Baki Cast Odd Habits

Ideas are bouncing around in my empty little noggin non-stop, so I'll keep writing them down for both your and my own enjoyment. Have some odd habits that the Baki cast have! I'll be making another post about habits that they all have towards each-other later on.

Baki:

The man stares. A lot. At everything and everyone. If he finds anything mildly interesting, everyone knows, because he'll be leaning over to stare at it, those big ol' peepers of his are wide open, and they see all.

He uses pens as drum sticks on his thigh whenever he gets bored and has more than one in his immediate reach. Does he actually know how to play drums? No, but would he be good at them? Probably.

If he can have a say in what channel the TV is turned to, it's absolutely to some nature documentary about bugs. Bro likes bugs, thinks they're neat as hell, and he'll always take the opportunity to learn more about them if that can potentially make him stronger.

Get this man a fidget toy and watch him just zone out completely. Were you saying something important? He certainly didn't notice, because he's been busy with this fidget cube for the past hour and a half staring at that one specific spot on the wall.

Smelling random shit. Seriously. If he gets bored enough, and there are enough things around him, he'll just pick them up and sniff them. Too big to pick up? He'll just lean in. It works great when you're grocery shopping, the man can pick the best fruits and veggies. Not so fun when it's, you know, an empty ceramic vase.

Kozue:

She chews on stuff, like, all the time. Gum, pens, her nails (she's trying to kick that habit don't @ her) or even mints. She's a heathen and she knows it, but that doesn't stop her from cracking a mint in half with her molars.

All those fun and weird hairstyles she did when she was younger? Yeah, that was a habit of hers too. She'd zone out while she was playing with her hair and wind up with some pretty interesting looks.

She plays with her clothes a lot too. She'll worry at the edges of her sleeves, or play with the hem of her shirt or jacket. She does it a lot even if she's not nervous, it's just a really stubborn habit of hers that doesn't stop. And it's not just her own clothes either. If she can, she'll start picking at Baki's shirts and sweaters too. All those little balls of fluff? They'll be gone by the time she's done.

That's another habit, picking at things that don't fit the established texture of an item. Is there a rough patch on her desk because the protective lacquer wore off? That patch is going to steadily get bigger and bigger because she'll pick at it.

She's picked up Baki's habit of smelling things, and it's something she catches herself doing all the time for no reason. He'll just hand her an apple and tell her to smell it, and she will, without question. Get this girl a candle collection.

Hanayama:

Destruction. That's a habit, right? Or would that be considered a hobby? He used to really like just destroying things with his grip strength as a child, and that has NOT changed in the slightest. It's less of a hobby now and more of just an outright habit.

He destroys, but he also makes things... Sometimes. He'll do it absent-mindedly, just tear an entire magazine apart just so he can twist it into little shapes and figures. Useless with a paintbrush, and also useless with any propter sculpting media, but just hand him a book or something and let him sit without entertainment for a few minutes and watch as he turns it into an art project that would make 14 year old you insane from jealousy.

Fixing little things here and there. Is that vase slightly skewed? He'll straighten it out. Same with that picture frame on the wall, and that carpet, and that stack of loose papers you meant to put away... Now that he's thinking about it, your entire bedroom is slightly off-center, and that's really bugging him.

Not knocking when he walks into a house. Like, ever. This man doesn't knock unless he absolutely has to, which is to say, if he's still able to walk on two feet and move his arms, he's not going to.

He folds towels in really particular ways. The tag needs to be facing a certain way, and it needs to be folded in a specific direction with a specific method... The man is really picky about his surroundings, he wants them to be nice.

Katsumi:

Before losing his arm, he absolutely used to bite his nails whenever he was spaced out. Both hands, he'd rip his nails off with his teeth then go in and clean them up later when he zoned back in. After losing his arm, he only ever bites the nails on his own hand. Retsu's hand gets taken care of meticulously.

He fixes his hair a lot. Like, a lot. Almost constantly unless he's fighting, he's tucking little stray hairs away so that he's all neat and clean. It applies for other people too, if he can get away with it. He definitely does it to Natsue all the time.

He stands weird as hell when it's just him and his boys. Not like, "oh, look at Katsumi, he's standing like he's never heard of posture before", nono, it's more like "what the hell are you doing?? How is that comfortable??" levels of standing weird. You ever just stood on one leg with the other one tucked up behind you? Take that and multiply it by ten.

