He tries to remove his emotions out of the narrative soooo much, literally the most repressed guy ever. Okay so for context orv is about how this guy, Kim Dokja, has been the only reader of an obscure post-apocalyptic webnovel for years and the novel suddenly becomes reality. And at first you'll probably get the weird impression that his behavior is pretty strange for, you know, a literal apocalypse happening in his world - like yes, he is concerned with survival but he doesn't seem all that scared and he kinda treats it like a video game where he has to grind to make himself stronger and he also treats his companions like a party in an rpg. Then there's also the way he approaches the protagonist of the webnovel, from the start he just kind of describes him as a ruthless psychopath and jerk that is unfortunately a pretty useful ally. And also there's the fact that he carefully omits any mention of his past and when somebody asks if he's worried about his family when the apocalypse starts he just kinda... brushes it off? Anyway so yeah, this bastard is definitely traumatized, although I don't know how much of spoiler territory that would be, considering the fact that literally when he first reveals his trauma he's also unreliable about it. And turns out he does indeed, care A LOT about this world and the people around him. Because well, he kinda didn't care to mention that this webnovel that has become reality was like... literally his whole world before it literally became his whole world. Like, it was the only thing keeping him going for 10+ years and the protagonist that he likes to call a stupid jerk was his comfort character who he pretended to be when he felt like he couldn't handle something in his life by being himself. The protagonist is also canonically the person he loves the most according to a prophecy and he literally can't fathom the thought of him dying, even the timeline versions of him that directly oppose him. And I haven't even mentioned the Fourth Wall yet but I feel like this propaganda is a little long already

misreading the intentions of his companion (yoo joonghyuk) so many time.

he is the worst like actually. he starts the story talking about how normal and average he is. he is not. he is constantly mischaracterizing his friends and he's so good at lying to the readers that you don't even realize it at first. almost every single time he cries we have to be told by other characters because he never says it himself. there is literally a scene where his narration says "i wasn't crying" and then the in-universe entity that narrates the actions of people (orv is really weird and meta) says that he was, in fact, crying. honestly genuinely anything he says about himself (or doesn't say) cannot be trusted. he is just so frustrating. he drives me mad. i love him dearly. but he drives me so mad.

Dictionary definition of unreliable narrator. Does not tell the reader anything and then things happen and he's like oh yeah btw there was also this and this earlier but i just didn't feel like mentioning it. There's even a thing called the "Fourth Wall" that is able to see through kdj's bs so occasionally you get gems like,

Imagine being so unreliable as a narrator you need a more powerful narrator to call out the actual narrator.

This goes into spoiler territory, but; Kim Dokja is in possession of a skill called the Fourth Wall, which on the surface seems like it appears because he read the book that reverse-isekai’d into his own. However, as the story goes on it becomes clear that it’s pretty much a souped up version of his pre-existing dissociation. You cannot trust him to be honest about his feelings, his past traumas or his feelings about his past traumas, not to mention his tendency to just outright omit information that only gets revealed later on either when it becomes relevant or when an outsider POV reveals what’s actually happening.

Exhibit A: he says (in 1st person POV) that he’s not crying. The Fourth Wall immediately contradicts this (as it is literally words of the novel) by saying (in 3rd person POV) ‘Kim Dokja was crying’.

Exhibit B: Fails to mention entire actions when it shows him emotionally honest even in the slightest; we had to read from another character entirely when Kim Dokja was being physically affectionate with his companion. It’s so bad that there’s this entire paragraph about Kim Dokja describing himself hiding his eyes in his hands in jerky, weirdly specific detail and just AVOIDING EVERY WORD THAT MIGHT SHOW HE’S CRYING. The brilliance of ORV is that when you re-read the entire thing you get hints that ‘yes, this WAS hinted at the entire time’ but you have to dig it out of Kim Dokja’s repressed, depressed self-hating internal dialogue with your own two hands.

i am a simple man (not a man). i see a tumblr text post with the words “unreliable narrator in it”. i read nothing else. i reblog & tag #kim dokja okay but in all seriousness i’m just going with the musty basic example: so there’s this moment where he sacrifices himself to save this guy. as he lays on the ground bleeding out, he says “hey, you don’t like me, right? you should kill me to get some money” the guy says “no kim dokja i cant do that (going through the five stages of grief except there’s only one and it’s anger)” the constellations (twitch viewers irl) are like omg he (the guy) doesn’t want to kill his companion (kim dokja) and shower him (the guy) with money kim dokja: oh, he’s not killing me for the money. smart!

as i quote a brilliant youtube video (all of omniscient reader’s viewpoint in 6 minutes) “yoo joonghyuk sees kim dokja as a c_____”

Hides his true feelings, tells the readers what he thinks is convenient for the plot and that his own personal feelings don’t matter or are not so significant. Has unreliable thoughts abt his companion and is a liar. And is also an omniscient reader.

