Here is a short guide to a beautiful devotion to Jesus’ Passion called the “Chaplet of the Precious Blood.” It contains powerful prayers that can be prayed using an ordinary rosary.
Make the sign of the cross.
On the first large bead, recite the Apostles’ Creed.
I believe in God, the Father almighty, Creator of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried; he descended into hell; on the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty; from there he will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.
After that, say the following prayer:
May the Precious Blood that flows out from the Sacred Head of Our Lord Jesus Christ cover us now and forever. Amen.
For each decade of beads, there is a different wound of Jesus to meditate on.
1) The Nailing of the Right Hand of Our Lord Jesus.
Say the following prayer:
By the Precious Wound in Thy Right Hand and through the pain of the nail which pierced Thy Right Hand, may the Precious Blood that pours out from there, convert many souls and save sinners of the whole world. Amen.
Remaining on the same bead, pray an Our Father and Hail Mary.
Then on the small beads pray, “Precious Blood of Jesus Christ. Save us and the whole world.“
At the end of each decade pray the “Glory  Be.“
Glory be to the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit;as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
2) The Nailing of the Left Hand of Our Lord Jesus
Say the following prayer:
By the Precious Wound in Thy Left Hand and through the pain of the nail which pierced Thy Left Hand, may the Precious Blood that pours out from there relieve Souls in Purgatory and protect the dying against the attacks of evil spirits. Amen.
Repeat the same sequence as the first mystery.
3) The Nailing of the Right Foot of Our Lord Jesus
Say the following prayer:
By the Precious Wound in Thy Right Foot and through the pain of the nail which pierced Thy Right Foot, may the Precious Blood that pours out from there cover the foundation of the Catholic Church against the plans of the evil spirit and evil men. Amen.
Repeat the same sequence as the first mystery.
4) The Nailing of the Left Foot of Our Lord Jesus
Say the following prayer:
By the Precious Wound in Thy Left Foot, and through the pain of the nail which pierced Thy Left Foot, may the Precious Blood that pours out from there protect us from the plans and the attacks of evil spirits and their minions. Amen.
Repeat the same sequence as the first mystery.
5) The Piercing of the Sacred Side of Our Lord Jesus.
Say the following prayer:
By the Precious Wound in Thy Sacred Side and through the pain of the lance which pierced Thy Sacred Side, may the Precious Blood and Water that pours out from there cure the sick, bring repentance to the dying, and bring us to eternal happiness with God. Amen.
Repeat the same sequence as the first mystery.
At the end of the Chaplet, pray these prayers.
Hail, holy Queen, Mother of mercy; our life, our sweetness, and our hope. To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve; to thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this vale of tears. Turn then most gracious advocate, thine eyes of mercy towards us; and after this our exile, show unto us the Blessed Fruit of thy womb, Jesus. O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary! Pray for us, Oh holy Mother of God; That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.
O Most Precious Blood of Jesus Christ, we honor, worship and adore Thee Heal the wounds our souls and wash away the sins of the whole world. O Precious Blood, have mercy. Amen.
Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, Have mercy on us. Immaculate Heart of Mary, Pray for us. St. Joseph, Pray for us. Sts. Peter and Paul, Pray for us. St. John at the foot of the Cross, Pray for us. St. Mary Magdalene, Pray for us. All ye Saints and Angels, Pray for us.

In the end, when asked how Larian Studios had such great success in building a community of fans and maintaining their trust, Vincke leaned on Catholic social teaching. He told Games Industry in an interview:
“I’ll give you a very Catholic answer – treat your players as you would like to be treated, that’s it,” Vincke said. “We had the best marketing campaign in the world, which was our players talking about it. We had over a million players from the first week that were talking to their friends about the game.”

Nace Jordan for Slovenian online journal Aleteia
From performing at Ritem srca (Rhythm of the Heart) to Eurovision: "I value honesty the most"
03.06.2023
Interview with Nace Jordan, bassist of Joker Out
"Thank you, don't count on us..." This is a segment of their currently hottest song Carpe diem, taken out of context. Two weeks ago at Eurovision we were counting on them quite a lot. Despite finishing 21st they did not let us down, as we got to witness an energetic, playful and colourful musical delicacy.
