I’ve concluded that I definitely have a theme going on with my recent favorite male characters.
Amos Burton = Murdersnuggles
Cornelius Hickey = All Murder, No Snuggles
Sebastien Le Livre/Booker = Needs Snuggles
Two of them qualify as rat men but for kinda different reasons. Two are on a sociopathic behavioral spectrum. Two start with beards, and the third grows one.
We all gotta have our vices.

I’m finally watching The Expanse season 5 and here are my thoughts:
Tumblr media
Season 5, Episode 1.
Has Holden EVER started off a season without being half naked?
Naomi found filip, her reaction was really sad
Amos starting off the season being the definition of “Murder Snuggles”. LIKE
I hated this Monica woman in the previous seasons, she’s back now too. Ew go away
Monica is one sneaky bitch. She be recording Holden while saying he’s off the record. Seriously, go away.
Naomi freaking out over her son is sad. But gurlll you better tell Holden this ain’t good.
Alex starting off the season being Alex.
Alex and Bobbie still friends. That’s nice
Bobbie is dealing weapons now? Huh?
Ohhh Bobbie is working for “the old lady” 😂
Protomolecule shananagans is back I see 🤦🏻‍♀️
Fred seriously can’t be THIS dumb 🤦🏻‍♀️
But his advice does sound good, ngl.
Alex is back on Mars? Yikessss
Why is Alex’s wife such a meanie. Poor guy just wants to see his son
Aw Alex is FaceTiming his kid. Cute
Bobbie and Alex yesss
Bobbie needs to CHILL 😂
Oh lovely Naomi did something without telling Holden AGAIN 🤦🏻‍♀️😩
I need more Amos, I miss my man. He’s barely been on WHERE IS MY MURDER SNUGGLES
poor Naomi. Not telling Holden AGAIN is annoying, but I get it.
Yay Amos
“First of all I didn’t start it, second of all they were all alive when I walked out” AMOS PLEASE 😂😂😂😂
Ok but he’s so pretty 😍 🤩
Oooo Avasarala HELLO 👋🏼 I missed my Iranian Queen 👑 🇮🇷
“Can I go now?” Amos staawppp 😂😂😂
Amos “never gives a f*ck” Burton, ladies and gentlemen!
Why is everyone so MEAN to each other 😂😂😂
“You can be both” AMOS 😂😂😂
Am I the only one who finds the dialogue to be too on the nose this episode? Idk, its odd
So Holden is left completely ALONE?!
Holden and the Roci alone. This is SAD
Alex has a nice fit.
So Mars is going to shit I see
Amos on Earth! I repeat Amos on Earth! This is not a drill!
Ok but what happened to the thing that was launched at earth? ANYONE?
Oh lmao it’s on track for impact.
Wait Episode 2 is out TOO?!
I thought it was getting released weakly?
Alright guys I’ll do a review of episode 2 separately 😂

Finale - 11:13 P.M.
The Juggernaut, now stabilized and happy, followed Mendel and Mari into the study, where they would be resting for the night. Clive helped the two move out the big table and few chairs into the main room to allow for the Juggernaut to rest comfortably surrounded in bookshelves. The fusion watched carefully, every now and then wandering off but being told to go back and sit tight where they were by the two Coven members. Finally, once the space was clear, Mendel brought over some pillows and two blankets and set them both down in a little bed area.
“Alright, Jugg. I know you’re excited and ready for anything right now, but we need to sleep tonight, okay? If you could do me a favor and try to get some rest that would be nice,” spoke Mendel, looking up at the Juggernaut. “Tomorrow we must get everyone settled and keep you in the throne room, for your safety. You’ll be able to roam freely in...a bit. You understand why, right?” Both of the Juggernaut’s heads nodded.
“I dunno how long it’s gonna be,” added Mari, “but I’ll make an announcement tomorrow when everyone’s awake and going back to their own homes.”
“Okay. Thank you.” Mendel glanced back to the Juggernaut. “Well, lie down, then. Get comfortable.” The Juggernaut hesitated before crawling down into the blankets, shifting and tossing around until it was comfortable, curled up on the carpeted floor.
“We’ve gotta get them a bed eventually. They can live over here in the Coven base,” said Mari.
“Well...if we keep the base, that is,” Mendel sighed.
“...Mendel, once you’re done here, we need to talk about that. It’s good news.” Mari smiled and turned to leave. “I’ll let you tuck your sons in goodnight. Meet me in the main room when you’re done.” Mendel stared after her, a bit confused, but shook it off quickly. He crouched down to the Juggernaut.
“I guess I am doing this now,” he chuckled, taking the end of a blanket and tucking it over the Juggernaut. The eyes on its chest area shut, but the ones over its face remained open, looking up at Mendel curiously. “Goodnight, Jugg. May you rest well.” He pat both of the Juggernaut’s heads. Some of their eyes shut as they received the pats, some merely looked off to the side. After a couple seconds Mendel leaned over and left a goodnight kiss on both of their foreheads, patting them once more before standing again. They smiled toothily, eyes all shutting as they shifted to sleep on their side.
Mendel looked back to Clive, who was watching from the doorway. He sighed and smiled.
“And I suppose you are waiting for?”
