My piece for @bambeptin's Generator Rex art telephone: promises!

I did many things differently here from how I usually work (the lineless color styling and many texture gradients + layout), so this was a lot of fun! Thank you for organizing this art telephone, Bamboo! The piece before me by Bean @forestryfae was so impressive in my mind, I had to find a way to represent everything in that, as well as make my own take on it and the whole piece became a fun challenge.

The great thing about being a DM is that you can create a psuedo-telephone-network in your medieval-ish fantasy world using Sending Stones and a bit of homebrewery, and no one can stop you.

The downside is that, after you have done this, you still have to write the rest of your adventure because campaigns cannot survive on cool worldbuilding alone.

just learned the other day that minitels DO still work in france and i own one (its just been sitting here as decoration bc i thought it wasnt useable lol) and now i sooo wanna try it but my place doesnt have a landline outlet.. smh..

#97 #minitels were terminals connecting to an online network thru telephone lines and basically they were an early attempt at the world wide web #they were only really popular in france and failed in most other places or were never introduced #hence the need to give context lol #i believed the network no longer existed but as it turns out #they just took off the services/numbers you could connect to #but there are still people providing the services themselves its just no longer a big corporation #and ppl also have made it possible to connect them to the internet?? #sooo insane. i need to figure out how to get an outlet adapter

I keep thinking about the forest training camp raid, and how Aizawa used Izuku to deliver a message to Mandalay, who then used her telepathic powers to spread the word to the students. All 3 are in the same place right now, in a battle that is ALL about communication and deception. We also now have Mirio at UA, Jiro at Gunga and Shoji at Central Hospital, who are all known for their ability to be stealthy, listen well, and transmit messages. Meanwhile, Skeptic is in the ear of the villains; All Might is in the ear of the heroes — both were not part of the forest raid and their persuasiveness is unrelated to their quirks.

I’m fascinated that the “crystalline network linking people’s hearts” could boil down to the world’s highest stakes game of telephone.
