I am once again being haunted by "a paradox" holy fuck Olivia what the fuck is going on here what did you get yourself involved with and what did you do after it speak to me Olivia I can't keep living like this
#rat rambles#oni posting#the second half fills you with the horrors so you forget that the log opened up with that b111-1 bomb#for the record a paradox is one of my favorite lore logs of all of them because its the log that made me go Oh Shit and go reread all the#olivia logs I initially only skimmed through and begun the olivia brain takeover#the second part rewired my brain irreversably like its so fucked I love it#in particular one thing that makes me so fucking glad that the old olivia jackie logs were scrapped is that originally jackie was the one#who printing pod ified olivia to save her from the end of the world or smth#but the change to make it self inflicted? fucking amazing ten million times better and more interesting#especially because it implies she did it on purpose!#which opens up so many doors and I fucking Love it#because the teleportation technology was what she knew of as a method of doing this but either A shed have to have kept using teleporters#anyways and either just count on her not dying or counting On her dying#or shed have to know the link between it and the neural vaculators#which is very possible considering Stuff™ but does raise the question of how she used it#now the boring answer is that her brain map was already taken from the neural vaculator tests but god. that answer is boring.#the most interesting possibility to me personally is that she could have well. tinkered a bit with existing technology.#unlikely? maybe. fun to explore for my purposes? yep.#also I need the peace of knowing that jackie never got the satisfaction of knowing what happened with olivia's dissapearance#or if she did only after the fact#I need this to have been completely out of jackie's viewpoint at the top and I need it to fuck with her and shatter her worldview#I need to see the desperation and paranoia of a woman who is realizing that she has lost control over her technology#I need to see her try to cling onto her past ambitions and sense of control while falling apart at the seams#and I need olivia to have never thought jackie would give a shit until all else but her is dead and gone#do you see my vision do you see it do you see how much more fun it is if it was extremely deliberate instead of only lightly so

In My Veins (Ethan Ramsey X MC)
The final chapter of Already Gone series is here! Thank you for everyone who decided to give the series a shot, thank you for all your likes and comments and reblogs! I have two one shot sequels planned already and then bunch of random one shots abour Ethan and Chiara, which might ot might not correspond with Already Gone storyline - but that’s not relevant now. Enjoy the chapter!
I honestly think this can be easily read even without reading previous chapters.
Words count: 3 800
Warnings: slightest hint of angst, but mostly this is just fluff
——– IN MY VEINS ——
Chiara’s day has been downright frustrating so far. She was dealing with two patients – one of them being an absolute pain in the ass and the other, on the other hand, sweet fourteen years old which she had troubles diagnosing – and besides that, Ethan has been to New York for three days and she missed his reassuring smiles while walking down the corridors.
Just get through today and you’ll be fine. He will be back by the evening and you will see him tomorrow morning.
She was tired and angry with the PITA and also angry with herself for not being able to diagnose Leah.
All of those draining emotions and thoughts made her curse under her breath when she was paged by the nurses’ station, which didn’t go unnoticed by Sienna and Jackie which were walking by at the moment.
“Uh-oh, Dr. Ray, such nasty word coming from such pretty mouth?”
“Shut up Sienna or she will find a brand new nasty word for you” Jackie stopped her, grinning. “What made you so irritated, Chiara?”
Chiara sighed, pinching the bridge of her nose as she kept walking to the nurses’ station.
“The day has literally just began and I already feel like punching something. Or someone.”
“You resemble Ramsey too much Chiara,” Jackie chuckled. “You are even grumpier than Zaid today.”
At that, Chiara had to laugh and as she finally approached the station, she felt at least a little bit lighter.
“I’ve been paged,” she said to Danny, noticing that the station was unusually full this morning, crowded with fellow resident, interns and even few attendings.
“Yeah, this came for you. The courier just dropped it off,” he smiled as he reached for a bouquet behind the counter.
Chiara’s mouth fell wide open at the sigh of huge bouquet full of sunflowers. The air was filled with ‘oooh’s’ and ‘wooow’s’ coming from mouths of women around Chiara and there was also one ‘hmm someone’s getting laid tonight’ coming from a surgeon resident Chiara didn’t really know.
“What does the note say?” Sienna couldn’t help but ask curiously, glancing over Chiara’s shoulder.
Cheeks flushed in bright red color, Chiara opened the note with the trembling hands.
‘Vincent Van Gogh once said that he finds comfort in contemplating the sunflowers. I find comfort in contemplating you’ -J
She smiled to herself, knowing very well who the flowers came from – there was only one person knowing about her obsession with Van Gogh, just as there was only one person to sign the note with ‘J’.
Her spirits were immediately lifted, however the hot blush on her cheeks and her neck didn’t seem to be disappearing.
“Do you know who sent them?” Stephanie asked from behind the desk.
“Chiara you never told us you had a boyfriend!” Danny exclaimed brightly.
“Right, Chiara, you never told us! Who could that be?” Jackie grinned, making Chiara blush even deeper, if that was even possible.
She kept staring down at the flowers in her hands, trying to neglect the excited whispers suddenly surrounding her.
How was the whole nurses’ station talking about her secret boyfriend all at once?
“What is going on in here?” The deep voice she knew so well cut through the vibrant buzz.
Chiara’s head snapped to the direction of the voice and it took her all her acting abilities to pretend to be simply surprised and nothing else. Not happy, not excited, just surprised.
Like a deer in a spotlight, she froze on the spot and with wide eyes kept searching the familiar and oh so handsome face she missed so much.
His blue eyes found her face in the middle of the crowd and for the moment so brief she almost missed it, his stare softened the way it always did just for her and there was the tiniest hint of radiant sparks she adored so much. Before anyone else could notice the affectionate exchange of their stares, Ethan’s gaze hardened and he cleared his throat.
“Dr. Ramsey! We didn’t expect to see you until tomorrow,” Stephanie smiled brightly at him.
“My job in New York was done earlier than expected,” he shrugged, oblivious to Stephanie’s attempt of flirting. “I asked what is going on in here?”
“Dr. Ray got this splendid bouquet from a secret admirer,” Sienna smiled all too knowingly at Ethan, which – far better at acting than Chiara – simply raised an eyebrow.
“Congratulations,” he replied dryly. “However the last time I checked this was a hospital, not a high-school corridor. Now quit the gossiping and get back to work.”
Chiara noticed some doctors to roll their eyes and heard one of the nurses to whisper: “And everything is back to normal now.”
She chuckled and turned around to put the flowers into the locker room, entirely aware of the fact that she would be paged into the diagnostics office within the next few minutes.
˜
“You have really outdone yourself with the grand arrival, Dr. Ramsey,” Chiara grinned as she stepped into his office and made sure that they were alone. “How much calculating needed to be done in spite of pulling this trick?”
“Believe it or not, Rookie, it was an absolute coincidence. I have had the flowers delivery arranged even before I left to New York and I didn’t think that I would be able to come back earlier until this morning. But it indeed worked out to my satisfaction,” he laughed softly, standing up from the chair behind this desk. Quickly checking the corridor behind the glass door, he wrapped Chiara in his arms and lightly kissed the top of her head.
“Thank you for the flowers. I would never believe that you are such a romantic soul.”
As they found their way to the grey couch in the corner of the room, Ethan replied with his brows furrowed: “I prefer ‘gentleman’ over ‘romantic soul’, but whatever serves you is okay by me, I suppose.”
“Gentleman, huh?”
“Ever since I was a little kid, my father was very insisting on raising me into polite gentleman. Saying thank you, please, greeting others, that was necessary part of my childhood. And then when I got older, he has taught me everything about being a true gentleman – opening the door, kissing the back of woman’s hand when she introduced herself, bringing flowers, all those things were a natural part of growing up for me.”
“You never kissed the back of my hand when I introduced myself.”
“First, your hands were covered in blood when we introduced ourselves, if I remember it correctly. And second, I don’t do those things anymore. After several experiences when my gentleman behavior has been misread as flirting, I stopped performing it. Unless I am interested in actual flirting with the woman, of course.”
“So you are saying that you want to flirt with me?” Chiara asked with a teasing smirk on her face.
Amused, Ethan simply shook his head and as he was about to ask her if she would like some coffee, her pager’s loud beep broke the comfortable silence surrounding them.
“Oh, Leah’s results. I’ll go pick them up and I’ll be right back, I might need your opinion on this case.”
Without a second glance, she left the room. Ethan stretched his legs and rubbed his tired eyes, cursing himself for going to the hospital straight from the airport when he could be sleeping in his bed now.
But again, Chiara was at the hospital, so how could he be anywhere else?
She brought him much more comfort than his bed could ever provide, anyway.
Not wanting to waste his time, he got back to the chair and started to catch up with all the paperwork that has been loyally waiting on the desk for his return.
He got so consumed by the work that he hardly noticed Chiara’s arrival, if it wasn’t for her furious murmuring as she flipped through the pages of her patient’s file.
“There must be something missing… white cells normal… what am I not seeing… negative, negative, negative, urgh, FUCK ME!” she threw her head back as she all but shouted those last two words.
“Happily,” Ethan replied without missing a beat, now even glancing up from his paperwork. “Although I am afraid that now and here is not the right time nor the place.”
“Seriously, Ramsey?” she turned to him, fire burning in her eyes, her cheeks flushed – was it flush of frustration or the one of lust? “Now you are joking?”
“I am sorry but passing such opportunity would be a sin,” he grinned at her and waved at the file in her hand, gesturing for her to come closer. “Show me what got you so heated.”
˜
Several days later, Chiara and Ethan were walking by the river, enjoying one of those few precious moments when they have both had their day off.
The April weather has been rather nice this year, however the water in the Charles River was still so cold that Ethan couldn’t help but mutter “those crazy idiots” every time he noticed someone in it.
Finding the spot where they could talk hidden from the curious eyes of others, they sat down and for a long moment stared at the sparkles the sun was creating at the water surface.
