Tansui's Adventures - #8, Directions

In a span of three days, Tansui had joined an Adventuring guild, almost got eaten by marmots, got involved in family drama he had no business getting involved with, and had learned to harness a little more of their powers. 

That family drama however was a tad too much for them right now - ill-equipped to comfort anyone, not familiar with spell-crafting or aether requirements, not to mention their own powers weren’t quite up to any bigger tasks… 

So instead, Tansui turned their attention to the Adventuring guild. See if there was anything he could do to help - only to be sent off right away to the Dispatch Yard for some additional aid. And from there, he was sent to deliver… snacks. He was sent to deliver snacks for three different people. 

You know, not the worst possible job, if Tansui had known where all these people were. Thankfully, the little Au’ra had come to learn that it never hurt to ask for some directions from other adventurers if he happened to run into any - like a rather pretty, freckled Duskwight. Who didn’t seem to mind at all that it took a minute for Tansui to write down what he was after - before she pointed out exactly where she had seen a man fitting the description on the little map.

And if Tansui gave one of the extra snacks to her as a thank you, that was his secret to keep.

When you write, what are your strategies? Are you chasing inspiration or have a set time to write? Do you have music you listen to? Do you follow an outline or just let the words run free? That sort of stuff.

Usually I’m chasing inspiration- if I can’t feel that spark or drive to write, it’s like pulling teeth trying to get words on the page. Write time is whenever the stars align HDJDJDJS

If I wanna get into the mood or brainspace to write, I tend to look for music that either matches up with the vibe of the section I’m writing, is good chill background noise, or is full of GO GO GO vibes- depends what I need most!

I tend to have a very rough outline! Or at least a general idea condensed into a few sentences, maybe a bullet list of things I want to happen or quotes I thought of. Just enough structure to keep me on track and make sure I’ve got all my pieces together!!! Then I kinda just go hogwild HFJJDKD sometimes I go off outline but I at least start with one!!! I try not to box myself in too much if I find a better idea (or end up falling back on the original)

And! If all else fails, I try to get myself to write one sentence. Or for 5 mins. Whatever feels more manageable. That way at least I got some words on the page! Nd sometimes it gets me unstuck to go insane hehe

I feel like a little gremlin crawling all over a machine holding up gears and wires and pulling it apart to stick it back together better when writing :]

things that happen when you leave an open flame unattended: part 1

#so! guess whose workstation caught fire within the past 24 hours~? yeah. mine. ಠ‿ಠ #it wasn’t my fault though (trying to convince myself of this) #i did leave the tiny little flames unattended but they had nothing to do with the fires (i think…) #it was my coworker who did it really! (desperate rationalisation) dude poured these oddly flammable samples into the testers and walked off… #then the buggers caught fire </3 the flames got pretty huge. like big enough to roast marshmallows huge #the coworker who set ‘em on fire then tried to blow the flames out. to his credit the fires did go poof for like a second #but ig the samples were just too flammable bc the fires started again ಠ‿ಠ not fun #so yeah. he used a fire extinguisher and… left me to clean up the mess while he yeeted off to eat #so that was not fun at all. i just wanted to finish testing my samples mannnnnnnnn #dude did return to the station to clean up the rest of the mess a couple of hours later though… so that was better than nothing #hm. i think i’ve become somewhat desensitised to fires lmaoooooo #esp after my family’s old tv caught fire while my mother and brother were playing tetris on it a decade ago (rip) #the sight of the flames just blasting out of the sides of the tv was really funny though tbh #esp since it was one of those old box tvs from the early 2000s… good times #inedible blubbering
