ulla evil arc
ik vat7k doesnt have like a solid plot, but i did do a little but of redesigning and rewriting ulla so she more betty from adventure time coded. methinks all that time spent alone in the library w like no human interactions for years made her lose her mind a bit,, and also she does do magic too bc i thought it would be silly and whatnot. anyways, bc she is technically cursed to be in the library forever, she eventually found a work around which involved her basically getting a host so she can transport her like soul into their body and leave. think ezra’s mom from fairy tail and how she like took wendy’s body with the intention of j killing off wendy’s soul. sorry for the long ramble 😭 but
tl;dr ulla deserves to be Evil just a little bit as a treat

Vat7k headcanons.
"You can't have so many headcanons of parents of protagonists of a series that DOESN'T EXIST."
Well... Look at me.
—Ulla lear to fight when she was a teenager defending Ulf from the people who bullied him.
—Ulla always gave her brother silly nicknames.
—Ulf hated all of his sister's romantic interests.
—Quirin is more smarter then he looks, he is not a respected public figure and leader because he is tall.
—Hector and Adira were troublemakers when they were in their young and Quirin always saved their asses from people dangerous or the law... Or both.
—Quirin and Ulla got along very well because they both shared the role of "protective big siblings" in their respective families.

(4/10) Teenager and Young adult Ulla - Part 8
Tumblr media
Hi there people 🌤️🍊🥝🌈🌾🌈🌼🥝🌾💐🌼
Here I'm trying again to do it faster and shorter
Now that Ulf leaved the nuclear family...
1.- Ulla misses her brother but makes not a fuss about it, they are not children anymore, besides, Ulf asked Ulla to make a copy of his investigation and send him back his originals, so there can be a backup and both can share their knowledge, and indeed, back in Pitchfork, she gets the work done, of course, she readed the research and got amused by how much he accomplished on his own.
2.- Later Ulla and her parents visit Corona to search for the light trial, and gets pretty easy, thanks to the local old smiths, they are also very wise and have an older son named Xavier who is committed to preserve all Demanitus knowledge they can get.
3.- Together they restore the Demanitus device in a reasonable amount of time, they are about to prepare their luagge and say goodbye next weekend, but Xavier wanted to show her something new.
4.- A super old DNA sample (a nail and a hair) supposedly from Demanitus, found on his chambers hidden on the place, and use that medieval pendulum on a map to locate someone, yes, someone with Dema's DNA , a descendant.
5.- Xavier wanted to find someoneor a team who would help him to find this person, but his parents didn't gave aprobation, that's going too far and neglect their actual jobs.
Tumblr media
6.- They did the travel, with a silly dare, if it's a woman, Xavier will marry her, if it's a men, Ulla will marry him, if it's a child, then they would adopt she or him, if it's an old man/woman, they would build a nice friendship, unless evilness is on the soul, but that's unlikely.
7.- They travel to the Dark Kingdom, it's so awesome, and they , along with Holda and Tenax (Ulla and Ulf's parents ) start their searching for the Demanitus trial, but they are stopped by guards, looks like the place was already well preserved, clean and locked in order to avoid foreigners to reveal their leyends and ancient secrets.
8.- Due to them having no resources to make the guards think otherwise, they are deported outside the kingdom, but Ulla tells them she will go back and finish the searching of that Demanitus descendant, she will go alone so they will have it more difficult.
9.-The others will wait for her camping, she can send a help message if needed and they would aid her, so , she goes again undercover, and surprise, using the secret passages Holda her mother found with her subfloors scanner machine, she finds Donella too, who also entered undercover with her merchandise, what is she selling?
10. Don had an outburst to make clear it was not her business, but not too much later she apologies and spend some time with Ulla to talk about how much appreciated she is as an old friend, she is glad to meet her again and they should team up.
Tumblr media
Lots of fickers had made histories about Ulla and Donella meeting Quirin together, so yeah, I can drop a while here
And yes, I imagined Quiring to be a lost offspring of Demanitus, Ulla reveals him the news, and she tries to get him into alchemy, search more about himself and his mom or dad until reaching all the genealogy three.
But he is in a state of "I won't tell a thing and I won't research either", his childhood formation was mostly about keeping royals secrets and maintain the information lowered unless he is told otherwise, so, he turns down any of Ulla -
Opus I have to go, see you around 🍓🌷🍒❄️🍓🌷🍒❄️🫐🏖️🌸🌾🌄🫐🏖️🌾🫐🍒🌄🫐❄️🏖️🌄🌄🫐🏖️🌾🫐🏖️🌄❄️🫐🪻🏖️🪻🫐🫐🌸🌊🏖️🌤️🌷🍒🍱🫐🏖️🌷🫐🏖️🌸❄️🍥🌷🍒❄️🌷🍥🍒

Donella settled in old corona after Ulla died, finally deciding that she just wants a quiet life after everything. Becomes the firm, distant, but fair leader of the town. Goes back to finish some work in Ingvarr and finds Hugo and brings him back with her and raises him as a ward and apprentice.
Once he’s older she gives him her own notebook about the trials. She can’t open the library again but maybe her boy will be able to. Will find something on his journey
Meanwhile after Ulla was trapped Quirin took their child and decided to abandon any remaining loyalty he had to the Brotherhood and watching over corona. He decides to instead protect the totems, make sure they never fall into wrong hands. Hands like Ulla’s. Because he loved her but he knows that this power is too much. He’s not good at alchemy so he can’t go and free her and by the time he teaches himself enough to try he knows she’s probably long dead.
So instead he just thinks it’s best to keep people from the same fate. Varian is raised with the training of a Brotherhood Knight, and as he gets older he self teaches himself his mothers work. He’s not just Quirin’s son, he’s also his second in command if any ‘political issues’ arise.
And once Hugo goes on his journey he’s ordered to join his group to stop him from accomplishing his goals of opening the library. Only Varian doesn’t know his mother is trapped there. Only that the library ‘took’ her from them.
Hugo is still snarky and sarcastic but he’s less smarmy, more genuine. Let’s his goofy side out more.
While Varian is much more closed off. Stony faced and more serious. Doesn’t have time for funny business and his snarks are more hurtful than playful. But deep deep down there’s a silly guy in there who still sees the wonder of alchemy and who has a soft spot for raccoons and who could ramble on for hours while making stupid lil jokes.
And Hugo’s determined to dig deep enough to find that part of him
(Yong is the youngest prince of the Fire kingdom who wants to prove he’s more than an accident waiting to happen. Nuru is an ambitious meteorologist who’s trying to find a way to save her kingdom and to get the royal family to take her seriously and offer her a position as a Royal Astronomer)

He genetically CAN’T be a calico because Quirin and Ulla don’t pass enough white to him so he’d have to leave out the white and be a silly goofy little tortie
Calico bc calling him infertile is funny

