at the start of my baldur’s gate playthrough a few months ago i remember seeing someone say that the companions you initially despise the most are probably the ones who are the most similar to you. and i said that’s corny🙄. anyways time to go cyberbully astarion for being a terminally annoying extrovert who thinks he’s sooo funny and is constantly performing even for an audience of none people and gale for being a huge fucking infodumping nerd. those dots might connect i fear

I think basically everything that can be said about that interview regarding Gale has been said but I did see some people be like “Well, but Gale is annoying and his stans are just woobifying him” and like.
Like, okay. Gale is annoying. And Lae’zel is mean, Shadowheart is a bitch, Astarion is a cunt, Karlach is happy all the time all the time and Wyll is boringly well adjusted. That’s…the first impression you get of them in Act 1. That’s not even their full arc in Act 1, that’s literally the first few minutes you get with them! And then all of Act 1 is just undoing all of that.
In Gale’s specific case, being annoying isn’t even his main flaw. Like it gets brought up, I think because the writers wanted to make sure we would know this is a flaw he actually has in case you, like me, did not even notice you were supposed to be annoyed by him. But it’s not a serious issue or something it’s even remotely implied he has to work on. They still all end up liking each other and working together and flirting at each other. He’s a nerd that talks a lot and unless you end up in a jealousy convo no one really cares. His blissfully happy ending is to become a professor. His infodumping is so good the narrative lets him do it forever.
Gale being annoying (or being bothersome for eating your artifacts) is the player’s problem. You don’t have to like him, you don’t have to like anyone, but the narrative is not there to make a big deal out of it. Why should it? Everyone is flawed and then they get better. If you ignore Gale for being annoying or stake Astarion for being a vampire or forget to save Mizora condemning Wyll to the hells it’s a you problem, just like it’s a you problem if you push Shadowheart to embrace Shar and then Shadowheart is cold to you.
Which is why the writers saying “Well, Gale is annoying so the fact that he sacrifices himself helps him redeem himself” is bonkers (just like rewriting Lae’zel lines to be more palatable is bonkers). Like it’s not just a bad take, it’s a “Gale was annoying so I ignored him the whole game so I don't know what his deal is” take. From the writers. Of the game.
And the rest applies to other weird instances of writing during the game. Like yeah, you can treat Gale horribly, you can treat everyone horribly. You can take advantage of Astarion, you can sell out Shadowheart, you can cheat on Wyll with Mizora and then tell him it’s his own fucking fault for not “pulling out”. But the game doesn’t try to imply that it’s funny that Astarion dissociates during sex. But it somehow is when Gale has to be persuaded into group sex, bolts and then the morning after he is like “Can we just never talk of this again”. And like Gale isn’t special in this regard, there is some stuff with Halsin, Wyll (no seriously what was that short) and even Raphael that is frankly appalling, but it really doesn’t help with the “we just never talked to Gale” vibe. Like if you romance Gale there is a line in the brothel where you can say that if you wanted boring sex you would have just had sex... with Gale.
Gale “I read tons of erotic books and I have so many ideas. Let's do it in the Weave so we can try as many as possible” Dekarios.
Also, nevermind all the serious implications, “He wasn’t ready for [his sacrifice] before but now he is” it’s like not even what happens. Like it’s not even what he says. I should not be reading an interview with the writers of a game and be like “did they just skip all of the dialogue”.
(That interview was also very weird about Karlach but also I just feel like that interview was weird in general, like they just were in a rush and couldn’t really talk in depth about anything so it was vague lines for everyone, it's just that those about Gale particularly sucked).

Baldur's Gate 3 characters as fanfic authors
(Disclaimer: I have not played Baldur's Gate 3. However, I have been on the receiving end of a lot of infodumping and have seen some of my qpp Cas's durge playthrough. Also, I'm doing this for shits and giggles.)
Astarion: He has a profile filled with the most epic of stories, all of which are marked 1/?. His writing is great! However, he has yet to finish a single fic and quite possibly never will. One of those authors where you can tell they've got Issues irl, but he's private enough in his notes that you can't really guess at what those issues actually are.
Gale: Credits his cat as his editor. Strangely, his stories seem to be very well-edited in spite of this. Jumps from fandom to fandom semi-frequently, but he almost always finishes what he starts before jumping into something new, and you can Tell that he's researched the hell out of every new fic he writes. (There is one fic that remains unfinished; while writing it, he vanished off the face of the internet for months and his readers genuinely thought he died. He has not acknowledged what happened with that fic since returning and is unlikely to do so.)
