I have 118 fics on AO3.

Now, some of those are longer than others, and I’m largely a oneshot writer, but that’s a lot of fics. I was curious what the breakdown of that number was year to year, since in 2016 I basically stopped writing and posting art, and I thought I’d share that answer with you guys. (As a bonus, I’ll share my favourite fic from each year just for funsies. Even some old old old ones.)

This got long, so actual stats/faves under the cut.

2012: 12 fics! (An interesting factor here is that I joined the archive in July, so this is 12 in about five months rather than over a whole year.)

Fave fic: “I’m the Doctor - basically, RUN!” obviously a Doctor Who fic, it’s a companion character study. Before my fic naming skills really developed.

2013: 46 fics. Peak Percy Jackson/Heroes of Olympus time, but this was also the year of the 130 Night Vale ficlet August.

Fave fic: Because I Knew You, the Percy Jackson/Heroes Wicked AU. Featuring Percy as Glinda, Nico as Elphaba, Annabeth and Jason as Fiyero, Hazel as Nessa, and Leo as Boq.

2014: 20 fics. 18 of which were PJO/HOO.

Fave Fic: Lucky 13, PJO/HOO - a Nico-Bianca age swap fic

2015: 18 fics. The year of Gravity Falls!

Two faves this year, of about equal ranking:

Falling Hard and the Twin Trade AU that spun off from it, Gravity Falls AU wherein Mabel got sucked into a parallel universe at the end of Not What He Seems

The Stuff of Legend, one of the only Phineas and Ferb fics I’ve ever written but one of my favourite fics I’ve ever written by far. Post-Act Your Age, the gang’s first year of college.

2016: 2 fics. I wasn’t kidding when I said I pretty much stopped writing.

Fave fic: Supersonic, a post Trials of Apollo 1 revamp of a PJO fic from 2014. (The other fic this year paired with this one.)

2017: 8 fics, enter Star vs the Forces of Evil and Ducktales.

Fave fic: break my fall, SVtFoE - a Star character study written after the season 2 finale. My 100th fic on AO3!

2018: 3 fics. An odd mixed bag of fics, too.

Fave fic: Finding Marlin, 3700 words of complete self-indulgence. The only fic I’ve ever written for Finding Nemo, has probably no audience outside of myself, and I’m okay with that. It’s a human AU, because they’re fish.

2019: 9 fics, with two months to go! I think I’m getting back in my groove a bit!

Fave fics (two again, because I can’t choose):

come stop your crying, a revisit to an old PJO/HOO concept after I reread my favourite Heroes book. At 5600 words it’s the longest thing I’ve written in a while.

until I’m home again, obviously one of my most recent Ducktales fics. Just a sweet little story about Donald and his kids.

So that’s the breakdown! I don’t know what 2013 me was doing to write 46 fics but I really wish I could recapture it. That said I’ve been writing a lot more lately so hopefully, maybe I’m getting some of that momentum back.

One of the cool things about going back through and pulling out old faves was that I actually still like a lot of my older fics. Not all of them, but a lot. And even the ones I don’t like, I know I’ve grown a lot from writing.

Phineas And Ferb - Digimon AU

Here’s some headcannons I have for my Digimon AU of Phineas and Ferb:

Probably I should rename this AU to: “The DigiSummer Belongs To You” or something, but I don’t know. What do you think?

I want to make it loyal to the japanese version of Digimon, so the titles of the chapter, can be anime-esque, similar to @themurphyzone with his fanfic: “Absolutely Disastrous” (good fanfic by the way I love it so much), this also, will apply my other Digimon AU’s (”Milo Murphy’s Law”, “Gravity Falls”, “Star Vs The Forces Of Evil”, “Ducktales 2017″ and “Steven Universe”)

Continuing with this. I’ll plan to use the original names of the Digimons and their attacks and also for when they evolve. This also, will apply with the afromentioned AU’s.

Some Digimons are attracted by the Big Ideas of Phineas and Ferb, some examples are: Kenkimon (”Rollercoaster” and “Rollercoaster: The Musical”), Racemon (”The Fast And The Phineas”), Pumpmon (”One Good Scare Ought To Do It!”), Mummymon (”Are You My Mummy?”), Daipenmon (”S’Winter”), Surfimon (”Lawn Gnome Beach Party Of Terror”), Knightmon (”A Hard Day’s Knight”), Dressmon (”Run Away Runway”), Footmon (”My Fair Goalie”) and Kotemon, Igamon, Kougamon and Shurimon (”Quietest Day Ever”). I still have to find a proper explanation why this happens in Danville.

