Slender mansion headcanons?

Aight anon you didnt mention who to write for so I'm gonna write about all my favs, also this will be infuenced by my personal rewrite so I hope you dont mind!!

(Charcters included: Jeff, Ben, Nina, Toby, EJ, Clockwork, Jane, Masky/Tim, The Operator and a hint of Laughing Jack)

I'll make a part 2 as soon as I can because I have way too many thoughts about the Mansion to fit in one post.

◇Slender Mansion Headcanons◇

◇Part 1◇

• Actual fucking chaos

• Thank god the Mansion is so deep in the woods because they would have been reported for SEVERAL noise complaints.

• Ben and Jeff usually play videogames late into the night (usually old PS2 titles, horror or multiplayer games) and Jeff has almost 0 voice control.

• So Tim (or Jane) usually has to barge in and yell at them to keep it down, not that he sleeps much anyways but theyre annoying and Nina is a light sleeper.

• Ben, Clockwork and Tim are all insomniacs so they usually all play board games or go for long drives together, Ben has successfully gotten them into dnd.

• Ben is pretty bad at taking care of himself because he just kinda....forgets due to his ADHD so everyone in the mansion gives him their little reminders or help out.

• Whether its Nina brushing his hair, Jane bringing him dinner when he forgot to eat or Toby essentially throwing him in the shower (never the bathtub his phobia of deep water is too strong and everyone in the mansion is mindful of it)

• Nina, Jeff and Ben all have movie nights every Tuesday. Occasionally the other members of the mansion will join them if the're free but they all have different hunting schedules set by The Operator.

•Nina screams at every jumpscare in a horror movie, her screams are so loud that EJ can hear it from the basement.

• The Operator himself doesn't live in the Mansion although it is his. Hes rarely seen or heard from, only leaving notes around the house. The only one really fond of him is Nina.

• The Operator usually leaves breakfast on the table in the morning for all of them, Clockwork has a small feeling that he doesn't like Jeff because his eggs are never done the way he likes.

• Speaking of Clockwork, the only people she really relaxes around are Toby and EJ, otherwise shes the resident strong, scary, silent type. Ben was low-key scared of her at first but theyre cool now.

• She has major anger issues so his fears are validated, she mostly does a good job of hiding it and generally is very friendly although her bluntness comes of as being mean sometimes.

• EJ and Clockwork usually give each other book and audio drama podcast reccomendations. They're so comfortable around each other that everyone though they were dating at first (They're not).

• EJ was studying to be a surgeon before he got into this mess, his skills carried over and he acts like the in house doctor for the mansion, frequently gets annoying at Tim's smoking.

• EJ honestly spends more time in his lab in the basement than his actual room, he doesn't let many people down there for "sanitation" reasons but everyone else knows its just to keep the teenagers from being more traumatized than they already are.

• Nobody goes into the attic as The Clown (Laughing Jack) lives there, they're all a little afraid of him but he only leaves and enters the room through the attic so hes never seen in the rest of the house.

• Jane had to go into the attic to speak to The Clown once on instruction of The Operator and acted out of character for the rest of the week, keeping all the cupboards and wardrobes in her vicinity open at all times.

• Jane and Tim are often regarded as "The Parents" of the Mansion as they're the oldest, both being in their mid to late 30s, everyone MOSTLY respects them enough to listen.

• Nina treats Clockwork and Jane like big sisters and often finds every excuse to tag along and spend time with them, usually ends up rambling about random fanfiction or a new show she's watching while they listen.

• Clockwork and Toby are like Ben and Jeff just older. Two peas in a pod, they go everywhere together and Clockwork becomes a little more unhinged around him. They've been hiding a stolen stoplight in Toby's room for 3 months and nobody has noticed yet.

• Toby and Jeff either get along a little too well or are fist fighting there is no in between. They're both loose canons. Nobody can tell if they're friends or hate each other.

• Toby and Nina both get along well as they're able to understand and read each other better than the other mansion members due to their shared experience having bpd.