“I am happy, Chiara. I am happy with you,” Ethan broke the silence and wrapped his arm around Chiara’s waist, pulling her closer to him.
She nodded and smiled gently at his words without saying anything, knowing that Ethan didn’t expect her to say it back.
From time to time, he felt the urge to express how he felt at the moment and all Chiara needed to do was to listen and acknowledge his feelings. He already knew she was happy with him, because unlike him, Chiara has never had problems with expressing how she felt.
After long minutes spent in comfortable, peaceful, pleasant silence, Chiara stood up and grabbing her purse, she said: “I noticed the truck serving coffee just around here, I’ll grab us some, okay?”
“Sure. I’ll be right here.”
As he promised, Ethan didn’t even move from the place they found, waiting for Chiara to return.
However, after more than forty minutes, he became rather worried about her. It was only after he heard the sirens when he grabbed everything from the ground and decided to find her, his steps quicker than they would normally be.
The ambulance was parked near the river and he noticed paramedics examining a little boy, his mother crying next to him. And behind them, Chiara sitting in the ambulance, wrapped in the blanket.
With his breath quicker, his vision blurred and hands trembling, he ran those last few meters.
“What the fuck, Rookie?” he called as he approached her. “What happened?”
“I was about to order when I heard a woman’s scream and when I turned around, I noticed a little kid in the river,” she explained, her lower lip trembling from the cold. “I jumped into the water and pulled him out.”
“Are you crazy? You could’ve drown!”
As she opened her mouth to fight him, he was sure, the paramedic interrupted them, checking Chiara’s pressure again.
“It seems to be okay, miss, but we should still take you to the hospital. Just to be sure you will be completely okay.”
“I said I am fine, thank you. Just focus on the boy.”
“We really should take you.”
“I am a doctor at Edenbrook,” Ethan stepped in. “I will take her there and examine her.”
“I am sorry but who are you, sir? Do you know him, Ms. Ray?”
“Yeah, he is my…uh…well, we are-“
“I am her boyfriend and I am taking her to Edenbrook now. Just take care of the kid,” Ethan said with the tone that left no room for further discussion.
He grabbed Chiara’s hand, not caring about anyone seeing them and pulled her towards his building, thankful that it was so close to the park. Without giving her a chance to tell or do anything, he went straight to the parking garage of the building and into his car.
“You could’ve just checked me at your place,” Chiara shrugged as Ethan switched the engine on.
“I’ll examine you at the hospital,” Ethan replied without as much as glancing at her, his voice cold as ice.
“My boyfriend, yeah?” she smiled, hoping that it would break the tension between them.
“It’s not the right time for teasing, Chiara. What were you even thinking? You could’ve both died!”
“But we didn’t. I can swim, Ethan, I really can. Someone had to help the poor kid.”
“Yes, exactly, someone! Not you. Anyone else could have done that.”
Chiara sighed, wrapping herself tighter into the blanket, the wet, cold clothes causing her to shiver.
Ethan wanted to yell at her, to continue his monologue about how dangerous that was and irresponsible and that there was no need to pull such Aveiro stunts, but noticing how much she kept shivering, all he brought himself to do was switch the heating on.
As they parked outside the hospital, he asked: “Do you have some spare clothes in the locker?”
Chiara nodded, already getting out of the car and he told her to come to his office once she is in dry and warm clothes.
Ethan was pacing through his office when she entered, trying to scatter his anger and fear by some physical activity, which proved to be absolutely worthless when he glanced at her and saw the stubborn expression on her face.
“You acted absolutely recklessly, Chiara.”
“I couldn’t let the four year old kid drown.”
“There were other people!”
“Well, nobody else jumped into the water, so I guess it had to be me. I am absolutely fine, Ethan. This is unnecessary.”
“I will be the one to evaluate if you are or are not fine.”
Letting his emotions go for a while, so that he could do his job, he once again checked Chiara’s pressure, listened to her breathing, measured her temperature and only after he made sure that she, indeed, was absolutely fine, he let out a long breath of relief.
“You will stay at my place tonight, in case something goes wrong. I need to check on you.”
“I would stay with you tonight anyway, Dr. Ramsey. No need to cause such drama for something as stupid as me getting into the cold water.”
“Damnit Chiara,” he muttered but decided not to cause another scene at the hospital ground.
Without saying another word, they both left the office, not giving a damn about their colleagues that wondered why would they both be at work on their day off.
The car ride back to Ethan’s place was quiet and tense and so were the minutes that followed after they’ve gotten into the apartment.
Not wanting to ruin the rest of their day, Chiara approached Ethan – who has been pacing around his living room now – and said: “Okay, Ethan. I think you are overreacting, but still – I am sorry I got you worried today.”
“Worried? Worried? I was scared! When I saw you in the ambulance, I was scared to death, Chiara!”
His voice was raising, which only sparked more flames in Chiara’s eyes. She didn’t want to fight with him, but she would not let anyone shout at her, not even Ethan Ramsey.
“Okay, you really need to calm down-“
“No. No, no, no,” he interrupted her, his voice rising once again. “You don’t get to tell me to calm down, Chiara. Because it was not me in a car accident, it was you. It was not me lying on the operating table, it was you. But it was me who stared at the door to the O.R. for hours and hours, waiting for Emery to come out and tell me that you are dead. It was me who spent 40 hours sitting next to you after the surgery, afraid of closing my eyes for even a second because I believed that you would die and I would have my eyes closed at the moment! It was me who held your hand while you were in come, not the other way around. I was the one calling your mother to tell her that she should fly to Boston because you might not survive this, not you calling my father. You were never close to losing me, Chiara, you have no idea how it feels to look at your motionless body, at your closed eyes and believing that I would never see you moving again! So no, I am sorry but it’s not your place to tell me to calm down, Chiara Ray, because every time you don’t pick up your phone for a longer while, every time you leave the town with your friends, every time you attend a party or a concert now, every single time my chest literally hurts of fear. I am so fucking scared every time we are not together, because when we are not together, I can’t save you and I wouldn’t get through losing you.”
He took a deep breath, trying to calm himself down like Chiara asked him to, but the lump in his throat was too big and the anger mixed with dread made him shout even more.
"I can’t lose you, Chiara, don’t you fucking get it? I can’t live this life without you in it, because I care about you, because I need you, because goddamnit I love you and-“
He stopped abruptly, realizing what he had just said.
The silence that filled the room was heavier than all the shouts before.
Chiara and Ethan stared at each other, their eyes wide, expression shocked, Ethan’s hands trembling by his sides.
“What has just happened?” Chiara whispered at last.
“I don’t… I mean, I never… That was absolutely unintentional,” Ethan breathed out at last.
He fell on the couch behind him and with grave feeling in her chest, Chiara followed and sat down next to him.
“So you didn’t mean it? What you said?”
Ethan’s shocked expression turned into something more than just shock at that question, something resembling guilt and pain.
“No. I mean, yes, I did mean it. But meaning it and expressing it – no, saying it – are two absolutely different things.”
Chiara softly reached for his hand and a wave of relief washed over her when he interlaced their fingers together and squeezed her hand back.
“Do you remember the last time you said those words?” she asked quietly.
“I do. Very well, actually,” he let out a humorless laugh and to Chiara’s surprise decided to tell her.
“One day, I was eleven, I came home from school and my mother was home, which was surprising because usually she would come home in the evening. She hugged me as I stepped in and asked me if I needed any help with my homework. The truth was that I never really needed their help with homework, but if there is one thing I have to admit about my mother, it was the fact that she was – maybe still is – an algebra genius. Real genius, I mean. And ever since I can remember, I have always loved to watch her talk about it or explain something to me, because it would bring those beautiful sparkles into her eyes. You know, those that people only have when they talk about their deepest passions. And so I told her that I actually did need help with algebra and for the next hour, I would just observe her eyes, because they were so full of light. And after we were done with it, she asked me if I would like an ice cream and I was so happy to spend some time with her that I agreed, even though I never really liked ice cream. So we went to get the ice cream and she would tell me all the algebra jokes and we would laugh so hard the tears kept streaming down our faces. On our walk back home, I told her ‘I love you so much, mum’ and she said ‘and I love you, my little E.J., more than you could ever imagine’.”
He tried to subtly hide his face, but Chiara noticed the tears streaming down his cheeks and with all the gentleness she could find, she wiped them away.
Ethan cleared his throat to finish the story.
“The next day, she left us. And for months, maybe even years after that, I kept asking myself if she decided to spend all that time with me because she knew that she would leave us? Or maybe she wanted to spend some time with me to help herself decide if she wanted to stay with us or leave – and it that case, what should I have done better to make her believe that she wanted to stay? Or was the ‘I love you’ too much for her to hear and it scared her so much that she’d rather leave? I never found the answers. But I swore to myself back then that I would never say those words again.”
“And you never did? To anyone? Your dad, Naveen, anyone?” Chiara whispered.
Ethan simply shook his head and pulled her into his lap, wrapping his arms around her more tightly than he ever did.
“Please, tell me you won’t leave me tomorrow, Chiara,” he whispered into her hair.
“I promise I won’t leave you, Ethan.”
They hugged each other, letting their tears stream down their faces, Ethan’s into Chiara’s hair and Chiara’s into Ethan’s shirt.
At the moment, their hearts were shattered and at the same time, they were being healed.
“So you do?” Chiara asked with a light smile after a while. “You know, uhm…you do the L word me?”
“I do love you, Chiara, yes,” he chuckled at her uncertainty of using the word love. “And you? Do you ‘the L word’ me?”
“Of course I love you. I have already told you once.”
He kissed her at those words, pouring all his broken and freshly healed heart into the kiss, brushing her lips with his with such care, such softness it made her feel like if it was the first time they kissed.
“But you don’t get to scare me like this anymore, Rookie. I could’ve gone into cardiac arrest,” he said as they parted.
“You are not that old.”
