#Some of these have lore for an AU project I've been turning around in my head

Tell us more about le cartoon version of Raincode you have please.
Like of other characters appearing and more dynamics, including episodes.
oh BABY you're in for a treat!!!
i have a whole google doc planned out for this thing, despite me having no animation experience gjgkhkh... this is gonna be the Public Lore Dump Post btw, and spoilers for all of rain code will be under the cut.
so the concept for this whole thing came about while watching the animations of youtuber OkayScreamingNow. super cool animation btw, their "psycho teddy" animation moderately blew up but i'm a huge fan of their "everybody likes you" video.
between watching those, a ton of aimkid videos, wince media's meat bun song, and nicktendo's mighty b review, i started feeling really nostalgic for mid-late 2000s animation, the stuff i grew up on. growing up creepie, yin yang yo, kenny the shark, all these were shows i adored as a kid. so, combined with my current rain code fixation, this little au came to be!
the general conceit of this au is that "Master Detective Archives" is a 2008 animated children's program that lasted for 20 episodes and is majority lost media. only a couple episodes exist in the bowels of shitty piracy sites, and even then those sites keep getting taken down. the more screenshots and concept art i make, the more is "revealed" about the show.
one of the things that interests me the most about children's media is how people worked around the censors. a lot of people are familiar with the story of the ren and stimpy adult party cartoon. for those who aren't familiar, when john "god's mistake" kricfalusi created an adult oriented reboot of ren and stimpy, the show was dogshit. with the new ability to rely on the crutch of whatever grossout sexual humor it wanted, it became a massive stain on john k's career (he has had other horrific stains both before and after apc, but i need to stress, no one liked apc).
for a more positive example, i love pretty much all of jhonen vasquez's work, but i find the humor and even some of the horror of invader zim to be more interesting than the same stuff in jthm, because iz was working under far stricter standards and practices.
what i'm trying to get at is that i enjoy the challenge of seeing how i can take concepts and make them more kid-friendly while still keeping the intrigue and interest the concepts originally had. i worked at a summer camp in 2022, and the driving force behind this little project was "keeping rain code camp-appropriate, but also keeping it interesting".
this ethos will hopefully explain some of the Big Changes i made to the story and characters. i do want to stress that i do not think i am improving on the original work. i think rain code is a story that, inherently, works better as an m-rated, gritty, cyberpunk-y murder mystery. i've just always been uniquely fascinated by this particular genre shift.
so, first major change: nocturnal detective agency has turned into nocturnal detective academy. this is a place where young minds, particularly those with supernatural powers, go to hone their craft. or at least... it was. now it's run exclusively by three people: headmaster Zange Eraser, school nurse and therapist Melami Goldmine, and teacher (and everything else) Yakou Furio.
i grew up with a book series called school of fear, which was about a small group of kids with severe phobias being sent to help conquer their fears at a highly rated school. however, it was actually just a kooky old lady and her massive mansion, and while she helped the kids get over their fears, she did it in unorthodox and occasionally darkly humorous ways. i remember a scene in the books where she put the claustrophobe and the kid afraid of death in a coffin for a few hours, and while that is absolutely NOT how exposure therapy works, the idea of a school that's just a few adults running a lowkey scam out of their house has always tickled my funny bone.
so the nda is a school, teaching detective skills and the like. of course, because yakou is my beautiful failwife, he mostly just sends his students out into the city of Kanai Ward to do their own investigative work and report back with what they've learned... as long as they don't get in trouble with Hecksmile or his goons, at least!
yeah, the other big change is that the peacekeepers are more like team rocket than corrupt cops. while i agree that the police suck, and a lot of older cartoons seem to share that sentiment (even some newer ones like gravity falls), having all the villains be evil, corrupt cops seems like a recipe to get s&p on your ass. so now, the cops just don't do anything, and Hecksmile and his goons just wreak havoc whenever they feel like it.
(i've already explained the hecksmile bit in a previous post, but i dont think any of the other names would need changing. maybe if this was the 90s, desuhiko and fubuki would get their names changed to something more eurocentric, but this isn't the 90s and that stuff was cringe even back then.)
there are only seven students at the academy, and i've de-aged these characters to be more relatable to the target audience: our main character yuma, halara, desuhiko, fubuki, vivia, pucci, and aphex. i'll detail them a bit here, because yakou, zange, and melami can all stay pretty similar (actually, melami doesn't randomly feel up strangers to get their clothing measurements anymore, but that's a pretty minor change).
yuma is still our main character, acting as the straight man and audience surrogate. the whole "number one" twist isn't really a thing with how this whole plot is set up, so his awkward and generally "scrunkly" attitude from the game is his natural state here. though none of the ages of the characters are specified, he's often called out as the youngest detective, probably in his preteens or early teenagehood. his coalescence is used for a lot of teamwork-based solutions to problems, but he isn't that great at actual mystery-solving.
this is where shinigami comes in! in the first episode, after some hijinks, yuma accidentally summons a death god. fortunately, he summons a teenage death god. she can only appear in her cool human form in her summoner's dreams, she can't interact with anyone in the physical world except her summoner, and she doesn't even have her reaper's license yet! regardless, she likes having a friend, so she helps yuma see things from different perspectives. i figured death spirits wouldn't be off the table, exactly (i mean, look at billy and mandy), but i think there's a certain humor in a death god not being able to do any soul reaping. i like to think she talks about it like her driver's license. "ugh, i'm not allowed to reap any souls until i'm 16 thousand years old! i'm only 14 thousand!!!" because of her teenagerdom, her human form is going to be far less sexualized. also because i think her canon outfit is a little ugly.
halara doesn't change much from canon. very mysterious and intimidating. no one knows their gender because everyone's too afraid to ask (and to find out, you'd have to pay them about $100 in cash). they still love cats but have an allergy to them, they still don't trust people, etc.
desuhiko changes a lot from canon. he's less actively creepy and more of a wannabe romantic. he has a tendency to fall for grown women, although he has absolutely no chance with any of them. this is played for laughs.
fubuki is another character who doesn't change much from canon. obscenely rich and super out of touch with everything around her. has occasional bursts of intelligence for comedy.
vivia is still everyone's favorite emo sadboy, writing poetry in the fireplace. his passive suicidal ideation, though interesting to explore in media made for adults, is very dangerous to put in a children's show, so we're nixing that. instead, he's just real sleepy and goth. he's also the least interested in doing actual detective work, so when he and yuma are investigating together, it gives yuma a chance to take the lead.
pucci doesn't change much from canon, but admittedly, we don't know too much about her. she's sensitive to noise, very thoughtful and introspective, but very awkward around people being nice to her.
and aphex. what to say about aphex. i don't like aphex for a number of reasons (anyone who played with jpn audio can back me up on this one), but the idea of someone who is initially violent and cruel becoming your (still somewhat violent and cruel) ally is a fun character trope to me. my go-to example is buford from phineas and ferb, and i think that's the role aphex would play. initially a threat, but eventually becomes softer and more well-developed. well, if the show got more seasons.
and that's our main cast! i could talk about kurumi, makoto, and martina, as i have a lot of cool ideas for them, but i have been writing this for like an hour and i think i need to chill ahaha... ty for the ask!!!

For the DCA fandom question thingie: 1, 5, 9, 16, 19, 20!
Thank you for the ask and the questions to answer from it! ^-^
how did you get here?
I'm a long standing FNAF fan! (not THE longest since I got into the fandom around late 2016 early 2017 just around when SL came out or a smidge before it really…) And when SB game out at first, from the trailer's at least; I wasn't TOO keen on the DCA's or how things would end up with the game, it was pretty out there to me. BUT! When it finally game out and watching GTLive play through it the daycare section (And Moon's part in partically) really drew my attention, was-and still is- my favorite part of the game, I grew attached to them and it grew from there!
I already had a FNAF special interest and in turn grew one for th DCA specifically as well!
if you make content, what's your favorite piece you've contributed?
Oh dear…this is a tough one….I'll start with written first It'd be a tie between 'System Overload' and 'Pretty Moon?' My first and 4th works with the DCA's they hold a bit of sentimentality.
As for drawing…While a bit of an Au drawing, this illustration of J-tol Moon (Moo) I just really love how they turned out ^-^ (Reminder to please use they/them for Moo!)
Tumblr media
what do you think of the dca's canon appearance? Scary? Cute? Something else?
I think they look neat! All the little details are fascinating and it makes curious how they would function if they had existed in the real world!
Along with that I generally have a fondness for celestal themed things (suns, moons, stars, clouds) along with star and striped patterns, I just think they're really neat, so the DCA's design really fits these lil things I enjoy! Andddddd……..Moon's design reminds me an itsy bitsy bit of little porcelain clowns I collect so that's neat!
what's something in the fandom you'd like to see more of?
That's hard to say…theres so, so, sooooo many wonderful things already in the fandom and so much wonderful creators and creations! Always new ideas and new twists on ideas, its amazing to see!
Maybe more….I wouldn't say crossovers….but more stories and other creations with the DCA's and older fnaf games and characters! I don't tend to see this very often but I LOVE all of FNAF and I love getting to see the DCA's interacting with previous games characters and lore and making twists so the DCA are appart of older games, like new timelines and all that its just so cool to see!
do you think you'd actually get along with the dca if you met them irl?
Ignoring the fact a first meeting irl with…any of them would….not be good (many reasons…. :' D) While I haven't watched HW2 yet I have the jist of things from it and…Sun? Maybe?
But…no strong guarentee….bit more likely with Moon but….also iffy cause…its Moon.
Eclipse tho, I'd probably have the best chance to get along with them (I have…been told by friends i am 'eclipse-core' and come across as similiar vibes to them at times?) So one yes, the other two….iffy unfortunately. (I'm moreso meaning on their end, I would Irl be cool with em all personality wise, but whether THEY would with me….less so :' D)
free space! talk about whatever's on your mind
Let's see let's see...While I will admit to having been a wee bit distracted with other fandoms past little bit, my love for the DCA and the fandom has not died out!
I've still been engaging in the fandom if a bit more...out of sight such as with some fun little projects with beloved friends both with the PDC au blog (tho limited on there >_<) and other things I can't say quite yet!
And a lovely little blog that.....well if you know of it and know it's me behind it....good on you for figuring it out! Unfortunately that little lovely is one you'll have to find on your own!
And while im a tad slow, I have been picking away at working on things for LSAU lots to do, lots to do before i can get into the fun stuff and start showing it off properly tho!
I suppose last but not least...I'll leave with this!
This wonderful story by ShivaCheshire! I've recently started reading it and its just really well written and captures the DCA beautifully! Would highly recommend (and its even better if you're looking for a long fic!)