He hums a lot. Not even particular tunes, he just hums to hum. If he's cooking, cleaning, in the shower, setting the table, anything. He's just making noises and vibing in his own little world until he remembers that he can actually just speak.

Jack:

He doesn't have a lot of super obvious habits, his mom was pretty strict on him, so if he used to bite his nails, that habit died out by the time he was like, ten for good. The only habit of his that has ever come back is his slouching, but that's more of an environmental thing at this point.

He cracks his joints a lot. There's a lot of pressure there, and he needs to relieve it somehow, otherwise he'd just be uncomfortable and stiff. Sounds like a gunshot whenever he cracks his neck, someone get this man a chiropractor.

He also has a habit of just... Staring at things. Not to the degree Baki does, where he's just blatantly looking at something. He's the opposite almost, where it's painfully obvious that he's not really looking at whatever he's staring at. Man stares straight into space quite a bit.

Diane instilled a lot of habits in him from her time in the military, so he always leaves his clothes folded neatly on the foot of his bed before he gets into the shower.

He touches his own scars a lot. Usually it's just him running a thumb over a scar on his arm when he has his arms crossed, but other times he'll rub at the scar on his throat, or the ones on either side of his face from when Pickle, you know, ate part of his face. He doesn't even realise that he does it, and if you point it out to him he'll get confused.

Kosho:

When he was younger he would pick at his nails a lot, but as he got older that habit turned into him picking at his cuticles, and then at whatever calluses formed on his hands from his training.

He also rubs at his scars, but it's something he's aware that he's doing, unlike Jack, who just doesn't process that he's doing it. Kosho has a favourite scar to rub at because it's just been there for so long that it's familiar now.

He likes to wander around and pick up little knick-knacks from around a room. Do you have a little model on your desk? He'll pick it up, look it over, then he'll put it back and move onto the next thing. His brother's office is a no-go for him because he'll make it even more of a mess than it already is.

Speaking of his brother, when they're having one of their genuine brotherly moments and not one of Kureha's smartass "I'm your big brother" moments, Kosho just starts to hip-check his older brother. Not hard, mind you, just a little bump, but it's something that he started doing when he was young and never stopped.

Kureha:

This man doesn't have many habits at all, and if he does, they're beneficial to him, because he's a petty bitch that way. He's legitimately trained himself to do these little habits so even when he's "at rest" he's still improving himself.

His worst habit, however, is when it comes to his laundry. Clean or dirty, this man puts off folding it for as long as physically possible by just ignoring its existence. Fresh load of laundry, straight out of the dryer that gets shoved right into his hands? It's like it doesn't exist, he just puts it down on the nearest surface and keeps going like it was never popped right into his grubby mits.

He used to toy with the ends of his hair a lot when he was little, but he's long grown out of that habit. If anything, now he'll just toy with a stethoscope or a pen if he has them handy.

Retsu:

This man has the most wholesome habits out there. If he starts to get bored, he doesn't immediately jump to training, he just goes for a walk. Is it kinda cloudy outside? That's fine, just go walk through a wooded area.

Hand him a flower and instead of picking at the petals, he just gently pets them. He doesn't want to damage the flower, it's just that they're so soft and delicate that he can't help but touch them and admire their natural beauty.

If a bug lands on him, he'll just sorta let it sit there and catch its breath for a minute. If it doesn't fly off on its own fast enough, he'll just take a small pause to set it down or gently blow it off of him so he doesn't crush it.

Can direct eye contact be a habit?? Because he makes it a habit to always look at the person talking to him and nod at least three times while they're talking so they know that he's listening. Direct eye contact, active listening, this man wants people to know that he's legitimately paying attention.

Doppo:

He stares at Natsue a lot. Give him the chance to sit and stare at his wife all day and he will. If he was a poet instead of a karateka, he'd write enough sonnets about her to fill the ocean with paper. He just thinks that she's beautiful.

Ever since he got his hand cut off, he rubs at his wrist occasionally. It's not like it hurts, no, the doctor did a good job putting it back on, but sometimes he just has to feel that little scar around his wrist.

We know where Katsumi got his habit of humming from, and it's this man right here. Walking around the house, cleaning the dojo, getting ready to do some early morning training, he'll just be humming along.

