He tucks his hair behind his ears before running over it with pomade, boar bristle brush following up after his deft fingers. It was his grandpa’s, he thought it was the slickest thing ever. His grandpa taught him how to comb his hair like greasers used to in the 50s — his dad didn’t love that. Didn’t love that his son used Farrah Fawcett spray either — but you didn’t mind. You didn’t mind one bit.

“Babe, where’s my — oh,” you smile when you catch him styling his hair, plush lower lip tucking in between your teeth, “Hey.”

“Hey,” he smiles back at your reflection while he perfects the swoop of the sides, the top perfectly coiffed. He watches you stare for a little while he continues with his pomade, structuring the top just so.

“Did you come in here to ask me a question or just stare at me, Manhattan?” he asks, snarky grin pulling at his original smile — glint in his hazel eyes.

“Uh — oh,” you shake your head, a breathless laugh coming from your chest, “Where’s my black coin purse? The beaded one?”

He rest the tip of his tongue on his teeth while he thinks, brows contorting while he looks at you through the mirror. After a moment he snaps his fingers, turning to you fully.

You feel silly over how your skin gets hot when he turns around in his Stefano Ricci suit. Black on black, only the flash of a gold tie clip on his sternum to break up the color.

“I brought it to my tailor, honey,” he frowns, “I’m sorry, I forgot to tell you. Remember the last time you brought it out and some of the beads pulled? I wanted to get it fixed.”

You scrunch your nose, disappointed, “You’re lucky you’re hot, Harrington.”

He snorts, turning back to the mirror to give himself a once over before spritzing himself with his standard Dior Homme. He likes how your eyes darken a little whenever you smell it on him. Steve liked to call it his ‘liquid guarantee’.

“You have ten other black bags you can wear tonight,” he offers, making his way to your shared dressing room off the side of your suite where you stand in front of all of your purses.

“I just had my heart set on that one for this dress,” you shrug, “It’ll be fine. Worse things have happened to me. I mean — you’re here.”

He clicks his tongue again, coming up behind you where his hands smooth over your shoulders, nose gliding up the side of your neck. He can feel the goosebumps raise on your skin, “Bring the silk one, that’ll be pretty.”

“You sure?” you ask, heart fluttering when you hear his deep, bass-y ‘mhm’ in your ear.

“You smell good,” you mumble back, vision getting hazy while he encompasses you from behind. His lips press softly against the base of your jaw.

“Thank you, angel,” he kisses again, voice husky. Steve leans forward, grabbing the black silk coin purse from its spot on the wall and tucking it into your hand while you lean against him — jello, “Now let’s go.”

So you’d have to warn this lazy ass at least a week in advance so he can mentally, physically and spiritually prepare to be productive and social

He’ll go but don't expect him to hold back on the complaints on the way to the gathering

“I could be blissfully sleeping right now...but I’m coming to see your family with you...You owe me big time later...”

Generally he’s polite and will say Hi to everyone but he’s not loving how loud it generally is so he might just stick to you like glue

If anyone starts speaking in Spanish to him his brain freezes and you’re now his translator

He’ll pick up SOME Spanish by the end of the day but I stg its nothing useful, its mostly lewd stuff

Honestly not a fan of the music...at first. Let him kinda absorb the music and he’ll find a weird appreciation for it

Might be up for dancing if you ask nicely beg

Enjoys the food until he experiences your tias, mom and abuelita ganging up on him and insisting that he eat more

Best way to save him is to drag him onto the dance floor

Honestly he’s not gonna know what to do at first because the music is so new to him

Let him find his rhythm because when he done...honey he’s so good at Salsa dancing it should be illegal

He’s so smug about it too and will ABSOLUTELY try to make the dance as sensual as possible just to rile you up

He’ll socialize with the older males of your family like your dad and tios quite a lot because the talks are much quieter than the actual party area and honestly he kinda loves vibing with them

Absolutely hates the beer though, Cerveza is just not his cup of tea

Tbh not a fan of any of the alcoholic drinks tbh, they’re either too sweet for him or they taste too strongly of alcohol for his pallet

LOVES Jicama though

Can’t handle spicy food but low key really likes the flavor for some of the spicier dishes???

