i've been too busy with school to do much fic writing, but this has been sitting in my drafts for a while. it's meant to be chapter two of a fic i posted a while back, but the first chapter got like three notes which kind of fried my motivation to keep working on it when other swtor OCs decided they wanted my attention.

Danestri gritted her teeth and stared at the utilitarian grey trim on the doorway to her quarters, willing it to stop fluttering in the right side of her vision. A migraine was the last thing she needed to deal with while setting up camp in Lokin's safehouse. She tapped through her wrist comm to check the ship’s nav computer, which reported brightly that they would reach Dantooine within the hour, and groaned as quietly as she could muster. At this rate, the headache would hit her right as they landed. Another reason she would never trust the Empire again - she’d never had a migraine in her life until Kothe had activated her programming. Immediately after, she’d stubbornly tried to tell Keeper that she’d been compromised, only for the strain to bring on a pulsing static at the edge of her vision.

Death does not take gods into it’s rest.

A god falls forever but the abyss is not empty.

Entropy, infernal growth, eternal mouth, rises up to meet the corpse’s still-beating heart.

A god does not die.

A god is devoured.

But.

The Humans saw their creature die. And they worshipped it for dying and as dying.

Gods do not die. Yet this one dies, as the words of worship make it so. Yet it lives, as the power of worship makes it so. The Undying God screams. The Carrion Lord rots, yet the Immortal Emperor grows in power.

The Undying God screams……and is heard.

It starts in the Throne room but gradually spreads throughout the Palace. Why should they fear or hate it? The words of their Lord are met with joy. Their changing bodies accepted with honour.

(What if the presence of the Emperor's Death had...side effects? Soul-bound to Him as they are, surely his Dearest Companions would change with Him...)

Tips for Writing Character Descriptions

(Starring Shaw, an OC from Constellations as he is a bastard and I love him) Let's start with a very boring description as a baseline.

'He looked more like a vampire than most of his kind. His skin was unnaturally pale and his eyes all black. His bald head had metal plates riveted into it. His throat was in a collar with wires that burrowed into his skin. His grin showed a lot of sharp teeth. His gauntlets were tipped with long claws.'

Oof, that's boring. The list-like sentence structure has already put me half to sleep. Sounds like you've described a Halloween prop instead of a character, Shaw sounds very lifeless.

1. Remove pronouns You have just introduced your character. The next paragraph is the description and that is why it is a separate paragraph, the Reader will still be able to follow when the paragraph after that is back to the narrative. The Reader does not need constant pronouns to remind them who is being described.

'Looked more like a vampire than most of his kind. Skin was unnaturally pale and eyes all black. Bald head had metal plates riveted into it. Throat was in a collar with wires that burrowed into his skin. Grin showed a lot of sharp teeth. Gauntlets were tipped with long claws.'

Even though some of your sentences don't make sense any more, it's still more exciting to read, isn't it? Your eyes are enjoying all those different capital letters.

2. Change your sentence layout Since we're going with minimal pronoun usage, sentences will need to change to make sense. But let's go a little further and switch some of them around.

'Looked more like a vampire than most of his kind. Skin unnaturally pale and eyes all black. Metal plates riveted into his bald head. Throat was in a collar with wires that burrowed into his skin. Sharp teeth showed in a grin. Gauntlets were tipped with long claws.'

Oh yes, much better. However, he still sounds like he's just standing there. Well, maybe he is, but he can't be completely lifeless.

3. Tie in some actions Animate your character. What are they doing while being described? Think about your setting but also what sort of person they are. Or maybe they really aren't doing anything. So, describe the setting, the light, the atmosphere.

'Looked more like a vampire than most of his kind. Skin unnaturally pale and eyes all black. Dim lighting played over metal plates riveted into his bald head. Throat was in a collar with wires that burrowed into his skin. Sharp teeth showed in a grin. Gauntlets tipped with long claws flexed lazily on the armrests of the throne.'

Looking good! In all honesty you could stop there, but maybe it just needs an extra touch of something to finish off and make him truly memorable.

4. Abstract imagery Similes and metaphors! Yes, doing these last, now that we a have a feel for the character. And let's keep away from 'x like a' and 'x was a' wording. Not just similes and metaphors though, let's change up some of our words and actions. Choose words and imagery that make the Reader feel how they should feel about this character. E.g. don't tell me someone is shifty, tell me their words are slippery and that they never meet my gaze for more than a second.

'Looked more like a vampire than most of his grotesque kind. Corpse-white skin around pitted eyes that gleamed like tar in the dim light. That same light played over metal plates riveted into his naked scalp. Throat clasped in a collar with maggot wires that wormed darkly into his skin. Sharp teeth flashed in a crocodilian grin. Gauntlets tipped with long claws flexed lazily on the armrests of the throne.'

Now this is great! In this one short description you've not only described Shaw in an exciting, interesting and fun-to-read way, but put him in the setting and introduced his personality.