Random ideas I had for the Beetlejuice AU, if anyone wants to read the silly thoughts I had as I doodled ⤵️
-Cassandra getting Miss Argentina's role (as in she's trying to convince Varian living is worth it, which I think is funny cuz it would be the opposite of Nothing Left to Lose)
-I thought of lots of characters as ghosts (Like Nuru, Yong, Catalina and Kiera) but it made me sad because it means they're all dead
-Adira and Hector with Delia's role (as in "now that Ulla is dead, Quirin is going back to the Brotherhood and to Varian it feels like he's trying to forget by going back to the past but actually he just wants his family' support and is trying to find something to do with his life")
-at some point I thought of having Frederic and Arianna as Delia because polycule and "wouldn't that be stupidly funny-" but it hurted my brain trying to explain why Rapunzel doesn't want them in her house (but imagine Raps hearing Varian's sad story about losing his mom and his dad is trying to replace her and then she discovers Varian's new step parents are HER PARENTS ??? freckle siblings fr-)
-if Varigo. The whole 'tricking Varian to marry him' deal is actually partly a trick because Hugo genuinely really really appreciate Var from the little time spent with him. And Varian in his chaotic gremlin phase is like "sure, why the hell not". But Varian learns Hugo gets to be able to finally roam freely anywhere in the Outerworld only if they marry (because so far he can only exist within the house), so Var thinks Hugo is using him and actually doesn't care at all about him and he'll end up abandoning him like all the others.
-I heard BJ has a mom in the musical ???? And she's mad about something and tries to kill the protag or something.??? So. DONELLA ????
-on the same note of Donella being there. Either we keep Hugo being almost chaotic evil at times or he's simply reaaaallllyyyyy influenced by Donella. (like it's her idea to go kill everyone, not his)
-Zhan Tiri as the scout girl made me laugh. But I also thought of giving that role to Calliope.
-still debating wether I want an uwu happy ending with Varigo (Hugo becomes alive and stays alive) or if I'd rather have the storyline stay true to the musical.
I had more at some point but I forgor-

Do you have any headcanos about the relationships dynamics between the witches?
Yup! Here I go!
Gertrud and Gisela are in love. Gertrud fixates on flowers and plants and Gisela is happy to listen. She'll be a lawn mower or shredder if Gertrud ever needs any mechanical work done
Suleika and Ulla are like a dog and its owner (with Ulla being the dog). All Ulla share the same affection so all love Suleika more than anything else. Not a still tail is in her labyrinth at any time. Ulla is the most precious thing in the world to Suleika, she cares about nothing else
Charlotte and Candeloro are like sisters with Candeloro acting like a big sister/mother to her. They love cute things and being silly together but Candeloro can be strict if needed. Charlotte is also best friends with Albertine, they share a very close bond that will only grow stronger as they grow up together. Although neither are that strong, they both promise to protect each other
Elly and Elsa Maria are in love. They met at a dire time in Elly's life so Elsa Maria helped her through it. They're now practically inseparable. Elsa Maria is the only person Elly has told her darkest secrets to.
Uhrmann is in love with Itzli. Both girls who want to give up on the world because of its unfairness. The epitome of 'let's become monsters together and destroy this world'. One is the only one keeping the other going so if one falls, the other will come crashing down with them.
Oktavia is in love with Nutcracker Homulilly. It's a distant, longing love, but it will one day be realised I'm sure. One respects the other but they just haven't got close enough yet to tell their true feelings.
Izabel is close with her Michaela as they are all her personal creations. As such a scathing artist, she of course is quick to call her creations garbage and cast them aside but truly, because they are made by her hand, she does love them. Mercedes is her favourite, she thinks she is almost perfect. All Michaela are like siblings, it's a surprise they all get along. Izabel is also in love with Quitterie, the only person (to her) that appreciates her art. She is someone she can share her artistic interests with and she can actually reciprocate and understand. Izabel's usual harsh tone melts around Quitterie, she's overly soft around her because she fears if she says one thing wrong she'll want to leave her.
Walpurgisnacht and the shadow magical girls have a mother-daughter relationship. She is like the teacher and they are the students in a charming classroom.
Candy and Matasaburo are adoptive sisters with Candy having a full family already with Matasaburo being an orphan. As Candy is very self centred she initially detested Matasaburo in fear she would take all her parents' attention away. However she soon realised that her company simply made her life and playtime far more fun and her jealously disappeared
The younger witches like to hang out in their own little bubble, this includes Charlotte, Albertine, Paola, Zenobia, Candy and Matasaburo as well as any others that want to join them

thought is something where like. donella hears about these engineers and ahe unknowingly hires them to help her do the trials because either she doesn’t want to do the trials herself, OR she got injured when ulla closed the portal and varigo r like Fuck It Sure and go on this adventure and as they go on they start uncovering the truth behind what task they’re doing AND figure out that the person donella is talking about is varian’s mom im. normal about this im normal about this im- (also sorry i am on anon tumblr wont let me comment with my side blog and i live in eternal fear of my irls finding me)
OOOOOH what an interesting take on the 7k plot!! I'm so curious how that would play out with Hugo since he can't double-cross Varian as Don's secret agent. Maybe he tells Var that it's a bad idea to take on work from this shady lady and then gets a massive I-Told-You-So when stuff about Ulla is revealed? Maybe they fight and almost break up. Or maybe they do break up and have to get back together later
And akfdjk no worries about being on anon! i know some people just aren't comfortable being off it but that's okay! my blog is a safe space for bein' weird and silly so even if you're shy i still want you to know your thoughts are appreciated ❤️

2020 Year In Review
This year once again I invited some friends and colleagues to reflect on 2020

2020 was a troubling and disturbing year. I created a lot of music and experienced a lot of nights waking at 5am in a panic. I deeply missed the sacred experience of being able to see live music. In its absence of that I listened to a lot of music. It was difficult to whittle down this list but here are a lot of albums I enjoyed in 2020, in no particular order.

