as much as i dont want a tiktok account nor do i believe wholeheartedly in the wiseness of posting fleeting challenges with my own face in the video and looking silly both tomorrow and in years time, there are some of those things that i see on youtube reposted from tiktok that look fun. like the how i did 2016 makeup vs how i did 2021 makeup one, that would be so easy for me. fuck foundation fuck blush fuck setting anything it was emo as fuck pencil eyeliner around both upper and lower lids, sometimes with the previous years tube of great lash, and if i felt fancy it was a dark lipstick that rarely applied well but i thought was hip and great bc it was a similar shade to one that a very pretty and nice girl i knew wore and i think someone needs to provide that both entirely low effort and yet unironically presented look to the tiktok users that only see baking and ig eyebrows in the trend

Who's your favorite star wars character and why are they your fav?
Thank you for sending me my first ask! It's definitely Anakin but the WHY always says more than the who or what :)
So.
Partly I just. I really like villains, fallen heroes, monsters, antagonists and baddies in general, specifically I feel so connected to them all because their stories are never THEIR stories, and that's something that due to my own upbringing and probably some of the marginalized demographics I belong to I feel in my bones.
From a writing perspective there's the satisfaction of seeing a complex, dynamic and well-studied character, especially someone who has both literally and mentally worn so many faces and in a way has lived many different lives. There's some kind of incredible emotional alchemy that happens when I try to reconcile TPM Ani with Vader, or Vader with ghost Anakin, etc.
And then there's how the PT so admirably invokes elements that made classical tragedies from Greek to Shakespearean great and then makes them so digestible to our contemporary sensibilities. Anakin's downfall is a narrative that tilts on all these axes of Choice and Fate, of Virtue and Fault, and of our ordinary human lives and the cosmos and all the messy ways they mix. That tragedy element is in turn very well served by how the OT managed to create a mythos so popular that people forget it's scifi (AND I happen to love scifi, so there's that).
Aesthetics, like DEAR GODS the aesthetics. I dunno I've always had some kind of gender thing for tall pretty men with a certain aura and it gives me gender euphoria to watch him sweeping around in flowing robes looking dramatic. I grew up in a time and place where secondhand gender euphoria was almost the only gender euphoria people like me ever got, so I derive a deeply personal sense of comfort and fulfilment from engaging with the aesthetics of RotS Anakin and any character who hits me in a similar way.
Even though I never saw *ANY* Star Wars content at all until 29 there's this element of how much my younger self would have loved Anakin, like, edgy moody millenial me who was actually using those stereotypes about mall goth teen angst as a way to wear my very real trauma in a relatively socially-safe if somewhat coded way and, by reducing its hiddenness, actually rob that trauma of some of its power and loosen its hold on my life.
And then with Anakin it's like. In a lot of ways his underlying emotional makeup seems so similar to mine in ways that are so painful and so healing to acknowledge, I just- his most Dark Side moments in AotC, RotS and TCW are so true to who I still have to work so hard every day not to be, not necessarily in their severity but in their overall flavour and direction. I so rarely get to see that in heroes OR villains, and the fact that he was both just-
That's not just darkness, that's *MY* darkness, to the point that if I can care about and admire Vaderkin then surely I'm capable of loving myself too, of seeing someone with all my most unattractive and deepest most toxic impulses as someone worth fighting for, someone who deserved better... even someone capable of redemption.
Luke saying "I'm a Jedi, like my father before me" while fully knowing who his dad is is some kind of potent antidote (that I didn't even know I needed) to the damage that both my personal traumas and the early exposure to media that villainized queerness, disability, and neurodivergence did to my psyche.
Relatability kind of comes full circle back to visual elements too. Anakin is shown crying so often and we never once get the slightest suggestion in the movies that he's any less of a warrior for it- nor any less of a man. In a society that both demonizes women and has gendered the hell out of how people experience and express emotions, I can't begin to describe how refreshing it is to see a male character, and one we're supposed to empathize with, shown breaking down so often in multiple ways. Strong and rapidly changing emotions, the outward expression thereof, fear, sadness and even an intense and painful desire for human connection are all disproportionately attributed to women, and shunned. And yet we have Anakin. That the terrifying gravitas of Darth Vader comes from that same person is a statement in and of itself.
Speaking of Vader's power, despite a lot of veeeeery problematic dimensions to how disability is portrayed in the SW universe, he remains one of the most intimidating fictional characters to have prosthetics that don't function identically to Anakin's original legs, which is to have had to *adjust* to an injury, and to have both such conspicuous adaptive equipment and such combat prowess that we the audience associate his medically assisted breathing primarily with a battle that could spell the end of all our protagonists. Having lost a chunk of my own mobility and acquired chronic pain, I find myself wishing for more characters who are never physically the same again, yet have a type of agency and power that isn't purely mystical/cerebral, nor indirect.
I'm sure there's more, but I'm gonna stop here and say thank you again for asking.

The Chosen Two
This has been on my mind for the past week so I finally decided to write it. Hope you guys enjoy! (Also hopefully it doesn’t get removed like my last one *wipes away tears*)
Pairings: Connor x OC
Words: 3.k
Tumblr media
Glasses clattered together as conversation filled the luxurious venue. Numerous college students scattered the large room, holding champagne glasses containing God-only-knows.
“Either I’m extremely tipsy or just generally nervous, but I think I’m going to barf.” I mutter to my best friend, Avery, as we stood close to each other in the midst of everyone.
Tonight was an award ceremony for UCLA’s School of Film, Theatre and Television. I was nominated for many different categories in the film category, and with the competitive nature I possessed, I desired to win every category I was in. The most important award I was in the running for was Film of the Year which, if won, gives the opportunity to display your talents publicly, while also gaining the exposure to jumpstart your career.
“Oh quit it, you’ve done so many talented videos and photo shoots, it would be discrimination if you didn’t win at least one of them.” She ensures confidently. I eyed her quizzically, a humorous smile spreading across my lips.
“Discrimination?” I repeat in a laugh. She was always a little melodramatic in her motivational speeches.
“For sure, it would be discrimination against a bad bitch honestly.” We both laugh, clinking glasses in agreement to the statement.
Once it dies down, I scan the room for the one, and the only person that has been heavy on my mind since nominations were announced.
“Listen, my type isn’t surfer-white-boy, but that Connor Cashier guy can get it.” Alex whispers to me, her eyes fixed on what I assumed, Connor. Following her gaze, I also looked at the man of the hour–and also the cause of my nauseate.
He dressed in a grey tailored suit, the jacket opened to reveal a checkered button-up that complimented the suit, and overall posh look. He raked a hand through his prim hair, chuckling at something someone was saying to him. A crowd gradually formed around him, but he remained placid, not an utter amount of uneasiness in his demeanor.
“Connor Brashier is my worst nightmare right now.” I admit, Alex looks away from him to give me a perplexed frown.
“And why is that? The boy looks like he weighs no more than 90 pounds wet.”
My gaze lingers on him, momentarily lost in how well composed his film he admitted was. It captured all the aesthetics of nature, it made the viewers look at nature past just its beauty. He raised awareness of our effect on nature, all while tying a story plot to it. He filmed it across many beautiful nature spots in the States (only because it was prohibited to use out of state content).
He was basically the poster child for the film major, most underclass students looked up to him, like he was a mogul.
What made it all the more frustrating was how well he handled the popularity. It was always so mysterious. He didn’t smile too much, and he wasn’t smug about his accomplishments, there weren’t any troubling stories about him, mostly just allegations of who he sleeps with and the typical rumor subjects. He simply focused on his filming and chilled with his friends in downtime.
I didn't realize how long I was staring until his eyes meet mine, the blues in them so intense, they practically shined under the starlight. I quickly avert my gaze back to Alex, sighing.
“He’s just so talented. And like–I don’t know. I’m just afraid he’s going to win and continue to get the exposure he basically already has.” I confess, toying with a ringlet of hair out of habit when I’m nervous.
“You’re downplaying your own work D, you personified California, and filmed them around California. And told a story. Who the hell thinks of that? You articulated on every detail, I had to use my brain. You know I don't like doing that. Your film is stunning. And if it couldn’t get better, you did it all on the price of your own money. I doubt rich boy Connor can say that.” She states matter of factually, sass lacing her words. I blush, genuinely warm by her, comical, but uplifting words.
“You’ve always had a way with words, that’s why you need to win that journalist of the year award.” I hug her.
“Oh honey, I’m not worried about a stupid award, that’s just justification for objectifying our talents to a mere thing that’ll wind up in our attics...or a box, or a trash...or even a–”
“Ladies and gentlemen if you could find your seat at your designated tables. We will start the ceremony shortly.” The president announces into the microphone. Alex huffs, giving a small eye roll. I snicker patting her shoulder.
“See ya later journalist of the year.” I tease with a wink. Backing away, I don’t watch where I’m going and stumble into a body. Their hands instinctively grabbed my sides to hold me up. The piquant cologne was the first thing noticed before I even turned, but once I became motionless.
“Sorry, Danielle right?” I looked up and blinked mute. Lost for words mostly because I was baffled at his voice, I don’t think I’ve ever heard him talk—and I’ve definitely had to do a project with him in the past, so that says a lot for the amount of dialogue he uses. Straightening up, I recover smoothly flipping my hair off my shoulder.
“Yes, sorry about that.” I give a wry smile, he merely smiles back in response nodding his head.
We both walk to the same table, he glances over his shoulder noticing me, automatically pulling out a chair for me before taking a seat of his own a few chairs down. I smile at the unexpected gesture, he winks back taking a swig of drink in his seat.
Looking around the table, it registers that the people seated here are also nominees for the best film. I didn’t even feel threatened by them, and a hinted ounce of guilt surface while I smile at them. Champagne glasses accommodates the table, and I grab one, taking a swill of the bitter drink.
They didn’t hold back on the alcohol at all.
Promptly, the different professors of the theatre major began presenting awards. As much as I wanted to be entertained by the witty commentary, the heavy weight of my eyelids kept me blinking, while shifting in my seat, I lightly swayed, grabbing hold of the table to stabilize myself.
How much did I drink? I wonder, glancing around the table to check if anyone witnessed my drunkenness. Catching the striking eyes of Connor, he smirks, his chest noticeably bouncing in a silent laugh. I giggle as well, looking away and excusing myself from the table.
My heels felt 10 feet tall as I walked to the bathroom, but I did it effortlessly, disguising how tipsy I truly was. Once in the comforts of the clean bathroom, I look at myself.
Shouldn’t have done that.
The world spun, and I was suddenly a lot cuter than before.
“Ah shit, I’m drunk.” I murmur, then giggle because in my consumption of the many glasses of champagne, I also swallowed the tickled bug. Wetting a napkin, I patted my eyes, endeavoring to clear up the swirl in her eyes, while not messing up the makeup job Alex did. She made me look stunning, alcohol-aside. “If all fails and I don’t win a damn thing, at least I look cute...right?” I say to myself, while examining my face. Before leaving the bathroom, I pee out a small portion of the liquor, tugging the end of my bodycon dress down on my thighs after I flush and leave the stall.
