Revenge (extended edition)

So I’m sorry it got way longer than expected. You don’t have to publish it if you think it’s bad :)

(Warning: 18+ language.)

Revenge

Honestly, Agni’s always felt like he’s not really good enough for you. It’s nothing you or anyone else did; it’s just that he thinks you’re pretty much the most amazing person in the world, too amazing, and he… doesn’t think that he’s good enough for someone who’s the most amazing person in the world.

You’re the proclaimed “ genius-billionaire-philanthropist-player”. You had your first Ph.D at 14. You cured three type of cancer, one of which was how you two met- because your cure saved him. You made your fortune in tech - “real life Tony Stark” was on your Time magazine “Person of the Year” cover headline. You negotiated a peace between the two Koreas. You cured AIDS! For goodness sake. Peoples may have their opinions about how you seem to be, but your fuck-all attitude is so impressive, the Kardashian pays to go to your parties that were hosted without you ever showing up.

But him? He’s nothing.

No wealth, no fancy degree, no family worth speaking of - other than Soma. He’s just a kindergarten teacher for a private school where the tuition per year is almost more than his own salary. You saved his life, the reason why he’s not six-feet under but towering over most people at six feet five inches.

“Palpable eye-candy.”

“He’s exotic, we’ll give him that.”

“A kindergarten teach? Fo’real? That’s what The She IRL Tony Stark is into. Damn. I’m better than that and I can’t even find a date.”

“Pfft. probs keep that blond mop-head as a philanthropy trophy.”

“I wonder if he’s actually a pedo? Or a tranny, no real man is that pathetic.”

“Ay’yo ma, kill urself so I get a chance aye?”

“What do you call a male gold digger? A man whore?”

“Man-whore, man-slut. Whatev.”

And so on.

He hides these tweets, comments, gossips - whatever they are from you. Good thing that despite being the Tech magnate, you don’t care much for social media, other than what the trending memes is.

Until one day when he couldn’t. Even from all the loves and hugs and smiles he’s receive each day at school from his wonderful students.

“They’re funny!”

You insisted with a mouth full of strawberry starburst. It’s hard to imagine that the woman who brings fear on a world-stage level is his wife. Wearing long ebony hair in a messy bun, buried oversized sweater (previously his) stained with BBQ sauce, lounging around on the sofas, munching on chips, and cackling at memes he can’t understand, it’s hard to believe you’re the same person that walked out the door with butlers and guards trailing behind you.

That said, it’s moment like this that reminds him of how much in love with you he is - and the shame bubbles from inside him, clawing at his throat, threatening to spill over. The same feeling he’s been having since the media caught wind of the fact that you two are married.

He sat down behind you, surprising you with a hug. He figured that if he buried his face in your back long enough, he’ll regain enough composure to stop himself from crying from the sheer cruelty of people he’d never meet.

(You’re not surprised when he hugs you of course, he’s always been the more affectionate one. Correction, he’s the epitome of affection, love, goodness, and anything that’s GOOD^tm.)

(While you are, in short, an emotionless, semi-borderline psychopathic asshole and mostly an impatient bitch. If it wasn’t for Agni, you would’ve just blew North Korea off the maps with their own nuclear arsenal instead of spending months of planning with the joint forces of the South Korean government, the USA, and U.N forces.)

(You never once stop complaining during this time. And it was the God of Patience, personified as Agni, the only person who could manage to calm you down every time you’d wake up in the middle of the night, rambling about how much faster it would be to “Just. Bomb. The. Shit. Out. Of. Those. Commie.”)

(You still can’t understand why to this day, Agni refuses to accept his critical role in your so-called “peace negotiation” of the Koreas”.)

“What’s wrong?” You asks nonchalantly as you scrolls through your thousandth meme for the day. It’s one your way of keep yourself sane - the main way being Agni, obv.

“It’s nothing. Just work, nothing you should worry about.” He answers, resting his face on your shoulder, “but also, you promised me you’d drink less.”

“I did. I’ve only got two beers and half a bottle of mini-Jack Danny today.” You bit into a chip. Something’s off. He doesn’t usually brings up your shitty alcoholic habit unless it’s seriously too much, or if he’s deflecting.

“Uh, sure you did. I can still smell it on your breath.” He replies in a disappointed voice, his Teacher’s voice. The one he knew that you hate. Or at the most, mildly dislike. It is an impossibility to hate him.

“Whatever. Shouldn’t you be, I don’t know? Grading some kiddie finger painting or something?” You snaps back in a bored voice, , expecting him to muzzle you with your bowl of chips in return.

Instead, Agni pulls away, you turn back and his eyes are just spilling with hot tears.

You froze, unsure of what to do. Your computer like mind immediately rewind itself and methodically sort itself to all events within the past 72 hours to see where you might’ve gone wrong to make him cry.

“Why did you marry me?” He asks softly, refusing to meet your eyes. He withdrawn himself away from you, tucking his normally large body into the corner of the sofa, his fingers tugging at the hand-casted gold ring, “I..I was never good enough to deserve you.”

“Whoa. Um. Where exactly is this coming from? Who the fuck told you something like this?” Your eyes narrow dangerously. Agni wouldn’t just break down like this. You’ve been married for two years to him, and the news has only broken six-months ago. You’ve made sure to silence the press so that Agni can transition smoothly - apparently you fucked up somewhere along the line.

“What? No. I mean it. I’m serious. Between you and me. I’m nothing. I’m not even as great as Pepper Potts, and she’s Iron Man girlfriend.” He rambles on, his face still streaks with tears, “I’m just a teacher for a bunch of little kids who’re lucky enough to be born into wealthy families. They’re the best kids. I just.. I don’t know. Im not a professor for a prestigious college like Sebastian. I’m not the heir to a title like the Phantomhives twin. I’m not brilliant in any way comparable to Sieglinde. I’m..im..nothing.”

You stares at him. Wordless after hearing the words that came out of his mouth. A strange rage that you haven’t felt in a long time bubbles up inside your gut.

You haven’t felt rage in a long time because you have him.

A familiar desire to kill something uncoils itself from years in hibernation. You haven’t desire to kill in so long because he was next to you.

All that was bad and evil and rotten within your are locked away because he is the sun of your life.

The light of your days. The guidance in your path. The reason you haven’t drank yourself to death or overdosed on some concoction of drugs.

And here he is.

The most beautiful and perfect existence in this damn planet. Saying all these bullshit about himself. The audacity to believe his own words.

Someone will pay for this. You seethes. “Who? Tell me who.” You calmly asks as you yank him towards you for a tight hug. You’re stronger than he is after all.