Kim Dokja always perceived his companions in this like nonchalant way like “oh yeah we get along but really we’re just fighting to survive (apocalypse setting) it doesn’t run that deep” when they all do genuinely care for him and he does in turn. He just, doesn’t think of it as an equal relationship? Dokja’ll sacrifice a lot for them but will get seriously flabbergasted if they do the same thing, so fricking problematic. Not to mention Yoo Joonghyuk, his “Life and Death Companion” (read: husband). Kim Dokja always seems to think that Joonghyuk has it out for him, which is kinda true, but he is literally blind to the fact that he’s attached to him. Like, it’s so obvious??? Also they have hella sexual tension but that’s another thing entirely

se get some many pov changes where kdj in his pov just assumed things based on what he knew the characters would do. however because of his interference the characters have changed and he wouldn’t know that if it hit him in the face

He's an unreliable narrator because he lies to himself and thus the audience. He literally rewrote his own childhood core memory. If someone says, "this guy is my friend!" He will go through so many hoola hoops in his mind just to rationalize it. Because he fundamentally believe that no one could love him and even if they did they couldn't know him and he's just gonna hurt them. He cries sometimes in canon but a lot of those times it's not even mentioned as crying he's that unreliable of a narrator. No joke, one time this guys he has a gay thing with called him his "companion" to someone who had just killed him (long story) and this bitch thought "oh wow he's doing it for the coins (another long story) he's so smart i wish I'd thought to that. He's terrible. He literally has an exchange with something called the Fourth Wall (an even longer story) where it said "you're crying" and he said "no I'm not" but he was crying. He makes me insane because the reader is supposed to project onto him. He made me see how much of an unreliable narrator I WAS. ORV is just like that tho.

Flower Symbolism in Trigun

Okay so I've been going insane in the last few hours since the new episode of Stampede and I needed to share my very incoherent thoughts.

So here we go: (please excuse my grammar, I'm typing this up in an absolute craze)

Please note, there are major spoilers here

[Plant in context to Trigun will be capitalized btw]

I want to start off by pointing out the whole idea with calling the creatures that Vash and Knives are as 'Plants' and 'seeds' in the first place--that in itself is so much. Not to mention Noman's Land is a desert plant with little to no flora at all.

The idea and symbolism of life and rebirth presented with the idea of plants. Like how flora are usually the first type of lifeform to come back post mass extinction events. How plants are primary producers in the food chain, how life couldn't be sustained without plants giving up oxygen, food, and converting the sunlight into energy/sugar. Despite being giant moth flower humanoid creatures, the Plants in Trigun are doing essentially the same thing. Except they aren't renewable and they might also be sentient.

In addition to that, in media, seeds are usually a representation of hope. And in this case, a seed pod carrying the hope of humanity. I've been likening it to dandelion seeds. I don't think our group of guys were the only space-fairing fleet that was sent out from Earth.

I don't know how much of this symbolism is intentional and how much of it is completely accidental, but boy howdy is it there and am I going to eat it up.

Geraniums!

First off, the most obvious one is geraniums. The flower is very much thrown into our faces. What does it mean?

Okay so there's like 400 types of geraniums out there, they're not like a specific species- and when people say 'geraniums' it usually also includes pelargoniums which are a different genus. But you're not here for me to monologue about flower classification-

Well, operating under the assumption they're using the most common type of red geranium, which, funnily enough is not a geranium but rather a pelargonium. Pelargonium x hortorum. Commonly known as zonal geraniums or garden geraniums. I don’t know if I even need to expand on the idea that Vash and his story (and the Plants in general) are represented by geraniums. If the red coat wasn’t already a giveaway, I think the newest episode definitely makes it very clear. Well, first off I think it's interesting that they’re not ‘true geraniums’ (different genus, same family). Like how Vash and Knives look human but aren’t ‘true humans’.  

