Will they follow "the rules" as they discover each other's secrets? Will they escape the game in time and saw right through? A love story with fluidity (and lots more fluids), SAW The Musical: The Unauthorized Parody of Saw is Little Shop of Horrors meets Avenue Q , pushing the boundary on sexuality and how to love. {!Parental Advisory: Explicit Content}

1. Kleiner Mann, was nun?
Tumblr media
3 Jahre. Was fĂŒr Menschen machen das? Solche wie ich. Niemand braucht BWLer.
Macht auch im Tagebuch was her.

4 for Genesis
21 for Sephiroth
4. Did you initially dislike/hate this character?
At first, I was kind of indifferent on Genesis. Yeah, he spouts Loveless crap way too much. Yeah, he was unnecessarily mean to Sephiroth at the Nibel reactor. I knew popular members of the community had made it cool to just shit all over him. And I knew that a sizeable portion apparently didn't like that he was involved in Nibelheim at all.
Coming from someone who hadn't been in the fandom long at the time, I really didn't see what all the fuss was about tbh. Genesis was just sorta there. Just your resident theater kid who shows up to bully the cast. Over time though? While I was working on AMT I had to really sit down to try to dissect him. He featured prominently in the fic after all. Going over his actions and motivations in CC, along with some truly great Genesis fan content has breathed a new intricacy into his character for me. So much so that I now genuinely love him.
#Ourtrashking
21. Are your feelings about this character platonic, romantic, or familial? All of these feelings at once maybe?
Idk I mean, Seph is just a character. He isn't real. What I feel for him I guess is what I'd feel for any character I really love. In this case I guess the closest I could say is platonic/familial? But not in a meta way. I would NEVER interact with someone like Seph irl. Too spooky and too much baggage, not to mention the constant threat of being murdered at any given moment. I certainly wouldn't ever ship MYSELF with him, no way lmao. He's pretty nightmare fuel when he wants to be. But I do feel a level of affection and protectiveness over him. And I want to keep studying him as best I can so I can peel back more of his layers.

hi lev i very much appreciate your thoughts on civil war and i like the movie for what its worth bc stevebucky .... they were something here. but i just wanted to know ur opinion of it in the context of a captain america movie? i always felt like it should have been an avengers movie bc like. steve barely gets any real character development and i will always be pissed off that tony gets a flashback with his parents but the only thing steve gets in his OWN movie is that his moms name was sarah. whether it was ever going to be a real concept or not i think the original idea for cap 3 of sam steve and natasha looking for bucky + taking down hydra bases could have been sooooo much better. anyways thank u for listening ur like one of my fav mutuals ^-^
HUGE agree!!!! The captain america: serpent society that was lied about by my worst enemy kevin feige you will ALWAYS be famous. I like civil war for what it is but it is 100% an avengers movie not a cap one which is probably it's greatest crime. Tony had three whole movies of his own AND he was the emotional center of the two avengers movies out at the time so him being the focus of Steve's third movie was so evil... Giving his relationship with his parents the same amt of screentime as stevebucky literally jokerfied me in 2016. cacw could've EASILY been an avengers movie given how neatly it leads into infinity war and there's so much they could've done with shield's collapse + the search for bucky + dismantling hydra to create an Actual third cap movie. Actually they should've just went fuck it and made a movie just of stevebucky growing up together and of missing scenes during the war and I would've sat my ass down in that theater...

After all, there's a reason that, even with all this time and with all of his training, he's half a heartbeat slower in the instances when someone somehow manages to specifically level an AMT AutoMag II at Batman's head, why he can't abide the taste of buttered movie popcorn or, in more recent years, kita firfir with yogurt and jalapeños. Circumstances can make the average into the horrifying, can add dark shadows to ordinary corners, can even turn simple foodstuffs consumed in theaters and hotels into the last meals of a condemned man. There are two days that remain sacred between them.