He developed a habit of fixing Katsumi's clothes and hair when he was younger, and that habit has kept around. If he notices that his son has a leaf on his shoulder or if his sweater drawstring is a bit loose, he'll just reach over and fix it.

Shibukawa:

He cleans his glasses a lot. Not even because they're that dirty, it's just a familiar, repetitive motion that he doesn't even realise he's doing most of the time.

He pats people a lot. Not to be demeaning or anything like that, he just does it. A quick pat on the hand or the arm, sometimes even a thigh if that's all he can reach. Just a small old person pat that they just do sometimes.

He reminds people of their youth quite a bit, and it's absolutely a habit by now. A lot of "Young man" and "youngster", but also a lot of "when I was your age" and "back when I was in my prime", even if it comes out of nowhere.

He absolutely fidgets with his fingers in his sleeves whenever he's just sitting there, chilling. It's probably something he picked up when he was younger, and he can't place where or when he started doing that, but he 100% does it.

!BONUS!

Tokugawa:

He absolutely has developed little habits with each of his fighters, he loves them so much, these men are fantastic and they all mean so much to him.

He absolutely brings little candies and snacks for Baki, even "sneaks" them to him in that little old person way of grabbing your hand and stuffing said snack into your palm. He can't help that he's so fond of his champion, who is incredibly food motivated.

He always calls Kozue "Little Miss" or "Little Lady" whenever he sees her, because while he knows she's not a fighter, and actually dislikes fighting as a whole, he does still appreciate that Baki has such a headstrong woman to take care of him.

He pats the taller fighters on the back of their calf when he walks past them so they know that he's there. He does it to Jack so often that he doesn't react to the touch itself, but if he glances down to see that it isn't Tokugawa he actually jumps a little.

He just lets himself get picked up and carried around by the fighters at this point. He's accepted that he's just small and light, and they mean it in as respectful a way as possible, they've all just gotten used to picking him up and walking off with him to go wait for a fight to start.

Definitely a social smoker, if he's sitting with Doppo and Gouki he'll light his pipe and have a little puff now and again, especially if they're having a few drinks.

Human duplication was as controversial a process as science could come up with. It wasn’t true cloning, far from that shit that popped out babys that always diverge from their progenitors. That shit had been nearly accepted, despite the conservatives whining as ever about natural birth.

Human duplication had reasons for its near illegality. It could create carbon copies of a person, down to the mind. There was a price though. All that base tissue needed to come from somewhere and artificial or animal-based cells wouldn’t suffice. It required a full sentient person to convert, creating a double in exchange for a human sacrifice. Paramount to murder, but politicians had screamed bloody murder to hold it in their destructive toolbelts. Convinced the country that it was a way to reform the worst people, converting them into more brave soldiers and intelligent geniuses. Multiply the best of the country at the price of the worst.

It was complete nightmarish eugenics word salad, equating the unwanted to a resource. Just another way to abuse the disenfranchised.

There were two groups that had access to the drug needed to convert a person. The government and the punks. Cody was proud of their resourcefulness in that regard. He hadn’t been the driving force of their discovering on how to synthesize their own variant of it, but before long it had been dished out to every person with the willingness to infuse their DNA into it.

The fascists were using it to build their armys so the punk little queers had decided to fight fire with fire. It was hardly the most moral solution to the problem, but morality falls to the wayside when you watch your friend be converted into the legion of identical cops patrolling the streets. They barely even pretended to have a reason to dose you up with the drug these days, the pigs converting anyone they could isolate into privacy. You’d watch a drunk college student get snatched into an alley by an old pig and watch that pig emerge with another of him in turn.

It made Cody enjoy watching those same fascists panic as his crew jumped them. Shout and swear violence on them as Cody shot them up with his own brew. He hadn’t given much thought to the idea of duplicates, but anybody was better than these filth.

They continued shouting and spouting vulgar threats as their variant worked its way into their veins. Their punk smarties had made it only activate through this specific violent thought, some special cocktail of murderous intent. Highly effective against these brands of killers, unsurprisingly enough.

Their twisted snarling grins smoothed as their cells restructured. Buzz cuts and bald spots sprouting his dirty blond hair in abundance as the cell turnover kicked into rapid speed. Bloodshot eyes draining into his own peepers, their dilated pupils losing focus as if they were windows to see Cody’s neurons overtaking theirs.

