I found your most recent video on Steven Universe and some of the things you said about the nature of fandoms struck a chord with me on a very persistent topic worth discussing. I'm not a SU fan, I tried to watch the show as an adult and I found other children shows far more entertaining. It needs to be said, there is something disturbing about adults who watched a show as children, infantilize themselves and revolve their entire identity over it. I've met 35-year-olds online with SU pfp's who cannot grasp real-world politics or engage with mature topics because their approach to real-world problems is based on a show they watched as kids. As soon as you discussed Utena and how fandoms remember a show it reminded me of how I cut myself from cartoon fandoms like ATLA and superhero comics. Instead of embracing the silliness and absurdity they hyperfixate on what they consider mature and edgy. I'm tired of how fans gush over what if their favorite show made for and targeted for kids was rated R or discussions about which characters committed war crimes with absolutely no understanding of international law. It's sadistic and perverted. They believe they are engaging in mature discussions or being taken seriously but, it's a 13-year-old's version of legitimacy on what they think mature is. It's a poor way to signal they are adults. It's why the only way the know how to handle criticism is by lashing out against anyone who says their show had problems. It's why you will see people discussing shows from 20 years ago as if they were god's gift to man and can't move on to something new. They are stuck. It's why titles of my favorite show was secretly not a "kid's show" are popular. They can't accept that it's targeted for kids and it doesn't revolve around them anymore. Like it's ok to like Pokemon it's targeted for children while being for all ages and it's great! But making it darker and edgier is taking something away from someone younger than you. Korra isn't better when it's darker and edgier while the main character is brutalized for the sake of character growth. It's fetishistic and disturbing. I wish more writers would learn about this and I'm glad that your videos point to these problems.

HII WISPYYY OKOK so i have the biggest fixation on Steven rn... that man has me on a chokehold

it's very self indulgent (i think......) but like... steven with an S/O who is deeply scared of fireworks ( and similar things )

♡ steven himself isn't one who really... likes loud noises, especially ones that come out of nowhere? it doesn't happen often, but sometimes there are fireworks set off around his home, either as a prank or just people celebrating near where he can hear, since, fireworks can be seen and heard pretty far. regardless, he's too tired nowadays to care about that, unless it becomes a constant issue. it does also startle miki though if she's out of her pokeball, which is a cause for concern and... anger. he's not going to track people down and kill them for it though, like he would've before, no matter how tempting it is if it frustrates miki.

♡ so, when you walked into his life having a lot worse issues with that than he did - which is something he realized after the 4th of july ( because that probably exists in pokemon, or something similar to it ) from the flurry of fireworks - he realized that anything like that happening even once wasn't acceptable for him anymore.

♡ along with your fear of balloons - whether it be the popping sound they make when destroyed, or some sort of trauma that they remind you of, or textural issue perhaps... however it becomes apparent, steven's making sure that the both of you avoid them. ( note to self; do not take you to an amusement park. )

♡ he even goes as far as to personally vet the stores or places you go to before taking you out just to make sure no balloons are present, or at least to know how to avoid them if they are.

♡ of course, the reason he even finds out about these fears of yours is likely due to firsthand experience. seeing you panic after a few fireworks go off nearby makes him also panic but much more internally - he's not sure if he should be holding someone or not during a panic attack... doing that all of a sudden would be bad, right? he know if someone did that to him in his worst states he either wouldn't react or would angrily push them off.

♡ so firstly, he tries to calm you down verbally... doing some breathing techniques that he probably picked up from daisy after losing miki and encouraging you to repeat the patterns, along with the 3-3-3 technique in order to ground you. he's not often been on the giving end of these techniques, people always offering to do these for him... but due to that, he's all too familiar with the feeling, and is 100% ready to help you out with it.

♡ then he promises he'll be back soon and seeks out things to help you out and give you comfort. something to block out the noise, closing windows ( not that he often has them open ), moving you somewhere where the fireworks were quieter, like his kitchen or something... and of course, he'd turn on his tv(s) and anything that would overpower the noise.

♡ he doesn't give himself anything to muffle the noise because your noises and voice comfort him... and he wouldn't want to muffle that. even though the fireworks still very much irritate him, but more in a slight annoyance way... at least, until now. he feels mad at any of these sounds more than usual due to the fact it puts you in this state, and you're more important to him than almost anything else. If he could physically brawl with a goddamn firework for you he would.

♡ once you're calmed down enough to talk and you give him permission, he hugs you. tight enough to remind you that he's there for you, but loose enough to give you wiggle room... he'll cuddle with you in his bedroom if you want, and just try to relax you enough to sleep, at least until the fireworks are over. he's like your personal assistant, ready to carry out any of your wants to make you feel better.

♡ comfort foods? he has you there, stocked up on plenty of them after the two of you started dating, since that mostly involves you coming over to his place... it was sort of the start of him deciding to take care of himself and be a little more active in life, even if it's just going out to get groceries from the pokemart and not much else. he'll offer you plushies if you want or have any, blankets, drinks, turning on specific shows, whatever you'd like. he'll even let you play with his hair or clothes or something if it calms you down... he likes how it feels too, and will similarly play with yours because that also calms him down.