Stumbling out of the bathroom, I exhale heavily glancing at the ongoing dull ceremony, then towards the exit where Connor leans on the wall hiding, his back faced me, head pointed down. The liquor confidence ushered my legs to move in his direction, I cleared my voice.
Mid-exhale, he looks over his shoulder at the sound, the mango smoke blowing into my face as he continues to blow out. I wave it away, snickering.
“Is this ‘something to take the edge off’?” I quip, observing how his porcelain face reddens around his structured cheeks, plush lips turning up in a smile. Extending the vape to her, she contentedly takes it.
“Something like that. I knew it was going to be long and boring, but that in their is worse than watching paint dry.” He explains watching as I take a drag off the vape. His eyes fixates on my glossy lips, the ghost cloud floating into my nose, before I release the cloud back out on his face. The soft smile doesn’t falter in his features as it does.
“It’s so boring I got drunk...on accident.” I add, earning his chuckle. He shrugs his shoulders in a way to say ‘I feel that’. The crowd clapped loudly gaining their attention as all of the theatre winners stood on stage receiving the applauds. I look back at him, his long, shiny hair falls over his forehead until he combs a hand through it to push it back. “You know, honestly speaking–thanks to the cheap champagne–I will confess, you’re the most intimidating person I’ve met. And I’ve met...menaced people.” He quirks a perfectly shaped eyebrow at her.
“Well without alcohol I can say the same about you.” I raise my eyebrows at the newfound information. I thought I was transparent: I smile at everyone I pass, and social when needed. “You just carry yourself in a way that I see through that sweet, school-girl façade. As cliché as it sounds, there’s more to you that you let on.” He mirrors my reaction as I tilt my head with a smirk, interested by his explanation.
Before she was able to reply, a professor of there’s, headed to the bathroom—sees them, “Connor, Danielle, will you make your way back to your seats please. We don’t want to gather a social group back here.” Connor and I straighten up like seized burglars. I nod my head, peaking over to Connor swiftly, to see him still holding the smirk.
The ceremony continues as we returned to our seats. They were several awards into the Television portion, I peered over to see Alex collected a couple of the “objectifying” awards. As though feeling my gaze, she looks at me, rolling her eyes with an expression that mentally says “shut up”. I giggle blowing a kiss.
“And the Kelly Hollywood Television ‘best journalist’ award, this student showed diligence, dedication and always a jovial attitude in whatever she does, the award goes to...Alexandra Smith!”
Everyone applauded, but I went out of the way to stand, cheering loudly as she narrowed her eyes at me on her way up to the stage.
“That’s my bit—girl!” I chirp correcting myself before I acted my true—goofy—self. I could tell I gained eyes from my peripheral while I pestered my bestie, but Connor’s gaze was most capturing, as they scanned down my legs, over my butt, and up till they reached to meet mine. I blushed looking off, pulling my dress down again as I sat again.
The filming and photography starts as our professors did their introductions to the different categories. I sober up immediately as names began to get called for different awards. Connor earned three awards off of his photography, and I one. In the film-focused subjects I managed to be chosen for three awards. After grabbing my third award, I take a seat back at the table. Glancing over at Connor, he leaned back in his chair relaxed, one elbow is placed on the table, face leaning on it with his finger tapping at his pink lips. He gives a subjective smirk when our eyes meet, making me question the reason behind it. But I divert my attention as they go into discussing the film of the year.
“This year has been one full of ups and downs, rewards and disgraces, but what matters is at the end of the day all of you have made the staff, and UCLA extremely proud. The Film of the Year is an award granted to us by alumni, actor and filmmaker, Nicolas Cage. With the accomplishments he has, he wanted to pay tribute back to the School of Film, by allowing the winner to display their talents in a publication with the Cage Network.” Students all around erupt into whispers. Most coming from theatre and television side, who commented how they weren’t given this opportunity.
Sucks to suck. I thought giggling internally.
“We will now play a snippet of all of the nominees.” The first few videos were executed well, very worthy of the award. Connor’s video comes on now, gaining everyone’s attention instantly by its electrifying music and vibrant effects just from the start. As his went off a few of his friends cheered for him, he sends playful winks to them before looking over at me. Ignoring him, I continue watching as my film shows.
Nerves rumbled my stomach, the sudden doubt of the turnout on my film clouding my mind as I watched, critiquing it even in its published form.
Finishing out the rest of the nominees, the screen went black and attention was back on the professor Knox. “All of the films were impeccable, the decision was extremely hard to make, so hard that we have a two-way tie,” we all commenced in disappointed-confused-chatter, “these two films chosen were remarkable, we deliberated indepthly on the scores and grading but they were identical in it’s punctuality and creativity. The winners are…”
For a moment all sound mutes, only the echoing voice of professor Knox could be heard as he says, “Connor Brashier and Danielle Golding!” It felt like slow motion the way I slowly whipped my head to Connor. He wore a content smile, scooting out of his seat to go accept the award. Blinking back into the reality of things, I pushed out of my chair as well.
My wide eyes flash to Alex as she’s practically yelling, “that’s my girlfriend!” She earned a few quizzical frowns, causing me to chuckle.
Still baffled by the choice, I took my spot beside Connor as Knox commanded the rest of the award-winners to come up on stage. Connor and I held the award together, his fingertips pressed against mine as we pushed closer together to fit into the group photo.
The president said his ending message, concluding the event. Loud chatter drowned out the music playing in the background as everyone regrouped with their people.
As I made my way to Alex, people stopped to congratulate me, I bowed my head in gratitude, genuinely stunned at all my winnings. I knew I said I wanted to win every category I was in, but I still expected a few awards, not this many. And let me not forget to mention, I’m one step closer to the breakout I needed from winning this award...even if I was partnering on it.
“Congratulations biiitch!” Alex yells, an adult walking by scolds her language as soon as it came out. I guffawed nearly dropping all the awards.
“Congratulations to you, Ms. objectify our talents and in an attic somewhere.” I mock earning a slap to my bare arm. Playfully wincing, I continued laughing until her face went straight, a soft smirk replacing, her eyes directed to something-or-one behind me. Turning, Connor—and a crowd mixed of giggling girls and ‘star struck’ guys—stood holding the film reel trophy.
“I gotta say, that wasn’t the outcome I expected.” Before I respond, I look at Alex, who already knew what to do. She takes my awards informing she was going to take them to the car.
Facing Connor now, I cross my arms over my chest and give him a quizzical smile, “what outcome were you expecting then?”
He shrugs his shoulders, “for you to win alone, I mean for an actual cinematographer, I’m grateful they found my film great, but you rightfully deserve it.” He acknowledge, extending it out towards me.
“I’m a videographer, so, I agree. But I can’t take away from your talents, it really was a tie breaking situation.” I assured with a subtle shrug, pushing the trophy back to him.
“Connor, Danielle, can I take a photo of you guys?” The journalist asks. All work and no play around here, I guess. I think to myself until the feel of Connor’s hand snakes around my side, delicate and cautious as though I was going to break under his touch. He rested it right at the small of my back. An electrifying feeling coursed my body at the touch. I scooted closer to him, taking in his cologne I got a whiff of earlier this evening. Wrapping my arm around his waist, I tilted my head just enough it nearly leaned against his shoulder. Smiling, the picture was taken and the journalist walks off after thanking us.
Before Connor release me, he leans his head down close enough that his lips brush the top of my ear. “Think about it, we can be taking pictures just like this on a red carpet someday.” And with that he releases me and sinks into the waiting crowd, engulfing himself in conversation with them. Not leaving me the chance to respond.
And so I did, I thought about the red carpet pictures, and the bright lights. How I could be famous from my work one day—not that it was my reasoning for doing this, but it wouldn’t hurt to be noted for my hard work—I never thought I would be doing it with him, Connor Brashier, a guy that, before tonight, didn’t how he sounded when he talked.  But I guess if I’m going to be taking pictures with someone, he’s a good pick. I mean, he is easy on the eyes.
Overtime, people leave, conversation dies down and the clean up crew makes their way in. I stood in the foyer lost in discussion with professor Knox as he told me the details of what was to come for the project. There were minor changes that needed to be made since it was the two of us, but the overall objective still remained the same.
“As brilliant as you two are behind a camera, I’m sure everything will succeed ultimately. We weren’t torn between you for no reason. You two bring the most publicity to our part of the school with what you put out. If you guys manage to have good chemistry, there will be a rule of awakening in the world of film.” His words struck me, the amount of confidence he, and apparently the rest of the staff, had in Connor and I. I would have never expected it.
He exits out of the building leaving me with my whirlwind of thoughts. I don’t know Connor. Sure, I’ve worked on mini projects with him, but they required little to no interaction–to add it was a year ago when we did that project.
This was an entirely different echelon of work. This wasn’t a mere grade, this was meant to provoke feeling into the public, draw their attention and want more. We were basically selling ourselves to the world.
Still lost in thought, I don’t notice, until the familiar scent fills my nose that Connor also entered the foyer. He was alone–for once–and his hands were tucked away in his pockets his doe-eyes and solemn porcelain face, it always seem as though he was mad, but his lips displayed a smile that decreased that idea.
“I don’t know you, and I know you don’t know me, but my gut is telling me this will be a great hit for us both.” Connor moves closer, but stays a safe proximity away as his eyes bore into hers.
I’m not easy to fall for a pretty set of eyes, and a tempting set of lips but I think I met my match as I feel stuck for words. Clearing my throat I turn away from high slightly, “you think so huh?”
“For sure, I’m not trying to sound psychological, but you have an open mind, and a keen sense for capturing things in its raw form. You can’t make that. That’s natural.”
“Okay Dr. Brashier.” I flirt, watching his teeth bite into his bottom lip. “Well needless to say, with this project you’ll probably find out that side I don’t let on.” I lower my voice, lightly trailing a finger on his arm.
“Danielle.” Alex says at the door, almost on cue.
Connor shutters, licking his lips as I walk away, keeping my eyes trained on him. “See ya soon.” I whisper at last.
“You are honestly too much.” Alex mutters once we’re in the car.
Batting my eyes innocently I look at her, “what are you talking about?”
“Don’t hurt that boy, he seems so innocent.”
Feigning offense, I purse my lips. “I’m only going to do what he allows, life doesn’t throw bubble wrap lemons at us right?”
Alex glares at me, “bitch what?”
“Exactly.” I say final, knowing I was talking out of my ass, but I did mean what I said. I’m not here to hurt, but he knows what he can and can’t handle. This project could do either one.
