How do you push past writing block I've been stuck in purgatory for like 4 months now 💪
If I honestly had a foolproof answer for that I’d be writing so much you have no idea.
But, I do have some methods that I use when I’m feeling stuck.
Try other art: you can get exhausted trying to bang your head against that wall forever and it’s sometimes a sign to switch gears. I like to switch between drawing, making friendship bracelets, or embroidery! It helps me clear my head out and still feel like I’m making something!
New music: I often find inspiration in music, so I do my best when I’m in a rut to start searching for more inspiration!
Listen/consume something new: recently I’ve been listening to The Magnus Archives and it really kickstarted my brain! I love the way that they write the horror and the cadence/pacing is phenomenal. I also reread Gideon the Ninth and that was another great inspiration! Any way is good in terms of broadening your horizons!
Reread your old stuff: remember what made you happy when you completed that project. You did kinda write this stuff for you, enjoy it!
Take it easy on yourself: it’s not going to come back all at once or easily every time (given that you’ve said it’s been four months, I get it). One step at a time. Transitional periods in life, mental stuff, school, work, these can all get in the way and make it hard to have the energy to put pen to paper (metaphorically or literally).
Little exercises: try a new technique or genre you haven’t done before, write a poem or a song, journal, write some nonfiction, shake things up. Find an ask game and throw the ideas in a randomizer and see what you get!
I hope these help! I’m still working through my own slump (when am I not lol) but these are just some things that I do.

Self Reflection
This Blog is related to my experience from the previous semester in Graphic design and Branding course. My courses included Advanced design skill lab, design practice 1 and research method which assist me a lot to find out my potentials and interests.
I start off with research method by pointing out some of my work during the semester.
Tumblr media
Mind map
Here is the subject called balance in design .I chose this because of the fact that designing Logo is my all time favourite part of design.
This part assisted me to broaden my horizons regarding features of a good design. Then all of these research helped to reach a point to be aware of other parameters and other parts in branding ,By doing this I was able to get more Information through research about this Industry.
The Project made a path In order to first do research as many as possible and dive into a design problem in the first place and understanding what is going on in the specific area and It's Problems. All the subject and studies helped to narrow down a single issue instead of thinking generally and searching facts instead of assumption and Conjectures. Speaking of other subjects I mention design Skill lab project had important role to form my interest and to make improvements.
PHOTOGRAPHY
These class was a great opportunity to look at things differently and recognizing small details in a creative way, not just in photography but in finding solutions and see problems with a new filter.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
1.How far can YOU go...
2.DEPTH
3.Have I cried too much?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Black & White
Photography sessions reflect the meanings behind things, To be more precise, I became a better observer and pay more attention to details and happenings around me, Behaviours, colours, positions and etc..
Another part in Skill lab classes was the Design thinking part, which completely changed my mindset .
The Quantity over Quality mindset:
This is a way of brainstorming in design. One of methods was the 8 crazy Ideas and by doing this I realized even my low level suggestions and drawings can lead to a great result no matter how bad they are.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The crazy8 Idea for logo( design studio practice 1)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
2 Ideas out of the technique.
Another crucial point In that semester for me specially in designing was that It is of importance to consider the target audience preferences ,not my own taste.
Of course that is Important to have my own style ,however customer's taste ought to be the 1st step to consider and combining it with my own unique style of work. As I mentioned earlier, Being a good observer is crucial as other parts in design and branding.
So I learned If I need to focus on a special area or target audience, I need to do the observations of that specific subject.
If my project is going to be related to Teenagers, Research and observations are important in this stage before finding solutions.
Tumblr media
Direct observation of a teenage movie
All of the subjects In the previous semester were connected and had a point .The process of Designing and design thinking taught me to find my own style and Interest .
As for the future goals Skill lab sessions were much more related to what I want to become down the road; by all trainings, paths, thinking strategies..