♡ if any of this were to happen to you two outside, he'd just quickly lead you as far away as he could within reason and do the same things, at least to the best of his extent. likely, he'd just go home and continue there.

♡ he'll stay with you for as long as you need, give you space if you need it... anything you want. if you need space, he'll just be pacing around his home and doing everything he can to muffle outside noises while he waits.

♡ miki, of course, is also there to help you if you're comfortable enough with her doing so. she's a good distractor, actually? she also gets startled and disgruntled by the noises, so she can relate... she allows you to pet her and will sometimes nuzzle your nose with her snout for comfort, emitting glitchy purrs. How can a dragon purr? fuck if i know but by god i know miki can and will. she's just a big powerful cat in a dragon body.

♡ once the fireworks calm down or stop completely, he checks in on you, continuing to comfort you if you're still even awake by then. he holds you by your waist close to him, giving you a gentle little squeeze, along with a few chaste kisses if you allow it. he's happy that his partner is doing much better now, and he almost feels validated that he's the one who did that...? maybe that's selfish. he didn't know.

♡ after that experience, he's sure to keep the noise muffling measures up to stuff, constantly checking them to make sure they're still properly in place. he becomes a little more overprotective, but he always is overprotective with you... he doesn't want to lose you or scare you.

♡ he continues to practice breathing exercises even when you aren't panicking so that you can remember them precisely if he isn't there. he never intends to not be there for you, but... in the worst-case scenario.

♡ he also encourages you to talk about these things to him, so he can prepare in advance for anything similar - which is likely why he knows about the balloons thing. if you somehow didn't realize by now, he's... really just a big worrywart at heart, no matter how he comes off otherwise.

♡ if the fireworks become far too constant for their own good, steven himself will make it a damn mission to locate whoever's setting them off and tell them to do it precisely like, way further away. his demeanor is pretty scary to everyone else, and that's when he's not even trying to be - so he's pretty good at convincing people, even without many words.

♡ thankfully, pallet town is decently far from any big city in kanto where fireworks mainly take place, especially on steven's side of pallet town - the forest itself gives a good bit of muffling, too. which, always makes it more strange when fireworks occur nearby, but he just chalks it up to the locals buying illegal fireworks for their kids to set off. how irresponsible...

♡ ( what he didn't know is they also sometimes do that when red or blue occasionally take visits back to pallet, since the locals get so excited over them... )

♡ regardless, you're taken care for and he's not going to let you panic unprepared anymore. you've got a keeper!!!! ( i wrote way too much for this apologies oopsy )

okay, so red actually exists since the first old game (red blue green), but his design was a little different. (he had black hair, and his outfit was slightly different)

but that game got a remaster later and it was called fire red/leaf green! and his redesign included him having brown hair and that's his most iconic design in the modern time! keep in mind that this red only exists in video games and sometimes anime but it's more ash centric (I only ship with the VIDEO GAME one)

now skip to several games, in the game called sun and moon, red reappears but he's a fully grown adult! and that's MY HUSBAND GRAAGHHFT 💥💥💥 he's not a playable character but he's someone you can battle!

what inspired me to like him is a long story, and I don't wanna make it suuuper lengthy because it mentions another media and ANOTHER media so it can get confusing - but to keep it short! I never knew he had an adult design so when I checked for myself... I was INSTANTLY IN LOVE i thought he was SO CUTE and i loved the way fanon treats him in fanarts and I ate it ALL. but for a short time I put him aside because I also fell for steven st.one at the time and he had more content than red (red is underrated sadly) but when my classmate offered me to play sun and moon with his 3ds, I was floored and excited and knew I was gonna get super giddy n shit and it kinda dragged me into the red mindset again and here we are EHEHEHEJEJEKE

Cue to at the end of their visit, she visits the gift shop and then gifts Steven a Luvdisc plushie she bought for him. He silently takes it while his other hand is on his pocket, closed tightly around a Luvdisc keychain he got her but can't really bring himself to give it to her 😔💥

Stonewalling (AKA “I’m Not Romancing the Stone!”) [OC X Canon Pokemon story]

Note: Still fleshing out this character but I wrote this to give myself some quick serotonin.

Summary: Alanis’s dad is business partners with Devon Corporation CEO Joseph Stone. When the pair arrange for Joseph’s son and Alanis to get married, despite having never met, Alanis goes to meet her new fiancé and “celebrate” the engagement, fully intent on ending things. Turns out, Steven Stone also has something he wants to say.

Alanis checked her phone again. She sighed. Why am I doing this…? She felt ridiculous…exposed, even, sitting alone in that booth in Lilycove City’s most elite restaurant.

“Dad, I thought we discussed this already,” Alanis began, “I’m not looking to get married right now.”