Halsin: His fics are as well-researched and thought out as Gale's, but specifically where nature is concerned. In the past, he's gotten into very big arguments involving ABO fanfic and how it's not even based on how actual wolf pack dynamics work, though he's been around long enough at this point to just block and move on. Also, characters who are shitty towards the environment tend to either mend their ways or not live to the end of the fic.
Jaheira: One of those writers who has been around basically forever. She posts once in a blue moon but whenever she does, everyone goes !!! about it; probably has a lot of user subscriptions on AO3. Probably volunteers with the OTW in her downtime. Has a certain fondness for fics where, just this once, everybody lives. Extremely private where her personal life is concerned, but she used to talk about a husband. (Longtime readers may note that she has never once been online during a certain month of the year, not even to respond to comments.)
Karlach: She keeps writing oneshots about this one specific comfort character of hers going on adventures and getting nice things. Unfortunately, being literally on fire makes her prone to making typos, but we love her anyway, typos and all. Her fics tend to be best described as... shall we say, heartwarming?
Lae'zel: Gets into literally all the fandom drama. She has written multiple fics specifically to piss other authors off and she'll do it again. Several of these were aimed at Shadowheart in particular during a short span of time, like we're talking slamming out a fic a day for like a week. Doesn't get commenting etiquette.
Minthara: Bad endings abound here. Unlike with Shadowheart (see below) she just kind of wants to watch the world burn and write the most fucked-up AUs she can think of. Goes into concerning levels of detail where things like torture are concerned.
Shadowheart: Writes all these hurt/no comfort angstfest fics. Has been straight up asked in the comments of her fics on multiple occasions if she's okay. (She eventually starts to write more hurt/comfort fics, and her audience breathes a collective sigh of relief.)
Wyll: Very cheerful, very responsive to comments, has a lot of variety in his works. Every single one of his fics is co-authored by this other account who he thanks for her(?) assistance in every story, despite the fact that she has never once said anything in the comments section and doesn't appear to have other social media. It is unclear what this other person's contribution is; Wyll has confirmed that she is neither an editor, a beta reader, or a writer herself.

RULES: post 5 songs associated with your OCs and 4 outfits they'd wear
i saw @bhaalsdeepbat doing the tag game and i wanna make one too i hope you dont mind 👉👈
Tumblr media Tumblr media
huehuehue this is Chevrotain, my durge bard
they got fucking wormed half way through the game and became hard to look at so i changed their hair then they look half-decent (not as good looking as the default but still)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
im gonna be sorta infodumping about their lore bc im insane for them
1. Bloody! Bloody! - Junie & TheHutFriends
so in my canon Chevrotain isnt the dark urge like the origin character but another bhaalspawn, theyre still a bhaalspawn though so their gameplay is still a durge playthrough and this song is so accurate to durge's storyline?? like
Ain't it funny how I scare myself sometimes
..You take his hand quite literally..
..I probably shouldn't have said that..
They said, the lady in red / Bloody! Bloody!
Durge being literally shocked at kicking the squirrel involuntarily?? / the Gale incident / durge saying freakish shit most of the time / literally Orin
this song is my number one go to when i think of Chevrotain 😭
2. Abbey - Mitski
i mentioned that Chevrotain is a cannibal 🥺 its funny bc they dont have any sense of taste, they also have a huge identity crisis thanks to Bhaal whispering to them on their "role" and they whole "you were created bc blah blah blah"
I am hungry I have been hungry I was born hungry What do I need? I am something I have been something I was born something What could I be?
the theme i like to go with them is "starvation", like being starved of fatherly love from Bhaal, being starved of their own identity, being starved of their own mind, being starved of a home.. so this song fits into it SO PERFECTLY
3. Our Word - 36 Questions, Jessie Shelton
GAH this song is so cool from the coolest musical i know (i only know like 6 musicals 🙃), its literally a musical podcast?? so cool.
anyways Chevrotain is a bard right, they usually manipulate people with their words, a lot of deception and persuasion bonuses, so they are a very deceitful and as a result they are a very distrusting person.
the song is about a girl who was raised to be a compulsive liar - when she accidentally broke her dad's ship in a bottle - her mom told her to lie to get out of trouble and it worked, so she kept lying and lying and lying to get herself out of situations.
the song ends with a near death experience, but all she can think in her dying moments is how her parents are going to lie about her existence just to avoid the hassle of dealing with her death.
