"Feminist romance novels are everywhere. With so many options and so little time, sometimes it’s nice to have a list like this as a starting point. This is going to be a very fun list of delicious feminist romance books that you must pick up and read, but before all that, we must discuss the feminism of it all.

For the sake of this article, I am following Mikki Kendall’s approach to feminism in Hood Feminism. The idea is that committing to intersectional feminism that includes trans women, women of color, and disabled women means understanding feminist issues are inherently variable and not always immediately recognizable as feminist issues. Kendall explains, “A one-size-fits-all approach to feminism is damaging because it alienates the very people it is supposed to serve, without ever managing to support them” (3). So, while feminism is about the promotion of gender equality, that is just an element of feminism. The role of active feminists is to be aware that more than just a person’s gender impacts their access to rights and services. While I would also recommend reading bell hooks and other excellent feminist writers, I appreciate Kendall’s explanation here.

Feminist literary critics have also looked at how romance can talk about the complexities of feminist issues within their story framework. Avidly Reads Guilty Pleasures by Arielle Zibrak understands the ways romance novels are a source of feminine media culture some associate with shame and censure, reflecting that the Western world often diminishes feminine interests and pursuits. All that is to say, romances have been praised for centering feminist interests and issues like love, job security, equal partnership, and reproductive rights."

Watching the order... Finished season one and I'm pissed.

I thought, oh they worked together to defeat the big bad. How nice of them to get along. Interesting that Vera is okay with Jack being in both groups

But then!! They said just kidding! Dusted all of them and then stole all their shit?! Alyssa dusted Jack so hard he doesn't even remember his name?

I'm really starting to hate these blue Rose bitches, I hope the werewolves are somehow immune to the dust and they rip them apart as revenge.

Saying Hamish's character was inconsistent in season 2 implies it was ever consistent to begin with. Season 1 was a giant game of narrative ping pong with Hamish.

this is going back to this from last that someone else submitted and you answered “Dylan works with Jack to plan a surprise trip to Jersey for him and Avery.” Since Dylan and Avery exist in Stella’s world and dad!Jack + Alyssa also exist in Stella’s world. What does Alyssa think about Avery and Dylan?

I see her being off standish to Avery at first because she’s not used to many females but takes right up with Dylan because she’s always surrounded by males. Maybe she goes right up to him and hands him her favorite toy. This toy is something that she carries around EVERY. WHERE. Like this toy is something no one can touch but Jack and Luke, sometimes, and she just holds it up to him grinning right off the bat.

and maybe Avery loves kids so seeing her marc right up to Dylan instead of her making hurts her heart a little bit. especially seeing her follow Stella around everywhere too.

Stella and Luke definitely explain to Avery how it's always just been her and jack and how Alyssa gets a little weary around girls bc she's always around guys and it's not something she's used too.