“No one. But it’s true, isn’t it. You know that it’s true.” He hiccups, resisting your hug. You can feel the heat from his baseless shame radiating.

“All right. Don’t tell me.” You clicks your tongue.

“Tanaka! Show me all of recent Tweeter, Facebook, Instagram, and others relates to Agni in anyway.” You yells into thin air, moments later, the house AI, Tanaka, responded with all of what Agni has been trying to hide from you.

“Why? What?! No! No please. Stop it! Tanaka stop!.” Agni’s head perks up, frantically waving for the AI to shut up to no avail.

You skim through the flashing holograms, your blood boils at the comments, and tweets, and re-tweets and all the shits you’ve always been too busy to care about.

If these had been directed at you, you couldn’t give less of a shit. But no, they target the only thing, the only person you hold dear above all else. This calls for war.

And you’re very good at war.

Agni sees that flash of cruelty in you, the one where you beat a man twice his size to death because that man dared to kidnapped him. The one where you casually placed a bullet in the head of a former dictator in front of her rogue son. There’s a darkness in you. So dark and cold and cruel that he can’t believe he’d forgotten it still exists.

He begs you to reconsider, and try his best to muffle the black fire he can see is growing. The way your eyes darken. The way your nostrils flares. It terrifies him.

And so he begs you to calm down. To not let your anger gets to you. Try as you might, your sole vulnerability remains to be his puppy-dog sparkling eyes.

So tou calm down. You tell him him that it’s ok, you won’t do anything. If it’s all right, you’ll just block all of these nasty comments from his social media’s. Better yet, you suggest that he go on a “detox”. No more social media for him, none whatsoever. For a whole month until this all dies down.

Agni agrees feverishly. He apologizes for making you worry - something which still slightly pissed you off when he apologize for anything. You carried him to bed, he blushes, you made gentle love to him.

And when your beautiful Sun is fast asleep with his silky white hair resting on your top-grade silk pillowcase and his beautiful body cozied under your thick Turkish fiber blanket. You kisses his him gently and leave the room.

And you wage war.

You tracked down every single IP address of every single nasty commenters and tweeters and posts and retweets to their live owner. You made a list.

You commandeer their bank account, their stocks, their saving, their livelihood. Everything that are of value to them.

And you burned it all.

Temporarily of course. Agni would be devastated if he ever finds out what you’ve done.

You decided to let these fuckers suffer for a whole week, maybe a little more the worst of offender.

When you’re satisfied with all your doing, you return to your bedroom, where the light of your existence remains fast asleep.

He has the cutest snore

You smile as you snuggle next to him.

Trump signs social media executive order that calls for removal of liability protections over 'censoring'

President Trump makes remarks before signing social media executive order.

Flanked by Attorney General Bill Barr, President Trump signed an executive order in the Oval Office on Thursday that calls for new regulations under Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act of 1996 (CDA) to remove statutory liability protections and cut federal funding for tech companies that engage in censorship and political conduct.

The president's order came just two days after Twitter took the unprecedented step of slapping a "misleading" warning label on two of Trump's tweets concerning the fraud risks of nationwide mail-in balloting. The move immediately backfired: Experts disputed that Trump's tweet was actually misleading, in part because mail-in balloting has been linked to ongoing fraud; Twitter's fact-check itself contained false statements; and Twitter failed to apply the standard of review to other users.

At Thursday's signing ceremony, Trump called the fact-check "egregious," and held up a photo of Twitter executive Yoel Roth, who heads up the site's fact-checking and rules-making operation. Fox News reported on Wednesday that Roth has mocked Trump supporters, called Trump's team "ACTUAL NAZIS," slammed "scary trannies" in New York City, and called GOP Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell a "bag of farts." (In a statement, Twitter did not dispute Fox News' reporting, but called it "unfortunate.")

"My executive order calls for new regulations under Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act to make it so that social media companies that engage in censoring any political conduct will not be able to keep their liability shield," the president said.

He added: "My executive order further instructs the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) to prohibit social media companies from engaging in any deceptive acts or practices affecting commerce. This commerce resides in Section 5 of the Federal Trade Commission Act. ... Additionally, I'm directing the attorney general to work cooperatively with the states ... to enforce their own laws against such deceptive business practices. The states have broad and powerful authority to regulate in this arena."

Under the CDA, platforms are ordinarily not liable for users' defamatory or otherwise problematic posts, while publishers that actively shape content do face liability. (Copyright law, which has a strong constitutional foundation, ordinarily does require sites like Twitter to remove offending content, or face liability.)

Trump's order would instruct the federal government to interpret and apply that legislation, as agencies typically do when laws give them that flexibility. The White House had discussed a social media executive order for the past several months, and lawmakers -- including GOP Sens. Marco Rubio and Josh Hawley -- have increasingly sought CDA reforms.

"The choices that Twitter makes when it chooses to suppress, edit, blacklist, shadowban are editorial decisions, pure and simple," Trump said. "In those moments Twitter ceases to be a neutral public platform and they become an editor with a viewpoint."

Fox News has not yet obtained a copy of the executive order, but the White House said it would make it available soon.

Trump pointed out that some Democrats agreed with him. Former Vice President Biden, in a January interview with The New York Times, said that Section 230 “should be revoked, immediately should be revoked” because Facebook “is propagating falsehoods they know to be false, and we should be setting standards not unlike the Europeans are doing relative to privacy.”

Also at the signing ceremony, Trump openly said he would "shut down" Twitter if he could legally. He also called out Facebook's new oversight "tribunal" for hiring Pamela Karlan, the anti-Trump professor who testified at his impeachment hearing.

"Finally, I'm directing my administration to develop policies and procedures to ensure taxpayer dollars are not going to any social media company that suppresses free speech," Trump said. They're rich enough."

"What they're doing is tantamount to monopoly, to taking over the airwaves," Trump said. "Can't let it happen. Or else we're not gonna have a democracy."

On Wednesday, however, the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals handed Twitter and other tech giants an early win on the issue, finding that in the absence of state action, there can be no First Amendment violation. The court also did not find a Sherman Antitrust Violation, even though the plaintiffs alleged that big tech was conspiring to advance a left-wing agenda.

The president had teased the executive order Thursday morning, saying: “This will be a Big Day for Social Media and FAIRNESS!”

Fox News is told that, separately, the administration is working on a commission to look at alleged anti-conservative bias among big social media platforms.

Meanwhile, Republicans were waging a broad, all-out war against what they perceive as pervasive Silicon Valley bias. Several Republican lawmakers suggested on Thursday they will soon take action against Reddit, saying the influential Internet message board systematically singled out, censored, and destroyed a once-popular pro-Trump "subreddit," or subforum, known as "r/The_Donald."

