TLD - Real John's voice bleeds through the nightmare
Listen to the audio in this scene again, carefully. I think this must've been brought up by someone in the fandom before, I am just not able to find that post.
DRIVER: Hey, you! What’s the matter with you? SMITH’s VOICE (echoing): Anyone! (As Smith’s voice continues to echoingly repeat the word, Sherlock’s vision homes in on the driver, who has got out of his car and is leaning an arm on the open door while looking at him in half-irritation, half-concern.) DRIVER: Do you know where you are? Are you drunk? (Sherlock blinks.) WIGGINS: Shezza. (The driver has been replaced by Bill, who is looking at him sternly.) SHERLOCK: What are you doing here? WIGGINS (now standing in front of the fireplace in 221B’s living room): What were you doing in the middle of a bloody street? SHERLOCK (still in the middle of the bloody street): You should be at Baker Street. (His head twitches and he stumbles slightly.) WIGGINS (in the living room): I am. So are you. (In the street, the scenery around Sherlock goes very out of focus as he lowers his head a little and blinks rapidly. Behind him, a large backdrop ripples down to cover the view. The backdrop is the far wallpaper of the living room with a two-dimensional image of the sofa at the bottom. The backdrop thumps down into place and straightens out while Sherlock raises his head and stares around in front of him.) WIGGINS (in the real living room): They found your address; they brought you here. (Confused, Sherlock turns and looks around the room.) WIGGINS: You’ve ’ad too much … (Sherlock turns back to him, wide-eyed and bewildered.) WIGGINS: … an’ that’s me sayin’ this. (Flailing in panic, Sherlock stumbles backwards and up onto the now solid sofa. His back ought to crash into the wall but instead he lands flat on his back on the rug some distance in front of the sofa. In a brief cut-away, Smith is on TV looking bored as the audience applauds behind him. He gestures towards the camera.) SMITH: Kill. (He smacks his hand down onto the big red button on the table in front of him. In 221 Sherlock struggles to turn over onto his side. Then, without transition he’s back on his feet, possibly standing on the sofa, and he turns and stares around the room wide-eyed. Brief cut-away of Smith in his tracksuit during a fun run, holding up his index fingers and thumbs to the crowd as he forms the letter ‘W’ with them. [Presumably in this context he intends it to mean ‘winner’ rather than certain other options.] WIGGINS’ VOICE (distantly, offscreen): Sherlock. Sherlock rolls onto his back again on the rug.
(X)
The last part (towards -0:03) a voice that says "Sherlock", the official subtitles also say that it's Wiggins'. But it's not. He's always called him Shezza. We also don't actually see Wiggins call him Sherlock in that scene.
That's clearly John's voice.
Wherever Sherlock is right now in real life (fighting for his life most likely), John's besides him and calling out to him.
It is one of the few moments in S4 where we have tangible proof it's not real. And I am so happy for it.