(Did you know geraniums can reproduce asexually via their roots by just…sprouting a new plant? It’s called clonality. Anyways yeah, I’m too lazy to expand on it but there it is. You can probably see the connection I'm trying to draw here)

Furthermore, let’s look a little bit into what geraniums represent. So according to the vast knowledge of the interwebs (I will put the links I used at the bottom.) geraniums are “attributed the powers of love, peace, healing, elegance and spirituality. They mostly have desirable symbolizing meanings, including fertility, health, joy, protection, frustrations passing away, and true friendship.” Red geraniums in particular are attributed to protection and ward against evil., spiritual beings and saints. “The geranium flower was a symbol of prosperity in Egypt, longevity in Japan, and immortality in China”. *Stares at Vash and Knives*. Gods…immortality…saints. Alright Nightow, I see you.

Look, I’m not done here. DURING THE VICTORIAN ERA geranium took on a slightly more negative meaning. Envy, deceit, folly, foolishness and stupidity. Although they were also seen “as ‘horticultural bourgeoisie’ and a sign of ‘crudeness and thoughtlessness of taste’. Geranium became a symbol of industrial mass culture.” This was probably unintentional (and if it is intentional, holy fuck.) but the idea that Earth in Trigun was destroyed by the folly of humans because if mass industrialization? Hello???? OKAY.

There’s just so much history with geraniums. I’m STILL not done. Let’s talk a little about geraniums and Christianity, yeah? You know, the thing that Trigun is chock full of symbolism of.

So first off, tradition. (I am not Christian, nor do I know much about Christianity, I just did some research on the topic so feel free to correct me.) I do believe there is a tradition to buy and gift red geranium on Good Friday? (I can’t find a very credible source about this, just some blog posts so idk) And the red is to represent the blood that Jesus sacrificed for the people. How he was beaten and bloodied because of his love for the people. How…he was given a purple cloak that turned dark with blood while he was mocked. 

Sound familiar?

Do we want to talk about Vash’s red coat turning black in the latest episode? Or maybe how traditionally dying Plants are red and healthy ones are blue? But Vash keeps himself covered in red?

Now, here’s an interesting fact. Did you know, wild geraniums look very different from the ones people like to commonly grow in their gardens? This is the spotted cranesbill (Geranium maculatum), the most common wild geranium. Look, maybe I’m stretching it here, but cultivated Plants vs independent Plants, anybody?

Anywho, not the point I was trying to make. Did you know another common wild geranium is called the Saint Robert’s Geranium? Robert’s? While no one really knows who the ‘Saint Robert’ the flower is named after, it has a very fun symbolism. Check this. The seed pod of this flower supposedly looks like the beak of a stork, which had people believe that they could help a couple who wish for children with fertility when used as an amulet and placed under the bed. cough Ep 11 pregnancy scene cough. Apparently, medicinally they’re also used to staunch blood flow from wounds. Despite that, in certain regions, it was seen as an ill-omen plant associated with death because snakes would often hide in its leaves. Snakes? Like…in Adam and Eve? Like as in temptation? As in Knives and Vash?

Okay last bit on geraniums. Just a little on the colors. In episode 11 of Stampede we see the giant plant root monster thing blooming flowers. I have assumed that they are black geraniums, aka Geranium Phaeum 

aka mourning widows. Of course, I could be wildly wrong but the meaning of this is fun so hear me out. While there doesn’t seem to be a direct meaning for black geraniums, we can clearly draw some conclusions on the common name for this flower. Like seriously, mourning widow? They’re also known as dusky cranesbill and black widow. Obviously associated with death (and grief?) and apparently maybe marriage??? Doesn’t help that geraniums can be considered a traditional bridal flower too. I think they’re also associated with melancholy. Anyways, on the other hand, blue blooms usually symbolize calm and peace while purple blooms symbolize royalty, accomplishments and admiration. 

So in context to the blooms we see at the end of ep 11, grieving for the loss of someone (Rem, his memories), rising to his Plant roots (haha get it?) and being ‘at peace’. 

HEY LET'S TALK ABOUT DOGWOOD

So I remember reading somewhere that he’s named after a singer or band or something but– His name is so close to dogwood that I could not pass it up.

