day 5: okay i finally got to Yona and completed the Zora's Domain Temple... I'm comforted to know that Yona and Sidon are in an arranged marriage,,, honestly- there's no way these guys are actual in love (I say this as a Sidlink shipper, but if you enjoy Yona and Sidon together more power to you) I mean I read the tablets and Sidon thinks of Yona as a big sister, canonically, and all at once suddenly was thrust into an engagement with her. They're great friends, but I'm choosing to believe this is a lavender marriage and both parties are gay so Sidlink can prevail and Yona already has a gf in her own Domain. BTW tho I LOVE Yona! ! ! hiiii, its been a long time since i post aa, every day I receive notifications about my drawing from botw link and I am very grateful for the support, I have never given so much attention on a drawing hehe, so yeah, thank you very much. I’m already seeing people bashing yona just because she’s marrying sidon and they are mad about the sidlink ship (which I saw coming from 50 miles away tbh) so you are so real for the sidon and yona looking at link meme. The art is beautiful but also sidon has two hands. I think all three of them would be so cute. Yona is sweet and nice and I agree that she’d totally approve- and maybe even be interested herself. As I ship sidlink I think it needs to be said that we are not misogynistic idk where the fuck y'all got that idea, I've actually played the game and the way she told Sidon to basically shut up about his worries kinda pissed me off even though Sidon was like "Yes I'm better!" I love her design, but I just don't see her character as being very useful so far like bro I even had to get the rest of the Zora armor myself. Again, we are not misogynistic, we aren't really hating on her, I am a little, but I have actually played the game and finished the Zora's Domain quest line. Please give us a break, we already upset.

Not Canon. I'd like to first address the fact that yes, I am aware of the age gap, but I feel like the fact Eddie is in his third senior year of high school is pretty relevant, and it's clear that still being in a high school environment, with no social life outside that age group, has kept him about as mature as his classmates. With that out of the way, I imagine they would probably have become good friends had they survived, and that could later blossom into something romantic. I guess there's not really a way to make sense of the trio outside of AUs, but Steddie was one of my main ships, so it felt natural to expand from there? This would be a V polycule, with Eddie in the middle.

Zelda/Link/Sidon/Yona:

Not Canon. Zelink is a given, I can see how people might interpret their relationship as platonic, and I think it was before the events of BOTW, but since regaining his memories and reuniting with Zelda I think it would be very easy for them to fall in love. Sidlink would be a thing before this, seeing as you meet Sidon before their reunion, and I genuinely think this guy is head over heels for Link and he loves to hype his short king of a boyfriend. He had a statue of them made. Self explanatory. Yona is canonically Sidon's partner, and I remember some Sidlink shippers being upset but I think she's very sweet, very suppirtive of Sidon's feelings and really appreciates Link as a metamour. I'd like to imagine her and Zelda would get along well. Just realized I don't know what this dynamic is called but it's basically a line? Zelda/Link + Link/Sidon + Sidon/Yona.

I am loving all of your takes on the craptastic disaster that is the TotK storyline. I was just curious, because I haven't seen anyone talk about it AT ALL, if you had any thoughts on the pretty blatant erasure of queer content present in botw. I'm not just talking about the awkward Zora plot that revolved around explaining to the audience how straight Sidon is (though seriously, wtf the whole thing felt surreal and like a last minute addition), but also things like the exclusion of the Gerudo Vai outfit and the specific inclusion of the straight sex Ed class, which was just downright uncomfortable. I know there were more moments but I'm of course going blank right now.

Honestly, I can't even talk about all that. I mean to be fair, this is Nintendo, I expected literally nothing, but I really wasn't prepared for them to be so... actively determined to shoot down queer headcanons?

I don't know if they were trying to, of course (though I'm pretty sure we all know Yona was shoehorned in just to sink SidLink, and for the record I'm very happy that the fandom noticed that and decided to shower Yona with love anyways, 10/10 work guys).

But my thoughts on TOTK's hatred for queer people can't really go anywhere, because it always just circles right back to when I was in Gerudo Town for the first time, and talking to the various people in the shelter. Then one of the kids asked me if I was really a man, to which I had the option to say yes or no. Now Link is many things, but I sure as hell don't see cis as being one of them, so I said no, he's not a man.

And the kids response was "I knew it! All men are liars!"

There is no option to refute this. The conversation then immediately ended with an adult coming to yell at Link... for being a man talking to a little girl. The woman had clearly heard the entire conversation, and also did not believe Link saying he wasn't a man. The game completely and utterly believed that if Link did not want to be called a man, he needed to be mocked and treated with hostile suspicion. Because the only reason he could possibly say that was if he was a man who was lying to try and get closer to the little girls.

I'm agender.

So, yes, the bad news is Sidon has a fiancé.

But the good news is, that's never stopped shippers before. And also Sidon talks about Link constantly. And also had a statue erected that depicts Link riding Sidon. And no doubt plenty of other great tidbits for Sidlink shippers (I just haven't seen the whole mission yet, I'm picking this info up from streamers for now).

Also, Yona seems very nice so let's not bash her. Let's bash Nintendo for being cowards and marrying Sidon off.

(Personally I am perfectly content assuming Sidon and Yona's marriage will be one to satisfy the royal family but they both have an understanding that they have lovers outside of the marriage.)

Yes, you're welcome to ask! I have some good news, some medium news, and some bad news.

The good news is, Link and Zelda are Nendoroids, made by Good Smile Company! They're highly articulated figures with limbs that come apart and can be posed.

The medium news is, Nendoroids are only in production for a limited time, and both Link and Zelda had their run a few years ago. They tend to go for around $150-200 each. Link was rereleased when Zelda came out, and they might do that again after TotK is out, but there's no way to know for sure.

(You can find cheap bootlegs of Link, but the quality is very poor. I won't tell you not to do it, but if you do it, start a piggy bank to save up for the real thing later on. 😉)

The bad news is, Sidon is my custom creation. I took body parts of several different Nendoroids and carved, sculpted, sanded, and painted them to resemble Sidon. It took over a year to finish, and cost - um, well, it's best not to mention what it cost. 😅

I can't make another Sidon (even had to tell his VA no, and that broke my heart!), but if you're willing to tackle a big project, I can show you everything I used and everything I did to make mine, and offer all the tips and advice and encouragement you could ask for.

Since I've been treating my Tumblr like a Sidon fancam, after I post this I'll self-reblog a few of the posts I made during and after his creation. You can scroll through and see the photos and steps.

ALL THAT SAID, I am open to suggestions for scenes to take photos of my little Sidon (especially if it's sidlink-flavored 💖). I can't promise anything - their poses and my props and photography skills are limited. But I can always do my best. ^_~