And it's our word Yes, our word It's our word Yes, our word Against theirs
the thing about Chevrotain is that they cannot trust easily - and what they fear the most is that theyd be tricked the same way theyve been tricking others - its a constant for them and this song embodies it perfectly (・ω・)b
4. Animal Cannibal - Possibly in Michigan, Karen Skladany
haha cannibal mention
iconic song tbh, this one isnt as intricately tied to Chevrotain's character quirks in my mind as the others and its more of their whole vibe and sthick
Who knows how some people turn to strange ones Is it up to me to make them into dead ones? (Here we go again) I bite at the hand that feeds me Slap at the face that eats me Some kind of animal cannibal (Animal? Cannibal)
the tricking people into thinking theyre an unassuming bard even though theyre an experienced necromancer
and that they rebel against Bhaal pretty aggressively (well, as aggressive as you can when youre going against your literal God father without being punished by death 💀) such as never calling Bhaal as "father" pre-amnesia
5. The Milk Carton - Madilyn Mei
have i ever mentioned here that Chevrotain fell into the Feywild when they were around 9?
they were following a grinning cat named 'Alice Alice van Malice' who later became their guardian because fucking Ethel spotted baby Tain, took them in bc she realize that a bhaalspawn would make a strong hagspawn, since Alice didnt want to be responsible for a horrific fate of a child he decided to keep watch of them 😭
so this song is more to baby Tain's perspective, that they are now living in a stinky swamp in the Feywild and sleeping on a cold slab of stone instead of the cozy foster home they were in before..
I think I really miss my bed Oh when, oh when will the nightmare end? I had it good, I had it good And yet I left and can't retrace my steps Think I forgot a couple things My brain is still at home (Stop telling me all about your problems)
..but hey, at least theyre not dead!
Outfits/Style
Chevrotain's style is called classy and youthful in the DnD universe and timeline, but in todays world we call it grandmacore ❤
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
ok well it has a prince-like flare to it, the embroidery would be all silver bc one thing about Chevrotain is that theyre good at commiting to the bit, also the clothes beinf airy, flowy and puffy is important bc they dont like their clothes being skin tight bc they get uncomfortable easy.
its all billowy blouse + black pants combo bc its a classic and i love it SO MUCH, i eat this combo all the time everytime
im too shy to tag anyone else for this akdnsjnd anyone who wants to join in from seeing this post.. please tag me in it bc im nosy and i want to see ur Tav/Durge :3

Spurred by Chell/Glados fanart I saw, now I'm thinking of Chell from Portal antics in BG3. She's got no portal gun, but let's say that she finds a Hither Thither staff early on to commit to the portal bit. Either she's mute or she speaks Very sparingly, she is quiet and introspective and a great puzzle solver. She's a great listener who nods as Gale infodumps on her. She'd like Lae'Zel and Minthara and honestly Orin too because they all remind her of Glados. Romance just isn't the same without them trying to kill her at least once.
Wyll and Karlach get along great with Chell but also think she's being aloof and distant when really she's just silently enjoying their company.
She adores Scratch and the Owlbear. Absolutely.
The tadpole mind connection gives her a way to silently convey information to her companions without needing to speak, which makes dealings a lot easier. Literally broadcasting your thoughts is a plus of the parasites.
Also she'd fuck the Emperor I said what I said, Chell's life prior to these antics was exclusively being trapped in a Facility with multiple manipulative homicidal robots, and a weird manipulative squid alien that Doesn't want to murder her is a surprising breath of fresh air.
Honestly I could even see her accepting having to become an illithid in order to save Orpheus, being a squid alien lets her broadcast her thoughts without needing to speak. Being a squid thing that doesn't need to verbally speak and can do telekinesis is a win win.

Hi hi! For the OC ask meme - you pick who you're jonesing to write for! <3
🍒: Has Your OC had their first kiss yet? If so, with who?
🍆: Does your OC have any favourite form of affection, physical or otherwise?
🌽: How does this OC feel about acts of affection? What's their favourite act of affection, physical or emotional?
🍰: What's something your OC counts as unforgivable?
🍩: What's a crime your OC is most likely to commit? What's a crime they're most likely to get arrested for?
Oooh, lotsa prompts. :D Thank you!
(Odd OC Asks)
I'm gonna stick with Hector again bc as I said, he's on my mind tonight. XD (Rakha is too - looking forward to getting her liveblog back up and running - but she's still in Act 1 and I don't have strong answers for some of these questions just yet because she's still figuring herself out. :P )
Tumblr media
🍒: Has Your OC had their first kiss yet? If so, with who?
Indeed! I don't actually think it was Karlach, either, though she is his first relationship/sex. I think I established at one point that Hector had a brief flirtation with a girl in the village near the monastery when he was in his late teens; it didn't get tremendously far but they definitely had a few secret rendezvous to make out.