Reid Hoffman, the co-founder of LinkedIn said he found out that telling someone you’re buying a house in New Zealand is “kind of a wink, wink, say no more,” when it comes to survivalism.

And, Vox reported on Wednesday that big tech billionares are fighting back against Republican efforts, in part because of Joe Biden's struggling operation. The outlet said LinkedIn founder Reid Hoffman, Facebook co-founder Dustin Moskovitz, Laurene Powell Jobs, and ex-Google CEO Eric Schmidt were leading the charge -- sometimes upsetting Democratic operatives, who had wanted to run their own operation.

Hoffman has been a big financial backer of MotiveAI, which has been linked to spreading overtly fake news. For example, The Daily Beast reported that four Colorado-based companies "associated with MotiveAI" used "50 seemingly independent Facebook pages to purchase ads in 2018" -- including a page that suggested Brett Kavanaugh "had helped Bill and Hillary Clinton cover up the murder of a White House aide."

Hoffman alone has also dumped approximately $10 million into Acronym, which backed the company Shadow -- which, in turn, was behind the disastrous Iowa caucus app.

According to Vox, Acronym hopes to secure another $25 million "to set up seven of its own media properties in swing states, creating local news sites that portray moderate Democratic candidates in a favorable light, but appear to be objective, homespun outlets."

Sally drifted awake, vaguely aware that the sheets were too soft and the bed was too comfortable. She opened her eyes slowly against the bright sunlight that was making her eyelids glow red and was disoriented enough by the view out of the window that she rolled over as she stretched. She tried not to squeak in surprise when she turned into Tony, but she wasn’t quite quick enough to muffle the entire squawk. He was propped up on his side, hand holding his head up, just watching her. He looked like he’d been that way for a while. A slow smile spread across his face, and he reached across with his free hand to push her sleep-tousled hair off her face.

“Good morning, Princess.” His voice was gravelly from disuse, and he yawned and covered his mouth with his fist. “Did you sleep okay?”

“Yeah, this is comfy,” Sally nodded. “I just don’t remember –“

“You fell asleep about halfway through GoldenEye. I carried you over. You woke up long enough to tell me that a green giraffe would be joining us for breakfast, but that he only eats tubas, and then fell right back to sleep.” Tony sat up and grabbed his t-shirt from the floor, but not before Sally noticed the jagged scar on his chest. Her hand snaked across the distance and she ran her fingertips across the rough scar tissue. “Arc –“

“Yeah, I read about it. I didn’t read about you having it removed.” Sally’s tone was accusatory. Tony looked uncomfortable with her touching the scarring, and she withdrew her hand.

“Some things don’t get out to the media. Have to keep something especially for my soulmate,” Tony teased as he pushed off the bed. “JARVIS, coffee?”

“Already brewing, Sir,” the ceiling was quick to respond. Sally sat up and groaned.

“Okay, you brought my jammies. And my StarkPad,” Sally rolled her eyes as she said it, “but did you bring my toiletries up? I have a bad case of morning dragon breath.”

“Yeah, your stuff is in the bathroom. Or the closet. You might need to look around to find what you’re looking for.” Tony dropped to the floor beside the bed and started doing push-ups. Sally rolled to the edge of the bed and peered at him on the floor.

“That is disgustingly healthy. I thought you were all about bad life decisions?” Even with a shirt on, Sally could see the way his shoulder muscles rippled as he pressed up, tugging the shirt across his back. Distracting. He was distracting. And probably on purpose. Sally pushed herself off the bed and padded across the room to the bathroom. Her make-up bag was set carefully at the back of the vanity, and her toothbrush was already set in the ceramic toothbrush holder, her toothpaste in the well at the centre of the dish. She wandered into the walk-in closet as she brushed her teeth and was not entirely surprised to see all her clothes hanging neatly on one side of the closet. The other side was mostly suits, and the contrast amused her. Business Tony hung his clothes. She’d already seen that casual Tony threw his t-shirt on the floor before he fell asleep at night.

“Your underthings are in the top drawer,” Tony called from the bedroom. Sally walked back to the bathroom to spit out the toothpaste in her mouth and rinsed using the single cup by the sink. It felt more intimate than she was expecting, using the same rinse cup as Tony.

“Did you move all my stuff up here while I slept?” Sally asked, following the sound of Tony bumping around in the kitchen. He passed her a cup of coffee and pressed a kiss to her cheek.

“You slept for eight hours. JARVIS says you haven’t slept more than five since you got here.” Tony avoided the question.

“JARVIS is aware that the monitoring is a little creepy, right?”

“It’s a safety measure that Mr. Stark installed after his situation in Afghanistan,” JARVIS interjected from the speaker in the ceiling above them. “Consent for biometric monitoring was covered in your employment contract, Ms. Manners.”

“No one likes a know-it-all, JARVIS,” Sally grumbled.

“You seem abnormally fond of Mr. Stark, then, Ma’am.” The AI was sassy.

“Shut up,” Sally grumbled, but couldn’t help but smile. “And don’t call me ma’am, ever again.”

While she hadn’t been paying attention to Tony, he had been puttering in the kitchen, and the smoke alarm sounding, and the overhead sprinkler turning on startled her. She turned around and saw Tony looking sheepish. “I keep thinking I should cook for you. I don’t think it’s going to work out.”

Sally laughed, and put her coffee on the counter. She turned Tony to face her and kissed him quickly on the lips. “I don’t have time to eat. I apparently slept eight hours last night, which puts me three hours further behind on Clint’s car. I need to get down there before he marries his steering wheel.”

Clint was not in the garage, which Sally took as a good sign, as she rushed toward the chassis of the Challenger. There was, however, a note on the engine block.

“You are LATE. I’ve gone for coffee. You’d better like yours black.” The script was sloppy. She shook her head and crumpled the note, tossing it into one of the boxes in the bay where she was storing parts. She sighed and started laying out all her parts to put the engine back together. She double-checked the old crankshaft against the new, machined one. When she got to one of the pistons it needed a little filing to match. She was installing the cam bearings when Clint came back with a pair of coffees from the Starbucks in the lobby.

“What are you working on?” He asked, leaning across the engine block.

“Cam bearings, then the cam,” Sally grunted as she set one of the cam bearings.

“Can I do anything?” He asked, taking a long draw off his coffee.

“Sure, lube the cam with that tube of red grease.” Sally pointed to the tool bench where the camshaft was sitting. Clint nodded and put his coffee down. “It doesn’t need to be dripping, okay?”