“Well...I would stay here and be tucked in and all…” Clive held his hands behind his back, kicking his leg forwards. “...Okay, I really would. But Atari told me they’re coming for us tonight. So I guess that means I can’t really...stay here…”
“Who says you cannot just rest here until they arrive? I...must admit that I do not know much of how it all works, but you and everyone else here can sleep until their time to go home comes.” Mendel glanced back to the Juggernaut, making sure everything’s alright, before heading over to Clive. “Here, we should go down to the lab really quick. Make sure everything is alright, get you asleep.” As they stepped out of the study, Mendel called out to Mari, “Stay with the Juggernaut for a bit while I take Clive downstairs, please!” Mari nodded and flew over.
Downstairs in the lab, everyone was fast asleep in the dark. Mendel made sure not to step on someone as he silently made his way down with Clive.
“Alright, get settled,” he whispered, picking up some unused blankets and a pillow for him on the way. Once Clive was sat down, Mendel set down the pillow behind him and draped the blanket over him. “Get down and go to sleep, I assume Atari will be here for you all soon.” Clive curled up and got snuggled up in the little space, placing his glasses in his jacket pocket and smiling as he finally got comfortable. He opened and eye and looked up to Mendel.
“Well?” he said quietly. Mendel stifled a laugh.
“Are you serious?” He asked, to which Clive nodded firmly.
“I’ve never been more serious in my life, Mendel.” Mendel shook his head gently as he pulled the blanket over Clive, too, giving him a little pat on the head.
“Now go to bed, and I am not getting you a glass of milk or anything like that.”
“That’s okay.” Clive smiled happily and was cozy under the blanket. “Night night, Mendel. Thank you.” Mendel nodded and gave him a brief thumbs up before making his way back upstairs.
“Mendel,” whisper-yelled Mari from the doorway of the study. Mendel perked up. The potion master motioned to him to come over, moving over to the main room. “I’ve got you good news.”
“Tell me.”
“Ophelia says we can stay here, in this town, in this lab, if we need to. We’re going to outsource.”
Mendel’s eyes lit up. “Really? I...I get to keep my lab?” “Yes!’ Mari grinned. “She’s going out tomorrow to look for the rest of the Coven, and once she finds them they’re going out to find some new place to set up camp. They’re gonna stay there and gather members there, and we stay here and stay on the down-low. Once the coast is clear here, everyone from there is coming over here, and we can get back into the usual swing of things.”
“That...That is great, Mari! That is really great news!” Mendel smiled wide, fidgeting with his hands happily. “So I can stay here and care for the Juggernaut, and clean up the town a bit, and you...are you staying as well?”
“You bet, pal.”
“Oh, thank goodness.” Mendel laughed. “Did you talk her into this?”
“Well, I guess you could say I am a rather...persuasive person.” Mari looked to the side and held up an okay sign.
“I cannot express how much I owe you for this. Thank you, Mari.”
“Hey, it’s no biggie. Just wait until I convince her into letting you keep a snake.”
“...Will you really do that for me?”
“Hell yeah I will.”
Mendel hugged Mari, thanking her kindly, Mari giggling and repeating, “it’s no problem, it’s no problem.” The night dragged on, and soon the two fell asleep in the study, watching over the Juggernaut but soon becoming drowsy listening to their steady breathing. The town quieted down and had a peaceful, silent night, the first one they have had in ages.
Further up north, a ghost traveled alone, quickly darting his way through the forest and back to the Coven’s base, having dropped off everyone safe and soundly at the train station. He was alone, but in his mind he was comforted knowing Gene would be back at the base, sleeping soundly, waiting for his arrival. He continued on, jacket billowing behind him as he flew.
Seated in the train heading to its different stops around Massachusetts were the survivors who managed to escape Salem’s magical border, happy and resting. Rascal sat next to his backpack with Milky on his lap, petting her subconsciously as he talked with Emily, the Survivor from Danvers. They exchanged small talks that soon delved into talking about their towns, their favorite animals, their hobbies, and soon enough, manga they’ve read throughout their lives. On the other end of the train car, Mick and Amos were seated and sleeping with their heads leaned onto the seat, Sarah curled up and sprawled over the two. They had become friends during their time inside the Juggernaut, and deep inside, the Trapper was excited to get out of the town and give his daughter a safer life, a home free from murder, and the Sheriff was eager to go back home to his wife and police crew, who had thought him dead for the past year or so. Just hearing the happiness in his wife’s voice as she heard him speak once more had filled him with hope.
The train’s lights were dimmed and the air was alive with the gentle mumble of the multiple other people riding with them. For one more time, they felt as if they weren’t alone, they felt as if they were safe and going home at last.
Soon enough, a small, glowing blue portal opened up in the downstairs lab. An entity who bore no eyes, instead a little sheet of paper over where they should be, poked their head out of it. They arrived silently and without noise, and stepped out cautiously. They looked down and saw Clive fast asleep, tucked in carefully. They smiled and tapped him awake gently.
“Hey Clive,” they whispered, “Gather up your friends and we can go home, okay?” Clive blinked his eyes open drowsily, but snapped back to reality as soon as he saw them looming over him. He put his glasses on and smiled.
“Atari?!”
“Fear not, for I am here to take you home,” said Atari.
