Frat party.
the Alpha Kappa Rho house, c. 2016
(2/4)
transcript:
A: Look at youuu. Lookin' like a redheaded Ryan Reynolds over here.
?: What, me?
A: Yeah, you! Are you, like, one of the frat members here or whatever? Honestly, I dunno how all that works.
?: Pshh... Yeah, I am. Actually, my great-great grandpa founded Alpha Kappa Rho 60ish years ago. My family still owns this house, too.
A: Oh, really? So I just happened to come across the head honcho over here, wow! How 'bout that?
?: Ohh, I wouldn't say that, I'm more like a—
A: What's your GPA?
?: What?
A: You heard me. What is it? Just curious, you seem smart.
?: Um... 3.4, last time I checked?
A: Tsk, tsk. Listen—What's your name?
?: Daniel.
A: Listen, Daniel. I usually never offer this, but you're... cute. So, what if I told you I got something that could help you bring it up to 4.0 by the end of the semester, hm?
D: What exactly are you trying to do here?
A: Sell you something, is it working?
D: Ehh, that depends on what you're selling. Or who.
A: Yeah, you wish it was me. [whispering] It's a perfectly legal study aid that I'm just making more widely avail—
D: How much?
A: Do you... know what it is..?
D: Yeah, Adderall. Am I wrong?
A: [chuckling] Nope. Straight to business, I like that. So $45, 30 milligrams, brand name. And that includes the first-purchase discount of 25%, another discount if you spend $200 or more.
D: Huh. How can you prove it's brand name?
A: By the bottle, baby. Don't worry, it's prescription.
[loud, exaggerated humming]
D: Yeah, whatever. Fuck it, I'll take four of them. [laughing] Just don't let my dad know, yeah?
A: [stammering] Wh-wh— [whispering] God, not out here, dumbass! Goddamn, have you never bought drugs before?!
D: Shit, sorry. No, not really, honestly.
A: Come with me.

Hey re: you getting medicated, your doctor seems WILDLY incompetent? I’m not from Cali (from indiana if that matters), but literally I got my adderall prescribed by my primary care doc. Like, I got diagnosed by a psychiatrist (which did take 6+ months 🙃) and then took that diagnosis to my primary care doc (an additional 4 months later 🙃) and she said “sick ADHD diagnosis homie, would you like some honest-to-god name brand adderall about it?” Like I didn’t even ASK about stimulants first she just GAVE them to me. No drug test, no bs non-stimulants, just right to adderall. AND she said that BECAUSE I’m young & don’t have heart problems, adderall SHOULD BE SAFE. So like. The opposite logic of your doctor. Idk if it’s feasible for you, but if you can get a primary care doc or like,,, ANY other doctor, that might be the move because your current one sounds not only discriminatory but also straight up stupid and bad at medical decisions 💀 you don’t have to reply to this or anything, just wanted to share that you’re not wrong for wanting to bird attack your doctor because I strongly feel that he’s being difficult on purpose. I HAVE to believe that in California of all places (esp compared to Indiana LMAO) there’s better doctors out there for this, and I hope you find them!! Godspeed fellow ADHD comrade o7
my brother in hell i couldnt even get the name brand shit

You... want to do heroin and meth and shit. Just Cause. Yeah I do feel superior.
oh my god you are such a a massive fucking loser lol. doing drugs is not an inherently moral or immoral act, you aren't superior for being sober, and frankly you could really use a trip or two, maybe then you'll gain some empathy or at least like idk common decency. like are you not aware that it's absolute sideshow circus freak behavior to tell a rando you can't wait for them to die just bc they made a post about drugs? insane.
also I've already done meth (which when pure and taken orally is no more dangerous than adderall, it's even prescribed occasionally under the brand name desoxyn) & all I did was play chess in the park with old ppl on a nice sunny day for like 6 hrs straight. so scary!!1!

okay so since getting my new adderall prescription i've noticed that some days it works just fine and some days it does not work At All. 10mg usually makes me feel like my brain has shifted from neutral (gunning the stupid engine and getting absolutely nowhere) into first or even second gear but 3 of the last 10 doses have done precisely Fuck All.
i know there's been a national shortage since the start of the pandemic and like. i'm not trying to start a conspiracy here. but i also know i'm not the only one whose meds have become less effective in the last few months.
do i think they're putting less meth in the meth medicine? maybe. possibly. fda regulations allow for variances in the amount of active ingredients in a drug (iirc it's up to 20% depending on the medication) and it would not surprise me if some manufacturers are gliding just above the floor in that regard.
but also as someone who is extremely sensitive to the INACTIVE ingredients in medication (as in, generic birth control makes me want to rip my uterus out with a dull and rusty spoon but the name brand one only makes me crave rice pudding)... that could have something to do with it, too.
there is not enough accountability. not enough transparency. i am putting these drugs in my body that are supposed to alter the actual chemistry in my brain and i can't even trust them?? i hope there's a way for individual consumers to submit their medications for analysis because this shit is so bizarre and crappy and i just want to Function, y'know?

