this really shouldn't surprise me at this point but GOD the canadian government is such a bunch of fucking spineless losers. the response to the most recent petition just came back and literally nothing has changed since 3 months ago
they couldn't even extend the barest minimum amount of sympathy to victims of an ongoing genocide without first prefacing it with a whole big paragraph about how Hamas are evil murderous terrorists who are unfit to govern and how the Israelis are totally justified in attacking them. the hypocrisy in their accusations is inexplicable after everything we've seen, especially after everything the IOF have proudly bragged about and posted evidence of to social media. I swear it's like there's some alternate-reality version of all these events that's only visible to politicians and they're basing all their decisions on THAT instead, because I cannot imagine releasing such a cold and bafflingly inaccurate statement like this AFTER the ICJ ruling was already finished. genuinely how can anyone be this dense over and over and still be seen as capable leadership. this country is such a joke

My friend dragged me back into hetalia but I offer you- in-universe meme thought of just Alfred's tiktok. He's linking an 40 page google doc of Matt's crimes in his bio. Gilbert also has one but it's literally just Britney Broski's tiktok but Gilbert.
haha, I've had the headcanon for awhile that Alfred is legally not allowed to use tiktok or any other social media site that isn't American-owned and operated. there's already a federal law banning installation of tiktok (specifically tiktok, not just foreign social media) on government devices, and imo re: hetalia Alfred would be explicitly included in that bill. it would be the' No TikTok on Government or Alfred F. Jones's Devices Act' lol. sorry baby boy, the Senate said NO.
he could have other social media though, and he's probably a very regular user. he also likes to livestream a lot; he'll go down to the National Mall in DC and basically do a livestream tour of the Smithsonian and federal buildings/monuments etc. and the zoo. and wherever the hell else he feels like provided the Department of Defense doesn't yell at him for it.
also he has a podcast with Matthew except instead of it being a proper podcast in a studio, it's just a recording of their conversation during fishing trips. one episode was two hours' worth of Alfred trying to convince Matthew to go catfishing with just his bare hands or, as it is regionally known, noodling. I think Matthew would prefer the bio link to a 40 page document of his crimes tbh.
I can't comment on the latter for Gilbert because I don't have tiktok and don't know any tiktok content creators ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I like to portray Gilbert as largely blind, so I'd have to go pester the visually impaired community with questions before answering because I'm really not sure the details of how some social media sites compare to others when it comes to accessibility.

The disrespect this show gets on a daily basis, from the production to the network(s) to even the pirates who prefer to rip shows like *checks notes* Big Brother Canada (same group)...
I wouldn't be calling them out if I hadn't done this myself, by the way. People who have never ripped a damn thing can stay in their lane. I have earned my stripes, I'm not someone who wants to talk shit about those who do this, and I understand the process involved. The webrips are a different story, as they are uploaded by Amazon whenever. The HDTV rips should be uploaded on time, shortly after the network airs the show, and it's the same process as it always has been to rip them. Uploading HDTV rips after the webrips has no value whatsoever, unless someone cares that much about the promo, which of course CityTV doesn't care enough to upload themselves, proving once again what a shitty network they are.
Hudson and Rex has an international fanbase, it shouldn't be so difficult to be able to watch it as an international fan in 2024.

i do thing it's mighty rich of that recent documentary on joe henderson to call him the "last arctic explorer" in relation to how he works his dogs when there are plenty of indigenous arctic mushers working their dogs in the traditional way without peddling inaccurate and often harmful breed mythology but that's just me.

interesting part of succession is the motif of transit. botched journeys, journeys that end nowhere—for all there is said about the haunted house stuff, there’s no one location you can call the epicenter of the haunting. the absence of an epicenter is almost the haunting itself. logan and ewan as children are left adrift in the atlantic when their boat’s engines give out, and have to stay silent. then logan builds a company literally named to be a kind of navigation—waystar—and sells cruises, a type of transit that has no goal but entertainment and that ends back where you started. the employees who die on the cruises mean nothing because they exist nowhere, because the journey they’re on and the location they find themselves in don’t really exist in a way that’s meaningful (in the same way that capitalism makes real things false, makes humans into bodies and numbers).
kendall's waiter dies in transit—no real people involved. then logan dies in the air, and even though he is repeatedly held up as the best example of what capital calls a "real person", his death is impossible for his children to believe, because it happened nowhere. and so logan succumbs to the very fate it's possible he was trying to avoid when creating waystar—that quiet, lonely, powerless thing in the hull of a ship that's floating nowhere. the absence of an epicenter is the haunting itself—no one is ever missing.

canada getting into a drunken brawl attending some hockey game and, through some specific circumstances, having to call england to come pick him up on bail
canada: *sitting in fetal position in police station cell, hiding his face and wishing he could just die*
england: *standing outside the cell with his arms folded, exasperated but honestly somewhat amused it’s canada he’s gotta come pick up from jail*