But don’t give him too much of the spicy dishes cuz he’s dying after one bite…yikes…

Wont play with your younger relatives if they ask him to tbh, he doesnt have the energy

He WILL, however, talk to them and tell them stories if they REALLY wanna hang out with him

Because of his low energy, your family has nicknamed him “El Güero Flojo” or “Huevon” by the end of the night

Honestly kinda liked the experience and he finds your family endearing

Hooboi this boi is really out of his element here

First of all, he’s 100% going because he wants to meet/impress your family so convincing him is not the problem

The problem is keeping him there the whole time

His big issue is that while he’s aware that many cultures exist, he did not live in that reality. He’s a vampire prince and he’s use to a specific genre of “family gatherings” so this is a bit much for him

Poor boi is so over dressed one of your tios might offer him a change of clothes

Honestly he takes it purely because he saw what was being served and knew it was the better option to 6 hours of washing out stains on his Stefano Ricci suit

He’ll try to be social with your family but honestly he’ll be a little painfully awkward at first.

Honestly just let him go help out in the kitchen and everything will be fine

He’s so helpful and efficient in the kitchen that everyone lets him take charge of serving everyone, the only struggle he’s facing is he has no idea what the food is or how to prepare it but give him a quick recipe and explanation and it ain’t even a problem fam

The Kids there weirdly like him???

Like, they think he’s a little stuffy and strict but he makes really good pozole so they like him

He wont play with them necessarily but he will spectate him if they ask him to and he’s weirdly like a little cheerleader for them in his own way

“Don’t kick the ball so hard. Pick up your knees more when you run...There we go Miguel, much better form.”

Don’t give him spicy food…he can’t handle it…like at all….just don’t

Really likes tamales and other dishes like it because it’s presented in a nice, neat little package

He HATES the alcoholic beverages, cant even smell some of them without making a disgusted face so he can’t have a cerveza with the men to bond

He can however listen to them as they explain the brewing process of drinks like tequila, he’ll even take notes!

Picks up Spanish weirdly fast so he WILL understand you and your family by the end of the day

He’s never heard Hispanic music in his long life so dancing is definitely not his strength this time

Give him a hot minute and you’ll both discover he’s really good at Rumba, Tango and Salsa dancing.

ABSOLUTELY will help clean up after, you expect him to leave dishes dirty in the sink even at someone else’s home? Absolutely not!

Over all kinda enjoyed experiencing you culture with you and your family so he won’t be opposed to returning

Oh hes gonna LOVE this

A social gathering where he can eat, drink and dance to his heart’s content, be casually himself and no one’s gonna scold him for it? sign him up!

For sure the life of the party

Boi can tear it up on the dancefloor, like ayo come get your manz before he accidentally makes your cousin Dolores swoon for him

Absolutely AMAZING at dancing Cumbia, Cha-Cha, Bachata and Reggeaton

Your Abuelita loves him tbh, he eats and talks with her(mostly cuz she spoils him and he LOVES it)

He can handle some spicy dishes but not all so be careful

Loves all the savory dishes tbh

Cracks a cold one open with the men, quickly learns the way of “cerveza and chill” and just bonds with a bunch of your tios, cousins and even your dad

High key likes Cerveza with lime and salt and straight tequila

LOVES Fanta, like he had 16 bottles by the end of the day

Even the kids at the gathering love him cuz he plays with them when they ask, like they are fighting over who gets to play with him at some point.

Does not understand Spanish, doesn’t really learn much while he’s there, will 100% act like he understands what everyone is saying

Over all loves the experience, 10/10 wants to go again soon

...Finna be honest...leave this one at home...

Getting him there in the first place is a miracle, getting him to be polite and sociable is a whole other beast

If he does go, he’s honestly gonna act like a bratty feral cat 90% of the time

Will probably legit get mad if someone tries to talk to him in Spanish because he doesn’t understand what’s being said to him

God help you if he gets into an argument with someone...it wont be pretty for all parties involved

I can for sure see him getting into an argument over candy or desserts served at the gathering because he’s gonna wanna eat it all and not let any of the kids or other guests have any

He’s definitely gonna get smacked with a chancla...and it goes down hill from there

you honestly might have to leave early...or just...stay home

Ok so you’d think he’d be a disaster right?