One of my biggest troubles, is how I’m going to start this AU. Because, according to me Perry is Phineas’ Digimon Partner. Because my idea is that Phineas ends discovering that Perry is a Digimon in the first chapter and they eventually become partners, after some issues, but he and Perry hide this from Monogram, at least until the end of the first arc. But, should I make Phineas discover this early or save it for later? In case you ask, yes, I have a design for Perry as a Digimon.

Perry, Steve, Pinky, Peter and Dennis are actually Digimons, but can disguise theirselves as animals, like Mummymon and Archnemon in Digimon 02 and Bagramon in Digimon Xros Wars. (This also applies with Diogee and Waddles in my Digimon AU’s of Milo Murphy’s Law and Gravity Falls respectively)

The agents of OWCA are actually Digimons, that can disguise theirselves as animals (the one they resemble the most).

Steve the chameleon is Ferb’s digimon’s partner. Steve and Perry can jogress together (fuse/DNA Digivolution) and create a digimon that resembles “The Beak”, that hero Phineas and Ferb made and appeared thrice in the series. I still need to make a design of The Beak, as a Digimon.

I have a strange headcannon of Phineas and their friends helping a team formed by a Kotemon, an Igamon, a Kougamon and a Shurimon in “Quietest Day Ever” to save a town taken over by a Zanbamon. XD, why I imagine this?

Dennis the rogue rabbit, is a Lopmon and one of the antagonists, that later gets redeemed. My headcannon is that in a beginning, he took advantage of Candace to reach his nefarious goals, similar to DarkKnigthmon with Yuu and Quartzmon/Astamon with Ryouma in Digimon Xros Wars and Shademon with Nene in the Manga, but I also want that similar to Shademon in the manga, is purified by Candace and redeemed, and stop being evil, despite this, he’s still morally ambiguous.

Señor Frawg is a Digimon and is one of the antagonists in my AU. I plan that until Candace shows him love, he won’t be purified, and therefore, he can’t evolve (Señor Frawg is an ugly digimon that evolves into a beautiful Digimon, when receives love). I’m still planning in some aspects. (Thanks to @themurphyzone for making that fic. Thanks for the idea!)

I still love the idea of Perrysmirtz being cannon in this AU. Although I need excuses of Perry working with Doofenshmirtz, despite Phineas is his partner and Doofenshmirtz has already Agumon (Black) as partner. (Thanks Digimon Cyber Sleuth! Thanks for showing us, that a relationship Human-Digimon can be possible)

Like in the series, Perry, Steve, Pinkie, Dennis and all of the OWCA agents are unable of speech. This also applies to Diogee and Waddles in my Digimon AU’s of Milo Murphy’s Law and Gravity Falls.

An idea I always had and I like for this AU, is one, is one in which Lawrence Fletcher, Adrian Fletcher, Captain Bob Webber and Beppo Brown have an adventure in the Digital World and have to fight againist a Daemon. And here would be where Lawrence and Adrian meet their partners. Bob Webber and Beppo Brown had already interacted with Digimons, before this (”Nose Lake Monster” and “Oil On Candace” respectivelu). Also, in this adventure Lawrence is infected by a Dark Seed (Dark Spore in the dub).

Let’s Talk #Disney’s #StarVsTheForcesOfEvil: Final Thoughts & Season 5

Star Vs. The Forces of Evil was a great deconstruction of the magical girl genre with a Disney twist.

For my Final Thoughts on Disney’s Star Vs The Forces of Evil, as well as the possibility of a fifth season, feel free to keep reading. There will be spoilers.

The two things that made this show stand out from other magical girl shows such as Sailor Moon, an obvious source of inspiration, were how the monsters were treated and the magic literally being destroyed.

In other magical girl shows, monsters are just mindless beings the characters kill and destroy. In this show, they were presented as normal citizens who just want to live their lives. The people of Mewni saw them as threats and second-class citizens. Only the privileged, such as Tom, could be anywhere near them.

Star, Eclipsa, and Marco all treated them as regular people, while everyone else in Mewni wanted them to go away forever. Even when Eclipsa became queen, they simply moved into the forests to build new civilizations and then joined Mina’s army to destroy them all.

Some fans have debated how the monsters were treated as either being racism or colonialism. Regardless of which of the two you may believe the show may have been presenting, it did its best to show it for a younger audience without referencing real world events.