“You don’t have to say that,” Clive laughed, covering his mouth slightly with a hand to muffle the noise.
The little killer slowly woke up Farrow and Skuggy, tugging them up and awake and pulling them over carefully by their arms. The two stumbled over, still tired, but longing to go back home after all the time they had spent out in this dimension.
“You three ready?” Whispered Atari, holding the portal open with their arm casually, one leg in the current dimension and the other in who knows which.
“Ready!’ Clive replied happily.
“Uh huh,” Skuggy slurred.
“What?” Farrow asked, blinking multiple times.
“That’s a yes, I suppose.” Atari pulled the three into the portal and shut it up tight behind them as they stepped in. And so, just as suddenly as they had arrived, they were gone without a trace, wandering off into the multiverse in search of their home.
The Juggernaut rest peacefully once more. The four souls who made up the fusion rest as well-- The Arsonist, the Serial Killer, the Plaguebearer and the Werewolf-- excited to live their new life, excited to finally live happily.
For once, the town of Salem found peace in the night, and everyone in it rest easy, knowing that no harm would come onto them any longer.
...Well, for now, that is.

Best of BBC First 2018 with a cheeky look at 2019
By Alexandra Wilbraham
First published in Dutch translation: https://www.bbcbenelux.com/blog/?article=bbc-first-benelux-best-of-18-19
Joy to the world and welcome to our round-up of BBC First’s best of 2018. Prepare to get festive as we celebrate a fantastic year of BBC series. Stick around to the end to find out what amazing new content you can look forward to in 2019.
So, pull on your Christmas jumper, the one you keep stashed away at the back of your wardrobe and pop on a Santa hat. Make yourself hot cocoa, go the whole hog and decorate your beverage with whipped cream, marshmallows and chocolate shavings. Light some cinnamon candles and snuggle up on the sofa as we dive into the pile of presents this year had to give.
In the first month of 2018, the BBC gave to me! Well, it kind of works. January started with fireworks and a new series of Silent Witness. First broadcast in 1996, the series has seen many cast changes over the years. Series 21, however, saw the return of the amazing Emilia Fox as forensic pathologist Dr Nikki Alexander. She and her dedicated team (Liz Carr, Richard Lintern, David Caves) work closely with the London police to solve a slew of mystifying murders. Sometimes the best witness is a dead one.
Travelling back in time, if I can remember where I parked the T.A.R.D.I.S., to London in the early 1960s, we were again joined by the nuns and nurses of Nonnatus House convent. As they provide care to the expectant mothers of London’s East End, they find themselves tested both personally and professionally. Series 7 of Call the Midwife puts a bit of a downer on the festivities as we said goodbye to the beautiful Barbara (Charlotte Ritchie) whose grave, decorated with a red rose and toy carousel, we lingered on in the poignant final moments. However, with sadness comes joy and we saw both new and familiar faces appear at the convent. Leonie Elliot (Black Mirror) joined the cast as Caribbean midwife Lucille Anderson and a return of Nurse Trixie (Helen George) was heavily hinted at.
Guess what, we’re still in January! But we’re off on our first holiday of the year as we join Detective Jack Mooney (Ardal O'Hanlon) on the sun-soaked island of Saint-Marie. Peaceful isn’t it? Sadly not. Because, even in the beautiful Caribbean, crime will always spoil your day. Series 7 of Death in Paradise has Jack rise to the challenge in a bid to impress the commissioner and make his mark on the island. Luckily, he has his team to support him as he has some almost impossible mysteries to uncover.
Wake up! We’re back from our island vacation and straight into February. Before heading back to city life, we get to spend some time in the English countryside, rolling hills dotted with small villages, rural parish churches and large country houses. There is also a fair bit of murder.
Don’t worry though, as series 6 of Father Brown sees Mark Williams (Harry Potter) return as the charming local priest and amateur detective. Although he is at risk from old foe Katherine Corven, who looks for revenge on Father Brown when she is suddenly released from prison. I think we should move on to March and hopefully, we’ll find ourselves in a safer environment.
To sleep, perchance to dream as March arrives with a series completely new to the BBC – Shakespeare and Hathaway: Private Investigators. No, not William and Anne. Although this comedy-drama mystery is filmed in Shakespeare’s birthplace, Stratford-upon-Avon. Two well-known TV faces, Jo Joyner and Mark Benton, star as chatty ex-hairdresser Luella ‘Lu’ Shakespeare and out-of-shape and short-of-money private inspector Frank Hathaway. The highly unlikely and hugely entertaining detecting duo quickly discover that all is not as peaceful as it seems in their picture-perfect theatre town.
Brace yourself. Our next March series drops us straight to the front line of series 3 of Our Girl. We do get to travel internationally, but this is no holiday. Series 3 takes female army medic Georgie (Michelle Keegan) and the tightknit unit of soldiers in 2 Section from a humanitarian mission in Nepal, across Afghanistan and to a Nigerian refugee camp. With the arrival of old flame Elvis (Luke Pasqualino) and new recruit Maisie (Shalom Brune-Franklin) tugging at her sleeve, Georgie must face the highs and lows of army life while also fighting her own personal battles.   As the soldiers face kidnapping and assassination attempts, they have to confront the ultimate battle: head versus heart.