With all live performances canceled, this was truly the year of demo videos and home studio recording for me. These are 10 pieces of gear that came out in 2020 that helped keep me feeling creative and inspired during lockdown. In no particular order:
EHX Oceans 12 Dual Stereo Reverb - The Oceans 12 ticks all the boxes for what I’m looking for in a great soundscaping reverb. I used the Shimmer and Reverse algorithms in conjunction a lot when I was composing music for a film score.
Chase Bliss Audio Blooper - While I don’t actually own a Blooper, I had the pleasure of borrowing one from Mike of Baranik Guitars after NAMM this year. He made an incredible Blooper-inspired guitar and I was completely charmed by them both. Chase Bliss always delivers pedals that push me creatively and the Blooper truly hits the mark.
Cooper FX Arcades - I love everything Cooper FX has released to-date so the opportunity to access those sounds in one pedal via plug-in cartridges is just awesome.
SolidGoldFX NU-33 - I was asked to do a demo of this pedal for its release and ended up being really charmed by this box’s approach to lo-fi nostalgia. I’ve used it a lot for film scoring and highly recommend adding it to your collection.
Demedash Effects T-120 DLX V2 - I LOVE a good tape echo and the T-120 Deluxe V2 ranks up there with the best I’ve tried. This pedal made its way to me this Christmas and I look forward to making some beautiful sounds with it in the new year.
Hologram Electronics Microcosm - The Microcosm is one of those pedals where you should fully read the manual before diving in but once you put in that initial effort you’ve got a massively powerful tool on your hands. It does glitch like no other. Definitely worth the homework
Azzam Bells MP019 - I discovered this unique instrument through a post on Reverb’s IG page and immediately looked it up and ordered one. These experimental percussion instruments are hand-made in Italy and they’re as beautiful visually as they are sonically. I used it for bowed cymbal and daxophone sounds on a film score and it was absolutely haunting.
Echopark Dual Harmonic Boost 2 - I love the control you have over dialing in the perfect amount of grit with these dual boost circuits. I use it a lot as a textural tool when I’m laying down drones or bringing in big distorted swells. It’s one of the most versatile overdrives in my collection and I love that.
Fender Parallel Universe Series Volume II Maverick Dorado - I was smitten with the Maverick Dorado when I first saw it at NAMM. It has a lot of the specs that I look for in a guitar and the body shape with the Mystic Pine finish just blew me away. I hope that I get to use it live soon.
Polyeffects Beebo - The Beebo is one of those pedals that I genuinely feel is smarter than I am. It’s like an entire computer in one small touchscreen box. I can’t claim to have mastered using it yet but the sounds that I have managed to get out of it so far have been brilliant. I’m looking forward to spending more time with this box in 2021

HELM 2020 REVIEW
Let's get the bad stuff out the way first, 2020 was undoubtedly an awful year. I'm still not sure how to really respond to seeing a global pandemic bring the capital to its knees and everything I love and hold dear to a grinding halt. Our government fucked it's response, putting profit before people and killing tens of thousands. The Labour Party descended into farce with the newly elected leader Sir Keith revealing himself as a bland centrist with no opposition or ideas. On a personal level it sucked not being able to travel or see my friends in different parts of the world - or even the same country - who I am starting to miss a lot. However, I was fortunate enough to get through the year with my sanity intact. Music, art and culture once again being my main positive. I think I listened to more music than I have in any year ever. I read more books than I have done since I was a teenager probably. I also re-discovered the joys of walking long distances and am extremely thankful for living near a lot of incredible green spaces: Epping Forest, Walthamstow Wetlands, Walthamstow Marshes, Wanstead Park, Wanstead Flats...
Music. My favourite albums of the year.
Oranssi Pazuzu - Mestarin kynsi Wetware - Flail Raspberry Bulbs - Before The Age Of Mirrors Necrot - Mortal Rope Sect - The Great Flood Private World - Aleph Oneohtrix Point Never - Magic Oneohtrix Point Never Pyrrhon - Abcess Time CS+Kreme - Snoopy Speaker Music - Black Nationalist Sonic Weaponry Drew McDowall - Agalma Regis - Hidden In This Is The Light That You Miss Nazar - Guerilla Zoviet France - Russian Heterodoxical Songs (and all the ZF reissues!!) Triple Negative - God Bless the Death Drive Permission - Organised People Suffer Actress - Karma & Desire Acolytes - Stress II The Gerogerigegege - >(decrescendo) Chubby & The Gang - Speed Kills Flora Yin-Wong - Holy Palm Eiko Ishibashi - Hyakki Yagyo The The - See Without Being Seen Prurient - Casablanca Flamethrower Henning Christiansen - L’essere Umano Errabando La Voce Errabando Subdued - Over The Hills And Far Away Rian Treanor - File Under UK Metaplasm Komare - The Sense Of Hearing Shredded Nerve - Acts Of Betrayal Jesu - Terminus Autechre - SIGN Hey Colossus - Dances / Curses Sparkle Division - To Feel Embraced Mark Harwood - A Perfect Punctual Paradise Under My Own Name Still House Plants - Fast Edit The Bug & Dis Fig - In Blue Kommand - Terrorscape Haus Arafna - Asche Khthoniik Cerviiks - Æequiizoiikum Worm - Gloomlord Kraus - A Golden Brain Faceless Burial - Speciation
A shout-out to Jon Abby's AMPLIFY series on Bandcamp / Facebook, which I contributed a new piece of music to.
A shout out to the labels where most of the music I listened to seemed to come from:
The Trilogy Tapes Iron Bonehead Penultimate Press Dais La Vida Es Un Mus
Gigs. Despite live music being destroyed in 2020 I still saw a few unforgettable performances at the beginning of the year.
Graham Lambkin @ The ICA, London Puce Mary / JFK @ The Glove That Fits, London Demilich @ Finnfest, The Garage, London Container / PC World / National Unrest @ Venue MOT, London S.H.I.T / Asid / Chubby & The Gang @ Static Shock Festival, ExFed, London
Books I enjoyed. Most not published this year, but all read in 2020.
Joe Kennedy - Authentocrats David Balzer - Curationism Tom Mills - BBC: The Myth Of A Public Service Simon Morris - Consumer Guide: Special Edition Luke Turner - Out Of The Woods Various - Bad News For Labour Mike Wendling - Alt-Right Baited Area issues 1 & 2.
Film. Three good films I saw this year which I hadn't before.
Suspiria (Remake) Midsommar Cannibal Holocaust
Podcasts. I listened to a lot of these whilst walking.
We Don't Talk About The Weather Novara Media Tysky Sour & Novara FM Grounded with Louis Theroux System of Systems Red Scare loveline episodes Suite 212 NOISEXTRA Social Discipline CONTAIN
TV.
Didn't watch a huge amount and what I did was mostly trash. For some reason I rewatched both series' of This Life, a British drama from the late 90's about a group of young professionals house sharing and navigating their careers. Very cringey and has aged terribly, but it was perversely fascinating to revisit something from that time in the age of the pandemic. Following on from this I binge watched the entire series of Industry which was entertaining enough. A programme about a bunch of horny bankers with what felt like a confused ideology behind it. It seemed stuck between trying to criticise and glorify the culture around the industry, but also protect the industry itself from outside criticism by portraying anyone who may oppose as an insufferable wanker. Currently halfway through Succession which is OK. The Murdoch documentaries on the BBC were excellent and a rare respite from their descent into client journalism.
Thanks to anyone who listened to my music this year also. Best wishes to you all for 2021.