Final Synopsis
hello my precious reader, Greener.
this would be the last blog for this module sadly :( but In the module, I finally have the excuse to get myself to stay away from my house and conduct some fantastic research. Like a record store, an exhibition, or even a library. I got to see the city a bit more since I just moved to the UK a week before the session started, and I also got to make something I had always wanted to attempt to try as a graphic designer. This module has opened up my perspective on exploring materiality and has allowed me to experiment with new mediums and techniques, enhancing my ability to communicate my ideas effectively. Overall, this module has enriched my working methods and broadened my creative understanding, encouraging me to think critically and expand my horizons as a graphic designer. The most challenging part of the module has to be the group sessions and activities. I have to communicate with someone with whom I have never ever talked before, but I try to crack a lot of jokes while I am with them to lessen the awkwardness in the group, but it was tiring none the less. But with QOR, I was able to settle on my question quite early on because I knew I wanted to do something physical and touchable, so that led me to do materiality. Not only that, I was really interested in whether digital art was a physical object at the time, so it was kind of a no-brainer if I didn't choose this. Even though I mentioned that I did not enjoy the group session since I had to speak with a person I had never spoken to before, this is a positive thing. It broadens my understanding and enables me to take into account many perspectives, which eventually improves my own creativity. I may also develop my communication abilities and make contacts with other like-minded creatives by taking part in group conversations.
As part of the module, I created a blog, something I had previously attempted as a graphic designer. I wanted to demonstrate my progress on my job, so I attempted and failed right away. As someone who isn't very vocal about my progress, I just keep it in my head, but this module gave me the opportunity to try it again, and surprisingly, it went better than every other time, so I'm glad this module gave me the opportunity to jot down all my progress, thoughts, and ideas into a blog. It was much easier for me to arrange my ideas and choose the next step in my work progress. I enjoy writing blogs in general. Blogging helps me to freely express myself and share my experiences and expertise with others. It also allows me to assess my development and obtain a better grasp of my work. Furthermore, blogging has also helped me to improve my writing skills and articulate my thoughts more effectively. Through regularly writing and sharing my ideas, I have become more confident in expressing myself. Overall, blogging has proven to be a valuable tool for personal growth and continuous learning.
If I had more time, I would have loved to delve deeper into the sound visualizer. I found it to be a fascinating topic and believe it would have added an interesting dimension to my work. Unfortunately, due to time constraints, I was only able to scratch the surface of this subject. Nevertheless, I am grateful for the opportunity to have explored it, albeit briefly, and I hope to revisit it in the future to enhance my understanding and skills.
And lastly, from this module, researching materiality has impacted my working methods more than I thought it would. I have worked with physical things before, but this has just changed my point of view and picked materiality as my topic, which has really given me the chance to explore the world of materiality in a whole new light. It has made me realize the significance of materials in our everyday lives and how they can shape our experiences and interactions. I have learned to appreciate the complexity and diversity of materials and how their properties and characteristics can be utilized to create innovative and sustainable solutions.
Overall, I really had fun with my QOR module; it taught me a lot of things, and I got to learn more about myself as a person.

So, there’s this reply to that “do you ever read you friend’s writing and you wonder why they even put up with you” post, about how that’s an unhealthy attitude that will only hurt both you and your friend, even if you pass it off as a joke. About how you should try to better your writing because you love writing and it gives you joy and improving makes you feel proud, not because you keep comparing yourselves to others or because you’ve been told you can’t be too confident in your achievements and now think hating everything you create is the way to improve when it’s really just a way to both destroy your self-esteem and make creating unnecessarily difficult. And the thing is, I agree with it. The wording feels a bit harsh to me, but I’m kind of an oversensitive softie, and I suppose people do need a good kick in the pants once in a while. And I really do agree.