I honestly planned to make this a one part imagine but now I’m leaning more towards a fic [and depending on if you guys like it I definitely will]. I haven’t thought the plot through completely though so...yeah. Hope you enjoyed this Connor!InASuit content (because I know I enjoy Connor in a suit, no matter how long ago it was). More to come :)

Week 8- Group one’s shoot
Tumblr media
The final shot division and Vedanti and I completed Master-breakdown which was finished at the same time  Diya (cinematographer) and Paarth(director) were working on the shot division accordingly. All of us worked together forward after complying with each other. With this finished, we needed to work on our locations for the shoot. We ended the class the other photoshop file menu, edit the menu and revised other things. We went on to have a small revision of component  4.
Tumblr media
This week was the other group and we were assisting the other group for their shoot as their group was going to shoot first. The group consists of Production designer- Adrija, Director- keyosha, Editor- Vedant & cinematographer -Jaahnvi. Giving a little summary of the story which represents the LGBT issue in India where 2 women fall in love. 1 married and mistreated by her husband longing for love and the other college student who has been discovering herself. Their trailer not only represents the love but with the consequence of living with it.
Setting up for shoot:
We begin by helping Adrija by going through her checklist of items needed on the set. My duty on the set was to assist the production designer and click stills for the group. Before the shoot, the team required diffusers for the lights so the assisting team and I helped them out. I saw Adrija getting panicked with the documents and asked the team if I can help them with it so I took the responsibility of setting the documents properly and make a prop that was going to be used in the reading scene. I was supposed to type texts which represented the love between two characters as the character readers that text from the book in the library scene to emphasize longing love.
Tumblr media
The class started out by the team and the assisting team having pre-production discussing to recheck all the requirements and materials before the shoot Iiket he teaming going through the schedule and the checklist to ensure the shoot is in order and the production designer gave each person on the group what to bring for tomorrow’s shoot. I asked the team if they needed help and took up the task of sort out, get the documents ready and bring makeup sponges and brushes for makeup.
Shoot day 1:
Tumblr media
Before the shoot, sir suggested us to make 2 diffusers because we will be needing it during the shoot. A diffusion filter is used in front of a flash or studio light to soften the light on the object it is being fallen on. So we had some time in our hands before the shoot starts to finish making them.
On our way to the location, we made ourselves clear of what our jobs at the shoot were going to be. I was in charge of helping Adrija who was the production designer and take stills of the groups during the shoot.
Reaching the location we went through the schedules. The team was in constant contact with the actors on their location and the time. Another important piece of equipment which was would enhance the quality of the product was the lighting. This year we had rented lights for our shoots to learn more about this equipment and how to handle the lights and explained how to use them as well. He even went over its different functions and situations it would be needed to create what kind of effect.
Tumblr media
we were introduced to two kinds of lights:
Tumblr media
Ring lights have circular lights that have an amount in the centre, so the camera's point of view is identical to the direction from which the light is coming from. This light is mostly used by YouTubers while filming videos.
Tumblr media
Flashpoint Shoe Mountable LED lights which are used to shoot professional video. Uses an LED panel that emits lights and the light colour can be made more yellow tone to give daylight effect or the panel can make the light harsher accordingly.
After the actors arrived they were offered any refreshments if they needed and then the teams introduced ourselves gave them an idea about their outcome they wanted and what the trailers we about (the basic idea).
Makeup, costumes, and characters' identity (the person characters) were briefed to the characters while they got ready. I helped Adrija iron press the costumes so it wouldn't look wrinkly on the camera and got the actors into the costume the meanwhile the rest of the crew went down to set up everything else. Adrija running around handling the makeup of both the actors I thought of helping her assist the makeup of one of the actors. With both of us working together. I helping Kia's makeup while Adrija guided me on how to go about it and she did an amazing job with the other actor's makeup.
Beginning of every shoot we have a little prayer and focus the camera on the photo frame of Lord Ganesh who is said to make us feel more powerful and not led down if any problems come in our way.
lights!camera!action the first shot was going around the two characters as they shoot in the park.
Tumblr media
The location was very windy and the weather was unstable as it could rain anytime so we had to do things precisely and fast. There were scenes in the park where the two characters were seen holding hands and walking and sitting on the steps talking about how their relationship will not be accepted. The scene was designed well and the branding part was well established in these shoots eg; juices boxes and Balaji chips packet was seen well in the holding hand's scene.
Tumblr media
Only after a short while, when we shot the last shoot for that scene the weather changed and it was raining quite heavily. We had to pick up the equipment and run inside to make sure there was no damage. We soon realized if we shoot further on the continuity would be an issue so the decision was then to pack up from this location and go to the next one which was the house. were scenes between the two character and one of the scenes of the main character between her husband and son were going to be shot.
Location 2 was the house had scenes between the two character and one of the scenes of the main character between her husband and son were going to be shot.
The actors from the previously seen had arrived with the team but we were waiting for the male actor who was one of the main character's husband. As soon as the character arrived they were taken for makeup and costumes.
I was assisting Adrija and helping her finish Kiara’s hair meanwhile the other actors get changed.
Tumblr media
Going further with the makeup of the actors. Adrija was freaking out a little so I took in charge to help out in doing the makeup for the male actor.
Tumblr media
This was a good experience and would be really helpful for keeping my shoot coming up in mind. During the production process was going on the rest of the team was Checking the frame of the shot and setting up the room with lights in its position. At this location, we had only 3 scenes to shoot.
Tumblr media
The first shot was of Preeti's husband screaming at her for the food not being good enough and a shot of her son in the bad ground. The shot was planned well and the cinematographer took a close up shot of her face to bring out her emotions which I thought was a good idea but however, I felt the lighting of the room did not suit the overall effect. The scene had good continuity as the next shoot was of the character sitting and cry venting out her feeling.
Tumblr media
The scene was lovely as the two lovers come close together. The setting of the scene was well placed to bring out the playful effect of falling in love again.
Tumblr media
Today's shot ended on a good note and the call time for day 2 was decided 8 in the morning at school.

Shoot 2 :
Tumblr media
We assembled at the location which was library of holy crossed high school which was one of  Mumbai's oldest schools. The library looks very aesthetics very pleasing. We reached the school before the actors arrived to have run though with the shoots and set up the location before the first scene. As you can see above the team was in full motivation discussing the scenes. There was about 3-4 scene in the library.
Tumblr media
The first scene the book scene where the two of them meet and express their unsaid feeling to each other through the action of highting a beautiful sentence in the book. I found this scene to be very creative and the production of the setting was wonderful. The old vintage look of the library with the placement of the area which was going to be shot.
Tumblr media
Moving onto the next teardrop scene of the character which was a close-up shot of the actor got chills down the spine as it was not only well directed but the lighting added that effect well. In this scene thou, hey had decided to keep the makeup nature to give the worn outlook which was a good decision.
Tumblr media
My job was in this shoot too was taking stills for my other team members and help to shift properties for the setting which was a fun task but shifting tables was difficult.
Tumblr media
The last scenes that took a lot of time were the two characters hiding for the people who are behind them because they do not approve their love. Vedanti and I stood in the position just to take the focus.
Tumblr media
This scene needed complete darkness so all of us stood against the windows to give that effect. The library had 4 big windows so Vedanti and I stood up against the window with a huge rug which did not let the light pass through.
Tumblr media
After multiple shots taken they finally found the shot they were looking for and our hands hurt a lot but the shot came out to look very good.
Tumblr media
The shoot finally came to an end and we thanked each other for all the efforts that each one of us put in. The efforts surely paid off with a great output which achieved. The teamwork and nicely done scene planning made the shoot go smoother. This shot gave us good exposure to working with professional actors and how to deal with the different situation which we could overcome by just find a different way. We hope our shoot which was coming up goes as well like the other teams.

258: 22 French Beauty Secrets Worth the Investment in either time or money
Tumblr media
"Beauty begins the moment you decide to be yourself."
—Coco Chanel
Each time I have finished reading a beauty book that offers advice I welcome into my regular routine, I think there will be no need to read another book. But the truth is, as we know, as we grow older, so too does are skin; consequently, our need to understand how to best take care of the skin at the age we are become necessary.
Since the publication of Ageless Beauty: The French Way by Clémence von Mueffling, TSLL readers continued to recommend it, and it wasn't until this summer that I purchased it and read it in one afternoon and evening. I highly recommend it if you are looking for specific beauty product recommendations for your skin at every stage of aging - jeunesse (20-35) to maturité (55-older).
Sharing not only specific beauty routine ideas but also offering detailed explanations so that readers can understand why they are doing what they are doing to justify the investment, the book will be a resource I return to in the future as well when I begin to step from plénitude, as she describes 35-55.
But beauty when it comes to products for skincare and makeup are not all that is covered. She writes about food, exercise and carriage, as well as hair and perfume.
Today, what I'd like to share with you are 22 beauty secrets that caught my attention and that I either have found to be high advantageous or are new ideas I am now incorporating into my routine. Let's get started.
~Be sure to tune into the audio version of this episode as much more detail is shared than what is shared below.
1.Regularly and properly hydrate your skin
A skin's quality determines the aesthetic beauty of one's exterior appearance. "Well-hydrated skin that is dewy and glowing optimally reflects light in a flattering way that makes it look almost like silk."
2. Attention to one's skin must be a regular routine to see the difference you are seeking
"One of the most important components of any French woman's beauty routine is just that — it's routine."
—Clémence von Mueffling
3. Attend to proper posture
4. Adopt a cleansing routine that properly cleans and cares for your skin
Mueffling advocates for washing your face twice (the first time to rid your face of impurities, pollution and makeup - preferrably with a creamy product; the second, to clean the topmost layer which "optimizes the skin's natural protection and regeneration which primarily takes place while you're sleeping"). And while I have only been washing my face once each time I wash my face - in the morning and evening, I have now begun to wash my face twice in the evening as she has suggested.
However, as she reminds, the goal is not squeaky, clean skin as that would be counter to what the desired goal is. Rather, it is about cleansing and caring for our skin so that the serums, oils and moisturizes we then apply will be able to properly penetrate enabling the investment we have made in these products to work as they are intended.
Depending upon your skin type, she delineates the different types of cleansers to consider in chapter 2: milk cleanser, foaming cleanser, cleansing gel, cleansing oil, micellar water and toner.
~read about micellar water and why I added this beauty essential to my cleansing routine a couple of years ago and continue to love it.
5. Apply a toner after cleansing with a cotton ball.
What is the purpose of a toner? As she shares, toners have received a bad rap for being "unnecessarily or overly harsh". Case in point, for the past 10 years, I haven't used one, but did during my 20s. She explains that toners when made properly as the more modern, natural toners are that are available, "use plant essences to deliver targeted ingredients deep into the skin". The reason for using a toner after cleansing and before you apply your serums and moisturizers is to make sure that what follows will be absorbed effectively.
~I recently began using Clarins Camomile toner per her recommendation and find it be soothing, as well as affordable.
6. Make sure your skin is pat dry after cleansing and toning and before applying any serums or moisturizers
7. Start early and be consistent
"French women know that the earlier you start a comprehensive skincare regimen, the more youthful your skin will remain."
