So…what now?

With the defeat of ganondorf in totk, it’s hard to think where the franchise could go, especially that it seems that in the botw universe, the entity of ganon has been defeated. Here’s my theory (or dream) of what is in store for Link and Zelda.

I think that it would be super cool to use botw and totk’s world and characters for one more game, making this series a trilogy. However, I don’t think the enemy should be directly gloom or malice (or ganon) related. I think the game should continue to focus on the zonai, and what happened to them.

In totk, we learn that Rauru and Mineru are the only two zonai who stayed in hyrule, while the rest left after some time. It’s possible they returned to the sky. Additionally when botw concept art was being released, there was an image of Link looking at a ufo like object. While the tech that appeared in botw (and totk) is some of the most advanced tech that has been in the franchise, nothing like this truly appears in either game. So, what if this ufo like thingy is in fact the zonai?

This is where the story for the third game in the botw world begins. After defeating Ganondorf and integrating zonai tech into the world of hyrule, the world finally seems that peace. However, one day, the zonai return, wanting to take back their technology that Rauru and Mineru provided. In fact, it could be possible that the other zonai resent them for sharing their power, and use the upheaval as an example to why they need to take all secret stones and zonai tech back. However, their approach isn’t totally peaceful, and link, Zelda, and the sages have to work to stop them.

For links powers in this game, it could be really interesting to see the creative team lean more into the powers of the goddess hylia, since the theme of the game would surround the ancient magical powers of the master sword, and of hyrule, going up against a foe that is much more advanced than them.

That’s all, sorry for the kind of messy brain dump, but I think this concept would be super awesome and I’m honestly not ready to let go of the botw and totk world yet!!!!

totk is very fun dont get me wrong but i do feel like when they leaned into the "everyones being creative so lets have them make insane contraptions" thing they went so far into it that it reduced what originally made that part of botw so interesting— that these solutions were fully unintended and creative for having broken the game

#mileposting #totk lb #dont get me wrong building things is literally my entire major i love the concept they were going for here but it feels like they were both #1. too afraid to lean too far into it (limited use zonai devices) #2. too far invested in the idea (every fucking cave needs a hammer now. you cant just go in with a bomb like you used to #+ all of the enjoyment of these being unintended solutions is now limited because youre playing into what theyre expecting of you) #i think if youre gonna have a sequel that uses the same map you REALLY need to make it feel different in some way. and to me #unfortunately the map just feels like botw but . more boring because ive seen it all before #the depths are a cool area and the concept of sky islands are very neat #but it doesnt feel like enough to warrant an entire new game yet #though. please take all of this with a grain of salt as i havent gotten super far into the game yet #in any case the game is fun but i wish they would step out of the botw comfort zone LOL

day 5: okay i finally got to Yona and completed the Zora's Domain Temple... I'm comforted to know that Yona and Sidon are in an arranged marriage,,, honestly- there's no way these guys are actual in love (I say this as a Sidlink shipper, but if you enjoy Yona and Sidon together more power to you) I mean I read the tablets and Sidon thinks of Yona as a big sister, canonically, and all at once suddenly was thrust into an engagement with her. They're great friends, but I'm choosing to believe this is a lavender marriage and both parties are gay so Sidlink can prevail and Yona already has a gf in her own Domain. BTW tho I LOVE Yona! ! ! Her theme is so pretty, she is so pretty... tbh i think im a little gay for her :flustered: soooo the real ships are Sidon x Link and Yona x Me okay

Speaking of tablets, WOW cool lore like Mipha could canonicalaly speak to Sidon from beyond the grave and Sidon is the direct descendant of Princess Ruto.

THE TEMPLE WAS AWESOME BTW. EVERYTHING ABOUT IT WAS SO WELL DESIGNED. THE MUSIC, THE BUBBLES, THE FLOATING!!! I LOVED THE FLOATING SO MUCH... OUGH. IT REALLY WAS JUST PERFECT. usually water temples are the worst but this was was amazing <3 good job and give whoever thought of that floaty underwater feeling a RAISE IMMEDIATELY.