“He’s Joseph Stone’s son, Lani; not to mention a League Champion,” her father Lyle replied, “Joe wants his son to have some stability, and I want you to have some security.”

“I have security,” she retorted, “I have my own life, dad! A career I love, friends who care about me, children who need me…”

“I know you love your job. I’m not asking you to change. But think about it—Waywood Enterprises being connected to Devon Corporation by the marriage of their heirs would be beneficial to all of us.”

Alanis grunted in annoyance. She thought with the end of the caste system these sorts of marriages had long since died out.

“I’ve never even met Steven Stone! The two of you can’t just immediately decide we’re engaged!”

“The wheels are already in motion, my darling! Which is why on Saturday night, the two of you will finally meet in person to celebrate the engagement. Steven has already agreed to meet you.”

“But—“

“Alanis.” Lyle’s eyes softened for just a bit, catching her off-guard. “…at the very least, meet him. If you end up absolutely detesting him, then we can discuss further. Can you promise me you’ll meet him? You might like him.”

He was already late. Steven Stone was known as a globetrotter—a talented trainer, a collector of rare stones, and—

“—an absolute dreamboat,” one of her fellow teachers gushed to her in the teachers’ lounge, “Women want him, some men want him, most men want to be him…you’re so lucky, Lani!”

“Then you can have him.”

“Oh, come on. At least give it a shot. From what it sounds like your dad just wants you to have the best possible partner. And who better than Steven Stone? …well, maybe Wallace. Maybe.”

“I think Wallace might be gay,” Alanis muttered as she pulled her students’ egg-carton bean sprouts out from the windowsill, “or bi. Or maybe pan?”

“That’s not my point.”

“Lay off, Molly,” a male teacher leaned over from his desk, “It’s clear Miss Waywood’s not exactly over the moon about this, and you aren’t helping.”

“Thank you, Elliott—“ Alanis started.

“So are we invited to the wedding?”

“Hey!”

“Kidding! Kidding.”

“Think about it, though,” a third, female teacher looked over, “The guy spends all his time traveling. A rich husband who’s never home? It’ll be like you’re still single, and you’ll just have a bit more money.”

“That doesn’t help either…”

“I’m just being practical. If you’re gonna be in a loveless marriage, might as well take advantage of the perks. Figure as long as you two get along you’ll manage. Lots of arranged marriages work like that, from what I understand.”

In the end, here she was, alone in a booth, dressed up for a formal date (or maybe a school dance), staring at the menu in front of her. A waiter came by to refill her water.

Did he stand her up?

It was high school all over again…

“Excuse me.”

She snapped her head up in surprise, brought out of her anxious thoughts as her earthy browns met his steely blues. Steven Stone had finally arrived. He had a hand slightly raised, seeming to take a breath as he finally extended it to her.

“You’re…Alanis Waywood, right?”

“I am.” Alanis accepted his hand, as he gave it a firm but gentle shake.

“I’m Steven Stone,” he introduced himself, despite someone like him needing no such thing, “I’m so sorry for being late; I got held up with something at home and lost track of time…”

“It’s fine, really. I understand.”

Steven sat down across from her, speaking briefly to the server who approached and simply asking for water as he scanned the menu.

“I haven’t been here in several years,” he admitted, “The menu’s changed a lot.”

“I only came here once before,” she replied, “High school graduation.”

“It’s a nice place, but not my favorite,” he remarked.

The silence that fell between them was almost louder than the noise of the restaurant around them. Alanis gripped the fabric in her lap. Steven didn’t look at her, closing his eyes and sighing.

“Listen—“ they both began.

“I’m breaking off the engagement.”

Both froze in surprise. Steven straightened up to look at her, mouth slightly hung open. Alanis put her hand to her mouth.

“You too?” He asked. She nodded. His shoulders dropped, and he let out a sigh of relief as he relaxed a bit. “That…takes a lot off my shoulders.”

Alanis couldn’t help but giggle a bit at this. “I take it this was sprung on you suddenly as well? How far back?”

“I’d say about four months. I guess it didn’t really settle in until dad told me about us finally meeting. He’d given me your photo before and I’ve heard a bit about you, but I figured it was just his usual attempt to get me to settle down.”

“My dad always seemed to hint at it…I didn’t take it seriously until he told me the engagement was official. Geez, marrying me off to another CEO’s son…”

“Seriously…we’re not in the age of marriage to unite adjacent fiefs, right?”

“I was going to say the age of the caste system.”

“That too.” He pointed at her with a chuckle. “So, us ‘breaking up’ won’t exactly start a war. I’ll be honest, I’m really not comfortable marrying someone I hadn’t met until now.”

“Same.”

“Besides, with all the traveling I do….”

“And I have school to worry about…”

“Oh, that’s right—you’re a schoolteacher, aren’t you? What age?”

“Elementary school, right now. I’m looking to eventually move up to middle school. My students are mostly nine-ten years old.”

