Lyria being referred to as a “member of the horn gang” and then subsequently an “agent” of the sovereign when she 100% was not ever in a gang nor sent on a mission by Virginia will send me every time.
The way people refer to her like she’s so menacing and official.. then you meet her and she’s just like “listen idk how I got here I’m just as confused as you are.”

*Lyria and Volga on Darrow*
Volga: “This is insane, He hid in a LEVIATHAN! Darrow-“
Lyria: “Is apparently a werewolf who eats warlords and shits nightmares..
But he likes me.”
This is the most on brand shit

Pierce Brown building up Volga and Lyria by having them be friends and having Lyria find a friend that she deserved and always wanted, via the gayest, most romantic method - letters exchanged through a slip in the wall? Chef's kiss.

idk Volga and Lyria coffee shop! au? ☺️
Hi, sorry for the delay, didn't catch a break these days. Unto headcanons:
Lyria is the barista and Volga visits and tries a new flavour everyday - always milk foam art or at least whipcream and cute sprinkles;
Lyria is not exactly passionate about her job, but this very intiminating woman and her cute drinks spark her interest - she comes up with different decorating styles and combinations, Volga is her biggest fan and unknowing muse. They talk about everything under the sun.
One day, Volga does not come to the shop. Lyria is very worried and realizes they spoke about everything...but their addresses or phone numbers. So she manages to get off early, grabs a cold, colourful strawberry mango frappuccino and runs around the city to all the places Volga mentioned in their convos.
She ends up exhausted, worried and with a arm slushie mess dripping from her hand. Volga finds her near her building - she's snappy, she also had a hard day. Lyria raises her voice at her and throws the bevearge in a nearvy bin. They both tear up and yell 'sorry' at each other at the same time.
They end up in Volga's apartment for a bath and dinner. They also exchange numbers and text everyday.
Hope you like these 💖🐺

Both Lyria and Volga snap at Pax due to their own unresolved trauma. That is not okay, regardless of how involved or not or how tactful or not Pax is, he is a child and does not deserve it. However, both women are valid to feel like they do. They need to process and redirect their emotions and quit snapping at the easy target just because it makes them feel good to let it out on someone who can't dish it back, but said emotions are valid.
When Darrow's trauma had him act all kinds of way with people around them, you were iffed by his attitude and there was little validation for his feelings to go around. Lyria and Volga deserve understandment and compassion for their feelings, but making Pax a whipping boy is not okay. Have you noticed how no one actually has the balls to do that to actual people in charge?

Obsidian heiress:
One of the main reasons Volga has a hero complex is that she is used to people treating her horribly, so she would take ant opportunity to prove herself worthy of love.
Her loyalty is a trauma response, even towards Mars, and the fact that she blames Pax for Ephraim's decisions is a low for her in the sense that her traumas are compounded by her grief.
She feels she could have had it way worse and that messes with her emotions in many relationships and interactions, because everything is an improvement to her.
Obviously, not saying she should be spiteful towards Ephraim for how he treated her or Victra for telling not fighting for her. Just that she does not see her own worth and that is bad for her and her goals - if she even has them formed yet. Also, finding someone else to blame for Eph's own choices is very ironic, yet very sad.
I need to highlight here that Volga has no right to blame and guilt-trip Pax in any way, shape or form, but she is grieving and it's understandable. I am not saying that because Pax is a child, I am saying it because Pax has no authority over Ephraim, never had. Ephraim made a choice to go and then made a choice to try to kill the threat to Volga at his own cost.
The idea that Volga is right is really missing the point - that for once in his life Ephraim chose a job and was not especially interested in any payment for it. However, Volga does not know how and why, she just knows her only parental figure died right when they managed to form the bond she always craved. That is the point of emotional conflict that Volga will have to deal with in Light Bringer - her trauma, her grief, her heritage, her legacy.
Her journey has barely started, she's the main character in a first book from now on - a beginner in a dangerous and unforgiving game. She has many things to learn and deal with befire she will be ready to lead her own people. I honestly think she should be a point of view character. And she really needs Lyria and her brand of unconditional love to understand and overcome things.

"Send Me a Character" - Lyria or Volga? :D
Thank you for the ask! I will do just Volga, since I've done Lyria a few asks down.
First impression: So, why am I stuck with Ephraim when Volga is an actual treasure?
Impression now: Volga has a long way to go and the fact that she settles for so little is a problem. I don't mean it in a 'she wants a simple life', I mean it as in 'she deserves better from people in general'. I love that Eph finally opened up to her and she is obviously not ok with losing him, but I hope she moves on from her childhood insecurities and attachment issues. I love her a lot and I think she could be a marvelous Queen of Obsidians, but she has some growth to do.
Favourite moment: Every moment she had with Lyria - especially when she confessed her most ardent wish.
Idea for a story: I wonder how things would have been if Ragnar was alive.
Unpopular opinion: some people wish Volga had Figment and I really hate this take a lot. I won't go into details, but no, it wouldn't be more interesting, epecially when we find out Volga is Ragnar's daughter and the only legitimate heir to the Obsidian Throne. So just shut up about it already, please!
Favourite relationship: I loved Volga's bonds, but her friendship with Lyria really struck a cord with me.
Favourite headcanon: I like to think that whoever carved Volga is now dead and she's like 'well...accidents happen!'.