Current WIPs - September 2023
I last did one of these in March, this year, and truthfully, not an awful lot has changed except the word counts on each fic. Although I don't think I shared those last time. I probably won't this time either because I haven't figured out the totals - some fics are spread across multiple files. Whatever I call these WIPs here, is probably just a working title. Even if I know what I'm gonna call the piece, I don't think I'm gonna share that yet. I think I'll talk about the bigger files in a little more detail and maybe briefly mention the smaller ideas as I remember them. So, if you're interested in what I'm working on, this is the post for you!
I have three VampireAUs. Not including my first attempt at writing one. I don't think I'll ever work on that again but, never say never. I've kinda developed my own sorta vampire rules that I use across all three of these. Nothing too out of the box but, I try to be consistent with my subjects. ~ Vampire AU the First
In which Lux, Mikey and Gerard are vampires. Mikey has moved with the times and Gerard’s a little stuck in the past. Lux was a modern day Human until she was recently turned and Shelly is a Human.
This is the AU in which my OTPtober 2022 - Insecurity piece is set. I haven't touched this one for some time, but it makes me 🥰 - probably because of the old fashioned ness. ~ Reverse!Vampire AU
In which Shelly is our Vampire, Mercy is her Human familiar and Gerard is a struggling artist.
I've been working on this one quite a lot recently. I enjoy this one. Maybe it's the lore I'm playing with, maybe it's the dynamic. I don't know.
~ VampireAU/Fic the Third
Gerard is our Vampire, Shelly is our Human, and he's looking for a snack.
Yeah, I'm enjoying this one too. Again, I think it's the dynamic. It's not quite as simple as I've written up there, but that's okay, I can't tell you everything. I don't think this is going to get as long as my other two, I hope to have this finished to post at some point. Hopefully before Halloween! I think I even have a title too. I have VAU4 (VampireAU4) too - that's not very long, and I think I wanna rewrite what I've done to change the tone of it. I don't have enough details to really say much more about it. I ALSO have something labelled as Vampires&Werewolves AU, which... Seems very Twilight, putting the two creatures against each other with a Human in the middle, but... Also, not Twilight because there's no fucking sparkling. What else is there? OH! How could I forget!!! ~ The "Normal" AU
The story of Shelly in the MCR-U basically. Anything labelled as this is in the same timeline/universe as The Origin Story.
This is spread across... Four??? Maybe five (I'm not sure, some of them have subtitles - like the Origin Story was a subtitle of The Normal AU) additional files, not including said Origin Story. I don't know if I'll ever get around to posting everything I write for this, or if I'll just post the Big Milestones. I mean, there's a lot of little scenarios in those files. A lot of words. But I do plan on getting around to the Milestones at some point. But of course it's massive - this spans the entirety of Shelly's career with MyChem. From when she meets them (as you've read) to pretty much present day, almost.
~ The Danger Days fic aka The Sandbox Fic
A... Can you call it a spin off? of my Wife's Danger Days fic, picking up a little after where that left off so I could throw Shelly into that world.
I think I started this just before or during writing Call Me Babe For The Weekend, as a side project, and as a "what if?" kinda deal. Though I think I only wrote some sorta ending to that... Last year? The file for this thing is absolutely huge and I'm a little alarmed by it. I have to figure out how I'm going to present this, because I don't think it fits your stereotypical story format. It would fit an episode format a bit better, really. I don't know, thoughts need to be thunk.
~ The Stripper Fic Not my first Stripper AU, actually. The first is handwritten in, I think it's five notebooks on the shelf behind my desk. That one is, I think over 100k. I don't remember, I haven't looked at the word count totals for some time. Anyway! There's a little more to this one than just... Gerard being a stripper. I took inspiration from something else I read once. Haven't touched this one in a while either.
~ The Succubus Fic
In which Shelly is a succubus and Gerard is her... Victim?
This one is labelled as a "fic" instead of an AU because I do not want it to get as long as some of my other files. It hasn't reached 20k yet so there's a chance I can kinda wrap it up under 30k. Maybe I can do additional chapters later on or whatever but... I don't know.
~ The CollegeAU - also known as the PolyCollegeAU
“He could share us. We could share him.” He watched her raise an eyebrow. “If he’s into me too. Or, if not, and he’s willing, we could share you?”
Oh man, this started out as me attempting to write a threesome, BEFORE the Birthday Fic happened. It ended up in timeout for a long time because Frank wouldn't behave, thus making the inevitable choice between the two really hard! And then, along comes my wonderful wife and is all OKAY BUT WHAT IF and boom, it came out of time out and gained... A lot of words. (Speaking of the Birthday Fic - I have a half finished deleted scene from that kicking around too.)
~ It's A Compliment I Swear I wrote the ending for this last year, July 2022. It's... 😬 Yeah. I might get in trouble for that ending. I just have to get to that point. I have an odd scene in a different file, and a few notes in that file too, but I need to sit down and sorta think about it some more. What else do we have? A HighSchoolAU, something I've dubbed the ChildhoodFriendsAU - which is kinda like the HighSchoolAU but... Happier in aspects. I have some blurbs for ExchangeStudentAUs - both sides (ie; in which Shelly is one, and in which Gerard is one - that second one is fun because I get to play with linguistics/language differences.) I have something labelled The MultiVerse which is... If I can get my act together, might be Shelly's birthday gift next year. Unless she gives me other ideas. I also have a file of blurbs/discussion about "What if everyone was a teacher?" - I don't think that'll get a lot of screentime, but it was something to distract me, something to think about and be silly about for a bit. The New AU is similar to that, I think. Though I might do something with it one day because it's fun. The GoogleDoc is only like, 5k so there's not a lot to talk about currently. It's a bit different with some similar to that, I think. Though I might do something with it one day because it's fun. The GoogleDoc is only like, 5k so there's not a lot to talk about currently. It's a bit different with some similar, familiar aspects but hey, it's still fun.
The Half Baked Idea is about 10k and has more of a series of plot points. It's a little ✨mystical✨ and supernatural, I think I shared some lines from it a few months ago, but I can't remember off of the top of my head. Again, a bit different but because there still isn't that much of it, I don't have more to say. The last thing is a file called What If? and that is just waiting to be fleshed out and written up. I believe that's kinda a spin off of something I've already written, and I might take that outline and write it properly over NaNoWriMo this year. I'm not sure about that yet though. I think that's it, actually. There might be a file here and there with words in that I haven't touched for Quite Some Time, but these are the main files and ideas I skip between here and there.

