*excerpts below — but I highly recommend reading the full article in link above*
Hit Me Hard and Soft dunks us headfirst back into that universe, from the deepest wallows of depression to the exhaustion that comes with the world speculating about her every move. There are no arachnids where they shouldn’t be, but getting in touch with her darker side has Eilish finally feeling like herself again. “I feel like this album is me,” she says. “It’s not a character. It feels like the When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? version of me. It feels like my youth and who I was as a kid.”
Although 2019 felt like a whirlwind of madness at the time, she has found herself missing it. “It was the best time of my life,” she says. “This whole process has felt like I’m coming back to the girl that I was. I’ve been grieving her. I’ve been looking for her in everything, and it’s almost like she got drowned by the world and the media. I don’t remember when she went away.”
The title Hit Me Hard and Soft derives from a conversation she had with Finneas, when she mistakenly thought the name of a synth in Logic Pro was called Hit Me Hard and Soft. “I thought it was such a perfect encapsulation of what this album does,” she explains. “It’s an impossible request: You can’t be hit hard and soft. You can’t do anything hard and soft at the same time. I’m a pretty extremist person, and I really like when things are really intense physically, but I also love when things are very tender and sweet. I want two things at once. So I thought that was a really good way to describe me, and I love that it’s not possible.”
Eilish and Finneas call Hit Me Hard and Soft “an album-ass album.” It’s not a concept record, but it is a self-consciously cohesive set of songs, inspired by auteurist works from the past 15 years or so, like Coldplay’s Viva La Vida, Lana Del Rey’s Born to Die, Tyler, the Creator’s Goblin, Marina and the Diamonds’ Electra Heart, and Vince Staples’ Big Fish Theory.
“Lunch,” a complete 180 in both sound and subject content. It’s a sexy, bass-heavy banger where Eilish is crushing on a girl so hard she likens sex with her to devouring a meal. Finneas remembers playing this moment for Interscope and witnessing the team shift in their seats. “What’s funny about starting the album with [the opener] is that it is a total false promise,” he says. “If you’re remembering ‘What Was I Made For?’ and then you hear [it], you go, ‘Oh, OK. I understand this world.’ Then the drums come in [on “Lunch”], and it really is the kill-the-main-character-type beat. It’s like Drew Barrymore being in the first five minutes of Scream and then they kill her. You’re like, ‘They can’t kill Drew. Oh, my God, they killed Drew!’”
Eilish and I spend a lot of time talking about the new era she is about to kick off, and how she’ll promote Hit Me Hard and Soft while prioritizing her mental health, privacy, and well-being. With all of that in mind, I wonder if she’s ready for journalists to pepper her with questions about the album’s subject matter, particularly the sexual nature of “Lunch.” “That song was actually part of what helped me become who I am, to be real,” Eilish says. “I wrote some of it before even doing anything with a girl, and then wrote the rest after. I’ve been in love with girls for my whole life, but I just didn’t understand — until, last year, I realized I wanted my face in a vagina. I was never planning on talking about my sexuality ever, in a million years. It’s really frustrating to me that it came up.”
Eilish is referring to her interview with Variety last fall, in which she mentioned she was attracted to women. The quote — “I’m attracted to them for real” — became a national headline. The following month, Eilish attended Variety’s Hitmakers event in L.A. While on the red carpet, she was asked if she intentionally came out in the story. “No, I didn’t,” she told them. “But I kind of thought, ‘Wasn’t it obvious?’” Eilish then posted about it on Instagram, with a caption that read, “Thanks Variety for my award and for also outing me on a red carpet at 11 a.m. instead of talking about anything else that matters. I like boys and girls leave me alone about it please literally who cares.”
Looking back, Eilish admits she overreacted with the Instagram post. “Who fucking cares?” she says. “The whole world suddenly decided who I was, and I didn’t get to say anything or control any of it. Nobody should be pressured into being one thing or the other, and I think that there’s a lot of wanting labels all over the place. Dude, I’ve known people that don’t know their sexuality, or feel comfortable with it, until they’re in their forties, fifties, sixties. It takes a while to find yourself, and I think it’s really unfair, the way that the internet bullies you into talking about who you are and what you are.”
As for that red-carpet quote that made all the headlines, Eilish says she tried to think of a response that would be entertaining for her fans and the internet. “I went into Billie Eilish interview mode, [like], ‘Oh, I don’t care. Yeah, I’ll say whatever. Wasn’t it obvious?’” she says. “And then afterwards I was like, ‘Wait. It wasn’t obvious to me.’”
Thinking about it now, she draws a bigger lesson from that moment. “I know everybody’s been thinking this about me for years and years, but I’m only figuring out myself now,” she says. “And honestly, what I said was funny, because I really was just saying what they’ve all been saying.” She adds that she liked the journalist she was talking to and didn’t want to be rude. But she still felt exploited. “Bro, I have asthma out here,” she says. “I fucking can’t take a breath.”
If Eilish had the opportunity to do it over again on the red carpet, she says, she wouldn’t have answered the question. But she acknowledges it could have been worse. “I’m lucky enough to be in a time when I’m able to say something like that and things go OK for me,” she says. “And that’s not how a lot of people’s experience is.”
Eilish has officially decided to make some changes to the way she presents herself to the world. “This album, to me, feels like a way to restart, in terms of my sharing,” she says. So let’s take a second to reintroduce Billie Eilish, the home-schooled bohemian who captured our attention as a teenager. She’s 22 now, yet she’s more self-aware than people twice her age. She would like some space to grow, to figure out exactly who she is — no label required. She is not the poster child for anything. And she is not, she’d like to note, a TED Talk speaker. So where does that leave us? Eilish sums things up with four simple words that point to her desire for normalcy and acceptance.
“I’m just a girl.”

maybe i'm just a clueless millennial who avoids most social media, but i don't understand why showing travis in a tiktok is making people freak out? we've been seeing them together, holding hands and kissing ("kissing") for months and they talk about each other in interviews... why does flashing a second of him on her tiktok account make it more "official" or whatever? i'm not trying to be insensitive to the people who are upset by this thing, i'm just trying to understand the significance of this.
I think it’s notable because Taylor usually only posts on social media for business reasons. Even when she’s sharing a photo that seems personal, she’s most likely sharing it for promo. Her bearding antics are typically left off social media. For context, Swifties were so thirsty for Toe content they would practically weep with joy when she posted a photo of herself from was in the same place he had already posted a photo from or vice versa. That was the extent of it, crumbs here and there to keep people hooked on a years long “private relationship” where Taylor didn’t have to physically be seen near him very often.
Now, Tayvis has been laying it on thick at all these games…going so completely overboard that it’s become a running joke with mainstream American who didn’t pay much attention to her before. She sailed past overexposed a while ago. Reminiscent of the Calvin Harris and Tom Huddleston days (which admittedly I wasn’t here for but rather experienced as a mainstream fan).
Anyway, she hadn’t put 🚜 on her social media before the Super Bowl afterparty. The question is why do it? Like you said she’s been at these games cringe smooching him for all the cameras to see. Why add a TikTok? The only reason I can think of, and I haven’t thought much about it, is to change the narrative from her cringing at his ridiculous Viva Las Vegas speech to her making a joke with him being goofy at the afterparty. Who knows. But it strays from the norm and there is a reason for it.