“Young people can go into cardiac arrests too and I am sure that as a doctor, you know that. Promise me you won’t do anything this stupid.”
“I can promise you to try to avoid such situations, but nothing more,” she shrugged. “However, I can also promise you that you can punish me anyhow you want if I do something stupid,” she added, devilish smirk on her face.
Ethan’s eyes darkened immediately and his breath hitched in his throat before muttering into her ear: “Oh, is that so? Maybe I should start right now then.”

The Messy Route
Dom’s OH playthrough where we use Ethan to get the diagnostics job, are FWB with Bryce and trying to romance Raf. MC is Dr. Love Lao.
Tumblr media
Ch. 1
Book 1, Ch 2
OH SHIT ANNIE IS CODING AND LIL LOVE LAO AINT PREPARED FOR THIS
ALMIGHTY HEROES BLESS U FOR SENDING JACKIE TO HER IN HER TIME OF EXTREME NEED.
Tumblr media
SHIT
So much for the plan.
Sienna Trinh. Goddess of all things good in the world. We’re friends now. She doesn’t have a choice - Love nor Sienna. These girls are ride or die!!!
Asshat’s words get under Love’s skin and she is REELING. Being a doctor is all she’s ever wanted and on her first case she almost killed someone. Maybe everything she thought was wrong?? (Can you hear an identity crisis in the distance because I sure can)
Loves not a quitter. Never has been, never will be. Could the angry words of the one renowned attending she idolized change her?
Definitely not.
Girl just needs a mental break. Oh look there’s a supply closet!
Breathing in and out and trying to wrangle in the crushing feel of failure, she doesn’t get two minutes alone before the door swings open.
It’s the annoyingly attractive surgeon with the now-faltering smile and warm glow.
“Get in or get out Bryce. Just shut the door” ouchhhh she snapped at him and his smile completely disappeared
He joined her in the cramped space.
All signature cockiness left when he asked in his delicate and concerned honey-like cadence “what’s wrong”. She told him and he was a pretty good listener, all things considered.
Tumblr media
(She says that now but little does she know that is EXACTLY what she about to do the next two years 🎉)
Honestly it’s a shock that this dude has a heart and a pretty decent outlook on life. He’s oddly good at pep talks. Judging by his physique he wasn’t on cheer squad but dayummm
His hugs were soft and warm and peaceful as he pulled her against his toned chest. His arms strong and safe. Love could certainly do this again. Minus the whole closet breakdown thing.
She really wants to not like the guy. But
There’s just something about Bryce Lahela 🤔
And she wondered what his other talents include 😏
As he’s looking down at her with that sweet lopsided smile asking if this is all a ploy to get him alone she has a strong urge to stand on her toes and kiss his pretty lips.
But she pushes the urge aside with a chuckle. Time and place babes. This ain’t it. Also he’s a colleague. And they just met. And they’re in a supply closet. Not really a good first impression for all parties 👀
She gets a bit of flush on her pale cheeks when he departs with a wink. Leaving her alone to collect herself from her mini breakdown.
((I hc that with all Mrs Martinez’s free time and boredom she’s just doing squats in her room and has a very toned ass for an old person and just wants to show off. If she can’t lay naked in Cannes she’ll get the thrill of the breeze through her gown and the satisfaction of knowing she pulled someone out of their comfort zone for a minute or two))
Asking the nurses to page dr grumpmunch to meet her in Annie’s room was the most satisfying and gratifying feeling. Eat shit mothafuckerrr
He doesn’t have the common decency to come into the room? Or talk to the patient? Just lean against the doorframe like a limp ass tree ??? Absolutely ridiculous and callous behavior for a grown ass man.
She’s SO pleased with herself as she follows Ethan out of the room.
Which lasts about 2 seconds until asshat checks his watch and hands her a prescription.
Love FLIPS. She does not need his charity or opportunity and just wants her patients treated with the best care. Having Annie wait another hour was precious time wasted. Wtf was he thinking???
Ugh
Dr. Ramsey made a good point about growth and crap. But she’s too riled up to apologize or even listen. She just scowls and goes to walk away
BUT THEN she stops when Aurora finally turns up all pissy.
And Ethan’s kinda hot when his anger isn’t directed at her. Woah nelly, reign in the heart eyes he’s a total prick.
Though power is an aphrodisiac 👀
Tumblr media
(Why am I just now noticing he calls himself a badger???)
Tumblr media
(gosh she’s so pretty. And yet she’s going to let Mitch get away with treating her like garbage??? Oh pb and their inconsistencies 😔)
The surgeon looks good shirtless. His arms look amazing in his scrubs and the green really compliments his complexion. In his everyday clothes he looks... like and Ivy League douche. But those bracelets accompanying his watch are doing things to her.
Everything about Bryce Lahela is off putting and exciting.
So she joins him and his surgical buddies for a game of darts, wagering a kiss. They’re not at work no’mo might as well see if he lives up to all the talk 😏
He doesn’t play fair. His hot breath tickling the shell of her ear. Taunting that “medical interns can’t handle the heat”.
Oh she can handle the heat alright. But maybe there’s more value in losing this bet?
Tumblr media
Love’s counting on it
But she’s also not gotta let him off that easily. She does the same but lets her lips graze his ear. And, well...
That stupid victory dance was a reward in itself.
She licks her lips and grabs his outstretched hand.
For a second time that day she’s pressed up against him with his strong arms wrapped around her. He tastes like malt and mint and sugar... Did he snag some cookies somewhere??
And then his lips trail away from hers and down her jaw and up to her ear and she’s molded into him and holding onto his biceps tightly in a state of pure bliss at this point. It’s going to be a good year.
The surgeons call rounds for another game and Love taps out on that. She observed her friends all around the bar and found one pair of eyes swiftly averting from her.
So she makes her way over to him.
She eyed the empty glass in front of him and scoffed to herself. Scotch. It was her drink of choice in undergrad - she thought it would give her an enigmatic edge over her peers, instead of drinking beers like everyone and their older brother.
For the first time in the 15 hours she’s known asshat he shoots her a small smile of approval. Bingo.
She scoffs audibly this time when he thinks she’s bribing him. He’s not completely wrong but she won’t give him the satisfaction.
So she gives him a wry smile and says some garbage about a thank you for making her better.
He orders two specials and up this close she notices how devastatingly handsome Dr. Ramsey. Devastating because those looks are wasted on his garbage personality.
Of course the drink he orders is delicious and she refuses to admit it. Dr. Ramsey sees right through her bluff and Love kinda appreciates it. She’s learning she can’t trick him and that’s valuable insight to file away for later.
Tumblr media
She’ll be blowing you, Ramsbo, darling.
(I’ve also never paid attention to Landry before... but now I’m starting to think he has a crush on MC and oh my god this route just got a lot more fun) ((but then again asking mc to teach ramsey his name is throwing me off))

Well hello now then 😋
So to introduce myself I'm a youngish if 29 is young probably not depending how in touch or hip I am 🤣.
So the Easy bit , me myself and my shadow are a unique , creative , motivated individual . I like all things custom , out there and maybe not even out there. My head See's things before during and after , so I'm the overdrive King , get an idea , expect me to fixate on it tear it down to it's Core and then process it enough to become feasible or a reality .
My life for the Past few year is a rectifier , who would of thought , I fix broken things , trouble shoot fundimental issues , and process errors .
I love making things and creating things and love achieving something , even if only small achievement gives me great satisfaction and pleasure .
Being tall , body conscious and a little bit quirky , building friendships and social activities isn't really my go to thing , I would much rather grab a tool and create then go out , it's just where my head's at.
So My CV 6 years old ish developed a massive appreciation for cars bikes and speed , suffice to say today no difference , age 8 I got into knex Lego , mechano and 🦆🌊 yeah that's me . Everyday make something new , mini rollercoaster , Jeep's , trucks , helicopter gravity propulsion, you name it I've tried.
Move on to my teens and my grandfather a chippy ( carpenter ) he taught me some bits and bob's and also taught me about Hobby model making as he was a plane and boat enthusiast. And was in my opinion the best .
Also around this time I did kart racing dreaming of being the next Senna or Jackie Stewart , but unfortunately not everything works out and 🥀👓 don't last .
Anyway I love design and technology and later went to college , still wanting to be in motorsport or some form of enterprise , I learnt vehicle maintenance , more prosiced body shell and component repair , welding panels making things from sheet steel replacing damaged components and feature lines and more in-depth studies of accident analysis involving measurements and pulling tool's , very interesting , very fun and for me a passion , I then started working and pretty much focused on adult things , trying to save money and get into a significant amount of debt and get my own house and maybe create a few items on the way or build a property .( Long story short still trying to smash down barriers )
So little bit about that brings me to why I'm starting this blog thing , so being creative , inotive and Technical is actually a longer process then you might think , few reasons
1. Planing , plan and more planning
2. Timing it's everything ,
3. People , not everyone is understanding in the circle or trust Worthy
4.money saving , spending , making
5. Commitment , no mater what sticking to goals , meeting , not forgetting
6. Discipline , only you can make things happen and what you choose is how it ends to 90% Murphy and sod are always lurking .
So that me and my view and my reasoning , then there's the why ? How ! And what !
It's nice to have nice things , it's nice to have equity but for what reason rich 🤑 isn't 6 houses 2 corporation a boat and every supercar on the planet .
Rich is the family you make , the people you can relate , relie on and help and it's given back . Rich is knowing you have had or made a positive impact on your surroundings be that friends family or environment.
Money is nothing more then a leverage tool , it helps but it requires knowledge to get what you really want and to make it work and make it work well .
Anyway back to the blog so after time in the shadows and delvulging into threads , social media , conversation , life , I've decided to go back to creating and inovating , and I'm going to share some projects with you , tips and tricks and try help inspire you into making your own thing or appreciating something you might buy similar , and improve your understanding and knowledge of what a Creator goes through the hurdles the barrier's and all the things the finished article will never show so Peace out , I'll holla back soon and if you like what you read see or need advice then follow comment message . Over and out bless

auggie & esther (OC screenplay) Part 1
Tumblr media
*GIF BY @tana-the-dreamchaser *
Summary: Auggie’s life turns around when a baby is dropped off at his doorstep.