Role Requeue Status Update
So, as mentioned in my last post, I figured it'd make sense to elaborate on where my thoughts are with the Role Requeue AU, a project mostly focused around gameplay changes (with some lore changes to help explain some of the more drastic overhauls) to refit every existing hero into a brand new role!
Let's start out with a recap of the existing reworks, either the ones I've made myself or those suggested by others (which is so far a list of... one):
Tracer: Support. The poster girl of the main game was the first character I used to explain this AU's concept. While she hasn't gotten a formal post detailing her new kit, I explained most of my ideas in the original post. Her trip in the slipstream ended up with her gaining the ability to rewind not just her own condition through time, but also the ability to share this with others, healing wounds by rewinding the body to a state before the wound.
Reaper: Tank. The second character detailed in the initial post, the menace known as Reaper is being reimagined from a whispy specter to an almost liquid mass of a being, draining the life of his victims to be a resilient menace. Like Tracer, I didn't actually detail his kit, and I'm actually struggling slightly to do so, so expect his own post later too.
Widowmaker: Tank. Complementing Reaper with Overwatch's most iconic duo of longest-standing villains, Widowmaker is also given a major character overhaul to make her a terrifying type of tank. While I had her marked down as a Tank in the initial post with a vague idea in my head to take inspiration from a scrapped character from official concept art, @daylightcommand3 came in with a basically perfect kit to match the concept, imagining her using long cybernetic spider legs to move around, and web-based abilities to ensnare her prey and defend her team in the process. As far as I'm concerned for now, their post on her is as good as "official" for the AU.
Mei: Tank. Hey can you tell my favorite and least favorite roles yet. In seriousness, I don't think this one's much of a shock. Taking her already defensive playstyle up a notch, Mei is now outfitted with a cryogenic power armor suit to give herself the durability and stature needed for the Tank role. This was the first one to get an official separate post, detailing her entire new kit, so she's functionally "complete" outside of artwork.
Zenyatta: Damage. A more hands-on (and feet-on-the-ground) approach to Zenyatta's already damage-heavy playstyle, Zenyatta is now a melee-ranged fighter, with a variety of abilities letting him to get some damage in from a distance, get in close, finish off a target, and get out safely. The most drastic rework yet, but one I'm still fairly proud of. While his visual changes are less drastic than Mei's, I'd still like to give him some art eventually.
Sojourn: Tank. Last character to get a formal post as of now, and the first OW2 hero (let alone post-OW1-launch hero) to boot. With more high-power cybernetics to bulk up her build, and a bigger, badder Railgun she's now built to weild, Sojourn's effectively taken Zarya's role of "big lady with big gun who takes big damage and hits back with aforementioned big gun powered up by said big damage". While her post had more to do with the concept design process and lacked any real lore changes, I don't exactly have drastic story changes in mind for her besides "she buff now", so once I get a design out for her I'll be relatively content with where she's at.
And that's... six. Look I swear I have more ideas than just turning DPS into Tanks. Granted, I have more DPS I want to turn into Tanks, but that's besides the point here.
Let's go over some minor reworks first, ones that won't require major visual overhauls. I mentioned these in what was basically my second post on the AU, but here I'll keep things more focused:
Doomfist... is awkward. I mean, the devs beat me to the punch (ha) on this one, he's one of two characters who've been officially "requeued", and unlike the other rapidly approaching instance of this, I agree with them on the change. So... I'm at a crossroads of how I wanna be lazy. Do I just use old Doomfist's kit, requeuing him from Tank back to Damage, or do I accept his current kit as a requeue from Damage to Tank that happened officially a year before the AU itself. I like Tank Doomfist more than DPS Doomfist, both on a thematic level and a gameplay level (mostly in terms of fighting against him), so uh... current compromise is that he's a tank still, but he has Rising Uppercut instead of Seismic Slam. Somebody wins here.
Symmetra is the other hero who's changed roles in the actual game, and while her history in both roles has been tumultuous (as explained in that other post), I have a relatively solid idea for how I'd change her kit to make her actually work as a proper Support. I'll detail this later, but just know for now that it doesn't require any major design or lore changes. Maybe a minor design change would be fun, making her main color yellow like in her initial art would be fun, but her light blue is pretty iconic to her now so I'm not sure.
Sombra, a hot topic lately who looks like she goes to hot topic, is the subject of the game's most recent major rework. So recent in fact that it's going live in literally a day from now. Her new kit definitely gives me ideas for how I'd tackle the Support iteration of her I've been considering for a while, but not by too drastic a measure. Again, no visual redesign or lore changes planned.
Echo is the last one of this bunch, another of the lovely ladies who I think should've been Support this whole time. Echo's a very funny hero to conceptualize reworks with considering her literal defining character trait is, like a certain silly little jester, doing anything. This is another one I've considered ideas for in the past, and while it definitely needs work I think I was on the right track. Once again, no story or design changes, she already looks and acts so damn much like a support it actively makes me a little mad.
So that's another easy four, only three of which I think really warrant posts of their own. 10 down, which is only about 25% of the cast jesus okay
Moving swiftly on, now I'm gonna go over the rest of the cast I have ideas for, starting with the (former) Tanks:
D.va: Damage. Considering my main issue with putting Tanks into other roles is size, D.va is an obvious first choice for a Tank to rework. Just make her not be in the mech and bam, already halfway there. Spoiler alert but D.va is probably gonna be one of the next few ideas I make a post for, and might be the first to get art to explain her new look! I'm excited for this one.
Orisa: Support. On the other hand, Orisa is a seven foot tall robot. I have... a couple ideas on how I plan to address this, but given she has effectively two whole kits to pull ideas from, the abilities themselves won't be the issue. Design... might be a little weirder, so another one that kind of needs art to explain.
Junker Queen: Support. While JQ is almost certainly the skinniest tank as is, it pains me to admit that she'll probably need to get shrunk a little bit to fit any other role. While it'd be easy to convert her aggro playstyle into pure DPS, I think it'd be both more fun and more thematically appropriate to make her into a Support. Considering this was the role I expected her to end up in for years, it's gonna be fun going back to those old ideas with the context of her existing kit. I have some more design changes to fit this new role, including a new weapon and some more "regal" attire, at least by Junkertown standards.
Ramattra: Support. Again, Ramattra's Omnic form is one of the smallest tanks as-is, so a minor shrink and the removal of Nemesis Form should already bring us halfway there. This is another one that feels thematically appropriate, and again, was kind of what I was expecting with the "Null Sector guy" that was teased all the way back in early 2019. Definitely leaning into his "mage" design inspirations here, and I'm not even sure I'd want to change his design all too much, but I'm not too certain how I want his kit to work yet. We'll see though!
Wrecking Ball: Damage. Listen, Ball is already a DPS that just sucks at killing things and is slightly better at not dying. sometimes. Hammond is also the smallest playable character outside of the mech, so just... give him a smaller mech. This is just gonna be D.va again but I like him less.
Roadhog: Damage. This one I'm not too certain on, but like... it's Roadhog, he's gotta be a DPS, right? He can't be a support at least. I don't like the idea of shrinking him in general, but according to one conspiracy theory I remember from before the 5v5 reveal, it's something that was officially considered. This might end up being more of a rebalance than a full-on rework, but I'm withholding further judgement until we see what his actual rework coming in a month or so is gonna be like, that might jostle the brain juices.
That's all the Tanks I really have ideas for, the rest I'm struggling with, mostly because of the size issue. I'm also torn between Damage and Tank for some of the remaining ones, but I'll get into that more later.
Now though, time for the Damage heroes I have ideas for:
Bastion: Tank. I mean... come on. He used to literally turn into a tank. He's on par in height with some of the tallest existing tanks. The only issue is... I don't exactly know how to make him play like a tank? All his current abilities are pure damage, and the "tankiest" part of his kit are his passive and his old self heal, which while potentially useful parts of a tank kit, don't exactly make a complete tank package. This one's gonna require some basically brand new abilities, but I think it'll be worth it in the end.
Ashe: Tank. Somebody might get where I'm going with this one, but uh... yeah, I'm gonna have fun with it. Probably the most drastic playstyle overhaul of the whole AU, which shouldn't be surprising when I see how I handle them. I think I have most of this kit planned out too, and it actually shouldn't require any new design work, so expect this one relatively soon.
Cassidy: Support. Yeah this one's actually gonna be another fairly minimalist one, my main idea is to trade his weapon with a similar feel but obviously with healing capabilities. His overall niche would actually be pretty close to Ana's, which I'm sure is gonna make some lore fans happy. I'm also stealing his mechanics from one of the supports from my original hero shooter concept, War Bots, just trading out one utility ability for Combat Roll being largely unchanged outside of how it interacts with his main weapon. Oh, and deadeye, War Bots doesn't have ults so I gotta figure out a replacement for that. Also possibly expect this one pretty soon.
Torbjorn: Support. This is another one like Bastion (fitting enough I suppose) where the broad idea is there, but I don't know the execution. He's also like Echo in the sense that his broad character archetype means he can do basically whatever, so it's just figuring out what engineer capabilities he needs in order to work. This might be another one where I steal from a War Bots character fairly heavily, since that cast also features a support who's a fire-themed mechanic. This one might not be too hard either all things considered.
There's some more I left out so far, but we'll get to them later with the other stragglers that are in TBD limbo, but for the rest of my semi-solid ideas let's wrap up with the Supports.
For this one though, I'm gonna do a sort of lightning round deal, since I honestly haven't thought about these ones too much.
How fast of a lightning round?
Lucio, Ana, Moira, Baptiste, Kiriko, Illari: Damage. Yeah. Look, we need more Damage heroes, and the guys with guns are the easiest to work with. I don't have much to say about these, since like... it's damage. Just dumb down their existing mechanics to do damage instead of healing... I mean not with Lucio, but that's the gist for the others. I have some fun ideas for Moira (who I also considered for Tank but I fear that'd overlap with Reaper too much), but again, there's not much to say about these.
Lifeweaver: Tank. I mean it's Lifeweaver, "damage" is the last thing that comes to mind with him. He's also got the most health and height out of any of the current Supports, plus his abilities are already primarily defensive and protective. I'm not sure on specifics for his kit, but the general idea visually is to bulk him out with some extra thematically appropriate armor to give him a bit more width, but to be honest he's already borderline tank sized, so there's not that much extra he needs.
So yeah, that's everybody who I have at least some half decent idea for. Let's look at the stragglers:
Reinhardt: ...look, Reinhardt is my favorite character of the cast, it makes my stomach not feel right to consider him as anything else but the big german-engineered block of meat and metal I've loved all these years. If I can give any character a free pass to not rework at all, it's him. It just hurts my heart too much to consider him getting shrunk down enough to work in either other role.
Sigma: Similar to Rein but with less emotional investment. In theory I could see him work as a Support or maybe DPS, but I'm just not sure what direction to take him in. I wouldn't be as sad to see him shrunk a bit, most of his tanky bulk comes from his shoulder pads and the fact that he's floating, plus to be honest the fact he's so excessively shredded canonically is a little jarring, so there's slimming down you could do to make him work, I just don't know for what role and how.
Winston: Fun fact, Winston is above average in size for a gorilla, even before Primal Rage! So sizing him down a bit isn't too unrealistic, but again, I don't know what direction to take him. Support could be interesting, the last War Bots support could be used as inspiration given their shared electrical aptitude, and it fits his personality better than DPS, but I'm just not too sure, especially considering the overall lower amount of DPS in this roster right now. Ironic, I know.
Zarya: Again, lacking great ideas, and I'm torn between DPS and Support for her. She has big gun and big muscles, but her bubbles allow her to be a lot more of an "enabler" Tank normally, so I might want to extrapolate on that. I'm leaning Damage though because again, kind of low on those so far, so she's probably just ending up with a (relatively) smaller gun and new abilities to replace her bubbles. She still might end up a relatively big and tanky DPS, like Bastion is normally, but it's the best idea I got even if it's not perfect.
Genji and Hanzo: I'm grouping these up because my initial suggestion was to swap their roles as Damage heroes with each other, but... to be frank I have no clue where I was going with that. With Genji I could see a melee tank playstyle, and for Hanzo there's some possibilities for a supportive archer playstyle, but again, there's just a major imbalance in Damage heroes relative to the main roster at this point.
Junkrat: So like. he's gotta be Support, because I don't think he's got the staying power to fit as a Tank. Honestly could be interesting, and the kit could lean a lot more into the "tinkerer" theming that I like about Junkrat normally, though that could overlap with Torbjorn now. Eh, they both constantly emit fire normally, I guess it makes sense they overlap a little.
Pharah: Another splodey person, this one flies. Honestly her above-average height and armor makes it so Tank is the obvious choice, I just struggle to think of defensive abilities that'd make sense for her. I might copy my own homework here again, though this time for my notes for how I'd turn the TF2 mercs into Overwatch heroes. I'll elaborate more later but I put Soldier (TF2) as a tank there, which I might take some of that design and put it into Pharah here.
Soldier 76: I feel like he could be the replacement for Baptiste in this roster, with healing rockets instead of healing grenades, and biotic field instead of regenerative burst, but that feels... too easy. Maybe. I dunno, probably overthinking things. I think the way to make this feel interesting is with his characterization, which... I guess is also what makes Baptiste interesting.
Brigitte: I know Tank seems obvious for her, but... I dunno, I'm not ruling out Damage yet? The main reason I say that is because if Rein is my free pass to keep, then Brig would just be a semi clone of him. If there's room for another melee-based DPS, then I think Brigitte could fit just fine there too.
Mercy: full disclosure I just want to entertain the idea of Big Mercy. That appeals to me deeply. Damage probably makes way more sense but uhhhhh. I dunno, lemme have this. maybe. I dunno I'm not sold either way yet.
So that's everybody so far. Updated tier list to reflect the changes:
Tumblr media
And here's a less conservative list, putting people where I'd put them just based on gut instinct and cutting out my indecisiveness.
Tumblr media
So that's 12 Tanks, 13 DPS, and 13 Supports. A better split than the actual game right now, almost perfectly even between the three roles. I ain't shrinking Mauga either so hey, perfect 13/13/13 split, I solved Overwatch.
Again, if anyone has any ideas or suggestions, I'm wide open! Feel free to tag me in your own post or submit them to my ask box and I'll be sure to respond ASAP!
Hoping to get out one of my ideas soon, so stay tuned folks!