• Toby often accompanies Nina on missions and looks out for her, similar to an older brother, and Nina goes on frequent trips with him to help bring firewood for the Mansion.

• They have their moments but overall everyone gets along pretty well.

Hiya!! I'm just wondering if I can request Rui and Tsukasa (seperate) with a boyfriend who likes exploring abandoned places? Like they also like watching people explore abandoned places too, whenever Tsukasa or Rui come over the tv is playing a YouTube video of someone doing some exploring. However, because he explores these places too he most likely gets into trouble with the authorities if he isn't careful. I'd like to see how Tsukasa and Rui would act with someone like this and/or if they join in every once and a while!

♡ ABANDONED PLACES - Tsukasa Tenma and Rui Kamishiro x Reader

Tsukasa:

The first time he discovers this hobby/interest of yours, Tsukasa doesn't really know how to feel about it-

The first time he goes over to your house, he asks you about the video you were watching. He's more than surprised by the ramble you launch into about exploring abandoned places

He definitely would be scared for your safety, you never know what you can find in places like that! You have to promise him you're all prepared to explore before you go-

He's the kind of person who's so used to things being loud and vibrant, so the thought of exploring abandoned places will definitely not be his cup of tea

You can eventually convince him to join you to explore an abandoned place like a theme park, but he gets so thrown off by the experience that he decides to leave you to your exploring alone-

"This place is just so...dark and quiet-" "That's the point of abandoned places!" "It's too dark and quiet!!-"

Rui:

When Rui discovers your hobby/interest in exploring abandoned places, he's more than intrigued by the thought!

When he came over to your house for the first time and saw the video you had on, he actually sat down and watched the whole thing with you. He may not have context, but it looked super cool!

Let's be honest, he's not the most concerned about health or the law. As long as you come back from your explorations mostly unscathed, he encourages them a lot-

His interest in discovering old machinery and things like it are definitely one of the main reasons he'd tag along on your adventures. He loves learning experiences!

Abandoned factories or anywhere with machinery will definitely get him to follow you on your adventures, and he absolutely delights in jumpscaring you-

"Rui? Where did you-" "Ah! Sorry to startle you dearest, did you see this machinery?" "...Rui I swear-"

Since I had multiple tags, in addition to my own answers I'm gonna answer half of the questions for an oc and the other half for another oc. I'm gonna use the brothers Riley and Jimmy from my unnamed WIP (and it's unnamed sequel! *sob*)

Are you named after anyone? Not to my knowledge. My mom was pretty random about names—my oldest sibling wasn’t named after anyone at all whereas my second oldest sibling was named after two different people

When was the last time you cried? I genuinely do not remember but I know it was a really long time ago

Do you have kids? No, thank goodness, because while I’d be a better parent than most parents I see in public, I very very much do not want that. I get worn out by nothing, I really could not handle a whole actual human child

Do you use sarcasm a lot? Yes. I’ve been told I have a dry humor (to which I responded “well, yeah, I grew up in a landlocked state.” He laughed the whole way back to his office lmao)

What’s the first thing you notice about people? Whether they seem happy or not

What’s your eye color? Dark blue, but I have sectoral heterochromia in my right eye! The different color is brown, and there are three sections of it, so it looks like I have a brown star in that eye! My heterochromia and my hair have always been my favorite things about myself lol

Scary movies or happy endings? This is circumstantial for me. I don’t really have a preference betwixt these options on their own. Curse of the Black Pearl scared the shit out of me when I was…however young I was when it first came out, I don’t remember and I don’t wanna math my age, but—it scared me then (that was before I learned I have severe kinemortophobia; I can handle CoBP skeletons now) and now it’s one of my all-time favorite movies. Alternatively, Return of the King technically has a happy ending cuz they succeed at destroying the Ring, and that is also one of my favorite movies of all time. I would need more info about the movie to make my pick, but I do prefer action and comedy, so happy ending? Most labeled scary movies are really dull to me and only rely on jumpscares (which annoy me illimitably). Anyway, I’ll shut up about this question cuz that ended up really long; sorry!