“What subject?”

“Earth science.”

“Really?” His eyes lit up a bit.

“Yes, including basic geology,” she added with a smile. “We start that unit next week. I just finished my geode display.”

“Do you….”

She nodded, picking up her phone and going to her photos, passing it to him to show him the display. Steven examined each stone in the photo, his smile widening.

“Very nice,” he remarked, “Looks clear and concise, to me.”

“Thank you.”

“Is that…a Kecleon foot, in the corner of the frame?”

“Oh…that. Yes, that’s my Kecleon. He was looking for a rock I had removed from the display and hid.”

“Why’d you hide it?”

“He thinks it looks like a loaf of bread. That’s his favorite thing to eat. Come to think of it…” she dug into her purse and pulled out the sandy-colored geode. “…this is where I hid it.” She turned it over to reveal the teal-colored crystal formation inside. She couldn’t hand it to Steven fast enough. He flipped it over to examine the exterior.

“…huh!” He began, “it does look like ciabatta bread.”

“Not you, too,” she giggled.

“Hey, credit where it’s due. Your Kecleon does have a point.” He turned it to examine the interior, then paused, sighing and laughing sheepishly. “I’m sorry. This is supposed to be a social interaction and here I am fixating on rocks, as usual.”

“It’s okay. This is our break-up dinner, after all.”

“When you’re right, you’re right. But still, you better take this back.” He returned the geode to her as he saw the server returning, “Because the actual bread is here. Hopefully you didn’t smuggle your little friend in here.”

“He’s in his ball, no worries. I’ll save a little loaf for him if we have some left.”

As they put in their orders and began to eat the bread, a question finally emerged from Alanis.

“Why do you like rocks so much? Do you know?”

Steven seemed to think about it for a moment. “You know, I’ve been asked that more than once in my life…and I’m not sure. My dad likes them, I like them…my mom liked them to an extent….” He shrugged. “Maybe it’s genetic.”

“There’s nothing wrong with that. Lots of people have things they like and no explanation. And maybe, sometimes, you’re better off without a firm answer.”

“That’s actually kind of artistic. I like it.”

“Thank you. Are there any particular stones you’re after, right now?”

“Not to own, but to see.” He nodded. “I’m heading to Unova Tuesday morning. I’m visiting the Rateren* Nation reservation to head into their ancestral grounds and see some of the rock formations there. They don’t allow many people outside of museums to take samples from there, so I just want to get some personal photos.”

“That’s exciting! If you don’t mind…would you send the photos to me so I can show my class when we get to the unit?”

“I’d be happy to. Mind giving me your email?” He passed his phone to her after opening his contacts. She entered her contact information and passed it back. “Well, I may not be engaged anymore, but at least I’ve made a new friend.”

“Agreed.”

The rest of the evening passed without incident, the two talking casually over a meal—discussing Steven’s latest travels, and learning more about the students in Alanis’ classes. It all came so naturally, it was a bit of a disappointment when it was finally time to pay and leave. As the two stepped out into the cool night air, the moon shining on the sea, Alanis sighed.

“Well…I guess this is goodnight.”

“Do you have a ride home?”

“Yes, I’ll be fine.”

There was a silence between them.

“…I enjoyed tonight,” he finally spoke. “It was nice to meet you.”

“It was nice to meet you, too. Even if it was technically a break-up.”

“Yeah.” He put his hands in his pockets and offered a smile. “Have a good night, Alanis.”

“Lani. My…friends call me Lani.”

His smile got bigger. “Lani, then. Get home safe.”

A few days later…

“Morning!” Alanis called out as she stepped into the faculty office, her Kecleon hanging off the strap of her bag.

“Morning, Lani,” Molly leaned over from her desk, “You got a package in your cubby.”

“Hm?” Alanis went to the cubbies where faculty mail was kept, finding a small parcel there. “I didn’t have anything sent to the school…” Going to her desk, she retrieved her scissors and carefully cut the string off the package, unfolding the paper around it and blinking at the box inside. Taking a seat, she slowly opened it…revealing a blackened stone lump. A folded piece of paper was underneath. She unfolded it to read the message inside.

I was debating on whether or not I should ask about this via messages or ask, but decided to go with asks cause why not.

I feel like I've asked something super similar to this in the past, but how do you handle the villains of the series in your cactuverse? Cause I've actually been having some difficulties with how I want to share them in the legendverse. Guzma and Ghetsis are fairly easy for me to know what to do with them, but others are difficult, especially in relation to my ocs. Cyrus seems the most difficult for me. He caused Danica a lot of trauma, despite her chill demeanor. She literally had to defeat him at a young age with little to no help outside of her friends, Looker( kinda) and Cynthia ( kinda. Still working on that part). Oh and Rowan, but he's the grandpa moral support. But she still did a lot of the work, you know? She was still the one that got dragged into that mess.

