I made a thing!
Tumblr media
I have spent the past few weeks working rigorously on this project. As soon as I saw you could make a house in Tears of the Kingdom, I knew what I wanted to do.
I made one of every room, except for the Garden Pond(which I might make, I just had difficulty figuring out where I would even put it) and the Outdoor atairs(which I refuse to make, because making stairs sucks!)
Each section of the house is held on by magnets. They aren’t very strong, but they were cheap and hold it together well enough. I might replace them with slightly larger, stronger magnets in the future, though.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Here are the weapon rooms. Shield, sword, and bow rooms, in that order.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The kitchen and bedroom pieces.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The shrine and study rooms.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And the paddock and flower garden. I didn’t have any flowers, so I used flock. And the only flock that I had that wasn’t green was fall orange. Something to fix later. I also need to find some hay bales for the paddock.

Do share, Tarrey Town grudge?
@th3only-one also asked about this, so I shall share:
So be me, wandering around Hyrule as Link, ignoring most of the sidequests in the populated areas because I liked to stick to the woods and wild spots of Hyrule (and I was on a Mission to find all those shrines so by golly I was gonna). I'd just found Akkala, and as fall is my favorite season, I'd decided it was my new favorite region and was exploring like mad, enjoying the foliage and scenery (less so the powerful monsters but everything comes at a price).
So I'm wandering around this lake, looking for shrines, poking around for bugs and stuff, and I see there's this weird tall island thing in the middle of it, with what looks like a land bridge and everything. Sweet! There must be a shrine up there!
I slowly work my way around the lake, avoid getting killed by the guardian that's down there, swim across some water, realize there's a road up there I could've been following that maybe would've resulted in less near-death experiences, but I like to follow the lay of the land, and make it to the top.
And find no shrine :/
...but I DO find a goddess statue!
I was so puzzled at finding it, I spent a long while trying to figure out why there was this little desolate spot with a goddess statue just plunked among these rocks in this little pool. I wandered around a little more, found the great fairy nearby, and came to the COMPLETELY LOGICAL CONCLUSION, that obviously this is a little secret spot for travelers! There's no town anywhere in Akkala, so obviously this is supposed to be a place for travelers to stop and pray (and the developers put a fairy fountain there for player convenience).
I was so charmed by it. It became my favorite goddess statue to visit, I'd make detours there all the time so I could use up spirit orbs, and sometimes I'd just go there and chill for a while, and find flowers or listen to rain or whatever. It became my special little spot.
Eventually, I started cracking down on sidequests I'd been goofing off on, like giving Bolson all that wood, and other stuff like that. Hudson says he's going to start on a town somewhere in Akkala? Neat! That'll be interesting. I think nothing of it.
Until I go to visit my goddess statue spot, and find there is is a guy there. Hammering my rocks. With a mallet.
HUDSON IS BUILDING A TOWN. IN MY SECRET SPOT.
HE CAN'T DO THIS!!!
Despite how I try and get him to leave (I whacked him with all sorts of stuff, no dice), he stays. Maybe if I do what he wants he'll leave? Maybe he's just gathering materials here and will move somewhere else?
Nope.
Hudson does not leave. More people join him. Soon enough to my dismay there's a house in my spot, and another one, and people and animals and suddenly my spot is Tarrey Town. My beautiful, quiet spot in the wilderness is now nothing but a victim to the continuous march of urban sprawl.
...So yes, I have a mild grudge against Tarrey Town.

