mad props to some like it hot for being the most nominated show, we love that for her

how was kpop nominated for anything. didnt it close like immediately. am i misremembering that entirely

not even a question of jessica chastain getting that tony (though jodie comer is a contender)

best leading actor is going to be up in the air. literally could not tell you who will win, they all have an equal shot and will be a cutthroat fight to the death

i did not even know that sara bareilles was in into the woods. you’d think they’d advertise that more

jordan donica BEST get that featured actor tony. the strongest of feelings on this one

on that note why was phillipa soo not nominated? she’s a pretty famous broadway name, and i get that camelot didnt have the best reviews hence why it wasnt nominated much but you’d think that’s one that they’d push

that being said i do want natasha yvette williams to win the featured actress tony

life of pi will get scenic design of a play

i swear if sweeney todd gets scenic design of a musical im gonna throw hands. there wasnt even any proper fake blood

i am torn on costume design, i will admit, there’s a lot of good contenders. and my two favs this season are pitched against each other so as much as i want some like it hot to win, i very much also think camelot should get it

as much as i love some like it hot i do have to be realistic. new york new york vs &juliet is realistically the showdown that will happen for best musical

leopoldstadt will probably get best play. dolls house will get revival of a play

best revival of a musical will also be a cutthroat fight to the death. the only one i dont think has a shot is sadly camelot. but be prepared for a lot of theatre kids getting very mad when sweeney and into the woods are shown up by parade

Okay I know yall hate Bad Cinderella, but I'm sorry, it should got nominated for, im not even saying winning, but just nominated, for at least best choreography and best costumes, if not also Grace McLean as the queen for best supporting actress and Jordan Dobson for best lead/supporting. Smh

best featured actor in a musical: kevin del aguila in some like it hot (i would prefer alex newell, but i don’t think they’ll win)

best featured actress in a musical: bonnie milligan in kimberly akimbo or betsy wolfe in & juliet

best scenic design of a musical: shucked or some like it hot

best costume design of a musical: some like it hot (i think bad cinderella should have been nominated for this category)

best lighting design of a musical: some like it hot

best sound design of a musical: into the woods

best direction of a musical: parade

best chorepgraphy: some like it hot or & juliet (but probably some like it hot)

It’s the 2017 Tony Awards all over again: My thoughts on the nominations

After watching the nominations on youtube in my acting class with my friend, I have some things to say about the nominations for the tony’s this year. All of the musicals I hoped would be nominated were. Bad Cinderella was nominated for nothing (lol). Even though it has a lot of hate, I hope it stays open until the next Andrew Lloyd Webber musical opens. I am still upset that Grace McLean didn’t get nominated for anything though, after the 2017 tony awards (i’m still triggered from that). One thing I’m extremely mad at (or two things rather) is that Gaten Matarazzo didn’t get nominated for best actor in a featured role in a musical, even though I’m pretty sure he was eligible.

Also…

Ben Platt and Josh Groban are going against each other again.

I’m actually gonna cry.

I really hope Josh wins.