8. Find a quality hydrating moisturizer as it is essential to your skincare routine
I finally found a moisturizer that works well, especially in the arid climate that I live in - La Mer. However, she recommends many moisturizers at varying price points, some below and some above what La Mer is priced.
9. Apply any oils or serums on BEFORE applying your moisturizers
I have read conflicting commentary on which should come first, but I am trusting Clémence on this one. Whether you apply a serum or an oil after your toner, apply it after your toner and before your moisturizers (face and eyes). Why? For the same reason the toner and the second cleansing is used to ensure that the moisturizers can properly penetrate and do their intended job.
10. Consider welcoming a humidifier into your home
Living in an arid climate, for some reason it took me four years to follow this sage recommendation. However, if you live in a tropical or humid climate, there is no need as the moisture that the humidifier provides is already done naturally in the environment in which you live.
Why a humidifier? Remember, the goal is to regularly and adequately hydrate your skin, and especially during your sleep, by keeping your skin hydrated you enable the products to not have to be asked to do more than they are capable of, but your body retains more moisture offering that healthy glow you are looking for.
~1st recommendation (what I use in my home) Honeywell Germ-Free Humidifier
~2nd recommendation Pure Enrichment Mistair humidifier
11. Apply a spritz of thermal spring water
After finishing your evening beauty cleansing and moisturizing routine, spritz a bit of thermal spring water on your face. As well, after cleansing in the morning, apply for a a bit more hydrating and extra dewy glow. Blot off gently after letting it sit on your skin for about one minute.
~I am not using after her recommendation Avène's Thermal Spring Water, and based on the size of the bottle, I will have it for some time.
12. Find and use a hydrating and healing lip balm
It has taken me a long time to find a lip balm that does just these two things, and it was found after reading this book. Bioderma's lip balm stick will cost you $4.90 at the most and is soothing and exactly what I was looking for. Apply throughout the day and especially just before going to bed.
13. High SPFs are a good idea, let me explain AND consider reducing your time in the sun even when you are wearing sunscreen
Perhaps you have heard it as well when you share with others that you are wearing SPF 50 or higher, "beyond [insert number], the SPF doesn't matter". First all, that is incorrect, and second of all, it's absolutely incorrect! Okay, now that I've gotten that off my chest. Mueffling explains that SPF is a measure of a sunscreen's ability to prevent UVB from damaging the skin and can be used to approximately how many minutes you can remain in the sun without burning. So yes, wearing SPF 60 as I do, especially on your face, it will save you money and time.
But let's back-up what is the difference between UVA (which sunscreens do not protect against) and UVB (which sunscreens do protect against). Understanding the difference has motivated me to stay out of the sun as much as possible during the highest and most direct sun exposure times of the day. UVA (the long waves responsible for aging) are the most harmful because they can cause "the most injury to our cells' they are able to reach inside cells and damage the genetic code, impacting the cells' ability to produce good-quality collagen, hyaluronic acid, and the other proteins needed for proper functioning". UVB rays (the short waves responsible for burning, redness, pigmentation and the superficial damage that occurs immediately after sun exposure) can be protected against with sunscreen (when applied regularly).
So, consider limiting your sun exposure and consider increasing the SPF.
14. Help your skin out while you are traveling, especially on the plane, and refrain from drinking alcohol while in flight
15. Avoid spritzing your face while traveling (plane) as it actually will dry your skin out even more
16. Moisturize your hands regularly
Hand creams to try:
Clarins Hand and Nail Treatment Cream (recommended by Heidi Wynne)
L'Occitane Shea Butter Hand Cream
17. Add a facial massage to your weekly beauty routine
Something that you can do at home, she provides three basic techniques for massaging your face with a moisturizer you already use. As our facial muscles need to not be contracted all of the time, so when we give them a massage we are asking them to relax. A facial massage will help your facial muscles retain elasticity and remain firm.
18. Visit a facialist regularly
Depending upon your age, von Mueffling recommends jeunesse receive a professional facial every season (every three months), plénitude every two months and maturité every month.
By visiting a reputable esthetician you can keep your skin in its best shape, combat problems that may arise quickly and accurately without doing more damage and improve the quality of your everyday skincare routine.
19. Eat skin-friendly foods
Sharing a long list of best foods to eat, at the core of such a food regimen is eating food that is sufficient in healthy fats, low in caffeine and very spicy foods, regularly include citrus and offering diversity and brilliant colors.
~Why Not . . . Feed Your Body Well?
20. Your Décolleté Needs Extra Care and Attention
From cleansing to moisturizing, remember to not only tend to your face and neck but the area between and just above your breasts.
21. Exercise Regularly and Well
~Why Not . . . Get and Stay in Shape?
22. Prioritize Quality Sleep
~Why Not . . . Get A Good Night's Sleep?

TDR Charm School 4 Final Exam - It's the Final Countdown
For the final exam, our students had to produce a mock audition filled with everything they’ve learned from the beginning of their time in Tumblr’s Drag Race Charm School 4, decked out in their fabulous Personalized Prom and Why You Gotta Be So Extra-curricular looks. Let’s see how they did!
Kushboo

Extracurricular Activity: Student Government
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Letha: Hey Girl! So starting with the Prom look, I quite like it! The combo of the black/gold really goes well together, and the brown hair works with it as well. I will say the dress is a bit short and it should either be lengthened or shortened to have a silhouette that makes a bit more sense. The white heels throw off the outfit a bit as well. The styling of the hair could be neater but the height/volume is definitely there! I think if there was a little headpiece or gold crown or something it might add more interest to that area and tie it in with the outfit. On to the extra curricular look, I do very much get that feel from the top half of the outfit, including the hair (very Michelle Obama), and the skirt is a bit more out there which helps to make it less pedestrian in that regard. I think having maybe some signs or other props might have helped sell it more as well, as the journal is okay but not the most effective. For the lipsync, I think you had good presence and sold the song, but I wish you had connected more with the audience throughout through the lens. Performing on camera is a bit different than real life, in that looking into the lens is how you connect with people. You can deviate from that and emote/focus on other areas for a little bit, but you should always try to return to the lens. But the overlay and emoting is great! For the monologue I must admit I was a bit lost. I wasn't too familiar with Tennyson if I'm honest, but after reading up a bit on Ulysses this was a very interesting choice indeed. I think you could have sold it a bit more? Emoting frustration and discontent might have made it a bit more clear, in my opinion. Finally, the makeup! I think you really have improved throughout this cycle and it does show, but there are things that I think you could work on. One would be to make your lips more dimensional, with either outlining in a darker color, highlighting the center with a lighter color, or both. Same for the brows, the shape on the prom look is fun but a bit static, and the shape on the government look is very flat and not a shape that would be easy to emote through. I like the colors your picked on their own, but I'm not sure if they coordinate with your outfit choices, so keep that in mind for next time. Your lashes are looking better placed, now would be a good time to start practicing doing liner, either a really sharp wing of or a smoked out pencil. It really adds dimension and helps to restructure things. I think that just about wraps it up for me, so I'll leave you with saying how proud I am of your progress and can't wait to see what your Drag will evolve to after charm school!
Laveau: KUSH. This prom look is AMAZING. You look amazing! I love the entire package. The only thing I would have liked to see is more jewelry. May be a bracelet or a bigger necklace to give it a more elegant touch. I am enjoying this beehive on your head. It’s a bit messy, so going forward, be careful and pay attention to the little details as far as that is concerned. While your makeup has improved, you still have work to do, but don’t let that stop you from being proud of your progress so far. As for your student government look, I feel like you were going for the right idea but then you lost me with the skirt. It just feels like you either didn’t have a pencil skirt or just wanted to add an unconventional element to the look and it kind of takes away from the look as a whole. A better way to sell this concept would have been to incorporate more school supplies in the rest of the outfit. A fascinator made out of pencils or paper balls would have tied the look together a bit more. I really enjoyed your lip-sync! I appreciate the attitude and range of emotion throughout your performance. It was definitely fun to watch! Your monologue was well done. It was a bit hard to follow, but I do appreciate the concept. You have grown leaps and bounds in this competition. I am so proud of you and I can’t wait to see what you do in the future! <3
Sally: Hi Kushboo! I’m gonna talk about your outfits first, and then your audition reel. There are really intelligent attempts at work here, and I’m impressed with most elements, however there are some things to look out for next time. Both outfits seem to have flair about them that works super well, but technical issues seem to produce problems for me. Your prom look is stellar – the black and gold colour clash is really appealing, I get prom from this clearly and your character to me defines elegance so it wouldn’t be wrong to see Kushboo rock up to prom in eleganza like this. Remember to give us head to toe camera angles – these are close to head to toe, but I can’t see you feet until I watch your audition reel so I don’t know if you’re not wearing heels or not and if they correspond to your dress too – I don’t think they do correspond, but we’ll let it slide. Your exposure on the first picture with the light makes you look really heavenly but the second one diminishes details that I can see with the exposure. Your student government look is super cute; you look like you’re running for like Junior Councillor for the Head of a school, but the flair of having an unconventional skirt with resist propaganda on is a really smart touch. I wouldn’t have mind if your entire jacket had it too, or if the colours matched up better, i.e. writing with bright red / grey on black paper perhaps. Again, careful of your angles, I wanna see your shoes in your pictures next time and I don’t care if you’re wearing little biscuit heels or jelly flip flops! In your audition, it was quite long and I can see room for small technical touches here and there. For example, I’ve noticed you use fillers (um and erm) – with that you could cut out those and any pauses you too, that way your point comes across quicker and your train of thought is clearer through the edit. Remember to nail your runway in 15 seconds – it’s better to edit out your walk to your starting point rather than have it within your audition, and try to have your full body in the frame so that we can see the entirety of your costume move too.  All in all, you’ve excelled really well in your knowledge of yourself and progressing your drag character throughout charm school. I’m really proud to see your journey continue to this point. Great job!
Toni: KUSHHHHHHHHHHHHHIm going to be doing this by segments so lets start with your outfits! I really love your prom look because I think based on what you've shown us it really does reflect your personal style. It's giving me Cinderllas stepsisters from into the woods and I really enjoy that. I think if there were a lot of stones added to the outfit as well as having the hair cleaned up a bit more and look more sleek it would be a perfect look In my opinion. The student government look I am really conflicted about. I get what you're trying to go for but I think if you wanted to do that you should have done all NONCON or all cloth just because theres a huge disconnect between the top and the bottom. I also think if you had done a suit or a jacket as well that would have been fierce. Your lipsync was SO GOOD I really enjoyed watching it and I think you kept it interesting through the whole thing so props on that. I would love to see you push the energy up thought to make it AMAZING. For your monologue the background noise was a large distraction but I do really enjoy what you produced, I think there were a few awkward pauses and I can't tell if you meant them to be there or if you were trying to remember lines but they need to be not there. I am so proud of everything you have done and how much you have grown <3
Dotte: I am absolutely LIVING for your prom look! I wish the other concept you had was better realized. A lot of the focal point is on the skirt and it doesn't really match the rest of the outfit. Ahhhhhh your lipsync was so cute though I feel like you've shown massive amounts of improvement there. Like we talked about, it's important to know what to do when there isn't any music playing and I'm glad to see you've figured that out. And I like this camera setting you have! It really allows for us to see your face really well! I'm so proud of you! Cycle 10 will be here sooner than you think and I can't wait to see what you do in the time between then and now!