When you get this, reply with your favorite five fics that you've written, then pass it on to at least five other writers. Let’s spread the self-love!
oh what a cool thing 😭💛
I've only got 4 fics on ao3 right now but I'll pad it with something from my tumblr ramblings too fjdaskl
METAMORPHOSES - (109k+ wip) Eddie post-Kas possession recovery fic ft. Steddie hurt/comfort slow burn and the Eddie & Nancy friendship of my dreams
I think this is genuinely my favorite thing I've written so far even though it's not done yet. It feels like I've learned a piece of what it's taken to pull this together from every other thing I've written for this fandom and I'm finally finding a cohesive way to put those pieces together. Upside Down twisty turns? Character studies? Motifs and throughlines? you know the drill. I love this Eddie with my entire goddamn soul I'm so grateful to anyone who has taken the time to hang out with me in this little universe
there's blood in my ears (and a fool in the mirror) - (58k) Eddie & Max escape from the UD post S4 ft. Steddie getting to know each other pre S4
my very first ST fic, I just NEEDED to write about Eddie and Max stumbling their way into chosen family-hood and stumbled myself into making Boys Kiss along the way and although it's not as popular as some of my other stuff, I love this little world and I love my first try at playing around with UD logistics and DIY lore.
someone else's favorite song - (120k) Steve centric as he grieves the death of his mother and stumbles through the ups and downs of a FWB relationship with Eddie
This will never not have a special place in my heart, I got so much out of writing this both on a technical writing learning level and just the catharsis that always comes with writing about grief for me. I write for myself to such a degree that it still shocks me every time someone mentions connecting to this story and I am so full of gratitude that my catharsis could be yours too so just <3
that's just wasteland, baby! - (19k) Steve centric post S4 apocalyptic Hawkins ft. life affirming shower sex and buzzcut!Steve
I am always thinking about the immediate aftermath of season 4 and what kind of impact All That would have on the actual town of Hawkins, I mean we are RIFE with opportunity for good apocalyptic romance/ found family and this was my go at it. I'm really proud of managing to do something short and slice-of-life rather than accidentally writing a novel fajdskl and I had a really good time just narrowing my focus and making it a small story in such a Big setting ya know
reprogrammed au - (tumblr meta) after the end of the war with the UD, the people responsible for the NINA Project use that technology to wipe the Party's memories (at least for a little while)
If it's not already clear, I really love playing with the boundaries of what sort of unexplored set-ups exist for cool premises in the canon ST universe and this is just a further extension of that. I would love to write a longer more involved version of this, because there are just SO many avenues to take, especially with such a broad ensemble cast, and I love a good, kind of fucked up introspective moment/ any excuse to mess around with structure and unreliable narration so this is like the gold mine for me.
I have no idea who's already done this so apologies if I send out any repeats! I just haven't been scrolling as much this week because I'm busy getting my ass kicked by situations and circumstances and such woof

Welcome to the Archives!
Hello and welcome, dear reader,
If you're reading this, you've stumbled upon our little AU blog for Fullmetal Fears - a TMAxFMA AU.
Here, we'll post lore, writing tidbits, art, and answer questions! Mostly this is to prevent clogging up our main blogs and keep ideas and tidbits in one place, both for ourselves and the potential enjoyment of others who may find it interesting. This blog is currently run by Luna and Foxy, two creatives who wanted to have a bit of fun in their spare time and may have gone a bit overboard on the world-building.
A brief disclaimer: we have hopes to turn this project into a full collaborative fic at some point in the far future, though we make no promises on it, nor that we will update this blog with any sort of consistency. We will also be posting/discussing spoilers for FMA (manga, 03, and Brotherhood) and TMA, as well as the contents of the media which some readers may find disturbing. We will do our best to tag posts appropriately, but still advise you to explore our blog with caution.
With these things in mind, dear reader, we hope you stick around and enjoy what we offer to you!

Luna - Hello I'm Luna/Lunes (she/he/they depending on the day) and I am writer of many fictions. I've been a fan of FMA since I was a wee void, and TMA has basically consumed my life for the last few years. I'm here to write horrific things with a heavy douse of angst and quite a bit of silliness too. My TMA Tumblr is @thevoidcannotbefilled. Hope y'all enjoy~
Foxy - Heya, I'm Foxy - I also go by Jaybird/Jay - (they/them)! I'm a queer, disabled artist, beginner writer, and game dev just taking life one day atta time. I've loved FMA since I was a baby Foxy, and TMA basically got me through the pandemic. Both have very much colored my tastes in world-building and character-writing. You can find my Tumblr at @foxythehooligan, where I post art and collect all the silly lil things that make me happy. Stay tuned!

btw you should. tell me more about ALL of them but i will be patient, I wont ask about the secret things yet. y e  t. updates on the trip gone wrong fic? or, or, give the Most vague non description of love is a sacrament that should be taken kneeling. I know the vagueness, so like. dont even say names or fandoms, just. vibes of it i beg, confuse the masses xoxo mwah ,love you
Ok ok ok you got me. Hold on. I need to pull up the list :))) (long post ahead)
zemo fic part 2 draft - what it says on the tin, the second installement in the Ozymandias series, a story about Steve and Zemo, with lots of hurt Steve to go around. For those of you unaware, this is the first work, which is complete:
The state of the sequel is... undetermined but I am slowly chipping away at it. When I'm in the mood.
one bullet - one of the chapters of the previously mentioned fic that I actually finished and singled out. There's a gun and crying involved, is all I'm gonna say
wips 3 electric boogaloo - i'll be honest this one is a mismatch of drafts for stuff I have already written, like my Steve & Peter fic, and big chunks of trip gone wrong, which brings me to:
Trip gone wrong! That's the working title, but I think I'll settle for "The Racehorse Connection". This story has been almost finished for months - i only need to finish one more chapter and the epilogue... more than 50k is done. Unfortunately whenever I go back to this fic, I get the urge to rewrite it... which would be tedious. Anyway it's focused on Steve and Clint and there's some Hydra and aliens involved. Pretty proud of some of the bits that happen later on. Fond of this piece, if only I could finish it...
dragon rider - my samsteve dragonrider au. Mostly I pop in there to add lore/ideas/plot points instead of writing anything concrete
hurry boy, it's waiting there for you - my!!! Kittycap story!! Which for once is just pure fluff!! Mutual pining and first kiss. The good stuff.
metameowphosis - now we're getting to my breaking bad era huh. I mentioned this a few times and I tag stuff with it. Basically if Kafka's Metamorphosis and Christmas Carol had a baby - Walt is inexplicably transformed into a cat and enlists Jesse's help to turn back. And he learns things along the way. Also pretty fond of this one.
cabroncito - my secret secret messed up breaking bad fic... now with a title, but I'm afraid that's all you're getting :) well, a bunch more info i suppose: it's one of the darkest thing I've written... along with zemo fic, but this one is worse imo... to be completed soonish???
love is a sacrament that should be taken kneeling - my gale/walt fic!! Gale fixes him! That's it that's the story. Haven't gotten that much down yet but. I have some ideas.
WHEW okay that covers everything!!! Thank you for being interested i love talking about myself :)))

Fallout: 009
So, I've had this CRAZY idea knocking around in my head for years to make a crossover/AU of Fallout (in particular, 4) and because this anime has been my eternal brainrot since the early 2000's, Cyborg 009. I mean hey, if the Institute can have functional teleportation then I can throw in superpowered cyborg soldiers for funsies. This draws inspiration from multiple incarnations of the series with more emphasis placed on the 2001 “Cyborg Soldier” anime, so this is more of a retelling of that using the location and lore of FO4's Commonwealth. Also, I might have cranked up the “tragic backstory” for some of them up to 11. Things.. snowballed a little. okay maybe a lot actually, I'm so sorry to 001 in particular They are flawed, but they are still human, and they're attempting to make the best of an incredibly shit situation.
I meant for this to be an askblog-type thing that never went anywhere because I couldn't find the inspiration for art, but at this point I feel I have a metric ton of written material (the main profile document for the 00-Cyborgs, Dr. Gilmore, and the Dolphin is 25 pages long and technically still unfinished). I'm going to continue to spiff up and infodump to this sideblog, but if any y'all have a question about something you're more than welcome to ask it!
(special thanks to @gghoulishh for helping me hash out so many details! I should have started posting this years ago tbh)
Mini-profiles for the main cast below the cut:
001 Ivan Wisky
Son of pre-war Black Ghost cyberneticist Dr. Gamo Wisky, 001 is a telepathic and telekinetic psyker, the stressful process of becoming a cyborg having “unlocked” Ivan’s brain and these new abilities. Super-intelligence was the original goal, but Black Ghost was extremely pleased with this unforeseen outcome. Dr. Wisky had offered his own newborn son as a test subject but didn’t do it out of any particular love for the dying child; the only reason was because Dr. Wisky was being blamed for multiple failures on the Cyborg Soldier project and would have likely been killed for it. Despite appearances, he is a tactician on par with 008.
002 Jet Link
Having been tricked into getting into a vehicle with Black Ghost agents inside, Jet was taken for the Cyborg Soldier project right off the streets of New York. He's one of the most shell-shocked out of the original generation of 00-Cyborgs; having the living, breathing city of New York fresh in his memory as if it was only just moments ago. He’s unable to believe his home, his country, has been reduced to an irradiated and dilapidated ruin. However, this new wastelander life still feels like being back in his old gang; fighting for survival every day with a group of united people, just with the ability to fly at high speeds with rocket legs.
003 Francois Arnoul
Extremely perceptive to others even before being remodeled, Francois now has the ability to detect life through walls and at great distances through audio cues and x-ray vision. Due to her sound-based abilities she is also an excellent mimic and ventriloquist, and can store then use any animal or creature roar she hears to incite fear and confusion. A pre-war French-Canadian citizen, her brother was the last person to see her during her kidnapping, though now she has no family but the Cyborgs. The dissonance of the present time to her memories of a simpler time causes her great distress, but Francois has become a master of bottling her emotions to not worry her team.
004 Albert Heinrich
More machine than man, some mistake Albert for a prototype android with his assortment of mechanical parts and very little actual flesh left. Legally blind due to how the sensor implants in his eyes didn't take too well, but he can still see with them. He was taken by Black Ghost agents after a routine flight home with his fiance went horribly awry, leaving her dead and Albert dying. Black Ghost agents found him in the wreckage and turned him into a walking arsenal. The knowledge that he shares more in common with a robobrain than his original humanity weighs heavily on him.
005 “Junior”
For those who don’t know him, many take Junior’s silence as a sign of your average Super Mutant’s below average intelligence. But somehow in the process of FEV mutation he kept his sanity, intelligence, and his humanity; unfortunately he does not remember anything about his past after the process was complete. Black Ghost, ever willing to push the envelope, modified an already strong being into an unstoppable force. Despite this, Junior is a literal gentle giant as many of the wasteland’s non-monstrous wildlife will approach him and even relax in his presence.
006 Chang Chanku
A short man, but one who could probably wrestle a potential meal into submission if he wasn’t already a walking flamethrower. Before Black Ghost took him, Chang was a Brahmin farmer and an excellent cook; he still is due to his newfound control over fire. Being a Chinese descendant of those interred in camps before the Great War, one would think that Chang needs to watch his back in the country that his ancestors once tried to invade. But the idea of “Chinese” and “American” burned in nuclear fire generations ago, and all but the most devoted to history have long since forgotten. Now, everyone is united under one banner: as survivors.
007 “Great Britain”
A pre-War actor gone ghoul, GB has seen the world gone to hell in a handbasket firsthand but that doesn't seem to have effected his cheerful demeanor. Or he just doesn't see the point in caring about it anymore. His love is still the theater life he made his career in before the Great War stole it away, particularly Shakespeare's works. His augmentation is a highly experimental, highly top secret one involving the use of nanomachine technology gained from a crashed alien mothership. This gives him active camouflage and allows him to morph his body into almost any desired shape and back using a button on his stomach that resembles a hernia. With 003 supplying sound effects they make a terrifyingly convincing combination.
008 Pyunma
The only one with real combat experience before becoming a cyborg soldier, Pyunma was once the leader of an infamous local raider group before being kidnapped by Black Ghost. As the field tactician of the group he knows how to fight, and the dirtiest ways to fight, though the team prefers to not come to that. His specialty is water combat and he is able to breathe underwater, though as the highly irradiated waters in and around Boston are a danger to what's left of his organics he has extremely high radiation resistance to compensate.
009 Joe Shimamura
The golden child and final member of the 00-Cyborg prototypes. Before Joe was taken by Black Ghost he was in the courier service, his natural speed and endurance doing him well in the dangerous expanse of the wastes. An orphan, Joe was raised by the owner of a courier service in his village and he was found to be a natural born runner. Now even that has been upgraded past the limits of the human body, which would make him one hell of a courier if Joe could go back to his old job. But his ties are with his new "family" now, having become a reluctant member of the rebel 00-Cyborgs who are now trying to right the wrongs of their creators as well as survive in an unforgiving wasteland.
Dr. Issac Gilmore
A high ranking cyberneticist of the Black Ghost organization, Gilmore defects with the rest of the cyborgs in a hoax hostage situation in order to escape Black Ghost's grasp and cope with his own guilt over what he's done. He advises the team from a distance during operations and handles all their maintenance himself. He has varying degrees of insight into the factions of the Commonwealth, such as how the Black Ghost, Institute, and even the Enclave and BoS operate. Dr. Gilmore’s knowledge is invaluable for dealing with these groups politically – and offensively if it ever has to come to that.

