Story - summarized

On an unusual autumn morning, Modric is visited by his neighbor, Mrs. Allen. She wants him to teach her son to play the piano. He sleepily agrees.

The boy is eager to learn, but he has trouble holding down the keys. Modric remembers when he was first learning to play. His teacher was mysterious, but unique in his teaching method. So, Modric decides to try it this time, too.

He brings the boy through the streets of the city until they reach the lake. The task is simple: throw stones out onto the lake, and make the ripples larger each time. Finally, the boy gets the hang of it, and he builds up the strength to press the piano keys.

Unfortunately, the lessons only last a few weeks. Modric receives notice that Nikki is in Miraland. She is another student of his teacher, so he hopes he can find her and, hopefully, find him. He leaves some sheets of music for the boy and says that he will be back to hear the boy play them for him.

Modric travels across Miraland, but he always just misses Nikki. Eventually, he winds up back in Pigeon Capital. He is surprised to hear of Duke Darrell’s passing and that he is expected to perform at the funeral.

Even more surprising, the little boy left a short melody for him in return. Modric can’t wait to see the boy again.

Connections

-Modric is Leonid’s student. In the Reflection for Leonid’s Prophecy, he reveals at the end that he met Modric as a boy and felt a familiar power. He wanted to bring back the God of Styling, so he decided to plant a seed of fate in the boy.

-Duke Darrell’s funeral is the connecting event between Nikki’s and Modric’s stories. It also connects Shining Nikki and Love Nikki, since the items necessary for blessing the coffin come from Lake Bovaly, which was a major location in Love Nikki.

Fun Facts

-This suit isn’t quite an NPC cosplay suit, as there are a few minor differences between this suit and Modric’s standard suit. But it is very close. Priestess Tess’ tarot suit is the first truly NPC cosplay suit.

-Modric’s profile reveals that he incorporates elements from all the places he has visited into his creations. Not just designs either, as he combines Pigeon tea with Cloud herbs for his secret specialty.