Marcella: Ok Kushboo, this was a colossally long video, and it didn’t have to be. It’s important to plan your answers, and use things like jump cuts if you’re stalling a lot. That said, I think your responses were spot on for you and you have a good sense of self-perspective. I loved your prom look, and I felt your make-up for it was your best yet. Now for the lipsync – good choice, great job of articulating the unusual sounds in the song, and decent job of occupying the space and keeping it interesting. Between now and c10, I want you to work on your finesse. Your ideas and the aesthetic you’re going for are solid, but I want you to really focus in on details, and executing things as flawlessly as you possibly can, because honestly I think that is your biggest weakness as of now. I know you have it in you to polish up! Good luck for c10!
Harper: Whew, this was a long video! I think something that works for you is that you are very authentic and earnest, and that really comes through when you are speaking. I'd agree with some of the other judges that you could stand to edit out some of this (and film in horizontal next time, please), because while I think you did a fine job answering questions, it was a little dry in some spots. Try to be concise, personable, and minimize the sniffing! I liked your prom outfit, and I think it's very true to your aesthetic. I would like to see you wear a corset with a bit more structure to give you a smooth silhouette, and I will pass on to you the same critique that I'm sending to everyone tonight: LASHES. BIG ONES. I think you have a tendency to have really good ideas that just fall a little short on execution, and that's something you can really work towards in the future. I thought you did a nice job with the monologue and the lip sync, and this was overall a good final submission for you. Can't wait to see how you continue to progress, best of luck!

Letha: Hey Luna! First off, well edited video. Everything is clear and labeled which certainly helps. On to the actual content, starting with the prom look. I love it from head to toe. The hair is very effortless but it works for me, the crown adds a nice touch of shine, and the black and red color scheme is gorgeous. I wish there were some nails though. For the makeup on the prom look, overall it's really good, love the red lip, my main critique would be to try for a harsher cheek contour, as the one you have now is very light and gets washed out easily when seen from a distance. For the sports look I really enjoy the boxing idea, and you really committed to it! The outfit and hair choices make sense. That being said, the end result is maybe a bit too totally masculine for me. I think if the shape was a bit more feminine with boobs/pads it might come across better. Also the flats make SENSE but I just think doing a black pump with a red leg warmer would be a bit more drag than a sneaker, ya know? The makeup here isn't bad either, a bit subtle though. The blood works but I think some more   Sfx makeup would have sold it a bit more. On to the performances! The monologue. Girl. Gretchen's Crack has a long and infamous tdr history for being quite overdone, so I was surprised to see it done again. That being said, it was okay, there have certainly been worse renditions of it. Now the lipsync is where you really shone, in my opinion. I was thoroughly entertained and you really pulled every stunt/trick out of the bag. The song was a classic and you had your words down, so props to you! I'm so proud of the work you've put into this cycle and can't wait to see where your drag takes you next!
Laveau: Luna! I see you are here to knock out the competition! One of the things I appreciate most about you and your drag is the attention to detail and how you package your content. I love the cohesive color scheme and how you tied everything together. I absolutely love your after school look. The oversized robe, the realistic blood, the attitude, but I feel like it lacks a certain drag flare. If you are to continue on to TDR C10, one thing that will set your submissions apart from the competition is adding a little bit of razzle dazzle (see: glitter/rhinestones/sparkles). I feel the same way about your personalized prom look. While it’s absolutely gorgeous and screams Luna, it leaves me wanting more. I feel like jewelry and/or rhinestones could have amplified this look to its full potential. Your monologue was HILARIOUS. Idk if you were going for an even more crazed/deranged version of Gretchen Weiners, but you nailed it. But girl…this lip-sync… IS HOW YOU LIPSYNC FOR THE CROWN! That is how you fill an instrumental break!!! There was never a dull moment and for that, I thank you. Overall, I think you have shown fantastic growth as a queen throughout charm school and I can’t wait to see what you do in the future! <3 Win, lose, or draw, you’re already a winner in my heart. <3
Sally: Hello Luna! I am gonna start off by critiquing your outfits and then your audition. Your outfits overall were not what I was expecting coming from your amazing turnout for costuming week with these themes, I was a tad let down by some choices, but others brought it back up. You look adorable in your prom look, albeit looking a tad costume-y. Your styling is super cute and from head to toe the concept works well with your aesthetic. While your nose is looking pinched and proper, I’m losing definition around the cheeks – it’s probably just a personal thing for me, but if you could practice adding a flush of colour to the cheeks – a blush or a darker contour tone might bring out some definition there too.  For your athletic wear, I like some elements, and others just throw this off. Those shorts are hurting my soul so much, because of the cut of them, and I would’ve preferred you in an actual bra than compression bra, because I am losing proportions. When you get a concept like Athletics, it is hard to get out of the idea that you have to pertain to the standard – wearing tennis skirts for tennis, going for a realness factor. When you get an assignment, you should always question how you can make it draggier. Rhinestone your gloves, make your robe have a crazy train, little things like that can amplify your concepts, and surpass your progression from past weeks.Your audition was really well constructed, and I enjoyed watching it. Your runways were concise, quick and simple, You had your flow down to a T and you moved really elegantly. You have such a strong camera presence and I was really surprised that I could still hear you over your music in the monologue section (be mindful if your overlay music is loud, turn it down if you can!) All in all, you’ve really defined yourself as a strong competitor consistently, and even when you had your lows, you managed to improve on yourself for a comeback each week. Great job!!
Toni: I plan on doing this by segments so lets start with your outfits! I really love your boxing out fit! When you first suggested it to me I was worried ti wouldn't come off as drag but it really does. i think the hair choice was really smart and I love the look head to toe. Looking in on the makeup its clear how much you've grown in charm school, I think a few minor things could be adjusted like the placement/angle of your brows could be changed to look a bit lower and I really would have loved to seen the same red lipstick you used in your prom look but a bit smeared to add the "i've been fighting" feel to it. Onto the prom look I really love this on you!! It reads as fun and girly but still lowkey badasss. I think the only thing I would change at all about this look is adding a few black stones onto the bodice just to add a little something extra. YOUR LIPSYNC WAS AMAZING! I really enjoyed what you did because there wasn't really a moment where I was bored or distracted away from it because you kept every bit fresh and new. I think the air guitar into a slipt was honestly amazing, and I love that you paired your lipsync up with a look because it really helped to sell the performance. Now onto your monologue.... I hate this monologue (not because you did it but like as a piece) and every cycle someone does it and thinks it's a good piece but there are better pieces you could have picked IMO. That being said I think it was a really good rendition of the piece but I did find the music very distracting to the point where I was unable to focus on you so in the future please make sure the music sin't too loud. My favorite thing to come form your Q&A was how you talked about not wanting to win jsut for yourself but so that you can fight on cycle 10 for the chance to lead and help build the community because thats a huge factor in what judges look for on cycles when planning to crown someone is "how will they do in the leadership role". You did an amazing job and I am so proud of everything you have done over the past few weeks <3
Marcella: Your video felt like a real tdr audition to me. Sectioning each part off, having slides for your questions, these sorts of things might seem insignificant but, to me, they show that you’ve acquired a degree of polish during charm school that I appreciate very much. I enjoyed your monologue, and your lipsync was thoroughly entertaining! I loved the splits and the leg guitar, and the energy was just so right. Look-wise, your sports drag was very unexpected, but I do feel it could have been dragged up some more. It felt a bit ‘boy’, especially when you were moving around for the performance. I know the shoes were fitting, but girl don’t let me see flats again, k? Between now and c10, I want you to experiment. Especially make-up wise: try lighter make-up, try different eye shapes, polish up that nose contour. See what happens when you twist and turn the basic silhouette of Luna and adapt her to different ideas and scenarios. Best of luck for c10!
Harper: Overall, I think you had the strongest submission this week. I thought both of your looks were distinctly you and well put together, my only critiques were that the prom dress was a bit Halloween Store and the extracurricular could have been a bit more femme. I really recommend getting some fake chicken cutlet titties! It wouldn't have been much, but just a little bit of curve and some Rachel-Green-From-Friends-Nipples could really make it read just a bit more feminine. Overall, I think your makeup is strong, but I'd like to see you in big lashes and with a bit more contrast. There's nothing wrong with using stark black, it's just learning how to incorporate that black with appropriate shades and highlights for the full effect. I would like to see you choose a different monologue for the real audition because, in my opinion, this one was a bit played out, but you did a nice job with it. Overall, though, I think your lip sync was the highlight of your submission. The song and the look worked together, and the routine was perfect for your tough-girl character. I lived for it! I know there's a lot of pressure coming into a competition where you might be held to a higher standard because you are starting at a more advanced place, but I think you did a great job of trying new things and refining your skills. Looking forward to seeing what you pull out for your actual audition because if this is any indication it will be great!

Letha: Hey girl! So starting with the outfits, I think the theater one is very cute, and it being shorter helps you get away with the shape not being the most flattering. That being said, I do like it. The prom dress is okay, a bit pedestrian/run of the mill, but the hair and flower crown help to make it a bit less conventional. My makeup notes for both looks are similar. Lashes are a must, work on blending the shadow on the eyes so there isn't a stark line, clean up contour lines on the cheeks, and better overdraw/define on the lips. I really enjoy the liner shape on both though! For the monologue, I had to google what it was about and having done that, I would say that the lines don't quite match up to the monologue, but it's not bad, you were just quiet and not really emoting as much as I think you could have. For the lipsync, you had some definite choreography and I quite liked the performance. It was a bit hard to see your sync at some points, as the lighting wasn't the best, so watch out for that in the future. Overall you should be very proud of the work you've done here in Charm School, and I can't wait to see where your drag goes from here!