1. My Nr. 1 lesson: patience. Whether it's bouncing through 30 seconds of severe turbulence at 39000 feet or slogging through 30 minutes of a interminable piece of concert music, one attribute I've tried to develop is the ability to see past the discrete and awaited ending, the exact framing of the immediate process, but put it into the context of a larger time frame. I've found that this year more than all others has demanded it. Breathing helps...
2. Books: revisiting old favorites from the realm of Thomas Pynchon and Philip K. Dick (both especially relevant), digging into John Lomax's portrait of Jelly Roll Morton, the works of Colson Whitehead, random things off of the shelf…
3. Composing: with touring off the table, I focused on that which needed to be written, some requested and commissioned, some spontaneously springing forth. Composing requires that one open the windows wide to the world, which at this moment brought in grief, terror, uncertainty, anxiety, visions of plague and pestilence and incipient fascism. Okay, now shut the window and get to work! How to process, translate, transform? The work can be a comfortable and obsessive cocoon once one learns to handle the radioactive materials and put them into the creativity reactor.
4. Beans! We have long been a fan in our house of the wide world of legumes but this year brought two stars to the front: the black bean and the red lentil. The black bean commands the lofty peaks but the seemingly infinite variations of dal surround it. Ginger, garlic, turmeric, smoked paprika, cayenne, onions, and olive oil form the basis then imagination builds.
5. Online teaching substituted for my canceled conduction of workshops in the Pyrenees Mountains of France. Between the participants and myself, we built a temporary but very congenial space online to share concepts and music. In addition, private lessons brought conversation and music with new friends in Germany, Italy, California, Australia, Illinois, Denmark, Pennsylvania, Spain, Florida, Brazil.
6. What started out as "stress baking" (before I even had heard of the term) soon became a frequent practice that yielded very edible results. The twins preferred the sweeter forays into banana bread and chocolate cake. I tried to find a balance between tried-and-true techniques and experiments in texture and taste with yeasted pumpernickels, multi-grains, and seed breads.
7. While not the same as performing 'live ', online gigs proved that it was possible to generate a surprising amount of adrenaline even without the pheromonal handshaking of a room filled with receptive ears. As a corollary, online recording collaborations with friends worldwide proved to be inspiring and a suitable substrate for sonic experimentation, exploration of new instruments, tunings, effects programming, structures. In these realms, shout-outs to Helene Breschand, Mike Cooper, Henry Kaiser, Tracie Morris, Mikel Banks, Dougie Bowne, Payton McDonald, Billy Martin, Colin Stetson, Jim O'Rourke, Scott Amendola, Roberto Zorzi, Jason Hoopes, Eric Mingus, Melanie Dyer, Dave Hofstra, Don McKenzie, Sergio Sorrentino, Veniero Rizzardi, Taylor Ho Bynum, Scott Fields, Bachir Attar, Karl Bruckmaier, Robbie Lee, Matthew Evan Taylor, Matteo Liberatore, Al Kaatz, David Barratt, Jessica Hallock, Kolin Zeinikov, Robbie Lee, Jeremy Nesse, James Ilgenfritz, Sergio Armaroli, Steve Piccolo, Sandy Ewen, David Weinstein, Jim Whittemore, Chris Vine, Werner Puntigam, William Schimmel.

Ten Things That Didn’t Happen in 2020
1.  I didn’t write a ton of new music. Don’t get me wrong, I wrote some. I always do. But mostly I focused on my new YouTube channel, essays, and on getting old recordings released. I haven’t even been working a day-job so I thought I was going to write my next Ring Cycle, but I really didn’t find Covid inspiring.
2.  Trump wasn’t re-elected. Cool.
3. I didn’t lose anyone to Covid. I am, of course, profoundly grateful for this. But I feel pretty embarrassed remembering group-texting ten friends in March, “We are all going to see a loved one die. Every single one of us. Don’t kid yourselves”. I can get hysterical, and that was somewhat irresponsible of me.
4.  No revolution happened. I don’t mean to be smug or cynical, or to belittle anyone’s participation in the protests. But, as far as I can tell, nothing happened in 2020 that promises to reduce police brutality or human suffering of any kind. We’ll see. That burning Minneapolis police station was exciting to watch at the time, if only on an aesthetic level.
5.  I have a stack of unread books I bought this year, just staring at me, with nary a crease among them. These include:
Adorno and Horkheimer, The Dialectic of Enlightenment (looks amazing, but I haven’t touched it) Marx, Grundrisse (it’s 1000 pages for fuck’s sake. Amazon also accidentally sent me two copies, and its double presence in the stack is just comical) Reza Negarestani, Intelligence and Spirit (the first 15 pages blew my mind, then my mind blew it off)
6.  I didn’t settle into living in LA. I moved here six months before Covid and I was just starting to cultivate some friendships and play shows. This was quashed and I still feel like I still live in New York. I still barely know the layout of the city here.
7.  No brand-new buzzy musical artists burst onto the scene, that I can recall. No new hyped micro-genre of the moment. There was just no way for there to be a hot new trend. I’d say that was refreshing, but it wasn’t.
8.  Tyson’s return was not awesome. Two minute rounds, ended in a draw. I’ve been getting way into boxing this past year. This fight was a bummer. I’m looking forward to Mayweather vs Logan Paul (LOL) because we know it’s comedy ahead of time.
9.  For three weeks in July, I didn’t do a single thing other than watch street fight compilations on YouTube and Worldstar. That’s just grim.
10.  There were no school shootings in March. Apparently, this was the first March with no school shootings since 2002. Not a single 7th grader got a hand job in March either. I cannot begin to imagine what it’s like to be a kid now.

Work 2020
Despite Covid 19 lots of things actually did happen.
In Feburary I visited the only active nuclear plant in The Nederlands as part of my "Expanded Field Recording” project together with SML. In March revisited the Acousmonium at the Elevate Festival in Graz with an additional trip deep inside the Schlossberg recording old mining trains. In March and April I did two daily recording projects “Pending and Auditory Scenes” - both of Amsterdam during lockdown. In May did my first Zoom field recording workshop with the CAMP project. In June & July  two research trips in Waldviertel, Austria with Franz Pomassl. In August recorded bells and organs in 10 different churches around Amsterdam for Jacob Lekkerkerker. In September recorded Kali Malone at the Orgelpark in Amsterdam. Performed at Heart of Noise Festival in Innsbruck and A4 in Bratislava. Also went ice-skating for first time in 20? Years. In November and December I travelled to Jeju island to record field recordings for a project by Femke Herregraven for the Gwangju Biennale, commissioned for 2021. Did lots of gardening, released two tapes “Call it Philips, Eindoven” and “Zomer 2020” with Sigtryggur Berg Sigmarsson. NOW! Looking forward to 2021.