First: I am a huge gross Elvis apologist. Second: I had seen the trailer for this movie and said, "I'm not going to see that. It wasn't a Revival Tent that got Elvis into spirituality + music" and then Priscilla Presley took to social media and said that she had seen a screening of the film and that Austin Butler got the spirit of Elvis. Third: I watched 'Strictly Ballroom' and said, "Baz knows how to make a movie." Fourth: My sister is home for the first time in 2 years and she wanted us to see it together. Fifth: I try to make everyone I love see The King (2017) because it explains the cultural influence that this poor boy from Tupelo, MS had and how his life is a metaphor for the United States with the influence of capitalism and greed led by Mr. Colonel Tom Parker. I got to see that in a small local theater with the director and performance from one of my local musical heroes, Kat Wright, who makes an appearance for a performance in the back of one of Elvis' Rolls-Royce's. Six: I adore the '68 Comeback Special and I first saw it in the movie theater in 2018 and my world was rocked with how quietly political it is. Seven, and I'll start talking about this film now: Austin Butler killed it, as everyone has said in the reviews I've read, his appearance on Jimmy Fallon, and as Priscilla had shared. The mannerisms, the life, the dialogue, were all so solid. His performance goes beyond impersonation and it is a gift. There are points where it's hard to know how old he is because of Butler's youth but I can get past that. Now, I'm a fan of montage and maximalism (and I as stated in point one, huge Elvis fan) so that being said, this movie was basically made for me. The care that was put into the sequence of the Comeback Special made me cry. Baz really gets it (Thank you, Baz). The assassination of Bobby Kennedy during the filming of the special and therefore the inclusion of 'If I Can Dream' always makes me emotional. For everyone who wants to say that Elvis wasn't political in his own way needs to watch this sequence. Sure, he still stuck with what wouldn't alienate anyone and therefore sold out a bit, and held back real comment or stance, but I see what he did do as real action instead of just talk. I think overall, Baz really gets that Elvis is the culmination of a lot of things that are deeply American. I think it is a fumble to have Elvis be an anointed figure though. It rubbed me the wrong way in the trailer, as in point two, and in the film that the spirit and the music of Black Christians that influenced who Elvis was was depicted in the way it was. It's an unnecessary exaggeration in mine eyes. He didn't find his spiritual voice in a Revivalist Tent, that's just not it. What was not exaggerated enough was the change in Elvis' image over time. Bloated Elvis is hard to see but it illustrates the physical turmoil his lifestyle put him through. To do the performances that he did at the speed and schedule that he did drove him to medication and ultimately his death. This movie did a good job with working addiction in, while still being respectful to the family. I did also love the handling of his "shit ass movies" -Ethan Hawke, in The King (2017). Go watch them for yourselves, this movie didn't need to devote time to them! I loved the work in of Britney Spear's 'Toxic' and 'Viva Las Vegas'. Perfect way to sum up that decade of those movies. I think it's really apt that the last performance of 'Unchained Melody' is how most Elvis media ends. It was just so powerful while also being so desperate. It really showed a man at the end of his rope and life capacity. Showbiz can do that to you. I will say, that the Vegas years are not my area of expertise, I do tend to shield my eyes from the bloated king, so I'm curious about the attempted firing of the Colonel. I love that this movie worked in so many direct quotes and stage comments from Elvis, so I'll have to see if that really was something that happened on stage. I think it's a weird choice to have the Colonel be the narrator and how we access the story of Elvis. I guess it makes some kind of sense but I think most people will find it pretty disagreeable, sorry Tom Hanks. Overall, a really fun time and I love Elvis. I do recommend watching The '68 Comeback Special, The Searcher (2018), and The King (2017), and if you really want a laugh or to see how Ethan Hawke is correct, some of his "shit-ass movies".

Tumblr media
* for stats, and the past etc , if ur curious , you can read all of kylie’s intros HERE
chicago’s very own kylie castillo  has been spotted on madison avenue , with a striking semblance to Becky G ! you may know them as @kyliebby or hitting the front page of tmz as Chicago spitfire returns with a crash . according to tmz , you just had your 22nd birthday bash . your chance of surviving new york is uncertain because you’re competitive , but being confidents might help you . things that would paint a better picture of you would be acrylic nails, a lit up joint  and oversized sunglasses .
*** i haven’t rpd since we went on hiatus , soooooooooo , pray for me 😂
* QUICK STATS !
FULL NAME: kylie valentina castillo NICKNAMES: ky, kyky, k, kybby AGE: 22 HEIGHT: 5 ft BIRTHDAY: April 15th  ZODIAC: aries HOGWARTS HOUSE: slythindor (slytherin + gryffindor) ETHNICITY: mexican NATIONALITY: american GENDER: cis female PRONOUNS: she/her ORIENTATION: bisexual RELIGION: agnostic-catholic TATTOOS: a peach on her ass, #2 tramp stamp and canon becky g tattoos
* BACKSTORY !
kylie is the first and only child of andres castillo, and third child of valentina castro. kylie’s parents had her at 20 during the time her mother lived in mexico for a year . thankfully her dad’s family were well off and could afford to take care of the child ; her parents tried making it work for about two years, her dad taking on the role even for her half brother but because of the class difference between her parents families, and the different careers, plus the stress of young kids , it didn’t work out.
growing up, kylie lived in mexico up until she was 8, moving to LA to live with her dad’s family, but by the time she was 9 , she was bouncing between LA and CHICAGO , not really living with her parents but her family members, primarily her grandparents and uncle ( tito ) . her parents were young , and they wanted more for themselves . her dad rose to be a star soccer player in mexico , also playing for both Barcelona fc and Real Madrid fc . her mother started up a health and beauty business in Chicago called VIVA ESTHETICS  , specializing in skin care , makeup , nails , hair , etc . the company blew up with having notable clients and giving upscale service .
needless to say , her parents gave kylie and her siblings ( mainly half , besides one ) everything they wanted materialistically , but nothing physically or emotionally . kylie didn’t even grow up with most of her siblings ( her parents bounced around a lot ) , she grew up with her cousins , whereas she’d having a couple annual meetings with her own parents and siblings .
kylie was in LA for the rest of her childhood , living in chicago just for middle school before attending 4 different high schools in a different place every year because she’d be bouncing between family ( . . . . and just getting kicked out . ) Madrid/Barcelona (gr9) , London (gr10) , Los Angeles (gr11) and Chicago (gr12)
* PERSONALITY !
her growing up was messy , and not consistent , but kylie has a big heart for those that have been with her since day 1 ! even when she bounced around a lot , she was always super close with her grandparents on both sides , constantly calling them , or on facetime . she even has a favourite uncle ( tito ) from her mom’s side . tito pretty much was kylie’s older brother growing up , you know , he was the teenage uncle teaching his niece to swear as a baby lol . kylie learned being bad from seeing , she’s ALWAYS been stubborn , so when someone tells her she can’t hang with the boys , or won’t steal a car - - - - you bet kylie will do what you told her she can’t , and she’ll prove it with a cake face of makeup .
tito was a producer growing up , working with street artists and always making beats in his room . that’s where kylie got an appreciation for music . so whenever she was skipping class , she’d be in the studio , making excuses as to why she’s not in class and no one questioned her .
when she was in school , she wouldn’t listen , be that kid in the back of the class sleeping , or just not paying attention . and when she was in the halls , she’d get into SOME kind of fight , sometimes without even asking for it .
music was the one constant for her, so while she was skipping class , kylie was producing her own music, constantly making videos and on social media promoting herself, and she was successful at 13 ! signing to a label , and being groomed by said label over the years , releasing a few eps . she gained recognition through her freestyles online and her features on songs at 18 , going on to sell arenas , win awards , and a lot of things .
* WHAT’S GOING ON NOW . . .
about a year ago , kylie dropped her first album , a few months after that , she kinda just disappeared from being in the public eye . this b*tch literally GHOSTED EVERYONE . she didn’t give anyone a clear reason , even her fans were confused . it’s been pretty rare to catch a photo of her , and when you do it’s weeks or months between .
behind the scenes , she’s become a producer for her own roster of artists , creating her own minor label , a sub division of sony records , FRENCH KISS RECORDS , that no one knows she owns or is behind . she’s trying something new after being known as the spitfire . . . which she is , but she’s been chilling after dropping almost everyone .
about a week ago, kylie dropped a teaser on her instagram for a new collaborative song , and the next day , photos of her moving back to new york were all over TMZ . . . . and that’s all folks , we’ll see what chaos this shorty createssss :)
oh and she has a black cat named mijo , who is her child . that is all .

I'm just a foreign faction. Irreconcilable conflict at parties I feel like a chain reaction but sadly i don't know where it started
PART 1: THE BASICS
·         What is your full name?
Nyah Danielle Woods
·         Where and when were you born?
·         Who are/were your parents? (Know their names, occupations, personalities, etc.)
·         Do you have any siblings? What are/were they like?
·         Where do you live now, and with whom? Describe the place and the person/people.
·         What is your occupation?
·         Write a full physical description of yourself. You might want to consider factors such as: height, weight, race, hair and eye color, style of dress, and any tattoos, scars, or distinguishing marks.
·         To which social class do you belong?
·         ¿Clase media?
·         Do you have any allergies, diseases, or other physical weaknesses?
·         Soy alérgica a los mariscos…y los odio.
·         Are you right- or left-handed?
·         Diestra.
·         What does your voice sound like?
·         What words and/or phrases do you use very frequently?
·         Fuck.
·         What do you have in your pockets?
·         Do you have any quirks, strange mannerisms, annoying habits, or other defining characteristics?
·
PART 2: GROWING UP
·         How would you describe your childhood in general?
·         What is your earliest memory?
·         How much schooling have you had?
Primaria, secundaria y Universidad. The Full pack.
·         Did you enjoy school?
Sí, era bastante interesante.
·         Where did you learn most of your skills and other abilities?