WRONG!

He’s actually pretty pleasant to have at the Carne Asada

Except for a few things...

He might check out a few of your family members just to tease you.

He might even flirt with them just to get a reaction out of someone...you’re gonna have to protect him from any fists that come flying his way honey...

Other than that he’s much like Ayato in that he’s a social butterfly that will dance the night away with you and just enjoy spending time with your family

Some of the food will be a little too heavy and/or spicy for him but he’ll eat every bite he’s given to make you and your family happy

Not a huge fan of any of the beer your tios brought but that aint stopping him from socializing bby!

They might tease the hell outta him for not liking the beer though

Like Shu, he’s gonna have trouble picking up Spanish but he will learn quite a bit of it!

Unfortunately…he will learn some dirty things…blame your teenage cousins

He will be somewhat conversational in Spanish though, will need you to translate though

Likes Tequila though and he absolutely will try to do a tequila shot on you

Honestly his favorite drink isn’t even the tequila, it’s the Grapefruit flavored Jarritos soda

Will also play with the kids if they ask him but unlike Ayato, he doesn’t have the unlimited stamina needed to play with children

This man is a MASTER of Bachata, Samba and Reggaeton so be prepared to be literally swept off your feet

Honestly really loves your family, culture and traditions so he’s for sure gonna wanna come back anytime someone invites you to a carne asda

*evil chuckle* oooh this one’s gonna be fun!

He THINKS he knows what hes getting into when you invite him along to your family’s Carne Asada

HE’S WRONG! OH SO WRONG!

The moment he steps into the host’s house it’s nothing but welcoming, smiling faces and embraces from your family

Watching this boy get severe whiplash from the warm and welcoming atmosphere is both hilarious and heartwarming

He’s gonna be an awkward duck in the beginning so expect him to just kinda follow you around like a lost puppy

As much as he’d like to hide, he stands out like a sore thumb because of his albinism(being an undead vampire doesn’t help tbh) so he’ll have no choice but be subject to your family asking him if he’s cold while putting a heavy coat on him despite already having one, relatives insisting he sit in the sun with them and everyone giving him heavy and hearty food because for some reason, they’re convinced he’s anemic

The irony HA

It’ll take time but he’ll start to open up and even like the loving, familial atmosphere

He’ll open up to your younger relatives first tbh

They’ll ask him to play with them and he’ll begrudgingly go play if they’re persistent enough

Any family pets on the premises somehow find him and immediately start giving him affection and they will not leave Everyone took photos LMAO

Will be invited to have cerveza with the men and while he’s indiferent about the beer, he kinda likes how your dad and other male relatives are just casual and welcoming while they talk to him

Will find his favorite drink, it’s horchata

Now you would think little Tsunbaru would have a nonexistent spice tolerance, but he can handle it like a champ!

He genuinely likes the taste and it honestly doesn’t burn that bad to him so he’ll eat some really spicy dishes

He might be a little scared of your Tias when they try to spoil him so expect him to lash out at them a little

They’re gonna continue spoiling him anyway and even pinch his cheeks and tease him for the outburst they can sense the tsun in this one

he’s a little awkward on the dance floor at first but if you get him to relax he’s actually surprisingly good at dancing bachata and cumbia

He WANTS to learn Spanish so badly because you speak to your family predominately in Spanish but he does not pick it up quickly

He does learn a few words and phrases by the end of the night but his pronunciation is ROUGH

Like stereotypical “white guy trying to speak Spanish” levels of rough

By the end of the night your family has dubbed him “Blancanieves” because He weirdly does remind them of Snow white...In a weird Tsundere way(For the love of everyone’s enjoyment do not translate that to him, let him be confused, PLEASE)

overall it’s an emotional roller coaster for him but he had fun

your family will beg you to bring him again and he’ll “reluctantly” agree every time