My main difficulty is trying that balance of " this man is literally evil" and " he can learn to be better if he legitimately tries" and that's so confusing with someone like Cyrus. He got the implied sad backstory that makes me go " ah. He needs therapy" but that doesn't excuse for what he did. Sorry if I'm talking in circles here( and for that rant) just. Cyrus. Villains. Author problems? Yeah.

Hi, there @ihopethisendswell! Ah yes, author problems! How do we handle the villains of Pokemon? You've asked me about how I felt about the villains in general which more or less goes to I really don't care for most of the villain teams. As I've mentioned before Cactusverse tends to be rather painfully accurate to the game canon for the various main series game events. Now what happens after the credit rolls varies between the villains/antagonists I'll start with Legends Arceus. Even though Kamado still retains his position as commander there is a quite noticeable dip in faith in his leadership after what he pulls on Rei (cactusverse legends protag). Over time as Jubilife Village continues to grow Kamado will eventually step down handing the reins to Cyllene and it's Rei who becomes the captain of the survey corps in his adult years. Now with Volo, there's a bit more of an emotional pull. The one thing I do change in canon for Legends is that Rei is not an isekai'd protagonist. Rather he's someone from that time period who happens to be of the Celestica people much like Cogita and Volo. So the betrayal and everything hits a lot different since there are just so few Celestica people left in Hisui at the time. I'm admittedly still ironing out the details for cactusverse!Hisui so I don't have much more to say here. Now for Team Rocket. After the events in Johto the Rocket admins all get arrested by the G-men (with the charge mainly led by Silver and Yellow with Lance in the background now that he's no longer champion after being dethroned by Ethan). Giovanni of course makes his escape as he does appear in BW2 over a decade later only to get Hyperbeamed by Lance on-sight (sorry Giovanni, Lance is Silver's new dad), and Looker arrests Giovanni. I do include the Let's Go Kanto Trio in cactusverse but I give them their own unique villain plot with the Team Rocket Trio since they are the last remaining members of Team Rocket who eventually realize they're better at being good than being bad and so they officially disband Team Rocket in Kanto. Then there's Team Aqua and Team Magma. Hoenn is one of the regions where there's some heavy meshing of canons. The climax of the plot ends up like Emerald where they both summon their respective legendaries and shit hits the fan. But this is more or less ORAS Hoenn so they have their ORAS designs and Megas and Zinnia are involved. Steven is still champion here but I do include him and May tag-teaming in the main game like Emerald because that was the coolest thing ever to me as a kid (and I had the biggest crush on Steven and at some point, I need to gush about him because he's still bae). Since Maxie and Archie are more misguided than anything they do get rehabilitated over time, with Zinnia and Wallace (who becomes champion after May decides to not be a standing champion) who help them get better.

Alright so for Team Galactic. Cactusverse follows Platinum for its events. Cyrus stays in the distortion world and dies. It's only after Dawn and Cynthia hear the story of him in Sunyshore that they realize he was more misguided but by the time they try to rescue him it's too late. The admins are arrested through a combination of Looker and the aura guardians of Sinnoh (mobilized by Riley). For Team Plasma well Neo Team Plasma largely gets arrested over time through the combined efforts of Good Team Plasma, the G-men, the international police, and the Village of Dragons (who contain the few remaining full-fledged aura guardians in Unova). Ghetsis and the Shadow Triad die in the Giant Chasm though. For Team Flare, Lysandre dies. Xerosic and Malva go to jail after the Emma events. For Alola, I've mentioned this before but I do mix up a bit of SM and USUM. The SM part is Lusamine being evil AF to her children. Lusamine also dies here but right now I'm torn if Marsha and Lillie bring her back to their world and she succumbs to the poisoning there OR if Lillie and Marsha decide to leave her in Ultra Space. Last but not least is Galar...chairman Rose goes to jail and because he is genuinely remorseful he doesn't take the lighter punishment given (because of his wealth as the courts in Galar are rather corrupt) and serves his entire sentence. The Royal Twins get off easy mainly because of their royal connections.

So that's pretty much how I handle cactusverse villains. I'll be down to talk more about legendsverse in DMs if you want to throw some ideas around!

I WILL GLADLY INFO-DUMP WHAT I GOT SO FAR ABOUT KRIS!!

so it was an quiet and peculiar little kid growing up, always staying away from other kids, and always being in her little world. but during her childhood, it had an obsession with poison type pokemon. she wanted to know more about them, and will go to dangerous lengths for an pursuit of knowledge about them. and even after getting into an incident where it was almost killed by one, it only furthered her obsession! it has gone to an point where it had to be sheltered for most of her childhood, because it was constantly getting herself hurt, lost, and alone while in pursuit of such knowledge.

but, there are times where she is allowed to go outside, and one of those times, she met mike and steven when these two were young. and these two instantly clicked with it, and it wasn’t long before they become friends! and when she couldn’t go outside most of the time. it would find ways to sneak out and hang out with the two!