However - his order isn't celibate but it was sort of frowned upon to get caught up in that kind of thing and so the whole thing got stomped out by the then-Abbot and after that Hector buried himself in his studies and didn't really come out again until the Nautiloid caught him.
🍆: Does your OC have any favourite form of affection, physical or otherwise?
This kind of relates to the above - Hector has been pretty touch-starved his whole life and also knows that Karlach ALSO has, so their relationship is VERY touch-heavy and he's sort of fascinated by it, by just being able to reach out and feel her near him any time he likes and get that same gesture in return. Any time he's near her and his hands aren't otherwise occupied he almost always has a hand on her arm or around her waist or shoulders, and she is the same way; it's not really even a deliberate thing on either of their parts, just instinctive, automatic.
With friends, he's less touchy-feely (although he got more so over time - there were a lot of hugs during the epilogue party), and I think his biggest gesture of affection comes around discussing each others' interests. He's always very actively interested in the things that are important to his friends (looking back, he absolutely first started to fall for Karlach when she infodumped about demons at him :P ), and super excited when someone (often Gale and Shadowheart) bring up something he's interested in and let him ramble in return.
🌽: How does this OC feel about acts of affection? What's their favourite act of affection, physical or emotional?
Oops. I guess the above answer was supposed to be just about receiving affection, and this one is about giving affection? I sort of answered both at once, lol.
🍰: What's something your OC counts as unforgivable?
My initial instinct was to say blasphemy but that's actually super untrue; he got close to Shadowheart even before she gave up on Shar, he was ready to throw hands with Mystra for Gale, etc. So his relationship with religion got very complicated very fast as soon as he left the monastery actually, which is interesting to think about.
Looking at the moments where Hector got the most angry/upset during the game, the answer seems more likely to be cruelty or indifference to those in need and unable to defend themselves. His biggest snap moments were 1) his temper tantrum at Shadowheart in the House of Healing, which was really at Malus Thorm except he was already dead, 2) Arfur Gregorio and the gunpowder in the refugees' toys, 3) Valeria not giving a shit about the outcome of her investigation, 4) seeing the Steel Watcher killing a little girl through the brains in the Foundry, 5) Wulbren Bongle, nuff said, and 6) the asshole running the dog kennel. (And, of course, everything to do with Gortash, Orin, Cazador, Raphael, Viconia, and Mystra.)
🍩: What's a crime your OC is most likely to commit? What's a crime they're most likely to get arrested for?
Hm. There isn't a TON of criminal activity Hector would be involved in. In a lot of ways he is the guy from that Club Penguin meme ("They can't do that, that's illegal!") - he got, for instance, super incensed about the djinn rigging the carnival game in Rivington. XD
However - he has definitely killed and will kill again, albeit for self-defense and/or civic duty reasons, so y'know there's that.
The real answer here, however, is that by Act 3 he was SUPER willing to steal all the shit from anyone who was a jerk to him/his friends/those in need (see previous question). It was for the most part a very Robin Hood-esque instinct (he didn't really want the money/goods for himself particularly and definitely paid it forward). But yeah the answer here is definitely petty burglary against jerks. :P

Tumbleweed coming up to Gale one day to show him the newest book he's gotten his hands on and announce his new find and is excitedly telling every detail about it without any inhibition and his tail spinning around in nerdy glee and
"It seems..pretty... Um, pretty good.👍 Very nice. Lend me it when you're finished?" Tumbleweed is a little confused by his absent wording, but beams and nods with the brightest smile known to man. That's enough for Gale to then twhirl around with a thumbs up, for then to quickly to trot off his embarrassment from being way too caught up in Tumbly's eyes to hear a word he was saying and it's one of the few moments that just hit him like a punch because damn is he not used to this and damn his wizard companion sure is cute and damn does he want to kiss him so bad, it'll probably keep him awake at night
Meanwhile Tumbleweed is just standing there sorta wondering if he said something wrong, if he spoiled the book or if Gale just wasn't in the mood for a infodump, but feeling strange tingling butterflies rise in his belly thinking back to how blissfully gone Gale had seemed when only looking at him, not the book

game headcanons and infodump on Illium below:
so they changed the voice for voice# 4 (male) and it's no longer the deep sexy voice from my first playthru? Not sure if they changed it so only dream protectors can have that voice?