Any special talents? Uhhh rambling, I guess lmao

Where were you born? Arkansas, although I have never actually lived in that state. I am grateful for that

What are your hobbies? Writing. Reading. Games—video, board, card, outdoor. Procrastinating writing 😔

Have you any pets? Yesss! I have always had dogs and sometimes cats, and as of now, I have two buppy and the dumbest kitty I’ve ever had. She will literally run face-first into the wall and doesn’t always catch herself when you slowly lower her to the floor in that sliding motion, like you’re pouring water from your hands. She has landed on her face—multiple times!!—from that because she apparently doesn’t think landing on her paws is important. She's so dumb, it's great

What sports do you play/have played? Softball when I was peewee. Since then, I haven’t been on any actual teams, but I have dabbled with mini golf and yard football (I have a good spiral but I do not have the yeet)

How tall are you? 5’8, close to 5’9 I think?

Favorite subject in school? English cuz I got good grades in it lmao outside of quizzes and tests, I always loved reading about biology and I really enjoyed my psychology classes

Dream job? Writer tbh, with like a side gig at an animal sanctuary or smth

Are you named after anyone? When his biological mother was young, she had a dog that she loved more than anything; had it throughout her teen years and even a couple years into her twenties. It was rough on her when the dog passed, but not long after that, she had her firstborn with her husband. She never considered any name other than what her dog had been called—Riley Zeke

(3) Do you have kids? Yes, although that’s a very sensitive topic for him

(5) What’s the first thing you notice about people? Behavior and how they communicate with those around them

(7) Scary movies or happy endings? Happy endings. He was a big fan of scary movies when he was a dating teen tho lol

(9) Where were you born? Alabama, although when his biological parents died, he and his brother were moved up north to their paternal grandmother. He had a bit of an accent when he was first moved, but it faded

(11) Have you any pets? No, actually. While Riley has never had a pet of his own, there were many a dog and cat brought into their house during his younger years; however their mother drew the line when a nest on baby squirrels was brought inside

(13) How tall are you? Riley is 6’2, and stopped growing somewhere in his late teens

(15) Dream job? All he knows is soldiering tbh it was his dream ever since he was five years old. He does love being the center of attention though, so something to do with a stage would be pretty good for him

For Jimmy, who gets the even numbers

(2) When was the last time you cried? That’s a tough question. I know of a couple times he’s cried, but he doesn’t cry very often

(4) Do you use sarcasm a lot? Oh yeah, he uses sarcasm a lot

(6) What’s your eye color? Jimmy has dark green eyes. No heterochromia for him tho (RIP)

(8) Any special talents? Quite a few, actually. For starters, he’s not the best musician in the family, but he does know how to play three instruments, he can control lucid dreams, he can roll multiple coins across his knuckles at the same time, he knows a few magic tricks, and he can juggle just about anything—if he has four or fewer items, he doesn’t even need to pay much attention to what he’s doing. Lots of things were broken during his practicing years for that

(10) What are your hobbies? Nonsense, shenanigans, and a little dabbling in tomfoolery

(12) What sports do you play/have played? Jimmy was probably the laziest of his siblings tbh he didn’t care much for sports. Tried most of them out but never committed to them beyond the season. He didn’t even finish the season for soccer. He doesn’t like running

(14) Favorite subject in school? Science. He’s always loved doing the experiments himself, and science is the perfect scapegoat for when something gets set on fire, as it is more than just an excuse, it is a reason!

Why Giant Spiders in Media Often Fall Short, at least for me, And Some Ideas to Potentially Remedy That

Like most people, I have a level of visceral disgust and fear towards spiders. It’s gotten alot better during the last year or so and I can share a room with them without being bothered by it, but as soon as one of these eight-legged fucks falls onto my bed, I scream like a little bitch.

For both yours and my sake, there will be no pictures, however since imagination is a powerful thing I will be still tagging it with an Arachnophobia Trigger-Warning. I don’t want to cause anyone any distress.