“Fine I’ll go...But I’m only going again cuz’ you’re all so annoyingly insistent! Not like I really wanna go or anything...baka...”

ch. lviii - association gathering

wooyoung × reader, ??? × reader

in a school filled with the affluent, it would only make sense for birds of a feather to flock. but what if your new status doesn't immediately buy you a way into said flock? what if instead, it bought you sure rejection? to the rich and powerful, having different masks is a must. despite some people knowing your true self and your secrets

The hotel was very luxurious. You stared at the hotel ballroom entrance where the Business Association Gathering was being held and you could feel your palms getting sweaty. Though the door was merely ten feet away, it felt as if you needed to journey out there to enter the room.

"(y/n),"

You turned your head to the side to see Kai popping on your side, a worried look on his face. He was wearing a very fancy maroon Valentino jacket and slacks combo with a black mesh top inside, hair slicked back completed with what you can only assume is genuine crocodile leather Armani shoes. Poor croc.

Trying to shake your nerves, you shook your head and offered him a tight-lipped smile, "I'm okay Kai, don't worry," you assured. Beomgyu popped up from behind him with an arm around the younger's shoulder, "This is a foolproof plan, alright? Worst thing that could happen is us getting kicked out quietly," he grinned. Despite wearing a Brunello Cucinelli suit with an unbuttoned shirt inside, he still looked very boyish. One can only assume it's the grin he sported.

Soobin, Yeonjun, and Taehyun soon emerged, having just dropped their cars with the valet. Just from the way they were standing idly, they stood out amongst the already rich crowd. Donning Yves Saint Laurent, Tom Ford, and Stefano Ricci, their looks are comparable to runway models. Not to mention their towering heights which made you feel even smaller than you already were next to them. Both physically and mentally. It didn't help that the whole time Yeonjun dressed you, he kept spewing old money brand. In all honesty, you can only remember a few and that's one of the reasons Yeonjun put you in Chanel instead.

"We should just get this over with," you grumbled. To the unassuming, you might seem like you're just tired of attending fancy business gatherings but you knew damn well that the nerves were getting to you. You let your pettiness get over your head, feeling like you need to prove something to the people around you (namely your brother Mingyu and maybe Wooyoung) or something.

Yeonjun stepped in front of you, blocking you from entering. "Look, we can call this off if you really don't wanna go, it's completely fine. We could just go to an arcade or something," he stated. You raised an eyebrow at him and motioned to all of you, "Dressed like this?" you scoffed, thinking that he was kidding. But he shrugged at you, "Wouldn't be the first time and definitely not the last," he smirked.

Soobin walked to your side to gently rest an arm on your shoulder, catching your attention, "Point is, whatever you decide to do, we're gonna be here with you, okay? We got your back always," he smiled reassuringly. "Unless when we're peeing," Beomgyu blurted out, causing the others to groan at the broken sincerity of the moment. Though it made you laugh as he kept it lighthearted, so you were glad he said it.

Feeling determined, you nodded firmly, "Okay, yeah you guys are right, I just- I need to do this and I'm gonna fucking do it."

You tucked your hands on the arms of Soobin and Kai who offered them to you before walking with your gaze zeroing in on the door.

The pressure of wanting this plan to succeed was there. But oddly enough, you felt nothing but excitement. Usually, before doing anything big (or anything at all), you'd feel this pit in your stomach, a sinking feeling that turns you into nothing but a ball of anxiety. Sure, you've trained yourself enough to power through, mind over body type of thing. But this time, right then and there, you felt confident. Sure, it was nerve-wrecking and the idea of you getting kicked out or even get your ass handed back to you by your parents with an audience watching was more than scary. When you involuntarily squeezed Kai and Soobin's arms out of nervousness, they responded by putting their hands over you and tapped it twice as a sign of comfort. That was when you realized that you didn't turn into a ball of anxiety because this time, you were damn sure that you have people to support you.

So when Beomgyu and Taehyun opened the door to the ballroom that caused people to look at the six of you, you were confident enough to simply smile at them.