The most divisive aspect about how the show ended was Star’s decision to get rid of magic forever. It says something when it was considered by some online to be the worst finale the day it aired (Coincidentally, Game of Thrones ended later that evening).

It is understandable why some fans did not like how the series ended, with Star no longer being either a princess or magical. There are numerous pieces of fan art and written fiction online which have Star and Marco eventually becoming Queen and King of Mewni (below) and having a daughter who goes on her own adventures with their friends’ children.

The events of the third and fourth seasons all but crushed the possibility of that ever happening. In the end, it made perfect sense for Star to destroy the magic.

She came to the realization that it caused nothing but trouble. Her parents originally sent her to Earth because of her own magical antics, but even then kept using it to do things such as turn a teacher into a monster and endanger her friends several times.

Her mother Moon, Eclipsa, and Meteora all used magic for nefarious purposes. Moon started a war, Eclipsa played around with dark magic, and Meteora used it to consume souls and almost destroy Mewni.

When Toffee had the magic, via an unaware Ludo, he used it to burn the Book of Spells, kill Glossaryck (the first time), and almost kill Star. Beforehand, he tried to destroy magic by threatening Marco’s life if Star didn’t disable her wand.

Mina’s undying commitment to Queen Solaria, who may have been the only person to treat her with respect, made her use magic to almost not only kill all the monsters but also the royals she believed betrayed Solaria’s legacy.

In other words, magic in this show’s universe was both beneficial and detrimental at the same time. For once, the bad guy was right.

(On a related note, Michael C. Hall was awesome as Toffee. Also, Eden Sher was great as Star.)

Star simply leveled the playing field by getting rid of all magic forever.

Despite these positives, there were a handful of flaws, such as the intro and the final episodes acting as somewhat of a rushed fifth season.

The theme song was great, but the visuals barely changed and quickly became dated by what was happening within the series. This is mainly an overall issue with Disney’s animated series, which rarely change their intros’ visuals. The only other notable show to change visuals has been DuckTales (2017).

The first intro works for the first season but makes no sense in the second season since Star and Ludo rarely confronted each other.

The second and final intro which began airing in the third season quickly became outdated right after Eclipsa broke out of her crystal. It made even less sense during the fourth season, since Heinous was no longer a threat and Ludo had all but retired.

The last few episodes of the fourth season, starting right after Eclipsa’s coronation, felt like a condensed fifth season. It wrapped up several story threads, such as what happened to Jackie after the breakup, and then went right into the final arc. It felt rushed after the season had relatively good pacing.

Disney supposedly has a “four season rule” for their shows, in which they end after four seasons regardless of their success and popularity. It is a nonsensical concept since some of their shows have had fifth seasons, such as Disney XD’s Avengers Assemble and Disney Channel’s Mickey Mouse.

Additionally, their shows have had odd runs such as Phineas and Ferb running for four seasons consisting of 222 episodes shown throughout eight years.

For comparison, Star ran for four seasons with 77 episodes within four years.

Should this show return for a fifth season or film? No.

“Cleaved” was a great conclusion to the series, leaving the characters happily ever after with a new status quo. It would be weird to continue a show primarily about a magical girl with no magic. It makes as much sense as a sixth season of Gotham.

Also, it might have been really boring and mundane seeing the characters go from fighting the magical forces of evil to probably running a monster hotel.

It is possible Disney could revive the series by having the magic suddenly return. However, it might be seen as contrived after everything the characters endured. It would be like if Bill Cipher came back the day after Dipper and Mabel left Gravity Falls.

There is always the possibility for a revival. Both the aforementioned Gravity Falls and Phineas and Ferb returned long after their respective finales, the former as a graphic novel and the latter with crossover appearances on Milo Murphy’s Law and an upcoming original film for Disney+.

In the meantime, there are really good fan continuations currently being written and drawn. One great example is @moringmark's Echo Creek: A Tale of Two Butterflies, a web comic centering around Mariposa and Meteora as teenagers living in a post-”Cleaved” world. It is one of the best fan stories I have ever read and I highly recommend it.

MoringMark is also the artist behind the Ship War AU comic, a fun and dramatic retelling of the second season finale which centers around the future children of Marco, Jackie, and Star. At the moment, it appears to be on a permanent hiatus.

Star Vs. The Forces of Evil was yet another great animated series from Disney. While it may not have reached the same type of mainstream success as fellow series Gravity Falls, it had a great story with great characters and a great conclusion. It was a unique deconstruction of the magical girl genre by Disney that is unlikely to be rivaled in the near future.

