Today is the 150th anniversary of Alessandro Manzoni's death, happened in Milan on May 22nd 1873. He has been an Italian Senatore of the Regno d'Italia and an important writer (you may remember the famous I Promessi Sposi), poet (you may remember "Il cinque maggio" he wrote for Napoleone's death) and playwright.
In Milan today there will be celebrations and tonight in the Duomo the Orchestra will play the Requiem composed by Giuseppe Verdi for the 1st anniversary of his death.
