survive.” Shaking your head fast. “Nope.. I can’t-“ moving your hand back he placed it back too his Chest as he reached back placing your hand back too his Chest. “You have too.. our enemies wont take it easy just because your beautiful.” “Klaus.. I can’t-“ “Love.. Do it!” You closed your eyes for a second before you pushed your hand thru his cage. Hearing him groaning loudly you opened your eyes seeing him gasping for air. Until he pulled you into a kiss. Which started you. It made you stop holding his heart as he cupped your face. You pulled back looking at him. Klaus looked at you valuable you couldn’t believe he kissed you. And you couldn’t believe how. Fragile he looked. You never seen him look so valuable. You grabbed his face with both hands pulling him into another kiss. Vampires feel things ten times more then humans. A little crush felt like full blown love. And being in love is incredible. You pulled back. Looking at Klaus ripping his shirt completely off. He grinned flashing that devilish smile. Before pulling you into another kiss. He turned you both around fast so your back was against the wall. As he ripped your shirt off before kissing you back. You smiled into the kiss as he pressed himself close too you. “Klaus?” You both pulled back. Stunned seeing Caroline standing there. Right at the doorway. You quickly tried to close together your ripped apart your shirt too have some Dignity. Also so Caroline doesn’t notice your Black sport bra. Klaus sighed heavily as he spoke “what is it Caroline?” “I need Help. Stefan is missing.” Klaus surprised you. And Caroline with his response “well. I’m a tad busy at the moment Caroline.” Caroline rolled her eyes saying she was serious she needed his help when she noticed you. “Holly Crap! Y/N you’re a vampire?” Nodding your head weakly she shook her head stepping closer too Klaus, “Klaus I need your help please!” Klaus sighed heavily as he spoke, “like always Caroline your timing is horrible!” He turned too face you kissing you. It was a quick kiss but he made sure it was passionate. As he cupped your face, “I’ll find you in a bit. After Caroline and her dramatic life dilemma is done. Then we can finish.” “training or this?” You asked as he grinned ignoring Carolines huffs and Puffs as he kissed you quickly, “Both.” You laughed at that as Klaus escorted Caroline out of the room. You breathed deeply and debated on other going for a 7 mile run too work out your now Frustration or a freezing cold shower!. You decided both.

TTS Flag Friday: The District of Nocturne
The district flag of Nocturne is split into three triangular sections by a jagged orange border that crosses the flag in a “V” shape. The lower-left and lower-right triangles are both black and contain an outstretched hand, the left a troll’s grey and the right a leprechaun’s green. The central triangle is white and contains the national symbol of the seven-toothed cog, colored the same orange as the V-shaped border. The border has eight diamond protrusions that all point upwards into the white triangle’s space. The shape of the border is meant to symbolize disaster, partly by taking the shape of rising flames and partly by mimicking the shape of the Clockwork Network.
The design is inspired firstly by geography. The hands are colored according to Nocturne’s neighbor districts; from inside Nocturne looking towards the center of Tick-Tock Town, troll-majority Alterneo lies to the west and leprechaun-majority Emerald lies to the east, with Central lying beyond both of them.
The flag’s design is also meant as a promise to the citizenry of Nocturne, lost in the wake of the destruction caused by Clocknet. A promise that, in their time of need, they will be offered a charitable hand to guide them out of darkness, though their personal disasters, and into the light. In this reading the hands represent protection from all matters, physical, financial, or otherwise.
At the height of Tick-Tock Town’s development, it slowly started to expand westward along the coast, creating a pocket of buildings between Alterneo and the Emerald Quarter that matched neither the former’s stark brutality nor the latter’s extravagance. For this reason it was split from both into a new district, relatively small but as the city was still planning on growing it was expected that this little district would grow along with it. That district was named Nocturne, as it was (and is) the only district in the city not to share a border with Central (being metaphorically “in the dark”), with “oct” being a clever nod to its status as the eighth district. Shortly after its inception, however, that district would begin a long history of misfortune, tragedy, confusion, and unexplainable circumstances that would lead to the name most residents of Tick-Tock Town refer to it as today: Wrecked.
