30 pity for Al Haitham and I randomly got his weapon when pulling for Jade Spear. He must like me.

Imagine Al Haitham being an Abyssal Legacy, most likely from a knowledge capsule gone wrong at one point and he is stuck in his new form. I headcanon him as Autistic bc Im Autistic and my word is law /j.

But he absolutely DETESTES his heightned sense of hearing now. He used to be able to wear soundproof headphones with adjustable settings but now they cant even fit on his head. Of course he went straight to the traveller who took him straight to you, the alledged "abyssmal tamer". In reality you just attract them like a magnet unwarrented. you help Al Haitham adjust until he obtains his human form back and feed him snacks. Childe took some time getting used to the new Roommate but understood Al Haitham was here because he wanted help from you.

Eventually the problem was fixed and Al Haitham paid you handsomely for the caretaking but also your silence about the whole thing...nobody needs to know how much he loves cuddles and bed time stories.

Kaveh was not used to the silence so when he asked Al Haitham the only response was "I had a slight detour when it came to some of the knowledge capsules"

i can just imagine you opening the door to see a sheepish Traveler, a confused Paimon, and a VERY irritated Abyss monster, and without a word you simply sigh and usher them all inside. Childe immediately approaches when you sit on the couch, curling up by your side and casting curious glances at the new Abyss creature in the house, who the Traveler tells you is called "Alhaitham". they ramble on and on about how they'd really appreciate it if you took him in, and how they'd make sure you'd be paid handsomely, and it's be really helpful of you to do, and you simply not idly before clearing your throat

"What does he think about it?"

Alhaitham blinks in surprise, tilting his head in consideration. you're quiet, perhaps purposefully so, always keeping your voice soft and light, especially when the other Abyss monster- Childe- was near you, and you seem to be kind enough, if a little tired. but does he really want to live with essentially two strangers until this whole situation is resolved?

Paimon yells in his ear, and Alhaitham decides that yes, yes he does

he acclimates fairly quickly to a new lifestyle in your home- for the most part, you and Childe leave him alone unless he needs you, and you take it upon yourself to provide as many books as you can find in your house. Childe is another variant of his kind- albeit permanently so- and occasionally chats with Alhaitham through a language of chirps and trills, even going so far as to share your lap (the best pillow ever) with him when thunderstorms are particularly loud. sometimes Alhaitham sees you working on some type of project, but whenever he clicks curiously you simply smile and put a finger to your lips

a few weeks later he finds a pair of soundproof headphones on his bed, specifically made for his new form

Alhaitham's really not clingy, he only seeks your touch when it's thundering outside or if there's something loud like fireworks, but occasionally he'll spot you and Childe together on the couch and silently sneak over to join you- which of course he'll NEVER admit when he turns back into a human. he does apologize for the trouble, but you just smile and wave, Childe standing behind you and chirping goodbye, saying that you're used to it and showing him a map back to Sumeru

and the moment he steps into the city he's bombarded by questions from his friends and colleagues, and he almost wants to turn right around and head back to the peace and quiet of your house

ive been thinking about what characters would know sign language, bc despite never being mentioned i can't imagine teyvat wouldn't have an equivalent version.

alhaitham (partially deaf/goes nonverbal) obviously and by extension kaveh (kinda hard to chew out your roommate when they cant understand you), but also collei (goes nonverbal when triggered) would have been taught by tighnari (who knows it bc its useful for communicating silently w other rangers)

They finished floor 11 with the full 27 stars. Don't look at Kazuha and Ayato, they're not the important ones right now.

They sure AS FUCK are not ready for floor 12, but they made it past floor 11, and I am proud of them. Kavetham took out those Ruin Drakes in less than a minute, giving Ayato enough time to Fucking Gut those Mirror Maidens in the final chamber. (I might play through again and update this post with a vid, if I feel like putting in the effort again.)