·         While growing up, did you have any role models? If so, describe them.
·         While growing up, how did you get along with the other members of your family?
·         As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
Carpintera como mi padre.
·         As a child, what were your favorite activities?
·         As a child, what kinds of personality traits did you display?
·         As a child, were you popular? Who were your friends, and what were they like?
·         When and with whom was your first kiss?
·         Are you a virgin? If not, when and with whom did you lose your virginity?
·         If you are a supernatural being (i.e. mage, werewolf, vampire), tell the story of how you became what you are or first learned of your own abilities. If you are just a normal human, describe any influences in your past that led you to do the things you do today.
 PART 3: PAST INFLUENCES
·         What do you consider the most important event of your life so far?
La muerte de mi mejor amiga. Se llamaba Sydney. Tampoco me gusta hablar de eso.
·         Who has had the most influence on you?
Eres lesbiana, Nyah.
·         What do you consider your greatest achievement?
¿Seguir viva?
·         What is your greatest regret?
·         What is the most evil thing you have ever done?
·         Do you have a criminal record of any kind?
No. Sé cuando correr.
·         When was the time you were the most frightened?
·         What is the most embarrassing thing ever to happen to you?
·         If you could change one thing from your past, what would it be, and why?
·         What is your best memory?
·         What is your worst memory?
El funeral de Sydney.
 PART 4: BELIEFS & OPINIONS
·         Are you basically optimistic or pessimistic?
Pesimista
·         What is your greatest fear?
·         What are your religious views?
¿La verdad? Ya ni sé.
·         What are your political views?
¿Izquierdas?
·         What are your views on sex?
·         Are you able to kill? Under what circumstances do you find killing to be acceptable or unacceptable?
·         In your opinion, what is the most evil thing any human being could do?
No lo sé. ¿Destruir al planeta? ¿Abusar de los demás? Hay demasiadas posibilidades.
·         Do you believe in the existence of soul mates and/or true love?
·         What do you believe makes a successful life?
·         How honest are you about your thoughts and feelings (i.e. do you hide your true self from others, and in what way)?
·         Do you have any biases or prejudices?
Los hombres son idiotas…¿prejuicio? Nah.
·         Is there anything you absolutely refuse to do under any circumstances? Why do you refuse to do it?
·         Who or what, if anything, would you die for (or otherwise go to extremes for)?
Cualquier miembro de mi familia.
 PART 5: RELATIONSHIPS W/OTHERS
·         In general, how do you treat others (politely, rudely, by keeping them at a distance, etc.)? Does your treatment of them change depending on how well you know them, and if so, how?
·         Who is the most important person in your life, and why?
·         Who is the person you respect the most, and why?
·         Who are your friends? Do you have a best friend? Describe these people.
Tengo amigos…no mejores amigos.
·         Do you have a spouse or significant other? If so, describe this person.
No.
·         Have you ever been in love? If so, describe what happened.
·         What do you look for in a potential lover?
·         How close are you to your family?
Muy cercana.
·         Have you started your own family? If so, describe them. If not, do you want to? Why or why not?
·         Who would you turn to if you were in desperate need of help?
·         Do you trust anyone to protect you? Who, and why?
·         If you died or went missing, who would miss you?
Mis amigos y familia…quizás algún sensate…no lo sé, honestamente.
·         Who is the person you despise the most, and why?
Whispers. Esa fue fácil. Obvias razones.
·         Do you tend to argue with people, or avoid conflict?
·         Do you tend to take on leadership roles in social situations?
No. Me gusta pasar desapercibida.
·         Do you like interacting with large groups of people? Why or why not?
No, demasiado  ruido.
·         Do you care what others think of you?
 PART 6: LIKES & DISLIKES
·         What is/are your favorite hobbies and pastimes?
Pintar y escuchar música en mi casa. Sin dudas.
·         What is your most treasured possession?
·         What is your favorite color?
·         What is your favorite food?
·         What, if anything, do you like to read?
·         What is your idea of good entertainment (consider music, movies, art, etc.)?
·         Do you smoke, drink, or use drugs? If so, why? Do you want to quit?
Fumo, no demasiado.
·         How do you spend a typical Saturday night?
Trabajando.
·         What makes you laugh?
Vines... Y mis amigos.
·         What, if anything, shocks or offends you?
·         What would you do if you had insomnia and had to find something to do to amuse yourself?
·         How do you deal with stress?
Whisky.
·         Are you spontaneous, or do you always need to have a plan?
·         What are your pet peeves?
 PART 7: SELF IMAGES & OTHER
·         Describe the routine of a normal day for you. How do you feel when this routine is disrupted?
·         What is your greatest strength as a person?
·         What is your greatest weakness?
·         If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
No ser sensate.
·         Are you generally introverted or extroverted?
Introvertida.
·         Are you generally organized or messy?
Organizada en mi desorden.
·         Name three things you consider yourself to be very good at, and three things you consider yourself to be very bad at.
·         Do you like yourself?
Sí.
·         What are your reasons for being an adventurer? Are your real reasons for doing this different than the ones you tell people in public? (If so, detail both sets of reasons…)
·         What goal do you most want to accomplish in your lifetime?
¿Sinceramente? Solo quiero vivir tranquila.
·         Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
Próxima pregunta.
·         If you could choose, how would you want to die?
Durmiendo.
·         If you knew you were going to die in 24 hours, name three things you would do in the time you had left.
Tomar whisky, abrazar a mi familia y tomar whisky con mi familia.
·         What is the one thing for which you would most like to be remembered after your death?
·         What three words best describe your personality?
Calmada, resolutiva y sensible.
·         What three words would others probably use to describe you?
Fría, despreocupada y generosa.

My first letter.
~~~
I urge you to learn to appreciate every little thing, every little gesture that others do for us. Maybe it seems obvious, but it is not. I do it, and do not imagine how much better you live, with the awareness that someone has had a thought for you. Even a "hello" on the street, a tag on social media; from a sweet message to an invitation to go out are all signs that someone has thought of you, me, us. And it is not obvious because not everyone has this luck. The good fortune to have people who also use only a few seconds of their life to think of you: it is a precious fortune, because time is precious. If there are those who give their time to you who are reading, you can consider it a victory. Appreciate it. And besides all this, appreciates beauty. From mere physical beauty to the inner beauty of everyone, to that of a painting, of the sky or of an exchange of silent glances. All the small events, situations that we are able to appreciate add up, and form a concentration of love that will make our life better.
At least I think so, I kept the letters and roses of my boyfriend in elementary school, and all the gestures, messages and sweet thoughts of each person who gave me something of all this, even a passerby who gave me directions, or a German who, on the morning in the mountains, if you meet and you are both outing, says "Hallo!" And from there the day begins with a bit more joy, takes a positive turn.
And I appreciate it.
Free to agree or not.
Monday...I’ll hate this Sept. 24th Forever.
This late afternoon on my facebook account, I heard the unfortunate and saddest news concerning one of my longtime best friends “Chrissie” from her fiance/longtime boyfriend Nathan...Chrissie had been in the hospital due for a week to a weekend for a sort of cold flu infection and her longtime bad health concerning heart issues she’s had from her family’s side of the family on her late Mother’s side.  Nathan told me the bad news that, sadly...Chrissie passed away yesterday on Sunday in the hospital due to respiratory heart issues and from being sick from that possible cold or cold virus she had.
Tumblr media
I knew Chrissie for years since our love for the love metal band H.I.M. brought us together to cross paths on the HIM fan club online on MySpace during the early 2000′s MySpace days when we crossed paths on social media. We kept in touch, via AIM on AOL/YIM Yahoo Instant Messager, exchange snail mail addresses to become goth/love metal/HIM pen pals. We had so much in common with art, music, the love for The Nightmare Before Christmas, Tim Burton, Horror Movies, The Crow, Metal Love music, the band HIM naturally, Jackass/Viva La Bam MTV Series, being both foodies, crafters/knitters, and art lovers. Always snail mail packages without warning to each other.
The love we had for stupid shows like Jackass, Viva La Bam, South Park, then anime classics to even Pee-Wee’s Playhouse and Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure the movie. She’d always lose her shit whenever I’d randomly mail her drawings or illustrations I’d make for her portraits of her favorite musicians, artists, icons she adored like Ville Valo of HIM, Edgar Allan Poe, Janis Joplin, to even collages of elemental nature/witch-themed spooky Halloween things she got a kick out of and would plaster her walls with them all hung up, sending me pics via social media and on our blogs/social media accounts for me to see. We both were cat lovers, owned/had cats. Gave each other encouragement and advice all the time, even calling another to just at random cheer the other up when we’d read a MySpace or LJ post to know one of us had a shitty day and clearly needed some cheering up or someone to talk to/vent to just to feel better. As we’d often joke, “Christine! Chrissie! You are the Frank Iero of MCR to my Gerard Way!” “Cassandra! Cass-Cass! You are the Gerard Way of MCR to my Frank Iero!!! Never let us change!!!!”