We are glad you managed to take some time for Aleteia during the exciting post-Eurovision events. The youngest member of Joker Out according to length of service, and the wisest according to age, the likeable bassist Nace Jordan.
Congratulations for your wonderful Eurovision performance. Have you gone deaf due to the crowds that have excitedly welcomed you yet?
(laughter) We haven't gone deaf, but the reactions were very nice. We heard that people in Slovenia were watching and loudly cheering for us, especially during the semi-finals performance. All of this is very 'extra'.
Did anything disappoint you in Liverpool?
I can't say we were disappointed about anything. Maybe I would mention that they were promising us 'crazy' parties, which take place during Eurovision. They were great, but not as special as we were promised.
How long has it taken for the adrenaline to calm down after Eurovision?
Personally, I have not yet managed to recover from it all. All together it was very mentally and physically exhausting, but because of our love for music, we managed to pull through.
When coming home, was it difficult to switch from a huge event, where everything is about you, and come into a familiar, calm environment and simply go to the store?
We are lucky enough that since coming home from Great Britain, we have had so many things happen that we haven't yet had any time to lead a normal life, even to go to the store to buy something.
Currently we are positioned on various European charts. (Author's note: On the day of the interview (interview posted 03/06/2023) the group is fourth on the Spotify Global Viral chart; the only fellow Eurovision contestants above them are Finnish representative Käärijä and Swedish representative Loreen. Overall they have surpassed the 1,500,000 monthly listeners on Spotify. Source: evrovizija.com.)
Marvelous!
All of this feels unreal and nice and it gives us a lot of energy. In addition, many are beckoning us to concerts abroad. The dreams of each musician are to once spread from the narrow area of Ex-Yugoslavia to the markets all across Europe. We decided that we will risk it, since the people want to hear us. We announced a concert in Dublin which we will perform with our Irish Eurovision friends. Let me say that the concert was sold out in 20 minutes. These are truly 'insane' numbers, which are not letting us catch our breaths after Liverpool.
The excitement of the crowds does not surprise us. When and how did the members of the group even meet?
Bojan Cvjetićanin and Kris Guštin met at a performance in secondary school, where Kris was the reporter of the school newspaper. After a while, Bojan invited Kris and Jan Peteh into the band. After a while Jure Maček joined, and last year myself as well.
You came into the band last, yet it seems as though you've been with the boys since their beginnings in 2016.
That's right.
Nace, we have already managed to observe you well on stage. We see that you're all smiles, brave and energetic. How would you describe yourself?
Really? (laughter) I would describe myself as silent and smiley. Due to me being the oldest member of the band (Author's note: Nace is 28, the ages of the other members vary between 23 and 24), I have noticed that I have a different view of things than the other members of the band.
So the age gap is noticeable?
I think so.
In short, describe the other members of the band.
Bojan is intuitive, Maček playful, Guštin serious. And I can't describe Jan in any other way than saying that he is a pure artist.
Do you have other occupations, not connected to music?
I can speak for the entire band when I say that no one does anything besides music. Well, Bojan may occasionally appear in a commercial or two. (laughter)
What is the atmosphere among you? Do you trust and help each other?
No doubt, without it we couldn't have handled the pressure of Eurovision. Everything was easier because there were five of us. If someone was feeling down, the others noticed right away and gave him some space. Or offered him to talk - whatever he needed in that moment.
I liked it how you said at the press conference in Liverpool that you wouldn't consume alcohol before the performance. I have also noticed that you know how to express yourself in interviews. And we can't forget the fact that you sang in Slovene at Eurovision. Do you think it's important to maintain our language?
The fact that we sang in Slovene at Eurovision should say it all. We love Slovene and we find it the most appropriate for expressing ourselves, both in songs and conversation.
In the song Carpe diem, among other things, you sing about how you are against hate. How do you, as Nace Jordan, take steps toward a kinder society?