Laveau: Marina: Your prom look is stunning but it looks like you grabbed a wig and a dress, pout them on and called it a day. Your makeup has improved for sure, but still lacks a certain element of refinement for drag. I love your after school look. It’s giving me Columbia from Rocky and I liiiiive. Would have liked to see some jewelry, but the outfit itself is cute. Your lipsync was very entertaining. I loved the emotion and dancing throughout the performance. I just wish you would have filmed in landscape so we could have seen the full frame.  Your mologue was good as well, It was just pretty hard to hear you throughout it. You come so close to nailing it, but I feel like attention to detail is holding you back. You say that procrastination is holding you back, so now that you know that about yourself you’ve got to work hard to overcome that in order to succeed if you continue on with TDR. Make a list of things from head to toe/start to finish that you need to prepare for your submissions and systematically check them off the list in a timely manner. I see the potential in your drag, but it feels like you keep missing the mark. Congratulations on all of your growth this semester, and I can’t wait to see what you do in the future <3
Sally: Hey, Marina! I will talk about your outfits, then your audition reel second. Both of your outfit choices really reflect you as a person, and I applaud you for that, however some elements can be added to produce a full effect. Your prom look teeters on being a bog standard dress - I can kind of see this at a prom, but not really. I see this being more of a forest nymph than personalised prom. I would’ve preferred a longer cut on your dress, so maybe you could’ve added more length to it with an underskirt perhaps and added a few embellishments to really drag up the dress. The colour story is great - remember to take pictures of your feet within the shots too because I can’t see your heels in either of your shots in your submission and your audition with this concept, therefore I don’t even know if you’re wearing heels. Your drama club look is so fun and I love it honestly - really cute, playful, I get drama from it instantly. The colours pop and it’s exciting. I would’ve loved to see some sort of prop with this to sell it more, maybe one of those drama masks on a stick and you just throw it on your runway, might’ve excelled this more. Your audition is a kind of toss up. Remember to find your light, use a flashlight on a phone from far aback if need be, because some of your shots are really, really dark. You come across as quite shy, remember that you’re only talking to a camera and whoever’s on the other side wants to see you to the fullest, so when you film, remind yourself to be true to you to the fullest. Your runways are quite quick, take your time and make sure to film in an area that you can see your entire body clearly, your second runway seems to be a bit darker and a bit off-centre. All in all, you have improved a hell of a lot since the start of this competition, you’ve really proved to yourself that you can achieve a lot when you’re against all odds and I applaud your hard work. Great work!
Harper: I was getting serious Joan Cusack vibes from you this week and I can't put my finger on exactly what it is. You are so young and have so much potential, but I'm going to be real with you for a second: you've had excuses every single week and they are going to cost you opportunities. point blank. I know that's hard to hear, but it's something that I've had to learn as well as someone who also struggles with time management issues. Moving on, I thought both costumes suited you and the wigs you paired them with, but I would have liked to have seen more pizzazz with your prom look! It just came off a little flat when your extra curricular look was was so fun. Your makeup has definitely come a long way, and I think you have really gotten the hang of what shapes suit your face. I think the next steps moving forward for you are going to be to clean up your lines and add a lash. Please. Lashes will be what takes your look to the next level! As female drag queens, we have to work twice as hard to be taken seriously, and that means really owning the transformation: padding, contouring, cinching, wigs, and lashes because if any part of the "real girl" underneath peaks through people WILL call you out for it. It's not fair, it's frustrating, but it is what it is. I think the lip sync and monologue were both good choices for you aesthetically, but PLEASE film in landscape mode! It really does make a big difference. I think you have grown a tremendous amount through charm school, and I really hope you stick with it. Good luck!

Letha: Girllll you know I love me some flowers so you had me with your prom look. I love the contrast of the stark (yet also muted) colors with the white. I think there could have been a bit more shape in the waist considering this length, but it's still very striking. I'm also not totally sure about the black shoes (I know shoes can be a bitch to find though, so forgiven). The makeup is great as an idea and I can see the direction it was taking, just work on cleaning up your lines to get that graphic style. I really do love this look though, the head piece is great. For the science look, it's honestly so fun. The shape is very much The Jetsons, and I love the transition of the appliqués from the outfit to the skin. I think a trim along the bottom of the dress would have helped clean up the lines, and I think maybe another color besides the white and purple would have added more interest, maybe a green? The hair is a bit of a nest but I think that was the intent so I can get behind that. The shapes on the makeup are interesting, but they just need to be defined/shaded/highlighted more to be believable and trick the eye. Also lashes are a must. For the monologue I was a bit lost, it seemed you were a bit stiff maybe? I'm not the most familiar with the material you pulled from, but it wasn't my favorite. The lipsync was great, as I expected, but check the overlay because it was off by quite a bit when you uploaded it. Still really good though! Overall, you have really outdone yourself, and looking back on week one you can see how far you've come. I'm so proud of you for that, and I hope you're proud of yourself as well!
Laveau: Miss Waters….I was so in love with your prom look until I got to the shoes. That being said, it’s obvious how much work went into making this look and you did a fantastic job. I wish the dress gave you more of a shape but that could be fixed with either larger padding or by cinching the garment a bit more at the waist. Your science look is KILLER. I love the concept and how you sold it. You look like a science experiment gone RIGHT. The hair and makeup could use a bit of refinement, but I absolutely love your concepts and style of drag. Your monologue was a bit monotone, so I would, in the future, work on changing inflection so that you can show a bigger range of emotion in acting challenges. On to the lip-sync. I love that I could feel the passion in your lipsync. This is the range of emotion I’m talking about. Bring that to your acting. Congratulations on a wonderful semester and I can’t wait to see what you do in the future! <3
Sally: Hey Ophelia! As per usual, I’m gonna give you my thoughts on the outfits and then your audition. Overall, your outfits are bold choices, but are a little rough around the edges. I’ll start by talking about your personalised prom, because it is extremely eye-catching. This is clearly Ophelia to the fullest and I’m seeing a strong aesthetic with what you enjoy in drag and how you produce your concepts in execution. It’s exciting, the colours you’ve chosen pop off the whites you’ve used in your scheme, and the clash of materials is exciting to look at. I would only say that the length of your gown doesn’t hit the floor, therefore exposes your black shoes. You could’ve added more fabric and flowers to the bottom, or even used socks and hot glued flowers onto the socks, putting them over your heels to make them correspond to your concept. For your science look, this is feeling a little bit rougher around the edges. I love that your silhouette is the shape of a science beaker and that your hair is frazzled like that of an experiment gone wrong, your purple scheme pops from the white again, and your choices in costume creation are so smart, but be careful with your makeup. I think a good example to look at for creative makeups like this for science is the partial face cover. Adrena Lin did this in Cycle 8 for the Pokepaint challenge using Muk, I think your normal face could’ve worked more than the scary-sludge lip you’ve done too.Your audition is super cute! Your camera presence is clearly strong, I feel like you know it’s a camera and not several people watching you on the other end which is a great attribute to have. You came across as quite awkward in your runway, make sure to just go with the flow when you walk, present yourself however you feel suited, and remember, take several takes if you have to! All in all, you’ve excelled into dragdom through this entire process and I’m really proud to see how well you’ve done throughout all of the weeks. Excellent work!
Toni: I'm going to be doing this by segments so lets start with your outfits! I think out fo the two the science one is my favorite. It has appliques and I am a slut for that, i love how the hair is styled and I think it's really fun but in a new way for you. I also want to point out the gloves because those are super cute. The makeup for that is really nice!! I would have just liked to see the eyes blended out so it was fading into the skin tone or if you had done like full black soot smokey eye to kinda match your hair. The prom look i really love too! the flowers are beautiful. I think it does lack a little shape but if you added a belt to it that could help the shape a lot. I also think if you had added a few stones among the flowers that just slightly catch the light that would have been cute too. The makeup for this one is the same as on the science one for me, just blend it a bit more so it doesn't look as harsh! onto your monologue it made almost no sense to me and I have literally no idea whats going on for it? I wish there was a bit of explanation in the video for it because I feel like it was kinda like a joke...that I just wasn't in on and for an audition or a show thats just...not good for the audience to not know whats going on. The lipsync was sadly off which i'm shocked to get from you because I know you know how to do that. Its hard to really judge the sync bc of that but I know you knew your words. I do wish there was an extra PUNCH of energy in this song. I think that would have really driven it home. I love that because of charm school you were able to find out more about your drag character and it's been so amazing to watch you grow these past few weeks!!! <3
Dotte: I wasn't expecting these looks from you at all! I love the ideas that you have going on here, but, as you said, attention to detail would be key here. One of my pet peeves is when someone's face is painted a color and their arms are bare. I'm not going to get into the lipsync missing it's sync but I'm really happy with the emotion you put into it. I hope you continue to experiment with different ways to lipsync and add complexity to your move-sets so it doesn't seem so "one-lineish." Hope you had fun on Charm School and thanks for playing!
Marcella: Ophelia, I was impressed with you this week. I felt you really pushed your costuming in particular, and both of your looks were super creative and pretty fierce. Your lipsync overlay was off :’[ but I could tell it was solid in spite of this. Great emotions as always, and good connection. I would love to have seen you inject a bit more drag flourish into your performance. You virtually HAVE to twirl when the beat kicks in, and I wish I’d seen you stomp and dance around a bit more. Your answers were very insightful and I definitely understand your drag character more from hearing you discuss your journey. To work on in the run-up to c10, I want you to think about exactly how Ophelia does everything. How does she sit, how does she dance, how does she interpret things? You’re onto a character, and I would love to see that character blossom and for you to fully embody her in every single aspect from head to toe. I wish you all the luck for c10!
Harper: I really liked the concept behind your looks, and I think both fit your character well. Something you touched on in your interview was the attention to detail, though, and I think that is definitely true for this week. I did not care for the fact that the body paint on your head and face didn't extend to your arms, and I feel as though you are relying on it again. It's fine to use the paint as a base, but the drag makeup should be good enough to stand on its own, and I feel that without the white it would not hold up. Take it a few steps further than what you are doing now, I know you are capable of it! I think that's also my critique for your lip sync. I'm going to hold you to a higher standard of the other girls because we share the lsfyl background, and mama... this overlay was very off. Don't be afraid to play with concepts for lip syncs in TDR like you did for LSFYL... most of the other girls are going into it doing really super basic lip syncs in dirty rooms and having a lsfyl background gives you a real opportunity to help yourself stand out in a positive way. I'm going to challenge you to think outside the box next time. I think the best part of this video is seeing how much more comfortable you are in front of the camera than you were when we met a few years ago. You seem so much more relaxed and personable and I'm really proud of you for that growth. Keep it up!

Where does my mental illness end and my sense of self begin? I have known something is amiss with my mind for a long time and I have called my affliction by many names. But now in its newest iteration it is shifting slowly from Major Depression to Bipolar Depression, or, maybe more inclusively, Majorly Bipolar Depression. With the exception of vitamin assistance, I have been unmedicated for a few years. The last time I took medication it was Wellbutrin, which made me more manic than I have ever been in my life. At half of the prescribed dosage, I was throwing McChicken’s at my mother’s head, hiding in bushes at 24 years old, planning my self-managed exodus from Nashville to Los Angeles, and getting my license to serve alcohol — I passed the test with flying colors. When I consulted my GP about the mania resultant of my medication, she told me I might be bipolar. I have and had bipolar friends, and though they say birds of a feather flock together, I didn’t feel my symptoms matched the bipolar symptoms exhibited by some of my companions. Their mania was unmedicated. My mania was medicated. Clearly there was a difference. But I’ve since learned that there are two different kinds of bipolar. As my bipolar friend Meredith would say: You’re either Amanda Bynes bipolar (Bipolar 1) or Catherine Zeta-Jones bipolar (Bipolar 2 - Bipolar Depression). Amanda Bynes has since publicly stated that her erratic behavior from 2012 to 2016 wasn’t the result of a mental illness but the result of substance abuse and all the problems that come with it. But, as I’ve found, once a sicko always a sicko. And so while she may currently be in an upswing in her cycle from stability to chaos, it pains me to say that her future holds all the inevitability of her past. That’s just the way it is for people like us. We can stage a return. We can find success. But in reality we only ever really learn how to shove the thought patterns that haunt us under the carpet, close the curtains and muffle out the noise. But the noise never goes away. It’s always there. Whether the buzzing of your mind be plaintive or strident, the buzzing persists and it never goes away.