May the merriness be with you. Or rather the conflict, since this family is already in the divorce court before the relationships start crumbling. New family drama The Split follows Hannah Defoe (Nicola Walker), a member of a family who all work as divorce lawyers in the same firm. Following a bitter argument, Hannah takes a new job at a rival firm where she reconnects with the only other man she ever imagined sharing her life with, and her estranged father returns after 30 years. It sounds exhausting but makes for a smashing series.
Ring the bells everyone! The month of June means we are halfway through our TV year. A perfect time for the first Agatha Christie story to be adapted for the BBC by screenwriter Sarah Phelps, who also penned the script for J.K. Rowlings’s A Casual Vacancy. A wealthy philanthropist is murdered and her son Jack dies in prison, accused of her murder. A year later, a mysterious stranger arrives to prove Jack’s innocence. If his story is true, the murderer is still in the family. In one of Christie’s most satisfying stories, the cast presents a host of well-known faces, including Bill Nighy and Anna Chancellor. Murder, plot twists and a fantastic cast. Can it get any better?
It most definitely can! September brings with it the second instalment of Christie magic. Now, how well do you know the person next to you? It’s the question that made Agatha Christie the best-selling novelist of all time. And Then There Were None sports an all-star cast, including Charles Dance (Game of Thrones) and Aidan Turner (Poldark). Ten strangers, each accused of a terrible crime, are lured to an island mansion and quickly find themselves at the mercy of their unknown host. And Then There Were None has seen many adaptations, but this is the first screen version to include Agatha Christie’s original, less cheery, ending.
It’s time for the home stretch everyone! With October we welcome a third Agatha Christie series. In Sarah Phelps’s second Christie adaptation for the BBC, the cast is headed by Toby Jones and Kim Cattrall. Witness for the Prosecution is the perfect Film Noir for a 1920s London. It’s a thrilling two-part drama about the murder of the rich and glamorous Emily French. All evidence points towards her young lover Leonard, but how will the jury decide?
The cold days and Idris Elba go together like bread and butter, or an attractively greying beard and a warm woollen coat. In Series 4, Luther introduces himself very non-dramatically: ‘There are some things you might have heard about me that could be true.’ If that is how Luther introduces himself to his colleagues, you should take care not to become his enemy. After a leave of absence living a reclusive life on the English coast, Luther is back in London on the trail of a cannibalistic killer, while also attempting to uncover the truth behind Alice's apparent death. With trouble following him wherever he goes, the case is fast becoming a test that will push Luther closer to the edge than he’s ever been before.
There we are. 2018 is all wrapped up, but there are more presents under the tree. 2019 is just around the corner and there is so much BBC content to look forward to. Why don’t you have a peek?
In 2019, fans can look forward to Emilia Fox’s 14th outing as Dr Nikki Alexander. Cast members David Caves, Liz Carr and Richard Lintern are also confirmed to return. Although not much is known about the 22nd series, actor Richard Lintern has said the new series will focus on bringing in London more as a character than has been done before.
New year, new Call the Midwife. Harry Potter star Miriam Margolyes, who will always be Professor Sprout to me, joins the cast for the Christmas special and the first episode of series 8. Fenella Woolgar (Victoria & Abdul) and Ella Bruccoleri (Genius: Picasso) move to Poplar as newcomers Hilda and Frances and (yeah!) Helen George returns as Nurse Trixie Franklin.
In series 8 of Death in Paradise, Shyko Amos joins the cast as officer Ruby Patterson. She has, what shall we say, a unique take on crime fighting. From a local radio DJ murdered while live on air to a zookeeper killed by a poisonous dart, Jack and his team definitely have their work cut out.
Welcome back to the beautiful English countryside. Let’s just take some deep breaths of fresh air and ignore Father Brown trapped outside on what is a dark and stormy night, with a murderer on the loose. Don’t bother yourself with the kidnap of Lady Felicia and Mrs McCarthy. I’m sure everything will be fine.
A new adaptation of Victor Hugo's 19th-century classic Les Misérables is packed full of big-name actors and this time none of them has to sing. A brave choice, considering the success of the long-running musical and Oscar-winning Hollywood film. Dominic West will lead the cast as Jean Valjean, with David Oyelowo as the obsessed and villainous policeman Javert. Olivia Colman takes on the role of the abusive Madame Thénardier, while Lily Collins will play Fantine. Adapted by Andrew Davies (War and Peace, House of Cards), the six-part drama will delve deeply into the story of love, revolution and survival, vividly bringing to life the vibrant and engaging characters.
When you manage to book Richard Geer (Chicago, Pretty Woman) in his first major television role for 30 years, you’d better have a story to match. MotherFatherSon is an eight-part original drama created and written by Tom Rob Smith (The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story). The story revolves around the toxic relationships of a mother, a father and, err, I forget the last one. Anyway, Gere plays Max, the owner of one of the world’s most influential media empires. When his son Caden’s (Billy Howle) self-destructive lifestyle spirals out of control, he and his estranged wife Kathryn (Helen McCrory) have very different ideas about how best to support him.
And finally, he might not be sporting Hercule Poirot’s trademark moustache, but John Malkovich as the iconic detective is already heading the list of 2019 must-watch television. Malkovich is joined by a collage of well-known faces, including Ron Weasley, I mean Rupert Grint, as Inspector Crome. 2019 sees the adaptation of the ABC Murders by the incomparable Sarah Phelps.