REVIEW: Even though they are related, there's a fine line between comedy, parody and satire. A satire can be painful, and not necessarily in a good way. SAW THE MUSICAL: THE UNAUTHORIZED PARODY OF SAW, after a run in Philadelphia comes to New York Off-Broadway this Halloween season.
The plot follows that of James Wan & Leigh Whannell 2004 film and mixes in a healthy bunch of musical numbers and satire. One of the key driving forces of the satire is the quickly blossoming sexual tension between Adam and Dr. Gordon. Other characters from the film, Jigsaw, Amanda and Zep receive some coverage and you can’t have “Saw” without the puppet, even making an appearance on a tricycle. The sexual innuendos felt crafted more for shock value than to be witty, as they fell flat on this viewer’s ears and seemed more sophomoric than cleaver.
In contrast, several of the songs were funny and witty, several feeling also sophomoric. As a fan of Monty Python, I’m also a fan of their song book. They could be off-color and vulgar, but had sharp witted lyrics and you understood the satire. Songs like “Saw Right Through,” "I'm Your Heroine," “I Want to Play a Game,” and “Pig in a Wig” come close, while songs like “Filthy Things” felt like they were pounding home the joke at the audience’s expense. The musical tracks were played over a nice sound system. However, there were a few times where the singers were off key. Actress Jill Owen had some of the best musical numbers in the show, but alas she was off key a few times.
Tumblr media
The trio of actors are put through their paces with numerous scene changes and custom swaps that leave them little time to catch their breath between songs. During the performance I attended the blackouts were rather long and one of them they rest the musical cue as the actors were not ready by the end of the first go round. The production felt a bit chaotic as the costumes and props constantly felt a tad out of place. At one point the puppet seemed to be falling apart.
I went into SAW THE MUSICAL: THE UNAUTHORIZED PARODY OF SAW with a clean slate, no expectations, hoping for a few good laughs. There were times I felt the play dragging, the energy levels dipping between musical numbers. I didn’t have a bad time, just not a good one. Granted it is an Off-Broadway production, staged in a black box theater, and there were some likable things about the production. The level of the performance I attended felt more like an off-off-off Broadway production and left me feeling less invigorated and feeling more like I needed a nap. It could have been an off night, as I saw the play a week prior to its opening night, but I still have a few issues with the writing that make for a lackluster recommendation.

there is unfortunately a link btwn revolution is an act of love/liberation theology and. mcyt rp. but i have drafted the several paragraphs i wrote abt that meanderign thru theater of the absurd & its offshoots (mikey and nicky clock fight i'm always thinking abt you) because i could make the argument and even a small amt of people might appreciate it but it's esoteric to such a degree it's functionally useless to spend time arguing. but i know it, in my heart

"Water For Elephants" at the Imperial Theatre will enjoy what I think will be a long run on Broadway. Like "Music Man" and "Back to The Future", this wonderful musical will appeal to people of all ages and all walks of life. The music and lyrics by Pigpen Theatre Co. are not overly memorable, the choreography by Jesse Robb is simple and plain, however, the acting, the book by Rick Elice the direction by Jessica Stone and the circus design and acrobatics by Shana Carroll (Cirque du Soleil's Crystal) are outstanding.
Based on the book by Sara Gruen, "Water" takes us to the depression; the circus, the people and animals in the Benzini Brothers Circus are the story-line. We get to see two Jankowski's, the younger Jacob (Grant Gustin) and Mr. Jankowski (Gregg Edelman). He is a veterinarian from Cornell who never finished his studies. He turns out to be a huge help to the penny pinching owner, August (Paul Alexander Nolan) who bought the circus from Benzini back in 1929. The good Doctor would fall smitten with August's wife, Marlena (Isabelle McCalla). August has a foul temper, he is often ruthless with his employees and worse with the treatment of his animals As the plot goes on, both tension and tempers flair, people are pushed to the brink (both literally and figuratively).
What makes "Water For Elephants" a standout is the star cast, the supporting cast and its ensemble. The sound and the projections too are quite remarkable; the costumes (David Israel Reynoso), the scenic design (Takeshi Kata) and the lighting (Bradley King) all complement what is a great evening of theater.
When this musical opens up full throttle is when the audience becomes most enchanted... songs that do its magic are: "Anywhere/ Another Train", "I Choose the Ride", "I Shouldn't Be Surprised", "You've Got Nothing" and "Go Home". It is these songs that have the actors giving its audience full singing and dancing; the lights and sounds are whirlwind. The audience laps up the circus atmosphere, it loves the protagonist/antagonist part of the show. In Jessica Stone's direction, the animals come to life onstage and they become a big part of the story. In both a simple way and a very visual way, "Water For Elephants" should not be missed!
.........................................................................................................................
I recently went to a performance at AMT called "Gallery". Although it was a run through for a later staged performance in New Hampshire, some of the songs and some of the singers were very talented. It will be very interesting to see how it is staged and directed. The premise of the musical is that famous artists have their work projected on the back of the theater while the different actors sing a song about the work that is presented in front of us. Both catchy and pithy, this new musical may take hold.
........................................................................................................................
As this very full Spring season is upon us we welcome up "Tommy", "Suffs", "Hells Kitchen" "The Wiz" and "The Great Gatsby". The two shows that most are waiting for is both "Tommy" and "Cabaret". Early word on "Tommy" is that is the best thing right now on Broadway and it is still in previews! "Cabaret" has been running raves with its great lead actor since it played on London's West End.
Other shows that should delight are "The Mother Play", which has a first rate cast," Mary Jane" and "Uncle Vayna" at Lincoln Center with Steve Carrell in the lead. "Stereophonic" will be coming later in the season along with "Heart of Rock and Roll". Stay tuned! Reviews and more reviews to come!