I think love is fundamental, and if you don’t love writing or what you write, you should either stop or take a good, long pause to figure out if you can love it, again or at all. I write because I love it. Or at least, I feel something close to love for it. I don’t really think about it. Sometimes a sentence, a description or a line of dialogue or a simile or anything else, pops into my mind out of the blue and I’m like either, “Oh, what is that? Who or what is it about? Where do is it lead me?” or “Yes, that’s it, hold that until a less ungodly hour/a moment when I’m free to try and do something with it or at the very least write it down.” Sometimes I’m watching or reading or doing something and my brain says, “Yeah, but you know what would be cool? If this thing happened to these characters!”, and the thing that should totally happen to the characters may or may not be related in any way to the thing I’m watching or reading or doing. And sometimes I have a sudden craving for a certain story or character or scene, or a want that has built up through years, but of course I know I won’t find any piece of fiction that fits my tastes exactly and precisely and because I don’t know any writers who happen to be mindreaders and I’m not about to become the kind of prompter who feeds the plot almost line by line to the unlucky writer their asking for a story, so in the end I go, “You know what? This is actually a very good idea and it’s a shame no one has written it yet so I’ll just do it myself!” And sometimes I feel frustrated or unsatisfied or irritated or even just a little too frantic and in too deep to actually feel any love or joy or anything else while I’m writing rather than when I take a step back to reread and edit what I’ve written, but I wouldn’t trade all those other “sometimes” I’ve just mentioned for anything in the world. And honestly, I wouldn’t do it even with these less pleasant “sometimes,” as much as I like to complain or joke or jokingly complain about them. Because they are all part of what makes me me and the idea of ever giving them up, even for some relative peace of mind, feels as absurd and unnecessary as the idea of consciously trying to change my tastes in food or music or fiction or jokes or pets --- I can only guess at where some things come from, so how would I even go about upturning or taking away things that feel almost more like instinct than anything else? And why would I ever wish to? And I don’t think I’ve never been in romantic love, I’m not even sure if I know how that’s really supposed to feel like or work out, but this is kind of love I know. The kind of love I feel for my family and my friends, who all have annoying, stupid habits because that’s what people do and I’m sure they find my habits annoying and stupid, too, and that’s fine, and the kind of love I feel for our cat, who yells at me when he’s hungry and scratches me when we play and bullies the neighbour’s overly friendly, peace-loving dog and does a lot other things that made me fear and wonder, “Oh, god, what if the novelty of having a cute little cat all for ourselves wears off after a while and we don’t want him anymore and we become one of those families that take in a pet and change its whole life only to immediately give it back and give it trust issues in the process because they’re not actually fit to have a pet” before we’d actually gotten him but now they’re just part of him and you’ll have to fistfight each and every one of us in a parking lot if you try and take him away from us. That’s the kind of love I have for writing, and even if it’s not always joy, and sometimes it’s annyoing or irritating or no more pleasant than merely, simply breathing, what does the unpleasantness or the lack of enthusiasm really matter? Nothing, or at least, very little. It’s my love, I can only guess where it really comes from, it’s always with me and I can’t imagine it ever going away, and you can fight me in the aforementioned parking lot.
And I think it’s this love that allows me to... not quite be carefree about my writing, but something a bit like that. What do comments and reviews and kudos matter, if my love expresses itself through fandoms most people don’t even think can be considered as fandoms or themes nobody but me thinks or cares about? Sure, validation and compliments and people genuinely enjoying what I create make me feel great and may even warm my heart, depending on how much thought and effort I put into a particular work or how long I’ve wished to be able to find other people interested in a certain fandom, but they’re not my reason for writing or even something I really need -- I’ll keep doing my thing whether I get a hundred kudos and fifty comments or only three views. I did use to compare myself unfavorably to other writers and despair over all the ways I found myself inferior and lacking, but then I realized... what good is wishing I could be as good as someone else, or even someone else altogether, if my writing is part of me, stems from who I am? What influence on me could another writer’s success and the methods and techniques used to reach that success even have? I should strive to satify myself while doing what I want, to become as good as I can be according to my standards and through the methods and techniques that work for me. I can take what I like and analyse it and try to make it mine and incorporate it in my style and my ideas, there’s nothing wrong with that and it’s a good way to broaden my horizons and challenge myself and improve my work and love writing even more, but in the end, I can’t be anyone but myself --- and I may have lots of flaws, but in the end, there’s nothing fundamentally wrong with that. Actually, there is some joy, and even pride, in that. And so, I reread my old works and see them with new, more charitable eyes, remembering the fun and the satisfaction and the need to write precisely that specific thing, pushing aside the old doubts that gave me nothing but endless nitpicking and rewriting and saying, “You know? Maybe my use of em dashes wasn’t actually as overbearing and cringy as I thought, maybe I should start using them a bit more freely again.” I reread my new works and tell myself, “Fuck it, of course I enjoy this and I am actually a bit proud of it, I wrote it for myself, according to my own tastes and following my own inspiration and putting as much effort and care into it as I thought it needed!”