more stuff under the read more, because there's quite a few stuff i actually liked this year!
january
Tumblr media
this was a comm for kiz, but i think it came out pretty bomb. any hypsters who are into projmoon/projmoon fans into hypmic pspspsps --
actually i think this was my first ever piece this year, so it's interesting to see how much i've improved in over the past couple of months!
also i did some comms between feb and may to help raise some money for my relatives in the philippines, but i don't think i should post the ones i really like since the project isn't complete yet. but i think they came out bomb too, trust me -- (the volo art in my art summary is one of these comms lol)
april
Tumblr media Tumblr media
i just wanted to post these two together since they're a set LOL thank u arb for giving me flowers that aren't roses to associate with hifugen....
also here are the unblurred versions of this set lol
Tumblr media Tumblr media
may
Tumblr media
this is just one of my fave hifugen headcanons KJFSDJKJKF
gentaro about hifumi: 🙄😒😑 gentaro about hifumi, when hifumi's fangirls are around: *draping himself over hifumi* excuse me ladies, do you have any business with My man?
KJFSJKDFSJKJH
august
i think i went rly hard in august. august was really a turning point for me this year too i think, so maybe my art reflected that haha, but anyhow. i really love these
Tumblr media
everyone and their mom has done a religious jakurai art, but i wanted to do one too... the detail i rly like is the blood on his hands. because i like to headcanon that jakurai has vitiligo on his hands. i like how i incorporated that hc in this without making it too busy lol
Tumblr media
THIS ONE. HELL YEAH. this is a redraw of an older art i made for thanatos' anniversary, and i thought the first one was cool but i was like "i think i have the skills to make this even better now" and I DID!!! idk, i'm glad i could capture the horror vibes more poignantly
september
Tumblr media Tumblr media
this one is?? i don't think i made her a full reference sheet, i realized lol but i started streaming for friends because i have a bunch of game recs and no attention span to play them WKJGJKD so i decided streaming them so i could be held accountable for them would be the best way to do it LMFAO
anyways this is my pngtuber. they have no name, but she's a shopkeeper of a mysterious antique store. originally that doll on the bookshelf was gonna my pngtuber and i came up with a bunch of lore for her, but then i realized i had another oc design i really dig and was also simpler, so i revamped that for streaming FJKSDJKF but i would like to put that doll to use somehow or another. anyways if u can pinpoint all the references on the shopkeeper and their bookshelf and even her store's very existence, i love u --
catch me on twitch on sundays and mondays for mhyk and ace attorney respectively --
october
Tumblr media
as much as possible, i try to do a vanistar anniversary art because noël is my baby boy... i'm so happy with how this year's came out!! ofc there's areas that could use work, but i like the colors and lighting c:
Tumblr media
I'VE BEEN MEANING TO DO AN IBERIA AU FOR JAKUDO FOR SO LONG... probably as long as the koibito AU for hifugen, but i just haven't been able to put it into words... i'm glad i could at least do a bit of this year, and i hope one day i can manage the whole concept!! also this idea's been in my head for so long that arb managed to reveal demon designs for both jakurai and doppo, sparing me the effort of designing them myself FSJKJKKJH
Tumblr media Tumblr media
this one is also a set, so i wanted to post them together hehe again this is based off a horror rpg concept me and gianna came up together back in high school that will probably never see the light of day lol this probably doesn't surprise anyone who knows us, but these characters are based on us FKJSKJH
wah... i think my artist wrapped really covers what i have to say! quantity-wise, i'm not too happy with how much i made... it can't really be helped considering how busy and tiresome it's been this year, and i really wish i could say i can do more next year, but it's likely i'll be posting less and less in the future TwT but as much as possible, i'd still like to share my work! i think this might be my time to start focusing on original stuff, but i still wanna do fandom related stuff because there's still a lot of ideas and concepts i wanna see realized!! also i just love my fandom blorbos a lot lol, so i'll find ways to do things for them >w<
quality-wise though, i think i'm pretty pleased! last year i got csp, so i was still figuring it out, but now i think i got a better hang of it! and that means my art looks more confident i think haha. of course, there's still a lot of room for improvement, but it's nice that i can look at my stuff and go "yeah i like this!" i'm excited to see where my artistic journey goes from here!!
but yeah, maybe it wasn't a plentiful year for me re: art, but i made some pretty nice stuff despite that! thank you all for the support, and here's to next year!!

I saw this post by @fantasiawandering and went "oooh!", so I guess I've been tagged.
How many works do you have on AO3?
108, which is... far more than I thought it'd be, now that I actually check.
What's your total AO3 word count?
680,841. That's... well, according to what I've looked up, that's about 8.5 novels, so... whoa...
What fandoms do you write for?
Doctor Who, Transformers (G1 and some Beast Wars) and Jujutsu Kaisen. I've also briefly forayed into Batman, Final Fantasy VII, One Piece, Dinosaur King and Zombies, Run!
You don't want to know how many unposted fandoms I'm in, trust me.
What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
The first five installments of my Doctor Who S05 AU, After the Time War.
The premise goes as follows:
In one universe, the Doctor regenerated after sending Gallifrey into the Time War, and the Master along with it. In this one, the Doctor didn't regenerate... And the Master didn't get stuck in the Time War. ... Amy Pond still has to deal with a crazy alien, though. Or the one where the Doctor dies and the Master has to figure out who he is without the noise in his head or a friend by his side.
Each fic covers an 'episode' of Season 05, except for the first one, which covers the last part of The End of Time.
Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
Most of the time. I would love to say always, but I sometimes leave the comments sitting for one reason or another, and by the time I get to it... Well, it doesn't feel right answering after who knows how many months it's been, though I'm trying to fix that.
What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
I hesitate to name anything from the After the Time War series, because even the angstiest one has something that tells you it'll get better. Maybe some first parts of two-parters were angsty, but I wouldn't call them the angstiest. There's a few Transformers prompt fics that have dark or sad endings too, but again, not that angsty in my opinion.
I'll have to go with an oldie, surprised as I am to admit it. Somewhere Only We Know, a Transformers one-shot set in the far far future of the G1 iteration, exploring Starscream's fate after Cybertron's death.
What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
I have a few, but I'll have to go with, ironically enough, Lost Innocence. Despite the title, it's the most wholesome. It's a Final Fantasy VII post-Dirge of Cerberus 'slice of life' oneshot focused on the Turks and AVALANCHE.
Do you get hate on fics?
I don't remember ever getting any. Perhaps a few unkind/too blunt comments, but not hate, and definitely not on Ao3.
Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Nope. I do have some romantic pairings and relationships, but I tend to 'fade to black' if things seem like they are going to turn down that road, so people can take it whatever way they please.
Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?
I have some between related fandoms, like Doctor Who and its spin-offs or different iterations of the Transformers franchise, but they could hardly be considered crossovers. The one that is not and which is the craziest by premise alone is City of Nightmares. It's a Batman/Miraculous Ladybug crossover of sorts, a oneshot that combines both worlds.
Have you ever had a fic stolen?
I don't think I have. Could be, but if so, I'm not aware of it.
Have you ever had a fic translated?
Someone asked me for it once, on a different platform, but I'm not sure it ever came to be.
Have you ever co-written a fic before?
No, though I've tried some co-writing in real life and it's hard.
What's your all-time favorite ship?
Season 7 Amy and Rory, from Doctor Who, could be one. Asmodeus and Fizzarolli, from Helluva Boss, are another one. And I can't come up with any others right now :P
What's the WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
Big projects like After the Time War, in which I change something about a story (characters, premise, lore...) and then rewrite the story around that. I'll probably never do something as big as I'm currently doing, but I experimented with different ways of doing that in Devils' Fruit, a One Piece premise-change that covers up to the Time Skip, so I'll have to see if I could do something similar with those unfinished WIPs.
What are your writing strengths?
The ability to let the characters steal the show. I may have a plan about how a chapter/fic will go, but when I start writing, the characters say or do unexpected things and I follow them to its conclusion, even if it completely ignores my original plans. It can be a headache, but I like the results. They feel more 'organic'.
What are your writing weaknesses?
Discipline, or rather lack thereof. I write when I feel like it, but I have a bajillion fics at the same time, and when a new idea pops into my head, I have to try really hard not to allow it to take over. Usually, I do that by outlining it and then letting it go, which takes some time but nowhere as much as it would've otherwise.
Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
I don't usually do it, because I don't want to botcher it, but when I must... I know a few languages, so I'm comfortable if it's in those languages. When it isn't, I try to avoid it, taking a "they started spouting gibberish" approach. And when I absolutely cannot avoid it, I tend to turn to online translators and be open to corrections.
First fandom you wrote for?
Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles, though it was very briefly and on a different site. The first 'serious' fandom was the Transformers franchise, with a brief foray into the Bay-verse and a more permanent one with the Generation 1 cartoons.
Favorite fic you've ever written?
Am I the only one that thinks that's a low blow? How can I choose? I guess I could say one of the newer ones, because I'm more experienced with life and writing and whatnot, but my first ones were the ones that gave me that boost to post, even if they're rough.
It's not on Ao3 because it's an old fic (2014-2018) and I would like to polish it a bit before posting it there, so it remains on FF.net exclusively. It's called Half the Truth, and it's a Transformers G1 fic about Spike figuring out some truths of Cybertronian culture and the fallout of those. It was the first fic that made me think hard about things, instead of it being just a story.