[2012 FootClan AU, FTM Casey and Shredder]
"It's Casey..."
His voice was soft at first, but he actually spoke up, something rare for him to do when Karai wasn't around to back him up. But Casey was tired of being misgendered by his father, that anger he was known for sparking, fingers curled into fists as he dared to speak back,
"I said, my name is Casey an' yer know that - I'm yer son, not yer daughter!"
| Muse interaction
Shredder strolled up toward his throne aggravated under the metal helm he wore. Unsure what was the most annoying issue and matter to handle right now. With that news about a ninja star begin found branded with an all to familiar symbol he knew. Saki had learned that he didn't finish the job in the end all those years ago. He should have made for sure that Yoshi perished in that fire. Because somehow that rat, was not only still alive but also keeping his own wrenched clan around. His men were turning into mutants left and right thanks to some unknown substance created the apparent alien life running around the city! His city that he had a hand in all dealings over. But these so called Kraang. It was putting a bit of a damp into his operations. Getting in the way of his main motive right now. His focus and resources were all pouring into one thing. Finding Yoshi.
Well they should be all focused on this one mission.
Taking his seat as he narrows his eyes towards the door waiting for Eve to walk through the doors. His eldest daughter of three, and apparently his daughter with the most outlandish train of thoughts here. He found the silver bottle by chance simply labeled as testosterone. How many times has he had to have this conversation with her? This was starting to become nothing more then a distraction. Doors opened as Eve was escorted by a few of his foot soldiers. She looked ridiculous with how she been dressing herself these days. As if the layering of her clothes was going to some how hide the truth. How she presented herself even. If it weren't for needing to up hold his image to his ninja he might make his thought far more known.
Instead, he simply closed his eyes as he waved a hand to dismiss his ninja. There was no need for them, waiting for the doors to close before he breathed out the annoyance he could only feel. Holding up the small silve jar in his hand. "What is this?" He more demands then asks, but his daughter seems to ignore the command she is being given here. Frocing his hand to grip the small bottle tigther in his hand. Slamming his hand down on to the arm of his chair demanding his daughters attention on him.
"Evealyn answer when I speak to you" He never had to raise his voice ordering his children even pit of acts of defiance seemed to get them to snap back into line.
"It's Casey..."
"What?" He didn't even jave a moment to think it over before he answered his disdain shoild be easy to pick up on how he said it though. He couldn't understand why this was getting worse. Why she even had this idiotic idea in her head. She was born a girl she doesn't just suddenly change this! "Evealyn." He sigh his disappointment just oozing over every letter of her name as he look back to the bottle in his hand.
Where did she even get this from?
"I said, my name is Casey an' yer know that - I'm yer son, not yer daughter!"
Sakis's attention snapped back to her. "Here, I was simply dispointed in my daughter's pour choices. But it seems I am to mourn my daughters death here tonight."
Saki moved to stand up now after he hardly stated as such. "Because that is the only way I am seeing a loss of my daughter here! Now, enough of this nonesense!" He raises his tone now as he holds out the small silver offending bottle of drugs. "Going behind my back and buying this? Do you even know if this is safe, Evealyn! This could just be a cheap knockoff! Did you even stop to think how it would react with the adderall you already take?" He poses here to his daughter, but she's not given much chance to speak anyway. "No, of course, didn't! It's likely already affecting and negating what you need, the more important thing here for!" He contuines to scold. "Now answer me, Evealyn!"
"I said, my name is Casey an' yer know that - I'm yer son, not yer daughter!"
Saki narrowed his eyes onto his daughter at the bold display of defiance being shown before him. Eve could sometimes when Karai was around be just as strongheaded as Karai was. But alone? Eve seemed dless likely which was the aim of the goal to achieve. Put an end to thi at last.
"I have no son." He stated coldly as he clouded eyes fell on to Eve before him. "I wouldn't even attempt to consider such a mockary" tossing the bottle down on the floor. As it rolled down towards his daughter. "To ever be a son of mine. Your lucky I haven't decided it means you wouldn't be a daughter of mine either!"
Saki nearly spits as he speaks out towards them. "I brought in a daughter name Evealyn into my home, my family. Instead of leaving you in the hell hole." As is Eve owned him to be his daughter for this one thing alone. "I gave you a home for you and your sister you fought so hard to keep safe." He's happy to remind her of. "I fed clothed and gave you both of you a roof." He contuines to lay out to what he sees is his clearly confused child here. "If you are not my daughter then I guess you are no mkre than a common foot spider of my clan."
Meaning less, the foot spilders all abandoned their identities unneeded when it came to severing under the heel of their clan leader. Their 'father' so to speak as they all looked to him from guidance and more. "And you know what I do to my ninja when they step out of line?" It was a faint vague threat, as the blades from his gauntlet slid out as he raised his arm to display them. But, the fact he hadn't stepped closer meant Eve had a chance to back down.
"Now stop woth this foolishness its nothing mkre then a distraction Evealyn. You know what we're doing here. You were ment to be scouting for any signs of the Hamato Clan not messing around with your deliousions!" He let the blades slide back as he turned his back on to her.
"Now get out I don't want to hear anymore about this. If you were to ever be accepted as my son? You would be such a disappointment to me now."