“I’ve worked on cars before, Sally,” Clint laughed. “Just enough to make things glide easy, not enough to make a mess.”

“That sounds vaguely lewd, Legolas,” Tony commented as he walked into the bay carrying two coffee cups. “I brought you a coffee, Princess.”

“Thanks, Tony,” Sally smiled. “But Clint just brought me Starbucks.” She tapped the cam bar to set another bearing as she spoke.

“But I made this one especially for you.” Tony’s tone was petulant. Sally laughed. She pulled the bar out of the engine and leaned over to kiss Tony’s cheek.

“If that’s anything like you trying to make me breakfast, I’ll pass,” she teased as she started to set the last cam bearing. “Like I said, Clint brought me Starbucks.” Clint looked smug as he carefully lubed the camshaft. Tony shot him a dirty look and rolled his eyes.

“You might have won the coffee round, Clint, but you didn’t win the war,” Tony snapped. “It’s my name on her thigh.” Sally laughed so hard she nearly dropped the hammer she was using to tap the bearing rod to set the bearing. Tony made a disgusted sound and stalked toward the elevators. Sally was just pulling the bearing rod back as the elevator doors closed.

“JARVIS, don’t let him go anywhere,” she called as she jogged toward the elevator doors. They opened back up when she got to them and Tony was standing there, arms crossed across his chest, glaring. She could almost imagine smoke coming out of his ears, and had to stop herself from laughing again as she stepped onto the elevator, the doors sliding shut behind her. “You’re right, Tony. It is your name on my thigh,” she said as she started pulling off the coveralls that were covering her. She let them drop in a pool at her feet and rotated her knee outward so her thigh was exposed, and pointed at the words. Tony’s eyes widened and he relaxed, his posture softening for a moment before he drew in his breath and set his jaw again.

“You can’t just drop trou and make things better, Sally.” He was being peevish, and Sally realized he was jealous.

“You’re right. But you can’t come down and interrupt me when I’m working and expect me to fawn all over you. Pepper hired me for a job with a timeline. And I need to get it done,” Sally shrugged. “Unlike you, I am not a billionaire, and I can’t ignore paying clients.” Her tone was gentle, tempering the cutting words.

“I could help you finish,” he complained as he stepped closer. Without warning, he dropped to his knees and started tracing the letters on her thigh with his fingertip. Sally squirmed away, goosebumps climbing her leg. In a fluid movement, she bent down and pulled her coveralls back on. Tony pushed himself back up and leaned against the back wall of the elevator.

“Dude. It’s Clint’s car. The only thing that brings him down to me every day is interest in my progress. He knows we’re marked for each other, Tony. He’s got his own mark, for Christ’s sake.” She shook her head as she zipped herself back up. “I’ve already given you my evenings. And you’ve moved all my shit into your suite, which I’m assuming means I don’t have a space of my own anymore. We’re soulmates Tony, not codependents.”

Tony scowled and Sally could tell he was grinding his teeth. “This is all new to me,” he complained. Sally laughed.

“Yeah, me too.”

“I’m 45, Sally. I don’t want to keep using this as an excuse, but I’ve waited a long time for you. I guess I’m asking that you be patient,” he sighed.

“Like JARVIS said, I am abnormally fond of you,” Sally laughed. “Now let me get to work, or you won’t get this evening. This engine should go together relatively quickly, but I want to get started on the tranny as well.” She hit the doors of the elevator twice, assuming JARVIS would realize she wanted them opened. She was pleased to be proven correct.

“See you for dinner then,” Tony called. Sally waved without looking back as she strode back toward the Challenger and Clint.

“Hand me that camshaft, Clint,” she said as she walked into the bay. She slid it in and locked it, and continued working. It wasn’t until she had finished installing the crank that she realized there was no music on. “JARVIS, can you put my playlist on overhead?”

“Of course, Ms. Manners. The Challenger playlist from your iPad is only 2 hours long. I can add similar music to it on shuffle to extend the play, if you would prefer?” JARVIS responded.

“That would be awesome. You’re a peach, J.” Sally torqued the final assembly on the crank and checked the endplay as the music started overhead. JARVIS knew the exact right volume to play at, and Sally suspected she preferred a quieter workspace than Tony did. She didn’t have as many thoughts that might be competing for attention, she figured. She pushed herself up onto the tool bench and drank her coffee, now mostly cold. Clint leaned on the chassis of the Challenger and tilted his head to one side, assessing her.

“I’m sure I’d be a pretty easy kill, if that’s what you’re contemplating,” Sally teased. Clint laughed and shook his head.

“Nah, I’m just realizing how well suited you are to him. You’ve already picked up when you can and can’t tease him, and when to take his shit and treat him like a joke. That’s impressive. You’ve only been here for three days,” Clint commented. “Makes me wonder if all soulmates have that ability, or if you guys are just super well-suited.”

“Tony’s theory is that we’re soulmates because we’re well-suited. Not the other way around,” Sally shrugged. “My parents were incredible together, so he might be on to something.”

“I don’t know,” Clint argued. “My dad was horrible to my mom. And I saw their matching marks a few times as a kid before Mom died. I haven’t seen a whole lot of soulmates in the initial stages of meeting though.”

“Do you wonder about yours?” Sally asked. Clint shrugged and made a face.

“Sometimes. My parents found each other when they were teens; so growing up I figured I’d meet mine just as young. But here I am. Definitely not a teenager anymore.” He rubbed the spot on his hip where his mark was. “I kinda have to wonder what the hold up is.”

“Research has shown that the average age of soulmates at their first encounter is increasing. The theory is that because the world is now a global village,” Sally said the words with air quotes around them, “there are far-flung soulmatches happening, and it just takes longer to meet them.”

Clint smirked. “How do you know so much about this?”

“I might have made a hobby of reading up on soulmarks considering. Did you know there is no one on record to have the name of their soulmate on their skin? I might be the only one,” Sally took a final pull from her coffee and pushed herself off the bench.

“How does it feel to have that kind of hubris in your vicinity?” Clint teased. Sally laughed.

“Like you said, I already know how to manage him,” she winked. “And I kind of think he’s got me figured out too. Come on, make yourself useful, grab me that timing chain.”

Clint acquitted himself well as a helper, and Sally spent the time explaining each step of the rebuild to him so that he would have a better understanding of how his engine was built and worked in the future. She didn’t expect he would become a backyard mechanic, but if he understood the work involved in keeping the engine in good repair, she hoped he might treat his car with a little more respect. He asked good questions, and Sally really enjoyed working with him, so much so that when they stopped for lunch, she allowed him to tempt her outside for what he called ‘authentic New York street meat’.