Kaveh is constantly a work in progress, especially because I only have him at c2, but his Bloom build is mostly complete. I want Makhaira Aquamarine as his bloom weapon rather than Rainslasher. No, I don't have Mailed Flower. Otherwise, I have a Basic Bitch (read as "DPS")¹ build and a Battery build in the works. I'll probably bring in the basic bitch build for Abyss from now on, so Kaveh can really deal out some damage.

Ayato is beefed up at c6 with a basic bitch build. But I still want artifacts with better substats for him and Mistsplitter. He's currently "borrowing" Alhaitham's LoFI.

I definitely need to work on leveling up my supports' talents. And I'm a little sad that I had to remove Bennett from the Ayato team this run, but I had to. Benny has a new weapon, so he's no longer ready to support anymore. Lowkey gave me anxiety since I was watching Ayato's HP DROP during his skill/E and Fischl's artifacts aren't even fully leveled. 💀

¹ Don't start giving me attitude. 😤 DPS builds are practically all the same: [scaling stat like ATK%/DEF%/HP%, Element dmg%, and Crit rate/dmg]. Therefore, "basic bitch."

Personal fanfic prompts (Genshin)

Fanfic prompts for myself (or if you know a fic that already exists with these themes, please point me in that direction so I can read it!):

Explore Ayato’s parentified childhood. Him avoiding dealing with it as an adult. Eventually having no choice but to deal with it. (Touching on this in A Matter of Duty but would like to do a short story focusing on it.)

Writing this one as A Matter of Duty (it’s extremely NSFW, mind the tags on AO3). That political period after the Kamisato parents died and before Ayato succeeded at proving himself as not one to be messed with. How did he manage that? Hurt/comfort where Thoma and/or Ayaka finally uncover what it cost Ayato behind the scenes. Insert trauma here.

Childe's 3 months in the Abyss. Hurt/comfort of actually revealing some of the details with ??? Zhongli maybe? Someone else? Or they find out some other way, without him telling them, and then confront him about it, insert feels here. (Is it just exhilaration that makes him seek out fights and to become stronger, or is it so he won't be a victim of that ever again? Or is he halfway suicidal, since "He has unusual tastes when it comes to combat — the encounters he craves the most being those that bring him closest to his own demise.")

Also Scara's time in the Abyss/as an experiment of Dottore. I haven't been able to find fic about this which is just confusing.

Venti drinks as self-medication/avoidance (I believe all addiction is self medication), uses deflection and humor to avoid vulnerability or dealing with his grief, he's not as happy as he seems. (Haven't gone looking for this fic, it's just my personal headcanon, it probably exists somewhere.)

Something about the Traveler as witness. Angsty experimental piece. It’s a theme that comes up repeatedly, in every land they go to: “witness this, remember this, write this, sing this when I am gone, you are not of this land and can remember when no one else can”. It hits me hard every time (as a psychotherapist, who witnesses so many inner lives that then move on without me, as they should; and I am the container for so many stories that I cannot share; and it is sometimes terribly lonely). Hits harder still when the Traveler remembers Rukkhadevata and no one else does, and the Traveler can’t even talk about it. Holding the space for people and nations and gods. They are not the main character, they are the lens.

Therapy AU with Traveler as therapist (fuck. It’d happen too. He’s the witness, after all)

Jeht/Lumine. Seriously anything. They get together finally, or they have a long distance type relationship where they meet up here and there, or hurt/comfort after everything that happened in 3.4 (at least I found a couple good fics of this), or Jeht joins Lumine for traveling around Teyvat (also a couple well done stories about that).

Fix-it fic for Tadhla because ouch did her story hurt. And she deserved better.

Tadhla/Jeht when they were both in training, maybe. I could see this being a thing. (Which means Tadhla/Jeht/Lumine could absolutely be a thing too. At least as a one-off.)

Xiao/Aether exploring Xiao's need to be owned/wielded/fear of having his own agency or making his own choices. The bindings of contracts and duty that he entered into with Morax that kept him intact even as his duties poisoned him. The mess he's become in the aftermath of Zhongli's retirement.

Zhongli didn't foresee this, thinks he's doing what's best for Xiao or it didn't even occur to him that Xiao would be undone by his strings being cut.