Category: OC screenplay
Couple: Auggie (Masc!) x Esther (FilipinoFem!)
Content Warning: Profanity, mentions of alcohol, reference to pregnancy
A/N: I wrote this screenplay months ago during the summer with the intentions of Auggie being portrayed by MGG, but you can depict Auggie however you’d like.
I wanted to post pictures of my screenplay so that you could read it in the way it’s intended to be read, but Tumblr only allows for 10 pictures to be posted at a time, so I had to format the screenplay differently than how a screenplay should be formatted so that you could read it more clearly here on Tumblr.
Note:
Where there is simultaneous or quick dialogue in the script, there is a SLASH “/” in the middle of the speaker's dialogue, representing where the next actor should begin. The following actor's line will be started with a SLASH “/” to indicate that it is interrupting another line.
Brackets “[ ]” around words represent the english translation for the Tagalog words that were previously spoken.

INT. AUGGIE’S APARTMENT - LATE SUMMERTIME
The birds are chirping. The sun is out. It’s practically a perfect morning, but AUGGIE, our protagonist, is clearly miserable nonetheless. The twenty something, disheveled mess nurses a beer while staring into nothingness.
A knock on the door snaps Auggie out of his trance. He sets down his beer on the coffee table and groans as he exerts effort to get up. The mirror that’s placed right next to the front door reveals his appearance to himself. Even he’s shocked by how gross he looks. The bags under his eyes are heavy and dark, his bed head mixed with his scruff is remarkably unattractive, and his eclectic robe isn’t even tied properly enough to hide his childish superhero boxers. He’s utterly disgusted by himself.
With what little dignity he has left, he opens the door. Thankfully, but also strangely, no one’s there. He peers out further into the hallway and towards the elevator landing, but still nothing.
That is until he looks down.
A newborn baby sleeps peacefully inside its infant car seat. Auggie’s eyes enlarge.
AUGGIE:  What . . . the . . . fuck.
INT. AUGGIE'S APARTMENT - LATE MORNING
TOBIN, Auggie’s roommate, and Auggie are huddled around the child, peering down in awe. The baby is like an exhibition in a museum. While Auggie and Tobin are onlookers.
TOBIN: Don’t worry, dude. I’m sure it’s not yours. Someone probably left it here on accident.
AUGGIE: (in denial) Yeah, yeah, I bet this happens all the time.
Suddenly, a voice from behind them speaks. It’s RENE, the final branch of the triad that is their friend group. In his hand, he holds a folded sheet of notebook paper.
RENE: Someone leaving their child on accident with a relinquishment deed and a note saying specifically it’s Auggie’s? (cackles at their stupidity) Yeah, okay sureee. Just listen to this. (reading the note aloud, imitating a valley girl’s voice poorly) Dear August, I thought I could handle being a mom, but now I realize she’s better off in your care.
Both Auggie and Tobin tilt their heads as they look at the baby closer, as if to say, “Huh, I guess it is a girl.” To be fair, the baby’s dressed in unisex clothing, so it’s hard to tell.
RENE (CONT’D): (continuing to read letter) I’m sorry to spring this on you, but I’ve decided to relinquish my rights in case you want someone to adopt her. Otherwise, I grant you full custody, because of that, I thought that you should be the one to name her. I wish you both well. Take care, Jackie.
AUGGIE AND TOBIN: (gasp and look at each other) Jackie?!
RENE: Damn! She broke your heart and had your kid.
Auggie’s mind swirls. He collapses onto the couch, but this only puts him closer to the baby. Seeing her up close and being able to distinguish his own features in her freaks him out and he spirals a little more.
AUGGIE: GOD, she doesn’t even have a name yet. FUCK! /Shit!
RENE: /You can’t cuss anymore.
RENE: What about Marlene? She was a fan of mine back in my drag queen days. Lovely girl. Miss her to death.
TOBIN: Marlene? Hell no, she looks more like a . . . Agatha. Yeah, Agatha. That’s perfect!
RENE: Agatha? Are you fucking serious?
Rene and Tobin continue to argue in the background, while Auggie is still fixated on the child.
AUGGIE: Wait, shut up. Shut up! I know what to do.
INT. PRIMROSE BOUTIQUE - EARLY AFTERNOON
Auggie, Tobin, and Rene wander around the Primrose Boutique - the store ESTHER works at. Esther is Auggie’s childhood best friend, and secretly, his first (unrequited) love. Tobin and Rene mess around in the store, while Auggie trails behind Esther and waits for the right moment. As the visual merchandiser of Primrose, she’s busy dressing a mannequin and later, she finishes cashing out a customer, until finally, Auggie sees his window of opportunity.
AUGGIE: Jeez, I didn’t realize I had to schedule an appointment to talk to you.
ESTHER: (curtly, stoic) Are you bleeding, burning, or on the verge of death?
AUGGIE: (uncertain) Uh . . . no?
ESTHER: Then can you come back in an hour? My shift will be over then.
Auggie lifts the baby carrier and sets it on the counter. Esther was so busy she didn’t even notice it earlier.
AUGGIE: Granted, neither one of us is burning or bleeding, but I’d consider this urgent.
Suddenly, Esther’s attention is undivided. She begins to unbuckle the baby and hold her - something Auggie has yet to do.
ESTHER : (to the baby, in a baby voice) Oh my goodness, aren’t you just the cutest little thing? Hi, princess.
Notably, the baby nibbles on the tip of Esther’s finger. This small connection is already far stronger than the one Auggie has with the baby, or rather the lack thereof.
AUGGIE: I got Three men and a Baby’d by Jackie this morning. Remember her? Guess it wasn’t enough to dump me on my birthday, so she decided to drop off an extra gift for good measure.
ESTHER: And you came to me why?
AUGGIE: I need your help.
Esther carefully places the baby back into the carseat.
ESTHER: Like I said, I still have an hour before my shift ends. I can’t help you right now.
Auggie groans in frustration.
ESTHER (CONT’D): In the meantime, you should probably go to a store. There’s a Target just a block away. I can meet you there when I’m done.
Auggie knits his brows together in confusion.
ESTHER (CONT'D): Unless, of course, along with that baby, Jackie left you clothes, a crib, food, a stroller, bottles -
Auggie throws his head back and sulks. It never dawned on him that he wasn’t properly equipped to take care of her.
Esther sees her exasperated friend and summons a coworker to cover for her. As Esther collects her things and prepares to leave early, a loud clutter erupts. All eyes turn to Tobin and Rene. They managed to knock down a jewelry display while walking mindlessly around the store, using sequin scarves as blindfolds. Esther shoots a deadpan stare at Auggie for the actions of his friends.
ESTHER (CONT'D): (facetiously) How can I ever repay you for bringing Dumb and Dumber into my life?
INT. TARGET - NOON
Tobin and Rene mess around with a breast-feeding system, which earns a judgmental side glance from the worker Auggie and Esther are speaking with.
STORE WORKER: (asking Esther) So, Mom, are we looking for a new breast pump? We have a portable -
ESTHER: (interrupting) Oh, no, no no. I’m not the mother, just helping out a friend.
The worker nods, pretending to understand.
STORE WORKER: (asking Auggie) Oh wondeful. So, Dad, is this little angel’s mommy breastfeeding?
AUGGIE: (bashfully) Actually - funny story. (beat) Um, have you heard of the movie “Three Men and a Baby?”
Esther hides her face under her hand in embarrassment. The store clerk nods slowly.
AUGGIE (CONT'D): Well that’s exactly what happened to me this morning. Yeah, I kinda just found her on my doormat. But um, the note didn’t really have information regarding (coughs) breasts, so yeah, I, I know virtually nothing.
STORE WORKER: (unsure of how to react) . . . Oh, congrats. I’ll get you guys a registry list. It has everything you need on it. (just politely asking) So does she have a name?
Auggie nervously laughs.
STORE WORKER: Sir, does she have a name?
AUGGIE: Yeah, yeah. It’s . . .
He panics and his eyes wander. He scans the entire baby section. His eyes land on an entire shelf of baby soap.
AUGGIE: (uncertain and quietly) . . . soap? Soap?
STORE WORKER: Sorry, I’m not sure if I heard you correctly. Did you say Soph?
AUGGIE: (blurting out) Yes YES, a nickname. Short for Sophie. (actually realizing he likes the name) Yeah, Sophie.
Auggie smiles down at the baby with satisfaction. SOPHIE is perfect for her.
INT. AUGGIE’S APARTMENT - LATER
While Esther changes Sophie’s diaper, Auggie, Rene, and Tobin watch from a comically far away distance - grimacing each time they see something gross.
ESTHER: (baby voice) There you go, princess! Does that feel better? New clothes and a fresh diaper!
Auggie approaches Esther and Sophie with caution.
At this point, it’s undeniable that Esther has made a significantly larger amount of physical connection with Sophie in comparison to Auggie.
AUGGIE: Thank you by the way.
ESTHER: Oh yeah, it’s no problem. I’m happy to help.
Esther sets the peaceful baby inside a crib that she not only bought but assembled, too.
ESTHER: I should get going now, so -
AUGGIE: (interrupting her): Whoa, whoa, whoa you can’t leave. We need you.
ESTHER: I have to take the opening shift tomorrow morning because I left an hour earlier today. And I’m not always gonna be around. You need to learn how to do this on your own. You’re her dad. It’s time you start acting like it.
With a heavy heart, Esther leaves, but not before planting a kiss on Auggie’s cheek.
ESTHER: (whispering in his ear) I believe in you. (pulling away) And if you really need me, you can call me.
As Esther leaves the apartment, Auggie stands completely still as if he’s been paralyzed with fear.