“So what’s next?” Clint asked through a mouthful of what Sally would probably admit was one of the best hot dogs she’d ever experienced, second only to the hot dog she’d had with Tony.

“Valve train, heads, lifters, rockers, oil pan assembly, valve covers, spark plugs, ignition system, carburetor, water pump –“

“I get it,” he cut her off. “We’re nowhere near done.”

“We’ll be done before dinner,” Sally reassured him. “But it’s only really day two because I lost yesterday. And I told Pepper two weeks.”

“Is that a fair estimate?” Clint asked, taking a long drink from his soda. Sally shrugged.

“Depends on the contract work. I don’t do upholstery, which is why I need you to decide right away, and I don’t do paint, and paint takes three to five days. The rest of the rebuild from my end though? Might be three more days, but more likely will be five. Two weeks was my estimate that included a twenty percent fuck-up leeway,” Sally popped the last part of the bun in her mouth. “If you’re going to keep coming in and helping with things, we could shave a day or two off, even with fuck-ups.”

“As long as we don’t get called away with anything, I want to keep helping. I’d like to know how she works so I can take care of her,” Clint admitted. Sally beamed at him, and planted a kiss on his cheek.

“That’s a good boy. I really don’t want to come back and fix her up for you again,” she laughed. They crossed the street back into the Stark Tower and headed back to the garage, Sally explaining the basics of changing the oil as they went.

Sally cranked the socket wrench one last time, and stood up with a deep sigh. “There. Done. I can start dicking about with your transmission. But first, I need to eat. And maybe take a nap.” She stretched her arms above her head and yawned.

“I’ll buy you a coffee if you want to talk upholstery?” Clint asked. Sally looked at the clock on the wall and nodded.

“Why don’t you meet me upstairs in the lounge in an hour. That gives us both time to clean up, and I can touch base with Tony. We can sit somewhere comfortable and find some food, and play with samples without destroying them,” Sally suggested. Clint bit his lip and paused.

“Yeah, that works.” He grabbed the box of fabric samples as they headed toward the elevator. Clint stepped off on his floor and nodded at Sally, “see you in a bit.”

Sally felt weird walking into Tony’s suite like it was her own, but since he’d moved her in, she supposed she shouldn’t feel awkward at all. She went to find something clean to put on in the closet, and found the clothes she’d ordered the night before were already hung up with her other things. She clapped her hands and picked a new sundress.

“I particularly liked that one. I think it’ll look great in a heap on the floor by the bed. Perfect colour scheme,” Tony’s voice came from the doorway into the huge walk-in closet. Sally laughed as she turned to face him.

“I was just about to ask JARVIS how he managed to move my things and hang my new clothes,” she said. “You certainly are domestic, Tony Stark.”

“Not really. I’m lulling you into a false sense of perfection. Once you realize how flawed I am, it’ll be too late.” He winked. Sally laughed even harder.

“I already know how flawed you are, Tony. I can read,” she teased. “And you were beautifully jealous of Clint this morning, I’ll remind you.”

“Yeah, well,” he trailed off.

“I can’t wait to meet Cap, you know,” she pressed. Tony set his jaw and Sally wasn’t sure the tension was faked.

“Everybody seems to love him,” Tony grumbled.

“Have you looked at him? Like really looked at him?” Sally asked, incredulously. “Of course people love him. He’s absolutely gorgeous and he’s Captain America. He’s like, good guy personified.”

“Yes, I am aware of how astonishingly handsome he is. And how noble. And righteous,” Tony grumbled. Sally took pity on him and closed the distance between them.

“Warts and all, Tony, you’re mine,” Sally pressed a hand against his chest. “No matter how gorgeous Captain America is, it doesn’t change that.”

“Iron Man is cooler, anyhow, Sally,” he winked. Sally brushed past him, laughing.

“I’m meeting Clint in about a half hour to talk upholstery and eat food. Are you joining us?”

“Does it mean I don’t have to cook?” Tony asked. Sally nodded. “Then of course. Did you want me to order in while you’re in the shower?”

“Sure.” Sally pressed a kiss against his lips and headed into the bathroom to clean up.

Clint was describing something to Tony and a couple of other guys when Sally stepped off the elevator into the lounge. He was using huge hand gestures and there was a broad smile on his face. On first glance, Sally realized there were more people around than she’d ever seen in the place, although in her few days at the Tower, she’d only really been up to the lounge a couple of times in the morning for coffee. A chorus of laughter followed whatever the punch line might have been, and Sally almost felt as though she was intruding until she caught Clint’s eye.

“There’s your girl now, Stark.” He tipped his head toward her, and Tony turned around, smiling. He extended his arm and drew her to his side, and it was in that moment that Sally realized exactly how out of her league Tony Stark was. Because she was standing in a circle of what appeared to be the male members of the Avengers team.

“Oh dear god,” Sally murmured under breath. Tony squeezed her.

“Fellas, this is Sally. My name is permanently written across the inside of her thigh. Can you say awkward high school experiences?” Tony winked at her. “This is Rhodey, Cap, and Sam. Thor is trailing after Jane somewhere, and Nat took Wanda out to pick up dinner. They have a wager going that Wanda can’t bewitch us a free meal. Pepper is around here somewhere, but I know you’ve already met a few times.”

“I thought you and I were going to talk upholstery, Clint.” Sally could barely choke the words out. Captain Rogers was even better looking in person than he’d ever been in any media she’d seen. And she’d seen Colonel Rhodes on TV about a million times. The only person who looked even close to as awkward as she did was Sam.

“Yeah, we should probably do that before these assholes take over everything,” Clint agreed and winked at Tony. He led Sally over to a pair of chairs that shared a coffee table, and grabbed the box of upholstery samples from beside of the chairs. He’d obviously seen the evening was going to go sideways as quickly as she had, and was planning ahead.

The sorted through the various fabrics, and Clint was quick to toss most of the samples to one side as rejects. He held up a swatch of purple leather.

“This seems like it would be too much if I want Cherry to stay red.” The way he ran his hands across the hide, Sally knew he loved it.

“It can be used as piping on the black. I think it would look really sharp,” Sally offered. “Of course, you could always paint her –“

“I’m not going purple. Her name is Cherry. I don’t want to mess with a good thing,” Clint interrupted.

“Fair,” Sally acquiesced. “I think the piping in purple wouldn’t be too much. Particularly if you pick this swatch for the carpeting. It has red, and purple flecks all over it.” The carpeting was black with just the slightest multicoloured confetti look to it. It was designed to mask dirt, but it drew the two contrasting colours together as well.