Now the Reader knows what Shaw looks like, but also that his collar is hurting him(maggot wires/wormed darkly), he's laid-back and considers his high position secure while being willing to defend it with force(long claws flexed lazily) and that he uses deception and sudden overwhelming violence to get what he wants(crocodilian grin).

Now he sounds like a memorable character!

Hello again! Glad to see someone remember Cin Drallig exists! The poor Battlemaster could use some more content in the fandom :D Anyway what made you interesting in using him for your incorrect quotes and stuff and do you have any headcanons for him? Also will his Padawan Serra Keto from the old Revenge of the Sith video game be making any appearances in your work with Cin?

I LOVE CIN? HE’S JUST??? A CHARM??? ONE GRUFF, ANGY BOY FOR ME?? Cin easily makes my top 10 list of Jedi. Serra actually has shown up briefly in my Wolffepack Against Child Abuse Modern Star Wars AU in the second installment alongside Bene! 

ANYWAYS YOU ASK AND YOU SHALL RECEIVE HEADCANONS:

• Cin never got along with Qui-Gon Jinn, despite having an OK relationship with Dooku. The two of them clashed over a lot of things, and Cin specifically warned Yoda about Qui-Gon when he was pushing for Obi-wan to be his padawan. The two’s fights escalated to blows during and after Melida/Daan.

• Cin practically raised Kit, and as such, Kit looks up to him like an older brother-slash-father. Kit often comes to him still if he needs advice. Cin called him a clown when he came searching for courting advice.

• He also helped out with Bant and Nahdar when he could, and was the one who finished up Nahdar’s padawanship when Kit was called to the front lines.

• Despite the stories the Padawans tell the Initiates , though, Cin’s only strict and gruff when the kids have sabers in hand. Afterwards, he’s always willing to listen to their problems. Though he’s a bit shit at giving them good advice. It’s the thought that counts.

• Cin isn’t a master at all Saber Forms  in the same sense as those who master one form— such as Mace with Vaapad or Kit with Shii-Cho— but he is insanely dangerous since he can easily slip in and out of saber forms mid combat. Repeatedly.

• Not to say that he’s not a master in every form, because he is. but those who specialize in one form only take it a step up.

• Kit Fisto, Plo Koon, Agen Kolar, and Shaak Ti are his usual duel-mates, the five of them absolutely going feral when they’re out of sight of younglings and padawans because it gets dangerous. Cin throws lightsabers. It always freaks Kit out, though he should be used to it.

• Speaking of which, Cin’s a fantastic marksman and has a crazy throwing arm. Someone once asked him what kind of Saber Style it was and he just flatly responded “the Keeping Master Fisto Out Of Trouble” style.

• But yeah, the duels between Cin and any of those four get intense. Most duels between him and any of the masters get intense, though. It’s a good way to test one’s skills.

• He’s literally so indifferent to the nickname “the Troll” that the Order has given him, it’s hilarious. Some Initiate tried to use it as an insult to him and he basically just went “Okay, and?”

• Cin always carries more than one lightsaber on his body at one time. His usual, green one, two yellow shoto, and a blue saber-staff.

• He’s one of the best to go to if you have questions about lightsabers, since he works with them so much. He’s the one who builds all of the training ones, after all.

• He casually refers to the Temple Guards as his “kids”, which is why he’s friends with Plo. 

• During the Clone Wars the two would just go “how are your kids” “doing fine, and yours?” “Also well” 

• He also loves Bene and Serra as his own daughters , along with Whie as a son, as well, despite the boy not being his Padawan

• very much the type of dry-wit humor person. Deadpan snarker. It’s hard to tell if he’s joking if you don’t know him.

• He states that he’ll never get used to the strength of non-humans, as he’s been quite literally thrown by Shaak Ti, Eeth Koth, and Agen Kolar both in duels and on the few missions outside the Temple he’s done.

• Cin suggested that the clones should be trained in saber-work and offered to do it himself. It was put on the back burner, though the few times he’s not in the Temple and down in the Barracks, he’s offered to train the troopers there. Some, like the Commanders and a few ARCs took him up on the offer. And then realized the reason why some Jedi grimaced when his name was mentioned.

• Fives will forever say that ARC training was easier than Saber training with Cin. Battlemaster was a name well earned. Cin then told them the reason he was so hard on them was because he was cut for time, the Clones didn’t have years between leave to learn Saber Forms, so tuck your damn elbows in and adjust your feet, Hardcase.

• Surprising no one, the 104th and 91th troops picked it up faster than the others. Because of course the two would teach their men saberskills on the field. So Cin stepped up the difficulty level. It was fun— for him at least. 

• On that note, Cin suggests that maybe Wolffe should learn Vaapad from Mace and Shii-Cho from Kit when the war’s over. No risk of falling to the dark but he’d have all the unpredictability and speed from both forms.