but the new voice has grown on me and it's Illium's voice now
Tumblr media Tumblr media
anyway headcanons for Illium in this playthru:
faced a lot of adversity because he's a drow (despite being Seldarine), both from other people and overcoming his own biases and upbringing. He can be ruthless, cunning, and a terrible force to be reckoned with in a fight, but also surprisingly gentle if he lets his guard down. He's genuinely a good person at heart, but it takes a long time for him to let his guard down and let others see it.
he's actually really kind (he's just standoffish about it)
he's not the brightest bulb with his feelings usually, but he fell instantly, stupidly, in love with Shadowheart and understands her a lot given his own drow background, and just wants a better life for her where she can smile from the bottom of her heart. Illium: "I'm not sure if this is love, but she smells nice and I want to make her smile and I lose my train of thought when she's near. I now have to talk to her about stupid shit like 'How am I doing?' and 'Unrelated to anything, what do you think about Seldarine drows?'"
seriously, it's pathetic
the biggest badass warrior and he would stupidly walk into a tree or something because he was paying more attention to Shadowheart
he would probably choke on wine he was drinking or his own spit when talking to her because he inhaled wrong
Shadowheart hasn't said anything because she's still figuring out a Risks/Rewards chart on whether she should give up on Shar and jump on Illium to demand he take her
He's stubborn, standoffish, can be tricky in testing out how the other person thinks in a conversation and try to subtly drive the person to his wanted outcome, but he's also pants at outright lying.
He's terrible at music, but he really wants to learn! and has been secretly trying to learn while they've been traveling. Also for someone who claims to hate reading boring books, loves popular fiction novels and plays.
He has only had Scratch and the owlbear cub for 5 minutes but he would kill everyone in a 5 mile radius and then himself if anything happened to them. But he will be genuinely confused if anyone calls him a softy for loving them so much. The new squeaky ball he bought for Scratch is not relevant to anything. Quit asking.
He thinks of himself as a loner and not good with people, but inadvertently does so many kind things that people will swear blood oaths for him. He keeps trying to keep people at arm's distance, but Gale thinks they're fast friends, which confuses Illium. He likes being friends with Wyll, is suspicious but friendly to Astarion (whom he swears that he just views as a necessary traveling companion but he keeps doing kind things to help him). He respects and fears Lae'zel. And he doesn't want to admit it (he's a loner dammit!) but he is on his way to becoming besties with Karlach (it's impossible to hate her).
Illium: "I'm not kind! I'm ruthless! I'm a drow! I'm being pragmatic!" (rescues orphans and gives them puppies, while shaking his head and frowning)
he's honestly just a dope and i love him

Baldur's Bounties: Nicknames
At any point in life, one was given a nickname. It may be a shortening of a name, or perhaps it described something. That something could be of anything: circumstances, personalities, a moment in time, the body, favorites... Weichei contemplated the ones he has accrued over his lifetime and ones for his companions.
Weichei has been compared to a star before. He was not like the sun, something gentler. But he was not like the moon, something not so melancholic. The bright freckles on his cheeks had earned him the nickname of Starcheeks by Einar Cadmus, the paladin who gave it all up for music. His penchant for cannons and explosions earned him the name Starburst by Relentless Makatza, the gunslinger grandpa.
His partners don’t really use the star nicknames from their own language (stellino, sternchen), using his love of cherries and his family nickname. ‘Cheri’ was typically called sweetly, fondly; but he could remember the calls of exasperation and shrill shrieks. ‘Mauschen’, the little mouse of his family. He was so small compared to his absolute giants of his family, and his ever moving inquisitive ears.
But for some reason, ‘Starlight’ slips out of his lips terribly easy for the vampire spawn of the camp. Astarion, little star in elven. Star was an obvious nickname, but for some reason, Starlight, was the one that left his lips. Wyll can take calling Astarion ‘Star’ or ‘my star’.
He can remember when he first called Astarion that, it earned quite an inquisitive look. It was like seeing the stages of grief on that pale face, but not those exact emotions. Then, a bit of a forceful bark of a laugh. “That’s cute darling.”
Then he kept calling him that throughout the adventure, earning some teasing queries from the other companions. He honest to gods don’t know why it came to him so easily, but nicknames were just also a 2nd nature to him. Damon was Dage (his big brother), Dalmond, Macadamon. Lor was just lengthening it and making the names just as ridiculous. Asperitas was Peri, Pear. Volna was Voli, Vol, Spines. Beaulieu was Beau, Bear. Damiano was Dame (either sayings), ex-husband/exie/my mistake (an extremely funny explanation), dancer. Vierna was Vie, Vienna. Yasdia was Ya-ya, Yazzy. Temerity was Mer, always Mer.
His new companions also had nicknames, though some may be kept to himself.