Let me correct that the song itself is not only against hatred, but it also talks about how we have to seize each day and look at the bright side. We ourselves are the only ones who have control over the fact that we wake up in the morning and make the best of the day. Personally, I make a person's day by smiling at them and consequently giving them a good feeling.
During your concerts, unexpected things are bound to happen. Would you let us in on any such event?
Not everything is of public nature. But I can mention that recently we had a concert in Umag. It took us a very long time to find the entrance to the concert hall. Luckily, we managed to find it right before the concert. We were really close to missing our own performance. (laughter)
Nace, Joker Out is not the first band in which you played. In the past you have collaborated with many Slovene performers, you are a member of Diamanti ('Diamonds' - the RTV house band) who take care of the musical accompaniment for the show 'V petek zvečer' ('On Friday Evening' - a show on Slovene national TV).
I don't know how much longer, sadly time is tight.
Your friends mention that you're a real-life 'jukebox', as you still remember the melodies of all the 200 songs that you performed during your times on the cruise ship.
That's true.
How was it, playing on a large ship away from shore?
When others went to study, I went to play on the ship. At that moment I chose to dedicate my life to music. This was one of the nicest and best decisions I've ever made. The half year spent on the cruise ship shaped me into the musician I am today. Living on a ship with so many people was a real school of interpersonal relations.
Was the music you performed always according to your taste?
Of course not, amongst the less favoured were for example German hit songs. (laughter)
I can't not mention that you were a member of the accompanying band at 'Ritem srca' ('Rhythm of the Heart' - festival of modern Christian music) and at the concert of 'Radio Ognjišče' ('Radio Fireplace' - a Christian Catholic radio in Slovenia). What is your memory of that experience?
I was looking forward to performing at Ritem srca this year as well. But sadly we had concerts and practice with Joker Out, so it wasn't possible. Ritem srca is one of the more pleasant festivals in Slovenia and I do not have a single bad experience with it. All participants were not only kind but also in good spirits and energetic. That is exactly what the world needs, it's 'carpe diem' in principle.
Who is the best performer of spiritual rhythmic music according to you?
I can mention Matej Šoklič, who I know personally. And Franci Rotar. Franci is a real 'character'. Every time I meet him he brightens and improves my day.
Speaking of spiritual music... Have you had to give up something that did not align with your personal beliefs during your musical career?
I avoid politics.
At the moment, Joker Out are a role model for many youths. What do you admire in a person?
It may sound cliché, but I appreciate honesty the most, both a frank critique and praise. With time I forget that I'm good at something, so it feels really nice when someone reminds me of it.
~

I was reading this fic for the past 4 days or so (it's by @aleteia-ff and it's so good) but the sequel to it is unfinished (which is understandable) and I started going through the comments of the last chapter and I got really pissed off
People have said it before and they will say it again but STOP COMPLAINING ABOUT AN UNFINISHED STORY
Be grateful you even got the beginning of it.
To every author whose work I've read, who I have been friends with, or even who I have tried but didn't like: thank you for taking the time and effort to try and share something so beautiful and personal. I struggle to leave comments because I worry I have nothing meaningful enough to say, but I try my best to comment at least once on everything. Even the stories that aren't my favorites because they are still so important.
As a writer, I know that it's hard to get the thoughts out of your mind and onto a computer in a way that other people understand. It takes SO MUCH time! And I also understand that life gets in the way.
But more than that, I don't think we as readers, as a fandom, should shame people for losing a connection to the story they are writing. If you lost a connection to the piece or the world, I get it, I wouldn't want you to force yourself. I would much rather have an unfinished fic that you enjoyed writing than a finished one that you hated writing.
Stop making people feel bad for an unfinished story. Be grateful you are receiving FREE content.
That's all I have to say ♡

do you have any fic recs for httyd/rtte?
Absolutely!!! I'm so sorry that this is so late lol (I'm gonna keep this restricted to fics that are about the gang for the most part. If there's a specific ship or character or smth you might want another list for, just lmk (I have a LOT of Snotlout lol)) These are all on ao3 btw!!!