Dogwood is a blooming tree that seems to have a representation in Christianity. There’s a legend about the tree and Easter. So apparently, the cross that Jesus was crucified on was made from Dogwood, because of such it was cursed and blessed. Cursed to be small so it can’t be used to make another cross but blessed to bloom beautiful flowers at Easter time.

The flowers of the Dogwood trees always bloom with four petals, like a cross, the center like a crown of thorns. Each tip of the petal is indented like it's been pierced with a nail and discolored like it was stained with blood. So goes the story. 

I think it's interesting that Wolfwood’s name is so likened to this flower/plant and I don’t believe this is unintentional. LIke it’s right there. Cursed by the Eye of Michael to grow too fast, blessed to be strong and hard to kill. Is/bears the cross that brings Vash to Knives in the end. 

Lilies (and other Flowers)

So, I personally think the plants look a lot like lilies. And lilies are commonly attributed to the virgin Mary. They typically represent purity, innocence and rebirth. They are often gifted at mourning flowers as well and are one of the most popular flowers at funerals.

Either that or the blue-eyed Mary flower, which has less meaning attributed to it other than its name.

Man, that recent episode of Dungeon Meshi hits hard...

Makes me think very, very deeply about the entire narrative and the meaning of it all, the very meaning of life with how the food chain functions and how fundamentally INESCAPABLE the ecosystem is... that a human being can be so easily seen as a mere nourishing bundle of fat and sinews...

This tonal shift also does make me think about ULTRAKILL as well. Now this may seem like a bit of a stretch, a jump, (especially since I am not caught up on the narrative of Dungeon Meshi), but hear me out (Violence Spoilers ahead btw)

ULTRAKILL is fundamentally thematically about Violence, and a certain kind of it. The Violence that reduces a human being to a splatter of blood, the Violence of a machine who is inherently DEFINED by Violence, how the entire Violence layer is the game's narrative way of cementing the implications that your actions have had over the course of the entire game.

Now my thoughts would be messy, trying to compile the thematic bombshell that is Layer 7, Violence, so I will focus on the part that hit me harder than anything else:

1000-THR "Earthmover"

Just the name alone is so loaded, a Machine so large it causes one's perception of their surroundings to fade away, and stand in awe of this singular, perfect pinnacle of Violence, a machine that stands at the apex of the arms race of the final wars, a perfect representation of Violence, for it is a being that is defined by Violence so completely, and so perfectly, that it really is the only way it could have ended. What hits me about it so hard is that throughout all of Violence, the game has been hitting you over and over again with the impact and implications of your actions, but with the Earthmover? That's just... everything...

1000-THR "Earthmover" has left nothing left, 7-4 "...Like Antennas to Heaven" hits so colossally hard that it's hard to get all my thoughts into words, it feels like an impossibility almost. But one thing I can say is how beautifully it paints the horrific meaning of "Blood is Fuel" when it's exhaust vents are opened up.

That moment, when the music in the background changes from a quaking, all encompassing song of Violence, to a towering, harrowing lament, as if to draw attention to what the Earthmover is... the way the smoke that comes out isn't white like steam, or black like coal or oil, but is RED. There is not a single part of this machine that is built for Violence, that is not fueled by Violence. Crushed Bone and Cut Sinew are the only things that can define it. It's not so much a travesty that it exists this way, but with how complete it is conceptually with it's Violence, with how it came into existence in the first place...

God I am saying a lot here but I really do hope what I'm saying strikes an accord. Dungeon Meshi is such an insanely fucking good narrative, and ULTRAKILL probably has one of my favorite narratives (and just about everything) that I've seen presented in a game. Ever.

2023 has come to a close so that means it's time for my year in review! i've been a gif maker on tumblr for more than two years now and this account keeps growing and getting so much love. im so grateful for all of my (jong)homies and mutuals that have let me get to this point and have fun along with it. like, i hit 1k and 2k followers in the same year! thats fucking rad!