Cody found himself fascinated as his tattoos traced across their arms. This shit was almost supernatural in its ability to replicate. Cody was sure his tats weren’t in his genome, but so wasn’t his hair length. Everything perfected down to the pierced holes in his ears, no imperfection left out of the picture.

He was left with two new bros, cringing at the uniforms they wore. Rapidly shirking the blue off, preferring to be naked in the warehouse they’d lured those idiots too rather than looking anything like a nazi. Made Cody smirk in pride at the reformed men, being proud in both their identity to the cause and their shared killer bodies. It wasn’t every day that you could see yourself like that without a mirror and Cody preened at his copies.

They’d prepared for this moment, the copies already heading to the van that Cody and his crew had stocked with matching outfits. They likely remembered buying the shit. New jackets and boots to make the three of them so identical that it would confuse the shit out of surveillance. The police was still unaware that they could even utilize the substance and boy was it fun to abuse that incompetence.

They were proper duplicates by the time the other two got dressed and Cody found himself far too into it. Dressed to the nines in triplicate, already treating each other as extensions. His crew calling for plans and one of the new hims speaking up before he did, giving exactly the words Cody had been planning on saying. One of his duplicates handing him a cig before he could realize he’d been craving it, knocking shoulders as they watched the others set fire to the evidence.

Cody could sympathize in one regard with the pigs. This was sounding to be a lot of fun.

Differences of the WoY visual style between the pilot and the final show (Along some other stuff) (Part 1)

So a crap-ton of cartoon show bibles and pilots surfaced recently, which is kind of fucking cool, and it included stuff from Wander over Yonder, which is way fucking cooler.

First thing I did was over-analyze the show's visual style and I figure I should put my findings somewhere, so here you go! In a chronological order, it's easier that way (and builds suspense for the real good stuff, ooohooooh (in a spooky ghost voice)).

The first shot alone already brings forth some differences. As far as I know, the show never illustrates space like this, entirely black with just a couple of stars to break the void. There's usually some blue star dust or something, kinda like this:

The skullship was planned to be 3D-animated apparently, instead of being drawn in the same style as the backgrounds. This allows for WAY more complex movements, since it's easier to pull off.

We then get to take a looksie inside of the ship... this isn't like ANYTHING in the show.

We do see control rooms on occasion, but not one like this. It's a circular room with rows of watchdogs on the wall, watching monitors, circulating the middle where Hater sits on his throne. The railings on its support carry Peepers and his cockpit. Two watchdogs control the ship (I think) at the front. That blue goop at the top might be the ship's brain (you can also already see some animation errors in the front, peep their grabbers). There ain't ever been a color palette inside the ship like this, they usually opt for red and black rather than red and white. This might have been their solution to making the characters native to Hater pop out against the background before deciding to just substitute black for purple.

There's still bright locations within the skullship, but they're non-threatening ones, like the food court.

Commander Peepers and the watchdogs have designs that, while closer to their final versions than the pitch bible (or whatever that cover of that graphic novel was supposed to be), carry some traits still worth pointing out (well, so does everything here, but pshhhshshhhshh).

SHINY

COLLARS

Puffy collars around necks, wrists and ankles.

Detailed irises.

Detailed soles on shoes.

Those lines on their gloves that you see in your grandpa's toons.

(bugs bunny pictured flipping the bird)

This is specific to Peepers; the jagged thunder-spike on his helmet has dimension to it, as opposed to the implied dimension in his final design. Spikes on the side are also way longer here.

His eye/face emotes differently by just utilizing a black eyelid, rather than turning the hat into a pseudo-eyebrow, kinda like Double D from Ed, Edd n' Eddy.

We then get a glimpse at Hater's design...

Despite his face missing, you can already see some differences, like his arms resembling more those of an actual skeleton and packing a lot less mass. His hood is also a bit more tout and the folds surrounding it have more empathis.

Another space shot with some shapes to break up the infinite black; it's not always you see a warm color palette for space in the actual show.

Maybe here, when Wander and Sylvia stop the sun from blowing up in "The Good Deed".