This’ll be a long post, buckle in.

One issue I find is that when scaled up, they’re often treated like mammalian predators. They hiss, they spit, they thud along the ground as they chase you like a mutated wolf from the depths of Chernobyl with a case of rabies so severe it might as well be its own disease.

And at that point I ask: why a spider?

And most people would answer any number of reasons-- that they’re creepy, they have an ungodly number of limbs with joints to match through which their movement is unnatural, they hide in cramped, tight and often dark spaces that they’ll skitter from as soon as their den is displaced-- or they hang their in the centre of their webs, watching, waiting, their silhouette on display for any unfortunate passerby to behold.

They seem uncanny, like they’re not an animal acting of of survival instincts, trying to make it through this unforgiving world like any other organism-- they feel like they have a mind-- and not in the humanising sense, more like they’re inherently malevolent, like they intent to hide amongst your belongings, in the garden shed, in the attic because they’re demons of the dark, boogeymen you search your room for before you turn the lights of and go to sleep.

Realising they’re just animals was a big factor in lessening my fear... and so when media treats them as so, it dampens the uncertainty, that unease that these creatures are even of this world. Sure, the scene can still be very tense, no doubt, but it often sacrifices that unpredictability that spiders have.

Think about how we interact with spiders, too. They often seem to appear out of nowhere-- you lift a cushion and BAM, there it is, with all its horrible legs skittering wildly as you make to swat it with a shoe. Or maybe you’re reading, your back against the back of your seat, relaxing after a long day, and maybe your eyes absentmindedly scan the room when HOLY SHIT THERE’S A SPIDER ON THE WALL NEXT TO ME--

When talking about giant spiders, having the character look up and suddenly spot a massive fucking spider either blended into a tree-trunk or stark against a stone wall could be a great way to capture that “OH SHIT-” moment.

Oddly enough, a boss that managed to capture this feeling was Kuromori from Shadow of the Colossus. It’s a huge, lizard-esque construct found in this tall, narrow arena with many openings. It scales the wall and spews lasers at you-- granted, I am biased since for some reason enemies with fuck-you lasers scare the absolute shit out of me-- and your goal is to avoid these lasers while attempting to shoot each of its legs so it loses its grip and falls to the bottom, exposing its weakpoint. Let me tell you, watching that bossfight makes me squirm horrendously-- in a way, its a sort of reversal of the way we find and kill spiders, and it works wonderfully; and it doesn’t even have all the visual grotesqueness that’d no doubt make this even more potent.

Another thing to keep in mind, is that despite the number of eyes most spiders have absolutely shit eyesight, and as such mostly depend on touch and hearing, and their hunting habits reflect that-- often being ambush predators, or simply waiting around for food to come by. Of course, there’s alot of variety and there’s always an exception to the rule, but I feel like this is good to take into account if we’re talking about the garden-variety house spider lookalikes.

I also find that often in movies there’s far too much focus on the face-- is it unpleasant looking? Yes, but we’re no often looking straight into a spider’s face, now are we? There’s an instinctive unease at the silhouette of a spider-- our ancestors learned to fear it due to the risk of potentially dying from a venomous bite that could fester and rot. For me, its the legs that really get me, especially arched ones. It just looks so... wrong, hideous, a twisted abomination. Its even worse when the spiders have an almost fleshy look to them-- it makes me want to puke.

When it comes to tarantulas, while I don’t feel particularly grossed out by them as they’re big and soft, there is alot you can do with them. They’re ambush hunters, dwelling in cramped, silk-lined tunnels, waiting for unsuspecting prey to stumble across their threshold-- hell, some species like the aptly named Trapdoor Tarantula create a little hatch for said tunnel. They attack by suddenly leaping out, and dragging whatever poor creature they caught back in.

Imagine some characters walking through the underbrush when suddenly one of them is grabbed by this massive fuck-you tarantula and gets dragged into its lair, leaving the other characters to follow them it, weapons bared, along the dark, narrow, sticky passage littered with the shells and bones of its previous meals, possibly coming across a shed exoskeleton or two-- I don’t like jumpscares, but by god that is some potentially neat jumpscare material.