i giffed a lot more this year than last and i think it's because i was finally able to get ps and vapoursynth near the end of 2022. my confidence soared as a result. not to get mushy, but this year on tumblr has been amazing because of that. :( this was the first full year i felt like a "real" and "competent" gif maker because i finally was using the tools that everyone else was using and i knew how to use them. thats a big thing for me, because for so long i struggled with figuring out how to download vs (and ps) (on mac btw) and i felt jealous that everyone else could do it so "easily." ps and vs are also really unintuitive if you dont know what youre doing so to basically brute force my way to success is something i want to pat myself on the back for. i did this. im insane. and now ive been properly expressing my insanity via gifs for over a year now that ive been so proud of! yippie!!!! as a result of my Trials and Tribulations, ive been thinking about creating tutorials for how to download ps, vs, and how to properly use ps to make gifs for those that dont even know where to begin now that i am a Seasoned user. bc i fucking get it. let me lend a hand.

it's 1 am, anyway time for walkthrough of my entire rewatch of czech it out. as my brain slowly melts into pieces. get ready for a long-as-shit post.

EPISODE 1!!!!!

can i say. first of all. wtf are these graphics. what were they thinking and why does it kind of work with the atmosphere.

second of all. introduction of the coffee. does carzzy like coffee? is that his coffee? who made the coffee? all differs depending on the video.

introduction of the smiley "i agree to anything carzzy says" humanoid. he has that rookie vibe here like he's very unsure of himself but oh boy marek, carzzy is not a stable anchor.

also, carzzy calling humanoid "marek brazda" every chance he gets, istg. he 100% says it just because he loves how it sounds. brazzzzda.

cut to carzzy calling him unskilled and we get the classic "i've been insulted by carzzy" face. i love that he has these patented modes. so far we've had "carzzy loml you can never do anything wrong (meant ironically)" and "carzzy loml 🥺🥺 spare me anything sir i haven't but a penny" (it has been 40 seconds)

face is exemplified when carzzy goes out of his way to place his cup on (what i assume is) humanoid's desk, cause of course he does.

humanoid gets asked a question about mid and so carzzy is RESPECTFUL and lets humanoid speak.

i realize at this point there are so many things to point out but i'm too lazy to screencap them. first of all, carzzy complaining about pantheon/taliyah and humanoid who was not listening at all just going "nice :)" and carzzy also needs a moment to register and then goes. Heathers (1889)

my heathers obsession i think was what first got me into horror which quickly transformed into my gothic horror obsession so im honestly shocked i haven't made this earlier in the past 3 years.

Despite it being set in the 1980s, heathers literally has all of the gothic tropes and themes etc its so insane

The way the underlining theme is how young people's agency is repressed and how they aren't taken seriously and instead expected to obey their elders is literally the basis of Queen Victoria's beliefs. She and Reagan had SO MUCH IN COMMON. those facists are probaly fucking raw in the bottom layer of hell somewhere

ANYWAY the whole of the show/film really hits different if you think about it in the victorian era

I forgot to say: This version is absolutely set in England. Western society in America back then was more about themes of progress and such- although white people back their were just maintaining the same genocidal colonialist principals as the british (cuz they were), they thought they were being soooo cool and progressive which is thematically irrelevant to heathers

BACK TO THE TOPIC: in the musical most of the teen's emphasis in wanting to grow up. ie have autonomy vs Martha being accociated with childlike imagery- really emphasises the division between 'adults' and 'children' Victoria was so fond of

I don't actually know what age ppl were considered adults but i think Martha would wear more childish clothes like this- exept she would absolutely wear white representing her innocence

In contrast, the other girls would wear women's clothes

Jason Dean's black trenchcoat translates really well to Victorian era fashion

Veronica's heatherified outfit would have a prominant bustle- a newer style

In contrast Heather Chandler would wear a more traditional longer gown- like how she represents the older more bougeoise regime of Queen Victoria according to JD which needs to be destroyed

Speaking of which there are SO MANY parallels to heathers and picnic at hanging rock- (which is set 11 years later but whatever) JD is the rock

I do think Chandler's general vibe of the 'blonde popular girl who's doomed by the narrative' whose idolised after her death is 100% from Miranda btw

but also her position in the narritive reminds me of Mrs Appleyard

I think to make Heathers more gothic there has to be more of a clock motif than there already is

Also i can't belive i forgot to say this but the ideas of Madness and depression and shit. i can't spend all day writing these but they're There.