Writer v. Artist
I feel like the more I try to convey my stories in like, real art classes the more I realize I really am a writer-turned-artist not an artist-who-happens-to-be-a-writer, and the connotations of that difference
Let me explain (because I am Always down to explain random shit, its like My Things because I loathe bing misunderstood, yk how it is)
So I got into writing while I was homeschooled for a couple years in middle school (arguably one of the worst things to happen to me and my social skills, especially since right in the middle of that we moved states but that's another topic) because my mom had me do this writing program book thing instead of just normal English/grammar/etc.
I also learned to diagram sentences around this time, which was another experience in and of itself
But that writing program got me into writing little stories for myself. I started with a couple of little Minecraft-related things because I Was 12 And Obsessed, and while that ALSO led to a lot of other things like diving into the internet and learning what fanfiction was and watching/learning about FNaF which was my gateway fandom as a 13 year old, it also led me to start drawing my characters. I'd been obsessed with dragons since I saw HTTYD as a much smaller child and ended up mashing those two things together and creating a story out of it
(My first story was about a girl who was part Ender Dragon. Yes, 12 year old me was proud of it and I'm not going to make her sad by being ashamed of that!! But it WAS cheesy.)
And I just kind of. Kept writing after the program was finished!! I never really stopped, actually. I took what I created for that little program and turned it into another (still video game related) story that was longer and had just,, SO MANY parts. FNaF got involved bc that was my next obsession/hyperfixation. I made a dozen AUs of half a dozen games and franchises by the time I was 14, and when I was 14 an a freshman in High School I made my first original thing.
"Immortal Idiots." The mashup of stories and original universe ideas and a budding magic system and species that became Broken Dimensions (YEARS later, after revising and editing and AU'ing and not being serious about any of it until I was 17 and taking COMP II at my local college through CCP).
I kept doing art all that time because I needed the visuals for my stories because that's just How My Brain Operates!! Never once did I think of being an author though. Not seriously, not until I realized I was writing a book and had no idea what to do with that information as an 18 year old finishing up their senior year of high school. I wanted to be an artist. I had wanted to be an artist since I was 15 and decided that was a career I saw myself excelling in.
(I used to want to be a marine biologist or a vet or, idk, a rancher out in the Middle of Nowhere, USA. I'd pay real money to know my mother's reaction when I said I wanted to make art for a living lol.)
But the art was always a thing I did to keep my writing juices flowing. They worked together. And sure, I can make art not related to my projects and have gotten better at doing so since getting to university and expanding my skills and experiences a little, but I'm still so focused on the expanded Broken Dimensions universe. And I don't have a problem with that! But it is making me realize, as I try and drudge through a story and concept class, that I Am NOT Great at makign stories that do not, in some way, tie back to BrDim.
Probably because I've spent years building out this giant world inside my head to the point that sometimes I wonder if it'll pull a Tlön, Uqbar, Tertius and come to life all on its own. @interdimensional-lore and the giant ass Milanote dedicated to the project are testament to the fact that I live with my brain in the BrDim universe like 55% of the time at LEAST.
But the idea that I am "a writer-turned-artist not an artist-who-happens-to-be-a-writer" is really starting to be a pain in the ass because I have gotten so used to being immersed in a fictional world that I've curated and developed that I forget sometimes that not everyone else know those stories. It's like I'm a Broken Dimensions History major and everyone else is someone outside my field of expertise who thinks my major doesn't exist until I tell them it does! Which is essentially true, because I've spent years developing all of this and posting it on social media, but until last spring, I'd sat at around 200 followers on Instagram, none of whom were interactive and only a tenth of which saw my content, and no one DID know that the project existed.
(I makes me wonder, too, what it would have been like if I'd told my mom what "Immortal Idiots" was about. If I'd told her the truth about Broken Dimensions outright, about the freedom and the queerness and the found family and the underlying references to all the mental health issues I was facing/still face today. If she knew that Fin and Ev were really gay now, that I wasn't pandering to the alt-right beliefs I grew up under anymore and saying Ev was a woman pretending to be a man (which can be a compelling story in some situations but was in fact just bigotry and BS in this one). If she knew WHY Ev is my favorite character, or why Fin is still one of my comfort OCs (they've both been controlled or silenced, they're both queer and have had to hide it, they're both images of what I wish I was in some way shape or form). To summarize: I wonder what would be different about me or the story or my career choice had my mother known what, exactly, was going on the whole time. What I was deliberately giving myself "exposure therapy" for and why I see reluctant to go back to church in-person (or at all), and that I don't go at all when I'm at university. I wonder how her approval/disproval would have affected me as a teenager, and now as an adult.
I just wonder so goddamn much.)
-
I've thought about all this a lot the past few days in relation to a botched one-on-one story and concept check-in with a professor. I came in unprepared to talk about a story I had switched to, and it all came out as CHAOS. Couldn't speak in a coherent explanatory sentence, had no thoughts whatsoever, essentially communicated to this poor confused man (I was crying by the end of this, god I'm so sorry mike) that I had no idea where this story-in-my-head was going.
Except that the problem was that simply hadn't given myself enough time to translate five years' worth of story compilation into an outline to base myself off of.
That's not related to the writer v artist issue, that's just anxiety and chronic procrastination. But it made me realize how strange it was to finally be talking about a story I've wanted to do for years. (And how unfamiliar I am with being allowed to talk about my stories in any real, VERBAL capacity.) And it led to this disjointed introspection about my experience as a writer, then an artist. And how I didn't make that distinction from "artist who writes" until 2022.

Spellbound is my upcoming piece for the Strange Devotion collab hosted by @bearseungmin. I've been working on this piece since around march... and I don't want to overpromise but I think It'll be around 100K across a few teaser scenes, and three of four chapters. The woman in front of you is beautiful. She must have been the most beautiful woman that many people had ever seen in as many lifetimes.
You hold her face in your hands and it’s hard to the touch, firm and polished like stone - the skin does not drag as you run a finger over it, inspecting her features. She is not cold, not warm; the same temperature of the room, in fact. Her eyes are perfectly still, looking beyond you and never at you; unflinching, unfocused. They seem to hold a thousand colors of amber and earth in them and they are so still they seem like glass. Her skin lacks its luster, only temporarily, but its olive and brown hues still show beneath the pallor. You imagine how it must have shone among the sun of the land from which she came, and how it would feel in that warmth from that ancient time.
You see the gash at her neck, poorly mended who knows how long ago. That must have been what killed her, you think. She must have been near fourty when she died, an age that in her beauty still seemed only the ripening of a flower, and not as many would think, its wilting. You wonder if you too would grow beautiful in such a way… or would you simply age?
She doesn’t blink as she doesn’t breathe. She has no need to move and if she so desires she could stay still for years on end and awaken in another era feeling only that she has overslept. It is only when you call her name that she does answer.
“Berenice.” You call her. It sounds very foreign in this small town where the two of you have met, just as yours does. But she doesn’t call you by your name. She only calls you Doctor, as everyone else does, it would seem far too strange to give her your name - it’s too foreign, too different, and above all; too revealing.
As you wonder, her features flick with animation, her eyes widen and adjust, her head turns to yours, her lips part and she exhales the stagnant breath that she had held within her for several days now.
“Yes, Doctor.” She answers. She speaks with that same placeless accent that you have heard in others of her age, who have ventured in different lands and times and tongues, speaking in a way that is so mixed and mended that it seems to come from no place at all. It’s an alien way of speaking, and you hope it’s not what unmasks her.
“How do you feel?” you ask her, still pressing the pads of your fingers into her flesh as it softens, almost mimicking the texture of the living. Good… that’s good. So long as it continues to soften, it is good.
“Alert, weakened.” She explains. “Lesser.”
“Lesser?” you question.
“Than I was.” She hums, thinking of the words, archaic and unintelligible ones most likely occupying the beginnings of her train of thought before she can describe her thoughts to you. “Yes - less. Like half a person, or an empty person.” She clasps her hands, balls them into fists. The change in sense and strength is always so unsettling to them, you always see the same reaction.
“It will be expected for the first few weeks, but you’ll feel better as your diet progresses and you begin to sleep normally. The sun may make you ache and irritate your eyes, but it won’t harm you as much anymore. You can begin to acclimate at your discretion. Slowly you’ll feel like you gain strength, but it is completely different. You won’t be able to do the same things, so be… careful.”
“Will I feel hunger?” She questions.
“Yes, but not the same appetite, not quite. You will be able to resist. One day you may even begin to crave what you call ‘human’ food.” You chuckle. She does technically eat human food.
“So I will not eat and drink from man?”
“You always could, but it won’t give you the same satisfaction. It won’t sate your appetite. There will be no more bloodlust, as you had before, and like I said, you might even enjoy human food.”
“And am I human?”
“I would say you always have been… you are just sick.”
“Your kind do not think so.”
“Pffft! Nonsense… many do. And well, I’ve proven it to be an illness, haven’t I? And you are on the path to recovery.” You scoff, “‘your kind’, ‘my kind’, it's a pointless label. Here, there, wherever, it’ll be different.”
“Still they confuse us with the other blood drinkers.” She argues. Those of her age aren't usually quite expressive, but you hear a sadness in those words.
“Aaah yes, the nightcrawlers. Creepy crawlies! They are not like you, they can’t walk in the sun because they have sold their soul and God can burn them in His light, like witches! Your kind, the sick, can. Daywalkers and Nightcrawlers. Different names depending on where you are, but still that’s about it. Step in the sun and they won’t confuse you.” You say after tapping the tip of her nose. She is hundreds of years old and seems confused by the gesture, so perhaps that approach should be exclusive to your child patients.
“God, you believe in Him?” This one was quite inquisitive - curious of the world. You wonder how she has lived, if it’s been in seclusion, away from the times, away from the world.
“One way or another, ‘He’ is there. Or She. A long time ago I had a… group of sorts that I worked with. Everyone had their own creed, and we’d all share blessings and icons from these faiths indiscriminately. Be it wrong or right, any belief can be a channel for us to make the distinctions that protect us, that we have faith in. There is us, the good, and the other, mostly bad. If you believe or not, there is a need for this sort of scheme and these figures. The names, the chants, the rituals. They all have a purpose when it comes to fighting certain things. You need to know what to call things, what belongs where, what is good and what isn’t… So you can pick and choose your doctrine to work with - fundamentally, that’s it I guess.”
“Hmm… I have known many gods in my time then.”
“And have you ever known them to be true?”
“Like you say, it does not matter if we believe it or not, but I have seen things and men need to give them names.”
“Straightforward I think, in the end we all seem to speak of the same things.”
“Then can you be straightforward once more and tell me when I will be human again?”
“As I’ve said. You always have been.” You sigh before answering, “as you begin to… acclimate, and follow the instructions I’ve given you, you’ll feel more like your old self. After a year or so the symptoms may have almost entirely disappeared, and you will also take on the detriments of mortal health without any enhancements, if we may call them that. Your senses will dull, as will your strength, you will weaken and become less resilient.”
You pause to look at her, before deciding to confess. “I think it may be impossible to completely eliminate the toxins left in your body, I’ve only been doing this for some years so it’s difficult to say what the long term results will be. If you are ever compelled, by your own will, or some shocking external factor, to begin to drink regularly once more, then you will feed your body the same es en es needed for the illness to grow within you once more.”
“I see. So I must be wary, forever.”
“Not forever anymore.”
“Not anymore.”
The woman stands and walks as if she were floating, still such minuscule precision in her movements. You watch the beauty in awe as she prepares to leave, as she wordlessly says farewell with a kiss to each of your hands and cheeks - another ancient gesture. You’ve warned her to be cautious of unfriendly eyes on her journey home, as you have warned all incoming and outgoing patients who come and go so secretly and illicitly. You expect that she will remain unseen - simply another person in the crowds.
You could only hope that the newly added eyes of one monster hunter Hyunjin Hwang would not target her on her way out, or those who have yet to arrive.
Because what would you do if they were?
What would he do if he discovered you?
And more importantly… what would you do to him?