The Life and Times of a Tiny Alchemist (1/?)
A series of oneshots set in the universe of Alchemy Lullaby (or, Dadgene and baby Varian). Eugene, Rapunzel, and Varian's life as a family, and the people who helped make it happen.
Current: Set post AL. Quirin adopts a young boy of his own, and bonds with the parents of his son's best friends.
I return! With more baby! There's never enough, all praise be unto him I have no idea how long this series is gonna be, tbh, the 5 is just a placeholder. I may post 20, I may only do 3. Who knows! Not me! I do have a lot of ideas though, lol. Reading AL (link in rb) is highly recommended, but you don't have to if you don't want to. TLDR Eugene adopts Varian, Ulla was a jerk and she's dead now. Hooray! Some of these will be cowritten by the lovely Finnoky who I love very much uwu
Ben is owned by @finnoky and @aj-illustrated :) he's Quirin's adopted son and he is a mini menace. I love him.
Quirin fidgeted awkwardly from where he stood across from to Eugene. It was weird to be back in the palace after… everything. Varian was still afraid of him, and he didn’t blame him at all. Neither did he blame Eugene giving him a distrusting look. But he wasn’t the main focus here. No. The focus was on a small figure currently staring Varian down.
If Varian was small for his age, Ben was even smaller. Though to be fair, Ben was younger; Varian had just turned five, if he remembered correctly, while Ben was still four. His curly black hair and cool brown skin stood out against the others of Dark Kingdom descent, but to Quirin, he was going to fit right in just fine. After all, both he and Varian had a common background.
Following the… incident in Old Corona, Quirin had taken permanent residence. It felt weird to live in what remained of Ulla’s old house, but the farm life suited him better than he’d thought. Almost as if it was what he should’ve done. Well, no use thinking of the past, he told himself. Only looking forward from here on out. Perhaps that’s what drew him to the Corona orphanage.
Varian wasn’t his son, not anymore, he’d accepted that. But now that he had the idea of fatherhood in his mind, he couldn’t let it go. He wanted to raise a child, wanted to be a father. So he’d trekked down and found Ben, with his button nose and roguish charm. The fact that he was Varian’s age was merely a coincidence, but perhaps the first step to repairing relations could be for the two to meet.
“So…” Eugene drawled, smacking his lips together. An awkward silence ensued. Honestly, what are you supposed to do in this situation? It felt a bit like Quirin had just grabbed a kid in an attempt to win Varian’s trust, but that’s not right… right? Quirin’s not that kind of guy, after all.
Then again… Eugene didn’t see him as the type to hurt Varian, but here we are.
“So.” Quirin hummed. Varian clung a bit closer to his dad when he spoke, fear clouding his baby blue eyes. To be fair, Ben was nervous too, his hands shaking where they were bunched into Quirin’s pants.
“Are you going to introduce us?” Eugene raised a brow, and Quirin startled.
“Oh! Yes. This is Ben, he’s four years old, and he’s going to be staying with me for a while.” He smiled down at the little boy. “Ben, this is Eugene and his son, Varian. Varian’s your age!”
Ben pouted, eyes narrowing in on Varian. Who was this kid? What made him so special that New Dad wanted them to meet? “Hi,” He mumbled, and Varian waved back shyly.
“Why don’t you two go play, hm?” Quirin’s eyes are warm, perhaps a bit overeager. “I’m sure you’ll get along.”
“I mean maybe,” Eugene muttered, but nonetheless pushed Varian forward gently. “Why not show Ben around the castle, hm? I need to talk to Quirin.”
Varian whimpered, squeezing his dad’s leg briefly. It was a small sign, a plea for him not to go. But he still let go, toddling over to Ben. The two shared eye contact, before he grabbed Ben’s hand and pulled him into the pristine halls he called home, away from the man who they both might have called dad.
“You wanna meet Ruddiger?” Varian asked, leading Ben down the hall towards his room. The kid was a few inches shorter than him, but his poofy hair was tall enough to compensate.
“What’s Ruddiger?” Ben said.
“My best friend!” Varian chimed, more chipper now that he was talking about something he enjoyed. “Well, outside of Hugo. But he’s different.” The younger opened his mouth to ask, but then shut it. Whatever, he didn’t really care all that much.
The castle was massive, nearly overwhelming in stature. How it dwarfed them, nearly swallowed them! Ben’s eyes kept wandering around, from the shadows cast by windows to the ironed carpet floor. How could anyone live like this? He loved his current home, its small farm feel. But Varian seemed right at home. Of course he would be, with his neat hair, and fancy outfit, stupid nice smile and friendly demeanor-
He’s cut out of his thoughts when a striped blur bounces into Varian’s arms. It wraps around Varian’s neck, purring, and suddenly all Ben’s concerns melt away. A raccoon! He loved raccoons!
“Can I pet him?” He whispers, starstruck. At Varian’s nod, he runs a hand through soft fur and squeals in delight.
He changed his mind, Varian rocks.
“So…” Varian says shyly, feet rocking back and forth. “Why did Quirin bring you here?”
“I dunno!” Ben chimed, giving Ruddiger a tummy rub. “New Dad said he wanted to show me off. Or something like that.” He shrugged. He didn’t actually pay attention to what New Dad said (he’d actually wanted Ben to make a friend). I mean, he was pretty great, in his opinion. So it was a logical assumption!
Varian frowned. “New dad…?”
“Yea! Cuz I had a dad before, but this one is new! And the best!”
“Really? Me too!”
“REALLY!?”
Varian nodded. “My dad is new, too! Quirin was my old dad.” Well, Eugene was his first dad, then Quirin, then Eugene again, but that wasn’t important.
Ben frowned. Quirin was Varian’s old dad? Did that mean he gave Varian up? Would he give Ben up, too? He didn’t want that! He liked New Dad! There had to be another explanation…
“Maybe he just didn’t like you.”
Varian gasped. “He liked me a lot! He took me from daddy because he liked me so much!”
“Oh yeah? Then why’d he give you up?”
“Why’d he adopt you? To replace me?”
Oh he did not just go there! Ben grit his teeth and glared up at the older kid, who was pouting down at him.
Ben stood up.
And lunged.
-
“To clarify, you didn’t adopt Ben to replace Varian?”
Quirin narrowed his eyes in anger. “I’m offended you would think that at all.”
Eugene raised his hands in defense. “I’m just making sure! I’ve seen it happen! Don’t want Ben to get left behind, you know?” It had only happened a few times, but it always stuck with the kids at the orphanage. Someone would come and scoop up a kid, trying to fill a hole in their heart, only to drop them back off when they were too much work or not enough like the kid they lost. It sucked. Why not just get a dog in that situation?
“Of course not. Varian opened my eyes to being a father, sure, but Ben is… special,” he smiled at the thought of him. “Such a silly boy.”
Eugene opened his mouth to respond when a shriek cut him off. It sounded like a young boy! Both fathers completely forgot what they were talking about and raced off in the direction it came from.
“That’s Varian!” Eugene cried, skidding to a stop in front of Varian’s room. He threw open the door, and both men gawked.
Ben had pinned Varian to the ground, hollering and hooting out war cries as he tugged on Varian’s hair. Varian screamed bloody murder and slammed his fists into Ben, grabbing at whatever skin he could find.
“Not again, Ben,” Quirin moaned.
-
You’d think that after that debacle, they wouldn’t put Ben and Varian together again.
You’d be wrong.
Because about a week later, Varian had tugged on his dad’s pants and asked, “Can we go see Benny?”
Eugene had raised an eyebrow. “You mean Ben and Quirin? I thought you hated him?”
“No!” Varian whined. “He’s fun. He makes me cry.” Eugene didn’t understand it at all, but he supposed if Varian wanted a relationship with his birth dad and his son, he couldn’t really deny him. So they’d started weekly playdates, alternating who travelled where.
The knight (or, well, former knight) was still getting used to his new routine. At dawn he’d get up to help the people of Old Corona, then start on his own farmwork. He started small, just tending to the crops Ulla had. Around midmorning Ben would join him, playing with the wooden sword he’d gifted the lad. It was around then, on a crisp spring morning with sweat lacing his brow and the earth warm at his feet, that he heard his son squeal in delight.