You had expected your arrival to be like the movies. People staring in awe, parting as you and your friends make a straight line to your parents. But it didn't happen like that. Sure, people were staring and whispering, but it wasn't anything dramatic.

As you made your way to your parents, you failed to notice a pair of eyes that followed along your form.

Wooyoung couldn't help but stare at how regal you looked. In all the years he knew you, he had never seen you look so out of reach. He admired how your outfit seemed to compliment your curves and it seemed like it was giving you confidence. Whether the outfit boosted your confidence or your attitude elevated your outfit, he couldn't really tell. But one thing's for sure, it made his heart ache.

His eyes soon travelled to your five companions. Of course, someone as attention-stealing as you would be escorted by people who look like they just stepped off Paris Fashion Week. The sight made his grip on the glass he was holding deadly. His mouth felt dry and as much as he wanted to run over and push them all off of you, he couldn't.

"Is that (y/n)?" Seonghwa asked after he blinked rapidly to make sure that his eyes weren't messing with him. Or that his eyes were messed up. Yunho turned from watching the other side of the room after hearing what Seonghwa said. "(y/n)?? (y/n)'s here??" he frantically looked around until his eyes saw you. You looked very different in the best way he could ever mean to say. But his soft gaze turned to glare when he saw Soobin next to you, grinning happily as Huening Kai said something to you that made you look down at your feet. You could've been holding in laughter but Yunho's bitter mind convinced himself that you were ashamed to be seen with those boys. Before he could realize what he was doing, Yunho had fished his phone out to take a picture of you while Seonghwa and Wooyoung were busy staring at you.

"What the fuck is she doing with those five?" Seonghwa scoffed, "Has her standards really dropped that low?" Although it was a rhetorical question, Wooyoung blurted out an answer before he could stop himself. "Her standards were always THAT low, why did you think no one liked her and we had to take pity on her?" Wooyoung said bitterly. Seonghwa completely skipped over the fact that Wooyoung was being bitter and laughed at what his friend said.

Meanwhile, after managing to hold your laughter in after Kai pointed out that one specific man looked like an Asian version of Mr. Dursley, you stopped in front of your parents who despite the surprise, managed to keep their composure.

"Mom, Dad," you greeted with the sweetest smile you could muster, "I hope I'm not too late." Your dad smiled at you and shook his head, "Not at all, dear. I had hoped that you would arrive before my speech," he said, completely following your act.

The person your dad was talking with interrupted, "Mr. Kim, is this your daughter?" he asked, looking between you and your parents. "Yes, yes, she is my youngest," your dad introduced. You reached your right hand from around Kai's arm and held it out for the man, "Nice to meet you Mr. Uhm. My name is (y/n) and these are my friends, I'd have to say I'm a big fan," you confidently said. The man's eyes widened and he hesitantly shook your hand, "I'm sorry dear, have we been introduced before?" he asked, unsure. You shook your head as you let your hands free and cross them in front of your body, "No, sir, I can assure you we haven't. This is actually my first time attending such events as previously, I was too busy with school work. But I am fully aware of your work revolutionizing industries with Solar Panel Plant and I must say, people don't talk about its significant just enough." Hearing you, the man's expression lifted as he became as your parents stared at you in utter shock. Taehyun and Beomgyu looked at each other in complete shock as well as they weren't completely aware of your prowess.

"My, my, you know your stuff, young lady," the man chuckled. "Oh no, sir, please, you're too kind. I'm an International Business student at Prestige Academy along with my friend Kai here and we are simply used to talking about current events," "I see... Are you all International Business majors?" he asked, very intrigued with the six of you. "No, only Kai and I. Soobin here is a Science major, Yeonjun is in Fashion Business, Beomgyu is in music, and Taehyun here is in opera," you explained, pointing to each of your friends who bowed slightly at the mention of their names. "Oh, dear, you must come speak with some of my colleagues here, we can use the opinions of young minds like you. Mind you, these gatherings, while they're very extravagant and exclusive, should've allowed us to be more interactive with the next generation. Mr. Kim, you don't mind me borrowing your daughter and her friends, would you?" he asked your dad. Of course, your dad shook his head and smiled at the man, letting you and your friends go with him.