Rating how comfortable all the beds in botw look
PART ONE
Tumblr media
Quick side note - tysm for all the likes, I appreciate it very much. To put how I feel right now into words, I would say that I feel like a silly little court jester who has done a silly little dance and now people like me
Shrine Of Resurrection
Tumblr media
2/10 - would NOT recommend
◍All that fog in the beginning of the game is just condensation
◍looks like it's made for one specific height
◍ain't nobody over 5'3 fitting in there
◍no way that water isn't FREEZING cold after 100 years
◍how am I supposed to be the Hero Of Hyrule™ if I'm sleeping in cold water??
Uh oh hero of Hyrule caught a cold better tell ganon to take a week off terrorising everyone ig
◍at least the coldness would wake me up
Old Man's House
Tumblr media
1/10 - would NEVER recommend
◍Lumpy "mattress"
◍the blanket looks so thin that an A4 piece of paper would be more warm
◍At least rhoam tried
But tbh the tried and fell like a cartoon character slipping on a comically placed banana peel
Hateno Village Bed
Tumblr media
8/10 - would recommend
◍Looks like it would keep me warm on a cold rainy day
◍Sturdy and reliable bedframe
◍Cute and fresh bedsheets
Link's House Bed
Tumblr media
5/10 - would recommend but at your own risk
◍cozy looking
◍Does not smell the best
You gotta think about how many times link has gone to bed without taking a bath (if he even does) and if he takes his dirty and/or sweaty armour off when he goes to bed (which I don't think he does tbh)
◍Cute bedsheets
◍Again, sturdy and reliable bedframe
◍Link might kill you if he catches you tho
Purah's Bed
Tumblr media
7/10 -would recommend if you're small
◍Extra bouncy and fluffy bedsheets
◍tbh I really like the frilly edges
◍comfy as hell
◍Will have Purah asking you to leave tho
Goron City Bed
Tumblr media
2/10 - wouldn't recommend
◍this looks like it's the root cause of back problems
◍yk that goron that has u get his ibuprofen bc of his back?? This is why
◍Can't smell bad cause the only thing u would be able to smell is ur burning nose hair
Tarrey Town Bed
Tumblr media
7/10 - would recommend
◍Comfortable? Yes. Cozy? Not so much
I know that they're the same word but in my mind, there's a clear distinction between comfortable and cozy
◍cool and fresh bedsheets
◍bed would move if you did something tho, so not sturdy or reliable, it's literally just stacked planks of wood

PSA to anyone planning on building a house in Tarrey Town: Make sure to save manually BEFORE you confirm because... It really does not look good, no matter what you do. The exterior is flat and roofless, the rooms have no windows and the whole thing looks massive and blocky no matter what you do. The only nice thing I can say about it is the structures are grass green on the outside and thus marginally less offensive from a great distance. I want my 3,000~ish rupees back 😭

Bolson totk headcannon
i think the reason Bolson doesn’t remember Link is because they probably see each other every other day. Since the events of BOTW, Bolson (along with Hudson, Rhodson, and Karson) were probably connected closely with Zelda when she started the Hyrule restoration project.
seeing a co-worker/friend every day for indefinite periods of time wouldn’t warrant a big greeting. they both know what the situation is, and probably don’t have time for small talk. imagine seeing your close co-worker everyday and saying “oh i remember you!”. it just isn’t necessary. either way, love you Bolson. never stop slaying ❤️
edit: this still doesn’t explain why Bolson never said hi after Link’s disappearance in the upheaval. i think that’s just for game reasons tho