as kris grew up and she was able to get outside privileges, it was able to socialize more with the outside world after being sheltered for so long, she made some new friends but she also was able to visit mike and steven as she pleases! she was still the very weird and quiet girl it was when she was an child. but it was able to finally be outside and talking to other people after years in isolation. (also fun fact: kris panicked an bit when the two asked her out after being their friend for so long, because it didn’t know how to respond to that but she accepted anyway lol)

and it was soon able to become an pokemon trainer! of course she became one with steven and mike because it couldn’t do it herself (it’s.. not that independent lol..) it’s starter was an bulbasaur, and she named it juice, because it was the word it saw when she was looking around for something to name her. and it was ecstatic to have the lil bulby!

and so, she did the usual pokemon trainer stuff. training it to become stranger, battling with it, and making new additions to the team. and during the journey, it basically became steven and mike’s supportive and caring girlfriend, constantly cheering them on, and giving them encouragement, and giving them kissies as an reward!! but also would care for them, and be there for them, when they were at an low. and soon, one of them would be.

after Steven’s charizard, miki, died. she tried it’s best to support him and give him an shoulder to cry on, and would always tried to make him better in anyway she can. and one of those, was an picnic it set up for her and Steven. it was in an nice spot, and it wanted Steven’s worries and grief to wash away, for an moment.

but then tragedy struck and, it ended in kris murdered, and Steven heartbroken.

and her death made Steven’s situation much worse, trying to prove it wasn’t him and all, and grief didn’t help at all. but when one night, after Steven ended his brother’s life. he went to it’s grave, and digs her up to the surface with his bare hands and he was able to take it’s body out of the coffin. and in an desperate attempt, he used missingno. to revive her and miraculously.. it was alive. and as she was questioning things, it’s wounds from that day reopened and blood instantly gushed out and she experienced hellish pain. but Steven was able to take care of that, and took reanimated kris home with him. and that’s where it resides now, sheltered in his house. she’s constantly taken care of by steven since missingno. and death did fuck it up her body. but even so, it still has sweet moments with steven, and she still loves him to bits. but one question hasn’t left her mind, where is mike?

Modern day pokemon tiktok/YouTube. Ooo I have a couple of ideas, I feel like Steven would have a quick 5 minute educational channel. Teaching people about different evolution stones, star pieces, and the like. Then on Tiktok he gushes about his Pokémon and how to properly care for them. Like cleaning off rust and dirt.

Cynthia would absolutely have a history channel on YouTube, while having tiktoks of her training and her favorite places to get snacks, like a local ice cream parlor for example. There’s been a few times where her Togekiss has photo bombed her.

I adore the idea of Leon streaming Minecraft! (fun fact! His anime va streams on Twitch! I watch his streams sometimes. His name is CyYu, if people would like the name, tiktok account is the same name.) Sometimes Leon brings Hop and his friends into a co-op server they have. In the background of his camera you’ll see his Pokémon come on and off screen. Usually Dragapult is the main offender, due to his dreepy’s. They like to cuddle with Leon when he games.

Piers I think, would show off small samples of his to be released songs on his tiktok. While also recording Marnie’s progress as a gym leader. Sometimes he’ll show off his guitar and teach people about the hand positions and what note goes with it.

OH!! Fantastic idea that my brain came up with. Diantha has a behind the scenes of her plays and movies tiktok. Sometimes you’ll see Brycen with her, excitedly talking about how their play together went. She’d also do photoshoots of not only herself but also close friends and their pokemon. Sometimes fans, when she’s in the mood.

Red would have a tiktok that’s exclusively about his Pokémon. Sometimes, just to be sneaky, he’ll say something in one of the videos. He mostly records his Pikachu playing with his other Pokémon, or when it’s being silly. Feeding time with his Pokémon are a big hit on tiktok.

Blue, on the the other hand. Would talk about his day and all the battles he had. Red shows up in a decent amount of them. Jshdhd Blue would talk about how he won against Red in a training battle when Red goes “You lost. Horribly.” And the video cuts off with Blue Turing around yelling “HEY-”.

Last but not least Lance. He strikes me as a teaches about dragon type Pokémon kinda guy. He shows spots in Kanto and Johto where you can find some in the wild (he shows them in person in the videos). He also shows off calming spots around the two regions where it’s a nice spot to rest and relax.

Pokemon is still one of my favorite game series. My favorite region is the Hoenn region so I like Pokemon Sapphire/Ruby the most of all the games. My absolute favorite character is Steven Stone. I also like May. But for my favorite pokemon, I like Espurr. I even have an Espurr plushie.

Also, because I like the Hoenn region, I like Kabu from Pokemon Sword and Shield.

Fandom vent/hot take.

The Owl House is probably one of the worst fandoms when it comes to spoilers.

I've been in PLENTY fandoms over the ages such as Pokemon, Undertale/Deltarune, Steven Universe, The Owl House, OK K.O., and Psychonauts.