Or Zhongli did foresee this / did notice it, and isn't sure how to fix it or handle it. He's watching Xiao slip further and further and nothing he's tried has worked. Calls in Aether. Transfer of contract/"ownership"? (Insert kink aspects here.)

Bonus Zhongli/Childe, either past or current? Childe being another barely-held-together soul in need of grounding and containment (which of course Geo is great for).

Ayato speaks always with a purpose. “He has forgotten how to do this, Ayato realizes, panic sparking at the bottom of his chest. He doesn't know how to say useless things anymore, to talk for the sake of bringing words into the world.” (From this excellent fic.) Play with this as a therapist parallel, like what happens to me when I’ve been saying every disclosure and every line with intent, focused on clients and their well being and then struggling to switch modes to talk with my interpersonal connections.

Ayato's relationship with Shuumatsuban. Thanks to "Lord Commissioner, the Momoyo flowers have not withered. The branches grow yet. Do not worry." Vaguely The Cost of the Crown (Lackey/Valdemar) but about Thoma and Shuumatsuban and Kazuha's friend and Kazuha and all those sworn to Kamisato and to Yashiro. Possibly he is closer to the Shuumatsuban than he lets on, and also feels very very responsible to them; orphans that are raised in a ninja village to be extra loyal to the Kamisato Clan and Yashiro Commission? Whose names no one remembers (no one, perhaps, except Ayato). ooo. remembering their names. Regularly. (Check Thoma's hangout about the ninken but also the Momoyo flowers quest. Maybe this centers around getting that note? starts or ends with it?)

Cut for the kinkier stuff:

A Matter of Duty (working on this one!): Ayato isn't above using sex to get information or get closer to people, a la Kushiel's Dart.

And/or, Thoma will do anything for the Kamisato Clan, and his role as "fixer" is "fix the situation by any means necessary". Sometimes this is bribery, favors exchanged, gifts. Other times it's interrogation, assassination, threats. Still others are sexual (for information, as payment, or to get close enough for assassination/thievery/etc).

and/or, Thoma and Ayato are close and they do all the dirty work behind the scenes. Keep Ayaka from having to know about it, see it, or deal with it. They've paid a high price. Ayato uses Thoma as currency and for dirty work, with Thoma's consent. Thoma stepped up to this role when the Kamisato parents died and he caught Ayato using his own body as currency; he volunteered himself to try to save Ayato from it.

Thoma as a party favor/servant at a formal dinner event.

Ayato meets Alhaitham on a diplomatic errand to Sumeru. Sparks. They fall into bed to gain information about the other and for mutual attraction, and discover they've met their match at subterfuge and dissembling. It's a tantalizing challenge for them both, rarely meeting another of equivalent competence and intelligence. They flirt by playing sociopolitical chess (metaphorically speaking) against each other across the years. Eventually Feelings develop, oops. Slow burn. (Thoma/Kaveh too? Polyamorous quad? Thoma sent as surrogate at some point? Trading Thoma and Kaveh somehow?

Could also combine with the previous set of prompts, they’re not mutually exclusive.

Spin-off from Matter of Duty, but it's Thoma who's on the diplomatic errand first, and Ayato grows fascinated with Alhaitham through Thoma's accounts?

Babel/Lumine and how would Jeht respond to that, hurt no comfort in that case probably. Could eventually lead to Lumine/Jeht as Babel is absolutely just setting Lumine up for betrayal, which would be more in the hurt/comfort vein. Or maybe Babel is getting with Lumine because she knows Jeht has a thing for Lumine and she wants to break that tie to isolate Jeht further. Probably would have been a smarter approach than trying to get them to kill each other.

Babel/someone (Lumine, Jeht, Azariq, doesn’t really matter) with a whole worshipping-Domme-as-goddess dynamic. Because she absolutely sets herself up that way.

Babel/Jeht in a grooming-Jeht-for-awful-roles kind of way. Kind of squicky for me so I might not write it but it has a lot of potential to be interesting.