I still have doubts and fears like everyone else, but they’re more along the lines of, “I know I can write better than this, so why am I not doing it right now? What is the problem here?!” or “I love and care and believe so much in this idea and I want to be good enough to do it justice and make sure it’ll make me feel perfectly satisifed and proud with the final result”, than “Everybody is doing the thing I feel is my thing better than me” or “I’ll never be this other writer I admire.” My writing blocks are usually more about getting stuck in the middle of a work while struggling to find the right words to put the exact feelings and actions I have in my mind on the page precisely as I’ve imagined them (”No, thats not it! There’s something missing and I can’t go on until I find out what it is! The words here don’t sound right!”), or struggling to find the Right Words to start a new project at all because I still have to work on internalizing that perfectionism is the enemy and a first draft is meant to be changed and corrected and maybe even kind of suck even if rationally I understand both concepts, or having Something Big in mind but knowing I usually just follow the flow of my ideas until it dries up and feeling my best works really come from truly getting lost into it and then worrying about how difficult Building An Actual Plot Like A Rational Person will be, or having scenes or even whole stories feels just so complete in my head that laboring to get them out of it feels like doing the same exact work twice for nothing (which isn’t true, but tell it to my brain), or just... not being able to start or go on or even end even if I have everything from ideas to motivation ro the right, relaxed but willing and driven state of mind, for some reason. Or, like, utterly dumb stuff like, “This paragraph will only make me feel good if I manage to get the lines to align in this specific way without changing the meaning or ruining the tone and atmosphere, so I will now modify it four or five times until I get it right even if I know this doesn’t make any sense.”
Except... there’s this friend. Her writing is the kind that uses a scant amount of sharp, essential words to tell whole worlds made of unsaid things, so soft they make you feel like you’re inside a dream or so harsh they're like a punch in the gut but always so clever and full that you always feel you’re always missing somthing, you just aren’t smart enough to figure it out. I have to make a conscious effort not to compare them to my works, because then mine feel overwrought and overdramatic, childish and naive.
And I know, believe me I know, that despite how much of yourself ends up in your writing, despite how much your writing can be a part of yourself, skill as a writer is not synonymous with worth as a person. You can be a good and/or succesful writer and be a complete shithead, and thinks like kindness and open-mindedness will always be fundamentally more important than the ability to string words together in a pleasing manner. But she’s kind (perhaps kinder than I deserve, because I know sometimes I can be a real dick), and open-minded, and sweet in her own way, and brave, and confident, and so smart and cultured, and sharp, and funny, and interesting, and she seems to understand people a lot better than I do. And even when we’re just chatting, I’m not always sure I understand every layer to everything she says, I’m not sure I can keep up with her wit and her mind. The confidence I feel while writing evaporates and I feel slow and shallow and boring and dumb and wonder why she puts up with me, how she hasn’t realised she could be talking to her people more like her yet.
The worst thing is, it’s not even her doing anything to make me feel like this and I know it too well. I don’t even think she knows, and I hope she never finds out. She’s not just kind to me, but affectionate and supportive, and in a honest and genuine way, and I know it’s irrational and stupid to think I might have tricked her into behaving like that with me, or that she’s not being sincere, or that she just doesn’t care enough to  take a good look at me and find out what my brain thinks is the truth. I know it would be hurtful and ungrateful to tell her.
I also know she’s not perfect, because no one is. She has her flaws, too, and sometimes she says things that make me roll my eyes or sigh in frustration. There are some things I know more about than her, too. And we don’t even live near each other so I’ve never even met her in person, so I know if that happened at one point, I’d probably find out a bunch of annoying things about her.
But when she compliments my writing, sometimes my brain either shortcircuits for a moment or starts coming up with all kinds of bullshit like, “She’s just saying that because you’re friends and she’s a very supportive person. You’re pretty much the only one writing for this ship, so this is more like when you’re desperate enough to run fics in Russian and Chinese through Google Translate and you still leave kudos even though half of it came out as gibberish. It’s like when you read something you know is actually not well-written or well-plotted at all just for a certain specific character or trope in it, she’s just the type who doesn’t believe in guilty pleasures. She’s using a very happy and pleased tone but that doesn’t mean anything on the internet, almost everything here is hyperbole anyway so her actual reaction must have been a lot more lukewarm.” And when she writes to me or says she enjoys talking to me, sometimes my brain will go, “That’s great and I appreciate it! ... but seriously, why.”
*sigh* I guess that’s another thing I’ll have to try and work on this year. Being more open about what I feel -- at least on a sideblog read by only *checks* fourteen people, none of whom are the friend in question or any friends we have in common or any of my regular internet friends at all -- instead of keeping everything bottled up inside at all times is another one, apparently. Let’s see if it’ll really make me feel lighter.

As much as I joke about not writing, not liking/wanting to write, or how I waste time on tumblr instead of actually writing... I genuinely think that being here as a Writeblr has improved me as a writer in a way.
I don’t think it’s a huge difference by any means — I didn’t jump from level 20 to level 70, but I’m still racking up experience and I do think that what I do in the Writeblr community is not a waste, but a benefit.
