A new scaremester meant new students, and of course, Frankie was very excited to meet new friends/classmates. After all, they knew what it was like to be “The New Kid” firsthand, so if there was any ghoul fit for the job of welcoming the new kids in, it was them.

As the students approached the big wide doors of the castle-like school, they noticed a new face among the slew of familiar ones.

“Hi, I’m Frankie! This your first day at Monster High?”

sorry but frankie being the ONLY ONE at monster high who thinks cleo is Cool will never not be my fav headcanon

cleo LOOKS like she's the popular one-

the attitude! the presence! the outfit! the ambition! the kind heart and the CONFIDENCE!! But Canonically Speaking-

frankie's the one made from various famous monsters, hanging with the ghoul kids in school. THEY'RE the one crushing hard on the local organization nerd ("self-proclaimed party princess"),

cleo, miss Number One human enthusiast, who means well but isn't always the best at reading the mood or focusing on priorities

(all of werewolf weekend) (also "clawed and clawdeen?? thank ra my parents didn't name me nefra-een! ugh~!" smiles, realizes no one else is smiling, "...right not the time cleo.")

she WANTS more fame, but mainly spends her time setting up school events, talking with her scarabs, and is starting to tag along with the popular group sometimes

result is THIS

So whatever her song says, i headcanon the vibe in school is more like....

Random Monster High Student:

Oh Cleo? Nefera's little sister, the one who always plays a tree in school plays?

Yeah, she has the funniest, most TRAGIC picture in the fearbook- I hear she has to make herself sneeze all over again whenever she wants to get something at the Coffinbean!

She's head of the dance committee, right? They did a "human themed" dance night once, because of her. And didn't she also organize the after-pep-rally eyescream this year? I think I remember her asking me what flavor I wanted...

Her friends? Um well, she's got these scarabs that are kinds cute. She tags along with Clawdeen Wolf and Draculaura sometimes, but I'm pretty sure she wasn't at that wild Nightmore party the crew had at one of Drac's mansions.

Other than that...

Oh oh wait!

I've seen pics of her hanging out with Frankie, though!

You know Frankie Stein- tall, goes by they/them, wears pretty much nothing BUT school memorabilia, falls apart a lot

I think they built a robot instead of turning in a paper one time, and blank out when remembering something from one of their famous brain bits?

They've got like, bits from almost any amazing monster you could name in the last half century! Monster models, Scareisian monsters, ballet dancers, monster scientists, lawyers. Even a bit from a king of Goreway! They're pretty clumsy but I mean, they HAVE only been alive for less than a year...

They dorm with Drac and Clawdeen- those three are pretty much always a trio, except for fearleading practice and theater stuff.

And yeah, I guess I see them with Cleo pretty often. Frankie, that is.

They sit with her at the creepateria a lot!

Huh. The brilliant franken monster and the second-in-line, dramatic, wanna be queen... I mean, don't get me wrong, Cleo's really nice! And her outfit is AMAZING... Just... I wonder what they even have to talk about...?

meanwhile, Frankie, @ Cleo:

actual canon dialogue: "Any party you're in charge of is sure to be zaptacular! You're so good at parties, and planning things, and picking things, and ah... (flustered) ..making things nicer, and..."

cleo-> decides to sneak into the family tomb. frankie -> PICK ME PICK ME PICK ME PICK M-

also frankie: laughs way too long at cleo's lame pun, tells it it's a good one anyway

also also frankie: goes to cleo for help looking good in their fearbook picture, even though cleo's last photo was a disaster and is the whole reason frankie got nervous about theirs

also also also frankie: "Anything for you, Cleo!"

also also also also frankie, after cleo holds their face and compliments them:

Y'know, i kinda have to write the final chapter of my story mundane believers but i've also had the ideas for these OCs in my head for a while now and i can't focus on anything other than them so i just decided to draw designs for them so that i can get 'em out of my head. (EXPLANATIONS OF THESE CHARACTERS + SOME OTHER STUFF UNDER THE CUT)

The frankenstein girl is named "alive" (any pronouns, she doesn't care about gender). She's mixed between 5 different races and doesn't talk much, she's also vewy scawwy but is also very misunderstood. I haven't really developed her much yet lol (also her color palette was, of course, inspired by old black and white horror movies as well as frankie stein from monster high, specifically how they appear in the "reel drama" collector's line)

The girl in overalls is named carrie, she's quite literally a carrot that decided to be human one day and she's desperately trying to fit in with the other humans. Also i imagine she doesn't really now what a name is and didn't actually have one until someone asked and she just said whatever sounded like a human name (kinda like that one headcanon people have about shrek) oh yeah and she has a pet bunny named rabby who's constantly trying to eat her but she doesn't realize it....btw carrie is also an intersex demigirl