A dominant recovering from an emotionally abusive relationship with a submissive. …what’s awful is that Alhaitham/Kaveh would work for this. But probably people would hate it? I would disclaimer the hell out of it with “I actually love Alhaitham/Kaveh and it’s one of my favorite ships, but I really wanted/needed to write a story with this dynamic, and they were the best option.” Alternatively Alhaitham/Kaveh and Alhaitham had an ex who was abusive, but… I can’t see him being okay with the dynamic he has with Kaveh then. Other options?

Thoma has a yokai/shapeshifter/monster kink. That's it, that's the prompt, I don't know what to do with it yet, but we know he loves stories of yokai and shapeshifters canonically, this is just taking it to the next level.

EDIT: whoo boy I completely forgot Childe was a *literal child* when he fell into the Abyss, scratch that fic concept from the record unless it involves an aged-up Childe, yikes. (I haven’t dug into Childe much as a character and I don’t have him in my roster so I didn’t actually know the details of his story.)

many of his "complaints" are for show. not all of them, mind, but he deliberately finds things to complain about as some weird sort of defense mechanism. losing alhaitham the first time had such a negative impact on his life that he can't allow himself to rebuild that close bond (which he fails at, spectacularly) - so he has to find ways to keep a wall between them, and nagging him about minor inconveniences or conjuring reasons to be annoyed with him are part of that. also, sometimes it's just habit.

alhaitham was the first one (and for a long time, the only one) kaveh confided in regarding what happened with his father, and the fallout it had for his mother. while alhaitham undoubtedly already knew the details, kaveh had never before spoken to anyone about how it affected him, and the guilt he felt regarding the entire situation. additionally, when his mother chose to leave for fontaine, alhaitham was the first one kaveh turned to, and the only one (barring traveller, eventually) who knows his feelings on the matter.

kaveh is intimately familiar with all the subtle cues and tells alhaitham displays when he is uncomfortable or overstimulated - and how to help him in those situations. that being said, there are times when kaveh is the cause for that discomfort, albeit unintentionally. he does, however, notice fairly quickly if he has crossed a boundary, and works to rectify it immediately.

kaveh kept tabs on alhaitham during their falling out. not in an overbearing, stalkerish kind of way - he just kept an ear to the ground for things alhaitham was up to, he read his published essays and took an interest in any projects he was a part of. despite their differences, he still cared, and he wanted to keep some small connection to him.

─「荧」─  the sight of him reminded her of an ECLIPSE. the moon motif seemingly fit his very demeanor but not without the dark side of it. sometimes, she wondered what was it that he had under the sharp gaze which took in everything around him. star-shaped pupils appeared as though he had seen EVERYTHING one should and should not experience. the eyes that bore witness to the birth and destruction of a whole nation he was supposed to protect. the despair and regret lacing his tone every single time he mentioned the NATION he failed to protect. or was it a person ?

                " a broken knight. " he said he was cursed, but it felt as though he willingly embraced the said CURSED as his punishment. that he seemed to wholeheartedly believed he was destined to suffer for having FAILED in his duty. the piercing words from her brother still reigned within her mind, and she thinned her lips. the one who failed. the one who atone by suffering. her gaze softened quietly. " i want to share that burden ... if he'd let me. "

alhaitham.

─「荧」─  it was difficult for the OUTLANDER to pick out a single word to describe the scribe. perhaps, she had gotten used to his presence to the point that she had little particular opinions when it comes to him. even PAIMON argued that he had a soft spot for her judging from how he would allow her to get away with things he normally wouldn't. lumine tilted her head. was that true, she wondered ? maybe. she didn't think he treated her any different than his friends and those who managed to earn his trust.

                at the thought, she couldn't help peering her eyes at him. a subtle movement that didn't get in the way of her resting against him while he was reading. well, perhaps paimon had a bit of a point. he was indeed spoiling her quite a bit whenever she needed a company, and as long as she didn't disturb his WORK, he'd let her linger within his presence and sometimes even rewarded her with a tender peck atop her head. the blonde blinked, before a soft smile grazed her lips.

                maybe he was a little biased. but it's only fair if she is too, right ?