As the man excitedly talked about his interest in expanding to biochemicals and Soobin told him about his mom's work, you all followed along to wherever it was he was taking you six. Yeonjun slipped to your side to take your hand in his. He lightly squeezed it with a proud smirk on his face, "I knew you could do it," he said smugly. You furrowed your eyebrows at him in confusion, "What are you talking about? We still have a long night," and he shook his head at that, "I'm not talking about attending this event entirely. I was talking about you taking charge and being confident. I knew you had it in you, you just need the right push," he said. You nudged him slightly in a teasing manner, "Are you trying to take credit for my success?" You asked jokingly. Yeonjun rolled his eyes and chuckled, "Hey, Kai started this wanting to become your friend and supporting you thing, you have him to thank. I just like pushing people and see if they fall," he snarked. You elbowed him lightly in the rib but it didn't hurt him whatsoever judging from the way his chest rumbled with laughter.

The night went smoothly. You and your friends managed to mingle with a lot of people who seemed to catch wind of the youngsters who are fun to have business talks with. Your initial worry of failing your plan was immediately forgotten once you got comfortable. Sure, you were in your element, talking about interesting things with interesting people. But the presence of familiar people next to you, which are your friends, allowed you to unlock your confident side.

You were so caught up in socializing that you became completely unaware of the gaze that Wooyoung had been giving you the whole night. For the first time ever, Wooyoung felt inferior in your presence. What made things worse are you were nowhere near him and you still managed to affect him so much. Scratch that, the worst thing is seeing you looking so happy in a place you claimed you never want to find yourself in with the people he hates most that seemed to be able to bring out the best side of you.

It hurt him to admit.

But he could've been that person.

He should've been that person.

In reality however, he was never that person despite the many opportunities. He had always kept your best side to himself.

His selfishness took its victim.

And sadly, it was himself.

Enter Maggie Francesca Harrington.

Moved to America from Italy when her father struck it big there.

Lives in Hawkins, Indiana for awhile, she goes into high school and meets Richard “Rich Dick” Harrington.

They fall in love and get married early(she’s 18, he’s 20). Her father, Francesco Giorgio Ricci, despises Richard and doesn’t give his blessing.

Francesco doesn’t approve of Richard, but he’ll be damned if he can’t walk his Pippi down the isle.

They have a beautiful wedding, beautiful reception, everything is paid for by the Harrington family(of course).

Her Maid-of-Honor is none other than Joyce Byers. Joyce was Maggie’s first American friend and has been with her through everything.

Mama and Papa Ricci move back to Italy for 4 years before moving back bc Maggie is pregnant.

April 29, 1967 - Stefano “Steve” Otis Francesco Harrington is born.

Maggie’s mother, Serena Paola Ricci, is full on in love with her little grand baby, her tesorino.

Spoils little Stefano to the max.

Francesco took to teaching him how to cook when he got a little older, as well as teaching him Italian.

Back when Serena still lived in Italy, she was a full-on fashionista: making dresses, taking in the waist, adjusting the lengths, adding, subtracting, the full shebang.

Serena would make Stefano little clothes, accessories of all type whether it be supposedly meant for girls or boys.

Richard had the most problems with this bc his son was not going to become a queer from his grandmother’s influence.

Maggie and Richard fought the most about Serena’s influence on Stefano.

Maggie all for the clothing, she didn’t spend money on clothes, even though they were well off, when her mother could make them for free.

Richard against Serena dressing Steve with whatever she made.

“The clothes make him look like a queer, Maggie! What are we gonna do when people start talking?! If anything, their influence on him needs to stop-” “Who cares?! He’s dressed and gets to spend time with his grandparents! They love him, Richard! Do not take that away from them. Don’t take it away from Steve.”

After that, Grandma and Grandpa don’t come over as often as they used to.

Steve’s confused on why grandma and grandpa aren’t around a lot and Maggie explains that they’re old and wanna have some romantic dates before coming back.

So, Steve starts watching his mother draw and paint and what-not and decides he wants to try too.