I’ve learned how to give writing advice and communicate my points succinctly and clearly. By giving writing advice, it made me think of questions that I’ve never thought to ask myself, it forced me to broaden my horizons and evaluate writing, grammar, plots, etc in a critical way that I never have done before.
By reading people’s WIPs, OCs and their writing process, I’ve been exposed to a lot of different ideas and methods that I didn’t know of. It’s taught me new literary techniques, or just cool things that I want to do as well. I learned how to support other creators, and how to give feedback. I learned how I wasn’t alone in my endeavors, and that writing doesn’t always have to be lonely.
The writing advice found here can be really amazing. Even if all writing advice isn’t applicable, it’s still a new technique to store away in my brain, or a new perspective to consider. Writeblr has made me more aware of how to be sensitive, of how to consider the impact of my words on others.
And most importantly, being on Writeblr constantly reaffirms my love of writing. Like yeah, it’s not always fun. Sometimes it’s downright horrible, and leaves me in a spiraling mess. But when I lose sight of how much I love writing, Writeblr is always there to remind me that not all days are bad, and that there’s genuine joy and excitement waiting for me once this passes.
So basically what I’m trying to say is...
The time you spend on Writeblr isn’t necessarily a waste.
My mother always taught me that everything has a purpose, and that even if it’s hard to see right now, everything that I do will benefit me in some way, somehow in the future.
And in a strange way, I think that wisdom might apply here too.

Intuitive Astrology: February Super Full Moon 2019
Intuitive Astrology: February Super Full Moon 2019
By Tanaaz
The Full Moon on February 19th falls in the earth sign of Virgo and is the strongest Super Moon of the year.
Super Moons occur when the Moon is closer to Earth, and on February 19th, the Moon will be at its closest point all year.
We will see the Moon shining big and bright in the sky, and we will also feel the energetic effects and pull of the Moon vibrating at the depths of our soul.
This Super Full Moon is also potent as it falls at zero degrees of Virgo. Zero is the number of potential and limitless opportunities. Zero is the blank canvas of all creation, signaling that this Full Moon is really going to offer infinite potential.
February’s Full Moon is going to help us realize our potential and also the potential around us, it is also going to open us, broaden our horizons, and encourage us to open our minds and hearts to something beyond our current reality.
Since the January Eclipses, things have been shaken for many people. Perhaps your path suddenly changed or perhaps you simply started seeing things in a different light, causing you to change your attitude, beliefs, or life direction.
Life always has a way of pulling us in different directions. These directions may not always be rosy, but somewhere deep inside, we have to trust that whatever we experience is here to lift us higher, to open our hearts, and to help us to grow.
What the human mind may perceive as terrible or annoying, our soul may be rejoicing at the lessons we get to learn, the emotional range we get to experience, and the life changing wisdom we get to acquire.
Looking at the world through our higher mind definitely gives us a new perspective, and allows us to see beyond our own egos.
The light of this Full Moon is going to be so strong, and the pull of its energy is going to be intense that we will have no other choice but to open up.
The contents of our lives will be released and exposed, we will be cut open, and free to see what is really brewing on the inside.
This exposure and release can happen on a mind, body, spirit level or on a combination of all three.
On a mental level, this Full Moon is going to be exposing all that we need to release and let go of. While this is typical for most Full Moons, on this Virgo Moon we are specifically going to be encouraged to let go of repetitive thoughts, over-thinking, worries, and fears of the future.
To help us with this, the Universe may stir some of our core fears, or agitate some of our beliefs in order to help bring awareness and exposure to them.
Most of us have fear lurking in the corner of our minds and hearts and, while this is part of our human experience, the more conscious we can become of our fear, the more it helps us to know when it is driving our decisions or when it is simply in the background as a way to protect us.
Fear can be healthy in reasonable doses, but most of us are over-driven with fear, which keeps us stuck in repetitive patterns and in a lower vibrational state.
On this Full Moon, work on becoming aware of your fears. Acknowledge them. Stand them down. Pierce them with your gaze straight to their core, for doing so will loosen their grip on your life.
Sometimes, all you have to do is become aware of where you are operating with fear and the rest will follow.
The Universe is saying to you- release the fears that hold you back and bond you to these earthly illusions. On the other side of your fear is everything you have ever wanted, everything you have ever dreamed of. Your fears are not to be ignored, but rather they are to be challenged. Rise up to them, for you are strong enough, and the power of this Moon will be helping you.