Lastly, the girl with blue hair is named makeighlyn. She is a parody of those really weird flash games aimed at girls and i got the idea for her when i watched the youtuber li speaks' video about avata star sue. Basically the gist of what makeighlyn is about is she's basically an exorcist/demon slayer who's generally really sweet most of the time but is pretty much doomguy levels of sadistic when it comes to her job, she ABSOLUTELY HATES demons and wants nothing more than to see them suffer! Oh yeah and also she's pretty fucking two-faced and i consider her theme song to be scary world by night club

Some other inspirations for makeighlyn are mikan tsumiki from danganronpa, the 3 mascots of GirlsGoGames, the artist SleepyCore's OC mew, the artist jo_sipu's OC balvenie and the youtuber caitlyn reilly's "the girl who bullied you in high school" skits (this one's more obvious considering makeighlyn was named after the title character's daughter)

Oh yeah and quick warning: jo_sipu is a GORE artist and quite a few of her animations deal with stuff such as toxic relationships and drug use so if you want to check her out, please do so with caution ⚠️

I know I haven't been posting here a lot. Sorry. But I'm planning to come back.

Anyway. What I can give you is this.

The Stein Siblings. Frankie felt lonely and seeing how Clawdeen, Clawd and Howleen are always together. She made her own siblings.

They're still in sketch phases.

Snake (He/They) is the "oldest" brother. He's a musical genius but he prefers his electric guitar. He got a room in the catacombs. His neighbors love him. (They don't.)

Eve (She/Her) is the "oldest" sister. She holds the world record for speedrunning dating and got a boyfriend less then 24 hours of being alive. Then again it's Hoodude so it's like it was hard.

Alivia (They/Them) is the 2nd youngest sibling. They prefer to keep to themselves and study. Aiming to achieve academic greatness rivaling their father and grandfather.

Bolt (He/Him) is the youngest. Frankie ran out of corpse parts so she had to substitute with some prosthetics. Bolt generates the most electricity out of his siblings due to his constant running. It's hard for him to sit still.

Frankie Stein redesign/character bio.

Frankie Stein (any pronouns bar It/It's)

The Simulacrum child of Dr's Stein. (German-American)

(Genderfluid and Demiromantic)

One of the new students at monster high this year,frankie was only zapped to life 15 weeks before the school year began, wielding both an unbridled love and respect for living (seemingly ironic considering they're made of corpses) they're already considered one if the most compassionate,friendly and caring kids in the school,always eager to make new friends and acting as the mediator and "parent friend" of their existing friend group,despite her naivety admittedly getting them into hot water themselves sometimes…

Likes: science,her friends,trying new things,doll modding and helping people out.

Dislikes: bigotry, hypocrisy,unsafe laboratory environments, unintentionally making people uncomfortable and zier staples and stitches coming undone.

Killer style: one of the things Frankie loves best about meeting new people is seeing hitherto unknown styles of clothing which she takes inspiration from for modifications to her own outfits,regardless of what style inspires her though there's always a distinct streak of dark academia stylings throughout whatever she wears.

Familiar: Watzit,a dog,cat,bird,lizard…thing and her parents first experiment with the science of resurrection before creating Frankie,regardless of what animal parts he's made of Frankie adores the lil guy.

Pet Peeve: if there's one thing Frankie can't stand, it's bullies, especially those attending monster high,it just doesn't seem right that bullying could happen in the same school who stands by the value of being a safe and welcoming space for all who attend. That and improper lab safety.

Freaky Flaw: Naivety, having only been alive for four months Frankie is more than a little naive about the world,and often this coupled with their inquisitive attitude gets them into trouble if not given the full picture, although with some help from their friends they usually come out unscathed by the end.

Spooky Secret: Frankie isn't really the type to keep secrets himself but tries his best to keep any his friends are comfortable with telling him.

Dream job: Having just arrived at MH Frankie is far from focused on what exactly they would like to do once they graduate,but whatever it is it'll probably be something to do with science.

Five Fearsome Facts:

Due to rigor mortis and loose connective tissues, like most other undead monsters Frankie uses a walking aid (in her case specifically a pair of crutches) for ease of movement.

Frankie is Autistic,and stims via handflapping,rocking herself in her seat and bobbing her legs,during this xe also tends to spark from xyr metal staples and bolts as well as this in order to experience everything to its fullest extent Frankie likes to try his best at everything he does and tends to hyperfixate down to the smallest detail,whilst this is admittedly a useful skill while doing things like scientific investigation,it admittedly has its ups and downs elsewhere…

As his parents were able to source only one foreleg before his creation Frankie has a prosthetic leg, made out of (thankfully non magnetisable) metal that he likes to decorate with stickers.

Frankie loves to do doll modding as a pastime,this is spurred on by a fascination with the science of the creation of simulacrum like herself and her mother,however since the creation of simulacrum is a science tied down by heaps upon heaps of permits,forms and other bureaucratic business she instead puts her energy into modifying dolls and making vlogs about the hobby.