Now, while I’ve been writing this I’ve been mostly referring to spiders about the size of a bear and upwards, but what about having spiders merely a couple feet long? Imagine feeling a tickle on your neck, and finding one of these fucks crawling up your back? Now THAT is fucking terrifying. Hell, you could still have spiders bigger than that maybe about four feet in leg-span clinging onto the walls of a dungeon, illuminated by your torchlight.

If you’re going for a sky-scraper tall, huge as all fuck kaiju of a spider that blots out the sun, I’d say go for a spindly, gnarly-legged dark spider that’ll stand out against the sky-- however, if you have an idea that works better or that you’d want to try, go for it!

However, I think I’ve gone on long enough. Sorry for the ramblings, this has been on my mind for months now, and I love breaking things down to see how they do or don’t work-- especially when it comes to biology and animal behaviour(???).

Ultimately, go with whatever works best for you! These are just the things that set me off, and I’d love to hear other ideas or expansions upon the ones I presented!

And of course, if giant arthropods are possible, why stop at spiders?

Kinda a joke prompt but I almost gave my friend a heart attack the other day and thought this was a decent situation for a writing prompt. For Shizuku, Hanasato, and Rui (I love Tsukasa sm but it feels off to request a reader with a health condition for him lol): The character is out on a walk with the reader, who suddenly stops walking. They stop and ask what's up and the reader just says "one moment" before immediately passing out and falling over. Bonus points if the character didn't know the reader was prone to passing out until now <3.

♡ PASSING OUT - Shizuku Hinomori, Minori Hanasato and Rui Kamishiro x Reader

Shizuku:

Shizuku loves going on walks, but due to her horrible sense of direction, she usually needs someone to walk with her. That's where you come in!

Walks with her are usually peaceful, a calm energy washing over you both as you just enjoy the atmosphere

Well, until one day. You suddenly came to a halt, causing Shizuku to turn to you in confusion

She pauses as well, "Hm? Are you okay?" You nodded, looking at her, "Yeah, one sec-" before you just fall to the ground, passing out

She's terrified, she's never seen that happen before- Are you dying???

She also has no idea where the two of you are, so she can't take you anywhere. She settles for sitting on the ground, resting your head on her lap

When you wake up, you have a very concerned Shizuku looming above you-

You explain your condition, and while she's relieved she knows now, she wishes you told her before that jumpscare-

Minori:

Minori doesn't go on walks often unless she's taking Samo out, and she invites you to tag along at times!

The walks are usually fun, with Minori sprinting after Samo whenever he has random bursts of energy-

However, there was one day where you suddenly paused in your tracks. She stopped as well, telling Samo to stop before looking at you

"Hey angel, did something happen??" "Ah, I mean...Hold on-" Cue you falling to the ground and passing out-

She's scared and scares Samo in the process, who ends up barking at you-

She doesn't know how to move you, but she tries her hardest! It's when she's close to calling 911 that you end up regain consciousness

She's absolutely relieved, and pulls you into a hug-

After you explain your condition, she starts preparing you and herself for whenever that happens again-

Rui:

Rui often takes walks to flesh his ideas out and plan for shows coming soon. He invites you along so that he has somebody to talk things through with

These walks can usually get quite chaotic, with Rui spouting crazy idea after crazy idea, and you just have to stand there shaking your head

However, one day, in the middle of one of his rambles, you stopped walking. He doesn’t notice at first, but when you don't respond to one of his questions, he looks around for you

"Dearest? Did the idea blow your mind that much?" "Ah no, I just-" You then proceed to fall to the ground and pass out-

He's shocked for only a second, before he quickly scoops you up in his arms on instinct

He had no idea what even happened, but his immediate reaction is to take you to a hospital. They would definitely know what was wrong-

You wake up in his arms, and it’s probably the most serious you've seen him