FDA warns of Adderall shortage
Joseph Choi Thu, October 13, 2022 at 5:51 PM·1 min read
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) posted news of an Adderall shortage this week, warning that manufacturers will not be able to meet the U.S. market demand at the current rate of production.
While several manufacturers are still producing and supplying Adderall and its generic variants, major pharmaceutical companies are currently dealing with issues affecting their production, said the FDA in its notice.
Adderall — the brand name for mixed amphetamine salts — is a drug commonly prescribed for ADHD and narcolepsy. The FDA said in its notice that “alternative therapies” for these conditions were available and advised that patients speak with a health care professional on what the best treatment plan would be.
Teva Pharmaceuticals, the largest U.S. supplier of Adderall, has been dealing with an ongoing supply disruptions since at least August. The FDA on Wednesday said the company was “experiencing ongoing intermittent manufacturing delays.”
Rhodes Pharmaceuticals, a subsidiary of Purdue Pharma, is experiencing a shortage of its 5 mg bottles of 100 tablets of Adderall. The reason for the lack of availability cited in the FDA’s post is “shortage of active ingredient.”
In early August, Teva told Bloomberg that the shortage was being caused by issues occurring at one manufacturing facility. The company warned at the time that these disruptions could lead to shortages going into the fall, which is what appears to have happened.

Research from the National Library of Medicine reveals that there are about 7.4 million people dependent on amphetamines (AMPH) globally. This growing dependence has made amphetamines the second most widely abused stimulant drug in the world after cannabis. But why are the statistics skyrocketing and what symptoms are indicative of amphetamine abuse? Keep reading to know. What are amphetamines? AMPH is a central nervous system stimulant that works by altering the reward system of the brain. It exists in powder, crystal, tablet, or capsule form. The powder ranges from white to brown and may occasionally have gray or pink traces. Capsules and tablets differ considerably in color and size depending on the manufacturer. Nonetheless, the drug has a poignant smell and is bitter. More often than not, when used illicitly, amphetamines may have impurities of binding agents, sugar, or caffeine. It is not uncommon for regular abusers of amphetamines to combine them with other drugs like alcohol, leading to the multiplier effect. How does it function? When taken, AMPH triggers the production of a neurotransmitter, dopamine, from the brain which brings euphoria and relaxation. Among other feelings associated with the intake of amphetamines are increased jolts of energy in the body, pleasure and motivation, higher concentration/ wakefulness, calmness, and a boost of self-confidence. Due to its effects, amphetamines are commonly prescribed in treating Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), anxiety, obesity, narcolepsy, and depression. However, when overused, they can be addictive. Common brand names for Amphetamines include: Adderall Vyvanse Dexedrine Concerta Methylin Ritalin Metadate They also are referred with the following street names: Black beauties Bennies Uppers Speed Crank Ice How long does amphetamine high last? The intensity of an amphetamine high significantly depends on the mode of ingestion. Amphetamines can be snorted, swallowed, or diluted and injected intravenously. The latter gives the fastest reaction time as the drug goes directly into the bloodstream and brain. When taken orally, AMPH may take about 20 minutes to hit. Generally, the stimulating effects of amphetamine can last up to 12 hours, although, this may vary depending on the type of AMPH. How long does amphetamine stay in your system? Certain factors influence how long amphetamine stays in your system, such as the body's metabolic rate, frequency of use, and the dosage consumed, among others. With these factors considered and depending on the method of screening, AMPH may be traceable anywhere between 2 to 90 days after use. It can be traced through blood, urine, saliva, or hair screening which detects amphetamine within up to 90 days while other tests are only effective for a shorter period of up to four days. How is amphetamine abused? Although amphetamine brings the feeling of euphoria, once the rush is over the victim experience a noticeable fall. Its side effects are experienced in high extremes, leaving the victim exhausted and irritable. Amphetamine prescriptions are usually predominantly oral. However, someone with the intent of abusing the drug may decide to either snort the powder or inject it to create an immediate, intense high. It is also abused as a study aid by students due to its ability to boost the brain’s alertness. Comparably, athletes may also abuse it as a performance-enhancement drug. Regular use of the drug predisposes the brain to develop a tolerance, whether it was used for medical reasons or recreation. As a result, your brain will require a larger dose to achieve the initial rush and eventually cause dependency. At this point, the abuser is consistently bingeing on the drugs and prevalent to amphetamine addiction. Blood screening is particularly useful in determining amphetamine abuse. Signs of amphetamine abuse Amphetamine is a hard drug to hide. Its abuse evokes certain behavioral, physical, and mental changes in an individual. Among these are:
Mood swings Hallucinations Insomnia Aggression Neglect of responsibilities Anxiety and increased paranoia Low appetite and weight loss High blood pressure and increased heart rate Doctor shopping for new amphetamine prescriptions Sudden loss of interest in previously enjoyed activities Mismatch in prescription and refill time of pills Prolonged abuse of amphetamines may result in problematic side effects such as: Brain impairment affects one’s thoughts, emotions, and behavior. Depression Seizures Short-term memory loss Malnutrition Convulsions Coma Possible risk of overdose Deteriorating mental health Strained social life. This often leads to broken relationships. Cardiac arrest Chest pain How to quit amphetamine abuse Like any other substance abuse disorder, it is always advisable to seek professional help if you decide to quit using. Otherwise, quitting cold turkey may lead to severe withdrawal symptoms which jeopardize the health and life of the abuser. Some common withdrawal symptoms associated with amphetamine include: Intense cravings Severe fatigue Random body aches which resemble flu-like symptoms Depression Suicidal thoughts An organized treatment plan will help ease your sobriety journey. Treatment plan Once amphetamine abuse develops into dependence, an intricate treatment program is called for. However, the abuser must first be willing to quit their addiction. Oftentimes a professional will put you or your loved one struggling with amphetamine addiction under a treatment program. This may involve attending therapy sessions and support groups. Additionally, this program will also help manage and alleviate withdrawal symptoms that may occur in the process. Always encourage the addict and support them through their journey – they need it now more than ever.