On a physical level, this Full Moon may also put a spotlight on your health. If you have not been looking after yourself, or if you have been ignoring any lingering symptoms, it is going to be important to take action around this Full Moon.
Self-care is always so important, but on this Full Moon we really have to pay attention and look after our physical bodies as much as possible. A huge part of this is also practicing self-love, and accepting our bodies no matter what, even if we are faced with illness or dis-ease.
Our bodies are the vessel that we have chosen to carry our soul through this earthly journey. The shape of our body, the state of our body is the perfect vessel for the lessons and growth that our soul is here to do. Honor your body, honor any perceived flaws, and know that you are perfect.
Allow the light of the Moon to shine down on your face and soak up the healing vibes it emits. Allow the light of the Moon to beam straight into your core, so it can recharge your energy centers, awaken your soul, and revitalize your body.
On the deepest soul level, this Full Moon is helping to awaken our potential within. This Full Moon is helping to crack us open so we can see beyond our beliefs and into a new reality.
We perceive our reality to be a solid, three-dimensional world, but for those who have expanded their mind and awareness, it is easy to see that there are dimensions beyond this, life beyond this, and realms beyond this.
Life is not only what we see, there is an unseen world too, and if you open to the Moon’s energy, if you allow its light to shine straight through your soul, you will be able to awaken this awareness and see that life can be imagined and lived in far more detail, in far more vivid color, and with far more magic.
Using the energy of the Moon and your own intuition, try out my Full Moon Reading and see what messages the Universe has for you.

Stop Wasting Time And start Ebook Reader
This outlines the 6 greatest PDF eBook readers available on the market that are value testing. What makes it so completely different from the other (i.e., Sony) ebook readers available on the market? There are various eBooks readers obtainable from distinctive suppliers. The worldwide Ebook Awards are designed that will help you achieve these publicity targets. That is one other great publicity opportunity for you and your ebook. Wondershare PDFelement - PDF Editor is a superb eBook and PDF reader. Nevertheless, the Kindle Paperwhite has IPX8 water resistance, great for reading within the bath or taking your Kindle to the beach or pool. Ebookmarks is Amazon’s line of e-book readers, and it debuted in 2007. Over time, Amazon launched new forms of Kindle units, from the fundamental Kindle to the Kindle Oasis, which comes with extra features, like water resistance and a blue mild filter. It’s also absolutely waterproof, which is one in all the most important causes to purchase this over the essential Kindle, as waterproofing actually does provide a peace of mind that can’t be changed simply. There are no other books (online or of the paper selection) that I've come across that covers so many methods, particular effects, and ideas packed into one ebook.
Like Amazon, the corporate also has a line of Nook Tablets that run Android, however the Nook initially launched as an e-book reader with an digital paper display. Amazon additionally launched a line of tablets under the Kindle Fireplace branding - which confused many, as Kindle Fires should not e-book readers, however Android-based mostly tablets. You must be questioning about what are the similarities. Kindle recordsdata and Apple iBooks should not supported, however Kobo helps the most file formats natively of any e-book reader. A Nook is an e-book reader from Barnes & Noble, a big U.S. The battery is giant enough that you must get round a month of reading from a single charge. In apply although, it’s still doubtless a convenience more than a requirement, as the 2-week battery life means it won’t should be recharged very often. It boasts longer battery life, too, and that 6-inch screen has a better decision than the original Kindle. This function uses crimson and orange LEDs to illuminate the screen without the necessity for blue gentle, which can cause trouble sleeping.
The Kobo Clara HD features a gorgeous 300 ppi display and 8GB of storage - just just like the Kindle Paperwhite. Why it's best to buy this: You’re searching for a reasonable e-book reader with a front-lit HD display and plenty of storage. Whether or not you've a Kindle from Amazon or a Kobo from Rakuten, most e-book readers have a respective retailer accessible via the system the place you possibly can purchase books and more. To have a greater understanding of what an eBook really is, let’s take a look on the characteristics of an eBook. It is due to Calibre that my ebook library is significantly better organised than my physical. PDF recordsdata: - We integrate associated a number of recordsdata into one for higher organized kinds. We hope that you'll be capable to discover a book or two right here, which can both inspire you, entertain you or broaden your horizons in a technique or another.