RENE: Toby, did you see that? (singing) Auggie and Esther sitting in a tree -
TOBIN: (mocking Auggie) Oh, my dearest Esther! I beg of you, darling, do not leave me!
Tobin and Rene crack a few more jokes about what just happened, until they realize Auggie has yet to laugh or defend himself. He’s still staring at the door that Esther just left from.
TOBIN: Hey man, we were just kidding.
Auggie fully turns around to his buddies. His face has visibly gone pale.
AUGGIE: What am I gonna do?
Sophie starts to wail.
INT. AUGGIE’S KITCHEN - EVENING
Rene and Tobin munch on Chinese takeout, looking at something on Tobin’s phone and making calm conversation. On the contrary, Auggie paces around the room holding Sophie as she cries uncontrollably. He’s a mess.
TOBIN: Rene and I found Jackie’s insta. She’s pretty hot for a new mom. Lucky bastard.
Auggie gives a “really?” look. Tobin immediately puts his phone away apologetically.
AUGGIE: Yeah, I’m definitely feeling lucky right about now. Sophie’s been crying for two hours and nothing is working. I tried feeding her, changing her, I even tried reading to her. (frustrated groan) I’m gonna call Esther.
Objections from Tobin and Rene fade into the background as Auggie calls Esther.
INT. AUGGIE’S LIVING ROOM - NIGHT
Rene and Tobin are seated at Auggie’s desk with his computer, looking up ways to get a baby to stop crying. They recite them to him as Auggie tries each recommendation in his living room.
AUGGIE: (checking his watch) Where is Esther? I called her like fifteen minutes ago.
Immediately, the door opens. Esther barges in with a large bag on her back. It’s a guitar case.
ESTHER: Sorry I’m late, I had to dig through the storage unit for this. (pushing Rene out of the desk chair) Move.
Esther takes the desk chair and places it right across from the rocking chair that Auggie and Sophie are in. She pulls out a dusty vintage acoustic guitar from its case. Frantically, she tunes it.
ESTHER: (with the guitar pick between her teeth) By the way, there’s like three noise complaint papers taped to your door. Gotta hand it to you, Auggie, kid’s got some lungs. I could hear her all the way from the lobby.
Esther strums a chord and with satisfaction, she takes the pick out of her mouth and starts to play Landslide by Fleetwood Mac.
ESTHER: (singing) I took my love, I took it down.
Her voice not only captivates Sophie, but it’s so beautiful that even Auggie, Tobin, and Rene are caught off guard. Not even Auggie, the closest friend she has, knew she sang so well.
A calm settles over the room. The atmosphere’s changed. Sophie coos. She likes it. She’s already calmer.
ESTHER (CONT’D): Climbed a mountain and I turned around. And I saw my reflection in the snow covered hills. ’Til the landslide brought me down.
As Auggie rocks Sophie back and forth, his attention diverts to Esther. Auggie looks at her, really looks at her. As if for the first time, he’s truly seeing her.
Tobin and Rene are in the back, hugging each other like they’re proud parents watching their son and the love of his life interact.
ESTHER (CONT’D): Oh, mirror in the sky. What is love? Can the child within my heart rise above? Can I sail through the changing ocean tides? Can I handle the seasons of my life?
Sophie’s almost fast asleep. Esther can’t help but smile.
ESTHER (CONT’D): Well, I've been afraid of changing. Cause I've built my life around you. But time makes you bolder. Even children get older. And I'm getting older too.
Sophie finally smiles as she drifts asleep. Esther laughs in awe. Her singing almost stops, before she notices that Auggie is tearing up.
ESTHER (CONT’D): Take my love, take it down. Climb a mountain and you turn around. And if you see my reflection in the snow covered hills. Well the landslide will bring it down. And if you see my reflection in the snow covered hills. Well the landslide will bring it down. The landslide will bring it down.
As the song comes to a close and Esther let’s the guitar fade, Sophie is fully asleep and peaceful again. Esther places her guitar back in its case and Auggie sets Sophie into her crib. As he does, Esther takes a deep breath and wipes the sweat of her palms on the sides of her leggings. She looks like she’s got to get something big off her chest.
AUGGIE: You are awesome. I can’t believe how fast that worked. You should record an album and -
ESTHER: (interrupting him) I think we should talk.
Auggie is confused at first, but the fact that her voice yields no sarcasm, he knows she’s serious. He takes a seat on the couch, while Tobin, Rene, and Esther sit across from him on top of the coffee table.
ESTHER (CONT’D): Look, I know you wanna do the right thing here, but just because Jackie gave her to you, doesn’t mean you have to keep her. And you are not any less of a good person if you let someone else take care of Sophie.
AUGGIE: Jesus, what is this? A fucking intervention? I’ve only had her for less than a day and you guys are already saying I can’t do it?
TOBIN: Augs, it’s not that - we just think you’re way in over your head.
Auggie is completely stunned by what he's hearing.
RENE: There’s no shame in giving her up for adoption. I know so many couples who haven’t had luck with a surrogate. So if you do give her up for adoption, maybe one of my friends could adopt her. She’d be going to a really good home- I’d make sure of it. I’m sure they’d even let you co-parent.
ESTHER : Auggie, we aren’t trying to be pessimistic, but the reality of it is, you aren’t ready to be a parent yet. Much less a single parent.
Auggie zones out a little. Sophie catches his eyes. He looks at her pensively.
EXT. A PARK - 5:00 a.m. NEXT day
Auggie’s jogging through a path in a park. Not many people are around considering it’s so early in the morning. A nearby car chirps and unlocks. It’s Esther. She looks up for a quick second, only to realize the jogger is Auggie.
ESTHER: (calling out to him) Hey, Auggie! Wait up!
Auggie notices and jogs back to see her.
ESTHER: What are you doing up so early?
AUGGIE: I could ask you the same thing.
ESTHER: I’m going to an earlier spin class so I can get a workout in before I have to open the store. Your turn.
AUGGIE: I find that in times of distress, running clears the mind. And after last night, consider me very distressed.
ESTHER: Well, there’s also the saying “Sleep on it.” But from the looks of you, I don’t think you’ve tried that approach. (caresses his face and sees the exhaustion) Did you sleep at all last night?
AUGGIE: (passive aggressively) Well I couldn’t get my own daughter to go to bed last night, so how could I get myself to?
ESTHER: August, I was just trying/ to help
AUGGIE: /That was out of line. I apologize.
ESTHER: I was going to meet you after my shift to tell you how sorry I was about what happened last night. I know it seemed like we were ganging up on you, but I promise it was out of love.
AUGGIE : No, I get that, but the only reason I was mad was because it was true. I know I’m not prepared to raise Sophie, but my pride is telling me I can’t let her go. If Jackie never gave her to me and let another family adopt her, I’d be okay with that, but knowing about her - knowing I am a dad - that makes all the difference. The unfairness of it all is holding me back, too.
ESTHER: What’s unfair?
AUGGIE: She’s already been abandoned by her mother. And if I do this, I’m abandoning her too. Only because I don’t think I can handle it. Isn’t that just selfish? There isn’t even a guarantee that she’s better off in the system. What if she’s never adopted and is forced to move from foster home to foster home? Each one being worse than the last. I know what that’s like.
Esther nods understandingly and holds her head low in guilt.
AUGGIE (CONT’D): My parents, now they - they are prime examples of people who should never raise kids, but I’m not them. I’m not perfect, but at least, I’m not bipolar. Or addicted to methamphetamines. I am nothing like them. And I’ve spent my entire life trying to prove that, but if I just gave up on Sophie, and she suffered the consequences, I don’t know how I’d live with myself. I’d be perpetuating the cycle. (beat) I was doomed from the start. But Sophie - I’m gonna get better for her.
Esther sighs and smiles. She takes her free arm and puts it around Auggie, embracing him in a tight hug.
ESTHER: I support you. (on the verge of tears but still cracking jokes) You know, Landslide isn’t the only song I can sing. I can play Fast Car, too.
Auggie laughs as a tear falls down his cheek. To suppress his sobs, he lets his lips press on Esther’s shoulder. She feels this and rubs her hand up and down his back - still hugging him.
ESTHER (CONT’D): I’m proud of you.
Auggie’s finally grown up.
EXT.  A PARK - EARLY NOON
Esther and Auggie are sitting on a big comforter with little fixings laid out. Their conversations are tranquil as they nibble on some of the food. They even make a toast using champagne glasses filled with sparkling cider. In the distance, Tobin, who’s wearing Sophie in a baby carrier, and Rene are throwing around a frisbee.
AUGGIE: By the way, you’re not a very good liar. Was I that bad of a teacher? I mean, really, spin class was the best you could come up with? Correct me if I’m wrong, but it’s not ideal to go to Soul Cycle in a tank top and jeans.
ESTHER: Okay, well, telling the guy who runs for leisure that I’m going to a spin class speaks more highly of my character than admitting that I had an urge to completely rearrange the store and redress mannequins.
AUGGIE: I wouldn’t judge you for doing your job. I might’ve even applauded you for waking up that early to execute a plan that you could’ve done during your shift. I wish I had a job I was that passionate about.
ESTHER: I like it, but it’s not my passion. I’ve only been working there for as long as I have because I needed a stable job while I searched for my true calling. And now it’s been a few years, but my vocation has yet to call me back.
AUGGIE: Why don’t you pursue a music career? (Esther shakes her head and laughs) No, I’m being serious. You’re talented, E. I’m sure you could make a career out of it.
Esther’s smile fades. With a sigh, she changes from sitting on the blanket, to laying her back completely flat on top of it. She stares up at the cloudy blue sky.