Two Goth Shitty-Teen Young Adult College Girls who lived across the country in the states from each other who never met in person/IRL connected/bonded in friendship over the same hobbies, music, art, and band...WTF right? I suppose our friendship made sense to the two of us and those in our lives who knew/know us personally.
One time after the hell I had gone through in my past of ending a bad relationship with my then ex-boyfriend in 2007 (I had left him after a summer visiting him out of state where he and his family lived after things ended very badly between him and I concerning...him cheating on me and him having been verbally/physically abusive towards me.) When I had arrived home in CA, Chrissie had mailed me a package. Opening it, I discovered band shirts of MCR and HIM she had gotten me when she had attended in PA or NY the Projeckt Revolution Tour earlier that summer, as well as sending me zines, art supplies to make a ‘recover after leaving asshole loser ex’ zine journal, junk food of my favorite treats, soda, band merch from Hot Topic of HIM things she got me. And even a giant Throw blanket Gothic Fairy for my June Birthday. (Which I still have to this day.) She even had once surprised me once Christmas with a HIM alarm classic clock that I’ll always cherish and mixtape cds of our favorite Helsinki Love Metal, Metal, and Gothic Bands and rare HIM songs as a surprise gift out of the blue she had given me. In exchange, I always sent her awesome stuff in the same things.
We’d send each other surprises always. We always talked about once we got our adult-life college shit together done with, both of us saving up with our boyfriends/long term life-mates/guys, and all of us having our legal passports ready, that we’d both jetset from our home turfs in KS and CA to duo group travel together to vacation in Japan, Canada, the UK, and Europe together to go to Estonia and Finland which was our geek goth girl goals. As well as her coming out to CA on the one day I’d plan for my one-day future goth-geek themed wedding, asking her to be apart of my bridesmaids in my wedding party since we’ve known another for ages/years as longtime HIM-besties.
Right now, I don’t know really how to feel about this news, I’m devastated and just sad knowing Chrissie’s not here anymore and poor Nathan, what he’s going through with everything along with Chrissie’s family in KS and PA. I’m going to miss Chrissie, and our once a week/weekend online and skype/phone conversations/talks/chats. I hope where ever she is now that she’s alright. XO
WHO WAS THE MEMPHIS MAFIA ? Part 3) Red West was in charge of security and in later years was involved with some of Elvis music. Occationally Red would leave to pursue acting or music. After 1976 he no longer wocked-for-Eivls. Red has starred in such television programs as "The Wild Wild West," The Black Sheep Squadron, and "The Duke." West contributed to several songs written to Elvis Presley in 1961 and 1962. He received help from Elvis Presley in writing two songs in the early 1960s, which were collaborations: "You'll Be Gone" and "That's Someone You Never Forget". "That's Someone You Never Forget" was the final track on the 1962 album Pot Luck. The song was released as a 45-rpm B-side single in 1967 and was featured on the Artist of the Century compilation. "You'll Be Gone" was featured on the "Girl Happy (album)" as a bonus track. West also co-wrote "If You Think I Don't Need You" with Joey Cooper for the motion picture Viva Las Vegas. He teamed up with Joey Cooper again on "I'm A Fool", which Ricky Nelson recorded.[10] "I'm A Fool" later became a hit for Dino, Desi and Billy, the partnership of Dean-Paul "Dino" Martin, Desi Arnaz Jr., and William "Billy" Hinsche. West also co wrote the song "Separate Ways" with Richard Mainegra for Elvis in 1972 and "If You Talk in Your Sleep" a track from Presley's 1975 album Promised Land. The latter song was written by Red West and Johnny Christopher. Red also wrote "If Every Day Was Like Christmas", recorded by Elvis Presley in 1966. In addition to writing for Elvis, Red also had songs recorded by the likes of Pat Boone, Rick Nelson, Johnny Burnette, Johnny Rivers, Dino, Desi & Billy, Petula Clark, Gary Puckett & The Union Gap, Andre Kostelanetz and His Orchestra, and Little Milton to name a few. In 1976, West was involved in a series of heavy-handed incidents in Las Vegas with aggressive fans that got out of hand, drawing criticism from the media. More than that, West was becoming more vocal about Presley's drug problem and how he needed help. As a result, West, his cousin Sonny West, and a third bodyguard named David Hebler were fired by Elvis's father, Vernon Presley, who hated most, if not all, of the members of his son's entourage. West subsequently helped write the book Elvis: What Happened?, which was published weeks before Presley's death. The book, according to West in the book, was an attempt to help Presley, but believed by some to be an attempt to retaliate and earn an income after being fired. When Presley was making films in the 1960s in Hollywood, Red West appeared in small roles in sixteen of the star's films. During this time, West became good friends with actor Nick Adams and his physical abilities got him hired on as a stuntman on Adams' television series, The Rebel. From there, West went on to do more stunt work in film as well as developing a career as an actor in a number of motion pictures and on television. He was often on screen as a henchman in the television series The Wild Wild West. West played Master Sergeant Andy Micklin on Baa Baa Black Sheep. He guest starred twice on the CBS hit detective series Magnum, P.I. as different characters, as five different ones on The A-Team, the Knight Rider pilot episode "Knight of the Phoenix", on The Fall Guy, Simon & Simon and in "The Once and Future King", an episode of The Twilight Zone. In 1989 West appeared in the action film Road House with Patrick Swayze as Red Webster, the auto parts store owner. West played the lead role in the 2008 independent film Goodbye Solo as William, an elderly depressed man who befriends a Senegalese man in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.[3] The film received positive reviews and critic Roger Ebert remarked that "West isn't playing himself, but he evokes his character so fully that he might as well be. West's face is a map of hard living". His last film role was in the 2013 film Safe Haven as Roger, an elderly store clerk in Southport, North Carolina West died on July 18, 2017, after developing an aortic aneurysm, at the Baptist Hospital in Memphis. He was 81. His death occurred less than two months after the death of his cousin, actor Sonny West, in May 2017. His funeral and burial at Memorial Park Cemetery was held on July 24 in Memphis
Open letter to the President of York University and the Board of Governors:Settle with CUPE 3903 now!