She teaches him the works and he takes off, in love with the hobby, then Richard finds out.

He goes off about these kinds of things making children queer and berates him for it.

Richard signs him up for baseball the same day.

Maggie knowing this, still draws with him in secret, teaching him more, both occasionally doing drawings together.

This is the start of Richard’s business trips.

Also, someone said they envision Sophia Loren as Steve’s grandmother and I can’t unsee it.

Like, I can imagine this is one of the only pictures Steve has of his grandmother.

And someone sees it and interrogates him about it (maybe Robin), and he just gets all sad like, “That’s my grandmother, Serena Paola Ricci. She passed a little while back before all this happened…”, just telling her about how she’s had a big impact on his life, all the activities they used to do together, what she taught him, etc. etc.. And Robin is immediately pulling him into a hug and he sobs cuz he loved his grandparents so much, Serena especially.

Here’s everything we know about Prince Jakob’s handsome new caretaker.

All eyes were on the little Prince Jakob during the annual memorial service for the late Prince Erik yesterday, undoubtedly, but a new member to the royal household has also captured hearts around the nation - Prince Jakob’s nanny who made his first public appearance at the event.

The annual event has always been a somber affair for the Royal Family, but especially after the turbulent year the family had, with Princess Alma’s tragic passing, the entirety of Sweden is anxious to finally see Prince Jakob again at what would be his first official outing since the passing of his mother.

Prince Jakob donned a smart Stefano Ricci suit (get the look here for 19,000SEK) for the event, quietly emotional throughout the service where he sat in the lap of his newest babysitter, Simon Eriksson, right next to his father Crown Prince Wilhelm. Prince Jakob seems to have already formed a trusted bond with Eriksson, who reportedly started his role merely a month ago - he held the little prince’s hand throughout the duration of the service and was able to keep the tears at bay, despite Prince Jakob’s well known tumultuous temper.

Eriksson clearly has quickly become an adored member of the royal family, as seen here sharing smiles with Crown Prince Wilhelm and Prince Jakob during a private moment visiting late Prince Erik’s grave at the Royal Cemetery, and Eriksson soothing the young prince in a heartwarming display of soft affection.

Prince Jakob’s newest nanny has been the hot topic in royal news since yesterday - admiring the young man’s dashing looks aside, many commentators on social media are also charmed by his abilities to cheer up the notoriously moody little prince.

Not much is known about Simon Eriksson so far - here is Eriksson dressed in a smart but understated Burberry coat, a down-to-earth beanie hat, and a scarf of a similar style to Crown Prince Wilhelm’s usual attire to his royal debut yesterday. Being the first male caretaker to a young heir of the Swedish Royal Family, Eriksson is certainly an unusual addition to the household, also standing out with his natural hairstyle, a fresh renewal from the usual military style grooming that royal nannies were historically subjected to.

Crown Prince Wilhelm and the late Princess Alma were hands-on parents with a modern approach, and departing from the tradition to hire expatriate nannies hailing from renowned childcare academies across Europe, Simon Eriksson is a local graduate from Stockholm University, with experience in child psychology and early education. Sources say that Eriksson graduated top of his class and always received praises from all of his work placements, at prestigious institutes or otherwise.

Whilst Eriksson does not have the same elite education as traditional royal nannies do, he is a bilingual native speaker of Spanish and would no doubt be a great asset for Prince Jakob to follow in his father’s footsteps, who speaks five languages. The four-year-old little prince apparently can already count up to 100 in Spanish.

Eriksson’s background seems unorthodox within the royal household’s track record, but impressively he has been able to keep up with the difficult task of supporting the newly widowed Crown Prince Wilhelm and keeping the young Prince Jakob on his best royal behaviour - not a small feat when Prince Jakob has reportedly cycled through multiple caretakers during his mourning period. He must be as charming as his strikingly good looks advertise if Crown Prince Wilhelm’s smiley break from the solemn day is anything to go by.

From the royal laughs we took a glimpse of yesterday, it’s not hard to deduce that we will be seeing much more of the young and attractive nanny at more functions in the future, as quickly formed fans of the new royal gentleman rejoice.