Lae’zel was Lae, Zel, Lae’bel. Though, he’s not sure she’d be too keen with the nickname Toad being said familiarly. Suddenly, his heart ached at the memory of sharing custody of a frog and toad with Voli. They named them Missile and Toad respectively, especially fitting when Vetleviola came along.
Shadowheart was Orchid, Doe, Heart. He does shorten it to Shart from time to time in his journal. He’s sure she’d be appalled and punch his arm for it.
Wyll… bill… Duck, he landed with duck, and it stuck. The warlock hearing his reasoning admitted it was silly, but then when he explained that it also meant “dear” or “darling”, he softened.
Karlach was harder to pin, having drawled out Karl. Lackey could be seen crossed out heavily in his journals. Fireball could be used, or perhaps comet. He’s working on it, maybe Chath (drow elvish for fire) would work.
Gale took some doing. They have been calling each other bookie, for their love learning and infodumping when allowed. He could see the wizard be an Eres-blessed, majorly at that. He could’ve been Eres’ Passion, and perhaps that’s why he called him Iris.
Halsin was Hal or Bear. He did remind him of Beau, he has seen large elves before. He married Beau, and his Vaddy was built like a tank. Though in his sleepy state, he has called the wood elf Sisi.
Jaheira reminded him of a grandmother, Oma slipping easily from him. She could complain and argue she was not that old, but she holds Joma close. She was probably around his parent’s age, maybe a little older. He’s also called her Heira, she doesn’t make as much fuss.
He’s told the group the whole splattering of names he’s been given. Weichei had become Weich, Cher, Cheri, Cherry, Cherries, T’puuli, Cher bear, Little Whistle, Silver Silence, maus, mauschen, little maus, triel, little triel, starcheeks, starburst, son, Batty, pup, puppy, little bat. And more he couldn’t quite recall. He’s lived 250 years, made so many friends across the trade, taught so many.
He wondered, if the others were jealous of the type of life he’s lead. Out of everyone, he didn’t have a terribly tragic past, an abuser in his life. He’s grown up poor and constantly moved in a trade considered dangerous, but those were circumstances. His deity was quite different from the others, well the pantheon overall from his home was vastly different. They actually listened, but some do have iffy times with responses. As Eres’ passion, he was granted the blessing to be able to talk with his goddex often. Though, because the pantheon was different here, he needed a magic source to even be strong enough to get a signal.
He’s been called “my passion, passion” before, but that’s because he was chosen to be that. But hearing it fall from Gale’s lips did leave a warmth in his chest, a twinkle in his eye. Wyll took the various forms of Cheri, the familiarity just felt comforting as he leaned into the man. Astarion kept using “darling”, but that was kinda for everyone. But, he has taken to calling him mouse, finding it quite amusing especially after learning why.

I was gonna do more doodles here but Im tired so
#keese draws#oc art#oc posting#eternal gales#ok time for some stalien biology infodumping because thats what most of these are abt#so generally staliens dont rly have a whole lot of water in their bodies and generally dont rely on it much at all#which makes sense since their planet doesnt rly have easily available drinkable water with most of it either being underground (where most#of their planet's other lifeforms live) and in swamps (which also make up a pretty huge chunk of their land#they still like use water but mostly just for like watering crops and making other stuff#this is my long way of saying that a lil bit ago I wondered if they could like. cry or whatnot.#now the short on topic and boring answer is yes but not as an emotional response just for basic flushing stuff out of eyes purpouses#but this lead me down a different train of thought so now they sorta also cry as an emotional response but not but kind of#basically the energy that staliens carry in their blood cant actually get through their skin so when using their powers externally they#have to channel it through either their eyes and/or their mouths depending on which they have#but neither can actually hold that much power or the base stalien blood at any given time so when a stalien tries to use more energy then#they can hold there their bodies flush out a bit of the excess energy#that being said this function can still be triggered without them using their powers at all if they just simply get too emotional#usually when a stalien gets too stressed or emotional their bodies sort of automatically prepare power to be used in defense for smth#but when they dont use it theres not necesarily risk of the power damaging anything but having too much base blood in there could#so this is gonna make me sound like a edgelord but when they 'cry' as an emotional response theyre kinda crying blood#staliem blood without any sort of energy channeled in it is like semi transparent and generally a bit thicker than most liquids#when there is energy channeled in it however it becomes more energised and is able to actually flow and do blood stuff#but its also high energy enough that when its not packed into their bodies it becomes a gas#now its hard to see but for dancer thanks to his health issues his 'tears' still end up becomming a gas upon getting flushed out#this is because of a mixture of his body both being much warmer than your average stalien and his body not being good at filtering the#energy out of his blood when flushing it out#also stalien mouths also have this function just mentioning in case I wasnt clear enough#also while I drew dancer 'crying' he and busy both actually take a lot to cry like at all#this is because they have both eyes and a mouth so its not as easy for them to overload them with energy enough for their bodied to start#flushing stuff out

karma (general life/kin ramblings)
i think i was 9 or 10 when i first heard the word karma and i was never the same. i was an abused child who had been completely abandoned by the world and i was alone and scared and enraptured by the idea of it. it was like prayer to me. it was like faith. this belief that the cosmos themselves would hold the wicked accountable. people had failed me. adults had failed me. the court system had failed me. if i had friends i am sure they would have failed me too. i was living with a monster, forced to hold my own against her, and the only weapon i had was my ability to persist. sometimes i feel like i was born with the divine tenacity that keeps my soul afloat--a stubbornness that doesn’t allow me to give in, even in the darkest times. other days i think it has to do with discovering karma. a light at the end of the tunnel. if i just keep holding on, the bad people do will come back to them like some sort of retributive boomerang. if i hold on, and if i do good, and if i just don’t give up, i’ll live to see my own revenge. i don’t have to lift a finger. i just have to wait and not give up.