The one problem i have here is that schools in Victorian england were ABSOLUTELY not as diverse as schools in 80s america ie. ppl of different genders/class would never go to the same place

my brain only actually fixated on um. one of them. one of thsoe disaster master fuckers. noisemaster!!!!! wooooo ( the guy in my pfp hes cool )

theres 7 of them and 7 kingdoms, and each disaster master is assigned a kingdom

except theres no disaster master in the donut kingdom because thats where their creator ( dad??? ) kinda. lives. and 2 in the melody kingdom because there used to be 2 seperate kings ruling over that one kingdom, king bass and king treble

silly little fact um. noise and mutemaster r the disaster masters for the melody kingdom . aaannd in the physical book since theyre a webcomic and a normal book,, theres little facts at the end?? rhythm ridge ( where noise and mutemaster live now ) used to be bassville,, which is where king bass lived . noisemaster canonically kicked a king out of his own castle ( presumably just because he wanted to ) and forced him to relocate to a new town, organetto, where he was then overthrown AGAIN by some other guy,, count legato

basically their job and only purpose in life is to destroy their assigned kingdom

and they fucking suck at their job ( kind of )

the nightmare knight ( nk ) ( also their dad / creator ) has basically been sabotaging all their efforts because after the first or second cycle ( theyve been trying for around 500,000yrs, 100 times,, 5000 years inbetween each cycle ) nk basically realized. he wanted to be apart of that world

he didnt like actually want to destroy it anymore!! hes mentioned to have " watched friends and family with longing " ( page 694 ) and whenever that cycles hero actually came to defeat him . he offered the guy peace and he refused

ever since hes basically been stuck in a loop because if he stopped being evil and like. making people fear him. he would lose the power he needs to sustain the disaster masters,, basically murdering them

and he cant really tell them anymore because its been so long and it would mean all those years just went to waste!!! he actually. does try to tell one of them. quakemaster ( disaster master of the crystal kingdom ). he doesnt react well and nk ends up having to murder him

THANKFULLY theyre immortal they cant die theyre ok . they just revert into these cute little marble things until all 8 of them ( nk has one too ) are like put on some table and theyre alive again

noisemaster,,,, shouldve won . despite being the second weakest . hes like really cool

nk doesnt actually care how they try to destroy their kingdom as long as they try, and noisemasters approach is

to build a giant fucking gun, kidnap the princess of that kingdom, and, since shes known for being insanely loud, power the giant gun with her voice

this is the gun btw its shaped like a microphone hes insanely extra he does this a lot

long story short,, everything goes according to his plan . kind of . he gets electrocuted and mutemaster gets knocked out but other then that everything works out . he gets the princess ( piano ) to scream one more time, since by the time cucumber n the others ( theres 3 more of those fuckers ) actually get to rhythm ridge, the gun was already at 99%,, and it fires

HE SHOULDVE WON it pisses me off so bad . last minute, nk basically creates a barrier around trebleopolis ( the main city in the melody kingdom, and the one the gun was pointed at )

and. its so obvious it was made by him. its so obvious noisemaster knows.

yk if you combine this with information from the later chapters its actually somehow worse!!!

nk threatens quakemaster later with being cursed like mistmaster ( disaster master of the sky kingdom ) since mistmaster " surrendered to the heroes " ( he didnt,, mist actually just found out that nk was sabotaging them ) which. maybe implies all the others are threatened with this too .

they all have the worst daddy issues known to man imagine finding out your dad has been sabotaging exactly what hes threatening you to do ☠️☠️☠️

its also um. implied noisemaster actually enjoyed his job. which means that next cycle is gonna fucking suck for him.

he khs after failing btw . kind of . its not that bad actually he just reverts back into his little marble but thats like his version of that since he cant actually die

Elden Ring thoughts because I’ve been watching Woolie play it and thoughts keep poppin’ up somethin’ fierce

It’s fucked up of Castle Sol to have eclipse imagery after how much Dark Souls 3 made me worry so much about the game ending on a similar note

At the same time though if there is a connection between Souls and ER like people theorize I really fucking hope Elden Ring is in the FFAAAAAARR future because I honestly cannot handle it being a prequel because I cannot emotionally handle everything just leading to the literal wasteland that is the Dark Souls 3 DLC

Also btw, nobody’s been talking about it but the Elden Beast arena is literally surrounded by Erdtrees so that really makes me think that Erdtrees are possibly corrupted Archtrees from Dark Souls, like you fight it in a lake with a bunch of trees around so like, it’s not impossible?