They usually had a rule when it came to spoilers. The same day a Pokemon game came out, people would live play and you could usually avoid spoilers that didn't come from Nintendo until about a month later (Sw/Sh changed that but Sw/Sh was one of the most controversial Pokemon games). Steven Universe (as toxic as the fandom was) usually had spaces in their fandom where they gave a timelimit from episode to episode about spoilers until people could catch up. Undertale (until it got big and toxic) was very much for saying: "Play the game yourself," or "How far are you?" before getting attention from new fans of the game. OK K.O. was small, but reactors were (usually) able to say: "no spoilers please!" and (most) people understood (sorry Blue Order). Psychonauts 2 seems great for the people playing the game and not spoiling the true story of it.

The Owl House? You don't get a day before fanart and gushes and videos with fans scream-cheering about what happened and videos and theories come out VERY quickly.

As someone who is currently in college, I don't have time to dedicate when I'm able to see it unless my Schedule is VERY forgiving. Not to mention that the only TVs available are used in the common rooms or by people who could afford it. I don't have enough money to get my own. So as a person who loves TOH but hates spoilers it's SUCH A NIGHTMARE to go online and see it show up on my dash or YouTube feed (even if I've been avoiding TOH videos).

I just needed to get this out. This is a vent piece. Maybe the majority of people are able to watch it and gush with their friends and maybe I'm just a whiny brat.

Around the age of 4, Jasmine and her father were staying with distant relatives in Sootopolis for a spell, their first time spent on land following their departure from Alto-Mare. While residing in Hoenn for that brief time, Jasmine actually came in contact with a young Steven Stone, who also seemed to be visiting with people in the city. The two ended up playing just outside the Cave of Origin, before being scolded by the people who stand guard; neither seem to remember that chance encounter, however.

When she was 8, Jasmine stayed on Sunyshore with her father, who'd taken up some odd jobs around the town to make money before they set off again. It was then that she first met Volkner, a shy, precocious boy; instantly, she wanted to be his friend, and would often seek him out when left to roam town. Sadly, her time in Sunyshore then was not long: they were on the sea before she knew it.

The following summer, Jasmine and her father docked at Seafolk Village, for what would be the first summer of Jasmine's Pokemon training. She remembers it fondly: the wealth of cultures found there in the village, the long days of battling with her dad in the canyons of Poni Island, and the captivating nights, with skies so clear no star was left hidden. She recalls it being the best summer of her life.

Spending several years in and around Galar, Jasmine became enthralled with their style of music (and style in general!). Being only a preteen, she had endless boy bands to gush over, what with the nation being a happening spot for the entertainment industry. The ship became COVERED in posters and magazine cut-outs for a moment in time.

She was 16 when she settled with her maternal grandparents in Olivine, as her father had been enlisted in a war far beyond the borders of Johto. She recalls the day of his departure quite clearly: the stillness in the air, the clouds hanging overhead. Him leaving with a short goodbye, her unable to call out from the door-frame as he disappeared into the early morning fog. The memory haunts her; it feels, almost, as if it has never ended.

I can’t sleep so I’m just thinkin’ about my range of Pokémon romantic F/Os. This series has meant so much to me for so long, and I know F/Os from that source make up a decent portion of my list. I’d feel more embarrassed about it if I didn’t make it abundantly clear that Pokémon is one of the most pervasive influences in my life from an exceedingly young age.

I just. I dunno. I find my collection of Pokémon series F/Os so interesting.

I’m just gonna ramble a bit.

I’m going to talk in Generational order, because my 1am brain couldn’t decipher a more cohesive timeline if it tried.

Giovanni is a funny one. As a kid, his character in the show intimidated me a little. But I really loved Team Rocket on some level. They were my first Pokémon villain organization, and with the Gen III games having Aqua and Magma, I decided pretty early that Team Rocket was my team. I had a stint in Magma since when I was young, I thought I’d specialize in Fire types, but eh it didn’t stick. No team really stuck nearly as much until Team Skull! So I had a lot of time for my intimidation from Giovanni to evolve into a fearful respect, to a mild devotion… by the time I played Let’s Go! and Ultra Moon, I was more than a little excited to see him in game. As in, I would quietly cheer when he appeared on my screen, in some weird giddy manner. It was only a matter of time before I realized I was crushing hard.

Steven Stone (he has a full name so more often than not I use it when referring to him) probably didn’t make the biggest impact on me in the original Gen III games? Hoenn was my favorite region for a while (in part due to pre- “Hoenn confirmed” hype), but he didn’t have a huge role in Ruby/Sapphire. Maybe I noticed him first in Emerald? I wish I could remember my real first inkling of crush on him, because I just remember when I played Omega Ruby… I was already obsessed with him. He showed up for the first time in game and I squealed. I spent the whole game seeking him out and already making romantic passes at him in my around-19-year-old head.