Poirot faces a serial killer known only under the alias ABC. Using the British railway network, the killer strikes methodically, leaving behind nothing but a copy of the ABC railway guide. Poirot must find a way to match his nemesis and, in the process, everything about him will be called into question: his authority, his integrity, his past, his identity.
And finally, that’s 2018 dusted off and stored back in the attic. I hope you enjoyed our little excursion through the best of BBC First. With 2019 almost upon us there is so much more amazing BBC content to come. What were your favourite series and moments of 2018? Are you looking forward to a fabulous 2019 on BBC First? I definitely am.
From me and all of us at the BBC a very merry festive season and a happy new year!

What’s your perfect day?
Tumblr media
Imagine: Reid comforting you at the hospital while you recover.
Not my GIF.
Warning: Mentions of violence.
This case was more straight forward than most, but still with a twist. The son of a serial killer copying his fathers murders. Amos Crachet began hunting down all of the survivors children. He kept them for a few days, before putting them out of their misery. His last attempted victim had spirit. A little more than he bargained for. It bought them valuable time. When his door toppled over with the kick of Morgan’s foot revealed a violent scene.
Amos’s hands were crapped securely around Y/N’s throat. Her hands were clawing at his already marred face. She fought hard, but her strength and consciousness were waning. He wriggled his face away from her hands before slamming her head into the ground. That’s all that she remembered.
She woke up in a hospital. Bright lights. Bandages. People scurrying in the hallway. A constant hum of noise in the hospital. She certainly didn’t get away unscathed. Besides the trauma on her neck, her body was tired and in pain. She barely listened when the doctors rattled off her injuries to care.
Not long after she woke, members of the BAU came by for standard questioning.
It wasn’t the way she looked that Reid noticed immediately. It was how she glanced at the book peeking out of his bag. “What’re you reading?” She asked, craning her neck. He knew perfectly well, she was avoiding his questions. But he understood. Who really wants to relive these horrors.
“The Hobbit,” he said placing the paperwork on his lap and leaning forward.
She smiled and folded her hands in her lap.
“Is it your favorite?”
“Its one of them,” he nodded. “I like to reread it every few years. You have a favorite?” He said encouraging the distraction.
“To Kill a Mockingbird. I uh, had to read it in Jr. High. Sorta fell in love with it.” Reid smiled and picked up the paperwork again. “Nothing wrong with a classic.”
After the questioning, Spencer slid his card over the table.
“If you remember anything or need me, give me a call. Anytime, okay?”
Spencer's kept making excuses to go back to the hospital. Until he dropped the guise. He just wanted to make sure she was okay. She was easy to talk to. She put on no airs. Y/N loved asking Spencer Questions. Fun ones. “Ice Breaker Questions,” she called them.
“What 3 things would you bring to a desert island?”
“What super power would you want?”
“Do you believe in aliens?”
She loved challenging his logic with whimsy. Not that he minded. Even in the faded hospital ground and under the harsh lights, she still lit up the room.
And as the weeks past, her body began to heal. But dark circled started forming under her once bright eyes. The psychological effects of trauma were likely setting in.
His mind wasn’t ever far from, Y/N.
“Boy’s got it bad,” Garcia would squeal.
“Garcia, I enjoy her company. I’m not crossing any lines here, okay?”
“Reid, what line would you be crossing? If you’re interested, there’s nothing wrong with that.” JJ laughed.
Reid, growled playfully as he headed out the door. He forgets how insightful and observant his co-workers are.
As he reached his car, his phone vibrated in his pocket. He snatched it out quickly, and scrolled to his inbox.
“Don’t mean to bother you. But are you up? Can’t really sleep.”
Reid sighed and looked to the night sky and sighed. Glancing down, he typed a quick message. And quickly loaded into the car before taking off. “Be right there.”
The hospital was quieter at night. Not so much hustle and bustle. It unnerved Y/N more than it comforted her. She heard the faint click of shoes. Not the normal tennis shes, the nurses wore.
She straightened up, moments before there was a gentle knock on the door.
“Y/N?”
“Come in.”
He poked his head in with a gentle smile. He had a smile that could launch a thousand ships.
“You okay?,” He said on the edge of the bed unsurely.
Y/N nodded and swallowed hard.
“I know he’s dead and I’m safe. I just...Have nightmares that keep me up. I just feel like he’s gonna burst through that door any minute” She pulled the blanket up to her chin.
He scooted closer and placed a gentle, reassuring hand on her knee.
“You’re fears are understandable and valid. Post traumatic stress is common. And really, nothing to be ashamed about.”
She nodded carefully, and smiled at him. “The nurses keep suggesting sleeping medicine. But on top of the pain medicines, I don’t want to be groggy all the time. I’m-I’m glad your here.”
“Well, you do need sleep. It’s a pretty critical part of the healing process.I’m glad to be here, really. Maybe I could help. My mom and I used to play this game at bedtime. We’d describe things. Like a perfect day. Things like that. We’d play when I couldn’t sleep or I had a bad day.”
She layed back and snuggled into the blankets.
“Close your eyes, Y/N,” He said as he lifted the blankets over her.