Also it’d make sense considering the fact that after everything in the Souls Games, Ash Lake still fuckin’ exists?? Like it never disappeared or got destroyed or anything it just kept existing because nobody knew it even existed besides the Chosen Undead and uh, I don’t know if they’re still around, personally. And also it’d be fitting for the main driving force of the plot to have taken over the dregs of what came before and just infecting it. It’d also go with the theme of creatures taking refuge in that which came before like the claymen infesting the old cities, the creatures taking refuge in the Haligtree, etc

Man Albinaurics have it rough. They either wander Liurnia and can’t talk, get killed for existing in their village if they’re first generation, try to find their way to a land that they don’t even know if it exists for certain, or live in a Dynasty based entirely off of blood-worship… which ironically is the only one where they’re not actively in danger. Like it’s weird how the Albinaurics in the Mohgwyn dynasty are just, chilling??? Like it is a really dangerous place and there’s probably some dead ones or smth I missed but like, it seems chill? So yeah points for Mohg for doing more for the Omen and Albinaurics than Morgott did? Still pretty fucked up for that Miquella stuff though.

Speaking of, it actually does kind of make sense for Mohg to feel a sort of kinship with Miquella. Not only did they both have the same mother, they both tried to create new sorts of orders outside of the Golden Order, Mohg with his dynasty and Miquella with his Haligtree. Along with that is their use of blood in pursuit of their goals, specifically their own. Miquella uses his blood to try and spur the Haligtree to grow, and Mohg embraced his own blood in order to rise above the Order, so it’s not improbable for Mohg to have heard that and decided that Miquella could be useful

Also keep in mind Mohg is still definitely a fuck and I don’t wanna excuse ANY of the shit he did

I think a lot of people disregard the fact that like, a majority of the Runebearers are insane. Like not just Radahn, but like it’s made clear that almost, if not all of them were driven insane by the Great Runes and tainted by them according to Enia, and if I had to guess it’d be due to how long they’ve had them. Hell the only person who may be ok is Malenia and that’s just because she’s been in a coma for fucking forever. And keep in mind that likely includes Miquella, because when bringing up missing demigods Gideon says Ranni doesn’t matter because she discarded her great rune, implying Miquella does, so he’s probably a bit insane too. But overall it adds more depth to the demigods’ actions like Godrick possibly having had those ambitions before but them being enflamed by the great rune driving him mad, Morgott’s self-hatred and fixation on the erdtree maybe being stronger than it was because of the Rune, etc.

THIS FUCKING SHOW. this show is so INSANELY well directed, so perfectly cast, and i have literally gasped and slapped the space bar at reveals (guest star reveals, too, bc WHAT THE FUCK **** ***** IS HIS STUNT DOUBLE??). it's SO compelling, SO funny, and there is so much genuine chemistry in the main cast. i'm all caught up on season two, i can't believe i have to watch it week to week 😭😭 it's shaping up to be just as fantastic this season, too!!!!

i also recommend what we do in the shadows on fx!! the new season is about to start (streams on hulu i believe) and i am not lying when i say this is the funniest ensemble cast on television today. taika waititi is a fucking genius (we all know this) and has literally perfected my career trajectory dream (which supposedly means i still have time to do it too bc he was 30 when he wrote and directed for flight of the conchords... hmmm), and he is so deserving of the praise because he creates these morally gray annoyingly idiotic characters in these fantastical and absurd situations and makes you SIDE WITH THE EMPATHY LACKING VAMPIRE???? the characters are incredible the fashion is on point the gothic castle vibes always hit and then they are just like. in new york. GOD ITS SO FUNNY

on the reality front, trixie motel on discovery+!!! oh my god TRIXIE MOTELLLLLL i love this show so much i grew up watching food network and hgtv so i love a good home improvement show and this just takes that extremely heteronormative genre of reality television and. puts it in drag. like, its so gay, its so well put together and organized and the ROOM DESIGNS??? ARE SO FUCKING GOOOOOOD LIKE MY DREAM MANSION LOOKS LIKE THE TRIXIE MOTEL OKAYYYY yes im a gay architect lets move past it. the 60s space bombshell room really blew me away i loved i soooo much. so much.

another one of my absolute faves recently has been the world according to jeff goldblum on disney+!! it's a docuseries where jeff just pursues information from experts on weird niches that he finds interesting, like sneakerheads, or roller derby, or practical magic. such a feel good series, super informational about fringe culture, and accurately represents bipoc creators and influencers. it's soooo fun! and jeff is such a charming weirdo, i adore watching him talk about anything at all. he reminds me of my history loving story telling human rights protector gramps (probably bc they're both jewish and truly wonderful men).