Snippets: Free Day Thursday
Fighting Writer's Block Prompt: Link gets adopted by Hudson and Rhondson but remains oblivious
Link liked Tarrey Town well enough. The brightly colored box houses were a little funny to him sometimes, reminding him of children's blocks, but he didn't judge. (Anything was better than the Shrine of Resurrection.)
He hummed quietly as he nudged Epona along the path into Tarrey Town. There were more flowers than the last time he'd been here. A smile tugged at his cheek as he suddenly recalled the woman at the Hila Rao shrine, and her fervent overprotection of her maze of blossoms.
A familiar face caught his eye, and he swung down from Epona's back. It took surprisingly little time to recover from the feeling of having been on horseback for too many hours. But then, he'd been accustomed to ignoring pain for the sake of duty since he was far, far too young.
Sometimes Link wished he hadn't recovered some of those memories.
Link buried thoughts of hard-faced kings forever comparing him to his late father and finding him lacking. Instead, he turned a light smile to the sturdy figure approaching.
"Heh," he called, waving.
"Link!" Hudson beamed and spread his burly arms wide. "I thought that was you! What brings you back so late? We were starting to worry about you, you know!"
Link rubbed the back of his head sheepishly. He supposed that was one downside of making friends all across the continent. It did take a while to visit everyone, even with the magic of teleportation.
"Sorry about that," he signed, "I've been down in the Plateau, helping Zelda."
Oops. Probably should've said "Princess". I don't think there's a lot of other Zeldas though...
Hudson smiled until his eyes almost vanished behind his cheeks. "Princess Zelda! Moving up in the world, you are! Come, come, you must join us for supper! Rhondson and I want to hear all about your travels!"
Well, far be it from Link to turn down free food.
In the little cul-de-sac that made up Tarrey Town, Rhondson and Grayson were the strongest, bar none. As they came up the path, Link spotted Rhondson carrying six cords of wood to the house as if they weighed no more than a bundle of twigs. Oh, Link would have loved to have that kind of physical strength. But he was a Hylian, not a Zora or a Gerudo or a Goron, and he had to make do with being a slightly scrawny seventeen year old.
One hundred and seventeen, technically, he reminded himself.
Rhondson set the wood down beside a saw horse and plane, then glanced up to see Link and her husband. She put her hands on her hips and laughed.
"Well look who it is!"
Moggs and Monari, their neighbors, peeked over from their front stoop, not recognizing Link. Hudson strolled over to the space between houses and said conversationally, "You remember our boy, Link? He's been helping the princess down in the valley!"
Rhondson raised her brows. "The princess? Sav'otta! She's a beloved sister and friend of Gerudo City, you should be very proud, Link!"
Link squirmed a little. "She's a good friend, I'm proud to know her," he agreed.
The little blush coloring the tips of his ears said more than his hands did.
"Oh, Link! Of course!"
The speed with which Monari agreed suggested that the elderly woman didn't actually remember Link. He wasn't offended.
"He's certainly gotten...tall!"
Link knew for a fact that he had not. The neighbor was definitely thinking of someone else.
Why do Hylians have to be this size? Why can't I be as tall as a Gerudo? Or Sidon!
Dinner was a lively affair, featuring local plants and fish, plus fruits Rhondson had brought from the desert. Link had offered to contribute his own supplies from his traveling, but Hudson had looked into his sack of hot-footed frogs and slightly mushy apples and politely declined.
Link didn't get why everybody had to judge his dietary habits. You ate what you could find! He wasn't picky like everyone else!
"Tch. Doesn't anyone eat in the Plateau?" Rhondson asked as she scooped another helping of fish and peppers onto both her own plate and Link's. "I know Hylians grow differently, but it can't be healthy for vevhi your age to be the same size as a twelve year old Gerudo! We need to build your muscles, Link."
Link puffed out his cheeks and rolled his eyes. "That's the same thing the Gorons tell me."
"Let the boy be," Hudson chided with a smile, "Hylian youngsters don't really hit that last growth spurt until twenty. He'll get there on his own time."
"Actually I'm 117," Link mused, "Does that mean I'm just always going to be this size?"
Hudson and Rhondson looked at each other and then chuckled.
"One hundred and seventeen! That's a good one, kiddo." Hudson elbowed him. "But no, you're not getting my grog."
Drat. He'd guessed exactly where Link was going with that.
I give up. I'm never going to get to try that stuff unless I make it on my own.
It would not occur to him until the following evening when he'd once again settled into the guest room that they insisted was his "whenever he wanted" that there was something kind of familiar about the way they were treating him.
He couldn't quite put his finger on it.
Oh well. If it was important, he'd probably remember it later.

Wish we could make tons of monster statues and have a bigger set. They’re so cool.

Best bois.

My first hovercraft. It worked ok.
(It ran out of power right next to the Korok’s friend, bounced down the cliff and landed upside-down in the hot spring)

Thanks, I know!
Footage of Link getting a photo of King Gleeok.
(Video description: Ulri Skyview Tower on the map is being selected as a destination. Cutting away from the map we see Link is frozen from a blast from one of King Gleeok’s three heads. Tulin asks if Link has to go somewhere, telling him to come back soon and that he’ll keep looking for Zelda. Link teleports away from the battle, still frozen.)