One of my patients today has been struggling with paranoia. Normally paranoia is a psychotic delusional symptom, but this guy's paranoia has been brought on by amphetamine abuse. Which meant he had very paranoid behaviors and delusions, without any of the other positive or negative symptoms that usually come with psychosis.
Concern was whether or not his wife was poisoning him, so, he was very focused on the results of his urine toxicology. We went through them together; positive for amphetamines, cannabinoids, caffeine, etc, stuff he wasn't surprised about. Then there was another drug I couldn't trace; it was eight syllables long, started with a P, and was obnoxious to try to pronounce. I had to google it while we were talking; Some kind of ingredient used in over the counter medications, like cough syrups. I asked him what over the counter stuff he'd taken since he was outside of the hospital, and he got this new, alert look on his face and said "None."
He ended up spending the next several hours on the patient phones making phone calls while I tried to sort out what on earth this medication was. It was such a long name, without a brand name, and so common in OTC stuff that I had to think it was utterly benign. But this is a fixation for this guy, and if we don't get to the bottom of it while he's here, we run the risk of him going home and attacking his wife.
Life's been difficult for both of them. They were apparently a happy couple up until the birth of their new baby, for which the mother's been suffering post partum depression and the dad's been abusing adderall. Otherwise great, now they're at each other's throats, and he's starting to make threats. So we want to prevent this from getting worse if it can.
The trouble is, I've never met this guy's wife. I hear all sorts of stories in this job. For all I know, maybe she really is trying to poison him. So I can't tell him "Oh she definitely didn't," because I don't know, and I would never say "Oh I promise she's trying to kill you" unless I had a smoking gun. But this guy's paranoia was so bad, he was convinced it was, in fact, a smoking gun.
This just led to me spending a few hours this morning making phone calls to pharmacists, toxicologists, convening with the doctors personally, and even talking with state poison control. Lots of different suggestions and possibilities of where the drug came from, with promises of looking into it from supervisors. One person from poison control actually worried me; They talked about how the drug was apparently discontinued for human use in 2000 by the FDA, but could still be found in medications prescribed by Vets. I was absolutely NOT about to let the patient hear that possibility!
A few hours later I finally got a call back from the doctor of toxicology, who explained pretty simply; the ingredient is a byproduct of the production of adderall. That's why it showed up in the expanded urine drug screen by itself; if his wife was slipping him something else OTC, it would also be showing up in that expanded report, after all. I told the patient, he had a deep breath, thanked me for all that leg work. He actually took his first antipsychotics from me half an hour earlier, too. Seemed like he was willing to accept, "Okay, it's me. It's not my wife, it's me. I'm the problem."
The attending physician actually thanked me for alerting them to the new fixation on the mystery drug by the patient, because they'd been trying to work out whether he was safe for discharge this morning. This discovery indicated he wasn't yet. Got some pats on the back for how I handled all this actually!
His wife actually visited him tonight though, along with his parents. Looks like everyone wants to forgive each other and work together to get past this. I'm all for it.