“What’s a perfect day to you?”
“Hmm, she mumbled.
“A day at the farmers market. I’d stop by Miriam’s Cafe. I’d order a tomato sandwhich and an ice green tea. I’d read out on the patio while all the people shopped. Watch the busker’s play their music,”  she sighed.
“Sounds like a good day,” Reid laughed.
“Mhmm. It’s nice,” she agreed slowly. “Be better if I had someone to go with.”
“When you get released, maybe we would go together.”
Reid asked shakily as he glanced down at her. Her eyes were drooping, as he was losing her to sleep. He tucked a strand of hair behind her ear and grabbed his bag.
Before he could get out of the door, he heard a faint reply.
“I’d really like that.”

The Aftermath
Keira was whistling cheerfully has she entered her home, the recovery of the hall was going quite well and she felt that given a couple more weeks, she would be done. As she entered hers and Masen’s home she could hear quiet sobbing coming from upstairs. Keira frowned and cocked her head to the side.
“Mase? Is that you? What's the matter?” She called out walking round to the stair case. There was no reply. Keira was becoming more and more concerned as she made her way upstairs. It just wasn’t like Masen to be hidden away let alone crying. When she was at of the top of the stairs, the sobbing was louder and coming from the direction of their bedroom. Keira walked over to the door and knocked. The sobbing stopped suddenly.
“G-g-go away…” Masen said in a hoarse voice. Keira rolled her eyes and tried to open the door. It was locked.
“Mase? Why did you lock the door? Hell why do we even have a lock on this door? Seriously, what’s wrong? Did something happen? Do I need to kick someone's ass?” Masen started sobbing again. Keira sighed and closed her eyes. “Mase you know I can pick locks, if you don’t open the door, I will.” Nothing happened. Keira growled lightly and pulled out her lock pick kit from her side bag. She made quick work of the lock and swung open the door.
Masen was on their bed, curled up in the blankets with only her green eye showing, the other covered by her hair. Her eye was bloodshot and tears were streaming from it. On the blankets were large spots of red and purple. Keira froze.
“Fuck Mase?!” She ran over to her lover and pulled back the blankets. Masen had a large cut down her cheek and it was still bleeding. Keira’s eyes widened. “Mase, shit we need to get you cleaned up. What the hell happened to you?!” Keira gently picked Masen up and took her to the bathroom. Masen said nothing as Keira managed to fix up the wound on her face. Minutes went by without either of them saying a word. “Mase, what happened? You never come home with injuries like this?” Keira asked softly, looking into Masen’s eyes with concern. Masen looked back and started to tear up.
“A-a-a…” She sobbed. Keira took her in her arms.
“Hey, hey, calm down. Take a deep breath, that’s it. Now please tell me whats going on. I hate seeing you hurt. Remember it’s the both of us against the world forever more now.” Keira whispered softly to Masen as she pulled her in, burying her head into Masen’s hair. Masen took some deep breaths and managed to calm down enough to tell Keira what happened.
“Aleks…” She whispered. Keira looked at Masen.
“Aleks? What about him? Was he being a dick again? You realise that’s how he’s been since… well for all the time we’ve known him really. He just calms down a bit round you.” Keira smiled lightly at Masen, who shook her head.
“N-no, Aleks… He hates me.” Masen looked at Keira with her tear stained face. “This, this wasn’t the normal yelling at me. The things he said… he truly meant them.” Keira frowned and used her thumb to wipe away some of the tears falling from Masen’s eyes.
“What did he say?” Masen bit her lip and looked to the side. Keira grabbed her chin gently and moved her head so Masen was looking at her again. “Masen, what did he say?” She said in a stern voice. Masen closed her eyes and sighed.
“H-he said… I should go back to Iolaea and rot w-with the gods and that you going away was a-a good thing a-and he could understand why you did a-and he preferred tainted me over actual me a-and…” Masen started sobbing again. Keira is frozen. That little bastard… She thinks. Keira crouches down to Masen, who is sitting on the floor from when she patched her up.
“Mase, I’m going to go change the blankets then I’ll be right back okay. You look like you need some rest.” Masen looks up with slight fear in her eyes. Keira smiles. “I WILL be back okay.” Keira then quickly runs out, changes the blankets and runs back to Masen in less than a couple of minutes. She lifts Masen up and takes her to their room and gently puts her into bed. “There we go now you need to get some sleep but I have one more thing to ask.” Masen snuggles into her bed but looks up at Keira when she asks her question. Keira gently runs her thumb down the wound on Masen’s cheek. “Was this Aleks?” she asked. Masen closed her eyes and buried her head into the pillow but Keira could see her nod the affirmative. Keira narrowed her eyes then shrugged of her jacket and gave it to Masen as she started to fall asleep. “Be back soon love.” She whispered and left the room.
Keira walked quietly out of the house as to disturb Masen but as soon as she was down the hill from her home, she snarled out loudly. “That fucking bastard, I’m going to murder his fucking ass.” Keira stormed down the path, with the intent of going to the red guild but luck was on her side and in the corner of her eye she saw Aleks holding Ravenel up to a tree by her neck. Looking on beside them was Amos and Ora. Keira saw red.
