For Mulder, the Belgium Malinois. Why? Driven. Obsessive, and look at that attentive lil face. Mulder runs and swims, and Malinois are a very active breed
This is x files characters as dogs btw
The rough collie for Scully. It's a classic, feminine dog, but it's also incredibly intelligent. It might also help the similarities bc of the Apricot coloured fur? Idk, kinda ginger
I don't have a good reason 🥲 hur hur I look kinda scary ig. Um, protective, up for whatever. Chill... but are they really?
This schnauzer looks responsible, and like if you fell in a river it would come and save you... what? Idk what I'm saying. The schnauzer wouldn't lose a stack of paperwork, and Skinner probably wouldn't do that either...
He ooks like an old dog that would talk about how great America is unprompted. Uh, greman shepherds can be vicious [and dangerous] if not socialised properly. I think I remember him killing for fun? Or wanting to?

Anyone wanna talk abt Agent Doggett?
Maybe I’m wrong but it seems like nobody ever talks about him. Personally, I liked him a lot, and I thought he was a relatively well made character. Was it Mulder’s absence that was too distracting from him? Or something entirely different?
Reblog with any Doggett thoughts 👍

This is my first watch through of The X Files and I'm on season 8 and you can tell that someone, somewhere, thought they could reboot the show/recapture the magic.
Observations:
the first regular episode of the season (8×3), Scully and Doggett deal with a weird animal/human and a decades old case. Tooms, anyone?
Obviously Doggett has some sad past with his (kidnapped? Like I said, first watch through) son. I'm almost surprised he and Scully don't have a scene like Mulder and Scully in the hotel room all the way back in episode 1. They're drawing parallels.
The pressure from the first season is back on: the FBI might shut down the X-Files, Doggett's job is to add a very skeptical eye to Mulder Scully's work.
How could I forget! Scully saying "you'll get used to it" after Doggett says he got weird stares upstairs. Cute parallel to FBI's most unwanted
In general Scully and Doggett balancing each other. Mulder and Scully forever of course, but I like that these early season 8 episodes get back to the idea that you need knowledge of the paranormal and a skeptical eye to work the X Files
Anyway, this is a long post to say that this reminds me of Grey's Anatomy or other long running shows that try to restart/reboot. It doesn't always work, but X Files season 8 is a good effort for sure.

This is not a hot take at all, but I just finished watching season 8 (for the first time) and I'm so frustrated!! I feel like it had real potential to be good, but they took it in every possible direction at once and explained none of it. And tbh Agent Doggett was the best part of this season, hands down. I really enjoyed his character, that was one good decision they made.

Agent Reyes and Doggett are AU Mulder and Scully and I’m so hoping they all end up working together. I’ll headcanon it if I have to

I know it doesn’t have symbolic meaning but I think Scully giving Doggett the conjoined coins would have been funny.