ESTHER: I always thought about it, but I just think my window of opportunity closed. I’m what, 25 almost 26 now? And doing something as impractical as trying to be a singer - it takes years for people to build up their music careers. So I’d be nearly 30 when mine would presumably take off, and by that time, I’ll want to settle down, be married, live in a cozy home and start a family. All of the things my friends already have or are going to have soon. I mean, Francine’s engaged, Clara has twins on the way, and Julie’s living somewhere in a little European villa. (sigh) I realize that I can’t have it all, but right now, I don’t even have any of it. I feel like I’m waiting around for my life to finally begin, while it’s simultaneously passing me by.
Auggie’s face softens as he listens to Esther. He knows exactly what she’s feeling.
AUGGIE: For as long as I’ve known you, I don’t think I’ve ever seen you lose hope before. It’s what I envy about you most. I used to think the way you viewed the world was so naive, but now I’m jealous. I wanna believe in what’s to come as strongly as you do.
Esther’s moved. Her eyes cut away from the sky to look at Auggie, really look at him.
Esther rolls onto her side and shifts closer to Auggie. He imitates her actions, and soon enough, he presses his forehead against hers - their purest exchange of love.
Auggie’s so tempted to kiss her, but he wills himself not to. Before he truly loses his control, he pulls away and sits up.
AUGGIE: (clears throat) So, how’s Lola? [Filipino word for Grandmother. Esther is Filpino.]
ESTHER: She still asks about you. Except now with her alzheimer’s, she refers to you as “my skinny boyfriend.” (laughing) She’s good though. My aunt and I both agreed she’s better off with people that can actually help her. But that doesn’t mean that I don’t feel less guilty that I can’t do more for her. I owe her so much. Like she took me in, no hesitation, and raised me all on her own. And I’m biased, but I think she did a really good job.
AUGGIE: (smiling) I definitely think so. Anytime I walked you home, she’d always come outside and offer me food, or welcome me to stay in the guest room when I didn’t feel like going back to my foster home at the time. I probably felt more at home at Lola’s than anywhere else.
ESTHER: (beat) You don’t have to say yes, but would you maybe want to visit her with me? She really misses you and I’d think it’d be good to see another familiar face.
AUGGIE: (nodding rapidly) Yeah, yes, yes, of course.
INT. NURSING & CONVALESCENT HOME - A WEEK LATER
Auggie and Esther are seated beside Lola. She’s weak and slow, but she’s still got quick wit and a smile that never seems to fade. Esther and Lola are holding hands, while Auggie catches Lola up in his life.
LOLA: So, August, do you have a girlfriend yet?
AUGGIE: (blushing)Ah, not yet, Lola.
LOLA: Maybe then you should date her. (pointing to Esther) She's always complaining to me about how she is single.
ESTHER: (embarrassed) Lola!
Auggie laughs and blushes.
He wants to date her. He’s always wanted to date her.
LOLA: I’m not joking, ah! You two will get married and you can move into a nice neighborhood and raise Serena.
Auggie and Esther look at each other. They notice how Lola got Sophie’s name wrong. It could just be an easy mistake, but it’s not - they both know it.
ESTHER: (planting a kiss on Lola’s forehead) We’ll think about it, Lola, but you should get some rest. I’ll be back tomorrow, okay? Do you want me to bring you anything?
LOLA: August, are you going to come visit me tomorrow, too?
AUGGIE: I’ll be here, Lola. I promise.
Lola settles into her bed and smiles.
EXT./ INT. OUTSIDE THE HOME AND IN AUGGIE'S CAR - AFTER VISIT
ESTHER: You don’t have to come back tomorrow. She won’t remember anyway.
AUGGIE: No, no I wanna come. She was the closest thing I had to a mother figure and I want to be there. For you and her.
Esther smiles to herself. When they reach Auggie’s car, he opens her door first.
AUGGIE: So did you mean what you said back there? About thinking about us?
ESTHER: I kinda just said that in the moment to get her to stop. But I do think about us a lot, just not romantically.
AUGGIE: (slightly disappointed) Oh, okay.
ESTHER: Why do you ask?
AUGGIE: (shaking his head and driving out of the parking space) Oh no reason.
INT. AUGGIE'S APARTMENT - LATER
Auggie and Tobin are sitting at their dining table with Sophie in her high chair beside Auggie. Tobin and Auggie are nursing beers.
TOBIN: Yeah, she’s definitely lying. Girls always say the exact opposite of what they mean.
AUGGIE: But that’s just it - I’ve liked her for so long, how could she not know? (beat) You know, when Lola was talking about living together and raising Sophie, I started to picture that future, and call me crazy, but I think Esther could see it, too.
TOBIN: What’d Esther say?
AUGGIE Nothing really, because Lola forgot Sophie’s name so/ Yeah, I know.
TOBIN: /(winces) Oh.
TOBIN: Maybe that’s why she’s hiding how she feels. She’s got a lot to lose and she’s already losing some of it. Her grandma, who is really the only family she has, has Alzheimers. And if she confesses she likes you, but you don’t feel the same way, she loses you, too. I think maybe you should take the first step here. Put yourself out there and let her know that you want the same thing she does.
AUGGIE: But how do I do that without putting my neck on the line?
The apartment door swings wide open as an excited Rene comes running through. Behind him follows his other half, GIOVANNI. Auggie and Tobin see him and give him a small wave and an acknowledging nod. It’s obvious they’ve known each other for a while.
RENE: Gio and I are engaged bitches!
Rene waves his hand around and shows off his ring. Tobin and Auggie are quick to stand up and rush to Rene to embrace him. They congratulate Gio, too.
AUGGIE: So when’s the wedding?
GIO: Well, this one has been waiting for three years to get hitched, so now that we’re engaged, the wedding’s in six months.
TOBIN: Wow, so soon?
Rene snuggles up in Gio’s arms.
RENE: I’ve been waiting my entire life for a wedding, and I don’t plan on waiting another year. And six months from now is our four year anniversary.
A lightbulb goes off in Tobin’s mind.
TOBIN: Can people bring plus ones?
RENE: Well, we haven’t gotten there yet, but yeah I/ guess
TOBIN: /(turns to Auggie) Dude. That’s it.
AUGGIE: Wh/at?
RENE: /Why? What’s going on?
TOBIN: I’m like 99% sure Esther likes Auggie, but she’s just too scared to admit it. So if Auggie grows some balls and makes the first move, he shouldn’t have to risk it all in case she doesn't actually like him back. Asking Esther to be his date to your wedding is a perfect way to test the waters. Plus, if Auggie’s feelings for her are real, they’ll still be there in six months.
GIO: Are you sure you wanna ask her to the wedding? Six months is a long time to wait for a first date.
TOBIN: Like I said, he still needs to grow the balls to ask her. I’d argue six months isn’t long enough.
Auggie glares at him.
INT. AUGGIE'S APARTMENT - NIGHT
Esther, Rene, and Tobin are lounging on the couch. They’re watching a horror film while Auggie is alone at the dining table with a lamp specifically placed on the table for light. Sophie’s in her high chair beside him as he drafts a list.
AUGGIE: (speaking loudly over the movie) What about a dog walker? I could use the baby carrier and then use both my hands for the leashes.
TOBIN: (speaking to Auggie, but staying focused on the movie) You’d have to scout out people so rich that they can’t be bothered to pick up their dog’s shit. Not a stable job if you ask me. (beat) I still say just go back to Elements with me. For just being a waiter, it has pretty decent pay. And we can coordinate our shifts so that one of us will always be home with Sophie.
Auggie nods to agree politely, but he’s clearly still conflicted. Glancing at a view of his list, there’s nearly three pages worth, but the first two pages have jobs that have already been crossed out.
Esther notices the stress that’s manifested within Auggie. She gets up from the couch to hold Sophie and sit beside him. Tobin lowers the volume on the TV, while Rene turns his upper body around to fold his arms on the top of the couch.
ESTHER : Don’t think about what pays well or what works for the schedule. You know I’ll babysit if you need me too.
RENE: (raising his hand) Me and Gio really want to babysit, too. It’d be good practice for when we have our own kids.
ESTHER : See, everyone’s here for you and Sophie. And if it's the salary you’re worried about, don’t be. You know, I’ve got you. But don’t choose a job you feel like you need to take but a job you want to. If you’re going to be spending hours at a time away from your daughter, and coming home to the job of being a dad, your work should be well worth the time you spend away and it should be something that doesn’t add to the stress you already deal with.
AUGGIE: Yeah, you’re right. (sets aside his list and actually thinks) Well, I’m addicted to coffee, so I wouldn’t mind working in a cafe. And I like to read, so working at a bookstore would be kinda fun.
ESTHER: Okay, good, that’s a start. Lemme think, right across from Primrose is this cafe called The Last Drop. We’d be working right next to each other so I’m always close by if you need me.
AUGGIE: Yeah, I think I’ve been there once or twice before.
ESTHER: Sweet, I’ll check in with the place tomorrow and ask if they’re hiring.(adjusts watch to check the time) But I should probably get home now.
Esther places Sophie back in her high chair and kisses Auggie’s cheek. She grabs her purse and waves goodbye to Rene and Tobin.
As soon as the door shuts, Rene and Tobin rush over to sit by an oblivious Auggie.
TOBIN: Du/de!
RENE:  /Oh my god!
AUGGIE: What?
RENE: What do you mean “what?!” She’s literally in love with you- I’m calling it.
AUGGIE: Okay, you need to calm down/ I don’t even know what you’re talking about.
RENE: /She likes you!
TOBIN: She kisses you but Rene and I get a distant wave? Rene’s gay! She could’ve kissed him goodbye if it was just a friendly gesture, but she didn’t! Because a kiss like that is to show affection.
RENE: Not that I know anything about women and affection, but Tobin’s right. I’m not saying I want a goodbye kiss, but it definitely means something that you’re constantly getting one. And not to mention the whole sentimental speech about doing what you love and saying she’s got you if you have financial problems. She’s literally going to The Last Drop tomorrow to ask if they’re hiring for you.
AUGGIE: You guys don’t get it. Esther is just caring like that. And the kiss thing, doesn’t even -
The front door cracks open just a bit.