We, the undersigned current and former full-time professors, librarians and archivists at York University, are deeply concerned with the unilateral and unproductive approach taken by York’s central administration and Board of Governors to the CUPE 3903 strike. This approach has had serious, detrimental effects on learning, teaching, academic decision-making, and job security for a range of workers at York University. And it undermines public trust in our university.  Months before the strike began, York University’s President and Provost issued calls for binding arbitration. These actions signaled their refusal to bargain with CUPE on major, qualitative bargaining issues such as job security, employment and graduate funding (which arbitrators often deemphasize).  During the strike, central administrators have dedicated their efforts to ending the strike by force, without bargaining; they pushed a forced ratification vote on CUPE members, convinced the province to send a special commissioner, and lobbied for back-to-work legislation.  Each of these efforts failed but wasted weeks of potential bargaining time.  At the same time, York University’s Central Administration has conducted an intense public relations campaign, blaming the union for lack of movement. The Administration’s inept approach has paralyzed talks and created confusion and consternation among students and other members of the University.  As of May 10, the councils of five faculties, ten departments, and more than fifteen graduate and undergraduate student associations, passed motions of non-confidence in President Rhonda Lenton and York’s Board of Governors chaired by Rick Waugh. Comprising programs that represent more than 50% of York’s full-time faculty members and over 70% of undergraduate and graduate students, these motions condemn the Administrations’ refusal to negotiate with CUPE 3903 and its inability to engage in sound and collegial decision-making. For example, the Faculty of Graduate Studies and the York Federation of Students also passed motions of non-confidence. The significance of motions made by these two bodies cannot be under-estimated. The motions indicate that an overwhelming majority of graduate and undergraduate students have no confidence in the present Administration.  Crucially, York University’s Central Administration has also undermined the collegial authority of Senate on academic matters. In doing so the Central Administration risks betraying its fiduciary duties, undermining academic integrity and circumventing the York Act.  Now, in the 12th week of the CUPE 3903 strike, the Central Administration canceled summer term courses taught by members of CUPE 3903, which leaves students few options but to take courses at other universities. At the same time, the Administration has started to assign grades to graduating students based on their grade average, not based on work done in the winter courses that were suspended by the strike. These decisions, which are taken to put pressure on CUPE and YUFA (York University Faculty Association), are deeply troubling and put the educational reputation of the University at risk.  In light of widespread concerns about the future of our university, we seek an immediate end to the labour dispute. We call on the York University Administration and the Board of Governors to (1) respect collegial governance processes, including the role of Senate; and act in the University’s best interest by (2) return to the bargaining table with CUPE 3903 to reach a settlement.  Signatories Greg Albo, Department of PoliticsAimé Avolonto, French department, GlendonRanu Basu, Department of GeographyShannon Bell, Department of PoliticsJody Berland, Department of HumanitiesMalcolm Blincow, Professor Emeritus, AnthropologyPhilippe Bourdin, French Studies and Lingusitic Program, GlendonRob Bowman, Department of MusicMartin Breaugh, Department of PoiliticsLinda Briskin, Department/School of Gender, Sexuality and Women’s StudiesSheila Cavanagh, Department of SociologyDavid Cecchetto, Depeartment of HumanitiesChris Chapman, School of Social WorkClaudia Chaufan, School of Health Policy and ManagementSylwia Chrostowska, Department of HumanitiesBruce Connell, Linguistics and Language, GlendonMarc Couroux, Department of Visual Art and Art HistoryElizabeth Dauphinee, Department of PoliticsNancy Viva Davis Halifax, Faculty of HealthLykke de la Cour, Social ScienceKathryn Denning, Department of AnthropologyWilliam Denton, York University LibrariesMario DiPaolantonio, Faculty of EducationLisa Drummond, Department of Social ScienceBarbara Evans, Department of Cinema and Media ArtsSarah Flicker, Faculty of Environmental StudiesHonor Ford-Smith, Faculty of Environmental StudiesJennifer Foster, Faculty of Environmental StudiesGail Fraser, Faculty of Environmental StudiesAmber Gazso, Department of SociologyLiette Gilbert, Faculty of Environmental StudiesStephen Gill, Department of PoliticsAmanda Glasbeek, Department of Social ScienceLuin Goldring, Department of SociologyTed Gossen, Department of HumanitiesJohn Greyson, Department of Cinema and Media ArtsRicardo Grinspun, Department of EconomicsShubhra Gururani, Department of AnthropologyRatiba Hadj-Moussa, Department of SociologyLaam Hae, Department of PoliticsPhillip Harland, Department of HumanitiesJudy Hellman, Professor Emerita, Social Science and Politics DepartmentsStephen Hellman, Professor Emeritus, Department of PoliticsCraig Heron, Professor Emeritus, Department of HistoryRob Heynen, Department of Communication StudiesTeresa Holmes, Department of AnthropologyPablo Idahosa, Department of Social ScienceSusan Ingram, Department of HumanitesStanley Jeffers, Associate Professor Emeritus, Department of Physics and AstronomyWilliam Jenkins, Department of GeographySherry Johnson, Department of MusicIlan Kapoor, Faculty of Environmental StudiesEva C. Welcome back to the roaring 20’s my friends! It’s time to have 20/20 vision as we enter the year 2020 for the WWE. And with it, it begins the road to the Royal Rumble and more importantly, the road to WrestleMania in Tampa this April!
.@YaOnlyLivvOnce is HERE…and she's in love with @LanaWWE?! #RAW #LanaLashleyWedding pic.twitter.com/RDDPnNV0Ep
— WWE (@WWE) December 31, 2019
Star of the week – Lana and Liv.
How could it not be, right! Lana absolutely stole the show this Monday night as the overbearing bride-to-be in the near nuptials with Bobby Lashley. We now know of course that Liv Morgan spoiled the party by coming out as Lana’s lover while Ruse crashed and crushed Lashley after hiding out in the oversized wedding cake in the ring. While some on social media panned it, I absolutely found it entertaining as hell! What once was a storyline we all wanted to just go away, now has legs and a new twist with I’m sure a mixed tag-team match to come.
Plus, it looks like we’ll be seeing more of AJ Styles and Randy Orton as Orton faked a knee injury to RKO Styles with a rope-a-dope promo bringing back memories of Mark Henry’s faux retirement to squash John Cena.
How about the newcomers? John Morrison, Sheamus and The Usos all found their way back to the WWE Friday night on the first Smackdown of the year. The most intriguing of the trio to me is Morrison as it appears The Miz is headed down the heel turn road. While the crowd may love the babyface Miz, a more serious, in it for me Miz is him at his best. The question will be can the WWE Universe hate him in the ring while loving him on Miz & Mrs.? A dilemma indeed!
RAW
RESULTS
Aleister Black defeated Buddy Murphy
Erick Rowan defeated Kip Stevans
Charlotte Flair defeated Natalya
The Street Profits defeated The O.C.
Drew McIntyre defeated Zack Ryder & Curt Hawkins
Non-title Match: US Champion Andrade defeated Ricochet
What we loved:
.@RusevBUL is HERE! The #LanaLashleyWedding just took a WILD turn on #RAW pic.twitter.com/I4Z2rUdVVq
— WWE (@WWE) December 31, 2019
Viva La Lana & Liv – Absolutely loved the wedding! Sure, it probably went a tad too long and messed up some folks DVR tapings, but as far as entertaining, it was an absolute grand slam!  From it all being about Lana to Rusev in the cake to Liv Morgan coming out as Lana’s lover, it hit all the buttons. And kudos to the Reverend, actor Scott Malone who said it was the craziest 20 minutes of his acting career. Welcome to a WWE wedding Mr. Malone. Now to those ECW fans out there, this one was surely a Paul Heyman storyline with shades of Beulah McGillicutty and Kimona in the ECW Arena.
The #LanaLashleyWedding on #Raw did NOT go as @LanaWWE had planned! But hey, at least there was cake!
Tumblr media
— WWE (@WWE) December 31, 2019
Black vs. Murphy – These two delivered once again. The only thing I ask is that somewhere down the road, they give these two an hour to do an IronMan Match! Physical and exciting as hell!
The Street Profits get some street cred – A much needed win against top competition for the The Street Profits. With the victory, they thrust themselves into the tag team title picture, facing The O.C. and The Viking Raiders in a triple-threat match this Monday night on RAW.
What we didn’t love:
TV 101 – Ok, to those who don’t know, I’ve produced a bit of tv in my day, so when things don’t make sense it drives me crazy! So, when you announce that Andrade will take on Rey Mysterio, Jr. in a rematch for the US Title next week before you show the footage of Andrade winning the title, it makes no sense. It’s the look things that make continuity folks! Make it seamless.
NXT
Adam Cole – NXT Male Competitor of the Year
Shayna Baszler – NXT Female Competitor of the Year
Johnny Gargano and Adam Cole – NXT Rivalry of the Year
Dakota Kai – NXT Future Star of the Year
TakeOver: WarGame – NXT TakeOver of the Year
Johnny Gargano vs. Adam Cole 2-out-3-Falls at TakeOver: New York – NXT Match of the Year
The Street Profits defeated Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch, The Forgotten Sons, & Kyle O’Reilly and Bobby Fish to win NXT Tag Team Titles
TakeOver: WarGames – Team Ripley defeated Team Baszler
TakeOver: New York – Johnny Gargano defeated Adam Cole to become NXT champion
A taped show for the first episode of NXT of the new decade. While it’s nice to showcase some of the best matches not shown on broadcast TV, I didn’t quite get the awards portion of the show. Why did we get Steven Regal handing out awards in an empty arena in the middle of the ring? It all seemed flat and with no purpose to showcase the best of NXT, especially after the momentum they built all year long. It just seemed like a throwaway. The ratings definitely proved it as a live edition of All Elite Wrestling nearly doubled NXT in ratings.
One good thing, we get the brackets for the 2020 Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic:
SMACKDOWN
RESULTS
Triple Threat Match: Lacey Evans & Dana Brooke defeated Sasha Banks & Bayley and Alexa Bliss & Nikki Cross
Chad Gable defeated Dash Wilder (Submission)
Kofi Kingston defeated The Miz
Otis defeated Drew Gulak
Braun Strowman defeated Cesaro
Roman Reigns & Daniel Bryan defeated King Corbin & Dolph Ziggler (by DQ when The Fiend interfered)
What we loved:
That ain't no make believe! @TheRealMorrison is BACK and he's on @WWE Friday Night #SmackDown.
Welcome back – 2020 kicks off with a trio of returns. First, John Morrison is back to help out his old friend The Miz after his loss to Kofi Kingston. Then, Sheamus gets a huge pop to chase off The Revival only to lay out Shorty Gable. Finally, The Usos end the night to save their cousin Roman Reigns from another dog food beatdown from Dolph Ziggler and King Corbin. Good things ahead should be coming from all three (or four).