“Varian!” Ben cried, running over, lugging his sword behind him. “Look! New Dad got me a sword!” With a heave he brandished it, holding it high above his head. Unfortunately, he was top heavy, and both boy and sword fell to the ground. Varian laughed, standing over his new friend. Ben pouted up at him, tears budding in his eyes. He whined, and Quirin dropped his farm tools at the sound. His feet carried him over to where he feared Ben was about to burst into tears.
The whines abruptly stopped and Ben started to laugh, joining Varian. He reached up and pulled Varian down into the dirt alongside him, prompting more giggles.
Eugene stood nearby and shrugged.
“Is this normal?” Quirin asked, flabbergasted.
“Don’t ask me, man! I’m just as lost as you.”
“I… Maybe they’re just like this?”
“Yea that’s the working theory.” Eugene let out a breathless laugh. The boys had taken to wrestling, rolling around in the earth like a tumbleweed.
“Boys!” Quirin called, and they stopped to look up. He smiled fondly. It warmed his heart to see. Varian wasn’t his, he knew that. But that didn’t mean he didn’t care deeply. And to see both of the children getting along so well? It filled him with more joy than he’d had in years.
He motioned for them to wait a second, running inside before grabbing his prize. Good thing he’d thought to buy a second for himself. Varian’s face lit up when he reemerged with an identical wooden sword.
The knight leaned down, digging the sword point into the ground. “Can I trust you two not to hurt each other?” He asked. Varia nodded violently. “Alright,” He almost said son out of instinct, though he doubted that would go over well. He held the toy out as if he was a knight suiting up his king. In a funny way, he was.
Varian snatched it up, running over to where Ben waited. He let out a shrill scream before jumping at him with the sword, completely ignoring what Quirin had just said.
Ben shrieked, dodging just out of the way in time. He raised the sword high, this time leaning forward in order to fall towards Varian. Their wooden swords collided with a donk .
“Surrender!” Ben yelled, a feral grin on his face.
Varian’s face was just as unhinged with glee. “Never! I will avenge… uh…” He looked over to Eugene, who had walked over to join Quirin in the peanut gallery. “Dad! Can I avenge you?”
“Sure,” Eugene responded.
“I will avenge my daddy!” The little prince cheered. It wasn’t a graceful fight, considering how young they were. It was mostly just two wooden blocks smacking together over and over, with the occasional changing of positions. But the boys seemed to have a blast, and that was enough.
“So,” Eugene hummed. Maybe it was the castle staff rubbing off on him, maybe it was that “parent” drive for gossip. Honestly it could be either one. “How is Ben settling in?”
“See for yourself,” Quirin smiled, gesturing to where Ben was chasing Varian through the orchard. “He’s got a warrior’s spirit, that’s for sure. Lots of energy,” his face fell slightly. “He only uses it when he doesn’t think I’m looking, or when he’s outside. It’s like he’s afraid of messing up and upsetting me.”
“Yea, orphanages are pretty strict, he’s probably just getting a feel for the new rules,” Eugene stuck his hands in his pockets. “Varian was the same.”
“Really?”
“Yea, for a few weeks he was terrified of anyone that wasn’t me or Rapunzel.” His smile turned wistful. “Or you, actually.”
Quirin sighed, a bittersweet sound. “I’m just… glad he’s happy,” he managed. Neither of them had really talked yet, about Ulla, or the moonstone, or really… anything about their situation. Perhaps someday they’d be ready. But for now, this was enough.
-
Quirin wasn’t the only single parent in Corona. Hell, he wasn’t even the only foreigner who knew Ulla and then adopted.
Hugo and Ben probably wouldn’t have gotten along on their own. Hugo was a know-it-all, mischievous, and used his cuteness to his advantage. Ben was stubborn, a stickler for rules, and brutally honest. If they had been left alone, someone probably would’ve gotten hurt. Whether it be one of the boys, or a bystander, that was up for debate.
But they both adored Varian, and Varian adored them. So it was pretty easy for them to form an inseparable trio.
Both Quirin and Donella walked their boys to the castle, watching with amusement as Hugo tried to show Ben what he was reading for the week. It was cute how Hugo adored school, though he wondered how long that would last. Ben was in turn telling Hugo all about the frog he saw in the fields last night.
“It was huuuuge!” He insisted, racing a bit ahead. “Like the size of Ruddiger!”
“Nuh uh!” Hugo pouted. His little ponytail whipped around as he shook his head. “Frogs aren’t that big!”
“Are too!”
“Are not!”
“Are too!”
“How big do you think a raccoon is?” Donella butt in, amused.
Ben shrugged. “Big. Maybe like…” he holds his hands out so wide that he almost strains his shoulders. “This big?”
“But if he was that big, we couldn’t pick him up?” Hugo argued. That causes Ben to falter. For a moment his father feared a real argument, but instead Ben lights up and laughs.
“Hugo, you’re stupid! We can’t pick him up!”
“You mean you can’t, cuz you’re a baby.”
Ben shrieks in offense, but still retains a smile. The conversation quiets significantly after that.
“So,” Donella said, turning to Quirin. “It appears we have a lot in common.”
Quirin groaned. If it were up to him, no one would have ever learned about his past; about Varian’s parentage, the woman who tricked him, and her inevitable downfall. But the royal family wasn’t one for secrets (well, except for Frederick). They didn’t tell the entire story, that would be ridiculous, but rather simply said that Ulla had kidnapped Varian and Quirin assisted them in stopping her. The only ones who knew the full story were those directly involved… and those who knew Ulla firsthand. “Is this about our boys, or our ex?”
She smirked. “It was fairly easy to put two and two together. Ulla is… was… something else.” Donella scratched at her scar, an unfortunate habit she picked up. “When we parted ways, I thought my stay in Corona would just be temporary. I’d lay low in the one place she’d never go, and then head back to the Iron Kingdom. Clearly, that didn’t happen.” Her face fell to a frown, squinting at the too bright sun and unpolluted streets. Some shopkeeper waved at them, and Donella simply rolled her eyes. The blinding palace sparkled in the sun as they approached, and part of her lamented not bringing her work goggles, as they might have provided some protection. Over half a decade later and she still wasn’t used to this place.
“What changed?” the farmer asked.
Her eyes fell to their sons.
“Oh.”
-
“Varian!” Both boys cried in unison. Varian stood in the courtyard, bouncing up and down where he stood. With a fond smile, Eugene let go of his hand, and all three slammed into one another, mouths moving a mile an hour.
“Varian I saw a frog!”
“Well I brought a book! And Mr. Finn says I’m at a 3rd grade level! Whatever that means!”
“And I saw a frog!”
“Well I saw a duck!”
“REALLY?”
“It was a goose,” Eugene corrected. “Hi Don, hi Quirin,” he waved.
Varian giggled, dragging his best friends inside while they continued to talk. His cheeks were a bright red, Hugo was smiling so hard it had to hurt, and Ben eagerly ran circles around the older kids.
-
He and Donella left to run errands in the capital, leaving their boys in good hands. When he came back, groceries and supplies for his new home in hand, he was directed to a small living room.
The room looked like it had been torn apart, with toys and books and games strewn about. Some were still open, others not even out of their packaging. A fire dimly flickered in the fireplace, illuminating a quiet scene in the center of the wreckage. All three boys slept on the floor, oldest to youngest. Hugo and Varian were holding hands, with the older facing the younger as he snoozed. Varian was smiling in his sleep, his ebony hair reflecting the flames. To his left Ben was passed out, one arm on top of Varian’s stomach, and one of Varian’s legs atop Ben’s. A soft burgundy blanket covered them all.
“It’s cute, right?” Eugene whispered as he approached. “I half expected them to set the place on fire.” Quirin snorted.
“You’re just in time, the first meeting about childcare reform starts soon.” The prince consort continued, motioning for him to leave the boys be.
He beamed. He may no longer be Quirin, knight of the Dark Kingdom, protector of the moonstone. Now he was Quirin, farmer, father, advisor to the royal family and newly-formed Child Protective Services.
He liked this Quirin better.
“So,” he said. “Lead the way.”