ESTHER: Hi, sorry to barge in again, but I was in the lobby when I realized I forgot to ask if you still want to go visit Lola tomorrow?
Tobin and Rene immediately hear this and they exchange subtle smirks and glances.
AUGGIE: Yeah, I wouldn’t miss it for the/ world.
TOBIN: /(whispering to Auggie) Ask if she needs a ride there.
AUGGIE: Do you need a ride there? I can pick you up from work.
ESTHER: Yes, that would be great. Thank you!
Esther shuts the door behind her, and chaos erupts. Rene and Tobin’s voices overlap as they each go off on Auggie.
INT. PRIMROSE BOUTIQUE - AFTERNOON
In a remote breakroom, Esther packs her things and prepares to leave. FRANCINE, Esther’s coworker and friend, scrolls through her phone while eating a snack.
FRANCINE: You’re leaving already?
ESTHER: No, I just have to stop by The Last Drop and see if they’re hiring before I visit my grandma.
FRANCINE: OMG, are you quitting?
ESTHER: No, no, I’m just asking for a friend.
FRANCINE: Is it for that guy that came in with the baby a couple days ago? Do you like him?
ESTHER: (blushing and uncomfortably laughing) I- I don’t really know. We’ve been friends for so long that a part of me just can’t picture dating him. But yesterday, my grandma was talking about what our future could look like if we were together, and you know that I’ve been struggling for so long with my life plan. But hearing her say that, it felt like everything was falling into place. Like that’s the life I want to live.
FRANCINE: If it’s any consolation, it’s obvious to me that he likes you.
Esther finally makes her way out of the breakroom to officially leave.
ESTHER: Well, I have yet to see any proof of that being true, but I’ll keep you posted.
Esther is about to walk out fully, when Francine catches her before she really leaves.
FRANCINE: Is he going with you to visit your grandma?!
Esther doesn’t respond, but her body language says it all. She smiles to herself and shakes her head.
INT. THE LAST DROP
Esther makes her way to the counter. No one’s there to help. Most workers are in the back making drinks, but some are waitering.
She taps on her watch and glances out the open windows to check if Auggie’s outside yet. When she turns her head, there’s a waiter making his way around the corner to help. He twirls a toothpick in his mouth and wipes his hands on his apron while Esther reads his nametag. His name is ROMEO.
ROMEO: Sorry about the wait, we’re understaffed today. What can I get for you?
ESTHER: Actually, I’m not ordering anything, but I might have a solution to your problem. Are you guys hiring?
There’s something in the air. The way that Romeo’s looking at Esther and the way they’re leaning in.
ROMEO: (with particular charm) Depends who’s asking.
ESTHER:(weak laugh) Ha, I would apply, but I’ve got a job just across the street.
ROMEO: No kidding. You work at Primrose? All this time I’ve been working across a beautiful girl and I’ve never known.
Esther smiles and her cheeks flush, but this flirtatiousness is foreign to her, so she isn’t sure how to react. So rather than play along or address it, she brushes it off.
ESTHER: Yes or no?
ROMEO: Yes, I will have lunch with you sometime.
ESTHER: (slaps his arm playfully) Hey I’m being serious, yes or no?
ROMEO: I’ll answer you when you answer me.
ESTHER: I asked you first.
ROMEO: I’ll think about it. Now you.
ESTHER: Ditto.
Romeo’s even more interested. He raises his eyebrow. Esther slides him Auggie’s resume and in this moment, there’s clear tension and chemistry. Suddenly, their moment is interrupted by the tap on Esther’s shoulder. It’s Auggie.
AUGGIE: Hey, I’ve been outside, but you weren’t answering my calls. You ready?
Romeo pushes himself away from the counter, while Auggie puts his hand on her back to guide her outside and away from Romeo. There’s something subtly territorial about this interaction.
ESTHER: Yeah, yeah, I’m ready. Let’s go.
Esther and Auggie leave The Last Drop, with Romeo in the background following Esther with his eyes.
As Auggie opens the door for Esther, he can’t help but ask.
AUGGIE: Who was that?
ESTHER: No one.
EXT. A BENCH UNDER A TREE - LATER
Lola, Auggie, and Esther are seated on a bench underneath a cherry blossom tree. Auggie’s fixated on Esther, Esther’s fixated on Lola, and Lola is looking out into the distance.
LOLA: August, do you have a girlfriend yet?
Lola’s already forgotten that she asked him this yesterday. Esther gives Auggie a look of “just go with it.” But Auggie already understands.
AUGGIE: Not yet, Lola, but I’m open to it. A mother figure for Sophie would be great.
A shift in Esther occurs. She’s listening more intently. This wasn’t the answer he gave Lola yesterday.
LOLA: You know who would be a good mother. Esther. She was always offered babysitting jobs because people thought she was so good at taking care of their children. Maybe you should date her.
Yet again, Lola leads Auggie and Esther down a path that they’re too scared to admit they both want to explore.
ESTHER: That’s not true. The kids would always ask me to come babysit them because I’d sing to them. Other than that I wouldn’t say I’m very maternal.
Auggie interjects.
AUGGIE: She’s just being modest. I’d love it if Esther helped me raise Sophie. My only hope is that Sophie grows up to be just like her.
Auggie looks over at Esther and exchanges a soulful  glance. Esther smiles back.
LOLA: (to Esther) Anak [child], can you bring me my sweater from my room? It’s getting a bit chilly outside.
Esther obeys and leaves Auggie and Lola on the bench. Lola watches Esther go inside the home and places her hand on Auggie.
LOLA: August, I am not what I used to be, but I’m sharper than you think. (beat) Esther and I spend hours just talking about you. To me, it is obvious that she wonders about your relationship, but she’s too scared to ask. So I ask for her, even though I already know the answer. I know you’ll never say you have a girlfriend until it’s her you’re dating.
AUGGIE: Tama, po. [You’re right.]
LOLA: I always knew you two would end up marrying each other. Ever since you came to the house with a suit on to take Esther to the dance. I only remember it so vividly because she didn’t eat dinner that night she was so sad. I regret not telling her you came by. I think it would’ve made her very happy.
Auggie laughs, not only because food is attached to the memory (something very Filipino of Lola) but because he remembers that day too.
AUGGIE: Lola, does she love me?
LOLA: Do you even need to ask?
EXT/INT. OUTSIDE OF ESTHER’S APARTMENT - NIGHT
Auggie opens Esther’s car door and walks her to her apartment.
ESTHER: You don’t have to walk me to my door. I’ll be fine.
AUGGIE: No, no I want to make sure you get there safely.
Esther smiles gratefully at him and mentally notes his chivalry.
There’s a comfortable silence that falls upon them. As they climb Esther’s staircase, very few words are shared, but it’s okay.
ESTHER: So I’ll see you tomorrow then.
AUGGIE: (cheekily) Tomorrow.
Esther begins to unlock her door, but when the key turns, she hesitates.
Esther and Auggie share a brief hug before she goes inside. After locking the door behind her, she lingers for a moment. As she presses her back against the door pensively, Auggie does the same on the other side.
Another missed opportunity.
EXT./INT. PRIMROSE BOUTIQUE - NEXT MORNING
Esther makes her way from the parking lot into Primrose. As soon as she walks through the door, she can hear a crowd in the backroom. When she finally gets there, she sees Francine handing out papers.
FRANCINE: (handing her the card) Oh good, you’re here. These are my official save the date cards!
The card reads “Save the Date for the Wedding of Francine and Alonzo”
ESTHER: Wow, I can’t believe you’re getting married in six months. That’s crazy! I swear it was just yesterday that you were engaged.
FRANCINE: I know right!
ESTHER: Are Julie and Clara coming?
FRANCINE: I tried phoning Julie, but no response. Probably with some Italian hunk on his yacht where there’s no reception, so I won’t be counting on her to make an appearance. And Clara wants to come, but it’s just too close to her expected delivery date for her to tell.
Instantly, Esther shuts down. As if she didn’t need another reminder that she was far from experiencing the milestones her friends were lucky enough to be experiencing now.
Esther fakes a polite smile and thanks her. She puts the invitation in her purse and walks to her locker. A bouquet falls out.
FRANCINE: Oh yeah, some guy came by earlier asking about you. He gave me those roses to put in your locker. That’s not the same guy with the baby, was it?
Esther reads the card. “I guess finding out your name was Esther was worth the hassle. -R”
ESTHER: No, he’s this guy that works at The Last Drop.
FRANCINE: Ooh, playing the field now are we? Go you.
ESTHER: No, no it’s not like that.
FRANCINE: So which one are you gonna invite to the wedding? Baby guy or coffee guy?
Esther stops in her tracks when she realizes the opportunity that lies ahead.

Dragon Ball Z 166
Tumblr media
Cell Games Saga!    This is probably my all-time favorite part of DBZ.   I have a hard time deciding between this and the Perfect Cell Saga that preceded it.   This is probably because it was the Perfect Cell arc where I finally got hooked on DBZ, and the Cell Games was the payoff to the cliffhanger.
Here’s the thing: Cell has already won.    Twice, really.    He was the last warrior standing in the post-apocalyptic future he came from, then he went back in time to this era to fulfill the true purpose of his design.    Actually absorbing 17 and 18 to become his final form involved a lot of extra battles that he didn’t have to fight in his own time, but like he told Piccolo in his debut, he was created to do it.    He had to do it.
I suppose that’s the core concept of Cell as a character.  Winning alone isn’t enough for him.  He enjoys winning, but he wants it to be on his own terms.    Dare I say it, he wants his victory to be perfect.     So moping around in his native era, a world where the androids and Z-Figthers have all been killed, held no satisfaction for him.    The Imperfect and Perfect Cell Sagas were his chance at a do-over.   You’d think beating Piccolo, 16, Tien, Vegeta, and Trunks to reach his perfect form would be enough for him, but it’s not.    And so he spared Trunks, and promised to arrange a tournament where they could fight all over again.