When entering the city that's about to get its shit stirred by Hater, we notice that there aren't ANY other locations illustrated like this. We usually have smooth, airbrushy looking stuff, when this is more reminiscent of a comic strip, with clear lines and some hatching to indicate weight here and there. Same goes for the townsfolk, they remind me of... Krazy Kat or something. Craig McCracken has gone on record saying he drew a lot of inspiration from old comic strips, but I don't know if Krazy Kat is one of them. I just thought of it :)

The inside of the skullship looked different so this place might have had an unique artstyle to other locations we would've seen in this version of the show, but that would also be a big difference since the actual show keeps the background style consistent throughout the whole run (as far as I know).

Goes in hand with the skullship; the watchdogs are 3D-animated here, although subtly.

Different gun designs... they look more like water guns here. Big ol' TUBES. Their guns in the show are more sci-fi-esque.

Hater's logo is different, in-line with his design. Way flatter design too. Might as well take a look at his actual face now.

Well, more like next time. Just found out you can only use up to 30 images in one post. Oopsies. I'll continue this when I have the energy! I'll continue my chronological analysis/rambling and perhaps talk about the general art-style and animation at the end. Might take me a couple of more posts.

Warning! Bad english!

So!! I don’t know if anyone has talked about this before, BUT one day we were discussing Hater’s possible past with one of the WOY fans and she suggested that Hater came to the watchdog's planet in his van and make fun of them and scare them. This theory seemed quite interesting to me, because usually I imagined the capture of the watchdog's planet when Hater ALREADY had his skull-ship.

I specifically rewatched “The funk” and just look AT THAT!!! Hater says, “Back in the old days, being a "jerk", cruising around the Galaxy, picking on the weak and defenseless...” and turns the steering wheel while saying this!!! Weak and defenseless!! Watchdog's weak and defenseless!! He obviously show up on their planet, most likely he behaved the same way as he did with Muplixians!! Perhaps he didn’t want to capture them initially, mabye it was an decision in the moment, maybe it happened because incitement from Peepers, who made a fuss in right time, or mabye watchdog's were very scared and simply gave up. But you understand!!! Ahhh!! How Craig is fooling us!! How I love him!! In this case episode "the funk" becomes so symbolic and cool! Peepers reminds Hater what it's like to be a villain by reminding him of HIS FIRST day of conquest!!! Reminding him how he conquered his first planet!!! THEY'RE planet!!!!

Peepers says "I bet you didn't know we fixed your old van." Why did they even fly in a van, and not in the mini capsule that they have (that mini skull-ship from the episodes about gifts). All for this!! In general, if you rewatching this moment, keeping the theory in mind... well, this is farshedoing, guys. This is just a bold hint, they tell us in the face. I'm sure that if they told us about this in season 3, it would be one on one situation and scenes, only with watchdog's. There's a reason van exists. WHAT and HOW they say. I really underestimated "The funk" all this time. I'm so impressed right now! This has been on the surface for so many years!!

Plus the fact that van was owned by young Peepers and Hayter in the NONCANONIC animatic. Craig WANTED it all to start with the capture of two (now one) silly-milly in a simple van.

You could argue that I’m wrong bc of this part on the show stopper, but 1 Wander’s seen Sylvia in this outfit before, it wasn’t even a disguise, 2 if he recognized Dominator I’m sure he’d recognize Sylvia (and Peepers, he knows all the watchdogs by name and knows a lot about them individually) and 3, do you really think Wander specifically would question it?

Okay I did another manga panel recolor to illustrate my point about Danny’s freakassness and how it could’ve been written more effectively.

My main issue with Danny’s character has little to do with his design and nothing to do with his personality and motivations. It’s just his behavior that drives me up a wall. You really don’t have to change anything about Danny himself to communicate his main internal conflicts: his desperate need for unconditional love.

It’s frustrating because I know that others (including myself, when my friend introduced me to this) will misinterpret Danny to be a pedo when he’s explicitly not one, it’s just that his behavior communicates something that’s different to his actual character. You see this in the manga and the anime, especially—a lot of his expressions are weirdly horny even though he never actually communicates or suggests he really feels that way about Rachel. Notably, his need for her is familial. He sees himself in her, and his mother’s eyes in her. In another post, @wlwfav said in a reply to a post by @mothwithapencil that he wasn’t projecting his feelings about his mother on Rachel so much as he was projecting his desires for unconditional love onto Rachel to mother her, like a reverse projection (trying not to plagiarize here!). I fully agree. This is especially apparent when you see a flashback of Danny counseling Rachel in the game. He directly relates his shit onto her. The amount of countertransference (which is when therapists project their own feelings onto their clients) this man has is immeasurable. It’s part of why I’m so attached to him. (For reference, my favorite character of all time is also a therapist with an assload of countertransference.)