Nocturne had only a few years to set itself up, barely any time to establish an identity for itself outside of cultural hand-me-downs from its neighboring districts, before the city underwent the most important event in its history since its founding. The emergence of the Clockwork Network caused massive damage across the city, but few had damages on the level that Nocturne did. From the perspective of its inhabitants, the great machine passed over the Emerald Quarter and to make up lost time did double time on their side of town. The riches that the Emerald Quarter carried over turned to ruin, and any vicious streak descendent from Alterneo was declawed, all of it tumbling into the mechanical bowels of the worming menace.
Even before Clocknet trashed the district and made people wary of coming to it, citizens living in and visiting Wrecked could feel something off about the place. Nothing on the surface seemed wrong, but something invisible pervaded through the whole district, like a foul smell that can’t be placed or a noise that appears and disappears with no cause. People would usually lay some blame at the base of two famous landmarks in the district: the Black Dome and the Asclepius Clocktower. The former, a small park and grim rotunda topped by the titular dome; the latter, a two-faced tower in the shape of intertwined serpents. Both monuments from an outside perspective seem to be placed completely naturally but defy explanation upon closer inspection, namely their construction. As the buildings of Nocturne were erected, the two monuments seem to have simply appeared overnight while nobody noticed. Plans and blueprints for them exist at the district Vice-Mayor’s office, certainly, but no construction crew can claim to have built them and no artists have stepped forward to explain some of their stranger quirks, like the Asclepius Clocktower being completely silent and having no doors to enter it. They’re just...there, exuding an ominous aura onto the surrounding area and frightening away city residents who can’t even describe what they’re frightened of.
There are other factors to Wrecked’s wrecked reputation that are equally spiritual. It’s a district that citizens contradictorily call a haunted place and as one so eerie that even ghosts dread to haunt it (a statistically invalid claim; there’s just as many ghosts and demons here as anywhere else in Tick-Tock Town). People claim to hear whispers when nobody is around. They claim to see people running around at the corners of their vision that bear an uncomfortable resemblance to themselves or people they know. On electronic media they claim to speak to people that don’t really exist and can’t be found again afterwards. They make many claims of strange occurrences, all of them questionable, but as far as the city is concerned they’re nothing more than hearsay. They’ve had enough issues trying to get Wrecked back into shape and solving the tangible societal issues going on without worrying about imaginary specters or deconstructing why buildings exist.
The empty homes littering the district were emptying the city’s coffers, both from keeping them in a livable state and from kicking out the squatters moving in. Once word of Wrecked’s status as an ostensible ghost town spread, an influx of citizens desperate enough to brave its haunts and impoverished enough to lack any other options started to move in in droves. It became such a problem that the city considered a martial solution to keep homes available but thankfully for all parties involved, political or otherwise, a different solution was proposed. In an uncharacteristic turn of good luck, a recent series of political assassinations and intrigue ended with the current Vice-Mayor of Wrecked coming into office, and he was far more understanding of the citizen’s plight than prior holders of his title. Upon convincing the rest of the governing bodies of the district and the city that it would be more efficient economically to simply pay these wayward folk to maintain the houses in exchange for living in them (with government supervision and inspection, naturally), Wrecked instituted a massive overhaul of how it operated. The ultimate plan they went with made a lot of people happy, except for the city aristocracy who were (and are) still mad about it and to this day endeavor to have the policy revoked.
In a post-Reconstruction world, Nocturne is perhaps the plainest of Tick-Tock Town’s eight districts. There’s no great seats of power here, no communal ports, no magnificent factories, no elaborate bio-organic beautification, no labyrinthine vicious streets, no wild neon-lit boulevards, and no mystical schools of magic to be found. Its architecture was designed to be quickly-built and efficient over any aesthetic values, and with city aristocrats long since having scorned the district, any wealth has had to come from the ground up instead of being handed down. It’s a side of town that never had the chance to decide what it was before disaster ripped it apart, and it had to build its identity in misfortune’s wake. Few call by it by its true name even after its worst days ended. Some call it Wrecked with a sneer, dismissing it as a nowhere district for nobodies to languish in obscurity; others call it Wrecked with a smile, a wink and a nod towards the long struggles it has ceaselessly fought to overcome. It’s a humble lot that live in Nocturne: the orphaned, the unwanted, the unseen. They’ve all done their part to make a place where they can support each other in their personal crises, a place where they’re needed and taken care of, and a place that, above all else, they can call home.