i was 13 when i discovered wiccan practice and i was never in it for the magyck, i was in it for the karma. i was in it for the central threefold rule, i was in it because i wanted to worship that truth like a true devotee on my hands and knees. i fell out of the practice itself but kept that rule so close to my heart, i scrawled it on my diaries and on my arms with sharpie, an it harm none, do what ye will. it was here i started taking the first part more seriously--focusing less on the bad karma of others, more on the good karma of myself. i became a pacifist, shedding the anger i wore as a child. it was easy to let go of, back then--i didn’t need to be angry, i didn’t need to seek revenge. the universe would do it for me. karma would do it for me. staying levelheaded was so easy, knowing the cosmos saw all, knowing they would stand proxy for my wrath.
just hold out. just do good. do good even if everyone does bad unto you. it’ll balance, it’ll balance, it’ll balance, the world does not forget.
i was 20, sitting in the downstairs office of my childhood home with my abuser. they hadn’t lain hands on me since we were 15, and i believe in second chances. undertale came out that year and i was kin with sans for reasons that still confuse me to this day, but kin rarely makes sense so i’m not content to unpack it. i’m fighting sans and losing and infodumping about KR, sans’ special attribution, which stands for KARMA and erases invincibility frames of the player character, who’s exhausted all the horrific and vile things you can do in the world of the game. they’re quiet for a moment, staring at the screen, and then they say, ‘you really are sans.’
and i haven’t said the word karma to them before that moment, but the last time we were close i said it every day, the last time we were close it was the heart of my being, and in that moment their presence on my couch makes sense, and in that moment i realize that every horrible thing that’s ever happened to them, they blamed it on the way they once upon a time treated me. because i believed so thoroughly in that, too, they believed. to them, karma swirled around me like a shield, protecting the flame of my heart from the howling gales that tried it.
i was 21, i think, my memory is so fuzzy. i was 22, maybe, when i declared wobbuffet my favourite pokemon. it being my least favourite had been a little bit of a joke, a joke i upheld since i was very little and first saw jessie with him, screaming about how much of a thorn in her side she was. but the joke had grown on me, and so too did wobbuffet, and at this point in life he was my exact opposite. i had given up on being a pacifist, and i still believed in karma, but i also believed in seizing my own destiny in the sidelines. i was loud and angry and impatient, and wobbuffet was the patient pokemon. and wobbuffet was based on the okiagari-koboshi dolls, little things meant to represent karma, waddling dolls that push back twice as hard when you push on them. and he couldn’t attack, but he could take what you threw at him and throw it back twice as hard, and he was fine with that, and he was patient, and he was blue like the highlights in my hair when i was 13.
and he was tenacious just like me, hard to kill, he’d just drag you right into hell with him if you tried.
and i was 21 when i started writing a story about him and all his friends from the pokemon anime, denounce the evils i called it and i wrote it with my best friend. and we had just gone through this impossible, unsurvivable year, and so i wrote our year, and so i wrote our future, my future--what i hoped, what i dreamed. i wrote a story about bad people trying to do good things. and in january of 2017, i was 21 and i opened a doc to write out the guidelines, the series bible, the guiding light to what i wanted this story to be, and i wrote,
Tumblr media
and i wrote,
Tumblr media
and i wrote,
Tumblr media
and i was 24 when multiple folks in my inbox saw me get a man named von Karma on a uquiz and half-joked, oh no, look up his daughter, actually, and i laughed for a moment scrolling her wiki--“ah, right, another mean anime woman. got it.”--and left the page, not thinking about it a moment more. and i was 25 when i stopped believing in punitive justice, which conflicted with this part of myself i had held onto for so long. and i still believe in karma, with my whole heart, i think--but in the context of consequence, rather than some hammer of justice coming down upon the wicked to hurt them like they have hurt others. because it is... more nuanced than that, even if after so long it’s hard for me to think about.