These ones are mostly centering around the gang:
The Scars Of The Young by literallyjustanerd
This one's about the gang after httyd 3 just hanging out. A little angsty, but overall pretty positive. Ships are pretty background if I remember correctly
Where the Runaways are Running the Night (Series) by Faye_Claudia
I haven't read this one in a while, but it's a fic series with fic titles pulled from Greatest Showman songs. It's an au where Hiccup leaves Berk with Toothless, and the gang slowly comes over to his side before they stand up to Berk and the Red Death
King of Doing Stupid Things by mysteryninja98
This is some short fluff. The gang is just hanging out. I remember the dialogue writing being pretty in character for this one <33 (rtte time period)
This Story Is for the Birds by Emachinescat
Pretty similar vibe to the last one. Tuffnut finds a hurt bird and the gang nurses it back to health (rtte time period)
Longer fics that have the whole gang in them that I may or may not have not read yet:
A Thing of Vikings by athingofvikings
I've had this one rec'd to me a couple times, and I actually haven't gotten around to it. It's super long, but it's also Rise of the Brave Tangled Dragons if that's not your cup of tea
Phantom of the Arena by Aleteia
I actually have started this one. It's very similar to the Where the Runaways are Running the Night series in that Hiccup left Berk with Toothless, and it centers around him trying to save the dragons of Berk from afar. The writing is amazing and Astrid is so in character. I haven't gotten very far in this one, unfortunately. I read the first few chapters in one sitting though, it's that good. (It's based off of Phantom of the Opera and the chapter titles are pulled from the songs, but as someone who hasn't seen Phantom, you don't need it to understand the fic at all)
Hope this helps <333333

In the spring of 1878, General William T. Sherman opened a letter from his oldest son Thomas, a young man for whom he held great hopes. At 22, Tom had studied at Georgetown and Yale, and had graduated from law school. Sherman envisioned a bright future for Tom, one which would ensure the family’s security. The letter, however, left him shocked, distressed, even furious. Tom wrote that he wasn’t going to continue as a lawyer, but was joining the Jesuits that summer. The General told Tom in no uncertain terms that he had betrayed him, his sisters and mother, who looked to him for support in their old age. (He always felt his army salary didn’t go far enough.) It’s not clear that Sherman ever fully forgave his son. While Mrs. Sherman, a devout Catholic, was overjoyed, her husband held a lifelong skepticism toward religion in general and Catholicism in particular. Born Tecumseh Sherman to Protestant parents, he was orphaned early and raised by Catholic neighbors who insisted on his being re-baptized. His baptism occurred on June 28, 1829, the feast of St. William, and he was renamed William Tecumseh. But as his biographer John Marszalek notes, Sherman “refused to call himself a Catholic or practice that creed.” Yet his children were all raised Catholic. Ellen Sherman actively supported Catholic causes, numbering many priests, bishops and even cardinals among her close acquaintances. The General, however, frequently berated what he called her “unnatural fascination for the Church.” Born on October 12, 1856, Thomas Ewing Sherman was the grandson of one United States Senator and the nephew of another. His father, a central figure in the American Civil War, served for two decades as commanding general of the U.S. Army. Raised in Washington, D.C., among the nation’s political elite, through his mother Tom was on intimate terms with the country’s leading Catholics. Priests and bishops were frequent guests at the Sherman home. One family friend who made a strong impression on him was Father Peter DeSmet, a Belgian Jesuit who worked extensively with Native Americans. The General complained that Ellen “thinks religion is so important that everything else must give way to it.” He told young Tom: “I don’t want you to be a soldier or a priest but a good useful man.” Nonetheless, it was while at Georgetown that Tom became seriously interested in the Jesuits, who ran the university. But he went on to study law at Yale. After graduation, he practiced law for two years in St. Louis. By 1878, he had made his decision to join the Jesuits. Although his father felt he was shirking his family duties, Tom wrote his sister Minnie:
"People in love do strange things … Having a vocation is like being in love, only more so, as there is no love more absorbing, so deep and so lasting as that of the creature for the Creator. What a grand thing it is to be, as it were, shooting straight at one’s mark, living every hour, performing every action in preparation for the great hereafter."