I am counting Grovyle for this, but it bears repeating that my S/I for the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon games is a Pokémon too. Those Mystery Dungeon games enamored me as a teen! I got to BE! A POKEMON!! So I probably got Explorers of Time/Darkness for DS not long after it released in 2008. I was so excited to have Gen IV Pokémon to be and battle and recruit, ugh, this game meant so much to me. I will always remember being part of Wigglytuff’s Guild super fondly. And like, as I am super susceptible to mental role play, putting myself in my characters shoes (or lil toe beans I guess) has always been second nature for me. So a dashing Grovyle just jumped into my silly life and was the most honorable and misunderstood character and I am not even joking when I say I fell for him in my first playthrough. And I’ve played through it a lot. I was always jealous of Celebi. I hate every Dusknoir I see to this day. *chefs kiss* Good game.

Gen V is “oops all F/Os” Gen, where to even start..

Just kidding, N is the obvious choice to start for me. He was love at first sight. He just, ugh, he cares about Pokémon SO MUCH. I literally don’t know how to even expand on this. He literally rode the Ferris Wheel with the player character in the game, and I WASNT supposed to interpret that as a date? Wack. It was a date. I love him so damn much. Next question

Elesa comes next because I’ve always thought she was stunning. I mean, duh I guess, she’s canonically a model. Also, Electric types are in my top 3, behind Fairy and somewhat tied with Fire, so she was a woman after my own heart. Her Emolga kinda wrecked my team and I respect that. Also, she loves puns. So again. Woman after my own heart. The only reason she’s still listed as Crush and not as Dating is because she intimidates me. She’s out of my league and I worry she’d only see me as a friend. Well, not “only”, her and Skyla are bffs and that also looks fun. I just. Can’t imagine her romantically being interested in me sometimes. Heh.

Grimsley was a crush that came on yeeeaaaars after his Gen, and it hit me like a freight train. I swear, he made very little impression on me in B/W, because I was young and I was just excited to possibly see N again as champion. I was a little shit, okay. I also never played B2/W2 all the way through, which is a huge stain on my Pokémon record. Anyways. When he showed up in Sun/Moon, I gasped. I was like, that’s a familiar face. Why is he hot now? (The answer is we was always hot, and I just had a few years to grow between games). But like, I kind of tamped it back down? I think I legit tried to tell myself around Sun/Moon era that I can’t keep finding Pokémon characters hot, because I was drooling over another one in Moon. Anywho. Grimsley kept popping up as fanart on my Tumblr dash for a while and by the time I pulled him in Pokémon Masters, I slipped into love. Whoops.

Professor Sycamore, probably not my proudest moment of fandom. He was another one I liked from the very introduction. I made fun of him in equal measure, but I affectionately referred to him as “Professor Hotdad” for an embarrassingly long amount of time. He’s not even the oldest of my Pokémon F/Os. One of my other Pokémon F/Os is canonically a father. But nope. Sycamore was Hotdad. That all said, he did make me smile like a crush-stricken schoolgirl when he talked in game so it wasn’t all just memey objectification. I do love him dearly.

Gen VII! Alola! Guzma! Oh man, like I’d stated earlier, Team Skull really nestled it’s way close to my heart the way no team had since Team Rocket. It wasn’t all because of Guzma, I really did like the group of ragtag misfits banding together and creating a family. Guzma was icing on the cake. Oh boy, he made my heart do funny little flips even when he was threatening me in game. I loved his design, I loved his character, the way he talked, I just. Ugh, I was down bad for ya boy in Moon and Ultra Moon. He’s actually the inspiration behind my main blog url: its-ya-boi-remington. The “Y’all are stupid!” line and face lives in my head rent free at all times. Guzma protection squad.

Leon was, believe it or not, my actual first Gen VIII crush. I saw that fashion disaster and felt a warm comfort from him. It didn’t help that I mentally read every character in Galar with some UK/British Isles accent, that sweetened the deal. I was actually gushing to a couple then-friends about Leon while we all played Sword/Shield together and they kind of mocked me about it. They chided me that Leon “doesn’t bat for my team” and said either of them would have a better chance with him if he were real. So I was a little downtrodden about Leon after that for quite a while. It wasn’t until a couple months ago when suddenly it hit me that A- He’s literally fictional and my version of him can like me regardless of what “team he bats for” and B- I’m nonbinary? So rules get thrown out the window, anyone who likes me is both a miracle and some kind of gay whatever way you spin it. So I let myself warm back up to him, though I’m still a little skittish from before.

Piers, I guess, as awful as it sounds, was initially a crush rebound. Like, don’t get me wrong, I’d have been attracted either way. He’s a musician, a SINGER no less, and has that emo/punk vibe. But he’s also gentle and kind. Swoon. But it helped that I had my crush-feelers out full-force for a cutie in game to obsess over since I was still butthurt about my “friends” killing my crush on Leon. Obsess I did, and continue to do. I could probably snap this man over my knee like firewood he’s so lanky, idk why I put that in here but it’s staying. Piers is the one I most imagine jamming out with on a regular basis, and it makes performing for no one a bit more fun 🥰