You're never the the same after facing 'The Fiend' @WWEBrayWyatt. As @mikethemiz has just proven. #SmackDown pic.twitter.com/Fs54tzuQsh
Mike The Miz-erable – It looks like we have a heel turn coming ladies and gentleman. Of course, we get The Miz is still bitter about The Fiend and missing out on a shot to get back at him at Royal Rumble now that Daniel Bryan beat him last week. But now, we get that frustration being taken out on The New Day and John Morrison is suddenly back to help his former tag team partner. Intriguing indeed could be The New Day vs. The Miz and Morrison. A slo-mo entrance is sure to follow!
The obligatory Otis – We have got to see Mama Otis, don’t we! I hope it doesn’t disappoint when Mamma meets Mandy Rose! Just a bit each week does us good!
What we didn’t get:
Where was The Miz – If The Miz is so hell bent on getting back at The Fiend, where was he during the main event when The Fiend attacked Daniel Bryan? Shouldn’t he have been racing out there to save the man he started the show wishing good luck to against The Fiend? It’s all in the details my friends.
The start – Why can’t we just start a WWE show with a match? The ladies tag team match was a very good one with the triple threat, but we had to endure the first segment of talk and a commercial break before getting to it. Sometimes less is more and the crowd, both at the arena and at home watching on tv, would get more into the show with action to start. Agree? Disagree? Let us know!
Parting shots:
Brock Lesnar – what will the Beast bring in 2020? We find out Monday night on RAW. Will we get an off-beat challenger for Royal Rumble – can you say Erick Rowan? Or does Seth Rollins and the Authors of Pain make him the next victim? Eiher way, you’ve got a bunch of unpredictability to Lesnar and the future of the Universal Champion.
Congratulations, @AndradeCienWWE & @MsCharlotteWWE!
Congratulations to Charlotte Flair and Andrade on their engagement! How soon will it be until we get the next great power couple in the WWE on TV?
Online mediation practice, or curator in the Web
Net-art... So ephemeral, independent and creative specific sphere for producing new advanced pieces of contemporary art with the help of technical and digital achievements... On the other hand, this artistic movement is terra incognita for institutionalised curators, artists, museums and galleries; net-art appears as something marginal, out of the main art stream movements. Here we have an issue with the role of the art institution in net-art. Also we faced with the appropriate contextualisation of net-art into the nowadays processes and alterations. Can we describe unique character of the “artist-curator” connection on the web? Which problems faced curator during this or her curating of the virtual art? Finally, does the curator is important figure for online exhibitions or this role can be appropriate by an artist? In the early 90s Internet presented itself as a self-sufficing medium which represented art in the different ways and developed itself according to the unique trajectory. Thus, net-art appeared as a new special branch of the site-specific art, only depended on the Internet connection. Net-art artists find themselves devoid of the institutions using variety methods and practices. Statement by Joseph Beuys Everyone is an artist describes the phenomenon of net-art accurately because of the expanded influence of Internet over our real and virtual reality. Thus, every net surfer is capable to create and expose his or her internet-art piece. Net-art first principles provided an utopian concept of creating independent conversational democratic platform for art exhibiting and researches. Also theoretics of net-art raised a question of the traditional art forms reconsideration, which was connected with the appearance of the new art mediums: electronic-, net- and media-art.  Net-art curatorial practice began in 1998 and this occurrence was one of the first attempt to institutionalise divided net-art space. Net-art attempts to overcome its own specific of intimacy and privacy and now it reveal a need in the popularisation. In this case curator faces with the problem of virtual-real representation in the virtual-real context: therefrom net-art proceeds to post internet-art. The main specific character of Internet curating is that curating in the Internet space appears as an infinite continued process: as against gallery or museum curatorial practice, because it has a final goals – an exhibition in the physical space.
In this case we tried to detach four courses of the net-art curation and instantiated it:
artist who curates (digital art exhibition by Lin Hsin Hsin who created not only virtual exhibition but also his own virtual museum):
http://www.lhham.com.sg
museum which curates (instantiated by the MoMA digitizing experience of Pontus Hulten 1968-1969 exhibition The Machine as Seen at the End of the Mechanical Age):
https://www.moma.org/calendar/exhibitions/2776?locale=en
audience who curates (Internet project The Most Wanted Paintings on the Web by Russian sots artists Komar and Melamid):
http://awp.diaart.org/km/index.html
curator who curates (instantiated by student of curatorial research master program virtual biennale experience)
These virtual biennales on tumblr appear as online-exhibitions. Curator has a dominate role in this project, thus he or she can use various tools and conceptions to create his or her own piece. First of all virtual biennale conceptualises the idea of never been exposed exhibition in the physic space (as you can see metARTpoliten dedicated to the interesting correlations between metro stations, art and daily routine objects and has not any potential to be exposed as an post-internet piece.
Besides, our virtual biennales have a postmodern idea of incongruous elements combination, for example project The Act of Touching provides ironically the idea of touching which could not be realised in the virtual space. Human Things refers to the theme of human but it is not connected with humanity, it is about material objects.
Also virtual biennales incorporate ordinary objects in the art context (project Call One-One-Two).
Nevertheless now it is a story not about net-art, because you see these projects in the physical art space. Viva la postinternet-art!
Review of the 3 Paris shows
Hello, it’s been a while since I’ve written something on my blog and just been on tumblr. Last time that I was really there, I wrote the review of my journey of 10 Coldplay shows in Europe. It’s been over a year and now, I feel like writing something again, about these last 3 Coldplay shows in Europe because those were incredible, full of happiness and tears, and because I just wanted to share my experience with any of you who would be interested to read it.
Night #1
So let’s start with night #1, it was a really special night for me because of two things: It was the first concert since my journey of 10 Coldplay shows last year and the first concert where I brought my best friends. They didn’t see Coldplay before, I was excited to share this night with them and just to see them react and discover a Coldplay concert in this era.
We arrived at the Stade de France at 9:30am, gate H and there was already a lot of people waiting, maybe 40 people. The wait was very long, as you can imagine, even with my experience of concerts, I will never get used to that, you always have to be ready, physically and mentally prepared for the day. Fortunately, the bar next to us, was playing a playlist full of Coldplay songs, from Viva to AHFOD so it was good to get us excited for the night.
At 5:15pm, they opened the gates, I grabbed my 2 xylobands and my love button but I had to wait for my best friends. The line for the girls was very long, I was waiting for like 2-3 minutes (which are very long minutes in these moments), my best friends finally went through the checking and we tried to run fast. There was a steward who kept yelling “Don’t run! It’s pointless, everybody has already taken your spot inside!” I was torn between frustration and just laughter (also wanted to punch him). Inside, there was indeed already a lot of people at the barriers, we chose the main stage, Guy’s side, we had a good view even if there was a lot of people in front of us.
At 7:15pm, Lyves came on stage. I listened to her a bit before and thought she was good, especially her song ‘Visions’. Unfortunately, the sound wasn’t really high, and the overall performance was perhaps too calm to get the audience excited. Tove Lo came on stage at 8pm, I listened to her too before, not my cup of tea at all, although I kinda like ‘True Disaster’. Overall it was good, I mean for her genre, sometimes it felt a bit indecent but anyway, at least the performance woke the audience up.
On social media, they said that Coldplay would come on stage at 9:15pm. Not surprising to say that they were late, they came at 9:25pm! The intro video changed a bit, I was wondering how they would change it after last year since they played so many dates now, and the result is really good now. All the intro videos of all the cities have been accelerated, shown in a circle with a countdown in the middle, starting at 45 sec. They showed the videos from Dublin and Cardiff and when the countdown finished, the video from our city appeared. I was shocked to see that the girl in the video is someone I knew. She was actually the girl who helped me in London to meet the band! So I will be forever grateful to her. The guy next to her is a guy that I will meet after for the Night #2 but let’s keep on with Night #1 for now.
The concert started and I felt like I never really left them. It’s been more than a year but the feeling, the emotions were still here, as if my journey was just yesterday. I knew exactly all the little things, didn’t forget a single thing. I rarely cry on ‘The Scientist’ (don’t ask me why) but this one was very emotional and I couldn’t hold back my tears. The same goes with ‘Fix You’, I mean the new version of ‘Fix You’. Since I don’t like this mix with ‘Midnight’, I rarely cry on ‘Fix You’ this tour. Why here, why now, that’s one mystery. And it doesn’t stop here, I usually cry on ‘Up&Up’, and this time I didn’t. Maybe because my best friends knew me and expected me to cry so I was like “NOT THIS TIME GIRLS, LOOK AT MY EYES, LOOK AT MY EYES, I HAVE NOTHING IN MY EYES!!”.