The preparation program for the Jesuits can last up to a dozen years, and Tom started his novitiate, where he said his position “quite corresponds to that of a cadet in the army,” in England. Back in America, he studied philosophy and taught at St. Louis University, a Jesuit school founded in 1818. There he preferred public speaking to teaching, but he made a strong impression on his students, several of whom followed him into the Jesuits. As the son of a leading national hero, Tom Sherman was something of a celebrity, a man set apart. In 1889, he was ordained to the priesthood, but in a separate ceremony from the rest of his class. His mother’s close friend, Archbishop Patrick Ryan of Philadephia, performed the ordination. The event was national news, and Father Sherman looked forward to a promising career. While most Jesuits take up teaching or parish work after ordination, Sherman seems to have written his own ticket as a popular lecturer. His biographer Joseph Durkin writes that he “had a flair for the dramatic and an acute sense of the theatre.” One peer described him as “always hungry” for a podium. No doubt his name and background helped draw crowds. And draw crowds he did. In time, however, he butted heads with his superiors, who felt that fame might be going to his head. Durkin describes him as “a high-strung individualist of an extreme refinement of nature and a disposition unusually sensitive.” Ordered to take a break from the lecture circuit, he went over his superiors’ heads to Rome, and got a leave of absence from the Jesuit order. During the Spanish-American War, he obtained a chaplain’s commission without consulting the Jesuits. For several years, Sherman drifted from one Jesuit assignment to another until he suffered a nervous breakdown in his early 50s. Institutionalized for several years, he traveled around the country from one Jesuit community to another. “Having served in six provinces,” he wrote a friend, “I am attached to none.” In a fit of despair he wrote, “I am utterly at a loss what to do … no peace is possible for me.” In the fall of 1914, Sherman formally withdrew from the Jesuits. For several years, unattached to any diocese or religious order, he wandered around the country before settling down in Santa Barbara, California, where family members looked after him. For much of this time, Durkin writes, he was “allergic to the mention of the word ‘Jesuit.'” Just before his death at age 77, however, Father Thomas Ewing Sherman reconciled with the Jesuits and renewed his vows. After many years of unrest, General Sherman’s son died a Jesuit. He was buried in their cemetery at Grand Couteau, Louisiana. Interred next to him is Father John Salter, a nephew of Alexander Stephens, Vice President of the Confederate States of America.

Priest attends UFO hearing and gives a surprising interview
Aleteia By John Touhey August 1, 2023 Last week saw a UAP (Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena, also known as UFOs) hearing in the US Congress. It stood out for the sensational claims, made under oath, that craft of unknown, and possibly alien, origin not only have appeared in our seas and skies, but that some of these craft have crashed and are in the possession of the US government. When the world turns to shades of black and gray, pray to St. Jude.
Depression affects everyone at some point during their lives. Whether it is severe depression or something more mild, we all know that feeling of being alone and forgotten. It can take us down a dark path, one where there is little light at the end of the tunnel.
The good news is that God wants to lift you out of that rut and bring you into the glorious light of day. Prayer, matched with proper medical attention, can be a powerful aid in bringing a person out of the depths of depression into a new life of Christian joy. Below is a powerful prayer to St. Jude, a saint who was often forgotten throughout history because of his name (in Latin his name is “Judas,” but he is not the same person as Judas Iscariot). Jude is a constant intercessor for all hopeless causes and wants to help you in your need.
St. Jude, friend to those in need, I am weary from grief, without joy, without hope, struggling to find the light I know is in my soul. I turn to you, my most trusted intercessor. Take away this emptiness and the pain of my broken heart. In your compassion, help my tears to lead me to a place of peace in my heart. Too long have I forgotten the goodness of God’s world. Heal me. I yearn to feel light, to feel joy. Envelop me in brightness, and do not hold back. And I promise, if I receive these gifts, I will share them always in your name. Amen.