Anyways, I think you can make Danny just as unsettling if not more if you get him to stop acting as horny as he does. It causes some really uncomfortable mischaracterizations. There’s really no need for it. That’s why I edited the second panel a little bit. You can change a character’s behavior and keep their motives and desires the same. I wouldn’t change an extreme amount about his behaviors. I think his lack of physical boundaries actually works really well for his character. It makes sense given his isolated and rejected upbringing. I draw the line when he pins Rachel down in the anime. What was the reason. He just wants her eyes. Explicitly. Just her eyes.

Also, the tongue? Can anyone explain why it’s necessary??? It’s GROSS AND WEIRD! It also gives his character a weirdly sexual undertone that isn’t necessary to making him a terrifying guy. Like you can still get freaky with it without that damn thing. The excessive use of peepers…I mentioned this in my last post. It’s a good way to disarm clients/players from his obsession with eyes. If he treats his fascination as a joke (“I just really like your peepers haha!”) it makes him less suspicious. Contextually, it also makes sense. Danny canonically becomes a psychiatrist because he knows he’ll encounter people with lifeless eyes. Unsurprisingly, in the art of the game, they tend to be younger patients. To me, when we first meet him, he came off as a pediatrician. I mean, he calls himself Dr. Danny instead of Dr. Dickens, like a pediatrician would. His tongue shit and his peeper shit could sound like some silly thing he’d say to get clients to feel more at ease around him before he legit kills them and takes their eyes.

All of that is really unsettling to me. You could characterize his freakassness in ways that aren’t sexual but just as chilling. If Rachel’s needs for a perfect family and things that are “hers” can be conveyed in a horrific way without sexualizing her, the same could be done for Dr. Fuckface. He’s so similar to her, after all. He wants a family—Rachel, specifically—that mirrors what he wishes he would’ve had in his childhood, because he believes that comes with unconditional love. Even when Zack stabs him in the anime, his line is, “I’ve been so terribly lonely!” Because that’s his actual issue. He thinks Rachel, having had a similar childhood, is the only one who could understand, and he believes he’s fundamentally unloveable because of his trauma. He literally thinks his eyes killed his mom. He’s so fascinating!! I’m so obsessed with him. I can’t wait to start episode 0 of the manga.

So, yeah. In the second recolor I tried to convey his creepiness by giving him a more wistful expression that still strikes you as fucking weird. Instead of seeming excited sexually, he seems excited at the idea of a forced family. It’s more accurate to who he actually is. He literally does not want her like that in canon. I wish his behaviors reflected that more.

Yes :)#I'd like to say this is early on in their relationship but let's be honest they'd take the opportunity to rib each other at any point lol #Hehe I had fun with DAX's eye and tendril expressions in this one ♪#I mean I have a lot lately with the curls and swirls and thick lines and shapes and fully-up and angry hehehe ♪ It's all fun!#But these were especially fun hehe #Still yet inspired by WOY lol - believe me I was least of all expecting to be hit this hard but I'm not about to complain lol #I still can't get over the fact that DAX and Peepers are both Commanders who are in love with their superior and have beef with a Captain #Hilarious ♥ Love that for them ♪♫#But yes! Captain Tim was what inspired these! Lol ♪ The fact that Peepers is 3rd in command to a pet is very funny haha #And obviously it doesn't quite transfer over since the Captain is y'know - a human and DAX is ranked under ZEX specifically #I guess if you really wanted to get into it the Captain could be bragging about sleeping with ZEX but that seems even a little too mean #And also would he be so brazen about that to DAX - would he even know? I guess it Really depends on when this is lol #I do love DAX's subtle rudeness hehe ♪ He puts up with you Captain and that's about it #I had a lot of fun with his pained/freaked out expression as well haha #I also forget if I've talked about my headcanon about VUX strength? :0 I feel like I have but I have no idea where lol #I also don't remember where I got the inclination from but at some point my mind settled on the thought that VUX arms are weaker than human #At least pound-for-pound - but their strength comes from their specificity :D That their grip strength is much more evenly spread!#I mean humans have what our hands so fingers - and our arms - we can grab and hold but they can /coil/#So holding a human in an arm lock like that would be hard to break especially if he held onto the Captain's shoulder or lifted :3c #Why are you picking fights person-to-person Captain don't you have a ship and crew to pilot right about now lol #Goes and tattles to ZEX maybe hehe ♪ Fair's fair!

two questions; pizza tower characters' opinions on spring and autumn/fall?