This night was probably one of the best of the tour, one of my favourites for sure because of my best friends, the great view, I just missed them so much and at the same time, felt like they never left me (doesn’t make any sense whatsover). Chris messed up as usual, making the ‘Everglow’ performance like a funny one, and I really thought he did it again on ‘Charlie Brown’. I haven’t seen any videos of it this year so I didn’t know that he would stop it on purpose. The whole idea of not having any phones and just enjoying the moment is perfect. I wish they could do that for the whole concert (ESPECIALLY ON NIGHT #3 BUT YOU WILL SEE LATER). That performance of ‘Charlie Brown’ was probably the most fun I’ve ever experienced. Funny how just a little thing like putting our phones down makes the performance memorable. One big family gathered and jumping to the stars together, that was a big thing. Speaking of phones, I decided for these 3 shows to take no photos / videos and just enjoy the concerts fully, and that was a great decision.
The big announcement of the new DVD filmed in Paris made me so excited but I was also so surprised. I really thought that they would film at Wembley or any of the South American tour and not here, because they already did in 2012. A part of me is grateful for them to choose one of my concerts in Paris again, and another part thinks it’s unfair for the others. Back to the concert, first time on this tour that I get to hear ‘God Put A Smile Upon Your Face’ live and that new version was so good! Love the interaction with the audience at the end, seemed like everybody had fun on this one.
It was also the first time I get to hear the new version of ‘Don’t Panic’. I didn’t see any videos of the duet Will - Jonny before so it was a total surprise for me. And what a great surprise, it works perfectly well, Will’s sweet voice combined with Jonny’s even more confident voice is one of the biggest highlights of the night. Unfortunately, the audience request thing became irrelevant, it seems that even the band doesn’t believe in this anymore and doesn’t want to take risks by just playing the same songs again and again. Even for us, it became a joke, people request ‘Us Against the World’ because they know there’s a high chance they would play it.
I’m still not over the fact that they removed ‘Amazing Day’ from the setlist, they replaced it by ‘Something Just Like This’. Not the biggest fan of putting it before ‘A Sky Full of Stars’, seems like they decided to make a mix of everything and put it on stage for this one, like the fireworks, the fire, the confetti, the xylobands all together. But I had a good time on this one, first time I see this song live and I must admit that it looks good overall.
I would always remember that moment on ‘Up&Up’ where I just felt like hugging my best friends for the whole ending. I didn’t want them to leave me, they were in my arms and it was just an amazing feeling. Friendship and love.
So overall I had a wonderful evening, although I’m still not a fan of some things on the setlist. I completely forget those things and forgive them when they put such uplifting perfomances as ‘A Head Full of Dreams’, ‘Charlie Brown’, ‘Hymn For the Weekend’, ‘Adventure Of a Lifetime’ or ‘A Sky Full of Stars’ and such emotional perfomances as ‘The Scientist’, ‘Fix You’, ‘Everglow’ or ‘Up&Up’.
Night #2
My best friends left me because they had to work so here I was, alone for Night #2. Well, not really, I knew 2 people from tumblr, Anniina and Andreea, both with early entries. My gate was gate A, I arrived by noon and there was like 50 people there. It was a really sunny day but I was lucky because the gate A was the only gate protected by trees and shadows! The wait was shorter than the others and they opened the gates on time.
I grabbed my xyloband (only 1 this time), my love button, ran as fast I could, chose Jonny’s side and then I saw Anniina. She was at the barrier, very close to the main stage. She helped me getting through the crowd and getting a better view so I will always be grateful to her. While waiting for the opening acts, I met the guy from the intro video (some crazy guy who bought 3 early entries) and a woman, crazier than me, she did 16 Coldplay shows! We talked a lot about our Coldplay experiences, about our meetings with them because she also met them and all that in english, which is funny considering that we are both french. There was a lot of foreigners around us, which was great, and a lot of hardcore fans, which was even greater. It really felt like one big family and I already knew that this part of the crowd, at least, would be amazing.
Nothing really to add about the opening acts, unless that Tove Lo showed her breasts during one song (not gonna to say anything about that). 9:15pm and Coldplay came on time, they took me by surprise, I expected them to be late again!
The nice and unexpected surprise came from R42. We saw him before the concert, he stopped in front of us, saw the beautiful sign of Anniina and just decided to take her in picture here. I was right next to her so here I am with the group on all social media and I was seriously freaking out to see my face, it all happened so quickly, I was in shock and I think Anniina was even more!
I expected a few changes on the setlist, but they didn’t really change anything. Except some new improvised song in French by Chris, and ‘Trouble’. I had one great and close view of Chris when he was on the floor singing ‘Fix You’ so I had so much feelings about this. I didn’t even cry this night, maybe because I was just too happy to be surrounded by such crazy and happy fans so I was so happy with them.
They filmed our group of people a lot. During ‘The Scientist’, ‘Paradise’, ‘Viva La Vida’... I think the cameraman liked our group. The craziest thing was on ‘Up&Up’ when the cameraman just asked us to be even closer to each other and just sing to the camera. So just like this, a big group full of passionate people, hugging, jumping and singing together on ‘Up&Up’, pretty perfect picture right? If they put those moments on the DVD, my life would be complete.
We had one scary moment though, Chris stopped ‘A Sky Full of Stars’ nearly at the end of the song because he saw something in the crowd. We all stopped, we saw a stretcher and Chris just went on the B-stage, asking if everything was ok, seemed like a person fainted. More fear than harm though, they restarted the song so we basically had ‘A Sky Full of Stars’ twice, it was hard to keep the same level of energy but it was so amazing.
Overall it was as good as the first night, so it was also one of the best of this tour, thanks to the crowd around me, thanks to Anniina who gave me a great spot and the chance of being on the photo of R42 and to the band who gave its best as usual.
Night #3
I had one day off before that night so I had time to restore my energy and just rest (well not really because I became the personal guide of Anniina to visit Paris :3). This time, I had gate D, the steward was nice (first time a steward is nice so that’s something to say), I arrived at 9:30am and there was 10 people before me. I was aiming for the barrier of the B-Stage, I was waiting for Andreea to arrive at 2pm but didn’t know if I could keep a spot on the line for her. It was already very sunny and hot (35°) and fortunately, the people around me had the good idea to buy survival blankets to protect all the line from the sun. So we had little shelters, I even had time to sleep a little.
Andreea arrived at 2pm as I said, and she could go with me because the steward was kind. I was already feeling exhausted by the day because of the heat but this was the last night so I wanted to give my full energy even though it was hard. The gates opened on time, I grabbed my xyloband and... not my love button because they didn’t give any to anyone? I don’t know what happened, but then I was waiting for Andreea for like a minute and we tried to reach the barrier of the B-Stage.
We weren’t at the barrier but on the second row, which is good but a big guy was right in front of us (petition for not putting tall people at the barriers) and the lights of the B-Stage hide us the view of the main stage. But it was good, because we would have a pretty great view of their set on the B-Stage and we would have a chance to see them even closer when they would go to the C-Stage.
It was so hot inside, there was already a lot of people fainting or just feeling sick because of the heat. I couldn’t even stand too long because of that, it was just unbearable, probably one of the hardest waits on concerts in my life. You have to be really patient in those moments. The opening acts came and I was already tired to wait for 2 more hours. The band came almost on time and suddenly I realized that it was the very last time I see them this tour and had to enjoy each second of this concert (well i knew that before but it suddenly became real you know?).
A funny story is that an elephant guy and his wife came right next to us before the concert. The cameraman wanted to film them for the screens but I guess also for the DVD. So basically I danced and sang the whole night with an elephant next to me. That’s not something common to say. There was also a lot of latinas around me, that part of the crowd was good but the other... That was the negative point of the night.
Seriously I don’t understand them. How can you enjoy a concert when all you’re doing is just taking videos? Not even singing or dancing or jumping, just staying still? How can you? I was mad at them, angry because it could have been a perfect night without them, and they were at the barriers! I tried to stay calm but it was difficult, they were all like that even during the beginning of ‘Charlie Brown’, fortunately there was this thing where Chris stopped the song and asked everybody to put their phones down, at least they did that.