• He considers the Coruscant Guard to be like his “nephews” in arms, since their job is similar to that of the Temple Guard— and he knows that when both groups can, the two Guard groups get to gether down at 79s for drinks and fun.

• Debated giving Fox and the CG shotos for protection, but eventually decided against it. (Which is a shame.)

• He’s very easy to fluster under that hard exerior and when he’s not teaching or fighting, something that— and here’s where my own personal ships come in and I apologize if this isn’t your cup of tea— Shaak Ti and Saesee Tiin take full advantage of. Shaak teases him relentlessly when she can. Calls him cute and just? He’s CG paint red. “I’m what” “You hard me” “hhhhhhhhh” 

• Saesee just. Picks him up from time to time? Easiest way to fluster him, just pick him up and he shuts up. Cin.exe has stopped working.

• A personal headcanon of mine that disregards canon, from what I know, is that the reason Cin couldn’t beat Vader was because he could quite literally feel the deaths of everyone in the Temple, and outside of it. With so many of his students, friends, and family dying, he was off kilter and easier to kill.

A Saga of Bears & Lions // ASoIaF fanfic PSA

First of all, don’t thank me, thank @templarhalo - after a near 15 years absence they have managed to drag me back into this fandom was I ever out of it? Maybe simply dormant...

Time for a little TL;DR to get you up to speed

I first read the then released books (AGOT, ACOK, ASOS) in 2002/2003, or there abouts. This is notable, as those are the years of the Lord of the Rings movies, and go some way to explain why a 14-year-old me found the attention span to read something like AsoIaF. Arya resonated with me. I created some content but by the end of it, I was upset because the Fav (TM) was dead and Arya was going down paths I didn’t like.

AFFC released (2005? 2006?) and I dragged my feet through it for a plot-twist and return-from-the-faux-dead that never came. I had and have a lot of feelings about how a man can be shot point blank with a crossbow and live, as I am sure you can imagine. By then, I had World of Warcraft Varian Wrynn and I dropped off the ASoIaF radar. Strike out and bold through went down, and much was lost.

Zip forward to 2018, where various friends have, over the past years and in no small thanks due to the series, attempted to rope me back in. I did watch the series, up to where Tywin kicks the bucket, and got bored after. I have opinions about the books vs the series. And the changes to Tywin’s character and appearance certainly aren’t the least of those opinions, even though I hardcore approve of Charles Dance playing him.

So, as of yesterday, I’ve collated some of my excessively old ideas and prose that survived the tooth of time & internet purity culture, and brushed over them a new paint job made of the wisdom of near two decades of (fan)fiction writing. I will likely hop around the timelines, but the primary story runs sync with the books, as some of you are now familliar with me doing for various franchises. The point of it, now and originally, was to see how the addition of one (1) original character would change (or not) established dynamics. Purely for the fun of it.

The original character in question is Loren Lannister of Lannisport, younger sister to Lord Brokken Lannister of Lannisport, better known as the ‘Bear of Lannisport’ for his successes at repelling Ironborn raids, though some would humorously say: for being the only Lannister in living memory to come out dark of hair, no doubt a result of their maternal grandfather, a cousin to Lady Maege Mormont. Cue title drop, here.

There’s more layers than an onion’s got to this entire spiel, I assure you, but the long and short of it is that I took very careful aim and threw her at Tywin Lannister faster than you can say Cerseisgonnafuckinghatethat. The result of that aside from children lmao is an enormous heap of inter- and intra-House warfare which I am desperately enjoying writing, and which I hope you will enjoy reading about as it turns new knots and twists into familliar, existing canon shenanigans!

I am pretty busy this month (Inktober, start of the academic year, the onset of autumn and me often getting sick around this time, etc), but with a little luck some content will soon trickle to you. I’ve made a tag page for it.

(In which an already large family gets even larger. Bruce has to talk about his feelings and Alfred has no qualms kneecapping people with an AA-12 if it keeps his grandchildren safe. )

i've been way too busy with school this term to write anything new, but here's another fluffy snippet from the collection of Elara-and-polycule centred stories i've been slowly plotting out

Are you ready, my love?” Lana asked, standing by the door to the captain’s quarters.

“Almost,” Elara said as she stepped out of the fresher. “How do I look?”

“Breathtaking.” Her hair had been curled loosely, and a crown of Chandrilan t’iil blossoms sat atop her head, tendrils intertwining with the strands of hair closest to her face. The dress she wore was light and shimmery, the same purple as the flowers. The soft off-the-shoulder neckline gave way to a gauzy, ethereally flowing skirt, and Lana found herself lost for words. Instead, she reached through the Force to convey her appreciation, eliciting a soft "oh" from her partner.

“Green suits you,” Elara replied, and Lana felt herself blush. Her own dress was a similar style to her soon-to-be wife’s, with the same neckline and airy layers of fabric, but long sleeves that came to a subtle puff at the wrists in a rich forest green.