Unless the show is compared to its successors just like Gravity Falls is compared to every mystery-based animated series ever.

(Amphibia is a cool new show and I can’t wait to see The Owl House.)

Scrimblo bimblo (underrated/underappreciated fave) -- Julieta, Stacy and Jeremy, and Penumbra. They all get a good amount of screen time but they deserve so much more love.

Glup shitto (obscure fave, character that can appear in the background for 0.2 seconds and I won’t shut up about it for a week) -- Camilo (obviously), Ginger and Love Handel (especially Sherman my boy Sherman), and Sal from This Duckburg Life. Technically he counts.

Poor little meow meow (“problematic”/unpopular/controversial/otherwise pathetic fave) -- I'm not even a huge Bruno fan but he just simply is a poor little meow meow. Also Doofenshmirtz. Like. Look at him. And of course my dear sweet child, my baby boy, the world's worst child, Doofus Drake. And Megavolt, even tho he's technically DWD.

Horse plinko (character I would torment for fun, for whatever reason) -- Dolores (she doesn't deserve it but I am doing it to her anyway), Sherman (y'all should see the AUs we used to have for Love Handel. it was. a lot.) and most of the villains I write but also Dewey. My Dewey has been through so much. I do love to torment Doofus and Rockerduck and Ma Beagle and Glomgold tho. I do.

Eeby deeby (character I would send to superhell) -- I don't wanna send any of them :( but Camilo because it would be funny. And uhhh Roger Doofenshmirtz and John D. Rockerduck.

Yeah so sometimes you draw Perry the Platypus in the context of the ducktales universe and realize that means everyone else would be birds and stuff so you have to draw that too

Anyways, why I made some choices under the cut!

Phineas

I couldn't figure out how to give him a triangle head, my bad :(

Was originally going to make him a robin, but then I was looking for some reference

Stumbled upon Panchito

This man has half of Phineas’s hair and when I was drawing it came out looking like a comb anyways

So yeah he’s a chicken!

Ferb

Typically in Human!Perry aus they make Perry the uncle on Ferb’s side

So I decided to stick with that and make Ferb either a duck, beaver, or platypus (ignore how that technically doesn’t work it’s fine)

Wasn’t feeling beaver, so I got to drawing and when I came time for the tail I just went duck

Plus green ducks exist and are cool so it works

Candace

You know we have to get that long neck in when it comes to Candace

So my first thought was Ostrich

My second thought was swan but I decided Ostrich made more sense to stylistically make orange

So ostrich!

Yes I know Phineas and Candace are biologically related so it would make more sense to make them the same species

but consider, we don’t know who the father is and I didn’t draw Linda so it’s fine

(I know I also kept all the other people who are related the same species but shh its fine)

Isabella

She just gives off hummingbird vibes guys

Plus hummingbirds can be pink

Not much to say here I do like how she turned out though!

Baljeet

I wasn’t sure what to do so I defaulted to duck

again not much to say here

When I make HDLW/others eventually interact I’ve decided Huey meats the group first!

You should KNOW Doof isn't against name changes for the sake of branding

So I just drew Atmoz Fear

They even say in the wiki for Atmoz Fear that he looks like Doofenshmirtz

So it’s fine I can be lazy

Plus could I really think of a better design than him? No, no I could not.

OK. I had this idea for a whole year and I wish to tell you.

But at the end of my Steven Universe - Digimon combo. The last arc, will be a massive crossover between the 6 cartoons I’m doing for the Digimon AU. I mean: Steven Universe + Phineas And Ferb + Milo Murphy’s Law + Gravity Falls + Star Vs. The Forces Of Evil + Ducktales (2017).

The Forces Of Evil, Ducktales (2017) and Steven Universe. Also, remember, that I wish all characters bond between them, so, this could be quite long.

Things I see happening in this crossover:

Mabel and Milo being sweater buddies.

I don’t know why I keep imagining Zack and Star bonding a lot.

Obviously Mabel, Steven and Star bonding together can’t be missed.

I think it’s obvious that Dipper, Connie and Marco’s interactions can’t be missed too.

Mabel wanting to sing karaoke with Zack.

Mabel having a crush on Zack after discovering his past with the Lumberzacks.

Melissa and Jackie bonding a lot.

Melissa and Janna, because why not?

Why I have images of Webby and Melissa being best buddies?

Imagine Webby and Jackie together!

Phineas, Ferb and Peridot building things together!