Today I called my mother to go down the usual lists of complaints: nobody loves me, my hair is falling out, and my body is a prison that makes my life a kind of perpetual Chinese water torture of the soul. A pragmatic, sensible woman, my mother rarely knows what to say. She doesn’t know how to give me advice on topics pertaining to romance because of my homosexual lifestyle; she doesn’t know how to talk to me about my emotional struggles because she has never had a history with mental illness (neither has my father, who is in many ways the same as her); and she doesn’t understand me when I ask her for help. At best, she says, she can let me move back into a home in Nashville with no rent other than the constant tax of corrosive misunderstanding. The comfort of my home in Tennessee is a tomb perfectly prepared for me to waste the rest of my days away in anticipation of my approaching demise. But I know that I have been dying for some time now. Decomposition comes in varying stages, and in this particular manifestation the rot has started first with my mind and will then work its way outward. It is not an uncommon way to go, and in my extended family there is a history of dementia. Dementia took the mind of my next-door neighbor Dan, a former engineering professor at Vanderbilt University who struggled to remember his loved ones or even who he was in the last years of his life. It took the mind of my paternal grandmother in her last days and rendered her final bouts of consciousness a public fever dream on perfect display for my family to see. I only heard whispers of it, being that I was young at the time of her death, but I remember visiting her in the nursing home and then the hospital, and I remember the smell of sterility and decay that lived easily alongside one another. I remember the first time I saw a dead body, one that belonged to a man who was only ever called “Uncle Ronnie” and who I had never actually met. To meet someone only after they are basted with formaldehyde is a curious thing. When I saw his pale corpse in the open casket, a corpse whose lifeless pallor, resistant to every cosmetic effort, must have startled other attendees at the wake, I felt nothing. I learned that even dead bodies are held to a standard of perfection, and even dead bodies often fail to meet those standards.
Even today I often think of Uncle Ronnie. I still remember his face, his black hair, his delicate features. I remember that all I’ve ever known of him is death. For me, that is his legacy: that he died and that of all seven billion people upon the face of the Earth, his corpse was the first I ever witnessed. For my mother, bipolar disorder seems to be a kind of little death. She once had a good friend named Jill. Jill was bipolar. She forged checks and stole from her employers. She used to babysit me once upon a time, and when I was only four years old she would let me watch graphic movies like “Alien,” in which aliens can only give birth by planting their seed in the body of a living being. When the alien finally gestates and is ready to be born, it simply bursts from the host’s body and leaves them to die in a mess of blood and fleshy pulp. I remember watching the cartoon “Ren and Stimpy,” and it was at that point in my life that I learned the aesthetic potential of the grotesque and macabre. I forsook companionship with children my age for others who were three to five years older than me. Even they said I was “warped,” because my knowledge of sex, profanity and vulgarity was more advanced than anything they had known at my age. I was exposed to cigarettes early, alcohol early, everything just a tad earlier.  I learned most of what I knew from other children at St. Henry’s School, a place my parents had desperately tried to get me admitted to. It took a little coaxing from a family relative, but after much reluctance I was admitted. Even at a young age, I wasn’t looked upon as a genius or even as someone with average potential. My great aunt Emily had to harass a priest at St. Henry until they decided to give me the formality of an admissions test. And once I proved lackluster at that, she had to harass him some more. Little did my parents know, I would be reared in a den of charlatans. And though my mother constantly reminds me that she didn’t raise me to exhibit the behaviors I am prone to, she unwittingly unleashed me into a realm of the most expensive sin money can buy.
For much of my early exposure I have Jill to thank. But Jill has cemented in my mother’s mind a stigmatized perception of people with bipolar disorder. God forbid her son should have a variation of it, so even now she is in denial. When I told her over the phone today that I believe I have bipolar 2, she said, in desperation, “But you don’t have any of the symptoms!” The symptoms, according to the most direct Google search, are as follows: 1) mood swings, sadness, elevated mood, anger, anxiety, apathy, apprehension, euphoria, general discontent, guilt, hopelessness, loss of interest, or loss of interest or pleasure in activities; 2) irritability, risk taking behaviors, disorganized behavior, aggression, agitation, crying, excess desire for sex, hyperactivity, impulsivity, restlessness, or self-harm; 3) unwanted thoughts, delusion, lack of concentration, racing thoughts, slowness in activity, or false belief of superiority; 4) depression, manic episode, agitated depression, or paranoia; 5) difficulty falling asleep or excess sleepiness; 6) weight gain or weight loss; and 7) fatigue or rapid and frenzied speaking.
Looking at all of these symptoms, I can’t help but think that all of this is simply innate to the human condition. But at the end of the day, I can only speak to my human condition. In this lifetime, I can speak to no one else’s. And yet, to feel that there is some possibility of error in my cognitive makeup, that I am broken with little hope of drugless repair, is to know that there is a part of me that will always be lacking. Today I told my mother that in the last two months I stole merchandise worth thousands of dollars during my seasonal employment at Bloomingdales. More troubling still is that every time I stole from Bloomingdales I was in a good mood. With this condition it just goes to show that both highs and lows are dangerous. If I’m in a bad mood I might kill myself, and if I’m in a good mood I might happily commit several felonies. You really never know.
When I reported all of this information to my mother in demonstration of the fact that perhaps I do embody the erratic behavior she associates with bipolar disorder, she insisted on getting off the phone. She made me promise I would never steal again, which I obliged to with fingers crossed, and then she hung up. It’s not that I want to steal again. It’s just that I can’t make promises I know I can’t keep. For my mother, bipolar disorder is not unlike a prison sentence or a death sentence. Jill disappeared, and we never saw her again. We didn’t hear from her. We didn’t hear about her. She just vanished. Sometimes I wish I could do the same. I wish I could just disappear from everyone’s life over and over again, constantly remaking myself until I finally crash and burn. But these days, with social media and all the rest, it just isn’t that easy. We are bound to who we are, until we aren’t. I hope my family can salvage some sense of understanding until that day comes. I know it’s a lot to ask. I hardly understand myself.

REVIEW: Kotobukiya Poison Ivy ArtFX+ Statue

Until Data Falls…
What follows is a data friendly written review of this particular piece.
For everyone else who isn’t a cheapskate, or isn’t otherwise vexed by the ridiculous process of data bundles, please have a look at the comprehensive video review above.
[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]
INTRODUCTION:
I’m not going to lie, I love strong female characters- slightly psychotic ones too. I suppose that says more than enough about my dating life but this isn’t that kind of website.
Kotobukiya recently released a Poison Ivy figure in the ArtFX+ line. This is supposedly and accompanying piece to the previously released Harley Quinn figure. Having looked at that piece previously I had high expectations for this figure.
Quick shout out to friends of the site Reza and “the Nas” for letting me goof off with the store display for purposes of my reviews.
As is always the case with a statue, we will consider the two cardinal A’s – Aesthetics and Aish-Factor.
AESTHETICS:[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”28398″ img_size=”large”][vc_column_text]When we talk about “Aesthetics” what we are referring to is the overall visual appeal of the piece. In other words, “what does it look like- and how is going impact on your overall display?”
This category includes a discussion on accessories and articulation where applicable.
So lets get cracking…
So since my first exposure to her in the 1992 animated series, I have always imagined Poison Ivy to be a strong, fiercely independent though sultry, seductive temptress- beautiful to the eye and dangerous to the touch. Well Kotobukiya successfully gets that down! As you can see, the statue has Poison Ivey sculpted in this half leant over come-hither-esque pose which nails that subtle balance.
The sculpting is deft and her dimensions are in proportion- in other words they are able to tip toe the line of communicating the character’s innate sexiness but manages to steer clear of overly sexualising her.
As a result of this, the statue is equally welcome in a collection for a young lady or a slightly rotten middle aged man.
The costume details are well sculpted with the various embellishments in her uniform well rendered. There is a slight different in the texture of the material as well which adds a degree of realism to the sculpt.
As regards the paint work – for the most part the overall execution is quite good as is expected from Kotobukiya. However, with that said, there were a few issues I identified. I felt that the painting on some of the shaded areas was a little flat and not as well defined as I have seen in other releases.
I want to emphasise though that these might be quality control issues on this particular unit because the paint work on the face sculpt is simply phenomenal. I won’t lie they must have a couple makeup artists working at kotobukiya because they have the contouring/ nude make up effect on point!
As regards accessories, the figure includes a non-magnetic translucent display base and a vine/ foliage accessory. The base is essentially a slab of PVC and adds some nice weight to the figure.
I was thrilled with the vine/ foliage accessory! This piece is pretty much a miniature artificial flower accessory and is very well scaled for the figure. It has a wire in it that can be posed in a variety of shapes. I thought that the wire might be a bit thin and is likely to get damaged in time, but closer inspection revealed that it is quite pliable.
We went with a sort of spiral look and as you can see the effect is pretty mesmerising and rounds of the figure nicely. I often lament that Kotobukiya doesn’t give us too many (or rather enough) accessories, but in this instance I am quite happy with what they pulled off here.
With that being covered, lets turn our attention to the next issue.
AISH- FACTOR!!!
[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”28387″ img_size=”large”][vc_column_text]The so called “Aish- Factor” is a generic standard I coined where I assess the overall execution of the figure against the background of it’s build, price, availability and any other relevant factor. In essence we assess the degree to which a figure make’s one go “Aish!” with excitement, or “Eish…” with disappointment.
Now that we aare on the same page, lets round it up.
For reasons unknown, Poison Ivy figures seem to be in short supply. On the rare occasion that you do run across them, they are usually terribly priced as well.
In this case what you have a fairly budget friendly piece. I want to emphasise, that this isn’t a cheaply priced piece, it is however reasonably priced for what it is.
Boasting all of the best features of Kotobukiya as evidenced by the sterling sculpt and generally well executed paint work you would be hard pressed to find another statue at this price point that does such a great job representing the character.
For full details be sure to watch the video review embedded in this write up.
For now though, I am pretty satisfied with this figure and it elicits a resounding Aish!!!