Whereas Amazon hasn’t tinkered with the Paperwhite’s design an excessive amount of, it has made two big modifications to the general components - a larger 6.8-inch display, and USB-C charging. A bookseller will only get a cut on digital e-book sales made inside two years of the gadget being purchased -- simply enough time for a Kindle buyer to get hooked on speedy electronic transactions, and for the store to be turned right into a Taco Bell. What’s the difference between a tablet and an e-book reader? A tablet is akin to a smartphone however larger. In case your current smartphone or tablet of choice uses USB-C, as many fashionable units do, effectively, there’s no have to grab one other cable just to charge your Kindle. With the rise of pill computers such as the iPad, extra people in Britain are turning away from traditional books in favour of reading on their computers. Normally, I don’t like it when people see their workers as assets as a result of they’re humans in any case. You don’t have to change every part in your life directly, so pick your priorities to fit your needs. Probably the most annoying issues about e-books is that there are numerous file varieties, and sure e-book readers don’t help certain formats.

Altered States Part 2 Final Outcome & Evaluation
Tumblr media
Originally for my final outcome for this project I had intended to portray my perception of altered states through a short fashion film.
The final outcome achieved however was a single still image and a sound track to accompany it. Regardless of the end result, I still personally feel that I have been able to effectively transfer my understanding and concept of altered states in my visual response.
The main talking point of my work is the method. I had used an artificial intelligence or neural network program in the new edition of photoshop to achieve my outcome. Originally, I was editing and retouching my test shots from a response to Tarkovsky in photoshop. Whist doing this I was experimenting and learning about the new tools within Photoshop 2020. One of them being artificial intelligence style transfer.
For further exploration of the project, I could try to apply these experimental techniques in the context of film, which was my original overly ambitious plan. Doing this would include shooting at more locations, sourcing and styling clothing and also of course more technical knowledge on software.
This project definitely kickstarted my creative thinking to some extent. While under the current global climate it has for sure encouraged students to overcome and adapt to adversities through creative thinking. This being said, it also has its limitations. It can make doing certain things like shooting with a group of people unfeasible. This in turn could add limitations to the potential of the creative output in some ways.
Evidencing and visualising my thought process has always been a part of the course that I've personally found challenging. For this project I had been posting blog entries detailing every step I had taken from brainstorming to test shots. Doing this has helped me become more proficient in evidencing. utilizing a digital platform has been greatly beneficial for me especially considering the nature of education today.
This project has broadened my horizons in terms of what I want to create and why. Thinking about art as a tool of communing concepts and ideologies rather than mere aesthetics. The project being very open ended and up for interpretation has played a substantial part in this freedom of communication. Also, it has pushed me further technically. I had to learn about new contemporary forms of computing and applying these technologies in image making for my final outcome.
My visual awareness has been developed during this project. I had taken the project with a very conceptual approach which I had not done to this extent previously. This opened me up to consider new ways of thinking and analysing art. This was most apparent to me during the brainstorm artist research of the project.

(Response #4)
In this article the author, Perry Kulper evaluates the need for architects to continually evolve and grow with changing architecture landscape. The author demands architects to broaden their horizon by developing a new framework of design which involves multiple visualization techniques, different design methods and expansion in limits of what is possible in architecture. Accordingly, the author discusses architectural drawings as the visualization aids which can transform conceptualization and modelling in architecture. Perry Kulper suggests that drawings are the language of representation in architecture and so much can be intellectualized, over simplified, reduced and eliminated through them. He goes on to analyze the artistic production and realignment of drawing techniques of Marcel Duchamp and Roland Barthes. The subtle difference between the language of architecture and the language of representation are identified as means to explore design possibilities for architects. The different types of drawings from the basic thematic drawings to the final geometric drawings and model visualization all enable the architect to translate an idea from language of representation to language of architecture. Perry Kulper expertly delineates the drawing techniques and design methods based on the particular project requirements. Accordingly, the design methods vary from automatic to syntactical approaches and concepts of gesture translation, parametric modelling and surrealism are variedly applied. In my personal opinion, the author examines the broad spectrum of architectural drawings as artistic production in order to liberate architects from contemporary ways of producing work.

Are You Too Old to Be a Web Designer?
Tumblr media
There’s nothing nice about asking the question “How old is too old to …?” So, I’m going to start by getting the answer out of the way, right now:
You’re never too old to…
…become a web designer…
…transition from web designer to UX designer…
…become a full-stack designer-developer powerhouse…
…or do whatever the heck it is you want to do.
Whatever your goal might be, age isn’t going to hold you back. The only thing that’s going to do that is you.
Are You Too Old to Discover New Skills?