These fucking cargo crates

alright I’m doing another analysis because iron cameraman got me thinking about those damn crates. It always goes back to those damn cargo containers.

I am going to do this in the form of the 5 w’s and 1 h because it makes everything more organized for me. Maybe I’ll put miscellaneous questions on later. I’ll also go over everything I know about the containers and say some speculations.

SPOILERS FOR 72 PART 1 AND THOSE BEFORE BTW

WHO?

Who is involved with these crates? According to DFB, the containers contain the head scientist’s last project, so it’s pretty important to not only the plot but the character in general, because the scientist is dead. Another intresting thing that has been pointed out is that Gman himself (or a clone version of him) is guarding and supervising the movement of the cargo. Gives it even more meaning that one of the leaders of the faction is spending precious war time to be with these crates. I bet the scientist himself would have supervised the crates because of their importance(idk why i said that).

WHEN?

When is this episode taking place? When were these crates first teased to us? Well from the pov tablet we get at the beginning of 72, this is happening after scientists death. I think we see the Gman directing a moving crew or preparation drew all the way back in the full episode 69, and this moving crew was in charge of getting the cargo packed up and ready to leave. This move was going to happen whether or not scientist died. At first I thought that scientist was going to come with the crates, because he motioned for the guards to guard the door in season 22, but then I remembered that these guards were around when he was talking to secret agent, so it was confidential. The conversation he had with secret agent was also intresting, even though secret agent was the only one talking. If goes as follows, to the best of my knoweladge: ‘Because I am out there. You’re not needed. You cannot escape. My little pawn will kill you. Guess I can’t be trusted. Goodbye.’ It’s intresting to me how secret agent switches up on his language from full on threatening to kind of guilt tripping. Maybe they had an alliance at some point, and that alliance provided something that is in the crate? I don’t know why I think these two are connected. All I know is that scientist is dead, and Gman probably doesn’t know because he would have had a reaction of some kind. Scientist was probably going to also go with the cargo with the mech suit, before he died.

WHERE?

Where are they taking the crates? I think that they are taking them to a new base, or at least another location after they found out that the current base wasn’t safe anymore for the crates. They could also be taking the crates out into the open, because whatever is in the crates needs to be set loose or is finished. The location also depends on what state the project is in. I wish I could find the original screenshot of dfb saying stuff about the crate, the dialect he uses is probably very useful. But the project could be incomplete with all the security and secrecy around it, and the idea that scientist was going to come with his work before he was killed. But I like to think that the project is finished and waiting to be released.

WHY?

Why is the cargo being carried in the air? Do the toilets not have teleportation technology? Or does only scientist have it and can choose to give it to whoever he wants and didn’t give it to Gman for some reason? I think it’s more likely that they didn’t need to teleport to a new base or building but this is them trying to place the finished project away. Or maybe the crates are diversions, and they want to be seen and stopped even though dfb said that it’s a project I’m going insane can you tell

Why did the Astro detained let the crates past him? He is super speedy and has the power and full ability to knock the crates out of the air and into the ground. But he didn’t. Either detainer doesn’t care what’s in the crates, or he knows what they are and they don’t relate to him. He wants to bully Gman.

HOW?

I like how the crates are being carried by two skibidii back too back. The crates are extremely fortified, after being shot at by lasers twice and getting hit with something else. I couldn’t think of nothing for how, give me questions. How does Gman not know his husband is dead. Maybe he does, if he was supposed to come with them for the crates.

WHAT?

the questions that has everyone crying and banging their fists against the floor. WHAT’S IN THOSE CRATES? We know it’s scientists last project. And scientist typically makes other species of Skibidi toilets or weapons. So I’m going to go for the boring answer. It’s a weapon that could change the tide of the war, maybe it has something to do with the TVs. Maybe it’s a launcher or something. I don’t think they are decoys. There’s way too much preparation and security for them to be just empty Amazon boxes. It’s not relating to Astro, probably. But based on dfb we’re not going to get anything for the next episode or two, so the crate may get to its location. But we know that whatever’s in that crate is going to be epic :}