and i was 26 when again i was told, i think you should look up franziska von karma. and i said, i have, but had i, really? i hadn’t, because, if i really had, i would have told those anons two years ago that they were right.
and it’s... hard, to see this young girl from years in the future and know where she is, it’s hard to see the way the world has turned its back on her and how badly she wishes to protect anyone else from that fate. she fights for what she believes is true justice, she fights because she wants to strike down evil and punish those wicked enough to kill and maim and hurt, because if she can strike fear into the hearts of those who’ve yet to, maybe she can save someone, anyone. and she’s wrong--that’s not what stops people from committing these heinous acts--but what else can she do? she can’t just sit around waiting for the consequences to come on their own, she has to be the consequence, she has to be the fallout.
and they called her Karma.

infodump about erica before and after galactica!! - rockinrollercoast
Erica!!! One of my fave characters at the moment, she’s gotten a lot of love from me recently and she’s developed a lot~
Now here comes the info dump!
Air!Erica
-When she first became a guardian she was super timid and shy, and pretty clumsy. She worried that she wasn’t fit to be a guardian, let alone a secret weapon.
-Her Park job at the time was working at the Air shop.
-She said sorry up to 20 times a day. On a good day.
-She built her flight suit a year after becoming the guardian of Air. She could fly in her SW form but found it appropriate if she could also fly around the park anytime she wanted. She based her outfit off bat wings, and the suit contains invisible to the eye tech programmed into it that allows her to fly for long periods of time and do complex maneuvers.
-Her suit has gone through several builds. Her final suit as Air was labeled “Flightsuit 16”
-She always had a fascination for space and sci fi. She would spend her free time writing stories about the people she saw at the park.
-She gradually grew less awkward over time but still tended to be super shy around strangers.
-She liked to sit on top of the track after hours and look at the stars.
-She has a lisp that comes out more if she’s nervous or flustered.
-She’s very fidgety and loves being able to fix and fuss with things.
-She likes to cook and bake, and it’s a secret hobby of hers.
-She was very passive and not good at sticking up for herself.
-She bruises easily and is very sensitive to pain. Not very physically strong, she is the brains of the guardians.
-While she likes rollercoasters she still gets nervous waiting to ride them and screams hysterically on rides. Probably because of the lack of control she has while on them.
-She collects her rides merchandise. The ride guardians pretty much get whatever merchandise they want, but Erica gets a thrill from eBay auctions for rare Air merchandise. She’s a nerd at heart and loves to collect things. Bonus points if it’s a charm with moving parts.
And now for Galactica!Erica
-Once the Air Shop becomes the Rollercoaster Restaurant, she starts to work there for her cover up job.
-She designed her new Galactica look, including the portal shaped hair tie.
-She became more confident after her rides retheme, due to her role becoming more important as a guardian.
-She was gifted a Galactinaut companion by the other Galactinauts who believed she looked a lot like their fallen leader.
-She learned the “Galactican” language.
-Her hair becomes space “colored” when she puts on her VR headset.
-She is a little less shy and more determined, but still gets easily flustered and embarrassed.
-She is super into the space aesthetic.
-She trains in a VR room, where she basically plays video games to sharpen her skills.
-Evelyn created an AI training assistant named “E.V.E” to train her in the VR realm.
-Outside her training, her VR headset will show data on opponents and allies, such as strength, abilities, health, etc. There is also a mode that shows everyone as space cadets. She likes that setting and usually has it on.
-She kind of gets into LARPing, and convinces the others to do it as well. Rita, Mr.S, and Beatrix really get into character. Surprisingly, the cynical Earl eventually does as well, wanting to show off his Shakespearean acting skills.
-She gets more invested in writing but is scared to share her work with anyone but Gale her Galactinaut and Amelia her pet bat, despite wanting to be a Sci Fi author.
-She learns how to fly a spaceship and goes off into space eventually.
I guess that’s all I have for now! I’m sure I’ll come up with some more tidbits later on, but it was fun (and took a bit of time to actually get all this out) to write this!