I need a better name for this
So I’ve seen a lot of people draw their little adventures with @zarla-s Ukagaster and that’s something I kinda want to eventually too, heh. (I’ve had that little once since the beginning and got my own sort of fun events) BUT! That’s not what this is about. You see, my first reaction usually is not to draw, but to write. So I wrote a handfull of random FanFics based on the Ukagaka, all inspired by various things.
All In A Day's Fault was inspired by something that happened happened to @awilddaydreamer and that would not leave me alone.
Relocation came as a response to an increasing trend in terms of what actions people would use on the ghost. (This story in turn was then inspiration to darcelin who has been a longfic based on it over on Deviantart)
Visne ullas peritias is the shortest and most silly of the bunch up to date.
All of these are posted to http://archiveofourown.org because it makes it easier to read and keep track of them over there than on tumblr, haha. More are in the works, I’ll update the post accordingly to keep track of it all (if I remember to do that)

(4/10) Alive Ulla AU - Part 15
Tumblr media
Hello guys , finally I'm going faster ~
Well, due to this AU being about Ulla staying alive during her staying on the Eternal Library (and considering the existence rules I imagined and explained before), this would be the main differences:
Not unhinged : Of course it was sad to betrayed , she is angry at her betrayer, but her body is healthy and she even feels renewed, so, less stress or pain/death trauma to deal, she will recover from this.
Faithful: Feeling trapped, the objetive is reach freedom, so, of course she will explore alternatives, possessing a living body is no needed because she is not a ghost, she is a living being, not everything is lost.
New objetive : What will she do once out of this?, Return to her family. She will go back home with Quirin and Varian, if they are too old (or even dead) , she will search her offspring, Varian's sons, daughters or grandchildren, if he died without it, then search for her twin Ulf's offspring, anything left of her family.
What to do meanwhile?: Keep track of time and feed her hunger of knowledge and peace, lots of answers will be reached here, lots of imaginary friends will be met here (autors speaking to the readers, even interactive texts, feels super realistic), she has her support group.
New habilites: She not only learned modern alchemy, or multiple hobbies, she also keeps working at casting her own twist for searching books and organizing unorganized students texts, as the librarian she is at heart.
Tumblr media
The times has come, Varian was able to open the Eternal Library , she is ready since three days ago his arrival, besides, she set a welcome party, delicious food, games and an defense or attack arsenal with her and for his friends.
Why? Because she also learned divination, the limit is her space, she cannot divinate what happens outside the radio of 3m where she stands, besides, she is a scientist who now the "once you observe a phenomena, the phenomena changes" theory.
She found lots of "future lines" where she was dead , ohhhh..., but in this one were she is alive, still, there are lots of incomes
(And me as an author, picked the easer one xD)
Varian gets in, alone, reciently betrayed by that friend Hugo , according to the lots of visions she saw, he is a good guy who will give up Donella and her agresive second visit to the library.
And Ulla steps in, calls her son, and his reaction has no delay, he recognizes her, even when she saw in the visions how they hugged lots of variants and repetitions, when the hug happens in this real life, she feels so overwhelmed and the hug becomes even more emotional than she initially thought it would be.
Tumblr media
Then she hurries him to a desk , and hurries him to read together a notebook she wrote, please do not skip anything, imagine what he reads , or the magic won't work, he looks like he is confused but obeys, he is a fast reader, he smiles because of the silly sweetness of the text, so the task is done quickly.
A portal appears, Ulla invites him in and the magic happens, just as the texts said, both are in a pretty garden in front of a fancy house, a little table set with apple and chocolate desserts, jam and cheese sandwiches....
And his spade he made with electric wires when he was 13 (the one he showed Eugene and by accident, it evaporated a whole paper poster).
And she carefully takes it and hands it to Varian, and tells him to use it to destroy the desks in front of Donella when she arrives, do not hurt Hugo, he will reconciliate with the team, do not let Yong and Nuru near the spade, it's too reactive.
Demand answers to Cyrus and Donella, if they remember Ulla, if they killed her, what were they planned to do with the eternal library.
That would be only to distract them while she operates, operate what? Later, if they attack first, he can send a full blow to them, they won't die (permanently), just like herself.
Daaaaaammmmm... Mom, are you okey? They wanted to kill her, this is her payback, a way to subdue them, besides, they need to be stopped and jailed, she knows a big list of their crimes against the 7 kingdoms and the lives that ended because of their greed.
Tumblr media
The wait time is over, Varian must go outside this notebook, Ulla will go out in 5 minutes once everyone is distracted.
He is not as confident as he was expected to be, is his mom really alive or a ghost? Her body felt firm, or was it a result of the magic here? He won't be a murderer.
Hugo was the first one to arrive and-
Aaaaand this will continue, thankies for reading 🌃🌹🍇🥭🛋️⚗️🎙️🌼🌂🧪🍊🎡💐