“Would it look better with a brown interior though?” Clint thought out loud.

“No!” Sally exclaimed. “It really wouldn’t. Not just because the purple would be super out of place, and your steering wheel would look odd. It just doesn’t suit the car at all.”

“I trust you, Sally. I think we’re good,” Clint nodded and pushed the three samples toward her. Together, the black and purple leather looked great against the carpet, and Sally could see how awesome it was going to look just by holding the samples together. She snapped a quick photo with the swatch numbers showing and sent it to the upholsterer, but stayed leaning over the samples after the photo sent. Clint cocked his head to one side and assessed her.

“You nervous?” He asked. Sally blushed, and nodded. “No reason to be. Steve has a way of making you feel completely at ease with him within moments of meeting him. Sam is tight with Steve. He worked as a trauma counselor with the VA, so he also has the magic touch.”

“Colonel Rhodes is Tony’s best friend,” Sally countered.

“Yeah, he might put you on trial,” Clint agreed. “But you’re Tony’s soulmate. So he’ll chill. And the girls love you by default. Well, Nat does. I’m not sure what Wanda is thinking most of the time. But Nat thinks you are all kinds of awesome now that she’s heard how traumatizing you’ve been to Tony’s poor ego, and she says she needs to either start a fan club or a support group. I think it could be both.”

“I don’t know that this pep talk is helping, Clint,” Sally laughed. Clint rolled his eyes, and pulled Sally to her feet.

“Come on. If you get through the ice breaking before the food arrives, everyone can admire how incredible you are when you put Tony in his place over dinner,” Clint dragged her back toward the crowd of men.

“I wish I had my mustang here. That’s the best icebreaker ever,” Sally grumbled. Clint laughed. Tony looked up and smiled as they approached, eyes crinkling up at the corners, and Sally felt her chest tighten. When his arm slipped around her waist again, she relaxed against him. She felt comfortable there, at his side, and for whatever reason, she could feel the anxiety about meeting his team melting away.

“Tony’s been telling us about Clint’s car,” Colonel Rhodes offered. “It sounds like quite a job.”

“It looked a lot worse than it has been. The engine is in beautiful condition. I had to get a couple of parts machined, but otherwise that’s been smooth sailing. The worst of the restoration is going to be the cosmetics, but Clint has figured out his upholstery, so I was able to send that out to the contractor. I’m going to be working on the transmission tomorrow in the morning, and hopefully will get the exhaust done, and then start putting the car back together in the next day or two.” Sally was grateful to be asked about the car first.

“I saw your Mustang at a show last year. That was an impressive restoration,” Sam interjected.

“Thanks. She’s due for an engine rebuild. I’ve got some overseas work coming down the line in the next couple months, but when I get home, I’ve got to tune up the show piece,” Sally laughed.

“I didn’t realize Mustang Sally was an actual person,” he continued. “I thought it was a clever marketing scheme.”

“I don’t follow.” Cap looked puzzled.

“You wouldn’t, Steve,” Clint started to explain. “There’s a song from the sixties called Mustang Sally. Sally’s company is called Mustang Sally Restoration and Design.”

“I knew that the mechanic behind the company was a woman. I just didn’t realize her name was actually Sally,” Sam completed.

“That’s because her name isn’t really Sally,” Tony laughed. Steve looked even more confused.

“It isn’t?” Clint looked at Sally. She smiled and shook her head.

“It’s Sara,” Sally admitted. “My Pops started calling me Sally when he bought me the Mustang. It stuck.”

“That makes sense.” Cap suddenly looked less confused. He was the only one, though, confusion spreading across the faces in the room at his comment. “No, really, it makes sense. Sally was a really common nickname for women named Sara back –“

“Before you became a capsicle?” Tony clarified. Cap scowled at Tony, but nodded.

“So what do you prefer?” Cap asked. Sally shrugged.

“No one has called me Sara in so long that I doubt I would answer to it, Captain Rogers,” she admitted.

“Uh, you can call me Steve.” Cap gestured to his jeans and button-down shirt, “I’m not dressed the part.”

“And before you go ahead and start calling me colonel, let me assure you, Rhodey is fine,” Colonel Rhodes added. Sally flushed and smiled at Steve.

“Clint was telling me about your Harley, Steve,” she changed the subject. “I’d love to take a look at it.”

“Yeah, that would be great. I really want to do the job on my own, but a professional set of eyes on it would definitely be helpful,” Steve smiled and Sally froze. He really was a million times more handsome in person. At some point after the battle of New York, Sally had found herself wishing it were Steve Rogers’ name on her thigh. But in that moment, with Steve’s incredible smile and broad shoulders within groping distance, Sally realized that wish had vanished for the reality of a different set of broad shoulders, and the mischievous twinkle in Tony’s eyes. She looked up at the man beside her and was almost scared of the intensity of her feelings. Like he could read her mind, he squeezed her waist and dipped his head to drop a kiss on her forehead.

“We can take off, if this is too much,” Tony offered. Sally shook her head.

“No, I want to meet the girls,” Sally refused. Like she was summoning them, Natasha and Wanda walked off the elevator, brown paper bags in their hands, laughing at some inside joke.

“I won!” Natasha crowed. “She was unable to convince the nice lady at the cash register to give us our order for free!”

Natasha caught Sally’s eye and nodded in acknowledgement, and tipped her head back toward Wanda to say something. Wanda looked up sharply at Sally, looking away nearly as quickly. Sally extricated herself from Tony’s side and went to the women.

“Do you need some help?” She offered as she approached the kitchen. Wanda shook her head, but Natasha stopped her with a hand on her arm.

“That would be great,” she accepted. “This is Wanda Maximoff. She’s not a big fan of your man. She thought your idea to never speak to him was brilliance, by the way.”

“You don’t have to like him, Wanda. I hope it won’t affect us becoming friends. There’s way too few women around already,” Sally allowed. Wanda responded with a half smile as she pulled take away tins out of one of the brown paper bags.

“We are outnumbered, that is certain.” She had an accent that Sally found intriguing.

“Where are you from?” Sally asked, taking lids off the tins as Wanda pushed them toward her.

“Sokovia,” Wanda replied. Natasha pulled a tray of cutlery out and kept quiet, observing the two other women interacting with one another with a careful eye.

“Is that anywhere near Latveria? I have the opportunity to take a job restoring a couple of classic cars there, and I’m intrigued by the idea of seeing somewhere most people haven’t had the opportunity to visit,” Sally explained, stacking take away lids to one side of the kitchen island, and dropping spoons in the open pans.

