shadow and silver grew up in like. polar opposite environments. the coldness of space vs the goodamn fire apocalypse. structed routine vs total chaos in a ruined society. being told you were created for a specific purpose, made to be a specific thing, vs being born a nobody who decided to take action. all shadow could see on the ark was endless space and all silver could see in the ruined future was ash and smoke blocking out the sky

sonic calling tom and maddie, "dad" and "maddie" pretty much somes up all the characters and their relations to each other. theres sonic! theres tom, sonics dad! and theres maddie, tom's wife

saw a post that was like "its weird how in the series sonic calls tom 'dad' but still calls maddie by her first name" and like. its misogyny im so sure of it. they do not care about the female characters, and dont care about showing and developing sonic's relationships to the female characters. maddie as a character is no where nearly as important as tom is to sonic and never will be. sonic calling tom "dad" was a Big Moment, and now him continuing to call him dad is significant. him calling maddie "mum" will not have the same impact bc, once again, shes insignificant compared to tom
