So sad to learn Tom Brittney will be leaving Grantchester in Series 9. I loved him as Will, even when I wasn't sure I would after James Norton. Here's to hoping with Rishi Nair in Series 10! Will forever love Geodie!

And he is the Sun
The jingling tags of a dog collar followed by hushed scolding were not everyone's choice of comforfing sounds, but it was definitely a favorite of yours, especially when the immediate result was a wagging tail and paws on your legs and a wet nose at your hands.
"Dickens!" You bent down, allowing the growing Labrador to smother you in kisses, tail thumping vigorously against your coffee table. Your hands sunk into his fur. "And where is the beloved vicar?"
"Well, I wouldn't know anything about beloved," Sidney answered, stepping into your sitting room with a kind smile. " I'm sure I could leave my collar on Dickens for the weekend and there wouldn't be much complaint."
Much to Dickens' chagrin, you pulled away as you stood, laughing as you did so. He had just gotten a whiff of something sweet on your hands but had no time to investigate. His little black nose attempted to bump your fingers, but he couldn't reach.
"I made some biscuits, I just need to frosten them," you offered, unknowingly answering the burning question of the black Lab that was circling your sitting room.
"Isn't it a bit early for biscuits?"
"Nonsense."
If anyone were to ask you what you liked most about your vicar, you would speak of his genuine concern and care for his congregation and for people, but in your mind you would be thinking about the scene in front of you: Sidney Chambers looking down with a chuckle, his blue eyes filled with light, and a smile that echoed clouds on a Sunny day.
You stepped into your kitchen, the vicar not far behind. Putting the freshly made frosting between you and Sidney, you handed him a knife and half a batch of biscuits.
"Is your sermon ready?"
An amused sigh left his lips in response before he shook his head, light bouncing off his strawberry blond hair.
"Maybe you should leave Dickens in charge for a weekend," you mused, watching the way some of his biscuits were neatly covered and others with frosting hanging off the edge and donating to the blue glob between his thumb and index finger. A laugh escaped your lips.
"You're a ray of sunshine, Sidney Chambers."
His hand hovered over the knife in the bowl, your words washing over him with sensitive seriousness.
"Here, you can have these," you pushed the finished biscuits towards him, "And perhaps one for Mr. Dickens?"
Sidney nodded, half in thought. You whistled, and in came a flying black mess of fur, sliding across the tile to your feet.
"Sit. Good boy. Shake?"
Dickens placed a paw against your shin, tail thumping against the base of the counter.
Smiling, you opened your hand and lowered it, enjoying the sight of the dog reaching up to grab it, chomping happily away.
Sidney cleaned his hands off before facing you, a hint of amusement in his blue eyes. He reached forward, slowly pushing a strand of hair out of your face.
"You take care of yourself, Mr. Chambers," you murmered, ignoring the warmth of your cheeks.
"No promises, I'm afraid."
You huffed at him the way only someone in love could.

Camilla Beeput in Grantchester (2014) S1E5
Sidney takes Geordie to London where, as guests of Sidney's sister Jennifer, they visit the jazz club owned by her boyfriend Johnny's father Archie. Halfway through the evening Johnny's sister Claudette is murdered. She was about to elope with her lover Walter, who accuses Archie, an arrogant man, who brings in his friend inspector Williams, whom Geordie suspects to be corrupt. Indeed twelve years earlier Williams arrested Archie on suspicion of murder but released him. Archie believes that Claudette's slaying was revenge for those far off events and Sidney and Geordie set out to find the avenger. In the meantime Sidney feels guilty for having spent the night in the bed of glamorous vocalist Gloria and Guy, aware of the young vicar's attraction to Amanda, tells him that the wedding will now be in London.

Okay hear me out - a crossover between Grantchester, Father Brown, and Call the Midwife. Are any of these in the same time period? More or less - but you can’t tell me it wouldn’t be adorable to see Father Brown and Sister Monica Joan bonding (I think they’d get along quite well), or Sidney/Will and Father Brown talking about cases and mysteries while Mrs McCarthy and Mrs Chapman have a begrudging friendship over those two running about solving mysteries instead of doing their duties and being abandoned by no-good husbands (and maybe inviting Mrs Higgins and Nurse Crane), and Bunty and Trixie getting along like a house on fire. It doesn’t have to be a mystery or a murder case; just these three series crossing over and being adorable and amazing :D!