admittedly a massive skincare nut I believe it is one of the key kind of elements to beauty I'm going to share with you everything that I've learned about anti-aging skincare I got into anti-aging skincare and I really have no shame about this whatsoever when I was about 18 years old there was a girl in my class at uni gorgeous girl I think she was a part-time model gorgeous tall Amazonian creature she was advising us girls to use anti-aging skincare because her mom had advised her that prevention is key it's really all about having the best skin that you can achieve and to slow down the effects of aging so anywho I took her advice and invested in my first set of anti-aging stuff and that's where this the lifelong affair with skincare kind of started and for me is really an enjoyable process I like to feel the luxury of skincare I like to look after my skin I like the sensory element of it I like the you know the sense and just everything that has anything to do with skin care I enjoy it and that doesn't mean that I want perfect skin my skin goes through ups and downs just like anyone else's but it just makes the whole process a lot more fun so let's get started number one is to look after your eye area or to pay special attention to it our eyes need special love and care sunglasses my friend sunglasses are the key to avoiding pigmentation around your eyes or avoiding having that pigmentation get dark it may be that the darkness is worsened over time because of exposure to sunlight sunglasses will not only prevent that eye area from being exposed to the direct sunlight which will cause it to darken but also of course it prevents you from squinting like I said prevention is key so sunglasses check next thing alright an eye cream a good eye cream can make all the difference to your eye oh now I have dabbled with so so many eye creams in the past on the very low end to the very very high end I mean we're talking so really expensive eye creams and at the moment hands down you guys take my word for it then Liz L super skin eye cream is amazing it is one of those creams that is so surpassed my expectations I read at the front which says super skin eye cream it contains naturally active ingredients which is really the running theme of all the Liz L products Peres crest pomegranate fruit and alfalfa extracts a part of this eye cream whatever they have in there it is magical stuff you guys this literally like physically you can see it visibly lifting brightening giving more of a soft youthful appearance to the eyes it literally does seem to blur out fine lines and I have fine lines around my eyes are really thin ones that kind of creep through your concealer which by the way let's talk about that as well I'm gonna talk dude this is why I'm so excited about this below this cream is supposed to be used as part of your day-to-day skincare routine so you apply it at least once in the morning and then of course you can apply it later at night as well or you know any time during the day I love wearing this cream under my concealer if I'm wearing makeup that day this cream is perfection under concealer it has a whisk arkad gel like consistency when it first comes out it's not super watery it's not super thick it's just like this gorgeous lightweight gel texture it actually acts like a primate helps my concealer not to crease it makes my concealer last longer it hydrates the eye area I love it with the AR day concealer in particular because it's a semi matte concealer so it's not one of those concealers that's going to be kind of slippery and oily and so you want to wear something that's well hydrating underneath this cream ticks all the boxes point number two is to protect thy skin that is what I'm advising you ladies protect your skin it is so important to avoid direct sun exposure for long periods of time I'm not saying sit in the house and not go out ever do go out but like sunbathing for long periods of time without protecting your skin is so bad for it I'm telling you girls even if you're like early 20s or you know late teen and you're out sunbathing you may not see the age spot but they are building in the deepest layers of your skin and they will surface at some point in your late twenties thirties forties fifties they will I mean you'll see the effect of it as well and that's not to like avoid and it's like an Asian thing isn't it like did your mom's ever say Stan because that my mom never did but I know my friends used to tell me that their mom's told them to stay up the Sun in case they'll get tan it's not about avoiding a tan it's about protecting your skin see what I mean now you can go out in the Sun if you are wearing SPF so wear your SP another point that I want to touch upon oh I'm going to beg you guys now to stop using makeup wipes on your face as a regular makeup removal method I know there will be so many of you watching right now who are kind of like hiding and then being like I'm gonna can you see me through the computer screen can you see me or what I do I know a lot of girls use makeup wipe and just use that as a method of makeup of even saying it out loud is like hurting me makeup wipes are great to sanitize the hands if you're putting makeup on in the backs of the hands they're great if you're going to kind of remove bits of like small areas of makeup on your face they're even fine if you're in a rush and you want to quickly remove your makeup you're going to remove it and then you know say apply a different look on your face if you're out on a photo shoot and whatnot but and okay I'm even going to give it to you on one of those lazy days or you can't be bothered to say go to the sink and do a proper cleansing routine and you want to do this once in a blue moon but as a day to day routine you should not be using makeup wipes on your face they are going to wreck your skin to hurt me right your skin it's going to dry out your skin you know become like a prune or your eyes will become crepey one of the areas where you can really tell where people have been using makeup wipes as a regular method of makeup removal is around the eye area you'll be able to see kind of fine lines crepeiness the concealer just starts to ball up it looks really dry even if you're not wearing makeup it's just going to wreak have it upon your skin you're one of these serial makeup wipe removers stop it stop my third tip is to treat your salad is very relaxing to indulge in facial massage I actually have these two twin board revitalizing facial massages which have actually seen a lot of really good use but I store them in boxes so these have been opened and used many times after I've done using them I give them a wipe and then pop them back into this foam inside but an oil of your choice on your face use the massages and just kind of roll over your face and we're going to ruin my makeup I don't I feel so good oh my goodness they're really cool right now because the temperature in this rooms I like to keep this room cause I do this I do those facial muscles that we work so hard during the day they get a really nice massage it's really relaxing it's great for your skin texture it really does tighten up the skin facial massage is amazing another product that I want to recommend to you is the Liz L eye bright when I want to relax with something on my eyes you know how you can take cucumbers and cucumbers actually worked really well to take a thin slice of cucumber pop it on your eyes lie down relax or lie down close your eyes then pop the cucumber on your eyes or you could also do it with spoons you take two cold tea spoons have been placed in the fridge for a couple of hours take them out pop them on your eyes as well or if you really want to go all out you use the eye bright I store this in my fridge so it's kept out of cool temperature and then what you do is pour out a generous amount into a cotton pad then I peel the cotton pad in half so you end up having to because I'm stingy no I'm kidding just so that you've got maximum product basically and and you're getting that contact between the product and your eye as opposed to lots of cotton pad in between so you split it in half these are going to be wet pop those on your eyelids oh it feels so good it really cools the eye area it's so soothing right number four is to exfoliate exfoliation is a very very important to my friend exfoliation gets rid of all the dead skin cell reduce the appearance of the fine lines which tend to build when you've got lots of dead skin cell the dead skin cells also make your skin look dull over time so exfoliation is key now you can make I'm looking down to some like trying to see if I bought any other to show you but I use lots of different kinds of exfoliant or DIY one you can buy them other shops try not to go for any exfoliators that are very harsh or rough on the skin or where the particles inside are really big and you know uneven and and too kind of grainy and rough against your skin you may feel like your skin's getting a nice old scrub but you're actually damaging the skin cells I love to use the Clarisonic for this reason because it is going to give your skin a nice clean nice deep clean in a gentle way so I've had this baby for like gosh how many years I don't know been married to this thing for a long time so most of you know what the Clarisonic is it's a machine that exfoliates the skin it does some really great cleansing I use this but almost every other day I use it now and then I was using it everyday when I first got it but now because I've had it for a few years and I like to keep my skin in good condition I don't feel that I have to use it every single day so the way that it works is with this button you switch on the head starts to spin and vibrate and what you do is with your cleanser on your face you just run this over your face very gently you don't have to you know press hard or scrub you just run it all over the face I even go onto the neck you can take out onto the decollete as well this is great it's going to honestly leave your skin feeling so fresh and so bright and so smooth you will definitely see I cannot definitely can't guarantee it did come soon met for most of you it is going to work wonders I loud is like hurting me makeup wipes are great to sanitize the hands if you're putting makeup on in the backs of the hands they're great if you're going to kind of remove bits of like small areas of makeup on your face they're even fine if you're in a rush and you want to quickly remove your makeup you're going to remove it and then you know say apply a different look on your face if you're out on a photo shoot and whatnot but and okay I'm even going to give it to you on one of those lazy days or you can't be bothered to say go to the sink and do a proper cleansing routine and you want to do this once in a blue moon but as a day to day routine you should not be using makeup wipes on your face they are going to wreck your skin to hurt me right your skin it's going to dry out your skin you know become like a prune or your eyes will become crepey one of the areas where you can really tell where people have been using makeup wipes as a regular method of makeup removal is around the eye area you'll be able to see kind of fine lines crepeiness the concealer just starts to ball up it looks really dry even if you're not wearing makeup it's just going to wreak have it upon your skin you're one of these serial makeup wipe removers stop it stop my third tip is to treat your salad is very relaxing to indulge in facial massage I actually have these two twin board revitalizing facial massages which have actually seen a lot of really good use but I store them in boxes so these have been opened and used many times after I've done using them I give them a wipe and then pop them back into this foam inside but an oil of your choice on your face use the massages and just kind of roll over your face and we're going to ruin my makeup I don't I feel so good oh my goodness they're really cool right now because the temperature in this rooms I like to keep this room cause I do this I do those facial muscles that we work so hard during the day they get a really nice massage it's really relaxing it's great for your skin texture it really does tighten up the skin facial massage is amazing another product that I want to recommend to you is the Liz L eye bright when I want to relax with something on my eyes you know how you can take cucumbers and cucumbers actually worked really well to take a thin slice of cucumber pop it on your eyes lie down relax or lie down close your eyes then pop the cucumber on your eyes or you could also do it with spoons you take two cold tea spoons have been placed in the fridge for a couple of hours take them out pop them on your eyes as well or if you really want to go all out you use the eye bright I store this in my fridge so it's kept out of cool temperature and then what you do is pour out a generous amount into a cotton pad then I peel the cotton pad in half so you end up having to because I'm stingy no I'm kidding just so that you've got maximum product basically and and you're getting that contact between the product and your eye as opposed to lots of cotton pad in between so you split it in half these are going to be wet pop those on your eyelids oh it feels so good it really cools the eye area it's so soothing right number four is to exfoliate exfoliation is a very very important to my friend exfoliation gets rid of all the dead skin cell reduce the appearance of the fine lines which tend to build when you've got lots of dead skin cell the dead skin cells also make your skin look dull over time so exfoliation is key now you can make I'm looking down to some like trying to see if I bought any other to show you but I use lots of different kinds of exfoliant or DIY one you can buy them other shops try not to go for any exfoliators that are very harsh or rough on the skin or where the particles inside are really big and you know uneven and and too kind of grainy and rough against your skin you may feel like your skin's getting a nice old scrub but you're actually damaging the skin cells I love to use the Clarisonic for this reason because it is going to give your skin a nice clean nice deep clean in a gentle way so I've had this baby for like gosh how many years I don't know been married to this thing for a long time so most of you know what the Clarisonic is it's a machine that exfoliates the skin it does some really great cleansing I use this but almost every other day I use it now and then I was using it everyday when I first got it but now because I've had it for a few years and I like to keep my skin in good condition I don't feel that I have to use it every single day so the way that it works is with this button you switch on the head starts to spin and vibrate and what you do is with your cleanser on your face you just run this over your face very gently you don't have to you know press hard or scrub you just run it all over the face I even go onto the neck you can take out onto the decollete as well this is great it's going to honestly leave your skin feeling so fresh and so bright and so smooth you will definitely see I cannot definitely can't guarantee it did come soon met for most of you it is going to work wonders I
