📸 The Fairies: Photographic Evidence of the Existence of Another World by Suza Scalora
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
Suza Scalora takes up her camera and travels the world to capture photos of fairies after she is left a mysterious manuscript on their lives and habits.
A very quick read, but fun nonetheless. Each photograph gives life to the “Notes” section of the page that describes Scalora’s journey to get the photo. Lots of different areas and types of fairies, but my favorite one was Ariel.

Awakened Awareness
Nov 16, 2021
Dr. Lisa Miller's new book, The Awakened Brain;
The New Science of Spirituality and Our Quest for an Inspired Life, shares twenty years of clinical science and neuroscience of spiritual awareness as a path to mental health, augmented decision making and performance, and thriving. Awakened Awareness at Teachers College has been applied to some of the pressing challenges facing youth; isolation, struggles with ethics, addiction and depression, all of which can downward spiral into suicide (as the epidemic rate of death by suicide now rivals the rate of death by auto accident in high school students.)  At the Spirituality Mind Body Institute at TC, we work "upstream" of the epidemic of youth suffering, as we re-integrate spiritual development into whole person development.  Our method is to convene and train higher education and K-12 educational professionals in our Awakened initiatives.
  - Awakened Campus Summit: convening thousands of mental health providers, administrators, faculty and clergy for innovative solutions.      - Awakened Awareness for College Students: an 8-week spirit-mind-body intervention to ameliorate trauma and support personal spiritual growth.      - Awakened Schools Institute: provides professional development for K-12 educators who want to create transformative climates in their schools. Panel was moderated by TC faculty Lisa Miller and panelists included Suza Scalora (Ph.D. ’21), Micheline Anderson (Ph.D. ’21), Elisabeth Mistur, and Amy Chapman.

Grounding space
Today so far my biggest task has been that I created a meditation corner in what was originally the master bedroom of our house! We liked one of the smaller bedrooms better and have been sleeping there for probably over a year now, and the master bedroom has been used as a storage space and will eventually become an office for us as soon as well clear it out.
I laid down a folded up blanket on the floor and put candles nearby, with a large candle-free space in the middle for if I want to put down my computer and do a guided meditation or listen to calming music. Because I’m a fairly religious person, I have my Book of Common Prayer, my Bible, and my hymnal on one side. On the other side I have my dream journal, my personal journal, a pen, and a couple Suza Scalora photo books for inspiration. I also have the Badger Cheerful Mind Balm that a coworker gave me a few years ago, to end my sessions with a pleasant smell.  It’s nearby my indoor garden space, so before long there will be plants and green things around too.
The only thing I would change about it is, obviously, that it’s surrounded by clutter on all sides right now because it’s currently a storage room. So clearing out the clutter and materializing our dream of a shared office/workspace will be first on the list. Once we have more space and our own work areas, I think we’ll put our yoga mats and supplies in the center of the room so we can do yoga together in our calm space.

"....A phrase written by Tolle reverberated within Gordhamer: "Instead of asking, 'what do I want from life?' a more powerful question is, 'what does life want from me?' The answer for Gordhamer manifested in the form of a book: Wisdom 2.0...."