Peridot angry at Milo for destroying her things.

It’s obvious that Ford and Peridot will bond.

Cavendish and Peridot bonding and being adorable.

Dakota and Lapis bonding.

It’s strange imaging Dakota and Cavendish becoming also in the “uncles” of Dipper and Mabel too?

What if Dakota and Cavendish also become into Soos’ “uncles” too?

At this rythm Dakota and Cavendish will become the uncles of everyone.

Orton also becomes the uncle of everyone.

Why I also imagine Zack and Lapis bonding?

How do you imagine a friendship between Melissa and Wendy?

Stan and Buford bonding. I wonder what could happen?

Baljeet and Ford bonding and Ford giving him some tips about stressing in school.

It’s strange imagining Stan teaching Connie to fight.

Dipper and Dewey being buddies.

Stan and Star bonding and also singing. Why I see this coming?

Stan and Dr. Doofenshmirtz discovering they’re kindred spirits and opening enough to talk each to each other and talking about how their respective dads disowned them, they feel the shadow of their respective brothers, Amethyst comes and also talks with them. Imagine Ford overhearing this and feeling bad for them.

Orton and Ford geeking out for weird things and also showing the drawings they made of everything it called the attention to them. Orton taking ideas for Dr. Zone Files.

Dakota and Stan bonding, they open enough to mention how they always do everything for Cavendish and Ford and at what leghts. Also, teaching each other boxing skills.

Cavendish and Ford bonding. They talk about how their partner and brother are in personallity and how they will do anything to prove they’re the best partners.

Milo adpoting Grunkle Stan and Grunkle Ford as his new uncles, they prefer being called “grunkles”.

Milo and Stan bonding a lot. Milo feeling confortable about Stan not critizing his Murphy’s Law. Stan giving support to Milo, like he did with Ford when they were kids. Also, I imagine them bonding with Dr. Zone and Ducktective.

Milo and Ford bonding a lot. Ford also finds kindred spirits with him, because he also has a defect (six fingers) and supporting him.

Yeah, Stan and Ford become the “grunkle” of everybody here.

Donald and Stan sharing their pains of losing their respective twins.

How do you imagine Donald and Lapis bonding?

How do you imagine Connie and Webby bonding?

How do you imagine Marco and Stan bonding?

Why I can see Ford having a rivality with Dr. Doofenshmirtz? At the beginning they didn’t get along. I can see Ford not approving some of Doofenshmirtz shenanigans, but eventually their friendship evolves and Ford becomes supportive of Doofenshmitz, saying how he reminds his twin and he becomes a brotherly figure for him.

Doofenshmirtz and Peridot bonding, because why not?

How do you imagine Phineas and Ferb bonding with Bismuth?

The evolutions sequences are upgraded to fit Steven Universe’s Universe.

Continuity:

I haven’t started the AU of each one, because I’m still working in some aspects. But I swear I’ll start when I have uploaded most of the concepts.

Phineas And Ferb:

Doofenshmirtz turned good and still trying to be a good person.

Story:

The first scene that happens is: Steven, Connie, Garnet and Amethyst are aided by Grunkle Stan, DORUmon, Dakota and RustTyranomon. Dakota’s RustTyranomon dissuades an attack. So, Stan decides to punch the monster’s face and he and DORUmon jump and do a Matrix Evolution to Alphamon, knocking the monster. Connie, Amethyst and Steven are impressed, Doofenshmirtz, Janna and Louie along BlackAgumon, BlackTailmon and Terriermon think that Stan did not a bad job, but they think they can do better, so they make their partners evolve into Lilthmon and SaintGalgomon betting they can beat Stan. Stan gives Steven, Amethyst, Connie and Garnet some tips. I want that in this part Steven’s Partner (who is the lion) receives a newfound power.

In another part Peridot, Pearl and Bismuth have troubles with some Digimons and Ford appears doing an epic appearance, like the ones he makes and ask Cavendish what does he thinks. Monogram is impressed, Cav’s Wormmon considers his entrance was somewhat reckless, Ryudamon says that’s what he’s always telling Ford, Jackie thinks Ford’s entrance was cool and Huey also thinks that and asks Guilmon, he thinks the same, when they aid Pearl, Peridot and Bismuth, they ask them, who are they and they show their Digivices. Ford due his experience in other universers warns that this could only be the beginning of something.

It’s some chapters later to Steven and Connie meet: Dipper, Mabel, Star, Marco, Milo, Huey, Dewey, Louie and Phineas and Ferb.