The other thing to keep in mind about Cell is that he only seems to enjoy winning for its own sake.    Reaching his perfect form seems to have been his only major objective.   In the last episode, he admitted to Trunks that he’s really only out to enjoy himself now.    He was created to kill Goku, but that no longer holds any particular interest for him.   He wants to fight Goku, but that’s probably because Goku’s the only major player he hasn’t beaten yet.   But Goku’s probably not going to offer much more sport than the other Super Saiyans he’s fought, so that’s why he’s planning a tournament, so he can fight all his enemies in one go.
Except, that’s kind of what he just did in the last 17 episodes.   It says a lot about Cell that he won that gauntlet, and all he knows to do with himself is to clap his hands and say “Again!”.    Team Four Star observed that Cell is only six years old, which sounds about right.    For all his power and intellect, Cell lacks emotional maturity in a lot of ways.    All he knows is fighting, but he has no interest in conquest or spoils.   There’s no raddish farm Cell can go to between battles.
Tumblr media
So this leaves the Z-Fighters in the awkward position of losing a battle for the fate of the world, but still being alive to deal with the consequences.   Vegeta and Krillin meet up with Trunks, and he fills them in.   Vegeta scolds Trunks for trying to fight Perfect Cell alone and this just might be peak Vegeta right here.    Does he even listen to himself?
Krillin tries to put Geets in his place by revealing that Trunks surpassed him, but Trunks shushes him.   When I first saw this episode, I thought maybe Trunks was still trying to protect his father’s pride, but over the years I’ve realized that Trunks was just trying to spare himself the embarrassment.   He had thought he had surpassed Vegeta, but his increased strength was illusory, and it’s just as well that Vegeta never knew about it, since he would have dismissed it as such.
Actually, that’s kind of the tragedy of the time these two spent in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber.   They had to share the room, but they clearly spent very little time working together, or Trunks could have shown Vegeta his Dummy Thicc form, and Vegeta would have told him why it was a blind alley.  To be sure, Vegeta probably wouldn’t have been very kind about it, but it would have been less painful than learning the lesson from Cell.
In contrast, we saw Goku and Gohan have that exact conversation in the previous episode, and it was pretty early on during their time in the HTC.   Gohan was all “This will work”, and Goku was like “No, it can’t.    We need to try something else.”     Vegeta and Trunks could have shared that same exchange of ideas, but they didn’t because Vegeta insisted on training alone.
Tumblr media
From the Lookout, Piccolo starts planning his own session in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber.    You’d think this would do the trick, since he was much, much stronger than Goku or Vegeta before they went in.    In theory, a year to train would push Piccolo over the top, but it never actually works out that way.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Likewise, Trunks and Vegeta decide to do the same thing.    Krillin was pretty upset to hear about Cell’s tournament, because who could even enter the thing after Cell beat everyone?   But Piccolo and the Saiyans are game for one more round.    After all, they still have the time chamber, and this was what Cell was counting on, even though he doesn’t know about the chamber specifically.    He saw for himself that Vegeta and Trunks improved very dramatically, and apparently Goku’s doing something similar, so he’s hoping that if he gives them ten days, they’ll be even better opponents.
Tumblr media
Android 16 also wants in the tournament, and he steps forward to ask the Z-Fighters to take him in for repairs so he can fight on their side.    Trunks hates that idea, because he still regards the androids as enemies of the Earth, but Krillin agrees to help, because he believes 16 isn’t really a bad guy.   He doesn’t understand why the androids are worse in Trunks’ world, but in this world they all share a common enemy in Cell, and that’s good enough to help 16.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hyperbolic Time Chamber Update: Goku tries to put Gohan in bed for the night, but Gohan wakes up and apologizes for passing out during their training.    Goku wants him to rest, but Gohan pleads to keep training with Goku, so Goku decides he’s going to turn in for the night as well, if only to convince Gohan to get the rest he needs.
Tumblr media
At Capsule Corp., everyone meets up to discuss the situation.    Trunks explains Cell’s tournament, and Yamcha gets all nostalgic for the Tenkaichi Budokai.  Oolong reminds him that he lost the first round of every tourney he entered.   Well, let’s see how that compares to Oolong’s win-loss record, which currently stands at oh wait Oolong never fought in any tournaments because he’s just a one-off gag villain who never did anything useful after that one time he wished for panties.   It’s almost like Oolong is a perverted jackass who needs to shut his mouth and stay in his own damn lane.  At least Yamcha shows up for these kinds of things, and he accomplishes his own personal growth, even if it doesn’t actually turn the tide of the battles.   What’s Oolong ever done for the world except drool and support the child-size suspender industry?
On the other hand, Yamcha’s been in exactly zero suitcases full of panties, so I guess Oolong has him beat there.    In case you can’t tell, I’m being sarcastic.    Fuck you, Oolong.
Tumblr media
Vegeta, Trunks, and Bulma’s parents have never heard of the Tenkaichi Budokai, so Roshi explains it to them, while also noting that he was a former champion.   Puar’s all “Wait, when did you win the Tenkaichi Budokai?”    So I guess Roshi’s secret identity as Jackie Chun is still in effect?   I feel like there was some point where it was implied that the others knew the truth.    Or maybe I just thought that because Roshi keeps alluding to his Jackie Chun work without actually spelling it out.
Tumblr media
Vegeta mocks the tournament, which seems pretty stupid, since it was a long time ago, back when everyone was weaker.    I mean, he calls them “lower-level fights”, but by that logic, the scrap with the Ginyu Force was a lower level fight, and everyon in this room could kick Recoome’s ass today.   Except Oolong, he’d get killed in seconds.    Puar would shapeshift into a bug and burrow into his brain through his eyes and kill him that way.    Puar doesn’t mess around.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
According to Roshi, they stopped holding the tournament after Piccolo and Goku’s match destroyed the “fighting ring”.   I find that weird, because it buries the lead.    Piccolo destroyed the whole city the tournament was held in.   Of course, we would later learn that a 24th Budokai was held without the Z-Fighters’ knowledge, but we’ll get to that later.
Tumblr media
By the time Roshi finishes his story, everyone but Dr. Brief has left the room.    I kind of like this gag, because Roshi sort of got lost in his own exposition.   Most of the characters already knew what the Budokai was, and the ones who didn’t were only interested in how it relates to Cell’s version, which Roshi doesn’t know yet.
Tumblr media
Outside, Vegeta insists that the human fighters won’t matter in Cell’s tournament.   That’s kind of B.S., because when I first watched these episodes, I really thought they were going to do some sort of thing where Cell would fight each good guy one-on-one, and by the time he got to Krillin he’d be pretty tired, to the point where Krillin would have a real chance of making a difference.  I mean, 16′s no match for Perfect Cell either, but they’re still taking the time to repair him.    The more guys they bring to this party, the better their chances.
Tumblr media
Chi-Chi, for one, is relieved to hear about the tournament, because Cell will finally have to follow some rules, even if they’re rules he made up himself.   Killing your opponent was illegal in the Tenkaichi Budokai, and so she’s expecting a similar no-killing rule at the Cell Games.
Tumblr media
That being the case, she refuses to allow Gohan to participate in the tournment, because in her mind it’s voluntary, as opposed to the previous crisis, where the androids and Cell went around attacking everyone.
Tumblr media
Here’s a cute picture of baby Gohan, from a flashback to where Chi-Chi first declared that Gohan wouldn’t become a martial artist.    When he was born, the world as at peace, so Chi-Chi believed it would be a waste for Gohan to learn martial arts.    The last 166 episodes o this show suggest otherwise, but Chi-Chi’s sticking to her guns.
Tumblr media
Then she tells the others that she doesn’t want Gohan to become a delinquent like all of them, and they take offense to that.    Okay, from left to right:
Yamcha was a literal bandit.
Chiaotzu grifted yokels for free corn.   He also cheats at things.
Krillin destroyed the remote, thereby allowing Cell to become perfect.
Master Roshi belongs in jail.
Oolong grifted yokels for free child brides.
I mean, the shoe fits.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
On the other hand, let’s check in on Cell, who is literally murdering a guy so he can flatten his property and build a tournament ring over it.   I love Chi-Chi, but she’s like every overwrought crusader on the internet.     Cell’s out here dumping toxic waste into the ocean, and she’s calling out Krillin for using a plastic straw.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This whole scene is bad ass.   Cell lifts a hill out of the ground with telekinesis, sort of like how Frieza did on Namek, except he carves it into a stone block, then slices it into tiles, and arranges them into a larger replica of the Tenkaichi Budokai stage.   This event hasn’t even started yet, and it’s already way better than those piece of shit Frieza Games from a few years ago.    Two hundred bucks a seat, and you get there and Frieza just sits in his stupid hoverchair and chatters while Zarbon and Dodoria fight people for him.   For six hours.
Tumblr media
A lot of this episode was a waste of time, because Cell pretty well explained the tournament idea to Trunks in the previous episode, and he’s going to announce the full details in the next episode.   So there’s not much point in having a bunch of good guys talk about it here.    This was probably just an excuse to do a flashback to some of the old Budokai episodes, but I still like this one because of Cell making the ring, and the gang chilling out on Bulma’s balcony.    Good times.

Even More Quotes for Runners
Did you need more quotes in your life? No? Well, I hate to break it to you, but you’re getting a bunch. I collect quotes like how single women my age collect cats. I can’t get enough of them.
There’s something about a good thought provoking quote that can change not just your perspective, but shift it as well. It’s one thing to be inspired by a quote, but it’s a total different thing to be changed by one. Something that’s happened to me many times in my life.
In addition to keeping a database of quotes for running, I hoard quotes for inspiration and motivation — socially, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. I might share some of quotes on my personal blog Josherwalla.com sometime later, but for here — this is all about running, fitness and health.
I use many of these quotes also to make into memes for the Trails & Pavement Instagram page. So make sure to follow the page for some great running related quotes and more.