1, 3, and 19 for the author ask!!!
FUN META ASKS FOR WRITERS
1.) Tell us about your current project(s)  – what’s it about, how’s progress, what do you love most about it?
*sobs* I have so many projects rip me--
The main ones though, are Golden Omen, Into the Valley of Death (which I'm ashamed to say I'm still not done with), All the King's Men (which got reworked and is slowly moving up the endless WIP list), and No Wind Can Touch.
Golden Omen: Urban fantasy that centers around a pair of soulmates and is based heavily in Celtic lore/mythology. I'm sorry I've been trying to coherently collect my thoughts for this for years and I haven't managed it yet
Into the Valley of Death: D.Gray-Man OC fanfic centered around my OC, Alice! It's separated into four sections and the last section is heavily canon divergent. I've been working on this thing for four years now... help
All the King's Men: A Vanitas no Carte AU where Vanitas is a Chasseur! (Because of the fact he would never have met Vanitas of the Blue Moon and inherited their name, Vanitas is referred to as Maugris in this fic.) Contains OCs, childhood friends to lovers (Maugris/Vanitas/OC), and a somewhat stable Misha.
No Wind Can Touch: An Owari no Seraph OC fic that centers around my OC, Chiyoko Hakke. The newer chapters have thrown some nicely-sized wrenches into my plot/outline so I'm still ironing out a lot of kinks. Eventually, like most of my other fics/stories, it will become canon divergent
3.) What is that one scene that you’ve always wanted to write but can’t be arsed to write all of the set-up and context it would need? (consider this permission to write it and/or share it anyway)
When I said that ATKM was quickly climbing the ranks of my WIPs, it's because of this one scene that wON'T GO AWAY [Spoilers for Vanitas's canon backstory/time with Moreau] (Scene in question under cut)
19.) Is there something you always find yourself repeating in your writing? (favourite verb, something you describe ‘too often’, trope you can’t get enough of?)
Every character I've ever written arches an eyebrow. I'm sorry, it's just such a specific yet versatile expression. I also write a lot of father/daughter bonding and rivals to lovers.
Every rational fiber in Maugris's body wanted to deny the fact that Irénée was sitting in the same room as him, that she was talking with him, laughing with him...that she was alive.
He had been regularly visiting her at her apartment for bordering on a month now. He tried to show up during normal, human hours, but Moreau never let him leave until the moon was high and the streets empty. He briefly wondered if her neighbors ever noticed him showing up in the middle of the night only to leave a few hours later. From what he'd gathered, though, Irénée didn't hardly venture into the outside world--a warning from Roland and Olivier, no doubt.
An embroidered throw pillow smacked Maugris in the face, and he cried out in surprise. Surprise quickly shifted to annoyance when his dark blue eyes focused on Irénée's poorly-hidden smirk.
"Shouldn't a Chasseur have better situational awareness?" she teased, smirk morphing into an obvious grin. Maugris scowled, tossing the pillow back at her.
"Shouldn't a recluse have better needlework?" he quipped back. Irénée released an indignant cry, whacking Maugris with the throw pillow.
"Ow! Hey!" Maugris snapped, flinching when it hit his upper arm. "What was that for?"
"'What was that--'? You're an ass!" Irénée exclaimed, whacking him again.
Maugris huffed, barely dodging the third hit. "And? You already knew that." Irénée scowled--though, it was closer in expression to a frustrated pout--and Maugris felt his stomach flip. When he offered no further reply, she turned away from him and back to the book she'd been half-reading.
The way her hair framed her face impeded her peripheral vision, and Maugris used this to his advantage as he carefully grabbed another embroidered pillow from the chair next to him. He playfully smacked her in the face with the pillow, mussing her hair in the process. Irénée huffed in annoyance and shot a half-hearted glare the currently grinning Chasseur.
He'd thrown down a metaphorical gauntlet, and with Irénée's next cushioned blow, she picked it up.
After a good twenty minutes of pillow fighting that involved hiding behind furniture, leaping over tables, and Irénée sweeping Maugris's legs out from under him, they collapsed on Irénée's bed laughing.
Maugris wasn't sure he had ever laughed this hard. Maugris wasn't sure he had even truly laughed before now. Irénée's laugh was slightly raspy, but there were tears collecting at the corners of her eyes from the intensity. Maugris glanced over at her, his heart skipping a beat at the sight.
Shit, when did I start thinking she's cute?
Maugris stopped, panic briefly replacing his growing attraction, at the sight of the blood collecting under Irénée's nose. "Iri, did I hit you too hard?" he asked, cupping her cheek to better look at her injury. Irénée flinched as Maugris's thumb wiped away the blood. Her face was warm, and when he met her gaze, he saw the panic in her eyes. She blinked, pale blue eyes averting from his.
Maugris felt dread knot in his stomach.
"No, no, I'm--I'm fine! This just happens sometimes!" she assured with a shaky, hardly reassuring laugh. "Really! I'm fine, Maugri!" She backed away from him and Maugris's hold on her face tightened.
Maugris swallowed, his mouth suddenly dry as the horrifying realization dawned on him. "Iri," he whispered, voice trembling. Irénée tensed, refusing to meet his gaze, and Maugris felt true, bone-chilling fear for the first time in years.
"It caught up with me, Maugri," she murmured, finally looking at him again, "and I don't think I'll survive it this time."
Maugris's breath shuddered as he pulled her to him with shaking hands, holding her to his chest as the first of many silent tears rolled down his cheeks.
But I just got you back.

I'm going to be honest. I don't think the issue is that Shinji is a 'cringe' character but more so to the fact that you're trying to do so much with him at once. Don't get me wrong, having a ton of ideas and AU's is great but it's very difficult to determine what's canon on the blog and what the constant status of him is. There was a time where he summoned someone with a Semiramus FC that taught him magic I believe? There was a time he turned into Z? What happened to that. There's been a point where a future version of him has come back, there's a black knight version of him ( Lancelot FC ) there's now the Kirito FC / Version of him as well. Ontop of all this you've introduced multiple lore stuffs that seem ... confusing? At one point Shinji was a general magic user, then it became magic via a cult or something and now it's magic circuits similar to fate. And to add onto this even more you've introduced things like a cult, an SCP foundation, a bunch of knights, someone with a Gilgamesh FC ?? and now an entirely new world ( of which would be very hard for 99% of muses to interact with since most people tend to keep their interactions in a normal setting ) I'm not saying it's bad to have all these ideas, I'm just saying it's hard to know what's being kept around. It's hard to interact when things change almost weekly.
Tumblr media
Hello, thank you for giving me your input and thoughts regarding how the blog has been handled thus far. You've made a lot of valid points so I will try to address them as best as I can.
I can understand how confusing it can be to understand what falls into "canon" and what the true status of certain characters is with how much it changes. To start off, I apologize for any confusion that has come as a result of the haphazard way I've run things. When I started this blog, I had to abandon another project I had put a lot of time and effort into due to external factors that caused it to fall apart. I was essentially starting fresh and it was very difficult to build something from the ground up. There were concepts for possible muses but they didn't really have any solid foundation to build upon, causing me to scrape certain things in favor of new ones. The same applied with Shinji as a character, I had the basic idea for him but I wanted to see what I could do with him in regards to alternative verses and future ideas. With Shinji and by extension, some other muses, I was experimenting with various ideas that would come to mind and hoping that one of them would stick. The problem with trying to start something with OC content is that unlike with canon works, there's no steady foundation to work on, so you have to do it yourself. And for the months this blog has been active, this was essentially what I've been attempting to do, trying to find an idea and see which one works best.
Now, does this mean that all of them are non-canon and can be easily scrapped? Not necessarily, and these ideas can exist inside their own verse. At least in my mind, that's how I saw it. Everything is a different path of what the character could have taken had conditions been favorable or unfavorable, depending. Now, what is the actual canon of Shinji Wataru? The main verse that he is in is that he is a normal guy who is just starting to uncover the potential he has in the field of magic and whatnot. He could learn of it through a few different means, but for the most part, there is usually a "Guy in The Chair" who passes on certain knowledge to him in which he does as he wishes with it. that's the basic idea of what his real canon is but everything else beyond that is fluid. He could take a different route depending on how things are going in his personal life or what his mood is on a particular day. Things can go in either direction for him. Some verses/routes, things end pretty well for him while in others, they don't, hence the number of dark counterparts and the two "bad end" future variants he has.
I realize that was a lot to uncover and it may seem rambly, but I hope you can understand what I'm getting at in regards to the character and his canon. Also in regards to me throwing all of these ideas, I tend to have trouble focusing on one thing for too long and as a result, I tend to jump to one thing after another and if certain ideas don't get much traction, I tend to rarely revisit them so there's that.
As for the new setting, I can get it being incredibly difficult for one to get into when most of the RPC has their settings in some version of the real world, a topic of which I have some thoughts on but won't get into here. The new verse was originally created to piggy-back off of the setting a friend of mine has started to develop, my contributions started with simply adding in my own stuff to further expand on it (new locations, characters, concepts, ect). But from that, the idea started to boom and that it could become something more than just an expansion of something else, that it could be its own thing even without its origin point, and thus I began getting inspiration from various other media, as well as some old ideas that laid dormant for years and just started bringing that to the forefront and we have the new Fantasy verse.
In retrospect, this new verse should warrant a blog of its own given how massive it has become on paper, and how massive it is going to become, but we will have to wait and see. The other ideas like the SCP Foundation-esuqe organization may get their own blog in the future as well but I hope you know that the confusion has been noted and I am attempting to rectify it as best as I can. Even now, 6 months into this blog's existence, I am still trying to experiment and gain a steady foundation that all of us can be comfortable with.
But to conclude:
Shinji's Canon is that of a person trying to become the best version of himself as he can be by coming across the occult, having someone experienced in that field to give him what he needs to master it.
All of the verses of him becoming evil or a different person are merely alternate scenarios which he could take. They can be canon or non-canon depending on what you prefer.
While the Fantasy verse will be the main focus going forward, none of the aforementioned stuff will be discarded and can be continued independently.
I'm always experimenting with ideas hoping they stick.
My focus on things is poor and I need to get better at staying on a single path.
This was a lot to unpack but I hope I was able to clear up some of the confusion for you. Please let me know if you have any other questions and what you want to see from the blog, be it a verse or something about a muse.