“Everywhere in Eastern Europe is near somewhere,” Wanda replied dismissively, and then looked as though she regretted it. “Latveria is very near Sokovia, but you are right, the borders are closed. And I never could have travelled anyhow.”

“I’m sorry, that was probably insensitive of me,” Sally apologized. Wanda shook her head.

“Nonsense. You couldn’t know. But I think most of the cars in Latveria will need restoring. The economy there is as terrible as Sokovia’s. I wonder who has money for that,” she thought out loud. She paused over a styrofoam container of soup, and then pulled the lid off.

“I was contacted by some government official, if that means anything,” Sally shrugged. Wanda laughed, a short bark, and dropped a spoon into the soup.

“It is always the way. People starving and the government has money for sports cars.” She rolled her eyes. “I should not speak like that though. You should go, Sally. Sokovia is beautiful. Mostly unmarred by modern convenience, and I would expect Latveria is as well.”

“Well, we’re still negotiating,” Sally hedged. Natasha pulled out a stack of plates from the cupboard and placed them on the counter between the women.

“Come, eat!” She called. “Between Wanda and I, we can fill you in on what to expect in those off-the-beaten-path type locations, Sally. With an added bonus of getting away from the guys.”

“That might be good. This is a little overwhelming,” Sally laughed. Wanda smiled.

“I will keep reminding myself you didn’t choose this for yourself, and I think we will be good friends,” she said with a wink and started serving herself dinner. She stepped away quickly when Tony approached, and Sally was left wondering if Wanda would still like her if she realized that she mightn’t have chosen Tony, but ultimately, she wasn’t unhappy with what fate had dealt her.

“How are you?” Tony murmured against her ear as he served himself dinner.

“This is overwhelming,” she accused.

“I figured it would be better to get it all over and done with at once,” Tony explained. “Now everyone knows you, you’ve met everyone, there won’t be any weird encounters in the kitchen or the elevator.”

“Still overwhelming,” Sally pointed out.

“There’s no way for me to not look bad saying this, so I’m just going to say it,” Tony admitted. “I didn’t want anyone to mistake you as the flavour of the week.”

Sally let out a sharp laugh of surprise. “Seriously?”

“The team has a way of being very polite and appropriately vague when I bring people here. I don’t want polite and appropriately vague for you. I want everyone to be comfortable enough with you that they are themselves.” Tony looked so earnest that Sally relaxed enough to laugh. Tony looked confused, and waited for her to explain.

“If Captain America farts in front of me, I will die,” Sally giggled.

The 10 Archetypes & Our 8 Parts

@trashcanbees, this is a continuation of the first lecture I shared with you. These teachings were based on Buddhist scriptures. So, don't worry too much about the context. Enjoy the read, thought it might interests you.

Disclaimer: The lecturer's knowledge on the topics may be limited & may miss a few points. Also, my comprehension may be limited. Pls forgive the lecturer and I.

The 10 Types of People according to a specific scripture. These archetypes aren't absolutely true but I hope you can connect the dots to experiences from yourself and others.

1) 頑类 [Stubborn] Full of hubris, ferocious, and lacks sympathy. Greed for money, power, and pleasure. Opposes anyone that differs or they feel being challenged by. They pursue lust & desires.

2) 異类 [Different] Weird behaviors. May have behavioral issues or physical deformity. Examples are drag-queens, "Trannies", or those with conflicting mental issues. (May be pol-incorrect, but it's still up for debate) Their previous lives may be full of perversions, or excessive desires for lust, materialism, and gains.

3) 庸类 [Mediocre/Commonplace] They are full of [詐] fraud & trickery because they seek opportunities for self-gain. They use appeasement and play kiss-up for obtaining their goal. The title is a double entendre because the use of trickery can be to make up for what they lack, but also such people are common in everyday life.

4) 狼类 [Wolf] They are full of [嗔] anger & displeasure for life such that they disregard humanity and values. Commits brutality, murders, crimes, heinous acts, all the while putting up a good front. i.e. Japanese Yakuza committing charitable actions doesn't excuse the fact that they're a crime syndicate. Corporate & government higher-ups who can live the rest of their days comfortably with their heinous deeds. Acts as a wolf in sheepskin. Their previous lives were full of bad tempers and they act out on them.

5) 微类 [Insignificant] They are full of [怨] blame for the world for all their troubles, and refuses the reflect upon themselves. They feel as they mean nothing in the world. They lack forgiveness and cannot look away. In this life, they are now given the attention they wish in the form as a celebrity in their career. Their careers are superfluous, unnecessary to the human needs. (Makup artists, fashion designers, actors, models, careers concerning visual appeal) They are cursed with being in the eyes of the media but also forever being a #2 since they must cater those of higher status than them.

6) 柔类 [Non-assertive] Their previous lives were full of [憍慢] arrogance, hubris and they were bossy and demanding. Thus in this life, they lack authority and power over their own life and have no say in their own matters. (A housewife who's almost a servant to her husband. She has no say in her matters and is berated by her husband)

7) 劳类 [Laborer] They are slave to their work. They can be working 3-4 jobs and yet barely get by or makes no progression in their life. Their previous lives were full of [誑] lies and deceptions. They enjoyed gossiping, spreading rumor, and being condescending. Thus in their present life, they're granted endless work to keep them busy and shut them up. They cannot look down others because they are now kept in perpetual labor.

8) 文类 [Intellectual] They have an affinity for [邪见] malicious thoughts and enjoys spinning lies & stories. They aren't the typical academics or researchers but rather those who are cursed to pretentiousness and rhetorics. They write opinion pieces and articles (no bibliography) that spins dramas. They themselves are so caught up in their own bubble that they cannot look away at the real world. (Buzzfeed, Huff Post, "feminist" writers, "queer" writers, "journalists", Twitter celebrities) Their previous lives were pretentious and so they are now granted to be as pretentious as they wish. (Unlike them, a dedicated journalist is always in the field, or may even risk their own life, a war correspondent)

9) 明类 [Witty] They are full of [枉] crookedness, and they account for everything, every penny, every favor owe, and grudges. They are always thinking & scheming over every detail, hence the title. Their previous lives were full of scams, lies, and schemes for personal gains. Thus, they are granted perpetual obsession for their gains.

10) 達类 [To Attain] Their previous lives were full of [興訟] litigations because they worked as lawyer, attorney, and they bring misfortunes & miseries to innocents. (Corporate & gov't lawyers, lawsuits that serves no criminal justice but to benefit from the defendant's losses) Thus in this life, they're granted perpetual desire for fortune, hence the title. They turn the other way when they feel luck isn't on their side. They feel that they can change fate on a whim.

