Fire Pink

Silene virginica

A perennial catchfly native to central and eastern North America. The bright, fiery red flowers attract ruby-throated hummingbirds to pollinate them, and sticky sepals and stems on the plant act as a trap for small insects trying to climb up it, hence the name "catchfly" for plants in this genus. It prefers somewhat dry soils and part-sun, so it can be found on rocky slopes in open woodlands, savannas, and other similar habitats.

I found this fire pink growing in open, rocky woods near blackjack oaks and other drought-tolerant species.

So I found out about this amazing statue of Satan cradling Sirene in his arms https://myfigurecollection.net/item/214138 and I thought it was so beautiful and was intrigued by the concept of what kind of relationship Satan might've had with Sirene and then I remember in the Amon manga that Satan was friendly with Sirene's mother and I'd like to headcanon that Satan felt a lot of pain and regret whenever he saw Sirene and was reminded of her mother each time and maybe when he was Ryo a part of him felt strangely guilty about shooting her to free Akira. And in this what if picture Ryo had managed to wake up sooner to encounter Sirene bleeding and dying from Akira's attacks and feels the strong urge to cradle the mighty warrior demoness in his arms to bring her some peace and comfort for her final moments(I also headcanon that both demons and humans feel more calmed in Satan's presence when he wishes them to be) but then I imagine Kaim arrives and Sirene snaps out of the wistful trance she was in with this strangely familiar human who had not too long ago shot her and joins with Kaim to get her revenge on Akira for Amon. Ryo would never understand why he feels so much sadness for this demon until he remembers his true identity and the regret and guilt hit him harder than he had before, he had promised himself that Sirene wouldn't be the last of the Sirene and yet he had helped make that happen...

HOFAS SPOILERS BELOW!!

Do we think Amren is lying about who/what she is? I the very beginning of the book, she says that she was in the Prison before people vanished from Pythian and that she came out afterwards.

But, when Azriel, Nesta, and Bryce are listening to Silene's history lesson, we're told that there was no Prison before anybody left. Silene created the Prison when she came back to conceal the darkness that had taken root on the Island.

So, if there was no Prison, then Amren is lying (or SJM tucked up her timelines). But, if Amren is lying, then who/what is she? Where was she really? Was she locked somewhere else and Silene found her and then put her in the Prison? Or was their another secret that Theia hid below the Island like she did Vesperus?

Or, is it possible that Amren is Silene herself, and that's why she's so loyal to the Night Court, her remaining family in Prythian, despite them ruling over the island where she was once "imprisoned"?

Ancient warriors frozen for years until the modern era.

Antagonist woman who loved the hero and still loves the image she has of said hero even if the real thing is a disappointment to her. And she's one of the deadliest foes the hero has ever faced.

Bonus: Siren does get turned to stone at one point.

Not saying that "Gargoyles" was inspired by Devilman, I don't know if it was or wasn't. It's just something that came to my mind when I watched the intro of Gargoyles.

Silene rotundifolia,

Growing nearly upside down as a sandstone chasmophyte( this is it’s in-situ niche), in a dry rockshelter vs a backcove(humidity ducting terminal), in more exposure to sunlight than many other Ilp endemics. We have hummingbird and butterfly pollinated round leaf catch fly.

As an ILP sandstone endemic species that has barely breached the Allegheny Plateau due to it’s overlap into the ILP it seems to be the most wide spread overall; as geological borders while physical have mixing zones that are never fully abrupt. In ecological systems many factors besides geology and evolutionary time come into play with ranges though these seem to be the main contributors. Gale( or is it Gail) from natives in harmony llc, actually managed to grow these ex-situ in limestone gravel that was unwashed, which shut down my theory about chemistry as a leading factor in it’s range.

We can see that valley of the gods in Illinois had no history of this, The other site that surprised me is a lack of the continued line in Adams, Scioto, Lawrence counties of Ohio. Lewis County Kentucky has none either. Or perhaps the strangest spot missing would be Cuyahoga National Park in Ohio while we have records from a northern county adjacent( most northern pop).