Ooo now we'll have all four seasons covered!

Spring and Fall!

Peppino:

(Spring): Loves the spring! The warm weather makes him finally come out of his seasonal depression. However, spring showers put a bit of a damper on his delivery service.

(Fall): Thinks the autumn is beautiful, but begins to feel a bit glum as he knows his seasonal depression is once again coming back.

Gustavo:

(Spring): Loves the spring! He loves watching the trees and flowers come back to life after the harsh cold. The rain makes him a bit sad at times, but he appreciates it.

(Fall): LOVES the fall! Likes going to pumpkin patches, sunflower fields, loves hiking and seeing the colors of the leaves. Thinks the transition from summer to winter is beautiful.

Mr. Stick:

(Spring): Likes the spring but hates the inconsistency in weather. Rainy and cold, then warm and humid for a few days. Back to rainy and cold. Not a fan. But the flowers are nice.

(Fall): Loves the fall. Similar to Gustavo, he loves all the usual fall activities. He specifically likes apple picking at the orchards, it makes him feel like a kid again.

Pepperman:

(Spring): LOVES the spring. The weather is finally getting warmer, and the most beautiful scenery of blooming foliage is his muse. He will even go out and sit in the rain for a while.

(Fall): Doesn't really like the autumn. It means winter is coming, and he's not haply about it. He thinks fall colors are bland and predictable.

The Vigilante:

(Spring): Doesn't like spring all that much. All the rain makes the farm muddy and soggy. All the livestock get dirtier than usual, and all the hay gets wet. It makes his life a bit inconvenient.

(Fall): Likes the fall. Opens up the farm for guests to go apple picking, pumpkin picking, and even opens the petting zoo. It's his most profitable time of year. Seeing the farm so busy makes him happy.

The Noise:

(Spring): Likes the spring. He likes seeing the flowers bloom. His seasonal depression gets washed away. He loves playing in the puddles that the rain brings, but almost always gets sick from it. This does not dissuade him from doing it again.

(Fall): Is ok with the fall. He loves the colors of the leaves, but that only means that the cold winter is coming. His seasonal depression comes creeping back.

Noisette:

(Spring): LOVES the spring and everything about it! She loves Easter. She and The Noise hide eggs for each other to find. She gets to start her flower garden again, too! She likes to play in the rain, but oddly enough, never gets sick from it.

(Fall): LOVES the fall! She loves going to Vigi's farm and doing all the activities! She drags Noise with her to go apple picking, sunflower picking, and petting the animals! She always gets lost in the corn maze and needs to be rescued.

Fake Peppino:

(Spring): LOVES the spring! It's when frogs are at their peak! He loves singing with the spring peepers. You'll hear him croak a lot. He likes to bask in the sun and the rain. He also rolls around in the mud a lot.

(Fall): Doesn't like fall too much. However, he does enjoy the dampness of it. He likes hiding in leaf piles and taking naps. The fall means the cold is coming, so he tries to enjoy what's left of the warmth.

Pizzahead:

(Spring): Absolutely loves the spring! All the pretty colors and even the rainstorms, too. However, he has a suspicion that Noisette is still gardening despite him telling her she's banned from it after growing a mutant plant that almost broke the tower.

(Fall): Loves the fall! Goes to Vigi's farm and does literally everything! He has to be watched carefully, though, as he's tried to steal a calf.

Pillar John:

(Spring): He doesn't typically enjoy the spring, specifically because of the rain. Sooo much rain. The humidity makes him feel sticky and gross, and the added warmth only contributes to it.

(Fall): Enjoys the fall. Likes seeing all the little animals at the fun farm. He's usually the one who has to rescue Noisette from the corn maze since he's tall enough to see over it all.