Despite literally crackling with energy the majority of the time Frankie is very much a night owl (I mean when was the last time you heard of a mad scientist doing experiments at 9 in the morning?) And as such is far from a morning person,7am on a weekday being one of the few times they're actively grouchy,not helped by their dad semi-sarcastically yelling "it's alive!" every morning as they come down at breakfast.

So yeah, I'm writing out a full reimagining of Monster High.

While I adore the original series concept I feel like it didn't really act upon the values it set out to represent so I decided to reimagine the series from the ground up, essentially my version is Derry Girls meets WWDITS with a little bit of Kipo thrown in for good measure.

(PS, I'm sorry but I'm not a great artist so I'm not really able to visualize my idea for how these characters look, although if you want to see artwork of these characters please check out artists like @spookberry and @creativitydeficient ,since their redesigns of characters like this one are partly what inspired me to start this series in the first place)

Some thoughts on Monster High 2022

When I first Heard that Monster High was going to get a live action treatment I was really scared, and while the film is yet to even properly release, It seems that the negatives outweigh the positives. I mean as far as live action reboots have gone, we've all seen worse, but there's a lot so things to discuss.

Ok so starting off with the positives; The notion of getting canon non-binary Frankie Stein played by a non-binary actor is so slay I'm glad it gave us that at least. I feel like it is a really natural and interesting way to take the character, and any queer rep in monster high of all places is welcomed with open arms, now all we need is for Clawdeen and Draculaura to hold hands perhaps as well.

As far as the fashion is concerned, I'm less excited. Now while I'm not a fashion expert, I feel that the outfits chosen haven't been curated to the level they could have been. While they remain 'vaguely accurate' to each character's aesthetics, I feel as if more could have been done. For instance, drive up Frankie's chaotic academia look, mismatch socks and shoes, go thrifting, dive completely into the gothic lolita fashion for Draculaura, and maybe be a little bit less on the nose with Clawdeen, perhaps instead going for a leather jacket with a fur trim instead of that large bushy coat. outfits are important to a character, it can show how they strive to present themselves and can tell the audience what a character has access to and what they are equipped and prepared to handle, and so far the costuming looks rather cheap and not as natural as it could be, which could all be because of possible budget constraints

Something else I'm a bit gloomy about is the unavoidable lack of a lot of prominent fan favourite characters. Abbey and Clawd specifically come to mind as two I haven't seen yet and will be greatly missed, especially after their lack of appearance in the last monster high reboot. I know monster high has a lot of characters and this is just one movie, but its a bit upsetting that some favs wont make the cut.

And last concern, or perhaps just observation, is the cinematography and stage stuff. Now I am by no means an expert, and can bet money on this being because of budget constraints, but a lot of the clips I've seen so far make the movie look a lot more like a stage play/musical rather than a film. It looks like they're on a stage most of the time with minimal or cheap props and a lot of smoke machines, specifically in the 'Thee of us' number, which also seems to insinuate a decrease in musical quality from the animated films, at least in my opinion. personally I wouldn't have been opposed to this being a stage play if that would have been more applicable to the kinds of thing the people being the movie would be able to produce, which would alleviate many of my concerns.

But in the end, I'm just kinda glad to see the Monster High fandom alive and well, you guys really are troopers for sticking it out this long, and while I most likely wont follow the production for the new film or seek it out once it releases, I hope it gives a new generation the same kind of love it did to people like me when I was younger, and I comment the people behind the film for following in what I hope is for many of them a passion project.

Edit: Learned the directors a racist, which sucks. There's tons of info about all that on here under the monster high tags rn, alongside the controversy about the actors of Clawdeen and Cleo being more light skinned than their animated movie counterparts specifically, which sucks to see, especially in this fandom. I mean, monster high has tackled racism in media before, their whole thing is about unapologetically being yourself, even when other people don't like it, and for a series which is supposed to stand for marginalised groups like that failing to reach these standards is disappointing. I didn't bring it up in the original post, because A. I'm white myself, which means I am by no means the person to throw in two cents on issues such as this and B. there are many blogs by creators who are POC and who have the authority necessary to comment properly on this issue. But that's basically, all I hope, sorry this was such a long post out of nowhere.

Since my English teacher is having us read Frankenstein by Mary Shelley (which is amazing btw) and my dad is having me watch Frankenstein movies…

It got me thinking back to Frankie Stein from Monster High (which was my childhood).

In that Freaky Fusions movie, Frankie brought in blueprints for building her to class for a project. She also said that whenever she tried to ask about Victor Frankenstein, aka her grandpa, her dad would get upset. Which, if you read the book or seen the movies, is understandable.

"He gets into one of his moods and is all 'Rrrgghh! Grandpa BAAD!'"

So that got me thinking: did Frankenstein's monster (and his wife, they're both alive in that universe) build his own daughter?

Because obviously he's still grudging against the doctor, so who else would've done it? I just think that's a wholesome scenario.