“FUCKING ALEKS I SWEAR I’M GONNA MURDER YOUR ASS!!!” She yelled and stormed over to where the 4 of them were standing. She saw Aleks flinch slightly and let Ravenel go. She collapsed to the ground coughing and wheezing. Keira walked straight up to Aleks and pulled on his jacket so he is at eye level with her. Amos looked on at the events unfolding in front of him while Ora went over to make sure Ravenel. Aleks, who moments ago was full of rage, looked at Keira in shock.
“Wh-?” Keira narrowed her eyes, effectively shutting him up.
“Boy… you have so much explaining to do.” She growled at him. She shoved him back causing him to stumble slightly. She then took slow but deliberate steps towards him. “I have just walked into my house with Mase in floods of tears muttering about you and how you don’t want her around anymore.” Keira cracked her knuckles audibly.
“Bleeding…” Aleks muttered. Keira kept moving forward as Aleks moved back.
“So before I kick your ass into oblivion, I’m going to give you a chance to explain yourself boy.” She growled at him. Keira was getting more and more angry, the fact that Aleks, someone who saw Masen as his mother, could hurt her so much… No one hurts Mase, ever… She thought. Aleks looked down at Keira with blank eyes. She gave him an evil looking smirk. “Just because you’re twice my size doesn’t mean I can’t give you an ass whooping.” Aleks opened his mouth to speak.
“...I...I can’t.” He said, he had gone from being absolutely livid to what seemed to be broken within a matter of minutes. Keira raised an eyebrow and her hand twitched in the direction of her sword.
“Oh really now?” She asked. Aleks shook his head.
“I-I’m sorry, I can’t. I can’t…” With that Aleks warps out of the area. Keira lets out a roar of frustration and yells into the sky.
“FOR FUCKS SAKE ALEKS! COME BACK HERE YOU COWARD!” Keira sighed and rubbed a hand over her temple, “For fucks sake…” She muttered to herself.
“Might I ask who that was?” A voice asked behind her. Keira jumped and turned.
“I SWEAR TO FUCKING GO- Oh… Er…” Keira saw 3 of her guild members behind her. Fuck got to act professional… Keira turned to the tall siren woman, who had spoken. “You must be Ora right?” Ora smiled.
“Yes, yes. It’s a pleasure to meet you in person… although I suppose now is not the best time haha…” She laughs a little awkwardly. Keira gives her an awkward half smile and scratches the back of her neck.
“Ha… yes well that was my… “son” Aleks…” Not that I consider him that at the moment… Ravenel, who had been quiet since Aleks had her up to a tree.
“I-I can explain…” She said. Keira narrowed her eyes and walked up to Ravenel so she was inches from her face.
“Oh you’d better Raven.” She growled. Raven squeaked and took a step back.
“Errr. funny that… Um...” Keira noticed the photo she was trying to hide. It was one of Aleks and Rel on their wedding day.
“Oh really? Cuz I see that photo and I’m pretty sure it’s on of Masen’s.” She raised an eyebrow at Ravenel. She looked to the side.
“Sorry… I needed it.” Keira just rolled her eyes, that photo was the least of her concerns right now. She turned so she was facing all three of them.
“So, long story short, Masen went to see Aleks, he blew up, she got hurt and now I want to murder him.” Keira frowned.
“Hmmm..” Ora looked thoughtful. Then Amos spoke up.
“So all this over a picture?” He asked. Ravenel winced.
“That… might have been partially my fault.” Keira sighed, gaining the attention of the other 3.
“Aleks… I’ve heard from Masen that he does have a tendency to have a go at her from time to time.” Keira glanced in the direction of her home. “But this, the insults he apparently said, the fact she now has a cut cheek… That’s new…” Keira trailed off.
“It seems more was said than usual.” Ora commented. Ravenel looked down at the ground, guilt rising. Keira sighed.
“Yeah…” They stood in silence for a few moments before Ora turned to Ravenel, noticing she was staring at the ground.
“Raven, it seems like there is something going through your head.” Keira and Amos looked over a Ravenel who had jumped slightly and was now trying to avoid catching anyone’s eye.
“I don’t think I should say much more than I have…” She said quietly. The group was silent once again until Keira sighed and looked up.
“As much as I want to kill the boy, I should let him calm down.” She then narrowed her eyes. “Then I’ll kill him.”
“Killings a bit far…” Ravenel murmured. Keira gave her a glare causing her to look down. Not noticing their interacting, Ora laughed to try and break the awkward atmosphere.
“Haha, it’ll be best to let the steam come out so he can think straight again.” Keira gave her a half smile.
“Either way,” Keira looked back over at Ravenel. “Raven, I heard this might be something to do with you.” Keira walked towards Ravenel, who started walking back.
“It’s not… entirely his fault.” Keira narrowed her eyes. “I-I um… really shouldn’t explain.”  Keira had her backed to a hill of dirt and leaned in.
“Considering Aleks had you pinned to a tree…” Keira raised an eyebrow. Ravenel swallowed.
“Y-yes but I don’t want to cause anymore damage than I already have.” Amos then spoke up.
“An explanation might alleviate this whole fucking sordid affair, but it’s up to you Rav.” Ravenel looked over at Amos before looking back at Keira.