Gerome:

(Spring): Doesn't really like the spring. He ends up cleaning SO much mud off the floors of the tower. It makes his job a lot harder than it needs to be. He does enjoy the warmth, though.

(Fall): Likes the autumn, it's okay. Mot too fond of the farm, but he enjoys seeing the leaves change colors. It's less muddy than the spring, so he's not constantly mopping his life away.

as for stuff to know ahead of time, yes there are a few content warnings i would consider before heading in!! this excerpt is taken from the official in stars and time website:

the website provides elaborations on all of the major content warnings, so if it’s a difficult subject for you, you can gauge whether you’d be comfortable or not. if anything listed above is potentially a major stressor for you, i strongly recommend checking out the explanation on the website for that specific aspect before hopping in!!

as for interesting things! i have a couple small notes:

the game features multiple instances of explicit queer representation amongst both main and background characters!! one instance of this representation is a conversation between an asexual character and an aroace character that made me tear up from how seen i felt while experiencing it

the worldbuilding in the game is fantastic. i LOVED the tidbits of information we got on all the different fictional cultures present in the game, both the good sides and the bad. it also deeply explores how one’s culture influences and shapes one as a person from multiple angles, positive and negative alike

there used to be one singular bird in dormont that peeped in english instead of piou-ing in french but it got removed :( farewell sweet peeper

wander <--> peepers bodyswap thoughts

the concept of a woy bodyswap thing has been taking over my mind lately…specifically between wander and peepers. they’re the most interesting option i think!!! they have a lot of parallels i feel but they don’t often get explored which is a shame because i love them. and i feel you can do more with them than other potential bodyswaps

read more is a bunch of thoughts i have about this concept!!! directly copied from a twitter threads i wrote about it so they’re a bit disjointed i don’t feel like writing anything more coherent at the moment

sylvia would recognize that wander isn’t himself like Right Away and would have some Fun tormenting peepers (psychologically. she would not harm a hair on wander’s head) and pretending that she Doesn’t know. (he might try to play the part of wander to idk gain info? try to capture them or something ?) but peepers might still figure out that she does. when this happens (or when sylvia gets tired of messing with him) they team up to grab wander and try to change the two back

now, on wander’s end. of course he’s going to take advantage of the swap as MUCH as he can. of course he’s going to try getting back to his own body! eventually!! but this is a huge opportunity to get close to hater as his Actual Best Friend!!! and to try his best to influence hater to do more good. lots of silly shenanigans unfold.

NOW. one of the aspects of this i REALLY find interesting. is how their luck shakes out

i’m not quiet about how much wander’s luck interests me. probability manipulation wander my beloved. whether it’s inherent to him, mysterious creature that he is, has something to do with the hat or both, i Like It A Lot. peepers lacks this luck—he’s a common victim to all the slapstick humor. but since they’ve swapped bodies, this is changed for them

peepers now has wander’s luck to protect him and wander loses it. and just WAUGGHH imagine how peepers feels the first time he notices this—when normally he’d fall square on his head he lands gracefully on his feet. where he’d get hit by whatever object makes most sense it narrowly avoids him. Suddenly he’s not a punching bag anymore. incredible

and on wander’s end—the exact opposite. wander is rarely on the receiving end of slapstick compared to the rest of the cast, and now he could get a Ton of it. idk! the concept just!! intrigues me!!! i want to know how he’d deal with all of this

it’s all fun and games at first but honestly i feel like it Could stress him out a good amount. especially considering he doesn’t have sylvia or (importantly) his hat who often ground him when he’s getting anxious. dude He Doesn’t Have His Hat!!! what is wander gonna do when he realizes peepers can’t function without heaps of coffee. for peepers this whole thing could actually be kind of a break. wander is going through Hell lacking his normal coping mechanisms. DOES ANYONE ELSE SEE MY VISION

I don't tend to follow people because I'm mentally ill (BPD is not happy if I miss my partner's posts and everything is buried by the photosensitivity blog since I follow it to make sure all tags are on outreach posts). I'm also pretty scared to interact with people in close ways generally. I keep pretty mainly to myself because of my mental illness sort of makes me like a ticking time bomb and if I get into a community and call something out it goes south fast. Too hard to be around in a community and too hard to be around outside of one. There's plenty more stuff on these topics I would suggest if you have specific topics in mind. It's just nearly midnight and I need to sleep.