You know how I complain about the lack of emotional resolution in The Final Problem? It's not an issue exclusive to that episode.
In The Great Game, there is an explosion at 221B, when John enters the room expecting to see a hurt or injured Sherlock, but instead, we see Mycroft and Sherlock talk about a case.
Why is this interesting? We know Mycroft went straight there after he heard about the explosion, most likely for reasons other than the case like, idk, to check if his brother is still alive? We are not shown that. If Mycroft showed any concern towards him, it is entirely off screen.
We are shown Mycroft watch Sherlock get tortured and speak to him in bad Serbian (why was the Serbian so bad? Was it supposed to be bad?), mirror the actions of his torturers and refer to his torture as a "holiday."
What are we not shown? Mycroft helping him out of the chains. Arranging for him to get his wounds mended. Any possible show of concern. See a pattern?
The Great Game was mostly from John's pov, so it makes sense there. John wasn't there. Here you have no excuse, as season 3 is mostly Sherlock's pov.
So why did they not show us that? They were afraid of consequences. It's the same reason the Lazarus explanation felt like a retcon and a cop-out to people.
I saw a hypothesis that just as Option 1 was Anderson's fantasy and Option 2 was the fangirl fantasy, Lazarus is Sherlock's fantasy.
In this version, he had the events perfectly in control, Mycroft didn't cause him to get screwed over and it was all intentional and they worked together, John, Mrs H and Lestrade were not in any real danger, Sherlock didn't get as emotional on the roof and didn't cry etc. etc. etc.
You see if Mycroft was to blame for the fall, if he was what truly led to Sherlock's downfall and it wasn't all premeditated, you would have to address that.
Sherlock would be angry with him. He would resent him for something he actually did as opposed to a vague reason we were never given or explained.
You wanted to play with emotional stakes, but you didn't want any relationships to actually evolve.
That's why John's beating of Sherlock is not addressed in The Final Problem even when it would be relevant.
That's why Molly is shown back in 221B at the end when the last time we saw her, Eurus put her friendship with Sherlock in serious jeopardy if not outright kill it.
That's why they wrote Rosie into the show and then did next to nothing with her.
That's why 221B explodes and then is rebuilt in a quick montage at the end of the episode.
That's why Eurus is put back into the very same prison she had no issue mindfucking everyone in and escaping from.
That's why we don't see Sherlock reacting to Mycroft being freed or have them discuss events of Sherrinford.
Because they wanted to put these characters through hell, but not actually have anything change.

like i know that allegedly carl powers was sherlock's first case, but wouldnt be searching for redbeard be his actual first one? him trying to solve the mystery of where redbeard is? with the only clue and lead being eurus' song puzzle? its also very coincidental that carl died from drowning, as did "redbeard". was sherlock subconsciously attracted to the drowning as a "first case" when his actual first case (blocked out from his accessible memory) was also drowning? was his mind trying to find a solution for carl that also solved redbeard's? in the same way that he tried to solve moriarty's death with the parallel of emilia ricoletti's. s4 often refutes the plots of earlier episodes but this overarching plot could actually have worked.

I’ve been thinking about this for a long, long time, and like. Isn’t a better explanation that Eurus wanted to kill Mycroft not out of spite towards him, but more as to make Sherlock suffer?
I mean, she has no reason really to hate Mycroft that much. He gave her gifts and really, he just was taking over after their uncle. She certainly didn’t hate him when they were children — all the drawing we can see in tfp are of Sherlock dying, with Mycroft just being there.
Like, I feel like this is better explanation than Eurus wanting to kill Mycroft and hating him. But hey, it’s weirdly written anyway, so everyone can have their own opinions.

Okay so. One thing genuinely bothers me. Season 4 makes no sense but you can explain away almost everything with symbolism, emp or blog theory.
I know this is such a little detail but whyyyyy is John driving the car when Mary is in labour?
We know Sherlock can drive becuase he drives the car in the The hound of baskervilles. John is a literal doctor. John can give emotional support to his wife.
Then why isn't Sherlock dirivng and John sitting next to his wife who is in labour??
Do you maybe have an explanation for this?
NONNY, your guess is as good as mine. I recall some of the fandom had the exact same reaction, because YEAH, it doesn't make any sense at all, and it among many other fucky things in S4 is WHY no one believes any of it is real.
Perhaps John literally didn't care at all about his pregnant wife AND new baby (which also adds another point to the character destruction of one John Watson in S4). We see him not give two shits about Mary, and like... ignore his child for half the season?? So effing weird.
Anyway, Nonny, no clue. I don't honestly enjoy S4 at all and haven't analyzed it close enough to care. They just.... destroyed all the characters'... character arcs in S4.

Guys. Guys!

In the original version of TFP, Sherlock says "do be quiet, dear" and it's John who tells Mycroft to shut up. Meaning the 'dear' was always intended to be there and they have rewritten it to sound harsher.

Barely 6 mins in and John is fake typing, and not even on the "create" or "edit" page. It's a fucking screenshot. What, is John Watson 5, playing with mommy's laptop?