“Let’s put it this way…” Keira smirked with an evil glint in her eye and punched the hill wall beside Ravenel’s head. “I won’t pin you to a tree with my hands…” Keira’s other hand touched the handle of her sword lightly. “So tell me what happened.” Ravenel let out a little whimper and started looking around for a way out of this.
“W-well you see…” She started but stopped when she saw the look on Keira’s face. Keira growled.
“I haven’t got all day.” She got closer to Ravenel’s face “What. Happened.”
“W-well I told Masen about some things Aleks told me.” Keira nodded and backed off a little, letting Ravenel continue. “Which.. I promised not to.” Keira pulled back, allowing some space between her and Ravenel. “That’s all.” Keira continued to stare at Ravenel for a few moments before sighing and relaxing her posture.
“Alright, well let this be a lesson to you.” Ravenel nodded once.
“Sure…” Keira cocked her head to the side and gave her a half smile.
“Also try and avoid Aleks for a while.” Ravenel nodded once again.
“Was planning to.” Keira nodded in agreement.
“Yeah, well he may actually kill you next time.” Keira shrugged. She then turned to the other two members that had been standing there quietly. Here we go… Keira looked up at Ora.
“Right, so you must be Ora… your fucking tall ain’t ya?” As she looked up, she squinted her eyes. Ora giggles lightly while Amos coughs.
“It’s lovely to meet you Keira!” Ora smiled. Keira smirked.
“You say that now…” Keira let out a small chuckle. “Glad to finally meet you too I suppose.” Keira let out a sigh. “I would introduce you to my partner Masen, but as you might of heard…” She glances in the direction of her house. “She’s… not doing so good at the moment.” Ora nods her head.
“It’s fine, I understand she’ll need time to recover.” Keira nodded.
“Yeah the question is how long that will b-” Keira stopped mid-sentence as something occurred to her. “Fuck…” Her blood, it was slightly purple! Holy shit! Ora overheard Keira’s muttering.
“Hmm? Purple what Keira?” She asked, tilting her head to the side, but Keira was too busy panicking internally.
“I swear to god if Masen get’s infected again because of that boy, I’m going to string him.” Keira muttered. She then noticed Ora looking at her weirdly. “Oh err, long story.” Keira gave her a small smile. Ora nodded.
“Ahh I see, you don’t have to explain if you don’t want to.” Keira sighed.
“It’s… complicated…” Keira sighed. “Anyways, seeing as most of you are here.” The 3 guild members looked at Keira. “I want to ask you to go out and collect different kind of materials, we need to soon start up production. I need stuff like redstone, gold, diamonds, stuff like that.” Ora lit up.
“Oh? Now that’s my cup of tea!” Ravenel snorted.
“You want to steal from the poor already? Wow.” Keira gave her a quick look to shut her up.
“Eh… On top of the tasks, d’ya still want more trees n’ shit planting?” Amos asked. Keira nodded.
“Yup, I saw you’re a blacksmith right Ora?” Ora nodded.
“Mhmm! Proudly so!” Keira gave her a small smile before looking over at Amos.
“Amos, you’re doing pretty good with the trees so far. And I don’t give out compliments often.” Keira gave him a small smile too.
“Thanks, I’ll get on it guildmaster.” Keira let out a snort at the title.
“Yes well I’m going to set up a chest outside Ora’s blacksmiths for you all to deposit the materials in.” Keira looked around at the group. “So we good?” Everyone nodded. “Aright then, oh and if anyone see’s that pirate girl tell her to say hey.”
“Sure, probably won’t see her though.” Keira looked over at Ravenel.
“I did say if.” Keira then took a moment before speaking again. “And you need to get out more Raven. Seriously, go say hello to people.” Ravenel scoffed.
“I already for to a weekly talking session, thats enough isn’t it?” Keira opened her mouth to retort but Amos spoke up.
“Fuckin’ pirates, gods I hate being alive…” Keira rolls her eyes and looks over at him. Ora gasps and bops him on the head.
“Amos!” Keira smirked.
“Either way, your bar ready yet?” Keira asked Ravenel. Before she could reply Amos butted in again.
“What, am I supposed to accommodate criminality?” Still talking about Lily. Keira glanced over at Amos.
“Amos.” He looked at Keira.
“Aye?”
“Shut the fuck up.” Amos blinked at Keira who just smirked back at him. “Alright, well we can have an opening soon. I can can acquire some… alcoholic beverages but…” She turned and pointed at Ravenel. “You are running the show and that means TALKING to people.” Ravenel narrowed her eyes.
“I know.” Keira nodded. Then Ora spoke up.
“What is alcohol though?” Everyone froze and looked over at Ora. Ravenel opens her mouth to speak but nothing comes out. Amos grins.
“Lemme tell ya!” He said happily. Keira sighed.
“Oh dear…” Amos didn’t hear her and continued talking.
“You’re missing out on a whole world!” Keira rolled her eyes.
“You know what Amos can probably tell you best, being the alcoholic he is.” Keira glanced over at him. “Right I’m done here, later nerds.” And leaving Ravenel to head home while Ora and Amos talk alcohol. When Keira gets home, she goes straight upstairs to check on Masen. She is sleeping soundly, gripping Keira’s jacket tightly. Keira sighs and heads to her desk to write a letter. A letter to Aleks.