But the biggest highlight of this concert was the moment when they came down and went to the C-Stage. During ‘Adventure of a Lifetime’, the stewards prepared the line, and the big space to the C-Stage. Me and Andreea were already prepared, we were just in front of the stewards. When ‘Amazing Grace’ was played, Jonny came first, we touched his shoulder and Andreea was already fainting. Then Will, Guy and Chris but they were rushing. When they came back on the main stage before ‘Hypnotised’, we tried again. Will and Guy were still rushing, Jonny... DID AN HANDSHAKE TO US! Yes he did! And to both of us, like a real gentleman, suddenly we were both the craziest fans of the crowd and everybody looked at us awkwardly. Jonny already did an handshake to me last year so that’s awesome that he did it again, the sweetest member like Chris said.
I had one goal on this concert too, to make a special phone call to my friend Nikol, she’s a big fan of Jonny so I wanted to make her a gift and call her during ‘Don’t Panic’, all worked perfectly well and then... CHRIS PLAYED ‘HYPNOTISED’, I  was like “I HAVE TO CALL HER AGAIN”. So basically I was the only one with my phone up with the call, I saw nobody turning the app on, just listening and enjoying this acoustic version.
And that was it. The concert was amazing as usual, I cried like never before on ‘Fix You’, it was simply magnificent, the lights just in front of me, the crowd singing and the fireworks, I couldn’t hold back my tears, I was saying goodbye to my favourite song. Same for ‘Up&Up’, it was hard to see all these fireworks and xylobands and say goodbye to my favourite band for at least 2 years. A last feeling with tears all over my face, my hands to the sky, trying to reach the fireworks, a last feeling to remember for years.
Overall, I truly enjoyed these 13 concerts this tour, it wasn’t always perfect, like Chris said: “going through weather issues, ticket prices, traffic, security and all that stuff” but at the end of the day, it was just us and Coldplay and you forget everything that went wrong. One big family gathered, it was one hell of a journey, I’m happy I was able to do that, I don’t know if I will able to do that again. I met a lot of great people, I saw a lot of beautiful cities, could touch at least one of them (Jonny, you’re the best), Chris noticed me and my sign, I met Pilar Zeta, I cried maybe more than 20 times, I had so much fun on these crazy night, just enjoyed the moment every time. Those were the best times of my life, thank you Coldplay, thank you for everything.
And thank you to everybody who read my review of last year, watched my video and read this one too, it was indeed an adventure of a lifetime.
The Cuban Sonic Assault and Journalistic Ethics
Tumblr media
One thing extraordinary occurred on the annual assembly of the American Affiliation for the Development of Science (AAAS) just a few weeks in the past. A particular session on the alleged "sonic attack" on U.S. embassy personnel in Havana was organized by Mitchell Valdes-Sosa, co-director of the Cuban Neuroscience Middle in Havana, along with Pedro Valdes-Sosa who co-chaired the session. Held on the Cuban embassy in Washington, the AAAS-sponsored session introduced collectively scientists from the USA and Cuba in a panel dialogue to investigate the scientific proof for the alleged clandestine weapon, which the U.S. State Division and a Journal of the American Medical Affiliation article declare prompted widespread traumatic mind damage to embassy workers serving in Havana. The alarming report of an vitality beam weapon of a form unknown wherever on the earth prior to now has roiled by means of the press for practically two years, producing world-wide alarm and worry. The incident has resulted within the U.S. basically closing its embassy in Havana; curtailed journey by People to Cuba following warnings issued by the U.S. State Division; and a Senate listening to on the alarming "threat," organized and chaired by the Cuban-American U.S. Senator Marco Rubio. All of this has compounded the struggling of Cubans and U.S. embassy workers. My goal right here is to not recap the session or to sift by means of all of the proof. I've performed that in earlier articles and a video from the AAAS session is out there on YouTube for anybody to look at and kind their very own opinions. As an alternative, I'm pushed to share a sudden realization that struck me as I used to be collaborating as one of many panelists within the session. That is one thing that has been neglected whereas the world has intensely centered on the main points of the scary studies and tried to sleuth out the mind-boggling means and motive of the "attacks." As a panelist I expressed my view, which I reached after touring to Havana and thoroughly reviewing the proof, that the "Cuban sonic weapon attack" shouldn't be about neuroweapons. Relatively it's concerning the core values and mission of the AAAS: to advertise scientific integrity and to speak science precisely to most of the people. I expressed my view that the media sensation that has swept by means of information retailers and main scientific journals for over two years, is fueled by a failure of journalism. The din of sensational protection within the media overwhelms the correct reporting by science writers. It was whereas I used to be making this argument on stage, that I abruptly realized what a unprecedented factor was transpiring. Among the many viewers have been reporters from main information and science information retailers. I admit trepidation in going through them whereas stating my criticism of these seated within the viewers who perform this tough occupation. I charged that journalists who had succumbed to sensationalism and ignored their duty of fact-based reporting bore a lot of the blame. That they had failed to stick to elementary tenets of cautious sourcing, verification, acquiring educated unbiased views and--to carry out an important function of journalism in a democracy-- questioning authorities authority. After which one thing occurred to me as I sat there contained in the ornate gold-trimmed room contained in the Cuban embassy. I regarded out from the stage and caught the gaze of the Cuban ambassador, Jose Cabanas, seated within the entrance row, raptly listening to what the scientists needed to say. Whereas the dialogue probing the physics of microwaves and sound propagation dimmed in my thoughts to background noise, an epiphany flashed. Right here we have been, scientists introduced collectively in widespread goal; half of them Communists and half capitalists believing in democracy, joined by journalists and science writers to hunt fact by means of science and fact-based reporting. Right here, contained in the embassy of a Communist nation cast in a revolution towards capitalist exploitation, the place manufacturing, schooling, and the press are managed by central management, the dialogue had turned to the significance of a free and correct press. All within the room had assembled to hunt fact by means of science and motive; to defend towards authorities exploitation of the press and to confront propaganda. We have been all right here, drawn by our shared human drive to hunt fact; to assist if somebody is in poor health; to determine and produce to justice the perpetrator if somebody is injured; and to attain these most sacred human values by means of science and correct reporting. If political pursuits had fanned the Cuban sonic assault story within the press to divide the U.S. and Cuba, it had backfired. I've seen the various "Viva la revolucion!" slogans, and busts of Fidel Castro and Che Guevara, on my journeys to Cuba. Proper or unsuitable, these revolutionaries are a supply of nice delight for Cuban residents. As I regarded into the eyes of the Cuban ambassador, a way of delight rose inside me as I considered the revolutionaries of my very own nation, who have been pushed by the aspiration for freedom, and goal to kind a extra excellent union. Bitcoin [BTC] finds its way in a “Liberty Leading the people” styled painting in Paris amidst the Yellow Vest protests
A French painter, Pascal Boyart, well-known for his Bitcoin and cryptocurrency paintings recently painted a mural in Paris that has a hidden puzzle in it. The puzzle when solved will reward the person with $0.26 BTC [~$1,000].
Boyart tweeted:
“#StreetArt treasure hunt in Paris with a #Bitcoin puzzle For the 10th birthday of the genesis block, I painted this frescoe in Paris with a 0,26btc ($1000) puzzle in it. Here’s the public key: 1NqPwPp7hEXZ3Atj77Ue11xAEMmXqAXwrQ Thanks to @alistairmilne for sponsoring this”
Source: Twitter | Pascal Boyart
He said that the person solving the puzzle had to be physically in front of the mural and made sure to not give out any more hints.
This painting symbolizes the revolution that the people in France and Paris are going through against the burdening taxes that are being levied on the working and middle-class people. The Yellow Vest Protests have been happening for over two months in mainland France, which started on November 17, 2018, and has still shown no signs of stopping.
The painting, as seen in the above picture draws inspiration from the famous Eugène Delacroix’s “La Liberté guidant le peuple” [Liberty leading the people].
Liberty Leading the people is a painting that depicts how the woman, Marianne is leading people from all walks of life with pistols, rifles, and swords to revolt against the then king, King Charles X.
The tricolor flag represents the symbol of revolution and the current painting by Boyart represents the revolt against the President of France, Emmanuel Macron.
Even Bitcoin was created as a revolution to the existing financial system and its centralized concepts and was released to the people at the right moment, which helped to make its infusion easier.
The reason behind these protests has been mainly due to the rising fuel prices, high cost of living and claims that a disproportionate burden of the government’s tax reforms was falling on the working and middle classes, especially in rural and peri-urban areas.
The protests gained the attention of media around the world and one particular image of the protest caught the eye of the people in the Bitcoin and cryptocurrency community, which was a man wearing a yellow vest that said, “Buy Bitcoin” on the back.
A user @8ball811 commented:
“This is great work! Spreading awareness through artwork – a very good angle
Tumblr media
Viva La France”