Lyria x Volga 😍?
Sorry it took so long!
Who was the one to propose:
Volga did and she prepared a fancy proposal, because Lyria is worth it. She still barely got the words out in a stutter, but Lyria got it.
Who stressed more over wedding planning:
Volga, but Lyria was there for emotional support.
Who decorated the house:
Both of them. They decorated their space in the palace and made it way more homey.
Who does the cooking:
They are both quite good at cooking, but Lyria can't handle Volga's knack for weird food. Though she would never outwardly tell her.
Who is more organized:
Volga, Lyria is quite messy.
Who initiates bedroom fun:
Lyria!
Who suggested kids first:
Volga wants kids in the future. Lyria supports whatever decision she makes.
Who’s more dominant:
Lyria likes to be in charge.
Who’s the cuddler:
Volga loves being the big spoon for Lyria because she is a tiny firecracker that needs love.
What’s their favorite non-sexual activity:
Kicking arse, playing with animals, cooking.
Who comes home drunk at 3am:
Lyria, don't ask.
Who kills the spiders:
Lyria, but only when Volga isn't home, because Volga is against killing harmless creatures.
Who falls asleep first:
Lyria.
Their relationship summed up in a gif:

Volga Fjorgan Volarus - Queen of Obsidians
Remember the Path/Way of Stains? The grueling, violent, awful trial that Ragnar and (I think) every Obsidian male was sent to become Stained? In Morning Star, after Ragnar died, Darriw thought for a second that if he went through it, the Obsidians might listen to him as someone who is their equal, who endured like they did. But he didn't have time and Ragnar thought he wasn't ready when they disscussed it (prior to his death).
What if the trial reappears in the last book, this time for Volga. Volsung exploited the inequality in Obsidian society to suit himself. He accused Sefi of being 'weak and spoiled' . Volga has even more 'disadvantages' if we look at it from his sick point of view. But if she goes through the trial and becomes a Stained, there should be no more matriarchy vs. patriarchy. The cycle will finally end.
Not only that, but this way she can gain her people's trust and respect. That way she can take her rightful throne easier. When she kills Volsung and put his heart on her scepter (or eats it, depending on her mood I guess) all her subjects will already be loyal and will protect her and listen to every word she says.
Also, no one will have to go through the Way of the Stains ever again. The warlords disloyal to Sefi won't live long enough to have something to say about it. She can put an end to the Gold practices that still haunt her people. She can be her gentle, yet firm self.
Obviously, Volsung will try to eat her heart and realise too late that it is not on the left side. Lol, I can't wait! Bad things happen to those who take the Reaper's name in vain.

So Volga is at least being set up as a future leader of the Alltribe, which leads me to wonder two things: What sort of leader would Volga be, and will the Alltribe even exist by the end of the books? Your thoughts?
I have no idea how Volga will be as a leader. Or if the AllTribe will still be a thing at the end of the book.
If they do, I think Volga will remain in Oculus and lead from there as I doubt Mars will ever forget what Volsung did.
Obsidians are great sailors so the trade with the Republic should work well, though.
But Volga is a gentle, yet strong soul. I think that would reflect in her ruling. And
But I can't pronounce myself more than that as I am not sure what Pierce Brown intends to do with the Ascomanni - will he kill them all? prove they are still humans even if they don't look like humans? have Volga unite all Obsidians no matter their appearance?
I do think Valdir might be helpful to Volga or to the Republic, but I am sure he will die. I like him, and last time I liked a new character, they died. Not as some sort of marriage material, no way. Just as far as his strategic and military exprience and loyalty goes.
Sorry for such an ambiguous answer, but I have very littlw to work with.

No, I only spoiled you seraphinas death :( What do you think is this Parasyite that Lyria now has in her mind?
You're a real one, anon! Thank you! Whoever spoiled me Alex's is a Gorgon. And a Bonerider.
Figment said something when she was with Lyria and Volga on the Pandora, but the parasite must be more than something related to nerves.
I was hoping we get some answers by the end of the book, but nooo...
Although if Pax is one in like 8 people to know what it is and it worked wonders, despite being broken, then I think the Republic has found itself a great ally in Lyria.
Can we note that Glirates is not only a little, puny bitch and Apollonius should try to see if his blood tastes just like oranges, his stupid city is a thing?
Oculus. In Lysander's pov we are told that the city looks like an eye and it is meant to work in outer space. Pax handed Lyria maps of the Rim Dominion and the Belt.
I am very happy that someone is going to resolve the Obsidian Gorgon plot. I was worried. Also, I am hella happy that Volga is involved, as they are her people. It seems fitting. If it was only other Colors it would have seemed like they need an outsider to tame them or something. Which is not true. Darrow was not there to tame them, only to give them freedom to make their own choices. That's why they love him so much and why Darrow never blamed Sefi for leaving him, although he could.
I am also happy that it is Volga, because she's a fighter, but she's also female. Valdir is not fit to go against that bastard that says he's Vagnar. He's a warlord. Volga is a freelancer, more fit for undercover missions and creating power vacuums. She'll just have to learn to fill that void after she creates it. That and her way of leading would be better for the Obsidians. She would fight for the Republic. She would probably remain on Oculus with them. But Valdir is more fit to be warlord, just like Darrow is more fit to be ArchImperator, not Sovereign.
And I am also happy Lyria goes after her to help her. I am very proud of how far she has become. Those two will rule and it'll be epic!