Something There
She blamed Evie, really. It had been Evie who had dressed him in a shredded t-shirt and leather. She'd been the one to force his kingly feet into distressed combat boots. Like some sort of demented, reverse fairy godmother, she had gone and made him up like a true Isle delinquent. He'd even learned to strut like a true VK badass. It had been an image she couldn't have conjured up in even her wildest dreams. For once they had matched on her terms. She'd only been able to turn away from him on the Isle because it was such a stark contrast to the Ben she knew. After the fiasco that had been Cotillion, and he was no longer under Uma's influence, she'd expected him to return the safety of his diligently tailored suits and well polished oxfords. She had promised not be what she wasn't anymore. Stupidly, she'd thought that would be a two way street. Not that she hadn't enjoyed seeing him in his odd combination of royal attire and warn leather that night. She had openly devoured him with her eyes more than once. He returned the sentiment, giving her his newly acquired hooded look of longing. She'd been entertained to discover the different little nooks and crannies he had a skill for finding to worship her in. She snorted at the memory of his love drunk murmurings. "Lady Mal?" Her eyes rolled at Audrey's strained politeness. "Are you listening?" "No. My mind was else where." Which was true, but she was not going to divulge where, even as her eyes slid back to the damning image across the court yard. "You were talking about Castlecoming decorations, right?" Audrey followed her gaze and sniffed in obvious disapproval. "Yes, those pants are rather unseemly. I wonder if he's forgetting that he's still king, even on campus." Mal had always been very vocal about her attraction to the young king. Ever since he'd taken to assaulting her with his eyes and teasing her by fore going his perfect Auradonian attire it had become hard to keep her flirtations light. The other girls at the school had taken notice as well and in the wake of her more subdued commentary they had begun openly voicing their own admirations of his obvious hotness. The purple haired girl ignored the accusatory look she could feel Audrey giving her. She did silently agree that he was pushing things. His oxfords had returned for the most part, along with his tailored shirts and jackets. The pants had not. No matter the occasion, his suits were now equipped with distinctly Isle-esque leather and distressed denim trousers. She was grateful he kept his new, Evie approved, combat boots for casual affairs. When asked, her opinion on the matter was simply indifference. Her personal, not safe for public consumption, thoughts were, "yum!" "Yum? You think chartreuse streamers are "yum?" She blinked at Audrey's shriek of disapproval. "Did your showdown with Ulla give you lasting brain damage?" "Uma." Audrey gave an unladylike grunt of frustration. "Right. Uma. I should probably write that down. Keeping track of your enemies is confusing." "Right, speaking of confusing, who suggested chartreuse?" She saw Freddie's neat signature on the slip of paper. "Yeah, no on the chartreuse. Stick with school colours. Seriously, no pink. Castlecoming is for everyone." The princess huffed as Mal began gathering up her school books. "That's it?" "That's it." She forced herself to keep her eyes on her task off of Ben's leather clad backside. "You will received no further, or greater help from me." If you put the question to her, Mal would say the idea she was avoiding Ben was silly. So, she told herself she wasn't. No, Mal was avoiding certain new aspects of Ben that hadn't been imaginable until her runaway breakdown. "Stupid Evie." She felt his warm hands on her shoulders. She always knew when it was him. She knew the feel of his hands, the pressure, by heart. She knew when he was near or when he was looking at her. She could even tell, at times, when he was thinking about her. She was so aware of him, she sometimes worried it would drive her as crazy as her mother. "I think Evie is rather brilliant." He pressed a kiss into her hair. "Just to appease my curiosity, why do you seem to think she's stupid?" He squeezed her shoulders playfully before moving away from her and around the table to sit across from her. "Fine. I don't think she's stupid. I just think she's taken it upon herself to meddle with certain things to be left unnamed, and that's stupid. Her meddling is stupid, not her." She wondered momentarily why he was overdoing his puppy dog eyes. Then his foot bumped hers. She apologised and moved her's back, but his followed. She squeaked, a sound that nearly broke his innocent act, as the toe of his shoe intentionally teased her ankle. Evie had guilted her into wearing a dress that day, but had allowed the girl a pair old chucks, instead of heals. Mal's trusted combat boots were, mysteriously, missing. "Your darn ankle obsession." His face was now graced with a smirk. "They're so tiny, and sensitive." He leaned across the table toward her, voice dropping to a whisper. "Plus, you like it." She managed to raise a haughty brow in challenge. "Really? I like it?" He hummed and she shivered as he somehow managed to keep up his agonising task under the table. "What else do I like, then?" "Strawberries." She huffed in disapproval, but his smirk stayed in place. "When I look at you." His foot left her ankle, and he leaned over further signalling her to do the same with a curl of his finger. "When I kiss you." Then he did just that and nipped her lower lip before continuing, "my beastly side." She sighed happily and tried to kiss him, again, but he leaned back. "You like it when I tease you." She scowled at the sudden shift in their flirtation. "Quite the list you have there. Anything else?" "Yeah." He reached under the table, taking her by surprise as he lifted her leg up to rest on his thigh. "You like the leather. Sure, you try to hide it. The thing of it is, though, I can feel you. Every time you see me in something not quite Auradon, you can't look away. You eat it up." How could she not? It was like every dark desire she'd never known she had, and she had know idea what she'd done to earn them coming to life. He was now the literal figment of her most guarded fantasies and she was forced to behave. "Do you know what I hate?" It was his turn to be disgruntled as he chuck clad foot began its own journey up his thigh. "I hate that I have to share you. Do you know how frustrating it is that I have to let other people see you?" His eyes closed in relief when she removed her foot from his lap. She only afforded him a minor reprieve, and she delighted in watching his brow furrow. She'd taken a moment to toe off her shoe and then returned to her task of tormenting him. His hand disappeared, again, and she felt it grasp her ankle. "Do you know what I wanna do?" "Lock me in a dungeon and keep me all to yourself." She smirked and tried to inch her foot higher, but he held it where it was. "Mine is my study. At school." She sighed at the image his confession had conjured up, adding to her already endless list of scenarios. His eyes shot open, dark with what she'd come to understand was desire. Her mouth popped open in mock surprise as he growled. "Your study? You don't say." She looked around, as if just realising where they were. "Oh, and look at where we are. School." He released her foot and stood up so quickly his chair fell over. "Put your shoe on." She laughed when he contradicted the command by ducking under their table and picking it up. "Never mind. No time. Gather your things." She continued chuckling, already to the task. He tossed the warn chuck into her bag and then threw that over his shoulder. She was in full hysterics when he unceremoniously pulled her into his arms. "Laugh it up, you wicked fairy." She snickered at the scandalised cries of the students and faculty they passed. "You won't be laughing for long." She was pleased to find out he was right.