100 Days of Writing: the List
Tumblr media
Since it seems there is some interest, why not? List of works (nominally) in progress, old unfinished fics, and Stuff I Want To Write below the cut. Feel free to ask about any of these.
Works (nominally) In Progress
Fanfic
"Reason or Rhyme" (Time Princess - Gotham Memoirs). The Vittorio expansion/fix-fic, because I will be forever disgruntled at how little romance content was actually included in the Mafia romance route.
Galactic Date Night Shenanigans aka "The one where everything is Balkar's fault." (SWTOR - Theron Shan/Jedi Knight). Theron "disaster spy" Shan is goaded into trying to take his wife out for a nice date for once, and it goes like every other plan these two have ever had anything to do with.
#3: [I] trusted [you] (SWTOR - Theron Shan / Jedi Knight). A post-Nathema prompt fic I swear I will finish one of these days.
Original
super secret short story/novella project - Okay it's not that super secret, but it is something I'm mostly keeping under my hat for now as I work on it because of reasons, and is actually (inconveniently, for 100 Days of Writing purposes) the main thing I've been working on lately. I expect to be able to say more about it later. Maybe even within the 100 days! We'll see.
southern gothic urban fantasy procedural romance - Faerie Animal Control Warden meets FBI Elf during investigation of a suspicious death out in the kudzu. A little bit of Bright, a bit Mushi-Shi, a drop of Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil.
Stuff I Want to Write
Distinct from works in progress in that I have not actually gotten past the planning stage on any of these - if that. A few of these have been rattling around in concept for long enough to have gone through several distinct evolutions without ever getting any writing done on them. Still, hope springs eternal and ideas are never wasted.
Fanfic
the rival bands AU / the rock opera playlist fic (Sailor Moon - Makoto Kino/Nephrite). Currently exists entirely as an incomplete playlist.
space opera Pride and Prejudice retelling - exactly what it sounds like on the tin. Do y'all know I have yet to encounter a futuristic/space AU? Surely there's one out there somewhere, but I have yet to see it. If you know of one, for the love of God don't tell me.
"Ten of Swords" - (Archer EMIYA/Minako Arisato). fate/stay night + Persona 3 Portable crossover what's even wrong with my brain.
Original
the Regency fae story - a Regency-era fantasy in which a lot of the needlessly complicated and restrictive social rules followed by the upper classes are actually an attempt at defending against the Fair Folk. Sort of Pride and Prejudice vs Changeling: the Lost vs Labyrinth. Could turn into a whole Pride and Prejudice retelling, I guess?
drinking games - fantasy imperial court intrigues involving a romance between a court poison taster and a master spy/assassin.
untitled - East/southeast Asian-inspired Beauty and the Beast retelling in which the Beast is a mountain god whose appearance is based on a tiger. I'm probably too white to write this.
untitled - Private investigator hired to investigate local bad-boy-made-good for insurance fraud, turns out it was actually an ill-advised teenage deal with the devil coming due. Might fit in with that other southern gothic urban fantasy idea, I am not sure.
the ciphered letter - This one started off as a combination of a Mage: the Awakening campaign and a really, really weird spam email I got one time. Orphan gets mysterious ciphered letter, meets snarky Welsh mage, awakens to magic and maybe almost gets made a human sacrifice to an eldritch abomination.
Forfeit - Regency/Victorian-esque fantasy involving reincarnation, a race of immortals, and a half-immortal teaming up with a mortal who sacrificed his future reincarnations for pseudo-immortality to uncover and stop the sinister secrets that power a colonizing empire. It makes more sense in my head... probably?
untitled - Slow burn enemies to lovers between the world-conquering emperor and the rebel leader who's opposing him, over the course of a time loop. AKA Lord of Heroes Kartis/Monarch with the serials filed off. Or I guess I could just write Lord of Heroes fanfic?
low fantasy Magnificent Seven Samurai - Farming village scrapes together a group of starving mercs to protect them from marauders, drama ensues. That's it, that's the whole idea.
Unfinished Fics
Distinct from works in progress in that these are all old enough I can no longer claim I intend to finish them. Some of them I may come back to, especially the few that had substantial progress made before they fell by the wayside. Most will probably be left abandoned, either because I have lost interest in continuing to work on them or I have just plain forgotten what I was planning to do with them.
dreameater - A very old, loosely Forgotten Realms-inspired concept involving an aging half-elf, his fully elven partner, and a mysterious magical threat that's devouring people's dreams.
"Fortune Favors the Brave" (Baccano! - Luck Gandor/Eve Genoard). The Luck/Eve shipping fic.
"Intermezzo" (Blood+ City of Nightwalkers). Follow-up fic to an obscure manga prequel/side story for the vampire anime Blood+, involving Hagi and the Hong Kong cop who semi-adopted him that one time.
"The Art of Losing Everything" (Dragon Age: Origins - Alistair Theirin/f!Cousland). An Alistair/f!Warden fic with themes of loss, duty, and sacrifice.
"In Pieces" (Dragon Age II - Fenris/f!Hawke). A terrible horrible no good very bad AU where Hawke actually turned Fenris over to Danarius and then came back to try to fix her mistake, which I can never finish because I can't make that initial decision make internal sense no matter how hard I try.
"Pas de Deux" (Final Fantasy VIII - Squall Leonhart/Rinoa Heartilly). Exploration of how Squall and Rinoa's relationship could develop after the events of the game.
"With Good Intentions" (Final Fantasy VIII - Squall Leonhart/Rinoa Heartilly). An AU in which Rinoa discovers that technically you can change the past, it's just that if Squall has an actual decent childhood the world ends. Way too ambitious for me to ever actually finish, probably, but I can't quite give up on the idea.
"I've Loved These Days" (Gundam SEED - Mu la Flaga/Murrue Ramius). One of several partly-written Gundam SEED fics kicking around in my files.
"The Last Night of the World" (Gundam SEED - Mu la Flaga/Murrue Ramius). Another Gundam SEED fic, one that began as a prompt in ye olde LiveJournal days. "I've Loved These Days" might have been a prototype, though they don't appear to have any text in common. Could in theory still get finished, maybe.
Valentine's ghosts (Gundam SEED Destiny - Andrew Waltfeld/Murrue Ramius). I'm just saying, Andy/Murrue would have been so much more interesting than the whole Neo thing in Destiny.
"Lion Passant" (Kingdom Hearts). Something something Leon as a failed Keyblade Bearer. The Kingdom Hearts franchise has rewritten its own lore at least three times since I originally had the idea, I can't imagine I'll ever continue it now.
"Vigil" (KotOR - Carth Onasi/f!Revan). Carth/Revan retrospective somewhere around the tomb of Naga Sadow on Korriban.
"Semper Fidelis" (KotOR/KotOR II - Carth Onasi/f!Revan). Post-Sith Lords Carth/Revan resolution fic.
"Clarity" (KotOR II). Atton Rand backstory study from the POV of that one nameless Jedi.
"A Simple Game of Cards" (KotOR II - Atton Rand/Jedi Exile). Spoilers: it is never a simple game of cards. Turns out someone already did it with more or less the same twist I had in mind.
the besieged base fic (Mass Effect - f!Shepard/Kaidan Alenko). A fic rendition of the "Besieged Base" mission from the first Mass Effect.
"Get Up, Jonah" (Mass Effect). I woke up thinking about Turkish drummers. Didn't take long; I don't know much about Turkish drummers. Virmire, before the other shoe drops.
"Long Night" (Mass Effect). Ashley on Virmire.
"My Heart Dances" (Mass Effect - f!Shepard/Kaidan Alenko). Liara POV of Shepard/Kaidan.
"No Way Out" (Mass Effect - f!Shepard/Kaidan Alenko). Heading up the Citadel during the ME1 endgame.
"Right Here, Right Now" (Mass Effect - f!Shepard/Kaidan Alenko). An ME1 epilogue / pre-ME2 sort of fic.
"While the Night is Still Young" (Mass Effect - f!Shepard/Kaidan Alenko). Shepard/Kaidan en route to Ilos.
Apparently I had approximately a million little Mass Effect shortfic ideas I never finished and in some cases never started. Apparently they're all for the first game. (I think there was a Thane idea or two for ME2 that I just never started on at all. RIP.)
"To Absent Friends" (Tiger and Bunny). Sad, sad futurefic of an elderly Pao-Lin reflecting on the deaths of all the other heroes over the years.
