We went on a walk today. We visited the Onkaparinga National Park and wandered through the bush for a good part of the day. I took my camera because it has been a while since I got snap happy outside of work. It is also spring here and all the wildflowers are blooming beautifully.
So, I decided to spam you all with today’s photos. Please bear with me as I throw an array of South Australian native plants and animals onto your feed.
To start with, this is a Caper White butterfly (Belenois java teutonia) and yes, I looked it up to identify it :D I have my own little library of books here to identify much of our wildlife. Ironically, this is actually a migrant butterfly and has likely bred interstate up north and migrated down into South Australia. I know we don’t see them very often, so I was excited when it posed for me :D

Mount Barker's Laratinga Wetland.........Crakes and Warblers
Dear Reader:
A small bird with vivid spots and dashes paddles out from the reed bed. A Spotted Crake, the first one I have ever seen.

For the next ten minutes I watch several of the striking birds as they dip into the water in search of aquatic plants and animals such as worms, crustaceans, molluscs, spiders and even small fish and tadpoles.

Yesterday, Kane and co posted about how the ‘Adelaide boys are still on top’, utilising a screen shot from the CCTV clip of their assault of the member of the community. This…is an approach…cos the thing is, the whole video is widely available, and we can all see how it ends with them running away (again), despite having cheap shotted their target to begin with. Even Kane’s mates have seen the whole thing, making his head canon efforts frankly inspiring.
Fans of the page will remember Kane from such incidents as his failure to get a flag off a communist before being mocked for it by other nazis, and running a facebook account bizarrely named for a rat from The Sopranos. He also likes to pretend he’s an eshay/soccer hooligan so that he can appeal to the young and impressionable boys that are his (and the greater NSN’s) grooming targets.

Some birds caught while mistnetting at Cleland Wildlife Park today! Our main target was superb fairywren (top), which have been studied in the park since 2008, but we also caught quite a few white-naped honeyeaters, crescent honeyeaters (bottom left) and New Holland honeyeaters (bottom right).