Where Did These 10 Types of People Originate From? To put into simple words from the scripture, we human have 8 components composing our existence. If our life is like a TV show, then those 8 components are the players. Our life is orchestrated, taking on the roles of those 10 people.

1) 五官 [5 senses] Sights, sounds, scents, taste, feel (body) are the actors.

2) 含藏識 [Vessel] Nicknamed "idiot" because it inputs information of ourselves and makes no decisions. Our deeds, karma, knowledge, experiences, desires. It is the director, commanding the actors to play their role.

3) 意識 [Consciousness] The smartest. Makes us who we are, alive. Responsible for decision making, rationality. Recalls out useful memories. It is the script because it's already written and we'll act it out accordingly.

4) 我識 [Self] Dictates our consciousness to self-prioritize. Responsible for our self-survival but also our karma and desires. It is the writer, writing our life. Making us taking the shape of what we are today. All it does it demands "me, me, me". The primary cause of our miseries and faults and thus, we must pacify the extend of its power.

The last 3 components dictates our life based on our accumulated karma & deeds. They dictate our future karma & sufferings, and our mental & physical attributes (5 senses). Any of the 10 archetypes we committed, it carries with us forever into the next life. What we do shapes us, it becomes a habit, then a routine, then we become any of those archetypes.

This life we live will write the script of our next life, or maybe an even later life because the next script is finished.

Ask yourself, why is your present life crap or good? How can we deter our fate from further sufferings? To have any semblance of hope, we must strive to obtain [如来正法] The Retification in Accordance to Buddha. How much have you [修道] rectified yourself? What have you been accumulating in your deeds & karma? In the end, your 我識 [Self] is responsible for writing this shitty script you're living in.

Likely your TV script is shitty because of your desire to retain the reality of the past and refuse to accept the present. An analogy can be an orange that's peeled into slices. This orange can never be put back together into its initial form. Regardless of what you do, the orange can never retain the absolute form of what it was. Yet, you fuss about it, causing yourself unnecessary frustration & anguish. We anguish because our 我識 [Self] demand for what's fitting to its desire. In this case, the orange absolutely returning to its initial form.

We must correct ourselves via pacifying 我識 [Self] because it clings onto superfluous things and brings unnecessary sufferings. What's happened in this life has happened. We may not be able to deter imminent sufferings & pain and we may have to let it trample over us. All that's left to do is focus on our next steps, and have mercy and forgiveness so we may avoid fully taking on the full form of the 10 archetypes.

Cop did not know the fine amount, the consequences, or even what category my violation was in. He thought it would not be as severe as a speeding ticket, so to teach me a lesson he gave me a ticket. If he just let me go with a warning, the same lesson would have been learned...just sayin'. Just looked it up...looks like it is just as bad as a speeding ticket, and a point will go on my driving record since I already had gone to traffic school for speeding June 08. Progressive auto insurance problem !?

I need an opinion on what should i do in this case. 3 weeks ago , as I was driving home , on the freeway , from the truck in front of me fell big peace of ice and hit my car from underneath. Less than 1 minute later i noticed blue smoke behind , luckily there was and exit with gas station right there. By the time i pulled up to the gas station car was barely moving. After staying parked for 20 min , it leaked oil and tranny fluid . I called towing , had them pick the car up , called progressive made the claim. All of that happened in WI near Milwaukee , before i used to leave in Chicago , so I never dealt with progressive from WI. After couple days adjuster came out and gave shop 1100$ to start the repairs , shop diagnosed everything and came to a conclusion that its the transmission leaking because of the damage inside. Adjuster was extremely slow to give shop any kind of approvals to do anything , So after 3 weeks they finally allowed them to take transmission apart , another adjuster came out took pictures , then shop owner want around , called me and said that he will call me next day. Next day shop owner calls me asking if I heard anything from progressive ? I call that guy back , but he went on vacation. Call my first adjuster , she says that the guy who went on vacation concluded that it wasn't related to impact , so they wont pay for anything and I owe 500 for taking down transmission. I called shop owner right away asking if its possible , not being related to impact , he says of course not , otherwise your car wouldn't break after impact. He also said some technical explanation what caused it to break , i just don't know what. he also said that no one ever called him and asked him what was the cause if that. I dealt with progressive in Chicago twice , when i lived there , and i had greatest experience ever , but it seems that in Milwaukee , they are playing games , making me pay , and not taking responsibilities. I figured somebody might know what should I do in this case , I just want them to do what they should do , especially when Im paying 200$ a month.""

Dental Insurance Question - The Real Scoop?

While I am employed, I work at home for a company in another state, and the dental insurance options through my company were not viable. So, of course, I relied on the internet to research my options, and I looked, specifically, for dental insurance Lo and Behold, the stuff that came up, was for Dental Discount Plans. Upon first glance, it seemed like this could actually have been a better deal then anything offered through my firm. The conversation on the websites touted these plans, often with premiums of $7 to $20 per month, to be better than conventional dental insurance in every imaginable way. No issues in applying, no maximums, no deductibles, and no waiting. So, I am sitting here, reading how in EVERY possible way this is better than insurance, and it strikes me. If something seems to good to be true, maybe it is. If these were so much better than conventional insurance, why did my firm have so much trouble finding affordable insurance; they should have simply joined one of these discount programs. Well, the site even attached me to an independent article which BASHED the conventional insurance...Then it struck me...If I was a dentist, would I be happy joining these discount plans and basically getting 50% to 75% less for my services. Yeah Yeah, I am getting my payment up front and not waiting for the insurance to pay me (again, playing the role of the dentist), but is that worth the tremendously discounted amount (does not make sense when you compare the time value of money). So, I realized that if I were a dentist, I would not want anything to do with these plans...Or would I? Does being a part of these discount programs really bring in enough clients to justify that deep a cut in the fee schedule. Then I started to think...Is it possible that there is something up with these deeply discounted fee schedules I keep seeing on these sites? Are the fees just being jacked up and then discounted back down to the point where I might as well not be a member of the Discount Program, and just a regular walk in? Can I go to a dentist and ask them for the fee schedule, and then after the fact, compare it to the discount program to see that I am really getting a discount, and it is not some number playing farce. I would want to know as a dentist whether these discount programs are worth anything. I need some kind of coverage, and for the few self insurance programs I see, the monthly premiums are incredibly high, and yes, when compared to the discount programs, it seems like NO ONE would EVER join these insurance programs since they are more limited and more expensive...Yet....They are still in the insurance business. Will someone please give me the scoop...I need to have an affordable option here, but don't want to be duped into joining one of these discount programs. Thank You""