For every time you’ve heard someone blame age for a negative outcome — You’re forgetful? It must be old age! — you’ve likely heard a story about someone who didn’t let age hold them back from learning something new. Like the grade school dropout who not only earned their high school diploma but a university degree decades later. Or the immigrant who had little knowledge of the native tongue, only to launch a successful enterprise in their new home.
The brain is an incredibly powerful muscle. You just need to know how to make the most of it. Here’s how:
Tip 1: Lean into Your Confidence
Many times, one’s ability to learn a new skill is contingent upon how confident they feel in it. For instance:
If you tell yourself, “I’m too old to learn something new at this stage in my life”, where’s the motivation to make the effort? In this case, it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy wherein, if you fail, you can brush it off as a matter of age.
When, really, you should be thinking, “If I do X, Y, and Z, I can master the skills necessary to get to the next level.” By thinking through what’s needed and systematically tackling it as you would any other process, you’re more likely to taste success in the end.
Tip 2: Broaden Your Horizons
There was a paper published in 2016 on the matter of cognitive functioning as we age. It suggests that the real reason our cognitive abilities decline as we get older is because of the way we learn. Specifically, the paper contrasts the methods by which we learned as children to how we learn as adults.
As kids, we’re encouraged to learn as much as we can about as many different things: languages; sciences; history; math; art; etc.
As adults, we’re encouraged to become specialists: doctors; lawyers; writers; web designers; accountants; etc.
It’s when we close our brains off and narrowly focus our attention on one career, or area of interest that we harm our ability to learn something new. So, don’t be afraid to dabble in various hobbies or to read up on new topics. It’ll keep your cognitive functioning strong and allow you to learn new skills with ease.
Tip 3: Embrace Newness
Scientific American published results of a study in 2008 that revealed how we “learn by surprise”.
Essentially, the study revealed that our brains — more specifically, the hippocampus — are able to acquire and retain knowledge much more effectively when it’s new. What’s more, if a concept or skill we’re already familiar with is placed in a novel context, it becomes easier for us to memorize and retain it, too.
In other words, it’s a good thing to look beyond your current skill set. By learning new things, you’ll give your brain the ability to absorb new skills and knowledge more effectively.
Tip 4: Exercise Your Brain
Dr. Ipsit Vahia of McLean Hospital says:
When you exercise, you engage your muscles to help improve overall health. The same concept applies to the brain. You need to exercise it with new challenges to keep it healthy.
In a field like web design that’s constantly in flux, with new tools and techniques entering the picture, it’s actually easy to get into the habit of “working out” your brain.
Sign up for the occasional online course to brush up on your JavaScript skills. Attend a local web design or development meetup and trade tips. Challenge yourself with projects that allow you to test out new skills and refine old ones. Just find something that lights a fire under you, and pushes you to do more, not less, with your web design career.
Wrap-Up
There are two big takeaways here. The first is this:
Don’t let fear hold you back.
you’re going to have to work for it…that’s true of anyone who enters this industry, regardless of age
If you’re nervous that the web design space is a young person’s game and there’s no place for you in it, you’re looking at it the wrong way.
Think about it: whether you’re 40, 50, 60, or beyond, you have decades more experience than your youthful counterparts. They may have abundant amounts of energy and an innate tech-savviness, but many of them can’t compete with your business-savviness, time management skills, and professionalism.
The second thing to take away from this post is this:
Never stop learning.
If you want to switch gears and become a web designer, you’re going to have to work for it. And keep working at it. But, in all honesty, that’s true of anyone who enters this industry, regardless of age.
The web is an ever-changing space that none of us should take for granted. If we don’t stay up on the latest trends and continually work on refining our skills within it, we won’t do very well.
So, stop wondering if you’re too old to learn a new skill and start working on acquiring it!

Just finishing up working 4-5 months doing installations and carpentry work at Disney’s Galaxy Edge for Adirondack Studios.
An interesting job due to the scope and ambition of the project. Most people I talked to on the site agreed that they’ve never been on a job this size with the amount of people working on it on any given day, and we all agreed that it was refreshing to work on something with such imaginative design and  thought behind it. The extent of construction techniques and the building methods used to achieve the stylistic results was indeed impressive.
It was a total zoo at times, and challenging to work with certain people, but also an eye opener and a reality check as well.
Anyways, I had been wanting to broaden my horizons and work on something more in the commercial and imaginative vein, something with all steel studs, something that would get me out of the same old residential carpentry and contracting thing, and I got it. Hopefully I can leverage this experience and move into a new direction.
